Fox once published the unlisted phone number of a CNN reporter who, as a joke, gave out the number of their Washington bureau on air.

That CNN reporter? Albert Einstein Tucker Carlson.

There is no reason to believe that the NYT were going to do it, and if they did then history shows that Tucker would have gotten over it. Of course, that does not have any bearing on whether the NYT would be right or wrong if they did the thing that we have no reason to believe they were going to do, but it is relevant that Tucker's pre-emptive outrage is not sincere. considering it's been less then a month since the NYT did this to th author of slatestarcodex i'm disinclined to believe their denial, and more inclined to believe cooler heads realized Fox can do the same to them and snubbed the article.

I'm not really sure that publishing the full legal name of the subject of a news story constitutes doxxing...
