IC DATE: July 4, 2020
The Independence Day is here! As the town gets ready for the festivities, politicians rally their troops to make a good impression on the voters. Parties will take place across the city as will various forms of political agitation. Where will your characters spend their day? At official festivities organized by the Mayor and City Council or at a friends home? Or maybe on the streets, trying to win over the hearts and minds of the townsfolk?
Background Information
"Welcome to Anson!" (or simply Anson) is a character-based RP, located in the fictional city of Anson, Texas. The newly founded city (see the detailed map below) has attracted individuals of all walks of life over the course of it's short history, giving every player the ability to craft their character largely to their liking. A mix of social and political RP will have player characters engage in everyday activities, special events and - if they choose to - municipal politics.
Apply as a teacher, store-owner, local politician or teenager. Your character is limited only by your imagination and the inescapable reality of being a mortal human being.
Named after one of the Presidents of Texas, Anson is a recently-founded city located on the coast of Texas, overseeing the majestic Baffin Bay. Built on reclaimed wetlands and swamps, the newest addition to Kenedy County quickly became an attractive place to live. Low housing costs, newly built facilities such as the James K. Polk High School and potential for personal growth attracted a considerable number of individuals of all classes, backgrounds and ages bringing much needed wealth and skills with them. Soon, what was formerly the site of a small fishing village became a respectable city with over 20,000 residents. Located less than 90 miles from the US-Mexico border, the city of Anson finds itself in an interesting geographic position.
Currently Anson is a culturally diverse city, comprising individuals of all walks of life. It is up to them to forge their destiny in a new town.
(The rl Anson, Texas is retconned; we do not recognize it )
1) OP's word is law. You can argue your case in a respectable manner, but in the end the OP's word is final.
2) No real people as characters. This is a character driven RP and while role-playing as a celebrity sounds tempting, it is very highly discouraged for a wide range of reasons. Real life figures which would interact with the town will more than likely be replaced with stand-in characters under the authority of the RP's administration.
3) Keep characters realistic. The nature of the RP allows for a considerable amount of creative liberty, but characters, their wealth, power, influence, behavior etc. should all be kept within reason. Creating an incredibly powerful Mary Sue-esque character, while intriguing, provides for a very poor role-playing experience. Make sure your characters have weaknesses and problems they wish to overcome on their way to a better future. Don't go too crazy with your characters. A kind-hearted elderly lady with a passion for knitting will not suddenly become a serial killer or bank robber.
4) Keep it PG-13. Large cities provide for numerous events. Some of them good and joyful, others... not so much. While some of our characters will undoubtedly end up being involved in less than desirable situations, this doesn't mean that explicit descriptions of more mature situations are needed.
Offensive Material: As mentioned previously, we use the US movie rating "PG-13" standard. Mild swearing may be tolerated, mild sexuality may be hinted,
but explicit or excessive versions of either or both will result in moderation intervention.
5) No cheat-edits, godmodding or metagaming. Characters oftentimes have a far more limited knowledge of the events than the players controlling them, which has a major impact on their actions. Knowledge acquired through means other than character action based in their knowledge will not be allowed to be put to use. Controlling the actions of characters other than your own is strictly forbidden. Your characters have to conform to the reality of their situation - for example, a character with injured legs will not be able to run a marathon.
6) OOC and IC posts should be kept seperate. Please, refrain from making OOC comments in the IC thread and vice-versa. All OOC issues, discussions and questions should be posted/brought up in the appropriate thread.
7) Feel free to ask questions. If you are not sure if you're actions are in accordance with the rules, feel free to contact the admin either via the OOC thread or TGs.
8) Contact the admin before engaging in action affecting other people's characters. Action affecting other players characters without explicit consent from the admin and the other player in question is strictly prohibited.
9) Put effort into your posts. Not everyone is a Pulitzer Prize winner in the making, but your posts should exhibit a degree of effort. No one sentence posts, unless justified by the setting (eg. a conversation). Make sure your posts are at least a paragraph long (5-8 sentences minimum).

Tips for applying:
When writing your character's bio a couple of things can be added to give them more flavor:
1) Childhood - where they born rich or poor? In the US or are they migrants? How did this impact them in the future?
2) Education - Did they stop at high school or are they college educated? Or maybe they dropped out of school to do something else? Did they get to choose what they studied or were they forced into a major by their family?
3) Employment - How did they get their job? Was it planned or just a coincidence? Maybe they're unemployed and looking for a job opportunity in Anson?
4) Family relations - Your character has a family, great! Did they get along well?
