Super-Llamaland IC Information

NATIONAL INFO

Super-Llamaland is a beautiful and diverse nation, from the serene forests of Kyrinson to the spectacular gray cliffs of Los-Juantos. Located in Eastern Esportiva, the nation of roughly forty-six million people is known for a successful democratic socialist government, some of the most environmentally-friendly policies in the world, and an absurdly well-funded educational system. The official language is English, although Arondic [OOC-ly comparable to Swedish], Yueyu [Mandarin], and Hicañan [Spanish] are all common. Llamaneans are known for their progressivism, education, environmentalism, and fanaticism for baseball.

Baseball is by far the most popular sport in the nation. While Super-Llamaland's ten-year isolation from the rest of the world led to a decline in interest in the Llamanean Baseball League, as foreign star players such as Jeff Fitzhugh and Kayla Carey left the country, the LBL remains the most popular professional sports league in the nation. Baseball is arguably the only sport Super-Llamaland has found international success at, with five WBC championships to the nation’s name, and the return of the IBS is a big deal for the international competition-starved Llamanean populace.

STADIA

Four stadia, located in the cities of New Llama City, Emerald Springs, Kyrinson, and Ruby Falls, will host IBS matches.

Tyler Rocke Memorial Stadium is located in downtown New Llama City, the Llamanean capital. Constructed in 1988, it holds 42,000 and has previously hosted the WBC30 Finals and a number of Baseball Club Championships. Formerly the home of the New Llama Cyclones, New Llama City's "second team" has taken the historic stadium over after the Cyclones have moved into a new stadium in the suburbs.

The capital of Super-Llamaland, New Llama City is known for its clean streets, modern architecture, bustling stock exchange, and strong universities. New Llama City is currently the nexus of Super-Llamaland’s fledgling bullet train system, which can take you from the City to any other host city within an hour and a half. It’s also home to some of the nation’s wildest nightlife, to many visiting managers’ dismay.

The Ultra-Dome is located in Emerald Springs, a medium-sized city in northern Super-Llamaland. It is a very new athletic complex, completed in 2010 and renovated in 2033, designed to host a number of sporting events. The 39,600 capacity is only for the baseball section of it, while it has also hosted the SuperLleague's Emerald City Harmony in the past, as well as WBC30 matches. The Ultra-Dome is host to the LBL's Emerald City Greens.

Named after its hot springs (which are, obviously, emerald in color), the city of Emerald Springs has become the technological center of the nation. It’s home to a number of fledgling startups at Innovation Park, one of the largest startup hubs in the world, as well as OuranosTech, the nation’s largest corporation of any kind. This gives the city a clean, modern atmosphere. Attractions-wise, it’s also home to the Emerald Tower, the nation’s tallest building, and the National Art Gallery.

Earnest Field is located in Kyrinson, near the northeastern coast of Super-Llamaland. Named after legendary Llamanean outfielder Jake Earnest, the stadium was built in 2025 for the Kyrinson Twin Pines. Recently renovated in anticipation of the IBS, its 46,000 capacity also makes it the largest and most modern of the four stadia hosting IBS matches.

Kyrinson’s location both near the coast and near the forest made it an economic hub for much of Super-Llamaland’s early history. More recently, though, the city has turned its efforts toward preservation, becoming the headquarters of the National Forest Reserve. The city itself is absolutely stunning - located in a valley at the edge of the forest, between beautiful Whetham Lake and the ocean, Kyrinson’s surroundings are one of the most beautiful sights in the entire nation.

Diamond Park is located in the north-central city of Ruby Falls. A beautiful hitters' park built in 2012 to commemorate the Llamanean Republic's Centennial, Diamond Park has a capacity of 33,000 and is known for its modern architecture. It is the home of South Falls Athletic, one of Llamanean baseball's most ascendant teams.

Ruby Falls doesn't have the baseball pedigree of the other three host cities, or even Vargas or Talahita. However, its hometown South Falls Athletic have recently become of the most successful teams in the LBL, rewarding their loyal fanbase's patience with consecutive President's Cup championships in the decade of Llamanean isolation. Ruby Falls itself is a bustling, historic city with a number of strong universities. Its demographics have increasingly skewed toward the young and the diverse in recent years, making it an excellent cultural hub.

GEOGRAPHY & CLIMATE

Super-Llamaland has a wide range of climates and geographies. We range from flat, tropical Nikcoro in the south to the near-arctic, mountainous cities of Dinschria. However, the vast majority of Super-Llamaland is temperate and flat, with average temperatures at about eighty-three degrees in the summer and thirty-six in the winter. Super-Llamaland's coast, however, especially the southeast coast, has actually led to games being canceled due to humidity. However, summer temperatures in the northern half of Super-Llamaland, which will host the majority of IBS matches, are generally warm, sunny, and pleasant.

TRANSPORTATION

The western suburbs of New Llama City's Arthur Moore International Airport, as well as Emerald Springs' Wagner International Airport, are both large regional hubs in Eastern Esportiva. Ruby Falls' Ruby International Airport and Kyrinson's Bridges International Airport are smaller, but still very accessible from a variety of airlines and regions.

Within the country, Super-Llamaland has a wide range of eco-friendly public transportation, including the typical buses and subways that you would see in other places. Transportation is always cheap and usually free. A system of high-speed railways is currently being built, and high-speed rail service already exists between all four cities that will host matches. Taxis are nearly-extinct, and ride-sharing services are heavily regulated and less popular than public transportation.

SUPER-LLAMALAND ROSTER: IBS XI

What happened to Super-Llamaland in the past decade? Why was nobody able to enter the country for ten years? What were the mysterious space-time fluctuations, detected by Hicañan astrophysicists, that surrounded the missing nation until its reappearance? The international community is still trying to figure things out, but one thing’s for sure - the Tigers are back.

The “[Tiger] Cubs”, as Llamanean media has taken to calling them, still have twinhe WBC42 championship DNA in their blood. They play with energy and heart, make spectacular plays on defense, play whatever position is asked of them, and emphasize contact-hitting and pitch command above pure power. While the IBS roster lacks star power from the likes of Summer Zheng, Dominik Kästner, August Bendtner, or Genevieve Strauss, none of whom will play, it does have a lot of talented young players who are fighting for their spot on the WBC roster, and hopes to still be competitive.

Manager Sofia Rasmussen, a former star catcher for the New Llama Wizards and the Tigers, takes after her mentor Laurent Mårtensson, emphasizing novel defensive schemes, a variety of unorthodox baserunning strategies, experimentation with relievers’ roles, and elevating the role of analytics in the clubhouse. But she’s still relatively inexperienced as a manager, and there’s concerns that she might try to do too much.

Starting catcher Derrick Armstrong takes after his manager on defense, but unfortunately, nowhere else. He has a cannon for an arm, a natural instinct for framing pitches, and a .237 career batting average in the LBL. While his power makes him a threat at the bottom of the lineup, his free-swinging tendencies make him one that’s easily dealt with. Corner infielder (and occasionally outfielder) Noah Slater, who is nominally a catcher but is more comfortable at first base, offers a stronger, more patient bat at the expense of lacking Armstrong’s finesse behind the plate - prompting Rasmussen to move him to first for the IBS. Miranda Gray at third is one of the most disciplined hitters on the team, and an underrated defender at the hot corner - although her inexperience and small-market team make her less of a hot commodity than the other starters. Up the middle, with the star-studded pairing of Kästner and Zheng absent, Rasmussen has opted for more archetypal players. Caitlin Rosario is a slap-hitting middle infielder best known for her speed (and, to a lesser extent, defense), while Miles Villeneuve is, despite his incredibly young age, an incredibly effective contact-hitter with enough plate discipline and power to get by, as well as a flashy - if not particularly effective - defender.

Off the bench, Ian Hart is a jack-of-all-trades utilityman who, while not the greatest hitter who could’ve filled up the bench, is definitely the most versatile and the best teammate. Emery Wu is a patient, doubles-hitting middle infielder with a sweet stroke and good range, while Albert Vaughn, is, despite his inexperience, a versatile defender with a lot of power and underrated base-stealing ability. If only he had any semblance of plate discipline whatsoever.

Isaac COLÓN, #50, 23, R - Svenssonsford Dynamo
Isaac Colón is an electrifying talent, and it’s undeniable that he has national team ace potential. In fact, ever since Colón was fifteen, he was being hyped as a future number-one pick, and after two seasons of college baseball, he was drafted and immediately promoted to the LBL. The talent is clearly there - Colón lights up the radar gun with a triple-digit fastball, and his screwball and changeup both have incredible movement. However, injuries have limited Colón to just 295 innings in three LBL seasons, and a tendency to get upset with himself and lose control (which has, admittedly, improved since his rookie year) when things start to go sideways has held him back when he has been healthy. Is the solution to that “make him a starter on the national team?” Sofia Rasmussen evidently thinks so.

Savanna WLADECKI, #54, 20, L - Derrierton Surge
Last year’s Rookie of the Year, Wladecki originally wasn’t supposed to be in the majors at all after being taken in the fourth round. But injuries forced her into Derrierton’s rotation, and although her fastball never rose above ninety miles an hour, extremely high spin and pinpoint accuracy ensured that even a relatively pedestrian-seeming fastball-slider-changeup combination was able to stymie hitters for her first season. Is it sustainable at higher levels of opposition? There’s only one way to know for sure.

Danielle NØRREGAARD, #38, 22, R - New Llama Wizards
Nørregaard has two main pitches - a high fastball and a hard-breaking splitter - that she loves to throw outside of the zone to get hitters to chase. However, the fastball is very hittable if left in the zone, meaning Nørregaard relies on chase pitches to get by against better hitters (which can lead to a lot of early walks if she doesn’t feel confident enough to spot her pitches in the zone.) Nørregaard also occasionally uses a knuckle curve to great effect, although she’s still working on its consistency.

Jason McALLISTER, #21, 22, R - BC Apple Valley
McAllister relies on careful control and inducing ground-balls then blowing hitters away and striking them out. His main weapons are a bat-eating two-seam fastball and a changeup with significant movement, and he also possesses reasonable control of a slider and a curveball that he mixes in from time to time.

Edward ZHUANG, #37, 20, L - University of Nikcoro
College standout Zhuang is first and foremost a power pitcher, with a high-octane, mid-nineties fastball and a knockout slurve that he mixes in to great effect. He lacks an effective third pitch, and his control is a little shaky, making him prone to lots of mistake pitches, but at the college level it hasn’t seemed to hold him back at all. Ace potential.

Tikariot's baseball history started roundabout a year before the registration period for the International Baseball Slam XI was announced. Known for its enthusiastic football (soccer) scene, baseball has never even been on the horizon for Tikariotians, but in an attempt to diversify the national sports landscape, Premier Minister Clayton Marshall encouraged the founding of the TBL (Tikariotian Baseball League) to begin building the sport in Tikariot.

While the level of quality wildly varied within the inaugural season, it has begun to attract a small yet fervent following and now the TBF decided to make the jump onto the international scene for better or for worse. Some of the less subtle nicknames the team has garnered is the Devil's Rejects, but the players have officially adopted it and intend to show their naysayers that they were wrong.

The national stadium, better known as Oceanview Park, that will host some matches of the group stage is part of Port Rhovanyon's Sports City, a large area close to the ocean front, where several sports facilities are centrally located. The proximity of the 36,000 seater stadium to the ocean front has proven to be a challenge for both pitchers and hitters with a tendency for unpredictable wind currents to interfere with play, leading to a Park Factor of 125.

With Port Rhovanyon being a major transportation hub, visitors to Tikariot's second largest city can both rely on Luke St. Germain International Airport and the city's expansive harbour to travel to and from the group matches.

C #22 William Carruthers, 26, R
One of the biggest enigmas of the Tikariotian team, Carruthers personifies genius and insanity like no other. He calls the game with the best of them, being one of the TBL's base stealers' nightmares, if it was not for some inexplicable easy errors that some attribute to a few too many stray balls hitting him where they shouldn't. Same goes for his offensive game, which can either be magnificent or go horribly wrong.

RF #33 Yosvani Fernandez, 24, L
Also called the Iceman, Fernandez is one player that will not crack under pressure, even if he is one strike away from the team losing the game. His composure has unnerved opposing pitchers many times and while he is not the most powerful of hitters, his aim is uncanny and he can spot holes in the opponent's defense easily.

CF #67 JJ Bernardetti, 20, R
Has a cannon of an arm being able to reach any of the bases from almost anywhere on the outfield, but still has some issues with the precision of his aim. Spotty hitter, often either scoring the homer or going for the strike out.

1B #88 Bronson Ghirardello, 23, R
Possesses incredible reflexes, which serve him very well on first base, however his arm is his biggest weakness. He will get the ball where it has to go, but lacks the power to go for the quick throws. His reflexes also help him at the plate being able to adjust to the opposing pitcher very well.

3B #26 Foster Fleming, 17, L
One of the budding stars of the TBL, Fleming promises to grow into an all-rounder, who can contribute both offensively and defensively. Blessed with a strong arm he can cross the diamond with ease and precision also is always good for a home run, unfortunately he is not the most disciplined player and tends to get distracted more than he should. Despite his young age he is, however, the league leader in stolen bases.

2B #7 Vincent Pelmore, 22, L
A rock solid player both offensively and defensively. He will get the job done very unspectacularly and rarely will excite the crowd, but he is as dependable as they come.

LF #12 Michael Romanov, 27, R
Tikariot's biggest offensive threat, Romanov has been the runaway home run leader of the TBL. With an incredibly powerful swing he has been dubbed the 'Romanov Rocket' that also has resulted in several doubles and even triples as well as a few injuries in opposing players when hit by the ball. Defensively he is less reliable, mostly due to his lack of speed, even though his arm is very capable.

SS #2 Carlton Baines, 24, L
If there is something Baines excels in, it is speed. He reads the game extremely well and manages to to reach balls (and sometimes bases) that he rationally should not be able to. On the plate he is sketchy at beset, adopting an all or nothing attitude that so far has not been to his advantage. When he does make it to a base, though, he uses his speed to steal them very efficiently.

RHP #4 De'Andre Stevens, 31
The oldest player on the team, Stevens was instrumental in the establishment of the Tikariotian Baseball League, having played abroad in the past. Equipped with a lethal fastball and wicked slurve, he can mix things up with a good changeup here and there, but lacks consistency in them.

RHP #37 Patrick Lundgren, 21
Lundgren has the hardest pitch on the team, but while his fastballs should require a gun licence, he is prone to wild pitches that have spelled trouble for his catcher more than the coaches would like to admit. He has been improving his curveball over the last season and is also quite capable with his slider.

LHP #72 Graham Pettersson, 28
While not excelling in any of his pitches, Pettersson is a wylie veteran that is very unpredictable with which kind of throw he'll come up with next. He works extremely well with Carruthers in calling the game and this unpredictability is his biggest asset.

LHP #18 Garrett Yarbrough, 25
Yarbrough has the potential to become the team's top pitcher with a very strong fastball and excellent ball control with both slider and curveball, with the occasional sinker, but his biggest weakness are his nerves. Whereas Pettersson is unpredictable for opponents, Yarbrough can become unpredictable for his own team once things begin to go sideways. He has been working on it under the tutelage of Stevens, but it definitely still is a work in progress.

RHP #11 Anthony Garcia, 27
Garcia has an incredibly fast fastball that is capable of surprising even seasoned veterans, but outside of this he only has a passable curveball and beyond that things begin to get somewhat sketchy.

Nova Anglicana IBS XI Roster Preview

Who are the players of the Nova Anglicana national team for IBS XI? More than likely, you've never heard of any of them, unless you're a die-hard, deep-diving, NABL fan. For this tournament, due to the heavy WBC workload plus NABL season, and a desire to preserve the health of top prospects, the Nova Anglican Multiversal Baseball Committee decided to select players between the ages of 25-30 with fewer than 500 ABs for batters or 60 IP for pitchers in the NABL. This largely means the team is composed of fringe prospects, failed prospects, guys who never were prospects, and guys that have had a cup of coffee in the bigs.

Officially and simply, the team is called the "Nova Anglicana IBS XI national team". Unofficially, the team has been dubbed the "AAAA" or "Quad-A All-Stars", meaning players who are too good for the upper minors, but not good enough for the majors. John Yates, the team's first starter and someone his teammates describe as a leader, has called them the "Last Chance All-Stars." Far from being derisive, players on this team embrace the name as motivation. Jean-Luc Desjardins, a former top prospect who is only 25, says he agrees with it: "We all have something to prove, and this tournament is our last chance. You don't get a whole lot of chances in baseball, even guys like me, who started their pro careers after secondary school. We're ready to prove we belong in the majors." So, meet the "Last Chance All-Stars"

Player: John Yates
Organization: Mancunium Pilots
Service Time: 12 IP
Description: Yates throws for the fairly pitching-rich Mancunium Pilots, and so has only made two spot starts in his career since being drafted out of university six years ago. He's spent the last three years with the Yarmouth Steamers of the Maritime League, compiling over 60 GS and over 360 IP, with a decent ERA. His stuff just hasn't been good enough to break through. This is his last chance to stand out from the crowd and get the Pilots to take a chance on him.

Player: Will Webster
Organization: Sept-Iles Bleus
Service Time: 0 IP
Description: Webster was a first-round pick as a college junior. He had two explosive pitches, but even in the low-level Labrador League, his control issues were apparent. He had to repeat the Labrador League and the Twin Provinces League before just breaking through to the Maritime League last year. Along the way, he lost top prospect status. This is his last chance to prove he can be a big-league starter, or the Bleus will probably move him to relief.

Player: Paul Strickland
Organization: Eboracum Yeomen
Service Time: 32 IP
Description: Strickland is actually on his third organization, and is one of the players with the most NABL experience on this team. Drafted as a college senior by the Aquae Sulis Trappers, he pitched for them for three years before being cut. The Portus Abonae Millers picked him up to fill out a roster, and along the way, he learned a screwball that got him to the Maritime League and eventually four NABL starts with them. He was later sent back down to AAA and then signed with the Yeomen, who called him up to do a little mop-up work last season. He lives on control, changing speeds, and surprising people with his screwball. At age 30, this is his last chance to land a long-term gig with a major league team.

Player: Andy Sutton
Organization: Londinium Novas
Service Time: 0 IP
Description: Sutton was originally a second-round pick of the Capitols and excelled in the Labrador League, hitting 96 consistently. But his second season, he was shelved with reoccurring arm soreness, and then in his third year, he blew his arm out. Two more seasons saw him rehab and deal with injury, playing in sporadic stints. Then the Capitols cut him. He took a year off to think about life and bring his arm back. He worked with an old pitching coach to develop a new style, delivery, and his now-signature "slutter." He attended an open tryout for the Novas and landed a job with them. He still hasn't made the bigs in two-plus years, but he wants it bad. It's his last chance to prove his arm injury didn't end his big-league dreams.

Player: Brice Duncan
Organization: DC Brewers
Service Time: 8 IP
Description: Duncan was a late-round pick by the Brewers out of university. The Brewers took a flyer on him, figuring that a guy who got so many ground balls was worth a look. And he has continued to be a ground-ball maven in the organization, grinding his way up the ladder. He's never had much of a strikeout pitch, or a standout secondary pitch, which is why he only has one emergency start and a little long relief to his big-league name. But boy, can he get ground balls. This is his last chance to prove to the Brewers, or any organization (his minor league free agency starts next year) that a guy who can make people pound the ball into the dirt is still relevant in modern baseball.

Player: Jacob Cox
Organization: Vinovium Gunners
Service Time: 4 IP
Description: Cox was an undrafted free agent after his university career ended. Vinovium needed pitching, badly, and they signed a bunch of arms. Cox has never been outstanding, but he's been consistently decent, despite none of his pitches really being that great. He is a hard-nosed competitor who tries his best to outwork everyone else. His only major-league action to date is 4 innings of mop-up work in the blowout first game of a doubleheader where he was the 26th man. This is his last chance to prove you don't need great stuff to have a big-league career.

Player: Cory Wright
Organization: Isca Town Greens
Service Time: 35 IP
Description: Wright was a late-round draft pick for the Gunners, and thought to be a guy who could be a decent NABL relief arm one day. He rose pretty quickly to AAA, but over two seasons, his brief appearances were pretty janky. The Gunners released him and he signed with the Greens. He spent a lot of time riding the train and the ferry between AAA Miramichi and Isca last season, racking up 27 essentially league-average innings. Isca Town needs arms, but righties hit him pretty good last season, so this is his last chance to work on his platoon splits and show he's an arm they want to keep around.

Player: Markus Baldwin
Organization: Portus Abonae Millers
Service Time: 0 IP
Description: Baldwin was a hotshot prospect drafted out of high school by the Gunners, with a 95 MPH fastball and a wicked curve. Unfortunately, he didn't have much control and the Gunners didn't have the best pitching development coordinators, so he spent six years as a starter, struggling with his control, racking up walks and strikeouts. At the end of six years, his initial contract was up and he'd never been above AA. He signed with Eboracum, who gave him one inconsistent year as a starter, then moved him to the bullpen. His second year was marred by injury, and the Yeomen released him. He was picked up by the Millers and has spent the last two years as a lefty specialist. After a decade in the minors, this is his last chance to show that his control has finally caught up to his stuff and he deserves a big-league job.

Player: Dana Myers
Organization: Newfield Express
Service Time: 0 IP
Description: Myers was also a hotshot pitcher with a big fastball out of high school; trouble was, he'd just learned to dominate with the fastball and nothing else. He spent two years at Pons Aelius' Labrador League affiliate as a starter, but got shelled when he moved up to the TPL because he didn't have good secondaries. He struggled to adapt and was moved to the bullpen after his fifth year. He improved somewhat, but still needed secondaries. The Mariners released him after six years and he moved to the Express. They have worked hard with him to develop his slider, changeup, and curveball. This is his last chance to show he's a pitcher, not just a thrower, who can mix it up and get guys out without brute force.

Player: Mike Vaughn
Organization: Londinium Capitols
Service Time: 0 IP
Description: Vaughn was a starter in college, but when the Capitols drafted him, they wanted him to move to relief. They thought his two-pitch mix would play up in the bullpen. Vaughn disagreed strenuously and basically refused to adapt for the first year. He struggled to change over in year two, but things were clicking and he destroyed the TPL in year three. Here in year five, he's still trying to find his control and not get lazy against AAA hitters. Makeup issues have continued to dog him, so this is his last chance to prove he's got what it takes mentally to really embrace his new role and be a good teammate; if he can do that, he's got a chance in the bigs.

Player: Randy McGee
Organization: Aquae Sulis Trappers
Service Time: 6 IP
Description: McGee was a nothing-special starter when he graduated from university, but he glommed on to a chance from the Yeomen. He spent several years in A and AA, building a reputation as an innings-eater, but without much promise. When they released him three years ago, he worked with his old pitching coach, a former submariner, to learn the new arm angle and try to revitalize his career. He signed with the Trappers in the off-season and worked his way up to AAA, eventually earning a cup of coffee in the NABL last year. But there's always been skepticism of his stuff, and now, what some view as a gimmick in his arm angle. This is his last chance to prove he's not a gimmick and that he's got the special sauce to pitch in the majors.

Player: Caleb Lucas
Organization: Pons Aelius Mariners
Service Time: 26 IP
Description: When Lucas was drafted as a college senior, the hope was that he could be rushed to the big leagues and be a bullpen piece for years to come. Although he spent just a year in A, AA, and AAA each before joining the big league squad out of spring training, he got battered around in a dozen innings and spent the rest of the year in AAA. Last year, it was the same story. His 95 MPH fastball might be fast, but it doesn't fool big-league hitters, and he needs to work on his secondaries. This is his last chance to show he can live up to his potential and improve his pitch mix; if he doesn't, he's in danger of fading into obscurity.

Player: Trevor Campbell
Organization: Newfield Express
Service Time: 11 IP
Description: Campbell was a mid-round pick by the Express known for his hard cutter. As a college closer, he'd bored it in on lefties' hands and the velocity and movement was tough for righties to catch up to. In the pros, he's found that just as man cannot live by bread alone, a pitcher cannot live by one pitch alone. He's struggled to develop his curveball and changeup and his 11-inning cameo in the bigs last year was disappointing. This is his last chance to show he's learned a thing or two and can survive and thrive in a big-league bullpen.

Player: Ben Morton
Organization: Sept-Iles Bleus
Service Time: 15 IP
Description: Morton was drafted out of university, and features a strong three-pitch mix. He's moved through the minors fairly quickly, acquitting himself along the way. But Morton has social anxiety disorder, which has seriously affected his play as he's risen through the minors. It's not a Steve Blass situation by any means, he just has legitimate anxiety over performing on the mound and lots of people watching. It wrecked his last two cups of coffees with the Bleus. He's worked with psychologists, sports and otherwise, to manage it. This is his last chance to show he's mastered his demons and can handle himself on the mound; it's also his last year under contract with the Bleus, so it's his last chance to show he should get paiiid.

Player: Anthony Michael Dugger III (Trey)
Organization: Pons Aelius Mariners
Service Time: 112 AB
Description: Drafted as a rocket-armed catcher with a power bat, Dugger was seen as a high-ceiling pick when initially drafted by the Trappers. And while he led the Labrador League in homers with 26 in his first season, there were signs of his issues. He led the league in passed balls and finished third in strikeouts. He struggled to adjust to the TPL, and spent three years there launching bombs, but also whiffing a lot. His defense barely improved. The Trappers tried to convert him to first base, but he struggled there, and he didn't play well at DH. He insisted he was a catcher. He was released, and the Mariners took a chance on him. He's spent two years with their AAA affiliate, earning short call-ups each year. This is his last chance to prove he can stick at catcher and be a valuable piece on a major league roster, even if it's not as a starter.

Player: Jared McLaurin
Organization: Newfield Express
Service Time: 0 AB
Description: McLaurin was drafted in the late rounds, mostly as organizational filler, it seems. But he's become more than that in his four pro years. He's carried a .323 average through his minor league career, which, combined with his decent blocking and game-calling, has helped him progress all the way to AAA. They say there will always be a role on a big league roster for a switch or left-handed hitting backup catcher, and McLaurin aims to make the majors that way. The issue for him is not that he doesn't hit for power (career .392 SLG), but that he has trouble controlling the running game and his lack of prospect pedigree. Despite his relatively young age, this is his last chance to prove some team should take a chance on a guy from a no-name college with a below-average arm (or so the scouts would say).

Player: Colby Chadwick
Organization: Londinium Novas
Service Time: 24 AB
Description: Chadwick was considered one of the best defensive catchers coming out of college, but even then, evaluators knew his hit tool was limited. They didn't quite realize how limited. He has carried a career .216/.267/.308 slash line through the minors, and has one hit in his 24 big league at-bats. He does an incredible job limiting an opponent's running game, and he's a rock behind the plate, but he can't hit. If teams carried three catchers in the majors, he'd be a lock to make the roster as a defensive replacement or occasional starter, but they don't. This is his last chance to show that either a) he can actually hit now, or b) his defensive skills are just too good for any team to pass up.

Player: Mason Garvey
Organization: Mancunium Pilots
Service Time: 202 AB
Description: Garvey was a physical specimen coming out of college at 6'5, and his raw power and size were enough for an MLB team to take a flyer on him despite the right-right first baseman profile. He, of course, jumped at the chance. He spent three years in rookie ball and short-A, crushing batting practice home runs, but never quite seeming to tap into his in-game power. He was released, and came home at 250 pounds of muscle, having bulked up with the weight-training regimen down south. Signed by Mancunium, he hit 101 minor league homers in three years before getting a big-league audition last year. He hit 11 homers in his two hundred at-bats, but his average was just .218 and he showed noticeable platoon splits. That, combined with the right-right profile and below-average D, is a AAAA type of player. This is his last chance to prove he can hit right-handers, or just wreck lefties to the tune of a big-league job.

Player: Scott Neumann
Organization: Portus Abonae Millers
Service Time: 32 AB
Description: Neumann was originally drafted by the Yeomen, who liked the fact that he hit with power from both sides of the plate. He hit well in the Labrador and Twin Provinces League initially, and was the centerpiece of a trade for a veteran starter. But he hasn't lived up to his potential, whiffing a ton despite his power. Advanced metrics also aren't a big fan of him, citing his need to take more walks and the fact that his limited mobility at third costs his teams runs on defense. Neumann faces a tough road, needing to break through onto a veteran Millers team. This is his last chance to prove his power and arm outweigh his strikeouts and poor range, and that his switch-hitting profile belongs on a big-league club.

Player: Jean-Luc Desjardins
Organization: Sept-Iles Bleus
Service Time: 0 AB
Description: When drafted out of high school, scouts liked his big arm, great range, and bat-to-ball skills. He used a big leg kick to generate power, even as a relatively skinny kid, and relied on his great hand-eye coordination to catch up to pitches. He hit well in the Labrador League, but errors dogged him. In the TPL, he ran into pitchers with better fastballs and legit off-speed stuff, and struggled with strikeouts. The errors continued, and he got into his own head real bad, alternating between angry and despondent. He had to go back down to Labrador and repeated the TPL multiple times. He's bulked up and cut down on the leg kick to keep the power, and has worked hard on his fielding. But he's fallen from a top-7 prospect to barely on the radar for Sept-Iles. This is his last chance to prove he's not the same kid he was when he was drafted, that he's matured and become a complete player; he's still got the tools, he just needs a chance to use them.

Player: Bobby Faust
Organization: Isca Town Greens
Service Time: 0 AB
Description: Faust was a late round pick, almost assuredly because of his 5'6 stature. Even in baseball, height is still a discriminating factor. He does have obvious flaws, like a relatively weak arm and little to no power. He also has issues with particularly fast fastballs. But he does have obvious tools, or he wouldn't be on this team. He can hit for average, defend well, take a walk at the plate, and either steal or take the extra base on the basepaths. This is his last chance to prove a little 5'6 kid has what it takes to play in the bigs, and that his .310/.380/.390 slash line and defense will translate to the NABL.

Player: Mitch Webber
Organization: Eboracum Yeomen
Service Time: 38 AB
Description: When the Yeomen drafted Webber, they didn't pick him because he was a physical specimen like Garvey, though he is athletic. They liked his versatility, being able to play third or first, and his arm and speed made him a good defender. The question was whether he would hit enough to make it to the bigs. The answer, at least against right-handers, is yes. He sees the ball very well against righties, and typically slaps them around. The trouble is that he is nearly helpless against left-handers, which continued in his big league cup of coffee. This is his last chance to prove he's not just a platoon bat, that his whole game makes him a major leaguer, and that he can hit lefties just enough to be viable.

Player: Clement Pelletier
Organization: DC Brewers
Service Time: 0 AB
Description: Pelletier was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Capitols at first. Over his six year minor league career, he's spent time with the Capitols, the Trappers, and the Gunners before landing with the Brewers for his last two seasons. Why does Pelletier keep getting cut? Because he doesn't do anything particularly well. His hit tool is average, his power is nil, his speed is average, his arm is a tad below average, and his defense is average. Why does he keep getting a job? Because he can play just about anywhere and he can switch hit. There isn't much value in a .270/.310/.340 hitting starter, but a switch-hitting defensive replacement or a guy who can spell anyone on your roster has some value. This is his last chance to prove he's not just a gimmick, that his versatility on defense and okay bat makes him a weapon for the modern game.

Player: Hal Middleton
Organization: Vinovium Gunners
Service Time: 288 AB
Description: Middleton had one signature tool coming out of university: his arm. It was variously described as a rocket, cannon, or laser beam. Everyone agreed it was a special arm. What Middleton did not have was any particularly good other tools. He was a valuable enough defensive player to start him, and his offense eventually got better, though not great. In his minor league career, he's averaged 10-15 HR, 5-10 steals, and slashed .243/.329/.403, which is fair. But it hasn't been enough to convince any major league team to give him a full-time job. He's had short stints with three different NABL teams, but inevitably ends up back in the minors. This is truly his last chance to show he's worthy of a starting job, or even just a consistent bench outfield spot.

Player: Kelly Drayton
Organization: Londinium Novas
Service Time: 67 AB
Description: Drayton was drafted by the Brewers and spent two years in the organization before being included as a PTBNL in a trade with the Novas. Once there, he progressed through the ranks before his 67 AB audition last year, where he hit .269/.300/.328. The Novas like his speed and range, and he had a good average in the minors. But he hits for little to no power and his arm is poor, even for a center fielder. He could also stand to walk more. If he really wants to be a starter in the bigs, this is his last chance to show he can hit for average and even a little power, he can take walks, and that his arm is more than made up for by his range. If he just wants to stick on a big league roster, this is his last chance to demonstrate that at least one of his tools stands out from the crowd.

Player: Quentin Glazier
Organization: Mancunium Pilots
Service Time: 42 AB
Description: Glazier was originally a third-round pick by the Pilots out of university. They were tantalized by his power, and he'd showed good command of the strike zone as well. Unfortunately for him, he's been hobbled by injuries, causing him to miss about one-third of each season, usually. When he plays, he shows off his power and takes a good amount of walks. But the injuries and the holes in his swing have held him back. He hit 6 HR and struck out 18 times in his 42 AB cameo last year, both of which are incredible (70 HR and 215 strikeout pace over 500 AB). If he's going to stick on a big league roster, this is his last chance to prove he's not just boom or bust, but that he can stay healthy and contribute in other ways.

Player: Franklin Hurd
Organization: Londinium Capitols
Service Time: 94 AB
Description: Hurd was undrafted out of university, and signed with Sept-Iles. In the minors, he quickly became known for his spectacular defensive plays. But this didn't stop him from bouncing from team to team; the Capitols are his fourth in eight years. He defends well and manages some value on the basepaths and hitting for average. But his arm is weak, which limits his defensive value, and he's never hit more than five homers in a season. After a 94 AB cup of coffee with the Capitols, they've put him on notice that they consider him a depth piece only at this point. This is his last chance to either prove that his defense is too good to pass up, despite his other limitations, or to show the Capitols that his game has improved enough in other areas that he can stick at the big league level.

Why? This is a U-18 team, so unlike some nations who are probably here to win a tournament, team Cassadaigua is here to develop players. If we win, great. But the comparison for what we’re doing here is like MLB Spring Training.

So if I RP against you first, who do I pick?
Anybody. But have it make sense. Start players in their appropriate positions.

Are certain players considered better then others, at least?
Yes. Players higher on the list for each position are considered better.

What about starting pitchers?
Starting pitchers will not pitch more then five innings. Even if they have a perfect game going.

Isn’t your senior team all switch hitters? Why aren’t these people all switch hitters?
They have not fully established themselves hitting from the other side yet.

Why haven’t you included stats?

Last year, after over a hundred million dollars and eleven months spent on a series of referenda, Super-Llamaland has finally adopted a new flag: a horizontal tricolor. The flag referendum was part of neophyte President Nicholas Hansen's plans to "rebrand" a Llamanean Republic emerging from a decade of forced international isolation, and Hansen repeatedly emphasized the rebrand during his campaign.
While many have dismissed the flag referendum as a useless, bloated vanity project, there was still significant turnout, with millions of Llamaneans voting in the previous two referenda.

The entire process began just days after Hansen was narrowly voted into office over Talahita Governor Nicole Wu and former Kyrinson Congressman Linus Kennedy. The Conservative Party candidate stunned many by conceding disputes over healthcare funding in exchange for Congressional approval of his "Rebrand Initiative" plans, which included a flag referendum, a potential name change, and many other controversial ideas. A National Flag Review Board was created to judge thousands of flag suggestions from all corners of Super-Llamaland, and three months later, with the help of significant civilian voting, they had narrowed it down to ten flags.

From there, the first of three referenda was held, posing the question "Should Super-Llamaland replace its flag with any of the ten NFRB-approved designs?" The wording of the referendum was criticized for potentially allowing an unpopular design to replace the current flag if a narrow majority favored replacing it, and the referendum was even challenged in the Llamanean Supreme Court. However, the result stood, and a few days later, the white-green-blue tricolor had been excised by a six-point margin. A second referendum was held a month later, asking respondents to rank their top two flag choices from the NFRB list of ten potential flag designs. The methods were again controversial, and the margin even narrower than before, but two flags ultimately came out on top.

Eden Feliciano's "Llamanean Diamond" flag design, which the Vargas student called "a bold, clean, and modern flag for a Llamanean Republic that aspires to be a technological and environmental leader."

The first flag choice, submitted by University of Vargas college student Eden Feliciano, came in first during the second referendum, earning 33.5% of the first-choice votes. A bold blue-and-green diamond pattern, the design was arguably the most polarizing of the bunch - beloved by students, environmentalists, and the Llamanean avant-garde, but despised by the more conservative elements of Llamanean society.

Tonight, after a third referendum choosing between the final two designs, the polarization of Feliciano's diamond flag became its undoing. Instead, by a 59-41% vote, the nation overwhelmingly favored the safer of the two choices - a horizontal tricolor with stars in the middle, whose original design was submitted by Svenssonford schoolteacher Melissa Korhonen. Unfortunately, Korhonen could not be reached for comment.

With Super-Llamaland finally having chosen a new flag, Nicholas Hansen has successfully completed the first step of what he hopes will be a legacy-defining initiative. While the results have yet to be officially certified, Hansen declared victory in a speech as soon as results were released by the NFRB, claiming that the new flag "represents the best of what Super-Llamaland has to offer" and "marks a new chapter of Llamanean history that we may now write together." The process may have been unwieldy, controversial, and ultimately a massive waste of time and government resources, but it has finally delivered Super-Llamaland a new flag.

South Newlandia to participate in 11th International Baseball Slam

A year ago, South Newlandia signed up for the 48th World Baseball Classic. They were entirely unknown before that, and they signed up with only four pitchers. No one expected them to do well. Surprisingly, they managed to come in 2nd in their group, and travelled to Drawkland for the knockouts. They promptly lost all three games against Newmanistan in the Round of Sixteen, but even getting there was a fantastic achievement. Since then, a lot has happened in South Newlandian Baseball. Because of the success, there has been a lot of governmental funding recently, and Baseball in South Newlandia grew even more. Now, the team will send a U22-squad to compete in the International Baseball Slam, and the players hope to prove that the efforts were not in vain.

Adam King played well, but inconsistent, and he may be a dangerous force again. Many young players like Burn or Zimmerman are part of the team as well, and they are dangerously strong hitters too. The squad contains another notable player, as Sophia Smiths is playing on second base. She will be the first female player in the team. While sports were never segregated against anyone in South Newlandia, females are statistically less likely to play Baseball. Equal rights groups claim that only one female is still way too little in the starting players, while Maxbar says that players are in the team based on abilities only. If the team plays without a designated hitter, the pitcher will take spot nine.

The Elephant Stadium, located in the capital of South Newlandia, is the biggest and most well-known baseball stadium in South Newlandia. The entirety of South Newlandias home games was played here, and they won 12 of 15 games there, including sweeps against nations like Xanneria, Northwest Kalactin and the Equestrian States. They even beat Ko-oren in two of the three games here. At the time, the stadium had only 8000 seats, and it has been updated in the last year to host 15000 people now.

The game against the Malinadrid Mariners will be played here (Matchday 2).
The home of the Newport Dolphins will also get to host a series in their new built stadium. Newport, on the East Coast of the country, is one of the richer parts of the country. The stadium is all new, and directly adjacent to the port.

South Newlandia drawn into Group C of the International Baseball Slam

As the International Baseball Slam is soon to start, we will take a quick look at the South Newlandian group opponents, and discuss if South Newlandia has an easy group or not.
Like any team, South Newlandia will play 3 group opponents six times each, three times at home and three times away. To advance, a team needs to get second place, and the 4 best group winners will go the Quarterfinals right away. Generally, 24 teams are playing in six groups, in a mix of youth teams of experienced Baseball nations and teams entirely new to international baseball. In total, there are 11 teams associated with nations that participated in the last World Baseball Classic. Now, we want to take a look at the South Newlandia group opponents.

Mathuvan Union Moose

The Mathuvan Union, located in the region Old Zealand, seems to be new to international baseball and international sport in general. They aren’t unknown otherwise, and they seem to be taking their first steps in international sports here. We don’t know anything about their lineup at the moment, as they seem to be keeping it secret, but we like their flag. South Newlandia will face them at home on match day 1, and will visit them on matchday 4.

Falisiand U22s

Falisiand is a relatively young nation, even younger than South Newlandia. They are located in a region called Philosophy 115. We know that they have an active Baseball Legaue, the Falisiand Baseball Association, currently in the middle of their season. They will be playing their first international competition here, and they will participate, similar to South Newlandia, with a team of under 22-year-olds. They have announced their roster, and they seem to be the most interesting and maybe the hardest opponent. Their team is coached by Hayden Manuel, a 49 year-old high school coach. South Newlandia will face them at home on match day 6, and will visit them on match day 3 in the Howard E. Ulysses Stadium, a much bigger one than South Newlandia baseball arenas at 27649 seats.

Maniladrid Mariners

The Mariners, coming from Hispania y Filipinas, are another interesting team. They are located in Rushmore, a common region for nations with sporting history. They are, aside from South Newlandia, the only nation with international sporting experience. The country participated in a few International Basketball Championships, but that was several years ago. They seem to return from their hiatus now, but we don’t know anything about their roster at the moment. South Newlandia will play them at home on match day 2, and will visit them on matchday 5.

In total, one could say that South Newlandia has got a relatively easy group. They managed to avoid several very dangerous teams, like the youth teams of Cassadaigua or Newmanistan, and reaching the knockout rounds in Super-Llamaland should be possible. On the other hand, we don’t know a lot about the teams stepping up to the plate. They could always surprise us, and you should never underestimate an opponent.

Some baseball about to start,

If you a sports fan, there is still plenty of international sports going on even with the soccer team going home earlier then we would have liked in the World Cup. A lot of the attention will be on the upcoming World Bowl, as well as the closing races of NSSCRA for as long as Stacie Houston remains alive in the Chase. However, there is another tournament about to begin that might be worth checking out: International Baseball Slam 11.

This is actually a competition that began during our first tour of duty on the diamond, and has been idle for a very long time. It has been brought back in a new light, allowing nations to bring any sort of roster this being appealing for the nation to enter. For Team Cassadaigua, it has become about bringing juvenile players, something that was once seen in the now defunct Keisler Cup. Not everyone is bringing a group of kids to the competition, so it provides an interesting test for our young players. Will they be able to step up against older players when they face them, or will that be a little too much for them right now? We will have to wait and see, but I think this will be exciting to watch as some of the younger players get set to grab your attention. Another thing Cassadaigua is doing different is not just bringing a normal-sized baseball roster, but bringing a larger contingent of players so that more people can be evaluated over what will be an eighteen game group stage.

The team will be managed 43-year old Jennifer McDaniels in what will be her first tour of duty at the international level. Cassadagan fans are very familiar with Jennifer’s work managing in New Lakeland, where she is known to be a great finder of young talent in both the entry level draft and then plucking it out of other teams in finely tuned trades. This has made her widely regarded in the country as a genius when it comes to discovering youngsters, so it was no surprise that she was given this role. McDaniels assembled this roster with her scouting staff in New Lakeland, and believes that they are capable of impressing people. “When you are putting teenagers up against, potentially, older players, it is a tough challenge, but we have seen examples of it working on many different levels. The top teams, in the World Baseball Classic, are not bringing their superstars, it appears, but they will not necessarily be a young team like ours. Our prospects should be able to shine,” McDaniels said. Also, as for picking and choosing the lineups, Jennifer says they will be day to day decisions. “I don’t think you go into this tournament with a set pitching rotation and a set batting order. There is nothing wrong with that, but in doing that, you have already made your first decision in saying who is better then the others. Obviously, if you are not bringing a young team, then that sentence is irrelevant to you. For us, the evaluation comes first, and I think we will pass more often then not. The only negative in this is the need to rent more hotel rooms while on the road.”

The 24-team tournament is hosted by Super-Llamaland. Yes, you heard that right, Super-Llamaland! The nation has risen from the inactive and is ready to make a statement in international baseball once again! This is a great way for them to do that, and we know that senior team manager, Maddie Polanco, is thrilled about this. From her adopted home in Concord Heights, Polanco told reporters that, “It was so nice for me to go back to my real home, and I love seeing the commitment be back to international sports, especially baseball. I will certainly be taking in many of these games!”

Live from the studios of TSG TV we see anchors Angelo Mori and Sarah Ladle with a collage of the participating teams in the eleventh edition of the International Baseball Slam behind them.

Angelo Mori: Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to a special edition of 'Sports Today' in anticipation of the upcoming International Baseball Slam tournament.

Sarah Ladle: Yes, starting this coming Sunday we will see the group stage kick things off to see which teams will qualify for the playoffs held in Super-Llamaland and we are proud to follow our very own national team on their first big adventure.

Mori: Under the watchful eye of veteran coach Graham McCrory our team of hopefuls is trying to build on the success of the first season of the Tikariot Baseball League and compete internationally for the first time. I hear that we have Sean Callahan right in United Civil Republic City, where our team is expected any minute. Sean, how are things looking?

The picture fades in from the United Civil Republic, where the team of the Tikariot Thunderforge is just stepping out of the bus at the stadium, where they will meet the hosting United Civil Republic Bears. The players look around, some with some interest, others wide-eyed. The camera turns to show a reporter ready to go.

Sean Callahan: Thank you Angelo, welcome from the United Civil Republic! As you can see in the background, our team has just arrived at the stadium to take a first look at where they will be playing their first ever IBS game. Given that this team has never played an actual game together with this squad might spell disaster, but what better way to learn than to just jump into the river and learn to swim.

We cut to the logo of the Tikariot Baseball League before a compilation of brief interview spots starts to play with the names of the players and their team affiliations as inserts.

Foster Fleming - Avanaroch Nightwatch: It will be an interesting experience for all of us. We'll give it our best shot and we hope to be able to surprise people.

Michael Romanov - Tikariot Thunderforge: People call our team unpredictable and view it as a disadvantage, but look at it the other way around, too. Our opponents will not be able to face us prepared, so there lies our chance.

De'Andre Stevens - Baraldhur Behemoths: I know that our league is very young and a lot of our players are very inexperienced, but I think that a few of our older players, such as myself, can guide the youngsters and sometimes this mix can lead to players realize the potential they have in them.

The picture cuts back to Callahan.

Callahan: De'Andre points out a very interesting and valid point here. The team does have a few experienced players in their midst that have played internationally before, such as himself, Mike Romanov or Graham Pettersson, so if they will be able to get the rest of the team to form a tight-knit group, you never know what might be possible.

But right now I have manager Graham McCrory here, thank you Graham for taking a few minutes for us and our viewers back home.

Zooming out we see the Tikariotian national team manager standing next to Callahan, chewing on an unlit cigar, nodding in acknowledgement.

Callahan: Graham, this is the first real outing for this team that a lot of people have dubbed the Devil's Rejects as they don't think that they will stand a chance. How does that make you as manager feel?

McCrory chuckles.

Graham McCrory: Devil's Rejects, I like that. Well, I think that this level of expectation will actually help our players, because let's be honest, is there any way they could disappoint? Not really. So they don't really have any pressure to succeed. Unless they start knocking themselves out with their bats, but in that case we'd have bigger problems than worrying about a tournament.

Callahan (laughing): Definitely. Now you've played and coached in several different countries, how does the level of quality in the TBL compare to other leagues?

McCrory: We're obviously not 'there' yet. It's an uphill battle establishing a brandnew league in a sport that so far had barely been in existence in Tikariot. Football always has been and likely always will be the number one sport in Tikariot, so we're merely trying to carve out a little niche and I believe that running our season mostly during football's summer break definitely helps us. But to get back to your question, we do have some great quality within the league, we're just lacking consistency and overall consistently good teams and not just one break-out player or two.

Callahan: So how do you approach your first game against the Bears?

McCrory: Like any other game. Sure, some players will have some jitters, especially playing in front of a likely far bigger crowd, but you know what? Maybe they just need something to scare the bejeezus out of them to make them realize that this is not just kid's play, but that they've arrived in the big leagues. I've tried to study the Bears and see what they have to offer, but they haven't really been very 'out there', so it is hard to predict anything. My focus is on every player knowing what they have to do and try to realize that as good as they can.

Callahan: Several nations in the IBS are sending youth teams, do you view that these countries not giving this their fullest attention?

McCrory: Hard to say. This is the eleventh edition of the IBS, so it's not as if it's just a humpty dumpty backyard scratch. But if they feel that it's in their best interest to send the youngsters, so be it, I'm confident that I picked the best team I could out of our league.

Callahan: Do you think you'll be able to get through the group stage and to the final knock out rounds in Super-Llamaland?

McCrory: Hell if I knew. Right now everything feels a bit like trying to fly your helicopter in your living room, that Jovannic team is in a similar situation as we are, being brand new, Northwest Kalactin kinda as well, even though they're going with young-uns, so you never know where it'll all end up.

Callahan: Thanks Coach McCrory.

The camera recentres onto Callahan.

Callahan: Even though there are a lot of unknowns, you can feel this kind of electric atmosphere coming from the team, they want to show everyone that they are more than just cannonfodder. Can they go all the way? Unlikely, but you never know, sometimes just one win can work wonders. Back to you, folks.

Ladle: Thanks Sean. As coach McCrory pointed out, our team will be facing the Kalactin U21s, The Jovannic Emperors and the United Civil Republic Bears in the group stage and the only nation that has seen some success in the recent past has been Northwest Kalactin, however as mentioned, they are sending a U21 team, so that might even the odds.

Mori: We have been trying to get some more information about the Bears to give you a bit more of an in depth look at what the Thunderforge is going to face, but they have been extremely tight-lipped about anything, from their squad over any kind of information, so I guess they will have to just wing it and take it as it comes.

Ladle: TSG TV will be televising all games of the group stage live right here and with Sean over there we will also try to get you more news and reactions as they happen. A random Place is making its first and appearance in international sports. In A random Place, anything is decided by random luck. Every month, a random president is selected out of literally anyone in the country to decide everything. The people are aware of the obvious downsides, but never cared. The latest randomly decided President, a 13-year-old Baseball fan named Ijan Bais, decided (among several other, perhaps even more stupid things) that there would be a random squad of players entering the International Baseball Slam, just for fun. He also wanted to enter the 49th World Baseball Classic, but that was out of his jurisdiction because he wouldn’t be president then.

Spearman will try his best trying to prove that even entirely new players can play baseball.
