Rome

King Alfonso paced around his room. They were starting to anger Turin for their expansion into Sardenia. General Monteculli and 15,000 men were currently marching through. There was little defense, sure, but Turin had had a lucrative dealing there. War was imminent and Alfonso knew it. He had sent General Pazzini with 30,000 men to guard the Turin Border. The small roman Navy would get beaten against the Turin Navy. There was a new corvette coming, but that would take time.

Sardenia
General Monteculli was fighting for Oristano. The 3,000 troops there were putting up a valiant fight. The right wing though had flanked them and the end was near. In the midst of the fighting, Monteculli's keen eyes saw a white flag. Ordering the trumpeters to order a ceasefire, he went on his horse with his bodyguard and went. The leader kneeled and gave his sword. He also accepted the offer to join the army that was going towards the capitol.

Elena thought to herself. The Italians started to venture North, but there was only Austria to Liechtenstein's east.

To secure the Alps, she had to start invading into Switzerland, and even take some borderlands of South Germany, to Austria and their king's dismay.

She'd order the invasion of the Swiss, and also the Liechtensteiner Army to go into Southern Germany.

Eastern Marches of the Rha Governate

The bridge rumbled under the tramp of marching feet, and the growl of gun-carriages. Here, on the furthest reaches of the Khan-Emperor's mighty domain, armies were in motion. For long years had the Toungoo barbaric peoples resisted the civilizing light of the west, content to squat in their hovel-cities amidst the rain soaked plains of rich rice, but now the son of Zahur had exhausted his last stores of patience with their intransigence. His emissaries had been refused, his overtures of vassalage rejected outright, and his demands for signs of fealty and tribute disdained.

And so the White Armies marched.

It was but a tithe of the strength of the Timurids, a few dozen mighty war elephants, a hundred heavy guns, and two Rohs of the Ivory Throne - but it was enough to swept the border garrisons of the decrepit Toungoo state aside as if they were smoke before a strong wind, and soon the spear-heads of the first assault had penetrated far beyond the riparian border.

Zahar bin-Kassar watched it all unfold via the reports of his scouts, directing reserves where they were needed, the armored columns of his war-elephants smashing holes in enemy defenses and cutting off those who resisted in strength to wither on the vine. The heirs of Kublai would not be denied.

Drydocks, Tana-Maimba

The swift clipper ship that set off from the docks of the Emerald Fleet ran before the east monsoon winds with a speed only experienced sailors could manage, her cargo diplomats and gifts suitable for princes. In her hold the mustachioed chief vizier of the Khan-Emperor bore a missive, penned to the lords of the Kingdom of Prussia. It proposes an exchange of skillfully crafted bronze cannonade from the cities of the Khan, perfect for naval warfare and more powerful than many European guns, for military advisors from the drill-academies of the Teutonic peoples. In this manner all should prosper and grow in strength.

Neu-Hamburg City, Prussian North America

The invasions of Rome and other countries into other parts of Italy is taking heavy toll to the Italian population. Three ships bringing refugees from Italy docked in the port of Neu-Hamburg, its passengers immediately transferred into a public administration office to be granted citizenship. A party of 500 men, from the Neu-Hamburg State militia, is dispatched into the Prussian-claimed territory known to Europeans as "Ohio Country" to open diplomatic relations with the remnants of the Iroquis, now settling further west.

Sultanate of Malacca

Image

January 1st, 1700 A.D | Rajab 10th, 1111 Hijri

Malacca City
It was an uneventful new year celebration with not much flair to it. Since the majority of the Malay people are Muslims and the Sultanate had enacted the Hijri Calendar as the official civil calendar, they already had a modest Hijri New Year celebration on the 1st of Muharram, 1111 Hijri (June 29th, 1699). Malacca's Prime Minister, Bendahara Abdul Ghani presented a report on international affairs with information gathered from trusted traders taking their rest in ports governed by the Sultanate as well as informants all across the world.

Reviewing the report, Sultan Muzhaffar Shah II noted that rumors of territorial expansion by kingdoms and nations all across the world are expected to happen, especially those in Europe. There were also rumors that the Europeans are planning to explore the globe and gain more colonies on new lands far to the west of Europe, and possibly colonies in the Malay Archipelago. After discussions with his right-most ministers, he ordered Malaccan settlers escorted by groups of Malaccan army to be sent to the lands west of of their protectorate, the Palembang Sultanate. They are to explore the lands there and make settlements on viable agriculture lands; or nearby them and settlements to be developed into future city-ports on the coasts of southwestern Sumatra. (OOC: Basically Malacca is colonizing settling in Bengkulu)

The fighting had diminished. The 200 knights had no chance. General Lenosio had gone with 10,000 troops to colonize Libya/Tripoli. He had requested to make a stop, but the knights said no. In response, Lenosio ordered 1,000 men to attack, gaining Italy their first colony. The conquerors set up the government. They then left 200 men behind to guard and left for Libya.

Location: Donbass, Hour: 11h45

The encampment was engulfed in the excitement that characterizes the antecipation of battle. Attaman M akovsky's horde of Cossacks was near, their vanguard of was already visible on the horizon. General Izajasz Lachut was being pressioned to end the pacification of Ukraine quickly, as the army was needed to secure the western frontier against previsible Prussian attacks.
"Position our troops in the end of this valley, and order the cavalry and artillery to take positions in the mountains, concealing themselves with the vegetation. We are going to deprive the Cossacks of the possibility of retreating" The General was notoriously nervous "Now move!"

Hour: 21h52

The battle had ended in a massacre. Nearly all Cossacks had fought to the death, taking half of the Intermarium's soldiers with them to the grave. The King wouldn't be pleased to hear that half of the Eastern army had been killed and another third rendered temporarily unavailable because of their wounds.
At least, the threat of the Cossacks was over and, thus, more resources could be allocated to the western and northern regions, leaving only a token force in Ukraine.

Sardinia
General Monteculli was close to getting Cagliari. There were 6,000 men there, but he had 15,500 men. The cannons roared and the infantry charged. Many fell and many slew. It would take a siege to take this land.

Libya
General Lenosio had approached the rebellious city of Tripoli. The pirates there had caused many shipping lanes to perish. There were hundreds of pirates, and the ships showed it. Few warships had been spared but the ones that were, were modern, state of the line ships. There would be a large naval confrontation.

Sultanate of Malacca

Since the dawn of the creation of Malacca, numbers of pirates both of local and foreign origins in the Straits of Malacca has been increasing and decreasing over time. Nowadays pirate activity is on the rise despite the loyal 'Orang Laut' (Seamen) of Malacca best efforts at containing them. With this current trend, Sultan Muzhaffar decides to act.

With the advice and discretion of his ministers, his majesty decreed that more lighthouses shall be built at strategic locations on the coasts as well as hills near them to detect incoming pirate ships. Among the territories involved are Selangor, Johor, Temasik, Riau Islands, Siak, Inderagiri and Jambi where pirate activities are more rampant and the monitoring of them would be easier due to the narrower seas compared to northern Malacca Straits. Frequency and numbers of Malaccan fleet patrols are also increased to deter pirates.

On another note, the Sultan also decreed for increased army readiness and increased army numbers in the northern states of Malacca, specifically the territories of Kedah and Pattani which borders the Ayyuthaya Kingdom. This is to prepare for the case that the Ayyuthayans decides to strike again.

- Selim IV, Sultan of the Seljuk Empire

Selim IV was sitting on his throne. He was lording over a vast, ancient Islamic empire stretching from Nubia to Pontus and from Ionia to Iran. This vast empire was maintained through a complex system of bureaucracy and decentralization. Iraq itself, with the Seljuk capital of Baghdad, was administered by the central government directly and its resources maintained a numerically moderate but well-trained and organized military force. The Seljuks also maintained an 'army' of Islamic-educated scholars to act as judges and bureaucrats in the region and to ensure the maximum level of centralization.

The other regions of the empire were ruled by Pashas. The Pashas were chosen among the local elite for a term ranging from a few years to decades. The local bureaucracies were staffed by local potentates; Egyptians in Egypt, Iranians in Iran, etch. The provinces (Eyalets) enjoyed broad autonomy from the central government as long as they paid a fixed annual monetary tribute and provided a levy of troops. This decentralization suited the Seljuks as it made the administration of the vast regime far more affordable. The downsize was that at occasions the Pashas could prove disloyal, but such revolts were usually put down by the army of the central government.

A black eunuch with a high pitched voice announced the entry of Minister Ahmed. "His Excellency the Minister Ahmed has arrived!"

Ahmed, a middle-aged bearded man wearing a long blue gown and a red turban, bowed before the Sultan. With a movement of his hand, the Sultan signaled that the minister could get up and so he did. "Your Majesty," he said, "I am here as you requested." Ahmed was the minister responsible for the foreign affairs of the Seljuk Empire. In ideology, the Seljuks recognized only two realms in the entire world; the House of Islam under the rule of Sultan Selim IV and the House of Infidels, which they had a sacred duty to conquer. In practice, the Seljuks had abandoned any attempt to expand their realm, since the empire was already far too large.

"I am concerned about the intrusion of the Latins in Libya," Selim said, referring to the Italians. "A Christian invasion in a land so close to our borders cannot be taken lightly."

"I agree," Ahmed replied, "but I do not think we should make any rush moves, your Majesty. Open war would not be in our best interests."

Selim nodded in agreement. "Indeed. I have no wish to go to war over Libya, but I also have no wish to show weakness before the infidels. I will be sending orders to the Pasha of Egypt to raise the number of men at arms in his Eyalet and to begin construction of wooden fortifications along the Egyptian-Libyan border. We need to ensure that Egypt is adequately defended. This show of strength should also make the Latins think twice about any plans they may have to expand in our lands."

Port of Neu-Hamburg, Manhattan Island

With the Governor-General of Nordamerika's leave, Captain Klaus Derfflinger, commander of the colonies' 2nd Fleet based on Neu-Hamburg, Connecticut, and Rhodes-Insel carried 2,000 troops in 24 ships towards Wilmington, Delaware and continue to Savannah, Georgia. The city would be their last port of call before reaching Nassau in the Bahamas, which the Colonial Navy would strike with several 1st rates and 2nd rates as the main ships, and storm the fort with mortar. Once the Bahamas are fully under their control, the fleet would proceed to land in Jamaica, negotiating a treaty with the Taino to form a Prussian protectorate over the island and constructing several forts.

The Governor of Neu-Hamburg ordered the clearance of all remaining forests in Manhattan and west Long Island, as the trees would provide building material for new 3rd rate and 4th rate ships constructed in the Port of Neu-Hamburg. The Colonial Congress has ratified the order of 36 new ships - 24 3rd rate and 12 4th rate, respectively. The new ships are designed to be more agile, similar to the privateer ships often found complicit in piracy. Featuring the brand new grapeshot cannons, the ships would provide the backbone for the new Colonial possessions in Caribbean islands. Meanwhile, another fleet of 12 ships are being readied to relieve and supply Captain Derfflinger's fleet.

Plans for the Ohio Campaign are shelved for now, as Congress decided to allocate more than 30 kilograms of gold towards the Caribbean expansion. With new plantations of sugar in Georgia and wheat in Neu-Hamburg producing a substantial amounts of crops, exports to Europe are expected to be increased.

Liechtensteiner soldiers continued to march in the South German borderlands, making advances and also taking alot of new soldiers (as they mutinied and started to join Liechtenstein's Army)

and then, in Switzerland, soldiers with Liechtensteiner-styled swords and staffs charged and took the ground, placing a flag there and waiting for reinforcements for the rest of the Swiss counties to be taken.

Queen Elena sat, boredly, remembering her advances and attacks as a warrior-princess, and now wishing for the best for Liechtensteinia and her future. The country was small, and doubly-landlocked, but now Liechtensteiner soldiers marched, advanced and fought in a South German duchy, most-likely Bavaria, and also the Swiss Confederation.

Jesters and other courtsmen came and approached the Throne, dancing and displaying their talents, but she continued to yawn.

She made a hand gesture, not wanting them to be killed-off.

One of them was a twirler/majorette, spinning her quarterstaffs and her batons. Elena smiled and let the girl sit beside the throne, on the three golden pillars separating the Royal Floor from the main floor and its rugs.

The Kaiser was looking at his options
“The colonists are going to the Caribbean and Jamaica” he saw “this will profit is hugely for sugar”
“Your majesty” said one of his generals
“Go on” Said the Kaiser
“Maybe we should advance south” The general continued “so we can strike east from more areas”
“Send a Army from Wroclaw” the Kaiser said
“Tell them to march south” he continued” fair enough south that we are contesting with the lichtenstinians”

The Wroclaw Army marched south (into modern day czechia).
They suddenly saw a settlement.
They didn’t know what to do with it, to capture it or not. The decided to march into the city and ask the locals the name of it
They marched in, and a Prussian soldier walked over to one of the civilians
“P-p-please don’t kill me” the civilian said
“What is the name of this settlement?” The Prussian growled
“P-Prague” said the civilian
The Prussians walked to the centre of the settlement
“We have captured your settlement!” They shouted
“It is under control of the kingdom of Prussia!” They continued
The crowd gasped
“It will now be known as Neu Warsaw!”

The Prussians decided to stay in Neu Warsaw for the time.

Budapest

Minister Kocsis laid in a wooden chair, staring at the busy and chaotic city. His face was expressionless, his hands resting in the secretary where the carefully written report about the state of the army laid. Kocsis took a moment to appreciate his consolidation of power before reading it.

The feudal lords and nobles had either been assassinated or deprived of their goods, the Catholic church had been stripped of any political power and the Inquisition outlawed. Even the Emperor was now a mere puppet, occupied by a lavish lifestyle. Aided by foreigners, he had modernised the Hungarian bureaucracy and military. His iron fisted rule had made Hungary a power to be reckoned with.

As he read the report, a servant bursted inside his office. "Pardon me the intrusion, Minister, but I bring news from the Bosnian campaign."
The Minister made a hand gesture allowing him to continue.

"Our forces hold the main settlements, but the Serbian and Bosnian clans still resist in the mountains, from where they launch hit and run attacks that have depleted our forces."- the Minister frowned upon hearing this- "General Szőke Domonkos requests reinforcements."

The Minister wasn't pleased with these news. He had hoped to end the campaign by then, but the local resistance had proven to be hard to break. "Well, since the East seems to be quiet, we can allocate one or two of the border garrisons to the Bosnian front."- He made a short pause to assess the situation-"And tell general Szőke to pursue a tactic of scorched earth and zero tolerance. If they have chosen to resist us, then we must wipe them out. Burn the farms, ransack the villages, search every square centimetre of their land and vanquish any trace of resistance."

The servant bowed before exiting. The room was once again silent as Minister Kocsis meditated in this unpleasant situation. He knew that Europe was in the verge of a major change in status quo. Multiple nations had launched their armies in great wars of conquest, and the Hungarian Empire would not be left behind.
Long live to science! Long live reason!

Off the Coast of Zanzibar

The high sails of the clipper were trimmed temporarily, the emissary of the Khan of Khans slowing on his journey to take on additional supplies in the long trip to Europe and Prussia. The streets of the beautiful city, the jewel of the Indian Ocean, thronged with vendors and street-merchants looking to profit off of the custom of the sailors who were given shore leave. Relations between the Timurids and the various Islamic city-states along the eastern coast of Africa were good, and the ties of trade bound them tightly. Anon, after re-provisioning and a polite visit with the local Sultan, the clipper sailed on southward.

Pagan, Toungoo Empire

It was near the major town of Pagan that the forces of the Khan-Emperor found their first major opposition - a host of Toungoo swordsmen and archers encamped near the city in the flat land of the farms there. Warned by scouts of the approach of the White Armies, they were in full battle array when the marching columns of Gurkani emerged from the western jungle roads.

War-cries greeted the dawn, and with unhurried haste the legions of Zahar began to deploy in their formations, heavy guns checkerboarded across the field between spearmen and heavy musketry. The Toungoo warriors, however, did not deign to give Zahar the luxury of battle which he would have wished for. As it began clear that he was deploying for a bombardment, their chiefs urged them forward in a great rush, and uulating screams filled the air as the soldiers charged in rippling waves.

Then came the flat barks of the cannonade. Not the deep rumble of guns bearing shell or heavy shot, but the hollow retort of the canister which erupted with lethal intent from Zahar's prepared weapons. Great swathes of the onrushing soldiers disappeared as if swept away with a broom where the light bronze cannons spoke, and cracks of rippling muskets were added to the chorus as the enemy closed. With immense bloody gashes cut in their formations, the Toungoo warriors gamely pressed on into the hail of gunfire, but broke less than a hundred yards from the gleaming Mughal spears.

A butcher's bill paid by those who had not invested in their military. Only in a few places, on the flanks, had the enemy managed to come to grips - and Zahar's casualties were light. Onward the host pressed, past Pagan, stopping only briefly to garrison the strategic settlement. The road to Toungoo herself was open, and the decapitation strike long-planned moved forward.

Jothpur, Mughal Empire

Down the hills from the high copper mines the line of carts rumbled, their overseer carefully watching their speed on the dial that spun at his side. Through careful application of the brakes he maintained a consistent speed, and at the bottom of the hill allowed a slight acceleration, whistling past cheering crowds of workers and nobles out for the festivities alike. After a few minutes he drew the conveyance to a complete halt, before emerging to shouts of acclaim and having wreaths of flowers pressed into his hands alongside the rest of his engineering team. The face of the Crown-Prince briefly filled his vision as the lord of Jothpur said some words of congratulations.

Sultanate of Malacca

Historically, Pattani is its own Kingdom. They are friendly to the Sultanate of Malacca and enemies of Ayyuthaya as the majority of them are Muslims. In the year 1575, Pattani became a vassal of Malacca and willingly became a part of Malacca in the year 1650 after a short war with Ayyuthaya in which the Ayyuthayans retreated after a fierce opposition was fought against them by the Malaccan-backed Pattanian army.

Pattani City

"Sir Che Danang, we have a royal aide here wanting to relay the Sultan's orders personally to you." Che Danang's personal aide notifies the General in charge of the defense of Pattani.

"Alright, let him in." Che Danang replies as he signals his aide to allow the royal aide to come into the small mansion's office fashioned to become the headquarters for the army administration of the fort of Pattani.

"Sir Che Danang, I come here with news of your requested reinforcements. Four cannon teams from Pahang will be sent to Pattani to bolster defenses while the requests for skilled stone masonry specialists to build forts will arrive in a few weeks. Materials for the stone and wooden fort shall be used from resources in Pattani and northern Kelantan."

"That is great news royal aide. Thank you. Please sit down and enjoy this drink with us." Che Danang offered the royal aide. He however rejects politely as he needs to be somewhere else to relay news.

Meanwhile, an additional cannon team are sent from Perak to Kedah to increase defenses in the settlements of Kaki Bukit, Padang Besar and Bukit Kayu Hitam each respectively while a mix of wooden and stone forts are in the process of being erected to supplement existing forts in the area. Malacca does not want to risk losing an inch of territory to the Ayyuthayans, and may even strike back to gain even more territories.

Malacca Royal City

Anually, the Malaccan Army receives around 300-400 men all over Malacca who had completed their military training of mastering martial arts using hand to hand combat as well as the standard melee weapon of Keris and the long spear called 'Tombak'. However the main weapon they are taught to use are matchlock muskets which the Malaccans call Senapang Lantak. In smaller numbers, the Malaccan Army also utilizes the new flintlock muskets which can be reloaded faster and were less prone to misfires. All these advances are funded by Malacca's seemingly never ending rich source of income; trade.
