The Protectorate and Clanship of Mamasa
The standard flag of Mamasa, given to them by the Isolationist Imperial Regime and Protectorates of Dimoniquid.
A Brief Overview of the Clanship
The Protectorate and Clanship of Mamasa is a clanship and tribal conglomeration, with a small council and High Chief Herrick as their legislature. Located deep within the Delta Quadrant of the Milky Way, the Clanship occupy the solar system of Ma, consisting of five terrestrial planets, three gas giants, two asteroid belts, an exoplanet, and a binary star in the middle of it. Hailing from the smallest of seven moons, called Mameno II, orbiting a gas giant, named Mameno. The majority of the species live within arcologies, stemming deep underground and linking together through hyper train systems, while small tribes loyal to them are birthed, live and die in the hive vessels up above them in space.
With a small population of approximately one hundred million, the Dimonicae ruling bodies, along with the ruling Council, have placed population restrictions on them as they are capable of gestating high numbers of young, developing and maturing within months, and squandering the minimal resources they have. Most of the population live modest lives of hard work, mining precious resources in the asteroid belts, gas giants, and terrestrial worlds in the system for the local cluster. They have incredibly robust, efficient, and large production facilities on the neighbouring planets producing everything from simple toys to complex technologies. The Mamasa have incredible talents for understanding science and engineering, introducing many biomechanical technologies to the cluster, along with have a great knack for being to reverse engineer foreign technology very quickly; despite these talents, the group have been going a slight technological stunting, with many of the foremost scientists and engineers going missing shortly after delivering the technology to the Dimonicae.
The people of Mamasa care very little when it comes to standards of living, having very little material possessions, preferring to spiritually and intellectual enrich themselves, passing on their knowledge through the genetic looms that they use to genetically study their young for defects and abnormalities.
A Brief History of the Clanship
The Mamasa first emerged as a society only a thousand or so years ago, with a archaeological digs providing insight that tribes and clans had been roaming for around six thousand before that. The first tribes united under a leader they called the Herrick, after the person supposedly managed to tame a rather violent and large dinosaur like lizard, similar to a pterodactyl. Herrick is still a title used to this day for both the head of state and ceremonial purposes. As Mamasa culture promoted oral history and story telling, very little of what actually happened in those six thousand years actually remains today, only through fables and fairy tales that are spread by the tribal and clan elders. Most historians and researchers believe that these few events may have occurred, only far less dramatized. An example is the story of Vol, a young Massa that did not heed their parents warning of trailing too far from the tribal camp; Vok gets lost, witnesses a meteor shower, fights off a fire and rock monster that lands from a meteorite, and finds his way home, using it as an omen not to stray from the camp. Camp elders claim the story is over a hundred or so years old, and is a small tale about listening to your elders, while scientists managed to calculate that a meteor shower did pass over where the tribe camp supposedly stayed, along with traces of meteorite activity along the area.
The race developed space faring capability while attempting to flee volcanic activity, using their small flying vessels to make short jumps along the atmosphere before attempting to develop a craft that could break orbit and hypothesise that a colony that could live in geosynchronous orbit to avoid obliteration. The vessel used to achieve that was scrapped for parts a few years later, when new biotechnology was developed to help with computing power and navigational duties. After breaking new ground with the biotechnology, living metal, or regenerative metallic polymer alloy, each clan were quick to adopt it for different uses; some began to use it for production uses, some for scientific research, and a small group using it to develop weapons. The Great Immolation occurred after the Hak’to Clan developed new ballistic weaponry and armour, allowing them to seize huge amounts of land. Tribes began to flock for protection, offering their meagre resources in a growing population of nearly three billion. The subsequent conflict devastated the moon, destroying a huge amount of the survival surface and almost driving the race to extinction. After uniting in the sacred ‘Blue Place’, the remnants of the Mamasa United under a new Herrick, Va’Joa of Clan Ta’Rae, due to her peaceful actions in the war.
The next few hundred years consisted of rebuilding; new, self sufficient arcologies were designed, biomechanical technology that helped shape space travel was discovered, and the elders wrote a new religion, pushing for a simple life, with a focus on spiritual and intellectual enlightenment. Around three hundred years after the Great Immolation, the bustling nation had started to travel through their system, and established small colonies and outposts on several celestial bodies. It wasn’t until the incident known as the ‘Haze Catastrophe’ that Mamasa would be exposed to the outer universe; a rouge Dimonicae piracy vessel attacked several transport vessels from a gas mine, destroying them and alerting the presence of the Dimonici Isolationist Imperial Regime. After a rough first contact, the Dimonicae ambassador managed to introduce the Mamasa to the other Protectorates under Dimoniquids’ influence; the Confederacy of Barva, the Roaming Legion of Muun, and the Shaknor Alliance. It toom several trips, along with several surprisingly well timed incursions from unknown forces to have the latest High Chief Herrick, Ka’Vok of Clan Ta’Sho, to formly ask the Dimonici Isolationist Imperial Regime to become a Protectorate.
A Brief Geography of the Clanship
The Ma System is home to five terrestrial planets, all having inhospitable environments for Massa to live in, resulting in the need for contained arcologies, some become military outposts for neighbouring allies, while others become science research stations, helping reverse engineer new technologies found. A few have even become religious monasteries, helping those who travel far to achieve enlightment. The terrestrial planets are named, in order of closest to the binary stars, Sho, Vae, Met, Luk and Mek. Mek stands at the largest, with a ring around it formed from the collision of its two natural satellites. Sho, Met, and Mek are considered sister planets; all are fairly close together in terms of mass, size, and atmosphere composition, but the environments are very different. Sho is a water planet, with very little in terms a raw resources, but is considered to be the best for the monasteries due to its calm weather. Met is a rocky, barren planet, with very little flora and fauna to speak of, however is home to a variety of carnivorous and aggressive species that roam the lands. The final of the sisters is Mek, being the most mysterious as most attempts to send vessels there have ended in catastrophe, with one in twenty vessels returning. Luk is home to the advanced shipyards and weapons testing facilities; being the smallest and furthest away, permission was given to the Dimonicae ruling body to use it test and build ships and weapons in the defense of the system.
The three gas giants are considered to be solar triplets, similar to the sister planets described before. Mameno is the closest to the central stars, holding seven natural satellites in its orbit; the most important being Mameno II, home to the Mamasa. Samemo is the next, being the largest, with no satellites at all, but several rings around it from the remnants of what may have been its satellites. Samemo is the primary gas mining source, with the largest array of gasses available for collection. The last is Henamo, a relatively boring and uneventful gas giant with no satellites, and no rings around it. Primarily used for mining specific hydrogen fuel for the power cells of the Roaming Legion of Muun.
