Mission Briefing

OP: Socialist Macronesia

Operation Code Name: Operation Quick Draw

Type of Mission: Hostage Rescue

Location: Socialist Macronesian City, SMDA Aerospace Division Headquarters

Environment: Urban, Night, 10 story building

Outline: On Friday, July 11, at 9:45 AM, A group of 21 religious extremists (who happen to be classified as a terrorist organization according to the Ministry of Internal Security) drove up to the HQ of the Socialist Macronesian Defensive Arms in white, unmarked vans. They proceeded to take out weapons and capture the first floor. The entire building was cleared, but due to several security system connections being cut, we were not informed of the takeover until 10:56 AM. The facility was barricaded with machine guns, MANPADS, and mortars. Along with these the crew brought 8 FAB-500 1100 pound bombs, which were modified for either a timed fuse or a detonator. The local police set up a perimeter, and have surrounded the building. The group made 4 demands:

1: The release of 5 terrorists, who had been imprisoned
2: A fully fueled aircraft
3: $20 million in cash
4: The legalization of the Cult of Melism

They have stated that if the demands are not met within 5 days, the bombs will be detonated. The estimate is that the explosion will level buildings, but due to an evacuation the surrounding area is unoccupied.

16 hostages are on the roof, where 6 terrorists with 6 81mm mortars are. They are being used as human shields for the mortars. On the 3rd floor, there are 6 terrorists with 4 SA-7 SAMs, along with 4 hostages. The basement contains 9 terrorists with 3 PK machine guns and 4 hostages. All of the security guards were killed. The terrorists have grenades and RPGs, AK pattern rifles, pistols, and explosives.

The facility was containing several top-secret aerospace project files on a server bank on the 6th floor, which also need to be secured.

Primary Objectives:
1. Send in sniper teams to help eliminate the SAM and mortar sites.
2. Send men up a primary maintenance ladder to the 4th floor, from which they take over the 3rd floor SAMs.
3. Eliminate all roof targets and rescue the hostages via VALV transport.
4. Find a way into and clear the basement.
5. Disarm explosives OR safely remove all hostages before detonation.

We also need the teams to locate the main server bank on the 6th floor and determine if a data breach has occurred, and if so, to report it immediately.

Secondary Objectives: There are a number of important documents that we would rather not be seen, on the 4th floor. Though it is not necessary, finding the location of these documents would be greatly appreciated. The documents are composed of new UAV designs and stealth technology.

Parameters: PLEASE try to keep it quiet. Sniper teams should be using suppressors, entry teams should be picking locks; that being said, if it goes loud, we can call in a drone strike or a VALV-A strafe, which will probably destroy the whole building, but it will keep the data out of the enemy hands.

OpFor: 21 terrorists with AK style rifles, grenades, RPGs, and light body armor. 6 81mm mortars, 4 SA-7 launchers, and 3 PK machine guns

Number of Teams: Looking for around 64-32 people total, so about 3-6 teams

Notes: This wouldn't normally warrant the use of TFA, or SIERRA at all, but the files stored are Level 4 cleared, meaning that SIERRA was activated.

"Sierra 8's being acting odd ever since Sierra 7, the old commander, died in a training accident. He's been much more emotional, something 8's not prone to showing. He also has started sneaking off to the training center in the middle of the night; probably has PTSD from watching 7 die, that or he's suddenly realized his mortality. Also, I think he knows something the rest of us don't. As a medic you can tell when a patient is hiding something, and he is. I plan to do a psych eval on him when he returns. Until then, I can't stress this enough, WATCH HIM.

Clarification:

1. I'd say no Spartan shit. There's been exceptions in the past for when things get wild, but as an OP, I generally only pass out the "rule of cool batshit insane" cards to certain people for certain reasons and situations. So as far as prosthesis goes, I'd go with a general rule that it should be a flavor more than anything, as in the prosthetic should only be as good as a flesh-and-blood arm. I'd say that would be about my line for someone whom I don't know and can't trust.

2. Nothing close to space marine armor. We've had in TFA in the past some situations where there was stuff approaching the kind of powered armor that you'd see in Call of Duty, but again, those are far and few in between and generally reserved for the over-the-top situations, and definitely not a standard. As a general rule of thumb, I'd go with the kind of powered armor available in real life; which is, not really much of anything. I'm sure there's people in TFA that have slipped powered armor as a standard piece of equipment by me, but I'd frown upon its use, especially if it's someone I'm not familiar with.

It involved a zeplin, a backpack-nuke, a nuclear submarine, and skynet being held hostage by a weaponized adorable little girl (and her friends; because the power of friendship compells you!).

OTOH, in a similar RP, we're comparing Froxian and Hurti landing strategies.

Luckily enough, the story on my screen appears to be about the length of an average line of paper. I counted 20 immediate lines, and estimated around 60 in total before she hits the soldier, so around 60 stories.

This occurs within the span of approximately 3.5 seconds, so around 1000 ft falling in 3.5 seconds.

She is travelling at 285 ft/s at the least.

THAT IS 8 GEES OF FORCE AND MACH 0.25.

This isn't counting the sideways acceleration either, but it doesn't matter, because pulling 8 gees WILL render you unconscious. 4-5 gees already will cause loss of consciousness. But assuming our sniper-girl here is also a jet pilot and is trained for high gee loads...

...she still is rendered unconscious. 8 g's is still far too much.

The sideways force is the same, if not more. Notice she doesn't hit the snow, which is soft, she hits a man, who is also carrying ammo, a gun, and so is probably very heavy.

Her impact on the man in the video would not just throw them around, it would be like hitting pavement at half the speed of sound.

But guess what bois, my internet gets cut at midnight today, so I can't hear any comments about me being a killjoy!

Then again, there are some ways to prevent this. One would be to add a large aerodynamic frame to her body, that would provide lift. The other would be to add a REALLY big landing wheel to absorb the impact of hitting the ground.

And then you realize you just made a glider aircraft.

But then, you realize, she needs to go faster. In the event of strong Switzerland winds, she may need some sort of propulsion. You design a concept for a group of blades that spin to produce lift, made by burning fuel in a motor which spins the blades.

You just made a Cessna.

But the blades freeze in the cold and you move too slow. You need something that can provide heat, and be able to also go faster. So you take in the air through an inlet, then feed it through a fan, which you then compress with fuel to make an exhaust that not only moves you much faster, but stays warm in cold temperatures.

You just made a F-16.

Which leads to the next question: the soldiers shown are unable to hit her moving. But now she is gliding through the air, in Frox's case, or jet-flying through the air, in Hurt's case. Both of which lead you vulnerable to the humble MANPADS. Frox cannot move fast enough to evade them, although her lack of a distinguished heat source would pose a problem. Unless they have SPAAGs or machine guns, which they do. Hurties are easier somewhat, due to the rocket belts giving you away to infared. Now you have to evade SAM launchers while not slamming into a mountain and dying. Sure, shock absorber, but you now have to deal with the soldiers, who, seeing you are stunned from hitting a mountain at very fast speeds, shoot you.

But this was not posed to either: it was posed to the girl in the clip, who has neither. Note the other things that are wrong: the window only has select broken parts, but the window itself is not cracked. If you see windows, even bulletproof, get shot, you see the laminate safety film on the glass hold in a lot of tiny pieces of broken glass, but not here. This also means that the glass is not bulletproof, so upon being shot, not only would she not be able to see where she was jumping, she also wouldn't be jumping into anything- everything would be shattered already.

Ignoring everything that occurs on the descent, when she lands we see the two vehicles with some troops in front and some behind.

You are behind an armoured vehicle, probably up to 7.62 resistant. The enemy is in front of you with a rifle probably not capable on petentrating your cover AND concealment.

Do you

A. Blindly step out and lose all of your advantages, causing your whole team to die as a result

Or

B. Use your cover and concealment to launch a surprise attack from both vehicle ends, preventing her from killing more than one man before she dies in a hailstorm of AK rounds?

But these do follow the classic "nameless faceless goon" trope, so of course they have to die. They can't aim, they have no defining differences, no tactics, etc. I overlooked it, thought, as it is seen a lot though in practically all media.

Also what happened to the rest of her team? Were they just not good enough at carrying sniper rifles into a very very obviously CQC area? Even if they are on a mountain which they planned to snipe from, is no one carrying some sort of automatic rifle? And whose C4 was that, and why was it counting down from 0:30 on what appears to be a alarm clock? Why did she defy the orders of her commander-

The place was overrun and she escapes to a safe LZ for an evac? And she didn't just tell him "I'm going to try to find a safe way out, so I'm gonna blow up this location and escape? And what exactly were these goons doing in Switzerland? So many questions. Why did she take her earpiece out?

"SIERRA 7, do you copy? We are reporting an enemy MI-28 Havoc in the air- oh wait he's not listening and just got annilated in a hail of Spiral 2 missiles. Mission is a failure."

Also, yes, the math was slightly wrong, but only because that was not freefall , she is falling much faster. 53 m/s is terminal velocity of a human skydiver, and she is going far faster than that, in both y and x axis. She is going at 86 m/s straight down, that is all I can say for sure. Meaning she reached over terminal velocity in about 1 second. She must be wearing a rocket booster the wrong way around, otherwise she is literally breaking the laws of physics.

I spent way too long on this, and I know for a fact it will get torn apart in two seconds.

We're making a pretty unexpected and dynamic entry as it is. We are a 3rd party faction, and the primary (friendly to us) belligerent is a rather shitty local Special-Forces operative that is already on the ground*.

If the enemy has the eye of the hurricane super-defended, then he is being beyond paranoid to the point of being borderline clairvoyant like someone who played the same map of counterstrike against the same people a few hundred too many times.

Right now, we are counting the many ways we can all horrifically die and fail the mission before even making contact with the enemy.

It was released on Flash, but a mobile version has just come out, and from what I can tell it has a lot more stuff.

The OG is still better though.
