Hey New Ontaria, welcome. Hope I can get this rough outline across:

Sports RPing involve running final scores using a random generator called a "scorinator". The thread's OP runs this several times and publishes the scoreboard. The other RPers' job afterwards is to craft a narrative based on this result. Anything goes, tie them to your lore, godmod, whatever, as long as it conforms to the scorinator's output.

Sure! In general NS Sports is a bunch of nations coming together to roleplay about sporting competitions between their nations: the Olympics, the World Cup, football, basketball, hockey, baseball, tennis, racing, and a lot more. What makes sports roleplay different from other kinds of roleplay you'll see on NS is that every competition uses a 'scorinator,' a program that uses random numbers to create realistic scores. Of course, the results aren't purely random, they do take into account past performance. Then people create stories about the results. Doing so will also usually get you a small bonus put into the scorinator to get you a bit of a luck boost.

This thread is specifically about the World Grand Prix, which is NS's version of F1. Each season starts with nations submitting circuits, drivers, and teams. Players roleplay the signing process between drivers and teams, which means that you may wind up driving for another user's team, which means you will then work together throughout the season. With the geams filled the season starts, and it happens just like real life's F1: each week has practice, qualifying and a race and drivers earn points for their teams each week as they compete for the championship throughout the season.

If you have more detailed questions (I'm sure you do), I'd recommend reading the guide to sports roleplay, the OP of this thread, and Nimbus put together a wonderful guide to sports and wgpc roleplay here. And of course feel free to ask more questions here, in the general sports rp questions thread, or by TG.

I know I'm a bit late here because I was very busy the past few weeks.

Anyway, congrats to the champions! It was a great first season for me and I honestly can't wait for the next one. It was a nice experience and I'm sure to participate in future seasons. Being welcomed into this wonderful community, I am happy to stay.

I'll be doing more interactions with the others here, feel free to talk to me and stuff either in here in the forums, discord or telegram.

While waiting for the next season of whatever high-tier WGPO series, I'm going to do some of my own motorsport stuff.

See you all at the grid soon!

For people who haven't been to the thread yet: new version of The Racing Scorinator is out, with many new and interesting features! (Yes, including turning off quarter-distance positions.) Am proud. Do check it out!

(Just to note that I do still intend to do a final WGP2 post... One month late but then I've never been especially known for my punctuality!

Teaser time?

Yeah, sure, teaser time.

Introducing the 2020 rework of Forest Cross Raceway, coming to the WGPC circuit next season. Rebuilt to actually create a better spectacle of racing and keep things competitive, rather than just throw together things that look cool and see what happens.

Dang that's a looong racetrack.
It also looks extremely hard, which I advocate. Nice work!

I'd suggest you wait until the WGPC/WGP2 threads come up, then submit the track.

On another note, there are like too many hair-pins(or sharp corners) in the track. Some, sprinkled, ones are fine, but too many can spoil the fun, because it's very hard to turn.
I'd suggest maybe reducing the amount of said turns.

BTW ur Imgur account is the same as Azerijan...?

Looks very neat indeed. I'm getting a bit of the old Nürburgring and Le mans, as well as a lot of originality. It feels like one of the classic tracks that pushes the boundaries of what's safe IRL, but is an absolute joy to drive.

I'd definitely consider replacing some of the hairpins with straights/fast corners as well, especially as some of those hairpins are excruciatingly slow. Alex Dimitrianov would probably go quite well here over a lap, but he'd probably get bored, find an excuse to retire and go down the pub rather than completing a full race (The spell at McPahan rubbed off on him a little).
I like the first few turns though and there's definitely potential to add some fun Silverstone-style wiggly bits towards the end of the 1st and 3rd sectors, so I'd definitely encourage you to keep working on it.

I've got a few designs of my own that I've sketchbooked up and can't really choose between for the next WGPC season, but they're over in the WGP3 thread at the moment, so I won't clog things up here too much. Feel free to let me know what you think though, and the offer of circuit design/ diagram making for next season still stands.

Well, if we're sharing drafts...

It's a very first draft, and I'd have to find someone to polish it up a bit, but I've been tinkering with this idea.

Image

EDIT: There is quite an element of height difference here. The big 180 degree turn in the middle will be approached downhill and be quite off-camber, by far the most treacherous turn. The long turn on the right side of the picture is somewhat banked naturally, and T2 is approached uphill.

Ooh, I wanna jump on the hype train too!

Not sure if I will enter this track next year but it's an alternative to the Fjellutfordring which was used as a test circuit in WGP2:

Those first curves in Timantirkas are pure class, Aboveland. I can see the perfect scenario: One car slowly leaving the boxes, the other coming in full throttle. Both make the curve and the carnage is ready to start. Same to Nekoni and that mini-tunnel to leave the boxes. Is the perfect place for some great happenings. It reminds me a little of that closed curve right after the stadium in Mexico City F1 circuit.

By the way, please save a little space for me in the bandwagon, because I finally finished the final four versions of AlixRing (plus Alix Airfield).

Like the RL Formula One season, Season 18 of WGPC will mainly take place towards the end of this year. We are open for host bids. If you're familiar with The Racing Scorinator and know how WGPC seasons are usually done, you are more than welcome to come forward with a bid.

As I understand it, the current feeling is that, whether or not there are bidders, Aels / Liventia will be bidding after the olympics. Whether that bid is contested or not is up to you guys.

In other news, I'm making some further tweaks to Nimbus's improved Racing Scorinator in order to make qualifying laptimes more realistic, which was a very annoying bug in previous versions of the scorinator. Qualifying should now be fairer and more realistic. As Nimbus pointed out, the feature that gives the standings after quarter, half and three-quarter distance can now be turned on or off depending on how the host feels.
