We condemn all of his actions, and say that they were the results of old age, extreme substance abuse, dementia and mental illness (namely, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder). The new Head of State no longer finds itself at war with any countries.

Hammond Arcology Park, one day later

Every culture has its own way to distinguish the rich from the poor. In some countries, a rich man must wear an expensive top hat. Some countries demand that the poor be barred from wearing certain clothing even if they could afford it – to keep them from reaching beyond their stature. In some countries the mark of wealth is to own a horse, or an automobile, or perhaps a large dog. In Allanea, by tradition, the line between a poor and a middle class person often passes on the edge of the arcology neighborhoods. True, some expensive and fancy apartments exist, but in a general way, in Allanea, a truly wealthy man lives in a palace, a rich man in a mansion, and a middle-class man in a home on a small lot of land. The urban poor live in vast apartment blocks called 'arcologies', towering dozens and dozens of floors above the ground, thousands or more in each of the vast blocks, almost entire towns packed together.

To provide those who live there with some access to green grass and sunlight, the city fathers often build parks between the arcologies – but many of those parks, like Hammond Arcology Park, are badly maintained. The grass is stamped out completely, or dried and dead. Broken bottles, syringes, and worse lie in the half-dry bushes. The residents speed up when walking through the Park at night, keeping a hand on their weapon when they pass through. (And of course, this is Allanea – everyone has a weapon).

In the day, however, the charitable and civically minded attempt to breathe life into the Park. Events are held – musical appearances, competitions, and suchlike. And today – an appearance by a poet and writer, Oren Ilyinsky.

He is not very famous yet – but he has been published in the local paper several times, and has published a novel and a short book of poetry. A young man in spectacles, he recites some of his poems, talks about his technique and writing. Those are not what will be remembered from that day.

At the end, the crowd asks questions. About his life, about his books. Someone asks if he has a girlfriend. He blushes. And of course someone asks about politics.

"What can you tell us about the new war the Communists had declared? The global war against all capitalist countries?"

"What?" – he asks confusedly.

"There's… a Premier Kailash Kumar Singh, of a country called ArmedKing. He wants to lead the socialist world to war against all capitalists."

Ilyinsky sighs. He looks at the woman asking this. She looks about thrice his age. He could explain the differences between socialists and communists, and perhaps argue about social democracy versus socialism. But then he realizes that he does not care. The woman perhaps does not know the differences – but he, he knows and does not care. He speaks.

"What is your name, madam?"

"Karen. Karen Slansky."

"Right then. Madam Slansky, they declare these wars every Tuesday and Wednesday. Probably nothing will happen. Maybe there will be a war. There was one once, you know, the May Day War?"

"I seem to remember something about it from school. That's the one with the Battle at New Ascalon, right?"

"That's the one." – Ilyinsky nodded. "Twenty-five million dead for the Red Coalition, several dozen thousand of ours, I remember. It didn't work then, it won't work this time either. But I'd like to talk about why this won't work. It's not even because they have this and that many tanks, and we have such and such missiles. No that's not why. Let me tell you the real reason. " – he paced the small area that was set aside for him as a stage. He breathed in the air, dry and smelling of gasoline and waste – "They have a simple idea. They think that the way a man can be brother to another man, is only through either suffering together, or through being wealthy and powerful together. Then because they believe themselves to be on the side of the poor and laboring, the poor and laboring owe them their loyalty, and will not fight and defend the rights of those who are wealthy. That because I have made less money than, say, a professor or a dentist does, and I need to look in my pockets to see if I can afford to ride the bus today, and the bus company owner makes millions, then I am his enemy, and moreover that the guys in 'ArmedKing' are my friends."

He paused. "This is twice bullshit. First, I have never agreed that the rich man is my enemy. I am not poor because the man who owns the bus," – he waved towards a passing electric bus as it glided through the street with a hiss – "is rich. I am richer and better off, if only by a tiny margin, because buses exist for me to go on. And moreover, two, even if I agreed the guy who owns the bus is my enemy – I have not yet seen that the guy in ArmedKing – which is by the way a silly name for a socialist country – to be my friend. Will I be made better off if he comes here and kills the rich? No, let me tell you this, I will be made worse off – and I will be complicit in their murder."

"The foreigners mock us for the fact we do not hate each other. They say 'In Allanea there are no proletarians, only bourgeois who have not become rich yet'. In their mind, because even the poorest of us still uses the title 'Freeman' – we are for this seen as naïve, for not having yet become part of their class war. That we believe that a man can improve his lot – that some of you own your apartments, and hope to one day own a house – we are mocked as "future bourgeois". Well, they may mock us, but they will never defeat us."

"Men and women of the Hammond Arcology! " – Ilyinsky drew his pistol. What he was about to do was unsafe, irresponsible, and somewhat illegal. In that moment, swept up by his own speech, he did not care. He raised it skywards. "We do not need the Premier of ArmedKing, or his help, or his class war! We have a real Armed King!" - he fired the pistol skywards.

The crowd erupted in exclamations of anger, some unsheathing their own weapons – some pistols, some rifles, raising them and firing them to the skies. For a moment, Ilyinsky winced, thinking of where those bullets would come down.

"We have our own Armed King!" – he shouted – "We have our own Kingdom! A Free Kingdom! And if they will argue that we are bourgeois sympathizers and class traitors, then this is what we will be! I have not sworn loyalty to a class! I am loyal, to this country, its banner, its liberties – and if our King and Queen preserve those, then to the Crown! But if those fools abroad think we owe them anything, then let me tell you this – we owe them nothing! Ladies and gentlemen of the Arcologies! I do not know if they will attack. Probably they will not, and if they do, they will never arrive to fight here. But let us all re-check our weapons. Let the Arcology Militias muster. Let the arrogant foe know – this is the Free Kingdom! We have our own Armed King, for Armed Men, and we have not invited them here!"

He had never, in any appearance, before any crowd, gathered such applause.

The men and women that assembled that day at Hammond Arcology Park had come to listen to an obscure writer talk about poetry and short stories. They went home full of anger and determination – and with the words of Ilyinsky's poem, which was not quite about them, but which they felt applied to them as well.

That evening, the Hammond Arcology Militia paraded through the streets in an improvised formation, wearing leather jackets, their mohawked hair sticking out in bright colors, banners flying. Videos were shred on the social networks. A new tag - #thebourgeoisweapon – accompanied the videos and photos.

Two or three days later, other militias began to wake up – and these now were in richer neighborhoods, where people lived in red-roofed homes and had lawns and cars. Those militias had better guns, and green uniforms, and technicals. So far they did not genuinely believe war would come to their country – it rarely did these days, and most of Allanea's wars were waged far oversees. But the parades that had started in the arcology neighborhood looked like they were a fun and simple way to show they loved their country, and despised those strange foreigners who would tell Allaneans how to live their lives. So more videos appeared, and the tag - #thebourgeoisweapon – appeared again.

By the end of the week, someone put Ilyinsky's poem to music. Harsh acoustic metal riffs, a deliberately-hoarse voice – this was how his words became famous through Allanea.

On July 8th, 1947, at exactly 7.39 a.m. Standard Italian Time, a fleet of missiles numbering in the hundreds were seen launching from concealed military bases all throughout the country. Farmers working in their rural farms or those part of the Italian Rebuilding Initiative reported seeing several flying objects appear from what seemed to be an opening the ground that suddenly came out of nowhere, before disappearing into the skies.

At 7.40 a.m. Standard Italian Time, the Military High Command lost all sight and signals from the missiles, in accordance with predictions made by researchers and engineers in the Italian “G.O.D.S H.A.N.D.” Programme.

On July 8th, 2047, at exactly 7.40 a.m., several missile warning systems and radar tracking networks in the Socialist Union of ArmedKing detected the sudden appearance of over 120 unidentified flying objects, appearing over the skies of Los Socialis as well as many other major cities and population centres. The military command became paralysed by the sudden discovery, and within almost no time to spare, ordered the playing of the air raid sirens.

At exactly 7.41 a.m., Standard Italian Time, the Socialist Union of ArmedKing confirmed several nuclear detonations in major population centres all around the country. Local media and news sites later confirmed that the country’s leadership still remained in tact, and that although casualties were expected to be in the hundreds of millions, many other cities and towns remained untouched and unharmed.

At 7.42 a.m. Standard Italian Time, several Italian agents embedded within the Union managed to send back reports confirming that indeed, the capital city Los Socialis, as well as all other major population and economic centres, had been completely and utterly obliterated during the first Attack.

At 7.43 a.m. Standard Italian Time, in the year 1947, the Generals and High Command of the United Italian Catholic States received message from sleeper agents confirming initial predictions of a few hundred million dead.

In the meanwhile, the UICS government of 1947 continues making preparations for a second all out Attack.

Cold lemonade is served to the men of the navy before they sail to waters near Populistan. The air force flies and lands on their locations, the coast guard is on full alert. The marines will be coming in later.

Chairman Sung: Tell La Xinga I congratulate them on the successful first strike. After that, round up as many anti-capitalists as humanly possible for use as meat shields in combat.

A few of the anti-capitalists were as young as 11 years old. In the re-education camps, anti-capitalists who still refused to renounce their anti-capitalist ideologies were beaten to a pulp by the Army and dragged outside. As soon as they were brought to the country's military installations, all were marked for death as the ground troops' meat shields in open warfare.

The G.O.D.S H.A.N.D. Proposal

Objective:
To ensure that the United Italian Catholic States can combat threats, both in the present, as well as of the past and the future. This would be achieved through combined use of newly developed anomalous weaponry, as well as a temporal anomaly scientists in the Project have managed to stabilise for potential use.

Details:
Project G.O.D.S H.A.N.D. plans to utilise several pieces of anomalous weaponry sent to our Scientists from the future; namely, from Italian engineers and Scientists in the year 2047. These anomalous pieces of weaponry include:

1. 15 live "thermonuclear" bombs, with detailed blueprints for the construction of more of such bombs

2. "Missile" technology, including one tear-shaped object capable of launching into the sky at tremendous speeds. According to given blueprints, this object could potentially reach outer space.

3. "Battlesuits", several anomalous sets of metallic armour, outfitted with pre-installed guns, cooling systems, and localised [REDACTED]. Investigation into how such [REDACTED] works is ongoing.

4. A set of papers, blueprints and mathematical calculations, along with a map, detailing the location, nature, and method for stabilisation of a temporal anomaly found only in [REDACTED], Italy.

For now, due to a lack of understanding of such technology, Scientists of the UICS have deemed them as anomalous in nature. Further experimentation and research is ongoing.

Addendum
On 8th July, 1947, the UICS Provisional Prime Minister officially gave his approval for the use of Project G.O.D.S H.A.N.D. against an enemy nation which would exist some [REDACTED] years into the future. It is theorised that this nation would encompass all of the current nation of [REDACTED]. A plan detailing 3 stages of attack has been made.

1. First Stage: The use of 124 of these "thermonuclear" bombs against the enemy; locations to transport these devices to include major population and economic centers. This would be done through the use of the temporal anomaly.


2. Second Stage: The deployment of the 2nd Italian Armoured Regiment into the enemy territory. The 2nd Italian Armoured Regiment is currently composed of several elite units drawn from other parts of the Military, provided with special training for use of the "Battlesuits", in accordance with manuals provided. These soldiers would attack remaining military installations within the enemy nation, as well as ensure Italian dominance in the nation, free from influence from other nations such as [REDACTED]. Soldiers are authorised to shoot any non-Italian combatants on side, even if they are not from the nation of [REDACTED].


3. Third Stage: The destruction of any remaining infrastructure within the enemy nation. Every resource that can be extracted during this time MUST be extracted, and every piece of infrastructure, be they small towns or rural villages, are to be destroyed. A mass killing of [REDACTED]% of the population of this enemy nation must occur as well; remaining survivors are to be handed over for the future UICS.


4. Fourth Stage: A failsafe in case any of the above plans fail. Involves [REDACTED AS PER REQUEST OF THE FUTURE UICS GOVERNMENT].

As of 12th july, 1947, Stage 1 has been completed, and Stage 2 is currently ongoing.

Social Minister Eric Von Gupta has announced that the cowardly Italian nation could no longer withstand the pressure from the overwhelming presence of ArmedKing forces throughout the country. The Italian government chose to flee the country and has gone into exile. Their main forces have capitulated, and ArmedKing is now in control of their home area.

Though the war continues elsewhere, this is a great victory for the Socialist Union of Armed King.

Hearing of ArmedKing's occupation of the Italian States, The Kyundaoan military have begun arming pro-capitalist terrorists and freedom fighters in the occupied territories. Days later, far-right terror attacks are directed against ArmedKing's forces in the cities and in the countryside, killing the occupation forces' top commanders in the process. The terror attacks have since continued on a daily basis.
