Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Ethan Park
    Aliases: Fulldive
    Gender: Male
    Age: 22
    Appearance: 175cm (5'7") tall, 68 kg (150lbs), platinum blonde, blue eyes, Asian-American.

Motivations
Goals: Maintain the peoples' freedom, keep the internet free from super-powered cyber-criminals, prove himself as an effective hero.
Fears: Losing the powers he heavily relies on to make a living, losing his creations, dying to an edgelord villain.

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Source of Power:
    Powers :
    • Vinteokinesis: Ethan can create, shape, and manipulate video images using energy. Allowing him to create energy constructs in the shape of beings, tools, weapons, and aspects of fantasy with powers of their own. Ethan can directly communicate with electronics, providing superhuman levels of control through thought alone. Ethan's digital constructs require substantial amounts of prep time in order to actually be of use, and must somewhat obey the laws of physics. On top of this, Ethan can enter, travel through, and manipulate digital and electrical devices from within.
    • Living Battery: Ethan can absorb, project, and store about 1 gigajoule of energy within himself. This surplus of energy is mainly used for his Vinteokinesis power, but can also 'overcharge' his body. While in this energized state, Ethan's body can stun, and his reaction speed is greatly increased. Due to being able to control his energy output, he can also act as a wireless charger for electronics.
    Abilities:
    • Tech Genius: Ethan, through sponsorships and abuse of his powers, has quickly accumulated a number of IT related knowledge and certificates. Namely in Digital Art, Programming, and Multimedia. All of which factor into his power and allow him to pull off greater feats. Because he can seamlessly transfer his imagination into machines, creating extremely complex AI, 3D models, and so on comes to him naturally. He could've done so without going to uni, but at least it looks good on his resume.
    • Adept Swordsman: Not many can say they've fought to the death with nothing but a sword, especially a pseudo-magical one... multiple times. While Ethan could easily create modern weapons with his power, medieval fantasy has always been his guilty pleasure, especially so considering he can imitate magic.
    Equipment:
    • A high-end laptop and flagship phone.
    • A Kawasaki Ninja 400 motorcycle.
    • A collection of 3D models securely stored in the cloud and his local device (which he can summon for combat).
Note: All summons are immune to pain. Summoned materials (e.g. metal, flesh, bone) are, unless otherwise stated, equivalent to their real-life counterparts. All explosives are, unless otherwise stated, equivalent to a hand grenade in power. Ethan can always create other constructs in the future, but this will take time in IC. Whilst transformed, Ethan has a dulled sense of pain, and can still use his Living Battery powers. Summons Ethan has transformed into have their eyes change from white to red.
      • A 220cm (7'2") edgy fire knight with ~600kg (0.6 tons) strength, plus a flaming shield, sword, and breath (summon+transformation)
      • A 200cm (6'5") tall winged knight complete with bullet resistance to 7.62 rounds, ~600kg (0.6 tons) strength, a 'magical' flaming sword, and energy blasts (summon+transformation).
      • A 250cm (8'2") storm knight that merges the previous two knights into one. This construct is essentially a humanoid firestorm, greatly empowering Ethan's energy powers, whilst being unexpectedly fast for its size. Typical weaponry will simply phase through it, anything within direct contact will be burned/electrocuted, it can slowly 'float' through the sky, it has ~800kg (0.8 tons) strength, and can throw spear-shaped lightning/fire fire bolts. (transformation; requires fire and winged knights to be already summoned in order to merge).
      • Angel wings with a wingspan of 7m (23ft) that equip to Ethan and provide flight (transformation).
      • A 190cm (5'9") skeleton mage with a max range on 300m (984ft), can shoot fireballs and lightning and double the strength of other skeletons within 50m (164ft) (summon).
      • A skeleton 190cm (5'9") archer with a max range of 250m (820ft) that can fire normal and explosive arrows (summon).
      • A 190cm (5'9") tall skeleton swordsman (summon).
      • A 5.7m (18.7ft) long snake that can self-destruct (summon).
      • Sticky explosives in the form of fake magic runes that can be placed on surfaces no larger than Ethan's hand (scales with transformations) (summon).
    Weaknesses:
    • Power:
      • Summoned constructs must have a model, textures, complex AI, shaders, speech recognition, and various other features (especially if intended for combat) to actually do stuff beyond standing around. Usually, the more realistic a construct is, the stronger it can be.
      • Ethan can only control 3-6 summons at a time, unless the summons are self-reliant and/or intelligent enough to operate without supervision.
      • Ethan's power is very much a 'quantity over quality' type power, the less he's able to summon, the weaker he is. In fact, he intentionally makes his construct look way stronger than they really are.
      • Larger summons take much longer to materialize than smaller ones, taking anywhere from 1 to 30 seconds.
      • Without a device (i.e. phone/laptop) Ethan will not have access to his constructs and be unable to summon anything.
      • Going over his energy limit may result in passing out or possibly 'short-circuiting'.
    • Self:
      • Not skilled in close combat beyond swordplay.
      • Has almost no counters to magic or other anomalous powers.
      • Kinda a wuss when it comes to pain as he's never even broken a bone.
      • No way of quickly healing himself (unless he learns how to make something that can, which is very unlikely).
      • Pushing his powers to their limit may result in passing out.

      Background:
Job: Freelance digital artist, programmer, and cybersecurity specialist; Sponsored TIAMA Hero.
        Legal Status: US Citizen, Hero.
Backstory: Ethan Park was a gifted child, if a bit anti-social, with his knowledge in technology far exceeding his peers. He was a veritable genius, writing programs at just 6 years old. It wasn't until his 9th birthday did his powers truly reveal themselves, his parents catching him in the act as he plunged a hand into the TV, pulling out an exact copy of some advertised kids toy. His parents were absolutely ecstatic, their respective academic backgrounds in science and technology squealing at the thought. For a long while, Ethan was simply taught how to responsibly use his power, dropping out in favor of being home-schooled. All his friends were behind a screen, pop culture and video-games all that could hold his attention.

The moment he turned 18, Ethan fled his stuffy parents home for university, flying through on a number of merit-based scholarships to attain a number of tech-related certificates. Two years of hard work, and some possibly illegal activity, had netted Ethan a sizable sum of cash. A master of all things digital simply couldn't go wrong in the modern age. Penetration testing, bug-finding, digital art, programming, AI - nothing was off the table. But Ethan wanted more, he wanted to prove himself in the real world. Use his power to catch real criminals, to test himself against other super powered weirdos who could actually pose some challenge. Not script-kiddies on the net. Fortunately, nothing was really stopping him from doing just that.

And so, off he went to TIAMA, registering himself as a hero much to his parents dismay. He'd never felt more alive stepping through those doors, out of his dark, computer-lit room. What new experiences await him?

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Oskar Dirlewanger
    Aliases: Butcher of Wola/Dirlewanger
    Gender: Male
    Age: 125 years
    Appearance:

Motivations
Goals: War, any and all war and all that comes with it.
    Fears: The Phoenix

Strengths and Weaknesses

Source of Power: Undead Nazi Officer in a mechanical cyborg body.
Powers :
  • Undead
Kept alive by Dr. Mengele's pseudoscience, what is left of Dirlewanger's body would normally not be enough to continue functioning, especcially not after having ceased to do so once already. Still, he continues to be alive in his strange unlife. Age has not had an effect upon him, neither have sicknesses. A need to breathe does not exist either. He cannot even feel temperatures. Or pain. Loss of any organs outside of his brain is not fatal.
  • Mechanazi
Dirlewanger sports a mechanical shell/replacements now that his biological body is barely capable of moving. Constructed back in the late 40s and since then continuosly upgraded, it makes the foul creature inside it a deadly weapon. The armour could tank a high velocity 3,7 cm armour piercing shell (though joints only 12,7mm AP). The lifting strength of Dirlewanger increased to 15 tons by now. His moving speed is at 50 km/h. His new and improved body weighs about 800 kg.
  • Sensors
Being now trapped within his new body of steel, Dirlewanger experiences the outside world through an array of sensors. Audio sensors normally recording within 20 Hz to 20 kHz. By manually calibrating them he can increase the range to ranges between 10 Hz to 30 kHz. Loudspeaker capable of transmitting his voice at volumes up to 120 db. Dirlewanger is also limited to only one eye and thus only one video sensor. It is however capable of 32x zoom as well as equipped with regular vision, black-white vision, negative vision, infrared, heat and nightvision.
  • Experimental Reactor
Dirlewanger's suit is powered by an experimental reactor within his chest, supplying him with seemingly endless amounts of stamina. The reactor normally runs at 50% of its possible output but the output can be increased by Dirlewanger to 100% within 10 seconds, which leads to all his suit's active capabilities (strength, speed) doubling for 30 seconds. This however produces immense amounts of heat and should Dirlewanger attempt to use this overcharge for more than 30 seconds, his suit's wiring is going to start burning...and what remains of his body as well. The reactor takes 1 hour to cool down enough to become safely usable again.
  • The Butcher's Claws
Rather than hands, Dirlewanger possesses rather sharp tungsten claws, easily capable of cutting deep and hard. He is capable of launching his claws at targets to grab/hold/kill what is further away. They roughly have a velocity of 122 m/s. Launched at targets within a 10 m range, the claws can be kept connected to his main body through a steel cable which can be pulled in again mechanically. For longer range launches, Dirlewanger can decide to disconnect the cable, which will increase the range to 50 m. Lastly, Dirlewanger is capable of heating up the tungsten claws to roughly 1600°C within a mere 15 seconds, though he needs to use the claws during the heat up phase already as, once heated up, he only has 5 seconds left to use his claws.
Abilities:
  • CQC Specialist
  • Explosives Specialist
  • Firearms Specialist
  • Inspiring Loyalty/Discipline through Fear
  • Skilled Tactician
Equipment:
  • Standard Issue SS Sabre
  • Walther P38
  • 4+1 magazines
  • 4 M112 Demolition Blocks, inside his thighs and upper arms
Weaknesses:
  • Unfeeling
Being undead, Dirlewanger's nerves do not quite work that well anymore. The suit does not register temperatures, outside of reactor or claw temperatures either, so Dirlewanger would be incapable of judging wether things get too hot or cold for him before he or his suit actually start malfunctioning.
  • Electromagnetic Weakness
Lightning based or EMP attacks are highly effective against Dirlewanger, shutting off the machinery that surrounds him and turning him into a metal statue. Efforts have been made to protect Dirlewanger in case of such attacks and so the generator is generally closed off for protection during such attacks and Dirlewanger's body is generally safe from the electricity.
  • Unstable Reactor
Damage to the reactor, which is a highly fickle machine, will cause the detonation of the reactor, after which Dirlewanger freezes. Following the detonation, an unstable, tiny black hole forms where the reactor's core used to be, killing Dirlewanger in the process and sucking in anything within a 20 meter radius, strongly pulling at what's beyond that, before collapsing into itself and disappearing.
  • Declawed
Heating the Claws for more than 20 seconds (that includes the 15 second heat-up time), will cause the joints, where they are connected to the hand, to melt, the claws thus falling off and leaving Dirlewanger with little more than stumps.

Background:
    Job: Terrorist Leader
Legal Status: Internationally wanted war criminal and terrorists for thousands of counts of murder, rape and torture, assistance in genocide, ordering or bringing about the deaths of hundreds of thousands, multiple acts of terrorism.
    Backstory:
Oskar Dirlewanger's life started as unassuming as one might get. Being the son of a of a bavarian businessman, he certainly did not grow up lacking anything. He received plenty of food and a good education in the Kingdom of Württemberg, one of the states within the German Empire at the time. Given the all pervasive militarism within imperial german society, it was also no great surprise that he volunteered for service in the in the army in 1913, immediately after having finished his school, being assigned to a machinegun company. His service had not yet ended when the Great War finally broke out and so Dirlewanger was sent into the west together with his company, working on the execution of the Schlieffen Plan and piling up tons of bodies in their wake...civilian and military as the Rape of Belgium took its toll.

It was here, in the trenches and among the bodies of the dead and dying that the young man who was Oskar Dirlewanger truly found his passion. His life had been bland and boring up untill now but this war, this fulfilled him like nothing had ever before. The adrenaline of death ever so close, this control over life and death all around him, the carnage which he found beautiful in his own perverse imagination. He could not get enough of it! Even after having been wounded multiple times, his arm having become barely usable and the army considering 40% wounded, enough for him to get a free pass back to a simple office job or out of the army and back into civilian life, he immediately volunteered again for frontline service upon being able to somewhat move again.

This remained a constant for Dirlewanger who would gather 6 wounds during his wartime service and receive the proper medals for it as well as the promotion to Lieutenant for his outstanding service which he finished in 1918 in Ukraine. Disobeying direct orders for internation in Rumania, Dirlewanger led his 600 strong force back through Rumania and into Germany where he was released fromt he army which frantically tried to follow the demands of the Entente in the Treaty of Versailles.

Yet Dirlewanger found no rest. The war had awakened a beast within him and it was not sated. Outfitted with his skills, prestige, unbridled rage over the defeat of his fatherland and a racist worldview induced by his service on the eastern front, Dirlewanger spent the next years in the german Freikorps roaming the country, seeking his thrill in putting down soviet revolutions and executing alleged communist collaborators. Yet he could not keep fighting forever and when he was headshotted in action in Silesia in 1921, Dirlewanger had to drop the Freikorps business to nurse himself back to full health. Yet the man could not keep still, picking up studies in Economic Sciences in Mannheim that same year...and being exmatriculated that same year for anti-semitism. He didn't give up though and continued studying in Frankfurt, gaining a doctorate in State Sciences in 1922.

Politically Dirlewanger was among the worst in Germany, signing up with the NSdAP in 1922 and the Nazis' SA in 1923 already just go get his thrills fighting the communists again now that the times of open and armed revolt and suppression had started to fade. But the Weimar Republic banned the SA, leaving Dirlewanger to sit inactive and with nobody left to punch to cope with his anger and rage. And so he instead gave himself to the bottle, drowning himself, his perverse needs and his grief and rage in a sea of alcohol while switching jobs as quickly as bottles. By 1928 he had become an executive director in a jewish-owned textile factory, keeping his anti-semitism low as well as having left the SA...but embezzled money which he donated to the SA in bulk, finding special pleasure within the fact that he made the jews pay for their own demise. Yet he was eventually forced to give up this job, having to work as an independent tax consultant but being rather quickly bailed out by his nazi friends, awarding him an SA position of power that could keep him afloat.

After Hitler assumed power Dirlewanger, as an "old fighter" and loyal member of the party was awarded an even higher position in a job center, allowing the nazis to strategically spread their influence over the unemployed. But as it always is in alliances of radicals...once the common enemy is defeated, they try to eat each other like sharks, the same going for Dirlewanger who complained about other old fighters about a lack of loyalty and the like which led to formerly suppressed charges against him being brought to light. He was convicted of the rape of possibly up to three minors in 1934 and sent to prison for 2 years. He also lost his doctorate and all his military honours. Upon release from prison he was charged with embezzlement, specifically the embezzlement he had done to support the party and SA. This time he was sent to the early concentration camps. But Dirlewanger had friends in high places. Friends who would not forget the services he had done them back in 1918, bringing them past the Rumanians and back to Germany without internment. Gottlob Berger, a high ranking memeber of the SS and former comrade of Dirlewanger, got him back out of there and had him sent to Spain together with the Legion Condor to wash his name clean with what he did best. Military service.

Dirlewanger served with disctintion among the Legion Condor where he also made new contacts, among those the head of the SSAfP, Haegler, who was testing out new weapons and methods of warfare. The two men got along, both absolutely lacking empathy or any form of feeling for their fellow humans and unrivalled in their ruthlessness. And as Dirlewanger returned in 1940 from Spain, he immediately entered the SS as well and, with his new alliances, managed to have a new court pick up his criminal cases and reinstate his doctorate and his military honors in a sham session. The advantages of a totalitarian state and being among the oppressors rather than the oppressed.

With the support of Haegler and Berger who had won over Himmler, Dirlewanger was put in charge of an entirely new unit, a penal battalion consisting only of gun-using poachers. Due to a lack of recruits the requirement was soon loosened to just poachers. He trained this unit, he built this unit and when they were sent east, to Lublin, they showed the depths of the new regime's depravity to the local polish and jewish population. Rape, looting, torture were common while Dirlewanger was there with his men, the situation becoming so bad that even fellow members of the SS wanted to have Dirlewanger and his unit removed from the organisation. But the madman had powerful allies in his back which saw a great future for the unit and so it was instead sent further east, into Belarus to quell local partisan resistance.

This was where the atrocities only began. The small but effecient Dirlewanger brigade took the words of the nazi leadership about the war of extermination in the eas to heart. Drinking, looting, raping, pillaging and murdering they travelled across the belarussian landscape, leaving nothing but the charred remains of villages and corpses in their wake. They rarely caught actual partisans and when they did, they took care of them with their superior equipment and supply situation as well as a complete and utter disregard for casualties. Dirlewanger, being a well respected and charismatic leader among his men, a leader who led from the front and partook or even ordered every depravity these soldiers could think of whipped the unit ever onward into a bloodthirsty frenzy in which the soared across the plagued country.

The unit was continuosly reinforced with every dreg of society the nazis could find. Mental asylum patients, murderers, rapists, thiefs and thugs. And Dirlewanger let his connections to the SSAfP play. The people within the unit were already seen as worthless so it took little convincing to have the SSAfP use them as test subjects in their perverted experments, creating the dreaded, mechanical warriors that the unit would later field.

The climax of the carnage came in 1944. The Warsaw Uprising. Hitler demanded that the city be razed to the ground and its people be made an example of. The SS complied, sending the worst they had into the city. The Dirlewangers which turned the city into pure hell for the duration of the uprising. The poles fought bravely yet what was bravery in the face of such overwhelming terror? Gas attacks, flamethrowers and mechanical monstrosities ruled the streets. Civilians were lucky to be only displaced as tens of thousands perished in the city. By the time the nazis were finished, 90% of Warsaw was in ruins.

Dirlewanger and his unit were then reassigned to Slovakia to quell the national uprising there before being withdrawn from the frontline on command of the SSAfP. The core of the unit as well as all paranormal units were removed, the unit instead being outfitted and expanded with concentration camp inmates and Wehrmacht penal troops and designated as a Waffen Grenadier Division before being sent back. Dirlewanger, wounded due to a chest shot, was also withdrawn and told to hide out in an alpine hut in Bavaria while the SSAfP would attempt to get him and his unit out as stealthily as possible. But fate caught up with Dirlewanger, french troops finding and arresting him in his hut ont he 7th of May 1945.

And his life of debauchery and cruelty received its just punishment as Dirlewanger was killed exactly a month later by polish prison guards who had recognized the man. He was brutally beaten to death overnight in his cell, the true identities of his killers never found out. And given their victim, nobody ever wanted to. Dirlewanger's body was buried just a week later.

But that was not the end...Wehrwolf loyalists recovered the body shortly after on orders of the dreaded Dr. Mengele who in turn was under orders to ensure Dirlewanger's survival. Mengele had little to work with, given that Dirlewanger's body was in bad shape, the bones and organs being mostly destroyed and the body having already started to rot...but Mengele was one of the best in the Nazis' pseudoscience and he found a way to reanimate Dirlewanger's corpse, tearing his soul back from the endless abyss it had been sent to and bringing an unlife back to his broken body. Dirlewanger would be once more. Now, his body was in no shape to continue fighting so Mengele had to give Dirlewanger the same treatment as he had given many of his men during the war. The application of a mechanical shell, a body that would be able to do what Dirlewanger's actual body was incapable of. The nazi scientist built the metal shell around the nazi zombie he had created, cladding the rotten flesh in armour and inserting hydraulics and electric currents into it. And in 1946, Dirlewanger would walk once again, his new body a marvel of human engineering and far beyond its time.

Following his rebirth, Dirlewanger was suddenly faced with the grim realization, that although he was alive again, he could not partake in life anymore. It was unlife that had been given to him and he was still dead for all intents and purposes. His body was not actually working, even though it was moving. His senses seemed dulled or something for he could not feel as he had felt before. Not the soft breeze, the warmth, see the vibrancy of colours...nothing. Life had become dull and grey...

...except for one thing. Blood. When Dirlewanger made his first kill with his new body, he spilled a lot of blood and was surprised by its colour and sudden vibrancy. It was life force, life force that was spilling out and he could see it. And it was the most beautiful thing he had ever watched, seeing it all spill out of the body and vanish. Well, perhaps it wasn't the most beautiful but it was the only thing that made him feel alive. Killing people. Brutally. It also allowed him to finally live out his anger, borne from his envy of those who were still living.

Dirlewanger made his way to the Middle East in 1947, his trusty sense of conflict knowing exactly where he would find it, find the opportunity to kill, find the opportunity for war. He served as an advisor to the Syrian and Egyptian regimes from 1948 to the Yom-Kippur War in 1973, creating ties and networks first for OdeSSA and then for the emerging SSAfP. Having finally been ousted from Syria, Dirlewanger was forced to flee to Lebanon from where he started marshalling smaller groups for smaller attacks on Israel before being forced out of Lebanon by the Israeli invasion of 1982, forcing him to yet again seek shelter...this time in Iraq where he became an advisor to Saddam Hussein, his knowledge and experience being much appreciated in the first Gulf War that Iraq found itself in. He was also the one in charge of the infamous WMD project that led to the final US invasion of Iraq and forced Dirlewanger to abandon ship once again and make his way west, back to Syria where he would would act in an advisory role to the Assad family, most recently being behind the gas attacks in the Syrian Civil War and an argent proponent of the usage of barrel bombs.

With the fall of the SSAfP, Dirlewanger vanished from the Middle Eastern theatre, likely doing his own part to try and keep the organisation together despite all the forces from within and without tearing at it.

Accepted.

1. I'd say twice as fast.
2. Okay.
3. Okay then. I'll make it that he just escaped with everyone else in a normal manner.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Spencer Inwood
    Aliases: Afterlife
    Gender: Male
    Age: Physically 22, actually 34
    Appearance:

Motivations
Goals: Redemption - After meeting his presumed end, Spencer vengefully pursued the hero that slew him for several years to exact what he considered justice. With the hero's death, Spencer was granted his true return to the material world. He is wracked by guilt over his actions, and has taken to heroism as a personal form of penitence, hoping that it will help him cope in some way.

Protection - After being killed by a reckless hero himself, Spencer hopes to protect the world's citizens from villains while also being aware of the incredible havoc he and his peer's powers can cause.

Fears: Carelessness - A holdover from his own death, his second greatest fear is condemning an innocent bystander to the same fate he suffered over a decade prior due to his own carelessness in confronting a villain.

Death...again - Ironically, his close association with the powers of the afterlife and his own death have left him fearful of the day his new, unnatural life will inevitably end and he will be forced to return to that limbo he escaped from. While he is currently able to be cast back into this realm if his phylactery is removed from his body, the effect is temporary and he will return in a week's time in a location of his choosing. This fear has driven him to sometimes be overly cautious, as he can still be killed magically, given his opponent has the means to severe his phylactery and permanently dispose of it.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Spencer's power derives from an inadvertent and cruel pact with a being from another realm. The being appears to him as a purple mist, shaping itself to vaguely resemble a cloaked silhouette.
Powers : Curse/Hex inducement - Spencer's primary ability, he is able to bring ill upon anyone he can name -- either by their given name or aliases he learns. He can also cast simple hexes on objects, for instance, willing a firearm not to work properly for a time. This could mean anything from the weapon suddenly jamming at its most innocent, to the weapon exploding in its wielder's hands at most drastic.

For people the process is similar. If Spencer wishes for them to fall ill, eventually that person will become sick. If he desires they fall and break a specific bone however, or come down with a specific illness, he can't simply speak the hex. He first requires a personal effect of the person, such as hairs or personal belongings. He then offers pieces of himself, ranging from bloodletting for less complex hexes to portions of his very soul for such powerful curses such as imminent death, or incredibly specific wishes. Each time he casts a hex which requires these pieces of himself, he shortens his own after-life-span, hastening his presumed return to abyssal limbo.

All hexes require him to be able to speak, and the curses are at their most powerful the closer he is to the person, acting much more quickly and with more severity. If he were to wish death or sickness upon someone on the other side of the globe, it would take decades for that to materialize.

Unnatural allies - In a 10 foot radius, Spencer is able to call upon powers from the strange realm that entrapped him to offer up assistance in the form of other people the grim afterlife has imprisoned. Without much concentration, he can summon spectral hands and feet reaching from the afterlife into the material world. Most often he uses these extra appendages as boons in close combat, tearing and tripping his opponents, but he can also use them to absorb kinetic projectiles. The limbs possess above-average strength comparable to a professional athlete, but not superhuman. He can summon up to five of any combination.

With much more concentration, he is able to summon another full body, shrouded in a wispy purple smoke, to his aid. He greatly weakens himself physically to do so, and if his concentration is disrupted by a firm blow or a sudden loud noise, the form dissipates. This form possesses strength comparable to Olympic-level lifters, able to toss aside and grapple average men with ease, and overpower most who do not have superhuman strength. Spencer has no control of the figure however, and it does not employ any high-skill martial arts or finer fighting techniques.

Unnatural blades - Spencer can summon six-inch spectral daggers in his hands. These mainly function as normal weapons, but cannot be thrown. If Spencer is able to draw blood with these weapons he can curse the wounded individual more potently.

Medium - While it's unclear to Spencer if the afterlife he ended up bound to is the ultimate destination for everyone, he has been able to commune with people he once knew. To do so requires little effort on his part, if they are willing to speak with him.
Abilities: Out of necessity, Spencer has developed his skills as a close combatant and knife fighter. While he prefers to grapple and attempt to incapacitate foes by either restraining them or breaking limbs if necessary, he is a skilled hand at using the ethereal blades he is able to summon. He is particularly swift with his hands, and his overall agility is notable, trained to compliment his preferred tactics. His skills are most applicable in small-scale confrontations, and his utility against metahumans with powers more suited for direct combat is extremely limited.
Equipment: Spencer produces everything he needs for combat through his powers, but if his phylactery is removed from his person at any time, he will be temporarily cast back into the afterlife he escaped from. It is a crudely crafted golden necklace, a wiry cage twisted around a thick, smooth, purple-black stone. The inside of the gem swirls wildly, giving it the appearance of a deep purple nebula. This jewelry is essentially grafted into his skin, but it can be pried from his person with effort.
Weaknesses: (These are things that will put you at a disadvantage in combat. Personality traits are not weaknesses. Use these to keep your character balanced. It is not essential that you add them, if myself or the Co-OPs think they're necessary we'll help you out with making them.)

Hello, I'll be reviewing your application

Before reviewing the powers, I will need to ask you to add a weakness section, as part of the judgement if a given app is good, or it needs a nerf is how well the weaknesses balance the powers

Anyway, onto the powers

So far nothing screams overpoweredness, I am going to need you to specify one thing

With much more concentration,

How much exactly? Does Spencer need to meditate hours on end, or do something else?

Addressed. Mostly just applied weaknesses that were stated in other app areas, though if those are for whatever reason insufficient they can be expanded.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Erik Fregel
    Aliases: Angel of Vengeance/Simikiel
    Gender: A Man
    Age: Chronologically 97; biologically 25.
    Appearance:
    Erik
    (Image)

    Simikiel
    (Image)

Motivations
    Goals:
His goal, at least the one he reveals to the other members of the syndicate, is to make it so that metahumans will be the ones to rule the world. All those who stand in the way of this goal must be destroyed.

However, he has another goal: to give Ana new life. Literally. This however contradicts with his first goal, as giving Ana a new body will make him lose his meta abilities.

He also wants to kill every last Nazi on the planet.
    Fears:
Dying, as he is soul bonded with his sister and if he dies, so does she for good.

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Soul Bond with his deceased metahuman sister, Ana.
    Powers :

Chains of Vengeance: Simikiel fires two chains made of ethereal energy forward for a distance of up to 30 meters at a relatively slow speed. They do not injure nor damage anything or anyone they encounter on the way, but they will pass through. Once they have either reached their maximum range or if Simikiel wills it, the chains snag the last object or person that they have phased through towards him. This does not cause injuries or pain by itself. He can make the chains disappear at will.

Chains of Wrath: Simikiel creates two 6 feet long chains made of ethereal energy that have glaives on their ends and wields them in battle. These glaives are sharp enough to slice through unprotected flesh. The chains themselves cannot be intercepted, but the glaives can be blocked.

Azrael's Gift: Simikiel manifests a ghostly scythe into realspace. He wields this weapon with utter mastery. The scythe also charges energy every time a person within a radius of 50 meters dies; five deaths allows it to fire an outburst of energy with the force of a shotgun.

Death Incarnate: Simikiel is capable of transforming his body into an incorporeal form. In this state, he is incapable of affecting his surroundings, though he can pass through solid objects, cannot be harmed by non-magical attacks, can float up to 50 meters from the ground, and is invisible to the naked eye. He can bring one other person with himself while incorporeal. He cannot remain in this state indefinitely and will turn back to a corporeal form after 10 minutes. He can still be sensed by magic users and thermal sensors. This has a cooldown of 10 minutes in between uses.

Soul Leech: With a slow and deliberate process that may take up to an hour, Simikiel is able to heal his own injuries and extend his lifespan by draining life from a living mammalian creature. This causes excruciating pain to the one being drained from beginning to end.

Rapid Reflexes: Simikiel processes information and stimuli much faster than an ordinary human. As such, his reaction times are twice as fast.

    Abilities:
Expert Combatant: He has honed himself in both marksmanship and unarmed melee combat. He is thus both a highly accurate shooter and a dangerous fighter.

    Equipment:

1 Barrett M82 Sniper rifle (always in his car's trunk)
4 daggers he keeps in his boots and inner pockets
2 Glock sidearms he always keeps on himself
A pair of magnetic armbands that he uses to attract his weapons back to himself
    Weaknesses:

Magic: Due to the overflow of otherworldly power within his body, magical attacks tend to weaken his abilities and himself.

Traumatic Past: Mentioning the names of Ana, Leonora, Thomas, and Jemma cause him to hesitate due to the outburst of painful memories associated with them.

Injury: Being injured while in his physical form prevents him from turning to his incorporeal form.

Background:
Job: Part of the metahuman syndicate in secret. He is a jeweler in public.
Legal Status: Simikiel is a wanted terrorist; Erik is just the owner of a jewel shop.
    Backstory:
Erike Fregel was born in 1923 in the city of Poznan, Poland. He was part of Poland's sizable Jewish community, and the Fregels especially were moderately wealthy owners of a bakery. Not much happened for most of his early dats, as Erik pretty much lived a normal life for a boy at the time. That is, until the German Reich invaded the Republic of Poland. Poznan, and eventually all of Poland fell to the Germans and the Soviet Union. Deaths were many and the nation was once again the boot of foreign powers, but that wasn't the worst yet.

At first, the tendrils of hatred of subtle and silent like serpents in the darkness. However, it soon intensified; the Fregels were forced out of their home and business. They were placed into a ghetto, where disease was rampant. Erik and his family lived there in terrible conditions… until they were rounded up and placed on a truck sometime in 1941. They were sent to the Sobibor Concentration Camp, wherein all of them, except for Erik, were gassed immediately upon arrival.

Erik was irreversibly changed that day as he, a young man at the time, was ripped away from his family. The Nazis forced him and the others who were seen to be fit for work to slave labor, toiling from morning to evening. He believed that he would not last long after that. Next thing he would see the next day were the bodies piled up near the furnace, and the Nazi devils told him that he was going to help with carrying them to the furnace.

After some time of unrelenting slavery and toil, he heard a voice in his sleep. Not just any voice, in fact. It was his sister, Ana. She spoke into his mind and to his soul; she was like a ghost that none could sense save for her voice. Erik believed that he was going mad, but Ana assured him that he wasn't crazy. She was a metahuman, one with the power to bind her consciousness to another person and grant them abilities in the process. It wasn't until her untimely death in the showers that she realized her gift, but still, she was alive, in a sense.

Some time would pass before the historic escape from Sobibor was planned by an ex-Soviet Jewish officer that was in the camp. It was around this time that Erik's power finally manifested. He had gained the ability of a howling ghost (incorporeal form, ethereal chains, and summoning a scythe). In addition, he was also able to reverse his ageing and heal himself by draining the life out of living creatures; by the time the plan of escape was enacted, he had been able to control his abilities to the full. He would be instrumental in killing some of the SS officers that managed the camp, but they still have mishaps as they weren't able to assassinate all of them. However, 300 out of the 600 inmates still managed to escape.

In 1946, he emigrated to the United States, settling in New York City. He kept a low profile life, taking various jobs over 14 years until he exposed his abilities when he attempted to shield a friend from a gunshot. While the government easily suppressed the news, agents injected him with tranquilizers in the dead of night and brought him to a testing facility. There, they experimented on him, and wondered about the discrepancy between his age and the brand on his arm. They confirmed most of his abilities, albeit with excruciatingly painful experiments; so much so that one of the personnel, Leonora, in the facility began to show sympathy. The head researcher reminded her of her duties; that the man in that cell was a subject, nothing more, nothing less. In the end, however, she helped Erik escape from the facility. Details are scant and the files of the incident have been heavily classified, but some records say she placed a few mice in his cell.

Erik along with Leonora crossed over towards Mexico, where they stayed for the next thirty years. It was at this time that Erik had his own family, with two children named Jemma and Thomas. He allowed himself to age; Ana had been silent.

In 1988, Leonora died from leukemia. In 1990, Jemma and Thomas, who were returning to their home after a night in the movies, were both fatally shot in a crossfire between rival gangs. Erik had once again lost those he had grown to care.

First, he survives the Holocaust with all its horror. And then, he gets experimented on for trying to save someone. And then… his family dies. Again. In the long life that he had lived, Erik lost everyone each time he tried to be a good, functional member of society. Now, Erik Fregel has taken on the mantle of Simikiel, the Angel of Vengeance. Simikiel has been operating alongside the metahuman syndicate in the last few years, gaining the reputation of a dangerous criminal that is practically immune to gunfire. However, Erik Fregel is just some jeweler in Tijuana… No?

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Reggie Arnold
    Aliases: Skinpopper
    Gender: Male
    Age: 25
    Appearance:
    Image

Motivations
Goals: Get rich, find a way to keep his high permanent
    Fears: Overdose

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: The chemical compound found in his heroin
Powers : Mind Spike: Reggie is capable of reaching into up to three person’s minds when they are within 30 feet and line of sight. This requires his full concentration, and leaves him defenseless against outside attack. He must select the targets at the beginning of the effect, and to acquire a new target, he must end the effect.

When mind spiked, the target feels similar to an intense migraine. This effect must be actively ended by Reggie, and lasts for roughly 10 seconds past when Reggie ends his active attack.

Mind Squeeze: If allowed to hold a mind spike against a single target for 5 minutes, the target will fall into a coma, which can last anywhere between a day and a week. Recovery time can be sped up via healing powers, whether external or internal.

Pain tolerance: When high, Reggie’s pain tolerance is inhuman. He’s capable of shrugging off loss of limbs or gunshots as if nothing had happened at all.

Mind reading[i/]: When high, can read the surface level thoughts of anyone within 20 feet. Surface level thoughts are just that; inner monologue, including plans and other mental communications.

    Abilities: Bachelor’s in biochemistry

    Equipment: Monkey rider
: A specialized strain of heroin Reggie stumbled on during his attempt to develop a battlefield drug capable of neutralizing pain. It interacts uniquely with Reggie’s mind, giving him his abilities and lasting around 20 minutes per injection. When injected in a more standard person, it provides the same inhuman pain tolerance it provides Reggie, along with a minor heroin high.

Notably, this is practically pure heroin, and can very quickly cause an overdose. Because of this, Reggie has developed a special syringe meant to hold what is essentially a micro dose, and that can be fired out of...

Poker: A compressed air rifle capable of firing specialized syringes at roughly the speed of an airsoft rifle. The syringes are capable of piercing any cloth but is defeated by any body armor.

Weaknesses: Dependence: All of Reggie’s abilities are dependent on his heroin. Without it, he’s a normal guy, albeit a genius.

Background:
    Job: Drug dealer
    Legal Status: Villain
Backstory: If you asked when Reggie’s life went downhill, he’d never be able to tell you. He’d guess, for certain. When his mom left, when his dad started drinking, when his buddy offered him a joint. Plenty of spots. He kept up straight A’s in every class he took, he took every extracurricular that came his way, and when the time came, he was in Harvard in a heartbeat.

But there’s one moment where he fell off the edge.

It was supposed to be his thesis, not a paper but a drug. A drug that would revolutionize warfare. A drug that would turn a normal human into a superhero, capable of making them into walking tanks. He should’ve known better than to test it on himself, but he was paranoid, afraid any test subject he were to hire would rat him out for his less than legal activities. He would be lying if he said he wasn’t afraid they would steal his formula.

When he found out just what his drug did to him, he was disgusted. He’d failed, and he couldn’t have that. In his rage, he reached out, and squeezed. He found the woman in the apartment above him dead next week, when she started to smell. It didn’t take him much to connect the dots, and suddenly he realized just how much more he could be. He finished his degree and vanished, though he has been sighted in various heroin dens across New York. Oddly, death rates in these dens almost always go up.

Is the villain rule still in place? I have an idea for a villain but not one for a hero.

Yes it is.

I personally generally recommend doing a hero as tjose have a lot more to do than villains and are generally used "full-time" while villains are much more..."part-time".

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

    Name: Grace Lopez, PhD

    Aliases: Bliss

    Gender: Female

    Age: 26

    Appearance:
    Image

Motivations

Goals: To establish a criminal empire and rule over New York from the shadows

Fears: Being exposed as a criminal, losing the respect of her peers.

Strengths and Weaknesses

    Source of Power: Genetic Experimentation

    Powers :

Rapture: Grace is capable of emanating a cloud of green-tinted gas she calls Rapture, both off of her skin to slowly permeate a room and breathing out clouds of the gas. This gas is a highly potent and addictive drug that causes hallucinations, disorientation, and euphoria in those who breathe it in. Long-term exposure can also cause those who breathe it in to become highly suggestible to Grace's commands. In extreme concentrations the gas can lead to overdose and death via asphyxiation.

Enhanced Mentality: Grace was genetically engineered to have a greater capacity for learning and understanding new information. When she took the Stanford–Binet IQ test, she scored 197. She is incredibly intelligent by human standards, and capable of learning new information at an incredible rate.

Enhanced Beauty: Grace was genetically engineered to her parent's ultimate standard of beauty, and as such is considered incredibly conventionally attractive, almost enough to fall into the uncanny valley.

    Abilities:

Doctorate: Grace has a PhD in Chemistry, and is extremely adept in that field.

Manipulator: Because of the nature of her powers and the environment that she grew up in, Grace is a master at manipulation. She is able to pass as a fully functioning member of society, despite her inherent lack of remorse or real emotions. She can fake emotions rather well, though she does have trouble with properly displaying remorse on her face.

Good Shot: Grace is a decent shot with a pistol, able to accurately hit a target consistently at a distance of up to 50 yards.

    Equipment:

    SIG Sauer P365

    Weaknesses:

Untrained: Grace has absolutely no combat training other than practicing her shooting at a firing range, and in a physical confrontation she must rely on others or the disorienting effects of her drug if she hopes to escape unscathed.

Background:

Job: Professor of chemistry at Columbia University

Legal Status: Dr. Grace Lopez is a US citizen of good legal standing. Bliss is a legendary boogeyman spoken of in hushed whispers by the criminal community.

Backstory: Grace Lopez was born to a geneticist and chemist that had been taken in by a eugenicist cult, which believed that the end of the world was coming soon and that in order to survive, they needed to bring about the next stage of human evolution. They carefully grew a young girl in a vat, changing her genetic code and subjecting her to untested genetic therapies to grant her enhanced intelligence and beauty, as well as the ability to influence those around her. The easiest way to do that, they thought, was to give her the ability to release a gas with heavy psychoactive effects, which they spent many long months perfecting until it was a potent and addictive drug. When she was complete, she was raised in a compound by the cult, who regarded her as their messiah and the next step in human evolution, teaching her that there was nothing that she couldn't have if she simply asked for it. The cult, from the outside, appeared relatively harmless, if a little creepy to the small Pennsylvania town that they sometimes went to in order to buy equipment that they couldn't make themselves.

Which is why when the town didn't hear from the cult for a few weeks, the concerned citizens reached out to the police and asked them to check on the small community. When the police got there, they found a scene out of Jonestown. All 134 members of the cult had committed suicide by one method or another--most commonly poisoning, but there were a few that had hung themselves, while the leader had put a shotgun to the roof of his mouth. The only survivor was a young girl, perhaps five years old, who acted the part of a distraught survivor who had been through a traumatic experience very well. The suicides made international news, and spurred a many years-long investigation that never produced any results, and remains a mystery talked about by many true crime podcasts to this day.

Of course, the reason they never found out what drove the community to suicide was because Grace had orchestrated the whole thing.

Grace had grown bored with the community, and tired of the advances made on her by the cult's "charismatic leader" when her "parents" weren't around. She had slowly exposed the group to Rapture over the course of weeks, getting them slowly addicted by adding it to the water supply and putting out a light misting at every meeting, which grew more and more frequent over the course of three weeks. At the last one, when the entire community was in a dazed, drug-addled state and so high that they would have done anything asked of them, Grace sweetly suggested that since they had already created the next stage of human evolution, their purpose had been fulfilled. Now, the only thing left for them to do was kill themselves, and make way for the next wave of humanity.

They had all smiled, agreed, and set about killing themselves as soon as they possibly could.

Grace thrived in the Foster System, thanks in no small part to being able to control the people she interacted with through both subtle manipulations and chemical control. She was adopted after only a year by the Lopez family, an older couple that had always wanted a child, and quickly began to manipulate her future so that she would have the best possible life. She set herself up as a model student and model child, manipulating both her new parents and her teachers, eventually gaining entry to a private school that she ended up ruling. Grace quickly grew into a beautiful young woman, graduated high school early, and became one of the youngest Harvard students to ever get a Doctorate in applied chemistry at 19 years old. In secret, she began building her criminal empire. She almost never met anyone in person, preferring to act through intermediaries and people made chemically loyal and dependent on her.

By this point, Dr. Grace Lopez was a household name in the academic community, having published many papers on various chemical compounds and discovering several painkillers more effective and safer than morphine, secretly derived from variations on the chemical structure of Rapture. Bliss, on the other hand, is a boogeyman in the criminal underworld. Most drug traffic in the American north east runs through her network at one point or another, and every gang and cartel in the area knows to buy from Bliss or face the consequences.

Gods Among Us Character Application
Character Description
    Name:Elias Sayid
    Aliases: Flayed
    Gender: M
    Age: 43
Appearance: He is 2.1 meters tall man, fit, his eyes are blue, he is bald, the whole of his skin is marked with deep, long wounds, in several places his skin is simply missing while large portions of it are essentially hanging by only a couple of cells, he wears dark jeans and no shirt

Motivations
Goals: Help people so that they won't have to suffer as he did, getting transferred to TIAMA ME
    Fears: Fear of suffocating

Strengths and Weaknesses
    Source of Power: Genetic mutation
    Powers :
Pain Durability he is able to withstand punches, stabs, gunshots, and potentially other life threatening injuries, as long as he feels or felt pain in the past hour, it scales on a 1:2 ratio, i.e if he would take a severe beating with a baseball bat or some other blunt weapon, he would be able to withstand a stab, if he was stabbed, he would be able to withstand a gunshot and so on, the durability lasts for an hour, his durability does not negate pain, i.e even if he could withstand a stab, getting stabbed would steal deal the pain it usually does.
Healing Factor he is able to heal insanely fast, if his limb would be detached and then stuck back to the wound it would reconnect in 24 hours and start functioning again within 72 hours, minor cuts and bruises are healed in minutes while bigger wounds in hours, anything short of total decapitation or destruction of the brain will not kill him, except poisoning, drowning, disease, the ability for some reason does not heal the skin.
    Abilities: IT training
    Equipment: M1911 Colt
    Weaknesses:
No Pain, No Gain without pain, he is not durable, if you managed to inflict enough damage so that his healing factor could not work ( like blowing his head off, or ripping out his heart ) before dealing prior damage, he would still die.
No Breath even while being durable, he is still able to be suffocated to death.
PTSD blades, swords and knives trigger a fight or flight response, suffers from other associated symptoms of PTSD

Background:
    Job: Half-Time TIAMA Hero
    Legal Status: Legal (?)
Backstory: Born in 1977 to a Syrian immigrant and American woman, he spent his early life mostly in New York, after completing his education degree when he was around 24 years old he joined one of the companies that at the time was making personal computers and whatnot, he stayed in there until March of 2011. In March of 2011, he was visiting his extended family in Syria, when the civil war broke out, leaving him stranded in the war-torn country, over the course of the war he was abducted by one of the parties operating in the region, he was taken to interrogation which unfortunately involved torture.

Over the course of several months which he spent on barely surviving to being beaten up and cut up, it's suspected his metahuman gene activated as a reaction to his condition, this unfortunately did not stop his abductors from trying to perform a execution on him, which was thankfully botched as his head wasn't completely cut off, hanging to the rest of his body with a few scraps of skin, muscle tissue, and a nerve. He eventually recovered thanks to his healing factor, after recovering amid the desert and making his way to civilization he set out to find the terrorists which captured and tortured him.

It was unfortunate that most of them were now scattered throughout the world in different cells, but it would make due, Elias's most recent finding pointed him towards America. After finding and disposing of the last person involved in his torture and execution in the US, he finally revealed himself as the missing and declared dead Elias Sayid, though unrecognizable, he soon joined TIAMA so that he may prevent others from being subjected to what he was too, he hoped to be transferred to TIAMA ME but ended up in North America section.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

    Name: Dr. Nessa Eileen Monahan

    Aliases: Reagent

    Gender: Female

    Age: 27

    Appearance:
    Image
Reagent's uniform consists of a vaguely skin-tight bodysuit that covers everything from the neck down. It is highly resistant to a wide variety of chemicals, though no more than a typical high-quality HAZMAT suit, mostly in black and blue. Beyond this, she has a roughly conical black gas mask that covers her entire face, with circular blue lenses. Her hair, oddly for a superheroine with chemical-related powers, is exposed. There is a large box on her back with a number of circular lids in a variety of sizes, though none are more than the size of a half-dollar coin. The lids are caps to a variety of canisters that can be filled with a variety of compounds. When Nessa needs one, she selects the necessary components using an array of buttons on her right arm, and the corresponding canisters rise from the box and either unseal directly or drain into a hose that she can extend and connect to a grenade launcher, her primary weapon. Lastly, there is a "labcoat" that is under the "box" but over the bodysuit that can extend into a wingsuit, or snap itself close to her body so as not to get in the way.

    Motivations

Goals: Nessa's goals are admittedly rather self-serving. She intends to make a name for herself, and work on whatever projects strike her fancy with the money and fame that come with it.

Fears: More than death, demons, or disability, Nessa's greatest fear by far is failure. Her worst nightmare, her personal Hell, is to be forced with her tail between her legs back to the hope-sucking black hole of despair that is the land of her birth. That that song about a certain mining town in eastern Kentucky holds as true for her as it has for the rest of her family.

    Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Metahuman ancestry that may have skipped a few generations

      Powers :
      • Alchemy - Essentially, as long as she has the chemical components necessary for its creation, she can trigger any chemical reaction herself. In theory, it can work with magical components - her exact definition of her main power is "the combining of parts to induce a reaction without the need for any external stimuli excepting her powers and the parts themselves", though she has never tried. It also works in reverse, allowing her to delay reactions long enough to bottle them in grenades.

      • Telekinesis - Exactly what it sounds like. If I have to explain what telekinesis is, I will slap you with a live tuna.

Abilities: She has a PhD in chemistry from USC which she got via a full ride scholarship, which she is damned proud of. One hell of a throwing arm. Decent enough at engineering, but no more than the average weapon-wielding would-be-hero, really.

Equipment: The costume, as described above. 40 mm grenade launcher and "portable chemistry set" on her back, as described above. Of her own design. She also typically has a few grenades with "the usual Stuff" - smoke grenades, acid grenades, fast-drying concrete, and flashbangs are the usual. She also typically carries a relatively basic bowie knife.

Weaknesses: Nessa cannot alter the chemical or physical properties of a substance besides halting the reaction (and this takes far more effort than triggering it), and she cannot create something from nothing. Her Alchemy has a range of 3 meters for complex reactions, 5 meters for simple reactions, and line-of-sight for reactions that could have taken place without any stimuli at all. She cannot control reactions she does not understand herself, though she can cause them. Her telekinesis is limited to line-of-sight and things she would have been able to lift without it, plus 40 to 50 kilos or so.

    Background:

Job: Chemical engineer, Gradius Labs, Los Angeles

      Legal Status: Registered hero

      Backstory:
To get into Nessa's backstory, one must first understand where she is from. Wilskitt, Kentucky is an unincorporated town in eastern Harlan County that is just as much a dump as the song about the county seat claims about Harlan itself. Harlan County in particular and eastern Kentucky as a whole had not been prosperous for a while, thanks to overall reductions in the use of dirty, dangerous-to-mine, and non-renewable coal. It was a fine enough place to live, though, so long as you were able to weather the poverty and the expectations people often had of life. She lived with her grandfather, as her parents had both died when she was two in a car accident. But Nessa was a very smart little girl, and unfortunately for her, wholly uninterested in colliery, logging, or teaching. "Chemistry" was another matter, but a little girl in a moonshine still is a spontaneous visit from the ATF waiting to happen. So cooking it was, and her first job was at a local "family" restaurant, which was essentially the restaurant half of a Cracker Barrel. She got it at fourteen, a few months after her powers kicked in.

Still, it was the 90s and early 2000s, so it wasn't too bad, and she did take up some aspects of her homeland in ways that stuck - crocheting, fishing, learning to shoot a (very small) rifle, learning to use her uncle's "perfectly legal" grenade launcher to blow up piles of wood pallets, and her first taste of whiskey at ten, followed by her first taste of "real" corn-based moonshine at thirteen. She graduated high school at the top of her class, naturally, despite enduring a fair amount of bullying, both overt and covert. The usual stuff for a nerdy girl in high school, if exacerbated by the circumstances of her birth and the coal economy.

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description
    Name: Reggie Arnold
    Aliases: Skinpopper
    Gender: Male
    Age: 25
    Appearance:

Gods Among Us Character Application

Character Description

Motivations
Goals: Use his powers to help people in name of the greater good, however that may be
Fears: Scared he may lose control of his mystical energies

Strengths and Weaknesses
Source of Power: Amulet that channels energies from other dimensions
    Powers :
Spell Casting: Mateo has the ability that allows him to magically alter reality to varying extents. It is often a series of words that take effect when spoken. Initially, he cast his magic through a unique form of self-taught spell casting involving stating repeatedly an effect or action he wants to happen ("Water to ice, water to ice"), and has managed to precede from this method ever since. At varying times he is able to cast spells merely by thinking, though they are limited only to flight/levitation, thought-casting, and illusion casting. Certain actions can also be done with gestures, such as flinging someone out of the way with the wave of his hand. Finally, his magic may be enhanced with magical objects, such as the amulet he wears around his neck which provides him with the ability to channel his magic.

Solid Energy Constructs: Can generate and manipulate energy to create solid constructs such as disks, orbs, bursts, shields, platforms, force fields, and other projectiles or constructions.
    Abilities:
Multilingual: As a result of his heritage, Mateo is able to speak fluent Spanish and French, while becoming fluent in English through school. Among those 3, he also is conversational in Italian and German.
    Equipment: N/A
    Weaknesses:
Verbena: Like the rest of his family, Mateo has an allergic reaction when in contact with the herb Verbena. Within a few minutes after exposure through either inhalation or consumption, an uncontrollable shaking of the hands begins. It is possible to use his magic to cleanse his system of the herb if done soon enough, but prolonged exposure leads to weakness, pain, anxiety and inability to concentrate, which further intereferes with his ability to cast the proper spell to rid his body of the substance. If not taken care of soon, the herb will poison him.

His Amulet: Even though the amulet he wears provides him with a conduit for his mystical energy, and is thus an extension of himself, it comes with a price. If deprived from his amulet, he becomes unable to cast spells properly and they will cease until the amulet is returned, leaving him powerless. If the amulet is destroyed, then he no longer has a conduit, which could lead him to being overwhelmed by his own mystical energies with unknown consequences.

Background:
    Job: Herbalist
    Legal Status: Hero
Backstory: Mateo was born to two well known and respected warlock families in western Europe. His father, Alejandro Serrano, was known for having quite a ruthless personality when it came to dealing with opposing covens in his country of Spain. Meanwhile his mother, Genevieve Larue, had the reputation among the covens of northern France of being a kind and gentle healer, using her magic only if it meant she could help other people. To the surprise of many, the two of them would eventually conceive a child. At first Alejandro wanted nothing to do with this supposed child of his, and didn't believe Genevieve's claims, but over time he grew accustomed to the idea, with much needed help from Genevieve. Soon enough the child was born and the two decided it would be best to raise Mateo in secret, so that he wouldn't meet the eyes of either of their old foes. It worked, for about 10 years or so.

Shortly after Mateo had turned 10 he began to start having recurring nightmares of a snake eating its tail. This alerts his parents that he has become linked to an ancient binding ritual for an ancient spirit that often preys on warlock children. Mateo's parents teach him a spell that is supposed to help unlink him from the ritual. After attempting the spell, he is overwhelmed and falls unconscious. When he wakes, the spirt comes to him and Mateo becomes possessed. With the spirit now using Mateo as its vessel both of his parent's covens come together to extract the spirit out of him, however its must be divided and kept away from Mateo or else he will fall victim to it again. Alejandro and Genevieve take it upon themselves to become the new hosts for the spirit, as keeping it separated will contain it. Due to this, Mateo is prepped to be sent to a remote boarding school in the United States. Before his departure, he appears to suffer a relapse while its made clear that a sliver of the ancient spirit still lingers inside him. As a last ditch effort, his parents construct an amulet for him that is meant to contain the spirit within and also serves a secondary purpose of giving him a conduit to enhance his energies. Mateo has since lived out the rest of his life in the United States, and became part of TIAMA shortly after he graduated from school. Now he spends most of his time as an herbalist which really just gives him an excuse to fiddle with different spells in private, while also helping out others whenever he can.

Sorry, Anowa, but I might be leaving this RP.

I had fun with Tennerman, so far, but I feel constrained. Also, because, I'm not really good with numbers. Ironically, I roleplay a sciencey char, but all the science in this boggles my mind/confuses me from time to time. I kinda wish this was something more set in Fiction/Idealism than something focusing on Realism.

I try to churn out posts, but since I'm not really keen on realism or "Real" aspects, I don't think I can. I just suck at being "practical" and thinking-up practical weaknesses, or things I know my char'd know. I just feel constrained by how weak my char is, and also artistic liberties. In other RPs, I'm much more able to churn-out posts and focus on Creativity.

I know there can be issues w/ Superhero roleplays, such as power levels and powersets and all that, and that's why you've made everything "realistic," so that it can "make sense," but I'm looking for something fun.

I had faith in you, since I roleplayed in your last roleplay w/ RoTD, but I feel like I can't get as creative w/ Tennerman as I can explaining Geopolitics and Stewart Boatshire and whatnot.

The numbers thing, like I said earlier, I'm just bad with. I just so happen to be bad at Math and good at everything else. I just suck at Measurement and stuff like that.

I try so hard to keep-up with everyone else, but considering all of that I said, and that I try my hand at several other roleplays, I just can't. I put too much time into Roleplaying/Storytelling and Character Analysis; it goes to my detriment considering I'm in so many rps and I sometimes forget which rps I'm in since I lazer-focus on other roleplays and call them my "main" roleplay, churning-out posts there.

I said I "might" have to leave, as I'm not so sure if I really want to. I feel like if I do leave, I'd be putting Volume to waste and not really getting into his character some more, or letting him have Chemistry with other chars. Things that are overly-realistic get on my nerves, and I just quite like more "idealistic" or "play-pretend" stuff better than; "Oh, he was in (_Insert state here_) and he feels weak, and he wants to live a quiet life, he focuses on crime in his Community" and stuff like that.

In country roleplays, or other character-based roleplays, I could actually get a feel for the world, and feel like I understand everything going on and how my char'd fit into it. In this roleplay, I feel like I'm focusing on weaknesses and how my char is inadequate.

It sucks especially when you have a character with superintellgence/Intellect (like Tennerman) and then have him focus on fighting and building himself up, but he can't, since his suit has so many limits.

I also tried w/ Avery Grayson/Georgian Wildflower, and I like how she and George are dualities of eachother (Supersenses versus Intellect/Scientific Mind, Swordfighting versus Suit Combat, and etc)

I didn't make Lisa Tennerman because I wanted to do something fresh and new, and I also was thinking of introducing her later in the story, but I can't really, since I have these main feelings/concerns about this RP.
