NationStates' longest-running international lacrosse competition is back. Throughout its storied history of 33 editions, 21 different nations have conquered to lift the most sought-after trophy in the sport, bringing pride to their nations and forging their own legacies. Cosumar have the most medals of any active team and Sarzonia have the most gold medals in the history of the sport. Will one of them add to their dynasty, or could your nation be next?

Post here to sign up for the tournament or bid to host. Being a traditionally smaller competition, the WLC is a great tournament for newer hosts to build their resume, but some experience with xkoranate and RPing on this forum is highly recommended.

JECKLAND HOST BID FOR WORLD LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPS 34

IC Information

Jeckland is a large nation in the south of Esportiva, with a population of roughly 100 million. Known for its strong economy and fanaticism of sport, lacrosse gained a small following in the country due to the first ever tournament the nation played being WLC 17 in The Sarian. Despite not having entered tournaments internationally for a number of years, lacrosse has maintained its following. The Jeckish Lacrosse Board have indicated that the tournament would likely largely be played in Jeckland’s large football stadiums to ensure as many fans as possible from around the multiverse could attend

Host Experience

Whilst it’s been a while since my last hosting experience, I have a decent amount. I have co hosted a World Baseball Classic and solo hosted The Jeck Empire Championships. I have also scorinated a NSCF conference and two editions of the Campionato Esportiva di Campeones. Lacrosse wise, I scorinated the only edition of the Challenge Cup, an international domestic lacrosse tournament held in 2014, as well as curating the ranks for the WLC for two cycles.

Scorination and Format

The tournament will be scorinated with xkoranate, with a generous cumulative RP bonus on offer. RP bonus will not degrade during the tournament. Roster bonus will be up to two matchdays worth of RP bonus, with a minimum of one matchday’s worth awarded for posting a complete roster. This is to incentivise higher levels of RP in general, as having an opponent’s roster makes it easier for someone to RP. This will also help the expected high number of unranked nations have a chance in early matchdays. Overtime will be used in all matches to determine a winner.

The tournament will run a simple double round robin group stage and single elimination knockout format with all matches hosted in Jeckland. I will aim to have four or eight groups of x teams to allow for a knockout phase with 16 teams, seeded by group standing, with teams from the same group unable to meet in the first knockout round. Tiebreakers will be as follows, goal difference, head to head points, head to head goal difference, goals scored, playoff game (to determine advancement), RP bonus (IC: coin toss, to determine seeding where both teams have advanced. If RP bonus is level this will be decided randomly.)

UPDATE AS OF 20TH JUNE: With host voting now open and the number of signups looking more clear, I would aim to have either 32 or 40 teams playing in eight groups of four or five, with the top two reaching the round of 16. I would also entertain a 36 team tournament with six groups of six, with the top two plus the four best third placed teams going through, although this would only occur if I could not reach 32 or 40 signups without a significant delay to the start of the tournament.
