The land of the creatures has been at peace for a indeterminable time. But now that peace is broken. Ungatt Trunn is back. Coming back from a horrible injury, he has brought even larger Hordes. He has partnered with Gulo the Savages's son. Together, they seek revenge on those who wronged them. Who will you be? A upholder of good or deliverer of Evil?

Bahltair MacNeil was watching the four score rats walking in a column, foraging for food
"Confounded vermin! Always tryin' to take other's pie. They'll get their pie alright!" He whispered. "Rano, you ready?"
"Yes sa'" Rano responded. At Rano's signal, a flurry of rocks attacked the column. Bahltair went on the trail with his score and a half of squirrels.
"To the Dark Forest to all of them!" Bahltair shouted. The squirrels fell on the vermin.Bahltair sidestepped one then tripped another. He proceeded to stab them both with his sword. He whirled around, blocked a overhead swing then slayed the vermin . Then he flung his dagger at a vermin, slaying him instantly. The column was dead as fast as it was alive.
" Them wee little vermin stood no chance." said his friend Fergus said of the vermin. Fergus was his friend since he was dibbun, growing up in the highlands.
"Mebe, but ah think they got good stuff. Look at tis' dagger. Tis' good quality!" Replied Rano. Another squirrel muttered under his breath. Rano cuffed him. "Say that one more time Bettle, and you'll get something worse than a cuffing." Rano threatened.
Bahltair shook his head at the numder of vermin. "I'ma gonna have to call a meetin'. There be too many vermin nowdays."

At meeting place:

The six squirrel tribes had come to the meeting. Bahltair started the meeting
"Romts, Renes, Medes, Scuuts, Bartes, and Cams, Ah stand here before y'all to say, we must create an army. There are many vermin comin' aroun' here. Too many to be a coincident. One of ma' scouts here has seen the army. Speak up Felx."
"Sirs, I have seen the vermin army. It is so numerous, you cannae see the ground. When they march, the earth shakes." Bahltair spoke again, "We must first reunite our selves then take this matter to Redwall abbey or Salamandastron. But we need to start now. What is your vote?"
The leaders of Rene, Mede and Scuutes stood up.
The leader of Cams, Guino spoke "If there are so many vermin, what makes you think we can beat them?"
Bahltair responded "If we don' try, we'll neva know. Tis the only option, ma friend."
Reluctantly, the leader of Bartes and Cams stood up. "We will join your cause."

Charles was eating his blueberry and blackberry pie.
"This is delicious, Merian. What's the ingredients?"
"I ain't tellin' you, Mr.Charles. Only to you I don't." Merian said with a grin.
Suddenly the breakfast hall erupted. There were 2 creatures, a mouse and a hedghog, talking of different things. Charles set down his plate and made his way there. "Hey, what's happenin'? And one at a time too."
The hedgehog explained " We were comin' over here for breakfast an' all the sudden, we see a 4 score of vermin. They was' singing' vermin tunes when one of them saw us. We ran and came over here. They'll be here any moment!"
Charle told a mouse, "Brother Griswold, close the gate. And get the skipper here!"
After a couple of minutes, the Skipper arrived with his 12 otters. "Is it true?"
"Yes, sa. They're bangin' on the gates right now. Get into position. I'll try to negotiate."
Charles walked to the walls "What do you want?"
A rat responded "Your heads on platters!"
Charles responded with a straight face "We'll talk about it." Charles told the otters, "Get in position" Charles then went back to the wall and said, "Well, how about some stones?" At that signal, the otters let loose. Charles got his sling and fired. An arrow bounced of his armor. Charles then went down the ladder to a trapdoor. He left out of the Abbey, went around. At that point there was only a score of vermin left and they were going to start retreating. Charles repped through them and the otters joined in. "Ah think they meant their own heads on them platters."

The squirrel tribes were getting ready for the march. There were 350 squirrels going, 200 melee and 150 with bows and arrows/slings. Bahltair collected his ration bag. It contained 2 farls made of dried fruit and berries stuffed into the farl of oats and rye bread, drenched in honey and a canteen of water.
"Come on squirrels. We haven't have all day." The squirrels marched all day, then settled down to make camp.
" Come on, ya don' have a weeny bit for this poor ole' squirrel? You are not a gennelbeast." Fergus was saying to Bahltair.
"Take that famine-stricken face off your face. Ya got more food than me. If anything, ah should be asking you for scraps."
Rano walked to Bahltair with a serious face, "Sah, we found some vermin."
Bahltair followed to where the other leaders were.
The scout, Felx led them to a clearing. There they saw a huge army of rats.
"Oh my," Bahltair gasped, "that must be 400 rats down there!"
"Try 500" Felx responded.
"We're gonna have to do battle with them tomorrow."
"You're kidding! That's too much!" Guino said.
"We have to. Don't you realize they're on the way to Redwall Abbey. They're gonna massacre them!"

Charles called a meeting in the Redwall Abbey.
"Father Gorgey, I believe there are a larger force behind this."
"That's impossible! That was 100 vermin. 100! Only one villain has been able to get more vermin. And he's dead."
"Yes. Possibly. But not totally. He could have survived. And what about Gulo. We know for sure he's dead, but there was a wolf there and he wore Gulo's vermin uniform. There could have been a cousin or someone. So yes, call me crazy, but there are more vermin. We need to call on Salamandastron for help. Also, I will go to the countryside to organize plans if we see more vermin. I will get good beasts to train and ready to fight. I just need the consent of the people of Redwall. Skipper, get your beast ready if any vermin try to attack again."

The Squirrels get armed and get primed for combat.
Bahltair then gives a rousing speech.
"Beasts! It is a honor to be able fight with you! Even though the vermin out number us, we will show them the power of good! Now lets march bravely. Take them to the Dark Forest!"
With that, the warriors went out of the forest and toward the vermin camp. The vermin stood up and started arm themselves, but they stood no chance. Bahltair sliced through two of them, then knocked out another with his shield. He then proceeded to plant his blade in another vermin's paw and slayed one to the left of him. He then took out his sword from the vermin's paw and put it straight through it's mouth. The slingers and archers fired their volleys. At the end of he battle, they had captured 10 of them and had slayed the rest. 20 squirrels had died in the attack, 3 of which were
Romts. They buried them and Sang the memorial song:

Young they fought, young they died
Hard they fought, hard they died
We remember those who payed the ultimate price
Now we let them rest in peace

The 10 vermin were brought towards the elders.
The leader of the Medes, Jute, asked "How many are there of you?"
A captain said "We are part of the Endless Hordes. We serve Ungatt Trunn and his ally Balu the Reckless. We number the stars in the sky and the leaves in the forest."
All the chiefs knew what it meant. Ungatt Trunn was back.

All the chiefs were stunned. Had not Lord Brocktree killed him?
As the other chiefs were still ruminating on how Ungatt Trunn was still alive, Bahltair stood up and said, "Well we betta start marchin'. No use sitting here, when there's work to be done, no sah." He turned to Rano "Start the bloody song Rano."
"Yes, sah!" He responded

Forward, Forward, Forward we march,
To vistory or the Dark Forest, yes sah,
We'll run to the enemy, under the arch,
We'll run shoutin' with glee
'Hoorah!Hoorah!Hoorah!'
We'll drink no water an' eat bitter grass
'Hoorah!Hoorah!Hoorah!'
We'll help all the meek, an' go o the pass,
Fightin' to the end
'Hoorah!Hoorah!Hoora!'
We'll slay every vermin, yes sah,
All til we return to the earth!

After a day of marchin', Bahltair caught sight of Redwall abbey. "Beasts! We're here!"

Duot Brawny was staring at the target. He drew back his bowstring and let loose. Whack! The arrow hit bull-eye
"And the winner of the Mossflower Archery compition, Duot Brawny!" a referee vole announced.
A silver arrow was given to him. He put it with his 3 other ones. Duot was invited to a celebration party. They were drinking ale and telling tales when a mouse in armor burst in. Everybeast went silent.
The mouse spoke "You are all in terrible danger." Murmurs arose in the crowd. "Ungatt Trunn and his ally are back with even more of his endless hordes. Anybeast that want's to join the Mossflower Militia, please come to me and sign up.
Duot turned to his group of friends. Regg Widepot, the excellent cook, Tuff Reckongar, the river otter, Baron Quill Spikedoggle, leader of the Mossflower Hedgehogs and Losé Gutensquirrel. He lined up in the line for the recruits and met Charles

Charles had started to right down the squirrel recruits.
"Name?"
"Duot Brawny."
Charles looked up. "Oh, so you're Duot. Didn't you just win your 4th silver arrow?"
"Yep right here. I did a bulls-eye at 80 meters. Did it with tis' "
"Well, ah hope to see you use it on them vermin. Next"
All day, Charles went around. The total beast signed up were 15 ice, 20 squirrels, 30 hedgehogs, 5 otters, 3 hares and 2 moles.

Bahltair walked to the walls of Redwall with Fergus and Rano.
"Anybeast here? We're friendly beasts." Bahltair shouted.
A voice replied "How'll we know if ye are a good beast?"
Poke your' head out an' see"
The head of an otter poked out. "Ah, ye are squirrels. But mighty me, how many of youse are there?"
"About 330 squirrels."
"Why the flippin' so many of you?"
"We're huntin' Ungatt Trunn and Gulo's son."
"So it is true."
"Has any vermin been here recently?"
"Yeah, 'bout a hundred of 'em. We beat 'em with the help of Charles."
"Charles?"
"The warrior mouse. Has direct lineage to Martin. He's out to remake the Mossflower Militia."

Stoutears was eating some scones when another hare, Sowtee, burst in.
"There's boats! 'Bout a score of 'em at da beach!"
Stoutears gobbled the scones and got his rapier. "Messin' with mah snack time, bad form." He went to the ledge. "By Salamandastron, they's vermin! Rats if ah can see 'em correctly."
"Never thought they would attack here." A hare named Hamelin said.
"We betta' tell the Badger Lord!" said Sowtee.

Foremole wasn't one to be vaulting across the Abbey battlements with a bow and arrow. Even if she could have fit her enormous digging paws around the delicate weapons, she would have been far too afraid of the yawning void beneath her to aim them. Instead, she set to work where was at her best: with two hindpaws firmly on the ground.

“Burr, yon vermints be most sneakisome beastyfowls,” she lectured her young digging crews. “Oi want each crew taken’ ee walls oop and down and inspeck for ee cracks and crevices, burr. Oi shall be back to see ‘ow ee getten’ on, so don’t be lazen’ around and playen’ ee foolish games, burr!”

With that, she trundled off in the direction of the cellars, to carry out the most important security detail of all: checking that the preparations for defending the Abbey wouldn’t interrupt the brewing of this season’s October Ale.

Bahltair had talked to the Abbey of the gravity of the situation
"We do not think this is da original Ungatt Trunn. We believe it is a relative, like a grandchild. We still believe he is a serious threat. But by no means stop your routine. Make your ale and food. We will be here if you need us."
He walked out and went to the temporary camp. The scout, Felx had been sent out from morning to scout for the enemy.

Prim
As one of Redwall's newest couriers, especially during a time as tumultuous as the return of Ungatt Trunn, Prim had a lot resting on her shoulders. Her performance could easily turn the tide of the war, for better or worse.

That wasn't the only problem; as a former Horde member, many were still apprehensive around her presence. Not everyone was delighted when a rat was given such a high position within the Abbey. Prim sincerely hoped that those who were wary of her would judge her not on her appearance, but on her heart and character.

In times like this, it was a relief getting to work with like-minded beasts, especially those who were so accepting of her.

Her ears perked up at the mention of her name. When she realized what was being asked, a smile crept onto her face. "I'd be more than happy to. What's the message?"

Golat the Ghost

A tall pine martin stood at the front of a small wooden boat, being rowed by four rats. Following them closely behind were dozens, if not, hundreds of other boats, packed to the brim with all kinds of vermin. The pine martin was a stark, cloudlike white, with blood red eyes locked in a perpetual glare. He was unusually tall, even for a pine martin; his dark, spiked armor, combined with his night-black cape, created a frightening picture of a warrior.

Aside from the rowers, there were two other rats sitting atop the supplies. They were hideous, with gnarled teeth and rough, oily fur that went a thousand different ways. They moved in a disturbing manner, lurching and twisting with each motion. As the boat rocked steadily in the waves, the two rats whispered among themselves.

"Did'ya hear about the messenger girl on the mainland? Calls herself "Prim", used to be one of us."

"Blimey." The rodent waved his hand, in disbelief. "Ain't nobody's ever left the Horde and lives to tell about it."

"But she did! Swear on me life, I tell ya! Stole a boat just like this one, ran off in the night. Now she's working for the Abbot! Golly, what I'd give for a job like that one."

Golat tilted his head back towards the pair of rats. He was normally stern and abrasive, but here, his voice was almost sickeningly sweet. "Would you care to elaborate on that?"

The first that's face dropped in horror and realization. "Oh, Boss, you know I was just kidding. I wouldn't give this up for the wo-"

The rat was cut off mid-sentences as Golat grabbed him by the neck with his left, gauntlet covered hand, raising him high into the air. Golat was unphased as the rat struggled and squirmed, clawing at his own neck while he slowly choked. "That's just what I wanted to hear." Golat's voice dropped back to its usual sternness. "I would hate to find out that my troops were idolizing a traitorous wretch. But let it be known that whoever speaks openly about this wretch will meet your fate."

With a roar, Golat swung around and threw the helpless rat into the ink-black sea, where he almost instantly succumbed to the depths. The rowers stopped their rowing, looking out to the sea in search of their fallen comrade, to no avail.

"Well," Golat snapped, "what are you waiting for?"

The rowers frantically began rowing towards the mainland, as the second rat sat upon the supplies, in shock. Golat payed him no mind; there were more important things at hand. He was here to provide reinforcements to Balu the Reckless and his troops.

That upset him deeply; why was Bali leading the charge, when Golat was clearly the superior strategist? It didn't matter; Golat would have to earn Trunn's respect and trust before he could lead something as important as this. Golat the Ghost knew just what would earn that trust; the capture of a certain Redwall Messenger...

Wham! An arrow struck the bulls-eye of the target. Next to him, an arrow struck but it was 2 rings away.
"You have to work on that, Losé. Focus" Charles had put him in charge of training the archers. "Everybeast, take a break." He walked to Losé

"I know, I know. Focus. But how am I to focus, when there could be thousands of vermin marching here at any second?"

"That is the point. Imagine if one of them disgusting creatures had your mum. Would you not do everything in your power to free her. Imagine the target is the vermin. But the one way to do it is hit the second smallest ring. Got it?"

"Yes Duot." Losé took aim and fired. It hit the second ring.

"Good job. It was almost a bulls-eye." Duot appraised.

"Thanks. I'll be workin' on it."

Rotclaw

Rotclaw had been one of first of the horde to land. His company had been marching for days. They encountered the thick forest. Suddenly the rat in the front stopped. He held up his paw. Rotclaw went forward. They saw scores of beasts celebrating. The major captain Beadeyes, gave the order. Rotface reluctantly ordered the attack. They rushed forward saying "Ungatt! Ungatt Trunn! Ungatt! Ungatt Trunn!" The beasts screamed and were slaughtered. Many pleaded for their lives and were killed. But those under Rotclaw's command were spared.

Katngorl

Katngorl was reprimanding a rat when one burst in.
"Sir, land has been spotted." Katngorl grabbed the rat by the scruff of his fur.
"Bargin' in ain't ya. How about you keep company with this piece of fur." He then threw him against the wall, knocking him unconscious. He stepped out. All the Rats made a aisle. He saw the land. He then smile. More beasts to kill, he thought. He then ordered full speed ahead.
