While it's too soon to say whether Goya will earn more or lose money due to the recent events, especially in the long term, my question is how Trump thinks it's a good idea to focus on this in the middle of a pandemic and an economic disaster?

I know the answer, of course, and that's because he doesn't care about anything besides increasing his chances to get reelected.

Can the Cuban demographics alone keep Goya in the black?

Besides, the book says he has no impulse control and a need for affirmation which playing up culture war to his base readily provides.

All the supermarkets near me seem to have limited Goya cans to 2 per person now, so they seem to be doing well, ironically. It’s always funny when people buy things they don’t need to make political statements. I always love pride month as a small business owner for that very reason, put a rainbow on something and it sells out.

The limits may not have anything to do with the most recent situation, but may rather be due to a bean shortage and a result of stocking up due to the pandemic.

However, item limits have been commonplace at grocery stores, especially in canned goods aisles, since the beginning of the pandemic.

Canned goods, especially beans, have seen unprecedented demand, and grocery stores have been having a hard time keeping them in stock.

There's also a nationwide shortage of beans — US production of dry beans dropped by 16% last year, according to the USDA.

Gravlen wrote:"We expected something more than constant heckling from the man who was supposed to be our leader" - Republican governor Larry Hogan on how Trump shit the bed completely when Maryland needed federal help.

He also talks about how the White House was saying one thing publicly and another thing to governors.

We brought in Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, who was already widely admired but whose awesome knowledge and straight-talking style hadn’t yet made him a national rock star; CDC head Robert Redfield; Ken Cuccinelli, the acting deputy secretary of homeland security; Jay Butler, the CDC’s deputy director for infectious diseases; and Robert Kadlec, assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services.

They hit us with detailed presentations and the unfiltered truth, as well as it was known then. I remember hearing many dire claims: “This could be catastrophic. . . . The death toll could be significant. . . . Much more contagious than SARS. . . . Testing will be crucial. . . . You have to follow the science — that’s where the answers lie.”

It was jarring, the huge contrast between the experts’ warnings and the president’s public dismissals. Weren’t these the people the White House was consulting about the virus? What made the briefing even more chilling was its clear, factual tone. It was a harrowing warning of an imminent national threat, and we took it seriously — at least most of us did. It was enough to convince almost all the governors that this epidemic was going to be worse than most people realized.

If I recall, Hogan is an anti-Trump Republican. So is Charlie Baker. I'm not surprised Trump didn't help Hogan: in order to receive aid, he likely would have to lick Trump's boot. The fact he didn't pissed him off so, yeah...

Of course, 35-40% of the people don;t care either way: they'll vote him for regardless.

Oh no, he kissed ass, obviously knowing that it's necessary to kiss the ring if he wants anything done.

But still, 30% are not going to budge. What we're seeing now, however, is a slow bleed of independents and some republicans.

It's super gross. I had no idea what their politics were when I went, it was just a really gross sandwich I never wanted to eat it again. And I love chicken sandwiches.

Chick-Fil-A's success doesn't really hinge on outrage marketing or "owning the libs." They have created a dynamic and advantageous corporate culture that emphasizes a high-quality of customer service, excellent pay for employees, and an open-mind to novel technologies. They have also managed, through a combination of superior product consistency and strong marketing, to dominate their nearest competitors - companies like Popeye's and KFC. People who think they've only become popular because the management is religious are ignorant of the industry and of the corporate model and culture. The outrage if anything seems to have been an equal wash by and large. Kiss-ins probably didn't help much since presumably the LGBT couples were buying food. The main damage was done by college campuses booting Chick-Fil-A out.

That’s part of it. However, they did get a surge on the principle of owning the libs. When the anti-gay stances were shown and people said boycott them; cons surged purchased......

Somebody told me Goya is seeing that now.

Chick-Fil-A experienced short-term quarterly losses as a result of the boycott but then managed to pull off 14% annual growth in 2012 and open four more stores than the previous year. That's not really a massive surge given recent trends for them.

'My hair has to be perfect': Trump appears to lie about ventilators, people crying and more after boasting about appearance

Donald Trump turned an event on slashing regulations into another pseudo-campaign event in which he stressed the need for a "perfect" presidential coif – complete with false statements about the federal ventilator stockpile and crying guests at a bill-signing event.

"My hair has to be perfect," the president said as he riffed his way through parts of prepared remarks on nixing federal rules he said lead to cut jobs and slow the economy.

At one point, he touted his push to compel companies to bring back incandescent light bulbs, saying they are better than their energy-saving replacements because "we all look so much better."

The president also riffed about policy matters.

At one point, on the South Lawn of the White House on a hot and humid day in Washington, the president said the Obama administration left an empty supply of ventilators that hindered the federal government's ability to help states respond to the coronavirus outbreak.

"We didn't have ventilators," Mr Trump said, always eager to shift blame.

Only that his administration has admitted there were over 16,000 of the breathing machines in the federal stockpile that were ready for use in March when the virus began to spread in the United States

At the time, Trump administration officials put that figure at just 10,000.

He also said attendees at a 2017 bill signing cried like no one had ever balled. But a video suggests his guests that day were all smiles.

He again laid into former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, despite rules against using the White House for overtly political purposes. But with no federal entity showing any signs of cracking down on his new practice, expect him to continue doing so up to Election Day.

Mr Biden leads Trump in most of the key battleground states, according to multiple polls.

Wow

That is truly...bizarre, even by Trump standards.

It's super gross. I had no idea what their politics were when I went, it was just a really gross sandwich I never wanted to eat it again. And I love chicken sandwiches.

They do something weird to their chicken - rumor has it they marinate it in pickle brine, but Snopes says that's just an urban legend - but whatever it is, people either love it or hate it, with no middle ground. I'm in the "hate it" column.

I went to the grocery store last night, here in blue Vermont. The canned goods aisle has been pretty sparse in general the last few months - though it's not nearly as bad now as it was back in April, when the entire aisle had literally maybe a dozen cans total on the shelves, and even those were all weird stuff that no one wants to eat. There were holes on the shelves last night - I couldn't get the Cains mayonnaise that I usually buy - but there's no shortage of Goya beans.

Reminder: The pandemic Trump said was going to magically disappear with the warm weather has now killed more than 140,000 Americans and counting.
