Captain General Alexej Reitzik out as Chairman after inter-fighting within the Military Council stalls Association Agreement negotiations with UVN

Image

JUGAC, BAGGNAGIA – Captain General Alexej Reitzik has lost his position as the Chairman of the Military Council of Baggnagia. Members of the Military Council voted the Captain General out over a conflict within the Military Council itself. The conflict was over the Baggnagia–Union of Ventismarian Nations Association Agreement which was supposed to be signed tomorrow in Volokarn, North Rukonia. The Military Council argued that today’s approval numbers among Baggnagian citizens of the Association Agreement have shifted against the treaty. Yesterday it was 50.02% in favor of the treaty and 49.98% against it. The numbers were already nearly half against half. Today the margin has shifted in favor of the “against” camp. 51.26% of responds are against the Association Agreement. Military Council members and previous chairmen Lt. General Radoslav Meier and Divisional General Zbynek Fiala argued that Baggnagia can’t sign the treaty with such numbers. Captain General Alexej Reitzik dismissed the numbers and the Military Council’s insistence. He remained standing by his pro-UVN stance. For ignoring public polls and disobeying the Military Council of Baggnagia Captain General Alexej Reitzik was soon voted out as Chairman there and then. His immediate replacement became Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch who declared that Baggnagia is suspending negotiations on an Association Agreement with UVN for the time being and will not be signing the treaty tomorrow in Volokarn.

O-90 Along the Rezuan Boarder

Jamestown Despite the fear of Pax-20 looming over the country, Ophion's Federal Army began its annual military exercise along the Rezuan boarder with the Federal Air force. All told, 20,000 men are reported to be taking part in this years exercise. President Io partook in the exercise, and took the opportunity to lead a tank into a simulated attack against 'invaders' crossing over the boarder. "Continued preparedness and readiness is vital to maintaining our national security against the Monarchists and Communists," President Io told reporters after his joyride. During the remarks, the President condemned the "Rezuan monarchists and Sunrisian Imperalists" for endangering the world with their "reckless posturing".

President Io stated that due to the recklessness of Sunrisia "Pax-20 continues to ravage the world", and that "their military is a disease, spreading pain and suffering as it's claws spread." While members of the National Assembly did not rebuke the President's claims about foreign powers, they did criticize his behavior in the time of uncertainty as "un-needed" and a waste of government resources.

Daring Rescue Saves Passengers from Sinking Leisure Cruise, No Thanks to Crew

Image

AUSTRALANA—More than 600 passengers and crew members were saved today in a tense rescue operation when a cruise ship sank in a swell off the coast of southern Nueva Libera.

The M/V Corentia was plying its regular route between the southern port of Higüey and the capital of Sanfación when it was caught in a swell late last night off the shores of the city of Australana. The vessel quickly lost power, and began to flood through the lower decks as passengers were eating dinner in the main lounge. Unbeknownst to them, the captain, Alonso Moretti, and his officers were already preparing to make their exit—while leaving the passengers alone on board.

It became apparent to passengers that something was amiss when entertainment staff discovered crewmembers of the Corentia sending off half-empty lifeboats, full of other crew and their possessions. The vessel was built with enough lifeboats to carry all passengers and crew, but many of these boats were now gone, leaving the passengers stranded on board. In fact, the only reason Captain Moretti did not leave the ship with his crew was because he was pulled from his lifeboat by the ship's resident guitarist, Mario Prieto.

The entertainment staff were quick to find their way onto the now-deserted bridge, where they made contact via ship's radio with the Naval Prefecture base at Estación Australana. The Prefecture's commander, Prefecto Arturo Lopez, was quick to mount a massive search-and-rescue operation that involved all the station's helicopters and every available vessel at sea that night. The airlift itself lasted until dawn this morning, with 2 helicopters en route to and from the stricken vessel at any one time. The last passengers of the Corentia were delivered by a foreign fishing vessel at 05:49 A.M. to the Australana docks.

Today, Mario Prieto and his fellow entertainment staff are being hailed as heroes for coordinating the rescue aboard the doomed Corentia. The National Council has already sent its congratulations to both the entertainment staff and Prefecto Lopez, and condemned the actions of Captain Moretti and his crew. The crew and officers that escaped by lifeboat early on were picked up by Prefecture search-and-rescue boats in the wee hours of this morning, and are currently being detained. The whereabouts of Captain Alonso Moretti, however, are not known: at this time, it is believed that he slipped aboard one of the early helicopter flights and disappeared into the crowd of passengers. The PDI have issued a federal warrant for Alonso Moretti, on charges of criminal negligence.

Pamerava declares independence after Baggnagia halts Association Agreement negotiations with UVN

Image

Image

NEODVISNI, BAGGNAGIA – The Baggnagian Protection Army right now is fighting against a mix of treasonous defecting soldiers from the national armed forces and self-assembled local militia in the Baggnagian north-east. Specifically the regions around the city of Neodvisni. The city of Neodvisni notoriously played a significant role in the nation’s recent history during the North–South division. We have been broadcasting today’s events live the whole day but let us recap what has been happening in Baggnagia right now for those that might just be tuning in for one reason or another.

A newly assembled Senate in the city of Neodvisni, Baggnagia voted to declare the proclamation of a sovereign nation of Pamerava out of Baggnagian north-east with the capital city in Neodvisni itself. As a flag of Pamerava the separatists raised the flag of the short-lived nation of Baggnagia-Neodvisni that existed during the crisis that led to the division of Baggnagia into North, South and Baggnagia-Neodvisni. The short-lived Baggnagia-Neodvisni was soon annexed by the former North Baggnagia in its entirety while the city of Neodvisni remained the last stronghold and chose to join the former South Baggnagia. Thus it became an exclave of the former South Baggnagia.

After the vote for the sovereignty proclamation of Pamerava the Senate voted for the independence of Pamerava from Baggnagia. The Senate is led by none other than Dobrin Nóvak who was the first elected President of the former South Baggnagia and who currently is famously sick with RETRIT-20. And somehow the virus has kept him from being too ill to be one of the organizers of everything that’s happening right now. The Baggnagian military intelligence says that Nóvak is not acting alone in the organizational leadership of this affair. Another culprit partnering with him according to military intelligence is Alexander Lončár: Member of the Chamber of Deputies and Acting President of Baggnagia prior to division into three and later only two parts. Lončár too is suffering from a virus. He has PVAX-20. And the illness hasn’t kept him from participating in this whole affair either. Dobrin Nóvak is the current President or Chairman of the separatist Senate of sovereign Pamerava in Neodvisni. But he’s believed to be a protégé and Alexander Lončár is leading from behind as the older of the two. Lončár is also more ill so he can’t take the lead entirely. Both Nóvak and Lončár were previously moved to a hospital in Neodvisni prior to this entire sequence of events. Obviously the Military Council has removed the invitation to join the government that it had extended to Nóvak and Lončár earlier. They were in the list of twenty ill Baggnagian politicians honorably invited to join the government after they recover.

Known separatist leaders Dobrin Nóvak and Alexander Lončár are not just violating quarantine and endangering those around them but leading the tearing apart of the nation’s territory. All members of this Neodvisni Senate are still to be identified and information given to Baggnagian public sources. Vaguely the Senate has been described as consisting of local municipal government officials and random citizens in those north-eastern provinces. It’s not even clear how many of them have become virus victims or have been virus victims before forming this Senate.

The proclamation of a sovereign Pamerava and the declaration of independence from Baggnagia has been formally motivated by the Baggnagian Military Council’s backing out of an Association Agreement with the Union of Ventismarian Nations (UVN). There was large in-fighting within the Military Council over the issue and it ended up costing the pro-UVN Captain General Alexej Reitzik as Chairman and his replacement by Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch. Stay tuned for updates from north-eastern Baggnagia.

Sunrisian Naval Forces Move Closer To Ventismar Over The Situation In Baggnagia

National Quarantine

Active Cases: 12 (Being Treated)

Recovered: 13 (+5)

Image

The Department of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia has stated that the Sunrisian Naval Forces have moved some warships that have been patrolling in the international waters in the Lutentian Ocean, towards Ventismar. The repositioning of the warships has been done in relation to the escalated situation in Baggnagia, which is a country that Sunrisia had shared a military alliance with, had a number of military bases in and also a country which had its’ now-former Military Council Chairman speak with President Addél Dîlectên recently, on the topic of NGOs in Baggnagia and whether Sunrisia will further have the right to aid NGOs over there.

At the moment, Baggnagia is facing a state of a semi-civil war, as the north-east of the country was proclaimed a separate sovereign nation of Pamerava and its’ independence from Baggnagia was also declared. Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vîsár Inpétăs said that the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) has no specific objectives in that geographic direction right now, but the country is always prepared for a peacekeeping intervention on a diplomatic or military front, if not both simultaneously. Sunrisian position on the conflict has not been formally stated, leaving the assumption that the country retains a neutral stance, despite its’ fairly close relationship with the military government of Baggnagia.

Because of Baggnagia’s unfortunate position as one of the intense sources of the RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 pandemic, which is where Sunrisia also got its’ initial virus cases from, the Department of Security confirmed that the crews onboard the deployed warships are equipped with protective gear from the virus. However, as stated before, there are no declared objectives of deploying or landing on Baggnagian soil and no such agreements reached with the Baggnagian military government so far.

Baggnagian Alternavision representative Fénix contemplated dropping out of the contest over the new conflict in her nation, but decided to stay and perform

Image

JUGAC, BAGGNAGIA – Fénix (pseudonym of the artist that will represent Baggnagia in Alternavision) has expressed regret over the new conflict in her nation Baggnagia. For her it went to the point of wanting to abruptly drop out of Alternavision altogether even after everything had been already prepared for the performance. It would also be a debut for Baggnagia in any kind of an international song contest. But Fénix felt it was wrong to participate in what would almost be a celebration-like even when her own homeland was going through a difficult time. After giving it a lot of thought and receiving some advice from her team, friends, family, any associates and even Baggnagian military government officials Fénix decided to stay. She will perform in Alternavision. But even after confirming that she would Fénix wished for a return to piece as soon as possible. Right now the Baggnagian armed forces are still facing off against Pameravan separatists. This is the third day of the conflict. But on the side diplomacy is moving forward too. The Baggnagian Military Council and the Pameravan separatist leadership in a form of a Senate in Neodvisni are negotiating a cease-fire as an immediate halt to fighting. After the cease-fire is hopefully in place the sides can start diplomatically negotiating and debating a long-term solution.

Socialist government-in-exile blames Baggnagian Military Council for Pamerava conflict

KREISOW, ENGLEAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC – Socialist Government of Baggnagia in exile has (without shocking anybody) reacted to the current conflict in Baggnagia from Kreisow. It has accused the Military Council of Baggnagia of being the sole perpetrator of this confrontation and said that its false strategic policies, mismanagement, inter-instability, false promises and pretty much every other action had led to this situation. The mere existence of the military government itself was called out as one of the reasons for the conflict. Exiled government’s Prime Minister Vítezslav Mattner was the first big voice to speak out.

The fake junta holding power in Jugac thought it could keep the nation under control with its iron fist. Well it has only served an opposite purpose. The so recently reunified territory of Baggnagia is once again being cut into separate pieces in this conflict. We can’t entirely blame those trying to split away Pamerava as a sovereign state because they’re fleeing the junta’s tyranny. And they’re also acting out because the junta gave the people false promises it then abandoned. The junta promised people Ventismarian integration as a project that would actually benefit all the junta people and their individual interests. But on the Baggnagian citizens it had a different effect where they got the illusion that a plan was put in place and were ready for it. The junta and its inter-fights made it abandon this plan at the last minute so people were just confused. They were confused, not knowing what was being done to their nation and they were just tired of it. So now this energy of anger is resulting in an uprising and in another unfortunate collapse of our nation’s territory. If we as a legitimate government were in Jugac instead of the junta we wouldn’t have allowed this to happen.

The next one to say something was the exiled government’s President (Speaker) of the Chamber of Deputies Liavon Jakavienka II.

The Jugac junta is just illegal so it wouldn’t be appropriate for us to compare any policies we want to take and how we would run Baggnagia if we could get over to Jugac. The junta there is just acting out of whatever is in its interests at that moment. They tried playing the Ventismarian card because it worked for them at that moment. They wanted to hit back at us because we had and actually have a foreign policy plan of taking Baggnagia in the opposite direction. We want Baggnagia to be a founding member of an Eastern Bloc with like-minded nations whether Socialist or not. We are being honest with the electorate, we are consistent and we have a plan. The junta is just playing dangerous games that spill out into something like what’s happening now. It’s a disgrace and a crime.

Those following the Socialist Government of Baggnagia in exile won’t consider its position made and the final opinion established until the head of state in that exiled government gives her word. And that’s why Madam President Sylva Čérny gave her final word after her government’s closest affiliates.

If there’s a positive side to any of this then let us hope it would be this. Let us hope that it will open the eyes of the Baggnagians to what the junta in Jugac truly is, how lying and manipulative it is and how ineffective it is. The second part of that positive side is that this is hopefully a start of a people’s uprising in Baggnagia which will give us the opportunity to see the junta overthrown and for us to get back to Jugac. We have to reclaim power. We are the sole legal government of Baggnagia. Not the military junta.

Local Authorities Are Handling The Guerilla Problem In The South-Western Regions

The issue with guerillas active in the south-western regions remains to be handled by the local authorities. The police and even the military are involved but the anti-guerilla operations and action are overseen by local authorities. The central government of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai in Fortwel has not labeled the guerilla problem a national security problem so far and launch a subsequent operation to fight those guerillas. Not even the island government in Aurisi in Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai has taken over leadership in these efforts or launch any official localized operations. There are different opinions that exist on this issue. Union’s Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal is being looked to as a figure that might bring the central government’s attention to the guerilla problem and encourage a central government action. He is a native to Vesvai island after all so the issue is not far from relevancy for the Prime Minister. Besides he has spoken about it before but since taking the Union PM’s position he has avoided being so outspoken. PM motivated this by his responsibility to only speak when there’s a consolidated government position and to avoid personal opinions like he used to have. But still the Prime Minister’s background as a Vesvaian makes hopes for a central government response to be turned to him as a second most influential voice in the nation after President Russel Kelpir who’s Oblarenite. The origins of the guerillas from abroad and involvement of foreign supporters would make this a national security issue for the Union and warrant a central government response. But there’s also a chance this might be domestic terrorism. Or a mix of both. Whatever the case it seems that for now the municipalities, regional governments and local authorities are deemed to be qualified enough to handle the guerilla problem in their areas with the help of police and military. No central government intervenetion needed.

Baggnagian Military Council and Pameravan separatists agree on a cease-fire at the end of the fifth day of conflict

Image

NORTH-EASTERN DEMARCATION LINE, BAGGNAGIA – The Military Council of Baggnagia and the separatist leadership of Pamerava led by the Senate in Neodvisni have agreed on a cease-fire. It was a verbal agreement reached as the fifth day of the conflict between the Baggnagian Protection Army and the Pameravan separatist fighters with military defectors on their side. A phone conversation was organized between Baggnagian Military Council Chairman Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch and President-Chairman of the Pameravan separatist Senate in Neodvisni Dobrin Nóvak. They agreed on an immediate and unconditional cease-fire. The best but at the same time worst (depending on who you ask) thing about this agreement is that there has not been a specific timeframe or duration given for this cessation of fighting. It will not be twenty four hours, forty eight hours, seventy two hours, a week, a month or any specific duration. The sides have simply agreed on a cease-fire and that was it. That’s reassuring if you take it as a sign that the sides see this as a pointless fight and both want to stop it all-together before escalation. The not so reassuring part is that the lack of a specific timeframe or duration means that the cease-fire could collapse at any minute and the fighting could resume.

Baggnagian Military Council reassures that the sides have agreed to end the armed confrontation entirely and move on with a diplomatic handling of the crisis from here on. Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch said with confidence that the separatists share this sentiment without a doubt given the size of their territory, resources, manpower and overall power compared to the Baggnagian armed forces. If the separatists tried to restart the fight and violate the cease-fire the Baggnagian Protection Army could most definitely win the fight if it used its full force and take back full control of territory under separatist control. But that is not the approach that the Military Council says it wants to take. Even if it has a chance to win it wants to try diplomacy. Military Council Chairman Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch said he was pushed into a cease-fire deal with the separatists by his predecessors and current Military Council members: Lt. General Radoslav Meier and Divisional General Zbynek Fiala.

During the armed conflict the Pameravan separatists have failed to push the western border of the separatist-controlled territories westwards into Baggnagia. On the contrary the Baggnagian Protection Army managed to push a bit more into separatist Pamerava and retake a little bit of land before the sides finally negotiated and agreed on a cease-fire. From this point the sides will probably have to meet in person and hold some talks or sign some treaties to establish a stable peace after a five-day war basically.

Attack on Air Field Repelled, Sunrisian Carrier Attacked

Imperial News

Dana Hawthorne

Tensions in the Isles of Soril ignite into a full blow conflict today. Yesterday, the Strategic Military Intelligence Agency (SMI) intercepted an eerie transmission. The Sunrisian military had ordered one of its carriers and its escort group to sail within striking distance of Bechett Airfield to eliminate Princess Christina Everen and her air wing. Destroying the airfield was the "secondary objective", since killing the princess and her unit would prove more beneficial in the long run. As the transmission said, the Winged Lilies would not be so easily replaced as a mere building. The added benefit would be to eliminate the pilots being trained by the Winged Lilies as well, slowing the replacement process even more. The Sunrisians were ordered to send an attack drone to do the attack, having the fleet's missiles and anti-air capabilities as firepower if needed.

In response to this threat, Princess Christina ordered all aircraft to be placed on high alert an hour before the strike would occur. Four Rezuan patrol ships and three destroyers left port to engage the Sunrisians with orders to target and if possible sink their carrier once the drone was destroyed. They sailed in a simple patrol pattern, slowly sailing their way into striking range of the Sunrisians. Princess Christina split her unit, sending the majority of her pilots to engage the Sunrisian carrier and its aircraft. At this time, the exact number of planes remains classified. Then, the princess led the new pilots into the skies, flying over the strike altitude of an attack drone. Once spotted, the princess and her students dove down on the drone, attacking it from above. The drone was reportedly shot down by one of the new pilots with a short-range missile.

Meanwhile, the Rezuan assault fleet got into position, opening fire with anti-ship missiles, targeting the Sunrisian carrier. At the same time, the Winged Lilies swooped down on the fleet, attacking the carrier as well. Reports say that four Sunrisian pilots were killed before they could get airborne to assist the Sunrisans already in the air. Within a two minute window, the Rezuan fleet disengaged. The Winged Lilies also pulled away. At this time, the exact damaged to the carrier is unknown but it is reported to be "severely crippled". Additionally, a Sunrisian destroyer was struck, possibly removing it from active service. In this exchange, a patrol ship was damaged and two members of the Winged Lilies were killed. Air wings that assisted in the attack also took loses, with a total of seven Rezuan planes destroyed. Thankfully, four of the pilots were able to escape their destroyed craft. One Kestrel was struck by an enemy but was able to fly home damaged.

Sorry Buddy, Ventismar is Closed Today
Eastern Breeze
Alec Goshling

In response to Sunrisia's launch of warships towards Baggnagia, a Rezaun fleet has been sent to turn them away. Parliament has stated that since Sunrisia is in direct armed conflict with the Rezuan Empire, there will be no tolerance of Sunrisian power projection. The fleet has orders to not allow the Sunrisians to pass and has been given orders to defend itself if fired upon without appealing to higher-ups for permission to fire. Ship captains are being trusted to use discretion. Reporters are also present on the ships, ready to capture proof of Sunrisian aggression should they open fire.

Parliament has addressed this show of force as a necessary precaution for protecting the lives of Rezuans and other Ventismarians. Allowing a hostile power to get comfy next to the mainland would be foolish to do. Parliament is worried that even if Sunrisia were to focus only on Baggnagia, it would still put warships within striking distance of major cities, even the capital. Rezua's allies in the region have been called to stand with the Rezuan fleet, not allowing a hostile nation to have the power to harass a member of the Union of the Ventismarian Nations with impunity.

Io Gets Snappy
Sword and Stars News
Brenda Miller

In a move surprising no one, President Io of Ophioneus has condemned the conflict between Sunrisia and Rezua, blaming both sides. This condemn nation comes as Ophioneus parades twenty thousand troops along the Rezuan-Ophioneus border, preparing to protect against "invaders". The irony of the situation might be lost on some, but not upon Rezuan government and military leaders. For those unaware, President Io is more well known as General Io in Rezua. Nearly five years ago, Io played a critical role in leading a beach invasion of Rezua in the Summer War. Io is speculated to also be the man who gave the order to attack Rezua once troops had been pulled from the border in a gesture of good faith towards Ophioneus' predecessor state: the United Soviet Jason Republic.

Senator Arthur Million of the Sword and Stars party stated, "Of course Io is upset. Whenever we fight back against an attacker he's anger. And why wouldn't he? Afterall, he is an enemy of our people, he attacked us only five years ago. Io is a want-to-be conqueror and is merely looking to make us weaker because he feels threatened by how quickly our nation snapped back from such a cowardly invasion. To him I say: we will defend ourselves from all attacks to ensure the safety of our people. Maybe he should stop trying to antagonize us and have a conversion with us."

This morning, a detachment of Rezuan troops has been sent to the Ophioneus border while Ophioneus plays its wargames. Rezuan allies are invited to attend as observers or participants in a series of drills to prepare for "invaders". Parliament has strongly recommended that Ophioneus removes the presence of so many troops as quickly as possible after the wargames are over.

Military Rushes An Evacuation Operation Of Struck Carrier Crew: SDF Does Not Reveal The Nature Of Future Retaliatory Action Against The Enemy

National Quarantine

Active Cases: 12 (Being Treated)

Recovered: 13

Image

The Sunrisian Naval Forces have assembled and rushed forward an evacuation of crew members from the Sunrisian carrier that was struck by the Rezuans. With time not being on our country’s side in this situation, soon the entire military had to get involved and not just the navy. The Sunrisian Air Force and the Sunrisian Army joined the evacuation effort with everything that they had in their disposal. The army engaged, first and foremost, the Rapid Reaction Units (RRU), naturally because of the speed of their deployment, which was also the purpose of their initial formation. The sunken carrier and the destroyed accompanying drone were declared a “material loss”, but lives have not been.

Minister of Security of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Vîsár Inpétăs stated that the Rezuan estimates of 4 Sunrisians being killed in this whole ordeal are false, because those officers have been injured, but fortunately have not died. They have been evacuated in this ongoing extraction effort and taken to military hospitals or emergency medical care centers set up on field by the military. Minister Inpétăs also said that there was no plot to assassinate a member of Rezua’s monarchy Christina and that it was all fabricated information. However, following this attack, the Minister went into a brutally honest direction and said that the Sunrisian state would not be above taking out members of the enemy country’s leadership.

Some military commanders of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) had addressed questions regarding retaliation, but have not specified what would happen, if it would happen at all or if it were not to happen. It has been left ambiguous. Esécăs Abstántâ, Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, had no comment at this point over “lack of anything diplomatic to say.” Meanwhile, in Sunrisia itself, the reputation of President Addél Dîlectên, his administration, and also the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, have been plummeting further over citizen criticism of the government’s failures to bring back the 29 Sunrisian navy officers still in Rezuan captivity. Along with the boiling anti-Rezuan outcry, the anti-government outcry has also been increasing over lack of success in the prisoner return direction. Due to National Quarantine, the citizen backlash has not been pouring out into the streets as of late, but there are signs that citizens may soon start disregarding that if the tipping point is reached.

In other news:

  • Minister of International Relations Vénî Adsécĕr: “A cease-fire in Baggnagia is what we wanted to see, so now that it has happened, our navy does not have objectives over there. Basically, certain countries confronting our ships over there for alternative strategic reasons, are wasting their time, because this move was not about them. Admittedly, we would be pulling away with more confidence, if we knew that the cease-fire ordeal was permanent and that the Baggnagian Military Council and the Pameravan separatists have reached a lasting peace or at least an armistice. Right now, the cease-fire appears to be a vocal one, but it needs to be cemented. Out of the parties involved, we only have true communication with the Military Council of Baggnagia, so we expect that we will be kept updated on the situation.

  • Entertainment News: Svésâs Ârmiá (Army of Light) drop a new surprise single – “Tenebris”, which was secretly recorded and a music video for it filmed, prior to the band’s departure to the Alternavision Song Contest. Meanwhile, neo-retro duo LG-AG releases – “Licentia.”

Union Troops Find Land Mines Set Up By Guerillas

Image

Locally stationed units of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai Armed Forces have summoned the demining crews to the field. These crews are tasked with removing large numbers of land mines set up indefinitely by the guerillas active in the south-western regions of the Union on Vesvai Island. These land mines are dangerous not just for the military but also civilians. They have been set up in rural roads where the Union military trucks have been doing a lot of patrolling. But these mines have also been uncovered in roads used by the civilian public.

Union military commanders on the spot said these areas would be isolated visibly with signs and with the presence of large crews around them. This is to show to the public which roads to avoid. The army said that these land mines were another proof that guerillas were not any sort of freedom fighters like they’re painting themselves to be but simply terrorists ready to kill innocent civilian too with land mines. The plain hooliganism and criminal activity with high-jacking police vehicles and blowing up statues were already proof of this. But land mines are more proof if not the final amount of proof you need that the guerillas are just terrorists. It was pointed out how the guerilla usage of land mines points more fingers at their links to New Vesvai as their supporter because New Vesvai is also a notorious lover of using land mines. They have covered their side of the border between the Union and New Vesvai in land mines.

The Armed Forces of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai will still not be intimidated by land mines and will resume their hunt for guerillas on land too. On foot and by land vehicles like humvees and other trucks. Just like citizens the troops will simply be aware of which roads to avoid and where more land mines have been uncovered. Doing the majority of guerilla hunting from helicopters is strategically more dangerous because it makes the troops an easier target for being fired at by guerillas from the ground.

Baggnagian Military Council and Pameravan separatists sign a cease-fire document

Image

NORTH-EASTERN DEMARCATION LINE, BAGGNAGIA – Chairman of the Military Council of Baggnagia Lt. Colonel Juraj Pietsch and President of the Senate of Pamerava Dobrin Nóvak have signed a cease-fire document. This cease-fire agreement was signed at the demarcation line between Baggnagia and separatist Pamerava entity. Because of the pandemic in Baggnagia (Pamerava included) the signing ceremony was very sterile. Masks, gloves, disinfection liquid, distance, individual pens and all other safety measures were applied and agreed on. The whole procedure and its conditions were similar to the meetings and past treaty signings by leaderships of the former North and South Baggnagia. Lt. General Radoslav Meier and Divisional General Zbynek Fiala even said that this has given them both a sense of Déjà Vu given their roles in those past events.

The cease-fire document enforces an end to armed hostilities on both sides. But it does not offer Baggnagian recognition to the independence of Pamerava. But given similar instances like this around the world the Military Council believes that the Pameravan separatist leadership will act like it wants without needing Baggnagian recognition. Still the cease-fire will be supported and the Baggnagian Military Council has excluded using military action to take back control of territories held by Pamerava. This decision was made because of an inter-Council debate and because of advice from abroad (Sunrisia). But the Baggnagian Military Council doesn’t say it will not use political means to restore the legal borders of the Baggnagian state with the inclusion of Pamerava. Citizens living on Pameravan-controlled territory are still Baggnagian citizens and will be treated as such.

Armed Forces Activated as Defensive Response Measure
By: Freyja Massen

Just this morning, the Royal Armed Forces of Eikangaard began the process of mobilizing our troops at home as a response to the outbreak of war between the Constitutional Empire of Rezua and the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. The navy in particular will commence more active patrols of the nation's territorial waters to deter possible violence. Additionally, the Air Force will be stepping up its patrols of maritime regions, and the Army will be brought up to Deployment Readiness.

While it is fairly concerning that the military is being put what amounts to a partial wartime readiness, the highest level of deployment since Reunification in 1994, it's equally important to note that this move is not aggressive in nature. After all, last week Parliament voted in favor of remaining neutral in the conflict and outside the scope of the war. While Eikangaard maintains some relations with both nations, it has no particular entanglements which could draw it into the conflict.

Speaking on behalf of the Department of Defense, Minister Sjan stated in a recent press briefing: "We have instructed the armed forces to act in whatever capacity they see fit to maintain Eikan neutrality and maritime sovereignty. Effective immediately, the 2nd Fleet will be placed on patrol, and no Rezuan or Sunrisian military vessel will be permitted within Eikan Territorial Waters. Considering the circumstances by which this conflict began, all staff officers operating on Eikan military vessels are under strict orders to act only in self-defense. They are to escort Rezuan or Sunrisian vessels out of the Eikgan EEZ, and alert other military assets should these vessels fail to comply.

Additionally, the First Army will be placed on active duty footing and has been instructed to enact defensive measures aimed at preventing an attack on the Eikan mainland in support of the Eikan Air Force. Additionally, they will be instructed to respond quickly to any potential landing of hostile forces on Eikan soil.

It could come as a shock to some foreign readers to note the level of deployment happening in Eikangaard, considering the circumstances. However, this is also a time when two military heavyweights are starting to throw hands. The Department of Defense does not take such matters lightly. It is likely that the military will have more to say regarding their recent deployments in the coming days, but for now, we will have to accept that the world has become a much more chaotic and uncertain place.
RETRIT/PVAX-20 Cases Pop-Up in Nentergaad
By: Joerg Sprave

Recently, Nentergaad General Hospital has reported multiple checking in to the hospital have tested positive for the twin viruses of RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20. While the number is low, health officials from the hospital believe that it's likely that the virus is already spreading throughout the city's population. Already, many on social media have been pinning the blame on the Central Government for its slow response to the spreading virus. Some have stated that the lack of lockdown or medical screening for people coming into the country was due to nebulous "economic" or "political retributions" that could be imposed on Eikangaard.

However, with public outcry rapidly mounting, the Government seems to be reacting quickly to combat the virus. Over the coming days, public screening at ports, airports, and border checkpoints will be set up, and a mandatory 19-day quarantine period will be imposed on anyone entering the country. Additionally, public testing areas will be set up in all major Eikan cities within the next few weeks. Comprehensive tracking of infected citizens is also under consideration, but the MInister of Public Health has admitted that they would need more data before implementing such a system.

Citizens are encouraged to practice social distancing measures, commence wearing masks, and to respect proper hand-washing procedures. Businesses and public spaces are expected to shut down during the coming days in order to help lessen the spread of the virus. The Minister of Public Health stated that following government-recommended guidelines would help lessen the long-term impacts of the virus.

Union Military’s Helicopter Comes Under Guerilla Attack, Fights Off Attackers

Image

A helicopter of the Armed Forces of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai has come under attack tonight in one of the south-western regions of Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. It came under rifle fire while scouting over a forest on a reconnaissance mission. The crew on board was looking for guerillas. The fire was suspected to have come from those same guerillas they were looking for. The troops and the pilot said that they just suddenly started to be fired at out of nowhere. It was pitch black and the crew was wearing night-vision goggles the entire time during their search. And even these night-vision goggles didn’t allow the troops to determine where the shooting was coming from. The troops said they felt like they were being fired by a completely invisible enemy or even by the forest itself. The camouflage and hiding skills of the guerillas should never be underestimated as was concluded by the armed forces.

The pilot’s instinct was to land because the bullets had hit the windshield. But the crew members in the back convinced the pilot not to do so. For the longest time the pilot was just circling above the area where the fire was coming from. The crew members were firing in the direction of where they were being shot at. They didn’t see what they were hitting or if they were hitting anything at all. The troops used a mounted machine gun at the helicopter and weapons they brought with them like rifles and even bazookas in some cases. The military personnel determined that they were being shot at by rifles only but couldn’t determine what caliber. Because the enemy was invisible there was a possibility they may have rocket launchers or anti-aircraft weapons with them. That was another trigger that made the pilot want to land so that the crew could take on the aggressor in the field battle with better cover.

But at one point when the enemy fire intensified the pilot resorted to what he also wanted to avoid because of the wake of destruction it could cause. But the pilot defended his actions as having been out of options at that point. Because it was an attack helicopter the pilot started firing bullets and missiles at land. This stopped the enemy attacks. The crew still couldn’t determine if this happened because the attackers were scared off or actually killed in this counter-attack. That information is still unknown because nobody had yet been sent back to search that location. But what happened due to the helicopter counter-attack was that the forest caught fire. The crew immediately contacted the authorities of the closest city and asked them to send an emergency response team with firefighter aircraft before the forest fire could spread. The military helicopter went back to base. After it landed the troops examined the damage and saw the helicopter covered in bullet holes. The guerillas were good shooters but luckily the pilot and the crew came out unharmed.

Another Sunrisian–Rezuan Naval Battle Escalates In The Lutentian Ocean

National Quarantine

Active Cases: 12 (Being Treated)

Recovered: 13

LIVE BROADCAST

Image

The Lutentan Ocean is being ravaged by yet another battle between the navies of Sunrisia and Rezua. Witnesses observing this confrontation live, describe it as “slow-burn” and “stalemate”, but no less frightening to watch because of fire and explosive sounds. The clash is happening shortly after a Sunrisian carrier was struck and sunken by a Rezuan attack, which prompted the Sunrisian Military to help evacuate the crew. The commanders of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) did confirm nor deny if there would be a retaliation, but many suspected that it would happen, it is just that the military command did not want to get into the details of it. It is hard to say if this current confrontation is part of that Sunrisian retaliation or if this is a coincidental natural progression of the conflict and just another round of this de facto war. There has been no word about it from the Sunrisian government nor the armed forces.

While taking on the Rezuan forces, the Sunrisian Naval Forces are remaining cautious of the navies of Talvistova and the Englean Kaiserreich in the area, which is why reinforcements are “keeping their engines running.” Rhodevus also spoke earlier about being ready to engage Sunrisian warships to keep them out of their part of the world, where most confrontations in this de facto war between Sunrisia and Rezua have been taking place – the Northwestern Hemisphere, as it is being called here in the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia. Unless there was a translation mistake, that was the interpreted Rhodeve intention, which is why the Sunrisian Naval Forces are keeping a lookout for Talvistovan, Englean and Rhodeve navies, while engaging the navy of Rezua in this current fight.

Back in Sunrisia, the citizen sentiment against the previously described countries is overstepping boundaries into xenophobic territory, while the backlash against the Sunrisian government is also boiling for failing to return the abducted navy officers home from enemy captivity. The citizens are attacking the administration of the President, the Convet of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and in some instances, even the Superior Court of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, as a branch of the government that is not speaking out. As said in previous reports, citizen anger could pour out into the streets soon and that would be a dangerous risk during an ongoing National Quarantine. So the government must give into the citizens’ demands, but so far, nobody has spoken out from the top officials most recently, including the President, who is getting a lot of backlash, uncharacteristic to our calm citizens and in a country, where meditation is part of culture.

Wildfires in Ayá Captaincy Reach Early Peak in Hottest Summer on Record

Image

CIUDAD DE AYÁ—Fires in the brushlands of northern Ayá captaincy have consumed more acres of land than usual this time of year, as temperatures reach record highs across the country and rain stubbornly refuses to fall.

Nearly 10,000 acres of grassland and forest have been consumed by fire already, with multiple large cattle ranches being devastated by the flames. Only 1500 people have been evacuated, but this number is expected to rise as multiple fires churn their way across the eastern part of the captaincy towards the west, where the larger settlements lie. Already, Ciudad de Ayá's horizons are already stained with ominous smoke trails. A further 20,000 people remain on evacuation notice as of this morning, waiting in limbo. The largest fire, the Terrazas, is currently spreading at a dramatic 800 acres an hour towards the southwest thanks to winds.

The largest factor in these massive blowups so early in the season has been the weather. The spring across northern Nueva Libera has been one of the driest and hottest on record, being beaten only by the drought years of 1896 and 1910. An early, rainy start to the season promoted lots of growth of grasses and undergrowth, but once the dry spell set in, these plants began to die in droves. Large swathes of Ayá resemble massive piles of straw. The Chief Lieutenant for Fire and Emergency Services in Ayá, Felipe Torres, describes the situation as

...[being] absolutely perfect for fires right now. I can't think of a time since 1910 where we've had this combination of the perfect elements to create terrible fires. I'm sure most people know that fire needs a "triangle" of elements to be started. It's a balance between existing heat, oxygen, and fuel. Right now, we have record-hot temperatures, which is providing more than enough heat. Then you've got the fuel—I mean, just look outside my office. Even the plants in the garden are dead, because we have to conserve water. All our reserves are drying up. We might have to start flying in water by plane from neighboring captaincies. That's not even factoring in how little water the brush and forests have gotten. Then, the last part of the triangle is the oxygen. Right now, we've got the early summer winds which clock through here very quickly. Usually, those just bring cooler air from the north and give this region a wonderful June and early July. In a normal year, this wind wouldn't matter much to the firefighting effort, since usually nothing massive has started burning yet. Throw in the other two components like I mentioned earlier, though, and now... now you have this.*

Another factor leading to the unprecedented growth of fires has been the chronic under-equipping and under-funding of the local fire services, which have been strapped for cash for the last two years as the local government attempts to recover from a massive local deficit. As a result, local fire stations and rescue services have been unable to perform prescribed burns and other preventative measures in many areas, as they would in other years. This problem becomes worse as the fire season goes on, with the captaincy government having already spent half of its ₱3 billion yearly budget on fighting fires this summer. Many neighboring regions have contributed their own "hotshot" crews and the federal government has put forth the use of its "bomberos paracaidistas:" crack teams of parachutists who deploy by air into otherwise-inaccessible regions of the wilderness, commonly referred to as "smokejumpers" in English. These teams have contributed much to the firefighting effort, but even still, it is feared that the fires will continue to rage throughout the summer and into the fall.

The fires in Ayá have already claimed the lives of three firefighters: two jumpers who were engulfed in flame when winds changed direction, and one who fell to his death from a cliff in low visibility. Their losses are being mourned already, and many across the country fear more will perish before this season is out.

*This interview was originally conducted in Torres' native Spanish, but his personal staff worked with La Voz reporters to determine a faithful English translation for his statement.

Opposition Slams Premier Over Lack of RETRIT/PVAX-20 Response
By: Gloria Steffansen

Drama flared in the House of Commons today, as the Premier came under fire from the opposition coalition over the lack of response to RETRIT/PVAX-20. Opposition Leader Tina Averden of the National Labor Party fired off a number of pointed questions at Premier Albert Madsen, though most touched on the lack of preparedness for the twin virus' arrival in Eikangaard. This most notably centered on the lack of screening at the borders, ports and airports. She also noted the hesitancy at enacting lockdown measures for Nentergaad, despite recommendations from the Director of Public Health to do so, until more proper control measures could be enacted in order to limit the spread.

For his part, the Premier seemed hesitant to answer these questions, routinely deflecting the questions and repeating a line of "doing the best for the people of Eikangaard." However, considering the outcry from the opposition coalition and on online forums, it seems that Premier Madsen's "answers" were not well received. Especially considering how current cases have ballooned from the original 12 reported three days ago, to 46 cases today.

"Why won't the Premier answer basic questions about these viruses?" Asked Ms.Averden after repeated stonewalling by the Premier. "We knew about this virus nearly a month ago. We knew it could spread quickly. Eikangaard has an Infectious Virus Response Team. Why were they not deployed, even after the first cases were reported? Why have they still not been deployed? Why were screening services set up at entry points to the country, to prevent this from happening in the first place? Why do we still not have any action, despite the government having promised decisive action three days ago?"

Once again the Premier deflected questions, but stated that his administration would be "monitoring the situation closely to create an appropriate response." As of now, what form said response would take is, for the most part, unknown. If previous statements are to be believed, it's likely that we will see some kind of large-scale testing, however it seems that the government is unwilling to pull l the trigger on that. It's entirely possible that we will be seeing little government response.

RETRIT/PVAX-20 Tracker
Cases (Confirmed/Probable): 46/Unknown
Deaths: 0
Recoveries: 0

Secretary Of Foreign Affairs Aart Teuling Reaches Out To Sunrisian Colleagues Over The Current Situation In The Lutentian Ocean

West Zilveren Secretary of Foreign Affairs Aart Teuling has reached out to his colleagues in the Sunrisian Department of International Relations over the military situation in the Lutentian Ocean. The Secretary will most likely not speak with his counterpart Minister of International Relations Vénî Adsécĕr, but Teuling will probably rather get in touch with Emissary for Adversary Exchanges (EAE) of Sunrisia Esécăs Abstántâ. That is whom is Secretary Teuling has been cooperating with during the entire duration of the military conflict between Sunrisia and Rezua. This outreach is being done as West Zilveren Berg continues its’ function as a semi-mediator, but more of a messenger of the Sunrisian side that passes on messages to the Rezuan side. West Zilveren diplomats would attempt to get a statement and an agreement from the Sunrisian side, which would be passed onto the Rezuans. This meeting half-way would them hopefully lead to the cessation of open hostilities and finally conduction of the prisoner exchange between both parties.

Report: Young Liberans Shun Mandatory Service

Image

SANFACIÓN—A majority of Liberans now disapprove of the national mandatory service policy, according to a new poll conducted as part of ongoing research by La Voz as part of its "Libera—A Life Free" series.

For the first time since polling began, more than 50% of people in Nueva Libera now disapprove of being required to serve in the military reserves for 1 year. This policy has existed since the foundation of the nation, though it has changed much since then. Over the years, the service options were expanded beyond mere conscript soldiering to include search-and-rescue service, government clerk jobs, logistics planning jobs, and even paramedic training. In 1956, women were made eligible, ending the previous male-only system.

Despite the long history of reform, the national service program has always been unpopular with Liberan citizens. Support has never polled above 50% since records began in the 1950s. A strong 20% of people have always remained ambivalent, though, preventing the "disapprove" side from getting a majority of the population until now. People under 35 make up a huge chunk of this new wave of disapproval, showing a growing age split on the issue of national service between the elderly and their children.

One explanation for why a growing number of Liberan citizens disapprove of the draft could be the unprecedented amount of peace in this country's recent history. Most Liberans today weren't even alive when Nueva Libera last sent troops overseas in anger. This feeling of continued peace has led many to question whether the military's currently outsized role in politics and daily life is entirely justified.

The nature of war itself has also changed. As the world entered the 21st century, the way conflicts were fought became totally different: now, instead of huge conscript armies fighting each other, small groups of highly-trained soldiers are used by other nations to fight asymmetrical wars against guerrilla forces. Technology, too, has reduced the need for overwhelming troop presence on the battlefield. These factors together make Nueva Libera's reliance on mandatory national service seem antiquated and unhelpful.

There are those who still promote the draft as being beneficial to Nueva Libera. One reason cited for the continued existence of the service program is the labor to the government. The service system ensures that essential services like the Fleet Auxiliary, Logistics Corps, and other governmental positions will always have a steady supply of men, if often under-qualified. The large presence of martially-trained people in Nueva Libera also theoretically ensures effective guerrilla resistance to any occupying force. (The likelihood of such an event occurring, however, is very slim.)

When the Coloradist party won the continuity of its 30-year-plus Government in the 2018 general election, their party manifesto mentioned nothing about reforming, changing, abolishing, or defunding the draft service. Thanks to the new wave of disapproval, it seems unlikely that this will be the case for long.

This piece is part of the series "Libera—A Life Free," investigating common issues affecting daily life in Nueva Libera.

Sunrisian National Quarantine Eased, But Borders Remain Closed For Travel In And Out

National Quarantine

Active Cases: 12 (Being Treated)

Recovered: 13

Minister of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Anímâ Sálû updated the nation on the current situation with the RETRIT-20/PVAX-20 pandemic in the country. The statistic is positive. There are currently only 12 active cases remaining in Sunrisia overall and those individuals are undergoing treatment in specialized military medical facilities. 13 individuals have recovered out of the total number of those that were infected. The recovered individuals had participated in the search for a vaccine from RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 by donating their blood with anti-bodies they had developed. Many of the recovered are preparing for transfer to civilian hospitals from military medical facilities for further recovery. 12 active cases are also those remaining from the total of infected numbers in Sunrisia overall. No new cases have been reported, which has allowed for the Department of Health of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia to recommend the easing of the National Quarantine to the Department of the Interior and Home Affairs of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, which in turn would transfer those recommendations to the administration of the President.

After the briefing of the Minister of Health, the cabinet colleague Minister of the Interior and Home Affairs of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia Aûdrî Elénên made the long awaited announcement today. The National Quarantine in Sunrisia is being eased. The social life in the country can once again start returning to normal, which is probably amongst the best of news, especially for the summer season. Nevertheless, the Minister said that the national borders would remain closed for travel in and out, including the remaining suspension of visa-free entry for countries that Sunrisia had such an arrangement with. In fact, any kind of entry for any kind of foreign nationals would remain prohibited. The only possible exception would be foreign RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20 patients, whom Sunrisia offered to take in for treatment.

Union Military Tightens Border Control Over Guerillas And Virus

Union army has tightened the national borders of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai on Vesvai Island. The move was directly linked to the threat of guerillas that are still suspected to be coming from the neighboring New Vesvai. Another threat to close borders over is the continuing virus spreading around the world. Union armed forces takeover of border security from border police was done by the order of local authorities on the island and not the Union government in Fortwel. During this entire struggle against guerillas and the virus the military acted with orders from local authorities and not the central government in Fortwel. That’s how the situation is expected to continue unless the Union government actually declares an organized military operation against guerillas.

So far the Union army has the upper hand over any guerillas or associated paramilitaries in Vesvai’s part of the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. The military prevailed over the terrorists in three major guerilla attacks. The very first battle with guerillas resulted in their retreat and the military’s factual victory. The next encounter was the assault on a military truck by guerillas. That was an encounter where the military was caught off guard and fought off long enough for the guerillas to retreat too while the troops got evacuation. The third encounter was the recent helicopter incident. It was when the guerillas unsuccessfully attempted to take the Union military helicopter under their control. That ended with either another guerilla retreat or the murder of guerillas. No bodies were actually found after the military successfully fought back.

The domestic guerilla sympathizers associating themselves with paramilitaries or acting individually are being taken care of by the local law enforcement. Also the military on counter-terrorism mode. The larger challenge have been guerillas that have most definitely been coming from somewhere else. That’s why closing the borders would guarantee preventing their larger influx and cut those already here off from reinforcements.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

Vesvaian Revolutionary Army Boosts Presence At The Border With The Union Of Oblaren And Vesvai

Vesvaian Revolutionary Army is increasing its positions on the border with the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. This was done in response to the Union having its military largely take over control of the Union’s borders with New Vesvai from traditional border guard service. Even if New Vesvai has a border wall between itself and the neighbor nation VRA is still taking precautions of keeping the power balance. Each move related to military posturing from the Union’s side is to be countered and counter-balanced by New Vesvai according to the Ministry of the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army. The deployment of larger VRA numbers was approved by New Vesvai’s Prime Minister Adi Letago and the Parliament. The Union’s armed forces justified their increase of the military’s role in guarding their borders with New Vesvai as precautions against the virus and guerillas. Separate voices from the Union although not the government in Fortwel itself are linking pro-independence guerillas on the other side of the border to New Vesvai. Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Union has no solid proof to back up their theory aimed against New Vesvai. Admittedly New Vesvai has been a home to a large Vesvaian dissident community from the other side of the border and hosts political and social organizations formed by the dissident community. But that’s not the same as supporting pro-independence guerillas on the other side of the border according to New Vesvai’s government.

Secretary General Joan Armbrüster calls for another Council of 3 meeting

Council of 3 Secretary General Joan Armbrüster has called for another meeting of the Council’s representatives. He said that this seemed like an appropriate time for such a meeting because of challenges being faced by all members of the Council of 3: Daredland, New Vesvai and West Zilveren Berg. New Vesvai is facing further tensions with its neighbor Oblaren and Vesvai Union which is facing a rebellion that it blames New Vesvai as backing. New Vesvai is also facing security troubles not only because of tensions with the Union but the hostilities between Sunrisia and Rezua in its close proximity. West Zilveren Berg is also in a tense position of being either mediator or a Sunrisian messenger on the diplomatic front of that same conflict. The hostilities are happening in close proximity to West Zilveren Berg too. Out of the three Council members Daredland is presently having it the easiest. The crises related to the self-declared Hasperan Republic and the self-declared Weniges Reich are stable. The Hasperan problem has especially been relieved since a multinational ACREFOR peacekeeping mission began there. Council member West Zilveren Berg is one of the contributors of peacekeepers to that operation for which the Daredi government has been largely thankful. At most Daredland is now faced with a low-level inter-government crisis with the conflict between the LPM coalition and Klare Sicht on one side and the PLFWCD coalition on the other. But that is nowhere close to the level of an actual political crisis in Daredland. At least not for now. But all three Council members are facing one dangerous issue along with many other nations in the world. That is the viruses of RETRIT-20 and PVAX-20. Secretary General Armbrüster believes the Council could hold a meeting to discuss many of the previously mentioned issues but the virus problem first and foremost. The Secretary General has recommended a virtual conference to avoid direct contact for everyone’s safety.
