Military Council hands over 13 infected Baggnagian politicians to Pameravan separatist leadership

NORTH-EASTERN DEMARCATION LINE, BAGGNAGIA – In an odd transaction the Military Council of Baggnagia has turned over a number of Baggnagian politicians over to the leadership of the Pameravan separatists. Apparently the separatists have specifically asked for these thirteen politicians that the Military Council is turning over to them. These politicians are ill with either RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20. The Military Council has been criticized by citizens for making such dealings or any dealings with the separatists who took over Baggnagian land by force. But Chairman of the Military Council of Baggnagia Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch has defended this decision. Lt. Colonel described the thirteen politicians being turned as the “fifth column” sympathetic to Pamerava. That’s why the separatists asked for them to be handed over. Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch said that the Military Council believes it will be much better for Baggnagia is to give these people over instead of a having a “fifth column” and agents working for the separatists or any hostile foreign power inside Baggnagia itself. He added that Baggnagia should handle treating these ideologically allied politicians from the virus themselves instead of having the Baggnagian healthcare system do be preoccupied with it.

Senate of sovereign Pamerava passes the Fundamental Laws of the Realm, establishing a Coregency or Co-Principality

NEODVISNI, PAMERAVA – Pamerava continues going down its independent path after declaring itself a sovereign nation separate from Baggnagia. In today’s historical occurrence the Senate of Pamerava passed the Fundamental Laws of the Realm (Temeljni Zakoni Kraljestva, Základní Zákony Říše, Фундаментальныя Законы Царства). This packaged set of laws collectively acts as an equivalent of a constitution for the independent Pameravan state. It establishes independent Pamerava as a monarchy which is more similar to most how most Ventismarian nations are. Specifically the Fundamental Laws of the Realm set up Pamerava as a Coregency or Co-Principality which is a very specific and unique type of monarchy. It’s a system where a monarchical position is held by two or more people than just one like in most monarchies. This system applies to all monarchical positions like king, queen, emperor and empress. Never has such a system existed on the territory of Baggnagia including the nations that preceded it. The system was always a conventional monarchy with a single main monarch. After the Fundamental Laws of the Realm were passed President of the Senate Dobrin Nóvak congratulated the Senate on this historic vote and historic moment.

Pamerava crosses off Nikola Zupánčič from the list of politicians it wants handed over to it and says he will be given back to Baggnagia

PAMERAVA/BAGGNAGIA BORDER – As part of peaceful settlement and ending open fighting the military dictatorship in Jugac has agreed to pass on the list of politicians to Pamerava which the new nation sees as its own political allies and colleagues of the founders of sovereign Pamerava. The Baggnagian military dictatorship presented this as dropping a load of their shoulder in the face of large virus infected numbers. Originally the Senate approved a list of thirteen people it would take from Baggnagia and treat over here in Pamerava. But the list contained a mistake that wasn’t noticed at first. It included Nikola Zupánčič. He was a candidate for President during the days of South Baggnagia. He ran from Nationalist Party of South Baggnagia (NPSB) in that first presidential election. The NPSB party supported the events which led to the ousting of the elected South Baggnagian government where President of the Pameravan Senate Dobrin Nóvak was President of South Baggnagia in that government. Power was taken over by the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia before they would eventually hand over power to the military. President of the Senate Dobrin Nóvak described Nikola Zupánčič as a traitor and said Pamerava doesn’t want him. He ended up on the list by mistake over lack of attentiveness including from himself. Pamerava will be handing Nikola Zupánčič back to Baggnagia. In the end Pamerava is only taking twelve people from Baggnagia.

Baggnagians violate quarantine to protest the Military Council’s surrender of Baggnagian territory to Pameravan separatists

JUGAC, BAGGNAGIA – Baggnagian citizens have exited their homes and violated the required self-isolation in the conditions of the state of quarantine over the Novell Illness. They are massively taking to the streets to protest against the Military Council of Baggnagia and the Pameravan separatists. The reason for the protest against the Military Council is its perceived willing surrender of Baggnagian territory to separatists and abandonment of Baggnagian citizens living in those territories instead of defending their rights. The perceived abandonment was illustrated by the Military Council’s surrender of thirteen (now twelve with the exclusion of Nikola Zupánčič) Baggnagian politicians over to the Pameravan separatists simply because of the separatist request or demand to do so. The citizen protest against the Pameravan separatists is obvious as against traitors, violators of Baggnagian territorial integrity and occupiers of land inhabited by Baggnagian citizens. The protests started out in Jugac and have since been expanding to more Baggnagian cities.

Chairman of the Military Council of Baggnagia Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch defended the citizen right to protest but warned that large public gatherings of people around Baggnagia are deadly dangerous in times of RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20. He asked citizens to think about it and be reasonable. Baggnagia has seen a massive serge in numbers of infected during the turbulent events of the Socialist Coup, the Counter-Coup against the Socialists with Sunrisian help and the most recent Pameravan conflict. The protests could boost the numbers of infected too especially since the demonstrations are taking a national scope. The Military Council has called up a special session to work out an action plan on how to deal with all of this. To calm down the citizens Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch reaffirmed that Baggnagia has only cooperated with Pameravan separatists to stop violence and effectively freeze the conflict. Baggnagia hasn’t legally recognized the independence of Pamerava and still considers those territories part of the Baggnagian state.

Dobrin Nóvak crowned Prince Dobrin Ustanovitelj (The Founder) and Alexander Lončár crowned Prince Alexander Rešitelj (The Savior)

NEODVISNI, PAMERAVA – Independent Pamerava has crowned its two monarchs that will lead this sovereign nation as a Coregency and Co-Principality. A crowning ceremony was held in Neodvisni under sterile conditions because of the virus pandemic and both crowned monarchs being ill with one of the viruses. President of the Pameravan Senate Dobrin Nóvak was crowned Prince Dobrin Ustanovitelj (The Founder). The Prince’s complimenting titles would be Prince Dobrin Zakladatel and Prince Дабрын Заснавальнік. The other crowned monarch was Alexander Lončár who was crowned Prince Alexander Rešitelj (The Savior). Complimenting titles of the Prince would be Prince Alexander Zachránce and Prince Aлександр Збавіцель.

The title of the Founder was given to Prince Dobrin because of him being the leading figure in achieving Pameravan independence. Prince Dobrin is a Founding Father of sovereign Pamerava and was chairperson of its independent government and Senate before being crowned monarch. The title of the Savior was given to Prince Alexander because of his actions during the pre-division era in Baggnagia and his participation in Pameravan independence today. During the pre-division period in Baggnagia Prince Alexander was Prime Minister during the long-time and increasingly autocratic presidency of Fran Hapenic (who would go on to become the first dictator of North Baggnagia as a state that would be a product of Baggnagian division). President Fran Hapenic wanted to overthrow the parliament in a military coup so the parliament ended up moving from Silcenda to Jugac (which would become the capital of South Baggnagia and is the capital of modern reunified Baggnagia). The parliament impeached President Fran Hapenic and voted in Prince Alexander (still Prime Minister Alexander Lončár of Baggnagia back then) as acting president. After the Baggnagian split into North and South Prince Alexander was acting president now only of South Baggnagia before his successor was elected. That successor happened to be Prince Dobrin (who was only President Dobrin Nóvak back then). Now Prince Alexander acted as a mentor to Prince Dobrin in achieving Pameravan independence. Prince Alexander saved a half of Baggnagia from falling under the rule of dictator Fran Hapenic who took control and rule the North with an iron fist. Today Prince Alexander saved Pamerava from the military dictatorship of Baggnagia. That is how the title of the Savior has been justified. Everything has come full circle. Now Prince Dobrin and Prince Alexander will co-lead Pamerava.

It is no secret that both leaders are ill. It was mentioned before. Prince Dobrin has RETRIT-20 and Prince Alexander has PVAX-20. Prince Alexander is older than Prince Dobrin and has the stronger of the two viruses. These factors make his condition worse. But the new monarchs of Pamerava declared that in case they are unable to go on they will select successors before being forced to step down. But both leaders aspire to heal and lead the nation full-time and not just be seat fillers of the two new monarchic positions in Pamerava.

Socialist Government of Baggnagia in exile doesn’t recognize the Military Council’s legitimacy and the independence of Pamerava

KREISOW, ENGLEAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC – The head of state in the exiled Socialist government Madam President Sylva Čérny has sent a new message from Kreisow, EDR. It was about the Pamerava issue and the leadership of the Military Council in Baggnagia.

Dear, Baggnagians,

I said this in each one of my addresses and I will say this again. The junta in Jugac is a Sunrisian-associated military dictatorship that is not the legal authority of the nation of Baggnagia. We are the only legal authority in Baggnagia as a government that came to power during the April Socialist People’s Revolution in Baggnagia. To discredit our legitimacy our opponents try to call our coming to power a “Socialist Coup” but we all know the truth. Our government forced into exile here in Kreisow, EDR is the legitimate government of all of Baggnagia. That includes the entire territory of the Baggnagian nation including the territory claimed by Pameravan separatists. Our government doesn’t recognize the independence of Pamerava. Those territories are part of Baggnagia. Our government’s jurisdiction is legal over all territory of the Baggnagian state and that includes territories making up supposed “sovereign” Pamerava who just had monarchs crowned there.

On some level we understand the actions of Dobrin Nóvak, Alexander Lončár and the separatist leadership. They were defending themselves and the people living in those territories from the junta in Jugac. But they could’ve instead picked up those arms to wage an armed rebellion against the junta. They didn’t have to break up Baggnagian land once again. They only left other Baggnagians behind to be under the junta’s rule. That’s not only selfish towards fellow Baggnagians but also treasonous because it also looks like Dobrin Nóvak and Alexander Lončár were pursuing personal interests. Liberating the nation from dictatorship was not a priority for them. It looks more like they used this as an opportunity to create this little kingdom or principality of theirs where they have now been crowned monarchs. Both of them have either of these two viruses going around and they don’t know how much time they have left in this world so might as well do what they did. Live in their own personal fairytale. Sabotaging Baggnagian territorial integrity is treasonous criminal act and these people will have to stand trial for this.

But the bigger picture is that it shows how toxic this junta in Jugac is. They caused another break-up of Baggnagian territory and they not only caused it but allowed it to successfully happen. They let go of Pamerava without effort. Our government and the Baggnagian People’s Army would’ve defended the territorial integrity until the end. The junta just committed another crimes to add to their list of crimes. And now people in Baggnagia are violating the quarantine by protesting the junta’s mismanagement of governing Baggnagia. This could boost infection numbers. The junta doesn’t know what it’s doing and it has to go. As your legitimate President I call upon Baggnagians to rise and overthrow the junta so that we may return from our exile, continue our revolution and start getting the nation back on its feet. We need to save it from collapse and death.

BREAKING: Guerillas Withdraw From Vesvai’s Part Of The Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai: Union Armed Forces Declare Victory Over Terrorism

The Armed Forces of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai that operate on the Union’s territory on Vesvai Island have announced an end of the guerilla insurrection on the island. According to commanders that led the anti-guerilla military efforts the armed terrorist fighters and militia associated with guerillas had capitulated and retreated. They have abandoned the territory of Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. The guerillas that were seen by the military during scouting were seen abandoning the national territory for a foreign direction. The military says it is the territory of the neighboring New Vesvai like it was always suspected from the start. New Vesvai was always seen as a sanctuary, a base of operations and supporter of the guerillas active in Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. The withdrawal of guerillas was not only tracked by the Union troops through scouting but also surveillance and tracking the radio signal that was used by guerillas to communicate among each other and coordinate their insurgency.

Commanding officers of the Armed Forces of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai stationed on Vesvai Island say that guerillas brought over from abroad may have been chased out. But the presence of guerillas on the island has encouraged imitators and sympathizers who engaged in acts of vandalism, looting and domestic terrorism under the same slogans used by the guerillas. Infamous examples include the high-jacker of police vehicle in Sotana and the blowing up of the statue of General David Olbastal in Marble City. And these are just two of well-known high-profile examples that became highly covered news nationwide. These do not include other similar instances that were not presented to the public as transparently. They became part of classified information related to military and state secrets. These acts were inspired by guerillas and their incursion but commited by local Union citizens on the island. The Union army suspects a surge of domestic terrorism inspired by the guerillas and the military is prepared to combat that on Vesvai Island. But for now they declare that the most active and intense phase of the Guerilla War has ended with the Union’s victory over terrorists.

With these news Union’s Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal allowed himself another comment which he claimed was personally from him and not on behalf of the central government in Fortwel. The Prime Minister felt like he had to say something since these occurrences took place on his home island. More modestly than usual PM Jonathan Mollisal had words of relief and gratitude to the Armed Forces of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai for defeating terrorism and restoring peace on Vesvai Island. He wished them luck and promised support in further upholding that peace against all enemies wishing to tear the Union apart.

President Addél Dîlectên And Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch Of Baggnagia Hold Video Conference: A Theory Considered That Pamerava Could Be Or Become “Another Weniges Reich”

President Addél Dîlectên has held a video conference with Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch, Chairman of the Military Council of Baggnagia this morning. The last time the President conversed with the Chairman of the Military Council was with Captain General Alexej Reitzik, who has since been abruptly removed from the position of the Military Council over the crisis related to an Association Agreement between Baggnagia and the Union of Ventismarian Nations (UVN) and the Pameravan crisis. This is the first video conference between President Dîlectên and Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch of Baggnagia.

Both officials discussed the situation with the RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 pandemic. Sunrisia currently has 11 active cases, as another patient has recovered. Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch said that, according to official numbers, the amount of cases of either RETRIT-20 or PVAX-20 in Baggnagia, unclear whether this includes the break-away self-proclaimed Pamerava, has sky-rocketed to a triple digit number of approximately 151. The initial wave of the pandemic was brought up by the plebiscite on the Baggnagian reunification and the treaty signing around unification that followed, despite the best sterile conditions that were undertaken. The further giant leaps of infections were brought about by the coup d'état of the Socialists in Baggnagia, the so-called “counter-coup” which soon followed including with our country’s assistance to “undo” the coup d'état by the Socialists, as well as the most recent Pameravan crisis. The boosted growth of infections was also brought about by events revolving around these critical chapters in the newest Baggnagian history. Most recently, Baggnagia has been facing protests on the streets over against the Military Council of Baggnagia for its’ handling of the situation with Pamerava. Since it includes large gatherings of people in one place, even with anti-infection and anti-virus protection, it is still a huge risk and it is unclear how many more infections may arise from these manifestations alone. There is hope that the worst would not happen.

With such rapid growth of RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 cases in Baggnagia, President Dîlectên further extended the offer of Sunrisia accepting patients from Baggnagia to help lower the number of those infected in Baggnagia, which has been growing so rapidly. It is known that there has also been a consideration of possibly sending geared-up and well-protected Sunrisian medical professionals, including and even mostly military medics to Baggnagia, in order to combat RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 straight on the ground there. However, that has only been a discussion within the Sunrisian government. It is unclear whether that strategy was seriously considered and whether it was offered or discussed with Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch in this video conference. Both leaders also talked about the Pameravan issue, which has already been brought up several times in this story alone. Even the trial of the ousted regime of the former North Baggnagia by the National Tribunal in Baggnagia was touched upon in the video conference.

Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vénî Adsécĕr was actually the one to talk about the Sunrisian take on the situation with Pamerava, which was also voiced by President Addél Dîlectên during his conversation with Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch of Baggnagia. Minister Vénî Adsécĕr issued a following statement:

“The Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia supports the territorial integrity of Baggnagia, which was so recently restored by a democratic vote of the Baggnagian people. We consider territories under de facto control of the self-proclaimed Pamerava as part of the Baggnagian state. We cannot rule out the theory that the self-proclaimed Pamerava might be another Weniges Reich. Although the Baggnagian side has not talked about having any knowledge of foreign intervention to assist in the secession of Pamerava, like in the case of Englean aggression against Daredland in helping to tear away the territories under de facto control of the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich proxy entity, it cannot be ruled out that self-proclaimed Pamerava may have acted with outside assistance.

The possibility of outside assistance to Pameravan separatists is supported by the quick pace of the takeover of land incorporated into Pamerava, the quick self-organization of militia, without including defectors from the Baggnagian army that had joined the separatists, and the challenge that the Baggnagian Military faced in fighting these separatists up until the cease-fire. There was a motive for outsiders, since the formal reason for Pamerava’s secession from Baggnagia was the backing out by Baggnagia from an Association Agreement with UVN. Given the geographic proximity, the membership in UVN that certain countries have, their geopolitical ambitions and the precedent of such hybrid warfare technologies in places like Daredland, it is not far-fetched to think that Baggnagia was punished for turning its’ back towards certain countries at the last minute. And it may not have even been the Engleans that I have obviously been hinting at in this entire statement. It could have been their allies in UVN using this same hybrid warfare technology. Or it could have been all these factors combined.

We cannot even rule out the possibility that there was foreign intervention in the past coup d'état by the Socialists in Baggnagia, sponsored by countries to the east of Ventismar, including in Ophion, given the ideological similarity. That is also reinforced by the fact that the ousted Baggnagian Socialists have been given asylum by a Marxist Eastern Ventismarian country of EDR, where the Socialists are keeping a government-in-exile formed by them active. We cannot even exclude the option that some troops of the so-called Baggnagian People’s Army, the military proclaimed during the brief Socialist seizing of power, did not fight on behalf of the separatists in Pamerava to destabilize Baggnagia, where the Military Council is currently in power. There are a lot of possible competing interests in freshly rebuilt Baggnagia which is only getting ready to walk its’ newest path.

In case of Pamerava specifically, even if no foreign powers were involved, there is no ruling out of the possibility that the self-proclaimed Pamerava could be repurposed into another Weniges Reich and be used by Baggnagia’s neighbors as a point of pressure and a bargaining tool, the same way that Daredland’s enemies are using the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich against them. This is something that we had warned our Baggnagian partners about.”

Minister of International Relations Vénî Adsécĕr did not comment whether these were conspiracy theories put together by the government or whether this might have actually been intelligence gathered by PID and the rest of the Sunrisian intelligence community.

Internet Connection Troubles In Vesvai’s Part Of The Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai Again

Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai is facing problems with internet connection again. The Union’s territory on Vesvai Island has just survived the guerilla problem and is still absorbing the fresh good news. But local citizens have once again started flooding their internet providers with complaints about losing the service and the connection. Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai was facing these problems prior to the guerilla problem and now these old problems have return after the solution of new ones.

Local authorities are looking into the issue and many of their answers or explanations are similar to past ones. But there have several new ones added too. Authorities say that there has possibly been another cyber-attack launched on Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai by hostile foreign powers. This would be a very good time to do something like that to keep Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai paralyzed, struggling and to have the local population irritated. This is especially a good time to do something like that because the Armed Forces of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai have defeated guerillas in the nation’s territory on Vesvai Island. So there need to be other problems manufactured to keep Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai destabilized or paralyzed.

But the local authorities have also included the factor of guerillas too. The terrorists may have messed with the internet service providers on the island. Even if foreign-origin guerillas have abandoned Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai their sympathizers, imitators and ideological allies could still be on location continuing their work from the inside. And they might be local. Of course all possibilities can be happening at the same time including an outside cyber-attack combined with guerilla destabilization from the inside. Whistleblower Reveals Pandemic Response Team Axed Prior to RETRIT/PVAX-20 Breakout

An anonymous whistleblower has come forward with information stating that the Madsen Government had axed Eikangaard's pandemic response team prior to the outbreak of RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20. In a statement containing packets of information from the Ministry of Public Health, the whistleblower maintains that they do not know the exact reasoning for shutting down the team. The documents, however, paint a picture of a Ministry in the midst of downsizing in response to a smaller budget. It is likely that the pandemic response team was cut to reduce costs while not sacrificing day-to-day operation capability.

The government has been quick to denounce the whistleblower stating that, by leaking sensitive and classified documentation, that they had perpetrated an act of sabotage against the state. Of note, Premier Madsen has come out in support of a criminal investigation of the whistleblower, demanding that he or she be located and tried for treason.

"This person, whoever they are, is a traitor to Eikangaard." Said Madsen. "By releasing the documents they did, they have compromised the safety and security of Eikangaard. This person must be found, convicted of treason, and summarily punished accordingly." It is worth noting that the punishment for treason within Eikangaard carries a minimum life sentence without opportunity for parole or early release.

However, many have come out in support of the whistleblower, including opposition leader Tina Averden, who praised the whistleblower for their courage. "Considering the circumstances, it's a good thing that this information was made available. Now we can come to a greater understanding of why the government's response to RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 has been so anemic despite strong words from the leadership." She also had strong words for Premier Madsen. "[Premier Madsen's] attempts to stifle access to information and punish those who see problems in out institutions is worrying. Leadership should be made to answer tough questions about their decisions, not attempt to quash it. It harken's back to a time when Eikangaard was under the thumb of two oppressive regimes. It's something we were supposed to have left behind in in mid-90s."

Baggnagian Representative Fénix Wins Alternavision Song Contest: Svésâs Ârmiá (Army of Light) Takes 9th Place

The Alternavision Song Contest: One and Only, as a one-shot substitute for the 66th Sunalayavision Song Contest, an annual competition, has ended. The winner of the competition is Fénix, an artist from Baggnagia, which has yet to debut in the annual Sunalayavision, but has debuted in Alternavision and swept it. The victory of the Baggnagian artist carries a sentimental side behind it, as Baggnagian media reported that Fénix was contemplating of dropping out of Alternavision all-together. This consideration was tied to the artist’s grief at the Pamerava conflict, which broke out and was still in its’ active phase. Understandably, the artist did not feel like performing or partaking in any sort of celebration with a war in her home country. The Pamerava conflict was seemingly stopped with a cease-fire, which was first declared verbally by the parties to the conflict and later signed as a treaty. Things apparently remained peaceful since as no news of hostilities have been coming out since. Fortunately, the relieved Fénix could apparently perform and claim her victory.

There is no doubt that the talent and the beauty of the song that Fénix performed won Baggnagia the 1st place. The Jury of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia awarded Baggnagia 5 points, which was the maximum. Nevertheless, this could also be seen as a symbolic victory, where other countries showed empathy to Fénix’s personal emotional turbulence over the situation in her home country as artists were preparing for Alternavision, as well as solidarity with the country of Baggnagia at that time, which has had a recent tough history. The 2nd place was claimed by Makenzie and Athabaska, while the 3rd was taken by the Englean Kaiserreich. To everyone’s surprise, the Jury of Sunrisia awarded the Englean performers 5 maximum points, saying that this was a cultural competition without politics and that the status of relations between countries did not matter here. Many other countries collected an identical amount of points, but they were placed on the final table with votes in alphabetic order. Our country’s representatives Svésâs Ârmiá (Army of Light) took the 9th place, although Sunrisia had the same amount of points as North Rukonia in the end, but because of alphabetical order of countries’ names, North Rukonia finished 8th and Sunrisia finished 9th. There were several times during the vote, when our team was in the Top 5 or even steadily sat at the 2nd or 3rd place, but by the end, it ended where it ended. Nevertheless, Sunrisians are still proud of Svésâs Ârmiá (Army of Light) and will give them a warm welcome home without a doubt.

Members of Svésâs Ârmiá (Army of Light) congratulated Fénix from Baggnagia and took a back-stage picture together, while keeping the required distance and all being in masks, respirators and gloves, due to the pandemic. Flags of Sunrisia and Baggnagia were also held up. Somehow, they pulled off the look. Still a better alternative, than walking away with no picture together. Reportedly, Svésâs Ârmiá (Army of Light) and Fénix even spoke about a possible future collaboration.

The question now remains if Alternavision will indeed be treated as an isolated spin-off contest, the outcome of which actually does not carry over into the 66th Sunalayavision Song Contest, or will there be a consideration to actually go off of the Alternavision results for the 66th Sunalayavision. In other words, will Felsinia still host the future 66th Sunalayavision Song Contest as the winning country of the 65th Sunalayavision, which also hosted Alternavision but did not participate in the contest, or will the winning country of Alternavision Baggnagia actually host the 66th Sunalayavision? In a hypothetical case the second option is chosen, how will the situation in Baggnagia be with the RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 pandemic or with other problems by the time of the contest? Will Baggnagia be safe in case the 66th Sunalayavision will decide to go off of Alternavision results? We will see in the future.

Fénix emerges victorious in Alternavision, winning first place in the contest

CIÛṠA DLA DISAIṠA, FELSINIA – It was the first time that Baggnagia has partaken in any sort of an international competition throughout its entire history. And the nation’s first attempt ended up better than anyone could’ve expected in Baggnagia or elsewhere. Baggnagia won the competition. Fénix and her song “Černý Anděl” has one over the hearts of international voters. More correctly international juries from nations that participated in the competition. After considering leaving the contest over the sadness because of the Pamerava conflict Fénix said that this victory has meant the world for her. Without any intention of fake sportsmanship but honestly speaking from her heart the artist thought that there were many other performers that were more worthy of the top position. She thanked all her competitors, contest organizers, everyone who worked with her and supported her. Fénix dedicated her victory to the nation and the people of Baggnagia (including Pamerava) and to all people struggling with RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 viruses.

Troops remain stationed near Pamerava despite effective cease-fire with the separatists

NORTH-EASTERN DEMARCATION LINE, BAGGNAGIA – The Baggnagian Protection Army remains stationed near and along the entire demarcation line with the separatist-controlled Pamerava. The Military Council of Baggnagia explains that this is part of a deterrence strategy to keep the separatists from trying to possible violate the cease-fire and strike to take more land for Pamerava from Baggnagia. On the official Baggnagian behalf commitment remains to the cease-fire that was signed and the Baggnagian Protection Army will not take any military action to attack. The only orders the armed forces have is to defend themselves if the other side violates the cease-fire and to defend Baggnagian land that wasn’t seized by separatists or any other forces yet.

Despite National Quarantine, a “socially-distanced” crowd of Sunrisians from all walks of life gathered to welcome the returned Sunrisian prisoners.

The nation is rejoicing. With the diplomatic help of West Zilveren Berg as our country’s messenger, the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia has returned our 29 navy officers from Rezuan captivity. The exchange between the parties to the conflict happened in the Lutentian Ocean, in a neutral area half-way between Northwestern and Southwestern Hemispheres. Sunrisian soldiers gave 35 Rezuan prisoners back to their own military on a Rezuan boat. The Rezuan prisoners were provided with respirators, gloves and had their hands disinfected due to the RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 pandemic prior to being passed on to their own team. The other side gave back the 29 Sunrisian navy officers over to our military on a Sunrisian boat in the same matter. The ships turned their separate ways in the opposite directions after the transaction, or more appropriately an exchange, happened. The exchange itself was conducted by unarmed navy ships on both sides, although combat warships were not too far behind, watching the ordeal in case of anything. But the cold exchanging of prisoners happened without excesses from start to finish.

The arrival of 29 Sunrisian prisoners at an eastern port in Sunrisia was welcomed by President Addél Dîlectên, Vice President Césâ Gáûdĕr, Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vîsár Inpétăs, Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vénî Adsécĕr, other members of the Cabinet of Ministers, Speaker of the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Flórên Infána, and a large crowd of Sunrisian civilians, journalists, activists, celebrities, clergy of various Sunrisian religions and many other social groups in the country. The authorities were present to make sure it was a “socially-distanced crowd”, even though it was still risky to have such a large gathering of people during a pandemic and an active National Quarantine.

The welcomed heroes were later taken to military medical facilities, where they were all checked for RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20, as many of them had symptoms of either. Unfortunately, 15 of the navy officers have tested positive for either RETRIT-20 or PVAX-20. More than half of the total number of prisoners, which is 29. They will be undergoing treatment in those same facilities, where 14 individuals have already been cured and others are also undergoing treatment. With 15 navy officers testing positive for viruses, the total number of cases in the country has risen up to 26, but they are expected to be aided in recovery like those before them have been. The 14 officers that have not tested positive, will undergo an incubation period due to contact with their infected colleagues, while being given medical aid and rest after having finally been freed from foreign imprisonment.

Even if not everyone is in the best of shape, today is the day of celebration in Sunrisia, because all our captured navy officers have finally been returned home and Sunrisian citizens are commemorating this as a joyous occasion, since the nation was pressuring the Sunrisian government and the hostile foreign power holding those officers prisoner, to release them and bring them home. That demand and stubbornness, even during a pandemic, has achieved all pursued results.

The secessionist leadership of the self-declared Hasperan Republic has made several accusations against the Sunrisian Intelligence. They claim that the Sunrisian agents have been trying to assassinate multiple high-ranking officials of the so-called ‘government’ of the self-declared Hasperan Republic. They said that the ACREFOR mission in the self-declared Hasperan Republic that the Daredi government and Hasperan secessionists have managed to agree on has served as a cover for that stunt. According to them the Sunrisians have acquired the logistics and the closer access to attempt to assassinate the Hasperan leadership. Fingers are mostly being pointed at the famous Sunrisian PID.

Separate ‘officials’ of the so-called ‘government’ of the self-declared Hasperan Republic have complained about individual cases of poisoning attempts perpetrated by Sunrisian agents from food, to drinks, to toothpaste, to cigars. There were also assassination attempts by trying to stalk individual Hasperan ‘officials’ and murder them. The secessionists say the Sunrisian agents also hired mercenaries among Hasperan citizens who still remain on the territory to carry out assassinations. These hired people were supposedly given quick training and were chosen among those that would have the closest access to Hasperan ‘officials’ at work and outside work. Hasperan ‘officials’ claim there was even a dirty bomb planted at the Hall of the so-called Hasperan ‘parliament.’ The Hasperan secessionist ‘government’ views it as a Sunrisian plot to overthrow them.

Confederal Chancellor of Daredland Lars Sommer said the secessionists would have provide proof of these supposed assassination attempts. He added that if this was some sort of an attempt or a hint that the secessionists would seek to pull out of the agreement on an ACREFOR mission on land controlled by them then it would be a grand mistake. It wouldn’t probably even work since the secessionists are not the legal authority on the land their occupying anyway.

The address was formatted as for the people but it was actually to the Ventismarian neighbors of the new nation of Pamerava.

Dear Ventismarian Community,

Pamerava is now a sovereign nation. Our rise to liberating ourselves was motivated by the Baggnagian pull-out from the historically correct path of joining the Ventismarian family of nations. But we can’t really say that we had been surprised by this because of the alternative priorities the military government has. The result of the uprising is our independence. Now that we have achieved it we ask for your support in our next step towards freedom. We don’t want Pamerava to be isolated or overstay with a status of just a neighbor to all of you. We want to be part of your community. The path of sovereign Pamerava today aligns much closer with Ventismarian nations than with the nation of Baggnagia that we were so recently a part of. That shows how much more in common we have with you than with the nation we thought we were one and the same with. The fact we chose a monarchist path is just one of many things that we have in common. We will be better, stronger and more secure together. Pro-Daredi protests begin in the self-declared Hasperan Republic

Citizens of the Daredi Confederation in the occupied territories controlled by the self-declared Hasperan Republic are finally rising up. They’re protesting in demand to finish separatist rule and rejoin Daredland. The protests coincide with the international mission of ACREFOR made up of a taskforce from MDAA nations but the peacekeeping mission is detached from this political event. The Daredi central government in Freihat has yet to make a statement in reaction to what’s happening in the self-declared Hasperan Republic.

It is believed the Daredi government will attempt to be extra careful about its position and before making a statement on the developing situation in the self-declared Hasperan Republic. Most likely it will take that approach due to the concern that it could compromise a deal reached with the secessionist leadership. For that lack of a quick reaction the LPM-government has already received a lot of criticism from opposition political forces and not only opposition forces. Even those that are formally still part of the government like PLFWCD have criticized the governing LPM coalition and its leadership. The actual opposition like the Klare Sicht alliance or GU are staying quiet this time. Like they are aligning their position with the governing LPM coalition. Since this is a new event and a developing situation the Daredi government naturally still needs time and that is being understood by the public opinion.

In the self-declared Hasperan Republic the protests remain peaceful. But the secessionist leadership have still brought out the riot police onto the street. The protesters look like they intend to keep their demonstration peaceful. On the other hand the secessionist leadership is staying quiet but also projecting fear by showing strength. Looks like without having much to say the secessionist leadership is trying to drop hints and intimidate the protesters by deploying so much riot police. But even if the ACREFOR peacekeeping mission remains uninvolved in this political crisis it’s unlikely the peacekeepers from the multinational taskforce would stand by if the secessionist leadership tried to use force against protesters. And hopefully the secessionist leadership is aware of this too and that’s why it will not risk using force to suppress the peaceful protests. The Hasperan secessionist leadership is infamous for political repressions and they would probably not refrain from dispersing this uprising. But this time the stakes are too high for the secessionist authorities.

Speaker of the UVN Parliament: Pamerava Will be Supported; Weniges Reichstag Approves Solidified Constitution and Economic Bills, Beginning the "Zukunftprojekt"

Volokarn, North Rukonia -- The Baggnaggian situation continues to develop in what many have called the "Centismarian Rollercoaster," with the nation having endured years of separation between north and south, reunification followed by a socialist coup, and now another breakaway state. This state, however, has found significant support unlike its historical counterparts. The state of Pamerava began its existence on the 29th of May, declaring independence from Baggnaggia after the latter nation sought to back out of discussions with the UVN about membership. On the second of this month, Baggnaggia and Pamerava had declared a ceasefire and left the two states as separate entities on the Baggnaggian peninsula. Interestingly enough, on the 14th of June the Pameravan senate approved the establishment of a monarchy - titled the "Co-Regency" due to the adoption of a system in which two monarchs are present, rather than one singular monarch as seen in the Empire. Naturally this situation has brought the attention of Sunrisia, due to the fact that Baggnaggia was formerly aligned with the MDAA. According to Sunrisian news outlet SBN24, Minister Vénî Adsécĕr stated that Pamerava "might be another Weniges Reich," insinuating that the Empire may be connected to the proclamation and success of Pamerava.

Following two days of discussion within the UVN Parliament, it has been decided that the UVN will accept the request of Pamerava to begin the process of associate membership with the "eventual" elevation into the position of membership within the organisation. Speaker of the UVN Parliament Heinrich von der Preiszner stated today that "Pamerava will be supported," citing the instability of the Baggnaggian nation and its military council leadership. "Although Baggnaggia has seen its large share of governments on its peninsula recently, it is my belief that Pamerava stands for the values of the UVN - freedom, justice, and national unity. Due to this, the Union has decided to pass the emergency decree to allow Pamerava interim associate membership so that we may make formal contact and solidify the position of the new nation."

In addition to the recognition from the UVN, the Englean Empire itself has also taken steps to support Pamerava. In a request from His Imperial Majesty, the Reichstag and Reichsrat voted to recognise the sovereignty of Pamerava from Baggnaggia earlier today. This is due to the Baggnaggian state still recognising Pamerava as part of their territory, which has been seen as a possible reasoning for a future military operation by Baggnaggia to reclaim the territory. Chancellor von Scherzinger today stated that "Baggnaggia and Sunrisia should take care not to intervene with this new sovereign state. They may say what they will, but it is known that the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia enjoys to bad-mouth nations it does not approve of. We - Pamerava and the Empire - should continue to look forward to the bright future of the new nation and not focus on the approval of nations that arbitrarily use force to get their way, nor states supported by such nations." When questioned about statements from the Baggnaggian socialist government, the Chancellor replied that "We should not focus on the opinions of an irrelevant faction located in a state that we do not recognise nor care about."

In other news, the Reichstag of the Weniges Reich today approved its new constitution - the Verfassung des Wenigen Reichs. This new constitution was developed in order to replace the interim Weniger constitution that existed since the inception of the nation, and is designed to allow the nation to operate more efficiently with a "priority on the wellbeing of both the nation and the people" as well as to distance the WR further from the Occupied Territories of Daredland. The constitution itself is based on the Englean Empire's, but is modified in order to support institutions of democracy and more "defined" personal rights. One alteration is the inclusion of the Bundesrat, which is similar to the Englean Reichsrat, which is unique in that its members may be elected by the populations of the states of the Weniges Reich. Another significant inclusion is the creation of the "5 Weniges States" which will exist within the overall nation: Wenigberg, Hendriksleben, Lastrenberg, Kirchsenfeld, and Neu-Apfenräde. These states will have representatives in the Bundesrat, which will serve as the upper house with the Reichstag as the lower house. One of the most significant inclusions, however, are Article 34(A) and B - any Daredi state, county, town or territory may separate and join the Weniges Reich upon approval of its populace and the Weniges Reichstag. Article 34(B) states that Daredi citizens may freely become citizens of the Weniges Reich upon approval of the Weniges Department of National Sovereignty and Reunification.

In addition, the Weniges Reichstag passed the first bill that would start off the "Zukunftprojekt" ("Project of the Future/Future Project"), which is an economic and infrastructural project with its first stage set to be completed by the beginning of 2021 to bring the WR into modernity. It seeks to improve its highways, financial centres, production centres, railways, and other areas with help from nations such as the Englean Empire, Kleinaruscha, and Belantica. The first project is a series of connections between Kleinaruscha and the Weniges Reich, specifically a railroad and highway that will easily connect the two nations and assist with the project. In addition, the Weniges military will be undergoing reforms to bolster its strategic capabilities as well as receive new equipment to allow it to "stand on its own" without the need for Englean assistance. This is especially necessary with recent happenings in the Hasperan Republic, where reports of Sunrisian interference has been flooding in - worrying the leadership of the WR. Although pro-Daredi protests have not occurred in the WR, it is unlikely that it will continue this way due to the proximity to Sunrisia.

More Baggnagian RETRIT-20 And PVAX-20 Patients Brought Into Sunrisia For Treatment: Debate Continues If Sunrisian Doctors Should Travel To Baggnagia

25 new patients with either RETRIT-20 or PVAX-20 have been brought into the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia from Baggnagia. This was done accordingly with the agreement reached between Baggnagia and Sunrisia, where our country offered to take in virus patients from Baggnagia. After the last video conference between President Addél Dîlectên and Lieutenant Colonel Juraj Pietsch, Chairman of the Military Council of Baggnagia, it was revealed by the Baggnagian side that there were approximately 151 cases of either RETRIT-20 or PVAX-20 in Baggnagia. There were not calculated separately. The 25 patients being brought from Baggnagia are from those 151 individuals. At this moment, Sunrisia is bringing in only 1 individual less than the total case of Sunrisians with RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 in our country overall. Out of Sunrisian citizens, there are 26 patients total at the moment. The patients brought in from abroad, like these people from Baggnagia, are not added to the national statistic.

The Baggnagian patients brought into Sunrisia for treatment are also being taken to military facility for treatment to ensure the best quality isolation, watch and medical assistance, identically to how the Sunrisian patients had been cured. Out of locals, those recovered and in stable condition had been transferred to civilian hospitals. The Baggnagian citizens will most likely be sent there as well or transferred back home, which will depend on their personal wish and how the mutual efforts of the Sunrisian government and the Baggnagian military government will be able to accommodate that. Just like with the recovered Sunrisian patients, the Baggnagian patients will be requested to willingly participate in the test in search for a vaccine by donating their blood with antibodies that they had developed through recovery.

Meanwhile, Minister of International Relations of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vénî Adsécĕr and Minister of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Anímâ Sálû said that there is still a discussion going on within the administration of the President and with the inclusion of the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia about whether our country should dare to send doctors to work on the ground in Baggnagia with RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 patients or keep sending them to Sunrisia like it was being done so far. This debate has been going on for a while and the Sunrisian government had stuck to the latter strategy so far. Minister of Health Anímâ Sálû said that even though applying both strategies could possibly, but not officially, increase the speed of helping Baggnagian citizens recover from RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 viruses, and eradicate their presence in that nation, the presence of Sunrisian humanitarians, even with the anti-virus protective gear, was the original factor that brought those viruses over to Sunrisia. Our humanitarians caught those viruses in Baggnagia and brought them over to Sunrisia upon their return or evacuation. The Dîlectên administration obviously prefers to avoid repeating the same mistake.

• In reaction to the recent developments in Daredland, Convet lawmakers from Civic Nationalist Sovereignty Bloc and Citizen Dialogue parties are drafting a new package bill – Daredland Liberty, Sovereignty and Independence Reinforcement Legislation. The package bill, if passed, is planned to succeed both the Daredland Reinforcement Resolution and its’ companion bill Daredland Freedom Support Resolution. The package bill would be an amplified and comprehensive replacement.

Expats and refugees from the self-declared Hasperan Republic massively returning to join protests, others unable to return are protesting internationally

Pro-Daredi and pro-reunification protests resume in the territories controlled by the unrecognized and self-declared Hasperan Republic. The increasing amount of returning population to those territories have been leading these seemingly leaderless demonstrations. Expats and refugees who fled those territories are reported to be massively coming back to those territories. Those unable to return are staging protests in other territories where Hasperan expats and refugees live in. That includes the rest of the Daredi Confederation with the exception to the self-declared Weniges Reich and other nations. Hasperans have been escaping to MDAA and SOWEFTA states, other Corentian states.

Before the ACREFOR operation began and the international peacekeeping taskforce arrived the territories under the control of the self-declared Hasperan Republic became practically deserted. It was impossible to live in because of the territories virtually being cut off from the world. People were allowed a safe passage into the rest of Daredland which they have used ever since the self-declared Hasperan Republic was proclaimed by secessionists. The depletion of those territories and the humanitarian crisis led up to the start of the ACREFOR operation. The secessionists in part agreed to this out of concern that Daredland and allies could launch a one-sided humanitarian mission in those territories including by using military force. So the secessionists chose to agree to a deal instead of risking being invaded.

Since ACREFOR began the mission to sustain and help out those lands the people started coming back. And now the expats and refugees are especially quickly coming back to partake in those protests. The LPM-led central government in Freihat is still not reacting. For that it is receiving a lot of criticism from opposition and the public. Government supporters say that the Daredi leadership still needs time to appropriately react to such a quick event and avoid undercutting the agreed-upon ACREFOR mission with the secessionists.

The Daredi government also has not developed a position on the recent happenings in the other separatist territory: the self-declared Weniges Reich. Alongside the situation in the self-declared Hasperan Republic the developments over in the self-declared Weniges Reich are troubling the public just as much. The pro-Englean separatists had adopted an equivalent of a ‘constitution’ which allows for incorporation more Daredi lands and giving Daredi citizens ‘Weniges citizenship.’ Even though the ‘constitution’ includes other elements these had been the most troubling. New waves of an Englean invasion and Weniges expansionism had been talked about. Although the government isn’t saying anything the Daredi Konföderaleswehr has been strengthening positions on the Weniges demarcation line with a defensive mission.

UVN supports the Ventismarian integration of Pamerava

NEODVISNI, PAMERAVA – The Union of Ventismarian Nations (UVN) has replied to the request of Pamerava to support the sovereign nation’s Ventismarian integration. As it is known Prince Dobrin Ustanovitelj (The Founder) addressed UVN on behalf of Pamerava to ask for the organization to support Pamerava’s entry into UVN whether as an associate member or full member already. UVN has responded relatively quickly and all member nations agreed that UVN will grant Pamerava an association. It will be the first major step in the Ventismarian integration that will allow Pamerava to continue on the path towards membership. It will also prop up and stabilize this new sovereign nation.

The news from UVN were greeted in the Senate of Pamerava with a standing ovation. Prince Dobrin Ustanovitelj (The Founder) will soon give a speech on the occasion. But for the monarch has said that Pamerava can enjoy security guarantees from suspected Baggnagian forcible action to retake the territory. As for other benefits the Pameravan leadership will still have to clarify with UVN what kind of privileges and responsibilities this association will grant Pamerava for now. This includes the questions of trade and possible entry into the common market along with the free movement of people and adoption of Ventismarian conventions. Even with membership possibly being a far future perspective Pamerava can already start making reforms in accordance with Ventismarian standards and adopting laws following Ventismarian standards.

For Pamerava to be granted that association it is possible that the nation will have to sign a deal with UVN that Baggnagia was supposed to sign with UVN before it backed out and Pamerava declared independence. That deal would then have to be backed by the Senate of Pamerava and the parliaments of UVN member nations. With the presence of virus epidemic in Pamerava and on the Ventismarian continent there’s a question how it would be possible to safely conduct the signing process. But possibly Pamerava and UVN can somehow find a way around it or come up with a plan of action together to finish the necessary procedures. Aesthetically Pamerava is ready to start using UVN symbols alongside its national symbols even before become an associate member or full member.

Baggnagia formally severs its own Association Agreement negotiations process with UVN

JUGAC, BAGGNAGIA – The Military Council of Baggnagia has voted on a formal exit of the nation from the negotiations process with UVN on an Association Agreement. Up until this moment the process was formally frozen because of lack of domestic backing of UVN ties. But Baggnagia did not exit from it even if many in the Military Council were calling for it. But with the today’s Military Council vote the process was terminated with Baggnagia cutting its participation as one of two parties. Chairman of the Military Council Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch declared the vote as having passed.

Apart from lack of public support for deeper ties or integration with UVN the principled and harsh vote was linked to UVN’s acceptance of Pamerava as an associated entity with eventual membership prospect. Because Pamerava is still considered a legal part of Baggnagia the UVN’s actions are considered a violation of Baggnagian sovereignty and territory. This has also given more merit within the Military Council that Pamerava is indeed a puppet territory under the influence of foreign powers meant to destabilize and keep pressure along with influence on Baggnagia.

The Military Council declared that right now Baggnagia has to keep attention on two goals: keeping high-class military capabilities for national defense purposes in the face of pressure on Baggnagia and to continue the fight against RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 until the nation is virus-free. Both goals were declared realistic and not in the realm of unsupported idealism.

Study Suggests Climate Change Responsible for Increased Pollution

A new study published in the Rhodeve Scientific Journal suggests that a changing global climate may be responsible for increasing air pollution in the north of Rhodevus, including Iylan province. Complaints by residents in the northern Rhodeve peninsula about air quality have been steadily increasing since the federal government began monitoring it in early 1988. The worsening air pollution in the area has been blamed by some for the economic downturn of the area, along with the shuttering of the fishing industry in small towns.

When air pollution began to be measured by the Rhodeve government, an air quality rating system was introduced, called the Rhodeve Air Quality Index, which rates the air quality daily on a scale from 1 through 10 or more. Since 1988, the number of days where the air quality has been measured at a 4 (moderate) or higher has gone from 48 to 115 in 2019, nearly a threefold increase. Poorer air quality is directly associated with a shorter life expectation, higher rates of cancer and other lung infections, and overall poorer environmental health, according to the Rhodeve Ministry of the Environment.

Studies published over the last decade has indicated that heavy industry and large-scale construction in large cities in Iylan province such as Acadia and Rome are mostly to blame for the poor air quality, as days with lower air quality occur most often in summertime, corresponding with construction and industrial works in larger cities, whose environmentally damaging activities create small particles that are thrown into the atmosphere and carried by southerly summer winds.

However, this new study, published by Dr. Stephen Cooper and his team at Acadia Technological College suggests changing wind patterns as a side effect of anthropological global climate change may play a more significant role than earlier thought.

"What our study found was that the air that is pushed north by southerly winds in the summer has a hard time leaving the region due to changing wind patterns, meaning the air pollution can build up and worsen, and it will linger for longer periods of time. [...] This has to do with a northwards shift of the polar jet stream, creating a zone of what is essentially dead air over northern Rhodevus in the summer months," said Dr. Cooper.

Only time will tell if the Rhodeve government and the Ministry of the Environment will take any action to limit air pollution, such as enforcing air quality regulations on construction companies and heavy industries, as opposition parties have suggested. As for now, it seems smaller communities like Port-aux-Perdrix and their already-strained healthcare systems amid the global pandemic.

An Island of Complacency

As governments across the world shut down public spaces to combat the spread of the Novel virus, many experience opposition in the name of the preservation of personal freedoms. The people Hauteterre county and Port-aux-Perdrix, however, have proven to be stringent in following regulations. As such, Port-aux-Perdrix has only had one reported case, in connection with the nursing home in Baie St.-Paul.

Though Iylan province has gradually grown to be in opposition to the federal government politically, the residents of the province seem to have heeded the message that staying home saves lives. The population of rural Iylan province, including Port-aux-Perdrix, is substantially older on average than the rest of the country, and are therefore more at risk.

To combat the increased threat, some restrictions here are more strict than in some areas of the country, such as personal beauty services like hair and nail salons remaining closed as of this weekend, even after some areas of the country have let those services reopen.

"It is important that we manage the risk of a population that has the highest percentage of seniors in the country, and we should be aware that reopening services too soon does pose a substantial threat, where we could see a large spike in cases as people increasingly interact face to face without observing social distancing rules," said Dr. Michel Marin, doctor at Hauteterre Regional Hospital.

While some areas of the country are experiencing a resistance to the enforcement of social distancing rules and public mask requirements, Iylan province seems to be an island of complacency in a turbulent political climate.

Novel Virus Will Help Economy

"As if the current economic situation could get any worse", you might say. Of course, the institution of fishing restrictions irreversibly damaged the economic situation for all of Hauteterre county, and now the Novel virus has shut down all but the most essential services.

However, in the long run, I believe that the global pandemic will end up helping our local economy, once restrictions are lifted. You may have heard many city-dwellers talk of "leaving the city" and going somewhere less densely populated, as a means of being kept inside during quarantine. I strongly believe that Port-aux-Perdrix will end up being one of those destinations that people will flock to once restrictions are lifted, meaning a resurgence for our tourist industry and an influx of people for our businesses.

In the end, some may even choose to stay here, as the possibility of multiple waves of Novel virus and new viruses emerging may scare people away from densely populated urban areas, and the concept of working from home through the internet becomes increasingly viable. I know it may look bad for now, but I think that, despite the incredible tragedy occurring around the world, the fallout from the virus may lead to an evening of the playing field between large cities and our very own Port-aux-Perdrix.

5 Ways to Stay Active During Quarantine

As we all know, the Novel virus has barred us from gathering in groups, taking away the possibility of team sports and even going to the gym. In response, I have compiled a list of five ways we can all stay active during the pandemic, to keep ourselves healthy, both mentally and physically.

1. Hiking

The forests and hills around Port-aux-Perdrix are home to wonderful flora and fauna, and easily accessible by use of the publically-maintained trails that connect the region. And, as a bonus, they are completely free. Take your whole family on a nature-filled walk for as long as you like and stretch your legs.

2. Swimming

As the warmer weather arrives in Port-aux-Perdrix, the water becomes almost bearable to swim in. For the brave, a cold water swim has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, a fact increasingly important in today's health climate. As public pools remain closed, the ocean is becoming more appealing to those who plan to beat the heat with a dip in the water.

3. Golf

Although golf isn't the most active of sports, it is still a good way to get out of the house and breathe some fresh air. Golf courses normally require appropriate attire for participation, however these rules have been relaxed in favour of increasing business, as golf courses are one of the only public places allowed to remain open because they allow for appropriate social distance. For those who cannot participate in strenuous activities, golf may be a great option to get outside.

4. Jogging

For those who want to stay in shape, or even get in shape, jogging is an option that you should consider. The open air of the streets and paths of Port-aux-Perdrix allow for appropriate social distancing, while giving endless variation for routes. With the increased free time that most people have, trying to get in shape seems to be a popular goal for the end of quarantine. For me, jogging is the perfect way to do just that.

5. Sailing

For those who are not avid sailors, and those are hard to find in this town, it may be hard to believe how strenuous sailing can be, especially in the high winds common to the area. As the marina remains open, as long as you follow the 2 metre distancing rule to get in, you have the option of renting a boat for a day and going out and experiencing the beautiful ocean, at a fair price of only 2 Rhodes.

25th Anniversary: Where We Are, How We Got Here, and Where We Want to Be

It's been 25 years since the reunification of Eikangaard after nearly five decades of separation into two ideologically opposite nations during the Cold War. For years, the northern Democratic Socialist Republic of Eikangaard and the southern Kingdom of Eikangaard were locking in a military and economic struggle for dominance over their neighbor. It wasn't until the mid-eighties that both nations began a lengthy process of detente and reunification, helped along by a wave of Eikan nationalism and a weakening economy on both sides of the heavily militarized border. This concluded with the June Crisis of 1993, wherein hardline communists attempted to halt reunification in a coup and simultaneous assassination of King Garnaren VII.

The coup, as we know, failed in a joint operation between North and South Eikan army forces and the present King Garnaren VIII took the throne. Reunification followed two years later. A new state formed from the ashes of the DSRE and Kingdom of Eikangaard, the modern state of Eikangaard. In the official address on July 6th, 1995, King Garnaren VIII and Premier Jan Matthis made a proclamation stating that Eikangaard would be a state advocating for erasure of old divides. This, symbolically, included the dismantling of fortifications along the former border dividing the country. But it also included measures to equalize the economic fortunes of both halves of the country. To prop up the comparatively impoverished territory of the former DSRE.

However, as we approach the 25th anniversary of reunification, it is clear that there is still much work left to be done on both fronts. There are still a number of fortifications yet to be dismantled along the former border, and there is still a notable disparity between north and south. Just last week, it was announced that work on Highway 47, linking Resco-Vitca to Nentergaad would halt after the discovery of live landmines in the area the highway was to pass through. Miraculously, no one was injured when one of said landmines was dug up by an excavator, narrowly avoiding a disaster. It's unknown how long the project will be laid up while the area is combed for more unexploded ordinance.

And recent figures from the Internal Revenue Bureau found that, on average, residents of southern Eikangaard earned about 30% more than their northern counterparts. The report attached to these figures concluded that this is largely due to a combination of greater job opportunity, greater access to schooling and healthcare, and more robust infrastructure in the southern half of the country.

But naturally, there are also signs of hope. Most of the old fortifications are gone, save for a few sections that have been disarmed and preserved as National Heritage and Historical Sites. Most agree that the recent Highway 47 discovery represents one of the last few holdouts of the old border. And the rate of economic growth, while currently at a steady 4% across the nation, heavily favors the northern portions owing to policies attempting to attract more businesses to the region and the growth of the tech sector in Resco-Vitca.

While on the 25th Anniversary of Reunification we recognize that we still face many challenges, including facing RETRIT/PVAX-20, we can also take pride in the accomplishments we've made as one nation. Eikangaard has emerged from the ashes of the past as a beacon of hope ad renewal. One can only imagine what the next 25 years will bring.

Convet Debates A Possible All-Together Lifting Of The National Quarantine

Today was dedicated by the lawmakers of the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia to the discussion of the National Quarantine. 4 people have recently recovered and there had not been any new cases since all captured 29 Sunrisian navy officers were returned from Rezuan captivity and 15 of them were diagnosed with either RETRIT-20 or PVAX-20. Those 4 individuals that had recovered today, were among past cases, while it was said that the returned navy officers are still among those infected and are undergoing treatment, according to the Department of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. With a large country only having a double-digit number of cases throughout and the situation having been largely brought under control, a suggestion has appeared within the Convet on whether Sunrisia can consider not only relaxing the quarantine even more, but lifting it all-together, while giving the judicial status of quarantine requirements a status of recommendations. Such conversation was brought today to the legislature by lawmakers from the Citizen Dialogue party, which is part of the majority-holding multi-party coalition in the Convet. Nevertheless, not only were some opposition parties skeptical, but so were fellow coalition partners, like the Egress Alliance and the Civic Nationalist Sovereignty Bloc.

Not everybody is thrilled with the idea of relaxing and reinstating the normal order of things until all patients had recovered, especially since Sunrisia is not only treating its’ own citizens, but bringing in foreign patients, namely Baggnagians. Considering this, the skeptics say that quarantine should stay to not risk putting even more sudden pressure on the healthcare system. The virus, the quarantine and everything associated had been topics of passionate discussion. Today was no different. Lawmakers had not been able to reach an agreement today, but there was a compromise reached. The Convet decided to invite Minister of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Anímâ Sálû to speak before lawmakers and assess the situation. The Minister will be looked at as someone with the final word on whether Sunrisia can now afford to lift the quarantine. Many lawmakers also openly said they expect the understanding of President Addél Dîlectên, if Minister of Health Anímâ Sálû is looked at as the final authority and not the head of state, since health is not directly the President’s area of expertise, whereas that is everything that Minister Anímâ Sálû does. Before the discussion on quarantine was finally dismissed and the Convet ended that specific session, the Egress Alliance added it could only support hypothetical lifting of quarantine if the national borders remain closed for entry and exit.

President Addél Dîlectên has not been made part of the conversation so far and the Convet is debating the quarantine internally for now. The only administration/cabinet official that was mentioned as being brought into conversation would be Minister of Health Anímâ Sálû, as already mentioned. Meanwhile, the President was referenced in the aforementioned expression of hope that he would understand if his word is not looked at as the final one for the decision that the quarantine should be lifted. President Dîlectên said he expects to be brought into the conversation later, when the Convet does format some its’ agreed-upon strategy and the head of state expects to be informed and consulted with in advance before any decisions are made. The President added that he wants to address the citizens again soon on the topic of the virus and quarantine, as well as keep the population updated on what course of action the country is headed towards before decisions are taken. In case the Convet does not manage to agree on the quarantine strategy, no matter the determination that lawmakers seem to demonstrate, it is even expected that the Superior Court of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia may somehow get involved with a potential ruling on what action should be legally taken in the court’s opinion if the other branches of the government will be stagnating with the decision.

Separatist authorities of the self-declared Hasperan Republic are prohibiting Daredi politicians from entering the territory

Protests are continuing in the self-declared Hasperan Republic. Since they began the protests have not been calming down but rather growing in scale because of more people joining every day. A lot of refugees and expats who had been abandoning the deserted self-declared Hasperan Republic have been coming back to join. Hasperan migrant communities in other parts of the Daredi Confederation and in other nations who were unable to return have organized protests elsewhere outside of the separatist-controlled territory. Around these political events the ACREFOR multinational peacekeeping taskforce resumes its mission without intervening. But the Hasperan separatist authorities are still growing wary and untrustworthy of ACREFOR presence because of the separatist theory that the Sunrisians have been organizing and backing these protests somehow. The Sunrisians hadn’t confirmed or denied it. But it could as well be a simple self-organization of people wanting to defend their rights and their homes while the separatist authorities are looking for excuses to repress the uprising.

The Daredi government has not yet reacted to the situation in the self-declared Hasperan Republic even after all this time. For this the government has received a lot of domestic criticism. Reactions had only been coming in from non-government politicians, opposition politicians, NGO members, other activists. The only political force formally still in the government that reacted was PLFWCD and it has criticized the governing LPM coalition for lack of response to the situation in the self-declared Hasperan Republic. Many Daredi politicians have been attempting to openly access the territory for the first time since the separatists took over and broke it off from the rest of the Daredi Confederation. The politicians have not hidden their motives of wanting to speak with protesters because of them still formally being Daredi citizens, the territory still being part of Daredland and thus the nation’s politicians having a right to be there and speak. But the separatist loyalist police has prohibited entry of Daredi politicians into territories controlled by the self-declared Hasperan Republic even though there’s no formal border. These politicians have asked both the Daredi government and even the ACREFOR forces to ensure the right to entry into the self-declared Hasperan Republic which the separatists are illegally preventing.

Those politicians denied entry say that the separatist authorities are afraid that the protesters in the separatist-controlled land could find leadership in Daredi politicians who would express support of peaceful democratic demonstrations and could even assist in the self-organization of people. Hasperan separatist authorities are also not speaking out just like the other side that’s formally their opponent. Looks like nobody has yet formulated a strategy on how to look at this natural organic wave of people’s protest.

Prince Dobrin Ustanovitelj (The Founder) recovers from RETRIT-20

NEODVISNI, PAMERAVA – Good news from the non-political front. One of our nation’s monarchs: Prince Dobrin Ustanovitelj (The Founder) has recovered from RETRIT-20. The Prince was already able to lead this nation even while having the virus. But now that he has made a recovery the Prince will definitely be able to lead Pamerava even more effectively. The people of Pamerava can sleep calmly at night during these days. Pameravans will now have to wait for the same kind of good news on the health of the other monarch: Prince Alexander Rešitelj (The Savior). Our Prince Alexander still has PVAX-20 which is the stronger of the two viruses when compared to RETRIT-20. And it took Prince Dobrin longer to recover. Hopefully Prince Alexander will soon too beat PVAX-20 and the doctors are doing the best they can to achieve that. Until then Prince Dobrin will have to lead alone with the aid of the Senate. Another bright side of Prince Dobrin recovering is that it raises chances of his ability to travel internationally and sign treaties on behalf of Pamerava. That would include treaties on the Ventismarian integration of Pamerava. In the meantime Prince Dobrin has wished for his fellow monarch Prince Alexander to recover too along with all those infected in sovereign Pamerava today.
