Basically, everyone posts their votes as normal on the IC thread. But there'll be a Google form posted somewhere (not sure if it'll be here or on the IC thread) where you simply rate each entry from 0-10 and each rank has some sort of score attached to it. Like, for example, if you rank an entry 10/10 it'll have 5 points added to its televote total, if you rate it 5/10 it's pretty much the same as giving it a 0. I'm guessing if the televote total is a minus then it's basically the same as "I'm sorry, zero points", which'd make sense unless there's someone willing to have points taken away from their jury vote. And at the end, our gracious host will sort out the televote things, adds them up to everyone's scores and there we go.

Or something along those lines, might have to ask Kish just to be sure. I've got my doubts about this whole thing too but I'm trying to keep optimistic about it.

This is a good explanation. The specifics are pretty much all covered in what I posted a few posts above. I'll be posting the form here, on the IC and on discord so nobody misses it.

In terms of your specific questions Nek, it is intended to be your overall opinion of each song /10. It's not recommended to split it up into specific categories as, in order to check that people aren't voting randomly, the televote will be compared to your jury votes (so for example, if you gave 12 points to a song on the IC thread, we then wouldn't be able to accept your votes if you ranked it lower than another song which you gave less points too). Of course because this is the first time we are doing this, then there may be changes to this in the future (if we continue with it). But for this edition, that's how it'll work.

To those who are disappointed about the televote, you did of course have the option to debate it on discord, and it did prove to be overwhelmingly popular (63% is more than 37, just like 52 is more than 48). So I recommend you suck it up and participate! If the community don't want it in the end, then that's okay, but we are trying it and it is happening.

Here at HARESHET we are committed to making the WorldVision Song Contest as exciting as possible. To that end, we are proposing that for this edition only, we add in a televoting segment. This will require slightly more effort on the part of the hosts, as well as the participants, but we feel this will make this edition of WorldVision exciting and special.

What it means for you: If this change were to go ahead, you would submit your 12-1 points as normal on the IC thread. Then following this, you would also fill in a form in which you rank all of the entries out 10, with you giving 0’s to songs you didn’t like, and 10’s to your favourite. 0-4 would give a negative rating, whereas 6-10 would give a positive one. The full televote results will be multiplied so as to give a split 50/50 result. If we approve this change, both voting segments will be compulsory. Failure to complete one of the voting requirements will result in a strike. The televote will then be revealed by the host at the end of the regular voting stage.

What does everyone think of this suggestion?

Please TG Ertzei Kishim to support, or oppose this change!

Would it be possible then, for the first time in WorldVision history (as far as I know at least), that an entry's final score could be below zero? Given enough 0-4 ratings on the televote and not enough on the jury vote?

No this won't be the case. If somebody gets a negative score in the televote, they will just receive 0 points. Nobody will lose points from their "Jury" score, from the results posted in the thread.

Any positive scores will be multiplied in order to equalise them with the total points given on the IC thread, and from this we have the televote. :)

BITC selects Arapartan singer, Kristiana Totem to WorldVision Song Contest 82 with pop banger, "Prominence"

Broadcaster BITC return to the WorldVision Song Contest 82, sending 24-year-old Apartan singer, Kristiana Totem with her song "Prominence" which is about the motivation you need to dust yourself off and get back up!

After hosting WorldVision Song Contest 81 in Boschke and winning the competition, BITC felt as though they had finally returned to the form that once was at before the situation in the 70s which forced the broadcaster away from their beloved contest. Kelsey Banques became the fourth Vha Mehlodhivestoile winner to go on to win WorldVision Song Contest, giving the nation their sixth win but BITC doesn't want to stop there. With the introduction of the televote, more than ever, the song is an even MORE important factor and the delegation feels as though the song, "Prominence" is the perfect song to send.

The WorldVision Song Contest 82, live from Ertzei Kishim, takes place next week on the 6th June 2020 at 20:00 - starting at the same time as A Hit For The World, over on BVC One - the show where we find out who will head to the 52nd World Hit Festival in Kalosia. We will keep you updated on which show wins the ratings war!

I always knew it was going to be difficut to juggle this with my dissertation, so I'm going to have to withdraw Missus X and change Mister X's tune to something very basic I'm afraid: I'll get The Doctor to do the singing for once, stepping out from behind the spokesperson role, singing "Don't Be Afraid (Unless It's A Dalek)".

I will enter "Lucky Strike" and "Vibeology" next edition.

Edit: MRX now up. Number 11.

The WorldVision voting is now OPEN!

In addition to your regular 12,10,8-1 points, please use the form below to rate all entries out of 10, this will be the televote.

A reminder that the consequence for not voting in the televote is a 25% reduction in your televote score.

Good luck to all participants!

For those who missed the live postcard reveal, I have now uploaded them all to the IC thread, where you can find them under your entry listing on the second post. I've also uploaded the official playlist at the top of the OP so you can listen to the songs of WV82 whenever you like.

There is just over 2 days left to get your jury and televotes in. Best of luck to everyone!

I see the forum continues to be neglected, in favour of easily-hidable Discord shouting.

I was always working under the assumption that the full breakdown would be released so we could see how each nation televoted, but apparently that's not going to happen, and because I'm the person who raised it apparently it's all my fault again, which not only is petty and personalising the issue, but also completely against pledges of accountability and transparency: even more so since we've not just discovered it was Ertzei Kishim's wont rather than a committee decision - ALL of it. Why didn't we know this earlier!?

Not only have I always said the televote is a bad idea, but I have been making an effort to make it work. Not being able to see how each nation voted is not only going to make us completionist spreadsheeters annoyed and archiving impossible, but also is hugely ridiculous since it's something you actually see at Eurovision, how each nation voted (right down to last place). I've even offered to compile it myself because of the workload involved, but that too has been scoffed at.

Every comment, suggestion, advice, or criticism I make is shot down in flames because I'm the one who said it, regardless of validity. Personal attacks because my commentary somehow offended you (the first commentary I'd done in ages I should point out) doesn't help. It makes me feel like there's a concerted effort to bully me out of this contest. And this isn't new, either.

You're not getting rid of me that easily.

You’re right, it will be good to also paste the discussion over to the OOC thread so everyone can see it.

The decision for it to be a host matter was made before it was even publicly suggested, and it has only become relevant now that the discussion has been had. I am absolutely in favour of further discussion to be extend the televoting responsibility to the committee if we choose to make it a regular part of WorldVision, I think it would be good to vest a new system into those with responsibility, and because of the nature it is calculated, more eyes on it are important. If it does become official rules, that will be the point where all issues raised in this test can be addressed - and if individual breakdown of results is desired, then that can be implemented from next edition.

It is with this in mind that before I confirm and post the televote results, I will share the full results with the committee so they too can confirm the validity and fairness of the results. What will be posted to the community is the break down of results that each nation got, but without knowing who it’s from, alongside the formula of how it is calculated. In addition to this, users will be able to request from me the full breakdown of their results by individual nation. This means everyone can, if they want, see how each individual nation ranked them (even if personally I do not want to break the anonymity of the vote, I am happy to compromise). The comparison to the televote in the real Eurovision doesn’t work because it is calculated differently.

Our discussion tonight was not supposed to be personal and I apologise if you felt I had made it so. My point was not about you exactly, but applies to anyone who would rather be brash in trying to get their own way, rather than trying to find compromise and approach the issue with respect and manners.

Not only is this giving the committee a power-grab by withholding key voting information from the community, but also takes away from the right of the community to keep their own archives and scoresheets.

Ertzei Kishim wrote:I do not want to break the anonymity of the vote

The vote was never described as being anonymous, nor a secret ballot, hence working on the basis it wasn't "anonymous". It's not an unrealistic assumption at all.

Ertzei Kishim wrote:The comparison to the televote in the real Eurovision doesn’t work because it is calculated differently.

This is a non-sequitur. The Eurovision split results have been given in full since 2014 in the name of transparency, despite a change to a different voting system in 2016. People need to know the scores from each one so they can see how each country arrived at the final total, not just your own nation(s) if they so wish.

To use a real example, at the last edition Ekoz and Llalta both scored 101 points, but both arrived there through very different routes. It's important for those who care to see precisely the way that each nation achieved their televoting total. Telling us solely about our own nation should a) be automatic rather than by request; and b) completely useless information unless there's a comparison available.

If you don't want to release them now (by which I mean on Mon/Tue) then fine since I can see the argument about high tension (even though I don't agree with it), but surely this argument is time-limited and would expire after a month, an edition or two, or another period of time. Can't they be released then?

Following a public consultation on Discord...

The overuse of Discord in relation to NS is something I have pointed out consistently for, well, years now. Something as important as this should have been on the forum in the first place. Not only are several users not active on Discord (and some are not even *on* Discord such as Zeganas), but the server is so active something like this may well have been marked as read without any further thought.

I did mention this when standing for the committee, that the forum shouldn't be neglected, and I guess you're now seeing why I campaigned on this.

I wasn't going to respond to this but I might as well:

Mister X wrote:I see the forum continues to be neglected, in favour of easily-hidable Discord shouting.

Not sure why you are bringing this up all of a sudden, the WVC and Kish have been keeping this thread updated. I am suspecting that you are trying to blame something for your lack of attention paid to the contest in the face of RL work.

This was not announced under the WVC account, and from the beginning it was announced from Kish's broadcaster.

Fair. Would be much more relevant if we were implementing this for all future editions, and as it is at the moment, it is a one-off experiment that we can analyze post-results.

Courtesy and calm go a long way to getting to what you want. Sensationalism and rudeness will not. Neither will self-victimization when you are called out for the latter two. Please remember this is a one-off process change for an online song contest.

You're not getting rid of me that easily.

No one needs to bother when you'll storm off in a furore on your own once things don't go your way. Throwback to when you resigned from the WVC because you felt that we were not having enough discussion about rule changes, and some time later had the gall to claim we had bullied you off it when 1. I had asked you to stay, and 2. you left entirely of your own accord.

On the latest post I'll let Kish respond to most of it but I do have something to say for this bit:

The overuse of Discord in relation to NS is something I have pointed out consistently for, well, years now. Something as important as this should have been on the forum in the first place. Alongside the televoting system and the Teams special edition, we in the committee have been discussing further initiatives and taking on suggestions to help better the contest. One of those suggestions from our community was the creation of a WorldVision directory, a place where contestants both new and old can easily access WorldVision's long and storied history in one convenient thread. We have done just exactly that! We are proud to reveal that you can now access...

Special thanks to Britonisea and Ertzei Kishim to conceptualizing and proposing the idea, as well as to Amuaplye for collecting the links to the first 20 editions of the WorldVision Song Contest.

If there are any questions, suggestions as to what you'd like to add, or corrections that we may have missed, please let us know!

WorldVision: The Teams - Voting Announcement

As we do not have a full 11 pairs (rather we have 10), the voting system to be used in the WorldVision: The Teams will be based on the Melodifestivalen televoting format. This system is 12-10-8-6-4-2-1 (12 to your favourite, downwards). This means that in every set of votes, 7 teams will receive points, and 2 teams will not. Please remember this format when we voting opens in 3 days! Best of luck!

(Thank you to Antah for the suggestion!)

(Voting as Song 10)
12 points: Song 8
10 points: Song 4
8 points: Song 7
6 points: Song 1
4 points: Song 3
2 points: Song 2
1 point: Song 9
Song 5/6 receive nothing
