It's like how Communism is treated in the Paranoia RPG. There's no concrete definition set, everyone is just told it's pervasive and it's BAD. Which of course makes some rebels sign up, and it turns out they have no real idea of what it is on the other end either.

Well my way we have seen "protesters" looting stores, malls and delivery trucks. Attacking cars in the street and freeway. The city issued a curfew 8 - 5 am.

And interesting news. Facebook employees (didn't say the numbers) did a virtual walkout (WFH due to covid) by requesting days off to protest Zuckerbergs comments over defending Trump on twitter.

-edit-

Correction as I misspoke. It's a planned walkout.

It seems to be a small number but it shows the tight rope FB must walk: either risk regulation from the WH/Conservatives over perceived bias (which is lacking in evidence to my knowledge) or risk losing talent. It seems FB currently doesn't want to anger the WH at the moment but if a substantial number "walked" out, it could change their minds.

Indeed. Young talent is more willing to forgo offers over issues.

My old bosses daughter is story I love. I met her when she came up to my knee. She interviewed at google for the finance area. They did a week long interview where she basically lived in a hotel. They were impressed by her and made her a sweet offer. She turned it down which stunned them. They asked why and she said the interview process was like going through university applications again. She did that and has since moved on. She went into international banking. Did a couple in AsiaPac and then London. She retired at 29. When left both times; both finance houses asked her to name her price.....

Well, we have to mislead and make up a problem to hide the real problem. Mental Gymnastics at its finest.

It seems they're ignoring the real underlining problem here: that a black man was unjustly killed by the police and instead are labeling the entire protest as a far-left wing group, at least, that's how I'm viewing it based on Trump's comments. But I'm pretty sure he said "dominate" protesters.

That's quite the story. Retired at 29? I'm not that old yet but damn, she made yuge dollars. But it seems in these changing times, the culture of one's business is becoming more of a deciding factor when one takes the job instead of money, which makes sense. Needless to say, things need to change within the corporate world more so, which may take government intervention to do so, something I don't foresee this Administration doing unless it hurts Trump himself.

Zurkerx wrote:Trump, agitated, distressed, and angry, tells governors they must "dominate" protestors; tells them they are weak.

"You have to dominate or you'll look like a bunch of jerks, you have to arrest and try people," the President told the governors in a call from the basement White House Situation Room, according to an audio recording of the call obtained by CNN.

In the conversation -- which drew a rebuke from Illinois's Democratic governor on the call -- Trump appeared angry and chastised what he characterized as a weak response to protests in certain places, which he said allowed violence to take hold. Trump emphasized his belief the violence is being fomented by forces from the "radical left."

And he suggested to governors it was their responsibility, not his, to tamp down harshly on the continued unrest.

"It's a movement, if you don't put it down it will get worse and worse," Trump said. "The only time its successful is when you're weak and most of you are weak."

Trump is reverting back to his "law and order" stance he used in 2016, it seems.

Edit: added link because I somehow forgot it...

Welp, seems he called Putin for some comforting words and encouragement before he called the governors. I guess that call was of the utmost importance...

That is a powerful video. Now if only the Biden Campaign can make an effective ad out of it. Come to think of it, using Trump's words against him is probably the best approach. Sure, the MAGA Crowd won't care either way, but for those that lean towards Trump or may not consider Biden, it certainly would chip away at Trump's base/grow Biden's. That's if they are used effectively.

Sure and that's good, but he lacks consistency, or for that matter, leadership. His rhetoric certainly doesn't help.

In other news, Trump threatens to deploy the military as George Floyd protests continue to shake the U.S.

Oh, this is going to end in either two ways: peacefully or a lot of dead.

The only unhelpful rhetoric I see is that calling outside agitators protesters when they are clearly trying to hijack it for their own ends, much to the chagrin of the people actually upset about Floyd's death.

Oh, I condemn those kind of people: they offer nothing to the real problem at hand. That said, I do deeply worried that this is how these protests as a whole might be labeled. They need to be picked out and removed, but carefully. Otherwise, we could have a much bigger mess on our hands.

Trump's Deranged Response To The George Floyd Protests: A Closer Look

Most striking are the contrasting behavior of police dealing with the George Floyd protestors and right-wing anti-lockdown agitators. Especially since like in Syria, the protests were overall peaceful until the authorities brutally cracked down.

And yet the entire purpose of the photo op was to give Evangelical conservatives a hard-on by proving how totally devout he is, thus reassuring them that whoring their faith on his behalf is totally the right and Christian thing to do.
