The exchange began when the offending poster decided to disparage everyone who voted for Gary Johnson in 2016, claiming that they all would have voted for Donald Trump if there were no Libertatian option. I disagreed, pointing out that many Libertarian voters actually have integrity.

I then pointed out, correctly, that such dismissiveness falls in line with the line of thinking used by one Donald J. Trump against his critics.

Instead of moderating its position, this offending poster continued to insist that Gary Johnson voters are an unthinking monolith. Then, because it knew that it was losing the argument, it decided to divert attention from its impending loss by flamebaiting.

Oh give it a fucking break. Hillary Clinton was a shit candidate, Biden isn’t. She was an idiot who decided that she didn’t need to worry about campaigning in several areas. It’s not the third party voters fault, it’s hers.

1) It’s “you’re an uptight pearl-clutcher.” If it’s going to curse and flamebait, it should at least use proper grammar.

2) Imagine how fast Thermodolia would have reported me if I used this much profanity in a post against it.

3) It’s almost as if this poster is going out of its way to start a fight. It thinks that by flamebaiting me, I will respond as I had in mid-June, before my self-imposed exile from the NS General Boards. Flamebaiting is against the rules.

After that, this poster falsely claims that I’m demeaning all college dropouts. “The College Dropout” is clearly a reference to Kanye West’s 2004 album, which Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Harry S. Truman had nothing to do with.

Flame baiting is a far more subtle and covert action; it is an underhanded tactic that is designed to provoke a response from another player. It's in the same context of trolling but with flamebaiting it's just the one person. Also included under flamebaiting is malicious quote editing, changing the contents of a quoted post without showing the original text, either through color changes or strike-out.

As for me, I hereby drop my complaint against Thermodolia.

The root of the complaint: a disagreement on whether Libertarians would automatically vote for Donald Trump, is something I RESPECTFULLY disagree with Therm about. I only brought the complaint in order to make sure that our disagreement didn't degenerate into petty attacks. I was guilty of making baseless assumptions in the past about Therm. I'm not going to play that note again.

Whatever complaints I had aren't worth any sort of retribution. I'm willing to overlook any perceived slights in the interest of free and open discussion.

Nevertheless, after some reconsideration, I decided to withdraw my initial complaint. While I don't like being cursed at or called names, I decided that the NS Mods had better things to do with their time than decide whether you deserve a warning.

Thermodolia, I don't like you at all. I don't think much of you as a human being.
Based on my behavior in mid-June, I wouldn't be surprised if the feeling is mutual.

2) I appeal this decision. I was not using Mods as weapons. Therm was clearly provoking me into a fight. I was merely responding to clear provocation as outlined by NS Forum rules. After some time, I reconsidered.

You know as well as anyone else that people are faster and broader on reporting things with people they dislike. This is especially true of taking borderline cases and assuming they absolutely must be on the other side of the line.

I understand now. Because I don't like Therm, he can openly provoke me and it's not flamebaiting. Never mind that the dislike is due to the offending behavior and the lack of contrition.

Those of us who actually have a concept of justice tend to dislike offenders. Crooks are not our friends.

Based on the clear bias the Mods have shown against me so far, I see zero evidence that any of you are above such pettiness.

Lesson learned: Therm offends, I get the warning. Justice notably absent in appeal process.

I'm done "Using Mods as Weapons," or whatever silly charge you and your NS Mod friends have concocted. I now know that other posters can get away with things that I can't. I now know that there is no justice in this Kangaroo Court!

If I choose to post on that board again, I will do my very best to make sure that my conduct is above board. If things degenerate, I will more than likely add the offending party to my foes list, because I know that there will be no justice from NS Mods.
