The World in 2020 is a powder keg. Nationalism in Europe, Central Asia, and the colonial territories have long been commonplace. The pinnacle of nationalism resulted in the assassination of Nikita Rurikovich, the president of Transeurasia, by Turkic nationalists, and his successor, Simion Mogilevich, has become leader of the Transeurasian state.
The Byzantine Empire, the successor to Rome, has long been threatened both domestically and internationally, has had nationalist problems since the 1920s. The Serbians, Croats, Bulgarians, and Romanians have had nationalist revolutions before, and will more than likely have more. The Byzantine grasp on Jerusalem is weak, as the Arabians and Egyptians begin to forge new claims on the region. The end of the Romans may be near, but only time will tell.
Meanwhile, in Western Europe, tension between France, Britain, and Hispania have never been higher. The Spanish privateers, with the recent Eorsa crisis, have come under scrutiny from Britain and France, who have imposed trade embargoes on the Spanish, who in turn led the Muslim League to ban oil from going into those countries. The Spanish, with strong holds over its New World colonies, are largely self sufficient, while the British and French, with their own colonies will probably struggle with the oil ban.
Only time will tell what will happen with the world...
