'NEOWISE' Comet - The July Event?

So in late March, the NEOWISE space telescope discovered a comet labeled C/2020 F3 (NEOWISE), or simply 'Comet NEOWISE'. On July 3^rd, the comet passed perihelion (closest point in its orbit from the Sun), and is now hurtling back into the chill void of the Outer Solar System. On its way out, it is predicted to pass our blighted planet at a distance of approximately 103 million kilometers, or 0.69 AU on July 23^rd. Since closest approach is coming up in just over two weeks as of this posting, and it now seems to be (somewhat) visible to the naked eye at night, the news have been talking about it.

So NSG, what do you think?

Will this be a spectacular show for us, or just another hyped disappointment?

Personally speaking, I'm going to be taking a look at it whenever possible, and I believe it will be just barely visible at best unless we are lucky.

If something "is sign of misfortune" and it somehow works, it's "real" in some kind of world, then that world isn't rational, isn't real real and "realitiness" can be describe as "the same as "living" in computer simulation/game/program or comics, or manga, or movie, or book etc., where all irrational things can happend and can be "normal to that kind of world".
All of irrationality like, blaming comets, crows, people of other races etc. and treating all of them as symbol of evil is nonsense, and even more - if someone try to make others "believe" that that things are evil per se, leading to mass murders, genocides, crucades, wars etc. - toying with humans, trying to make evil, villainous (eg. manipulating society, that they need make sacrifice of maiden heart or something, to expel "bad omens") things from peoples, that could experience, see things in that prism.

It is the real world of people though. Without competing explanations of "misfortune" like, we saw this bastard coming on radar 4 days ago, or it started in China and they told us but we ignored them, people are very prone to superstition.

It's confirmation bias. We remember better the predictions that came true, than we do the ones that didn't. Over a while, we ascribe to the prophet or scientist authority bias. And that's religion for you. But it's also science.

"Omens" can be good as well as bad. Maybe there's some bias towards listening more to bad forecasts than to good ones, but I personally am not prone to it.

That's the name of a telescope. The comet is (provisionally) named after the telescope that discovered it.

From what I remembered, a few days to a week before the King Kertanegara and the Rajasan royal family was backstabbed and slaughtered by a conspiracy led by a rebelling duke. The government wiped out and regional leaders was free to do what they wish, royal holdings outside of Java splintered. Oh also the Mongol army then invaded Java and killed that rebelling duke, thinking that he's Kertanegara while the real Kertanegara is already dead.

At the moment it’s not a Great Comet, but it’s generally agreed that it’s quite a good one. Unfortunately the weather forecast for my location is not that good at the moment (cloud, cloud and more cloud), but hopefully I’ll get a look at it in the next week or so.

At least this comet has managed to survive perihelion unlike Comets ATLAS and SWAN a month or so ago. Astronomers never hype comets by the way, we know how unpredictable they are.

NEOWISE stands for Near Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer - the NEO bit is a component of the WISE satellite.
