Just watched the trailer for Squadrons. It looks great, and I'm getting serious Wing Commander and X-Wing vibes. I really hope EA doesn't screw this up.

According to this:

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2020-06-20-star-wars-squadrons-doesnt-have-microtransactions-isnt-a-live-service-game#:~:text=Star%20Wars%3A%20Squadrons%20does%20not,service%20game%2C%20EA%20has%20said.&text=Speaking%20to%20Game%20Informer%2C%20Motive,great%20in%20its%20own%20right%22. there will be no microtransaction fuckery and the game will be a complete game upon launch. So it does seem like EA has not fucked this over, though it will probably not hurt to be a bit skeptical as it is EA.

I really really hope that all the initial reports will turn out to be true, but I don’t put it past EA to muck around and screw everything up at the last minute. The success of Fallen Order does give me more hope though.

I just realized something. Luke in TLJ claimed he traveled to Achto to get away from the galaxy and die there. Yet in TFA he seemingly left a map to his location. Does anyone have an answer on why someone who was trying to get away from the galaxy forever would leave a map to his location so people could find him?

I looked it up. From what I gather, he didn't leave it for people to follow so much as scattered it so they couldn't.

He didnt leave a map it was a map to the first jedi temple which he followed, others could follow it as well. The FO found most of the map in imperial archives somewhere but Lor San Tekka had the last piece in TFA and R2 also had a piece which is why he was in low power mode.

Kylo ren mentions it in TFA some point i believe that they found most of the map themselves, i think its when he is interrogating Rey.

I think in some of the original drafts it was Luke who left it himself but then in later drafts they changed it to one he found iirc

Does the movie outright say Luke made the map?

If he did, it’s probable he made it when he still believed in his Jedi Order since Ahch-To was an important Jedi world in the past. He probably wanted to study it or set up a temple there.

So the map to Ahch-To would already be around when he gave up on everything. Maybe he’s the reason it was fragmented.

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and I figured this was the best forum to share it in.

Why are so many people (IRL) convinced that Dooku is a violent humanocentrist? It quite literally goes against everything his character is. He's diplomatic, a man of honor and reason, a former Jedi, and he's effectively the leader of the Separatists, a group whose leaders are almost entirely made up of sentient non-humans. Obviously, Dooku was far from perfect, but he genuinely believed that he was doing the right thing by leaving the Jedi Order, and leading a movement to help countless systems escape Republic control. So why are so many writers and fans convinced that he's a violent humanocentrist who wanted to create what was essentially the Imperium of Man?

Dooku's portrayal in the Revenge of the Sith novelization makes him seem to be anthropocentric, with the end goal of restoring the old Sith Empire (which was very racist).

That's a fair point. I haven't gotten to reading that novelization yet, but I heard that it's really well written.

It is, but Dooku is not done justice by the book. The rest is fantastic.

To be fair, when is Dooku ever done justice by the writers? Man, I can't wait for the libraries in my area to open up again. Can't wait to check it out :)

I heard the latest book to star him is good, although I cannot confirm it myself.

It's an established belief here (for the most part) that if the Separatists hadn't been made so cartoonishly evil for the purposes of the movies, there would actually be a pretty solid case to be made that they were justified in their goals, and maybe even the outright good guys.

The Separatists definitely had good reason to want to leave the Republic. If it were not for the brilliant evil cunt known as Palpatine manipulating and using them their cause would be a pretty good one. Palpatine just ruins everything doesn't he?
