The great divide has come. The American Civil War has started. But the names Grant, Lee or Sherman are not. It is our place. You can be any officer, from Lieutenant to General. You can choose the Confederacy or the Union. You will have to try and convince more troops to join. Enlarge your reputation. Be a great tactician. Be an unorthodox colonel. Kiss a politicians butt to rise in the ranks. Join Politiks. Be corrupt. Be a Politician. Be a business man.

Choices:
Officer:Commands units and can change a piece of war

Politician:Can rally people to join the war or contribute to it, and can help with equipment and help for troops

Business man (Agriculture/Industrial): can contribute money and can give goods (goods:Agriculture/Arms:Industrial) to troops

Spy: Can help show troop movement and or slow movement down.

Journalist: Can increase or decrease support for the war.

Basically, It is the American Civil War. But, Grant and Lee and Sherman and All the major Generals don't
Exist. So Some battles might never happen. So the RP'ers like Romextly makes new decisions and can make new battles, recruit more men. You can be a wide range of characters.

In 1857 he enlisted in the US regular amy fighting in several minor wars such as the Navajo wars, Paiute wars, third Seminole war and the first cortinista war where he distinguished himself in the battle of Rio Grande city winning with a force of 348 men against an army of about 700 with this act he was moved up to the rank of colonel and the civil war soon started in April of 1861. The civil war might be his most difficult challenge yet

Wasn't the rank of a colonel kind of a rank where competent officers have to prove themselves to get it? You could increase Hakor's age and write in he did something kind of distinguishable and he should be able to get in due to his influential origin

He was a captain with the 5th battalion fighting to help gain control of Texas during the war. When he heard that the state he fought for was seceded he weighed the options before deciding to go with the civil path, and aid in the end of the slave trade. Seen as a traitor to his people, when Texas seceded from the Union, he left with a small group of 10 soldiers and studied in small army combats, using the environment and guerrilla tactics to take over a small town at the edge of the state creating a foot hold for the union to fortify and use as a base of operations. The town and new garrison was outfitted with cannons and 15 more soldiers to hold control of the area. Robert was left in charge of the barracks and promoted to Major from Captain.

The son of wealthy landowners from his father's side and reputed revolutionary military officers from his mother's side, William had great ambitions even when he was young. He received some of the best private education of his day thanks to the wealth of his family, and excelled especially in history and mathematics. In his childhood years, he was a loner and social awkward but as he grew, he became more confident in his own abilities. Attending West Point, he proved to be an excellent student but lacked social awareness at first, only becoming better at social cues after the first year.

In the Mexican-American war, he distinguished himself. He managed to find routes that the Mexicans thought impassable but managed to get units through. He was promoted at a rapid rate (major, lieutenant colonel, colonel, captain) as he not only proved his tactical skills, but more than once participated in person in the battles. A legacy of the war is an injury on his right leg; while he can still walk, he is limping.

After the war ended, and while he was stationed at Fort Caroll, he wrote an autobiography of his time in Mexican-American War: Memoirs of A Soldier - My Experience of the Mexican War. Thanks to his family fortune's, it was widely distributed and aided his reputation as the public came to adore him as a hero. He would also write at local newspapers. Some fellow officers criticized him as building a personality cult and exaggerating his role in the war, which was partially true; William understood quite well how propaganda could make a simple officer a legend.

In 1853 he was appointed as Superintendent at West Point, a promotion which he sought. He also used this chance to connect himself with fellow officers and with politicians. While he still disliked social gatherings, he understood that rising to the top was a matter of connections as much as a matter of skills. In political matters, William was strongly supportive of state rights and opposed to the abolition of slavery, which he viewed as natural. He pointed out that the ancient Greeks and Romans also had slaves.

When the Confederacy seceded, he decided to follow his home state. At first he was a military advisor to the President of the Confederacy, advising that the war would be long, brutal and not an easy affair. He soon sought however military command, hoping to win military glory that would make him a legend. His long military career, public reputation, connections with politicians and fellow officers and his family's strong influence all played a key role on his appointment as General in Chief of the Confederate Armies.
