Adyatin’s Roster for Baptism of Fire 72

Adyatin is a largely agricultural, landlocked nation in Northeastern Rushmore, bordering the Filopines in the North, Savojarna to the East, and the Urain to the South. It has been historically tied to Savojarna, and through much of history, Adyatin’s land has been held by various Savojar nobles first as vassals of various Savojar kingdoms, then as a privately held land during the Second Empire. In the 20th century, Adyatin has fought three wars against Savojarna to ensure its own independence and existence as a Russian, Orthodox kingdom. The upper classes of Adyatin are traditionally more oriented towards Savojarna, although this has somewhat changed since the Revolution in the latter country.

Football is the most popular sport in Adyatin together with ice hockey, and it is largely treated as a plaything for the rich. Adyatin’s oligarchs control the country’s football clubs, and they bankroll a league with high budgets and notorious corruption, but little footballing quality. Adyati teams are typically physical, disciplined, and workmanlike, with the military having a traditionally large role in sports. The country’s professional league, the Adyati Vysheshaya Liga (AVL, or Adyati Premier League), is dominated by the army side ZSKA Adyatyagrad from the capital and the Northwestern club FK Staraya Vetry, owned by the family of the Royal Prime Minister.

TEAM

Coach: Konstantin Yatsonov
Age: 60 // Coach since: BoF 72
Kostya Yatsonov is perhaps Adyatin’s most remarkable manager. As a player, Yatsonov was a box-to-box player who later converted to deep-lying playmaker who was known as one of Adyatin’s historically best players, known as the Gentleman of the Field. Yatsonov has been a gifted technician and a fast player, but he was best known for his sportsmanship. Following the end of his career at age 34, he briefly turned to the Faith, but returned to football ten years later, emerging as a coach at his childhood club FK Vlatov. He then went on to manage first SKA Varinsk, then ZSKA’s youth team, and then spent six years at the helm of the Army side before resigning two years ago to eventually take over the national side. His technicality did not really carry over, although his iron discipline did.

Coaching Team: Oleg Martov, Juraj Berezutskiy, Karol Provtsov
Ages: 49, 40, 48 // Special functions: Main assistant, Physical trainer, Goalkeeper coach
Martov is a disciple of Adyati coaching legend Vasiliy Plekhanov, and has played for Staraya Vetry back when they were a mid-table side, as well as for Karalsky during their high time in the 1980s. As a defender, he was an important cornerstone of the successes of Karalsky, but not put into the limelight. As a coach, he hasn’t shined much despite his good fundamental skills, but he has flaws in terms of tactics and team management - making him a perfect fit for the assistant position.
Berezutskiy is the only member of the playing team who has never played football at least semi-professionally himself, but has been a graduate of Adyatyagrad National University’s Sports Science Program, the first in the nation. He has specialised in condition training and is responsible for ensuring physical fitness of the team.
Provtsov, a former semi-professional goalkeeper in the second division, has been unable to break the top and got injured at age 29, prompting him to give up his career and follow a coaching degree. This has eventually led to his career as a goalkeeping coach in the Army system, where he still works with the youth teams of ZSKA and occasionally the SKA teams.

#1 Serhiy Makhulin
Position: GK // Age: 29 // Height: 201 cm // Club: ZSKA Adyatyagrad
Serhiy Makhulin, the best goalkeeper of Adyatin without any question, is a posterboy for the nation: Tall, dark-haired, handsome, broad-shouldered, and above all talented. He is a spectacular shot-stopper and has an iron grip on his defence. Can expect to be beaten in situations where he needs to anticipate, and isn’t incredibly comfortable with the ball on his feet.

#2 Andriy Skuranov
Position: LB // Age: 24 // Height: 179 cm // Club: ZSKA Adyatyagrad
A speedy leftback, but with little pressure forward. Skuranov is a defensively conscious player and will primarily use his speed to shut down attempts at long, diagonal balls. Very capable of playing passes up the touchline or into the mid-field, but not a creative or technical prodigy by any means.

#3 Konstantin Sirietko
Position: CB // Age: 28 // Height: 184 cm // Club: SKA Varinsk
Sirietko is at the core of an over-achieving Varinsk side. A presence in the back line, with the capability of playing the odd long ball to a winger, but mostly there to connect the back line to the midfield, and to win the ball with an overwhelming physical presence as well as precise tackles.

#4 Lyubomir Andriyev
Position: CB // Age: 30 // Height: 188 cm // Club: ZSKA Adyatyagrad
A defender with an uncommon comfort on the ball and a certain quality that, were this not Adyatin, one may almost call graceful. Andriyev is a tactical genius and has a brilliant conception of the field, organising ZSKA’s defence and shuffling his teammates around while winning balls himself and play the first ball into the mid-field.

#5 Heorhiy Alekseev
Position: RB // Age: 31 // Height: 190 cm // Club: ZSKA Adyatyagrad
Alekseev is a pretty unspectacular defender. Find a position where you cover much of the field, bring in a sliding tackle or wrestle the ball from your opponent, and play it to a centre-back or a defensive midfielder; rinse and repeat. Nonetheless, he’s capable of frustrating opposition and shutting down their play, and won’t lose the ball right back after winning it.

#6 Kirilo Lutsenko
Position: DM // Age: 26 // Height: 189 cm // Club: Karalsky Adyatyagrad
Lutsenko is the defensive option in the midfield arsenal of Adyatin, playing highly defensively and also slotting in as a CB if required. However, he has a very good positioning and a strong technique that lifts him above the average CB, and likes to play diagonal balls to a striker or winger.

#7 Andrei Maritsyn
Position: LM // Age: 27 // Height: 174 cm // Club: FK Staraya Vetry
A workhorse on the left side - fast, enduring, and with a precise cross. He is likely to leave most Adyati defenders in the dust thanks to his speed, although we’re curious to see if he’ll be able to do this against faster international opposition as well. Pushing in the opponent is what he does best, but every now and then, he cuts inside.

#8 Petro Simunov
Position: CM // Age: 29 // Height: 177 cm // Club: ZSKA Adyatyagrad
A box-to-box shuttler, who will likely be running at speed for most of the game. He is rarely visible in the highlights of a game, but he has a lot of stamina and a good tactical awareness, making him surprisingly important. Often, you will realise upon reviewing a play that he was actually crucial three passes before the goal.

#9 Slavomir Hautarovich
Position: ST // Age: 27 // Height: 183 cm // Club: FK Staraya Vetry
A lurker in the box, not incredibly tall, but strong and good enough at jumping to convert the odd cross; and gifted with a brilliant spatial awareness and a strong shot. Once he gets the ball within twelve metres from the goal, alarms should be going off. Defensively, he has few qualities and few responsibilities.

#10 Ivan Yushchenko [C]
Position: OM // Age: 26 // Height: 175 cm // Club: FK Staraya Vetry
A playmaker turned support striker, he is a wildcard on the ball. Could dribble through the lines and aim for goal, play a pass to the wing, a through pass to Hautarovich, or just opt for a long shot. However, he struggles keeping the ball around when pressured by physical opposition, and may be inclined to faster passes.

#11 Juraj Dmitriyev
Position: RW // Age: 25 // Height: 187 cm // Club: SKA Yautarograd
A fast and clean winger with a certain penchant for shots from the side, he is a threat as much as he is a risk. Sometimes Dmitriyev knocks a ball into the goal from the sidelines before anyone even understands what has happened, but sometimes he’ll also play a completely impossible play that nobody ever could see work out. Adyatin’s free kick specialist as well.

#12 Serhiy Heorhiyev
Position: GK // Age: 23 // Height: 196 cm // Club: Karalsky Adyatyagrad
Young and agile, he is considered the future of Adyati goalkeeping and has held his own with Karalsky in the AVL. However, he isn’t at international level, especially when it comes to ordering his defence. This makes him a distinct second or even third choice.

#13 Arseniy Varchenko
Position: ST // Age: 28 // Height: 189 cm // Club: Karalsky Adyatyagrad
A tank in the front - big, tall, strong, and with few intentions to go more than two metres further back than necessary to not be off-side. Everybody knows what will happen when he gets the ball in the box, but somehow they still haven’t managed to prevent him from doing his thing - which mostly means scoring goals.

#14 Viktor Semyanov
Position: LM // Age: 21 // Height: 178 cm // Club: SKA Varinsk
An unspectacular, but perfectly serviceable wide midfielder. Running up and down the pitch, getting balls, running into open spaces A LOT, and then delivering crosses. That sort of thing.

#15 Yegor Rudnicky
Position: RB // Age: 22 // Height: 181 cm // Club: Zenit Rotko
You rarely see Adyati wing-backs, perhaps due to the incredibly disciplined and defensive approach the Kingdom takes to football, but he is a rare expectation. Often pushing forward with his speed, he disrupts the opposition, but sometimes it seems like he doesn’t fully fit into the system - which makes him a bit of a risk.

#16 Volodymyr Pyatov
Position: CB // Age: 25 // Height: 192 cm // Club: FK Staraya Vetry
Defensively extremely solid, tall, and capable of timing a tackle well. While Pyatov is rarely caught out of position, he is sometimes guilty of just smacking balls up the pitch. Knows how to use his height in the air, but other than that… a perfectly fine centre-back.

#17 Aleksiy Stefanov
Position: OM // Age: 24 // Height: 177 cm // Club: SKA Varinsk
An exciting young playmaker to fill a similar role to Yushchenko, but is in comparison more defensively oriented and perhaps a bit more secure, but also a bit more predictable. Usually distributes balls rather than going from an attack, and feels more comfortable as a Ten than he does as a support striker.

#18 Nikolau Astrovich
Position: LB // Age: 32 // Height: 176 cm // Club: SKA Yautarograd
A defensive, immobile left back who stays in his place and will make his winger’s life a living hell. If placed against speedy opposition, he is not at all opposed to breaking said winger’s ankle, although it will probably not have been on purpose.

#19 Andriy Nemanek
Position: RM // Age: 31 // Height: 183 cm // Club: Olimpik Yautarograd
Nemanek is somewhat of a phenomenon. A wide player thanks to his speed, he is a playmaker at heart: swinging not only dangerous crosses, but also passes between the lines or across the entire pitch, as well as passes back into the central midfield. However, he somewhat lacks drive to the goal, making him sometimes too complicated.

#20 Taras Ivanov
Position: DM // Age: 21 // Height: 176 cm // Club: FK Vlatov
A deep-lying playmaker who plays incredible diagonal passes with a vision that is frankly impressive. Finding wingers with impeccable precision is his big speciality, but he isn’t always solid defensively, which makes Lutsenko the preferred choice. At least as of now.

#21 Patryk Hronek
Position: ST // Age: 23 // Height: 185 cm // Club: FK Vlatov
Yeah, that’s a striker. Hronek isn’t known for any particularly notable qualities, except for one: His incredible goal production. Nobody quite knows how he does it, and his complete lack of tactical awareness or will to work backwards pushes him down the hierarchy, but somehow he will get a goal in almost every game.

#22 Mikhail Samarin
Position: CB // Age: 30 // Height: 181 cm // Club: FK Vidyansk
The organiser of Vidyansk’s defence, he is a tactically astute defender who can also play as a holding midfielder. Pushing forward almost like an old-school libero, Samarin is strong on the ball and can distribute it as well as win it back.

#23 Volodymyr Karpov
Position: GK // Age: 29 // Height: 188 cm // Club: SKA Yautarograd
A commanding goalkeeper who will try to stop shots before they are even made. He isn’t extremely fast or spectacular, but he has an aura and a presence in the box that makes it hard to ignore him, and makes the player feel like the goal is half as big as it is.

STARTING XI:

TACTICS

STYLE: -2.5

The team typically plays very direct and utilising their physical advantages. On the ball, a lot of movement comes from the back, and the midfielders like to play diagonal long balls to the farside winger or to the strikers, trying to bypass the opposing defensive line. When not on the ball, they fall into two solid lines that move in parallel, while the two strikers tend to press. They give the opposition a lot of space up to the first line, but once the opposition reaches Adyatin’s midfield line, they defend vigorously and physically.

ROLES
Captain: Yushchenko => Simunov => Maritsyn => Andriyev
Free Kicks (direct): Maritsyn, Yushchenko (centre, right)
Free Kicks (long): Simunov
Corners: Maritsyn (left), Dmitriyev (right)
Penalty Kick: Hautarovich, Yushchenko, Maritsyn, Simunov, Dmitriyev, Varchenko, Samarin [also progression for shooutouts]

FIRST INTERNATIONAL MATCH/FIRST LOSS: Ethane 0-1 Oisinistan (BoF61)
- It may have been a loss, but this match marked the start of a campaign which saw Ethane reach the quarter-finals of the Baptism of Fire.
FIRST WIN: Ethane 2-1 Whovian Tardisia (BoF61)
- This was the final match of the group stages of the Baptism of Fire for the Red Kites, and also the first win ever for the team on the international stage. This result saw them slip out of the groups in second, narrowly qualifying to the next stage of the tournament.
FIRST DRAW: Ethane 0-0 Quazira (BoF61)
- This was the second match of that tight Baptism of Fire group, and was a tense but uneventful match. This draw against the group leaders kept the Red Kites in a place where they could still progress.
FIRST WCQ MATCH/WIN: Kynystan 0-1 Ethane (WCQ74)
- This match set the tone for Ethane's first qualifying campaign. They did challenge and threaten the top teams, but were never really in contention to reach the world cup.
FIRST WC MATCH: Ethane 2-2 Cosumar (WC77)
- As first World Cup matches go, the Red Kites managed to impress with a draw against a decent team. Ultimately, the point claimed from this draw ended up being the only point claimed in the group, leading to the inevitable elimination of Ethane from the world cup. It was a start.
FIRST WC WIN: Ethane 1-0 Nova Anglicana (WC78)
- The first of Ethane's World Cup matches in this cycle, the Red Kites were keen to set the tone for the rest of the group. And that they did, with a decent performance leading to a win. This, and the draw against San Jose Guayabal, allowed the Red Kites to progress past the group stages for the first time in the team's history.
LARGEST WIN: Ethane 6-0 Legalese | Ethane 7-1 Kandonica (WCQ83)
- The Red Kites dominated in this match, completely shutting Legalese out. This match formed part of a qualifying campaign which saw the team win the qualifying group, but ultimately struggle in a very tough world cup group. Declan Smith managed to score a hattrick against Legalese in this match, asserting his claim to a position in the team.
- This is one of the better results from a brutal world cup qualification campaign, which saw Ethane go crashing out in the group playoffs. One of the better results of the campaign, it is often used to hide the other more devastating results.
LARGEST LOSS: Nephara 9-3 Ethane (WCQ83)
- Perhaps one of the more devastating Ethani footballing results, Nephara run rampant over Ethane despite the 2-0 lead for the Red Kites after 20 minutes. This solidified Nephara's lead of the group and left Ethane shocked.
HIGHEST SCORING GAME: Nephara 9-3 Ethane (WCQ83)
- We don't talk about this.
MOST SIGNIFICANT/IMPRESSIVE GAMES: Ethane 3-1 The Holy Empire (WC75Q) | Electrum 1-0 Ethane (WC77Q) | Ethane 1-0 Eshan (Fr) | Ethane 3-3 San José Guayabal (WC78) | Ethane 2-0 Valladares (WC79Q) | Ethane 3-1 Cassadaigua (WC81) | Nephara 9-3 Ethane (WCQ83) | Ethane 1-2 Port Ember (WCQ84)
- The significance of this game lies not in the outcome leading from this match, although Ethane did reach the playoffs for the first time due primarily to this result amongst other factors in the group. Instead, it is significant because of the result considering the ranking disparity between these 2 teams. This early on in Ethane's footballing journey, a result like this is, and was, impressive.
- A crucial victory against a top team which allowed the Red Kites to qualify for their first world cup ever.
- #friendlyrivalry #ESHANE
- A crucial game against a highly prestigious team which allowed the Red Kites to progress past the world cup group stage for the first time in their history.
- This confident victory against the top seed in the group kickstarted Ethane's qualifying campaign which saw the Red Kites reach the world cup for the third consecutive edition.
- Ethane's first victory in the World Cup knockout rounds.
- As I said, we don't speak about this. But it was a significant game.
- The devastating result that destroyed Ethane's world cup qualification chances, turning a seemingly indomitable second place into a fourth place finish in the groups after a terrible second half of qualifying.

STAFFING
MANAGER: Daniel Bakerman | 47
Rotational football was a failure. James Bennett, who was in charge for the 84th world cup qualification campaign, was quickly let go following the second half collapse. The team had solidified a ten-point lead over third place, but managed to jeopardise their success with a string of draws and defeats. With failure and another drop in the international rankings, the FAE have looked to Daniel Bakerman to provide the success the national team so desperately wants, especially considering the cuts in funding stemming from a lack of performance and changes in governance within Ethane. Bakerman in essence marks a return to more conventional footballing tactics, with defensive philosophies at the core of his playstyle. Effectively, Bakerman's appointment is a return to core Ethani footballing identity in a defensive style of play. This will undoubtedly better suit some of the players from The Flame League. Bakerman has previous experience managing lower-level Ethani league teams, such as Ketley and Whitsown Wanderers. Following mediocre success at these clubs, he was appointed to the youth setup at Letson Town where he has found success in the youth leagues and tournaments. He was tipped to take over the Letson Town managerial role before Andrew Gillips took the position. Instead, he has departed Letson Town for the national team.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: Sabrina Taigasen | 39
Close friends with Bakerman, Sabrina struck up a relationship with him at Whitsown Wanderers where she was on the staff coaching team. She has since adopted the ideas and tactics of Bakerman and forms a dynamic coaching relationship with him, supporting him and the players in tactical and professional development. Perhaps more savvy with the media, she is the face of the gradual growth of women in Ethani football. Her appointment is somewhat controversial though, due to her sex and concerns around the intimacy and relationship between Bakerman and Taigasen.

THE PLAYERS
Changes in The Flame League and in the managerial style of the national team have had an impact on the player base of the Red Kites. A limited shift towards a slightly more defensive player base has definitely occurred. However, this is not to take away from the quality offensive players that this team has, although the whole team has undergone a decline over recent years. Perhaps this also explains the influx of some new, younger players. The manager may be looking to some of the new blood to step up and make that difference to stop the rot. However, there are expectations on the already established players as well to perform, with previous performances not living up to what this team is capable of - not too long ago, this team was ranked 8th in the world.

GOALKEEPER: Joss Araújo | 27 | Bourne River | 0 caps | 0 cleans sheets
A dynamic shot-stopper, Araújo is a rising star in Ethanian football. Stepping up recently to the Bourne River team, he has demonstrated great awareness in league play, as well as that ability to just pull off an amazing save here and there. About 6' 2'' in height, Araújo's height isn't to be frowned at, with his ability to make himself big in goal one of his advantages. His goal kicks aren't amazing, and he probably isn't someone you'd want to rely on passing back to on many occasions, but as a basic goalkeeper he lives up to and goes beyond expectations. The international stage does bring with it different forms of pressure though, so it has to be seen whether he will stand up to the task of guiding this team through the qualifiers.

GOALKEEPER: Donovan Velázquez | 26 | Birdingstone United | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
The penalty specialist. Velázquez has an ability to read players well. While his positioning in normal play may not be the best, and his awareness is sub-standard, when it comes to one-on-ones and penalties he really shines. He isn't short and he has an intimidating stature. But when it comes to that penalty shootout or that extra time wonder-save, you know he is going to be the one with his name up in lights.

GOALKEEPER: Ryan Lloyd | 18 | ETN | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
Inexperienced yet energetic and enthusiastic, Lloyd is that keeper to watch for in the future. Primarily in the side to get some experience of the international environment, it's unlikely he's going to be standing between the goalposts for too long. But this campaign is more about relationship and skill-development than anything else for him, with one eye on a future first team position.

LEFT-BACK: Cai Woods | 31 | AS Bezieres (VLD) | 59 caps | 14 clean sheets | 4 goals | 10 assists
Woods is a skilled Ethani football player. He is mature and skilled with the ball at his feet, and has great awareness on and off the ball. He isn't particularly strong and he lacks some of the pace he used to possess, but he isn't slow either and can provide limited threat on the offensive. He has developed a deadly cross as well, performing well in overlap with a left-winger or a left-positioned attacking midfielder. But he is also aware of when not to attack and to stay back, providing solid covering in defence. He may seem past his best, but he certainly is far from it, he's just adapted.

LEFT-BACK: Eric Morris | 33 | Bourne River | 71 caps | 20 cleans sheets | 10 goals | 29 assists
Morris is a creative left-back. He likes to play fast-paced football, with a general impetus to get the ball upfield rather than to keep possession which makes him an unusual fit for this team, albeit better placed with offensive focus. He is creative but he is malleable, meaning he sometimes does get caught out on the defensive with a lack of positioning awareness a downside to his game. He is a talented tackler though, timing his tackles well; it is unusual that he gets a card. Occasionally, he can also pose a threat in front of goal with his well-timed runs into the box. He can push up and play LM if required, although he probably wouldn't fit into a Left-attacking midfielder position.

LEFT-BACK: Antonio Atanga | 29 | New Sarum | 16 caps | 4 clean sheets | 2 goals | 8 assists
Atanga is also often used as a pacey wingback, marauding down the flanks acting as a winger as well as a defender, providing an extra dimension on attack depending on the formation of play. He is quite skilled at dribbling at pace and has a few skill moves up his sleeves, as well as an accurate cross and finesse shot. He is slightly unstable on his feet though and a little too keen to go to ground, both when being tackled but also in his overuse of slide tackles which makes cards a slightly greater consideration for him. When on the pitch, could potentially take free-kicks.

CENTRE-BACK: Nelson Romero | 35 | South Saints | 40 caps | 8 clean sheets
An experienced hand in defence, Romero is a relatively good all-around player in his position. He isn't remarkable in any aspect of his game really but has workmanship that sees him stick in, go for it, and really put everything he can into defending that goal, putting his body on the line. His passing is just about average, his tackling and positioning are just above average, yet because of the effort, he gives that averageness is better than the showy nature of some defenders who put in less effort. He is a brutish figure and is very strong, providing him with the ability to muscle people off the ball. He is willing to aid in attacks, although he is a slow player.

CENTRE-BACK: Craig James | 24 | Loconstead United | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
James is an average paced player with a lot of confidence. This confidence is great when he is marking people, which he does really well at restricting players from making moves and tracking their movement, skilled at positioning. However, this confidence is not so good when he is willing to go to ground easily and doesn't have the same game sense as a more experienced player would have, thus making him slightly more prone to cards.

CENTRE-BACK: Markus Capradossi | 27 | ETN | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
A solid defensive player with brute strength and good positioning and awareness. Can be a bit of a brute, so may sometimes get a card. But generally smart and stays on his feet when he can. Sometimes panics and can get desperate, but also sometimes pulls off some marvellous defensive work. Not good when he's on his own at the back.

CENTRE-BACK: Max Wilburn-Mason | 20 | Hullbury | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
A young, upcoming Ethani defensive player. He is mature beyond his age. A tall player, Wilburn-Mason has a great aerial presence and typically wins headers. He isn't fast but he is smart in positioning and awareness, great at interceptions and conservative tackles. He won't go all in for a tackle, preferring to stay on his feet. Young and inexperienced so may be caught out sometimes on this stage.

CENTRE-BACK: Zacarías Caraveo | 23 | Southern Hampton City | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
A faster defender, Caraveo will sometimes bomb forward and provide extra support on the offensive. He's the sort of defensive player you'd push up to play as striker in the dying minutes of a game the team is chasing. He can provide some support on the defensive, but his timing on tackles can be poor. Still, he has great aerial presence and is good at tracking back and intercepting.

RIGHT-BACK: Zakariya McArthur | 31 | Brindham Park |23 caps | 4 clean sheets | 4 assists
He's pacey so can bomb forward and provide an extra dimension on the wing in the attack, but also puts in a lot of effort so quickly tracks back to prevent counters. He commits, but not too much to leave him way out of position. He has accurate crosses, powerful shots. He reads the game well and knows when to cross when to go in for a shot, and when to stay back for the counter. He knows when to go in for a tackle and when to just block. He just isn't very good in pressurised situations.

RIGHT-BACK: Toby Turner | 23 | Bourne River | 4 caps | 1 clean sheet
A young, agile, and fast player; Turner certainly provides an explosive aspect to his game. He is also relatively smart defensively and in positioning. His weakness comes in the offence, with his passing not up to standard and his crossing slightly lacklustre, though this are areas of his game which he is spending significant time developing, which Bennett will certainly help with considering their history working together as well.

RIGHT-BACK: Sebastien Ryalls | 22 | New Sarum | 0 caps | 0 clean sheets
A dynamic, pacey right-back who adds an extra offensive overlapping game to his defensive abilities. He is fast, agile, and smart in his playstyle. He is also perhaps one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, sweet and kind, and always apologetic when he fouls another player.

LEFT-MIDFIELDER: Iwan Roberts | 31 | Makosile United (VIL) | 46 caps | 4 goals | 11 assists
He may not have the strength of some wingers, nor quite the same crossing abilities as some of the better wingers (although he can still whip some decent crosses in), but what he does have is pace. He is one of Ethane's quickest runners, and he has a decent dribbling ability, making him ideal for a team focused on attack - either counter or just full-out - with the core idea to rip apart and stretch the opponent's defence. He has this ability to draw the defence out to him by coaxing them before charging round them - one of his trademark moves.

LEFT-MIDFIELDER: Alex Woodrow | 32 | New Sarum | 2 caps | 1 assist
Woodrow is agile and flexible, thus able to dupe players with his skill abilities. But he isn't that quick a player. However, he has a really good cross and can pick out players in the box with precision. He is also good at set pieces, and is likely to play them if Atanga isn't.

LEFT-MIDFIELDER: Declan Wharton | 23 | ETN
A gentle person who would never harm a fly. Unless it's on a football pitch. He's an aggressive, tackle-heavy, strong winger who is not afraid to charge straight through his opponents, nor to pick up fouls here and there. He doesn't often get red cards, but when he does they are typically brutal tackles. But he is a good player, smart, agile, and has a potent cross and shot to him. Pretty good at overlapping with defensive players and working with the team.

CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Leyton Underwood | 35 | South Saints | 115 caps | 22 goals | 35 assists
Leyton has a remarkable mind focused on attack, getting the ball forward and making advances towards the goal. He has pace, as well as the set of skills required to do well in the centre of midfield - passing, dribbling, the authority to dictate the game plan and the pace of play. He is a strong leadership figure within this squad and well respected, both in the team and abroad.

CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Jaheim Zavala | 26 | Cranehead | 19 caps | 2 goals | 10 assists
Zavala has a really attacking impetus to his game, dribbling and moving forward and always trying to force the pass on. He has good linkup play between the defence and offence, and is not afraid to try out new things. Occasionally drifts too wide leaving the middle open, but also covers for wingers well. Pacey. Doesn't offer up too much in defence, but working on his defensive game. A very bright future.

CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Alexander Kjaer | 28 | Loconstead United | 9 caps | 4 goals | 2 assists
Kjaer is a calm and collected player. He puts the effort in, but he often doesn't know how best to approach a situation, making him prone to the mistake here and there. However, he is very much zippy and agile in midfield, especially when turning and shooting, providing a link-up threat or even an attacking threat himself when on the attack, especially effective on the counter.

CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Lewis Mickey | 32 | Johnho United (DAR) | 10 caps | 2 goals
Good awareness, positioning, passing, dribbling. Poor in the air. Can't tackle well, and his timing is bad, so prone to picking up a yellow card here and there. However, he knows when to play safer so generally doesn't get many red cards.

CENTRE-MIDFIELDER: Nicolas Riemann | 25 | Rhayader | 0 caps | 0 goals | 0 assists
An aspirational player who often takes on tasks that they cannot do in the hope they grow into it. They are out of their depth, but are able to step up sometimes where needed. A more conservative player who plays well in a possession-based balanced team. Good passing and vision.

RIGHT-MIDFIELDER: Kyle Ford | 27 | Oakstone (EUR) | 82 caps | 23 goals | 51 assists
Ford offers a lot for the national team and is one of Ethane's most notable players. His style isn't founded on pace like some of the other players on the international team. Instead, he prefers to build up and keep possession. He is a strong dribbler, and has great awareness, especially in regards to crosses and through balls, the like which can tear open defences. He is also not averse to switching play a little and coming into the centre from the wing in an attack on the defence, letting the odd shot off here and there.

RIGHT-MIDFIELDER: Rigby Headley (RW) | 32 | Olympia FC (EFL) | 64 caps | 19 goals | 18 assists
Headley is a talented striker/right-wing attacker, hence the call up to the national side. He has past experience on the national side. Will be used in cases where the team is focused on attack solely, due to his more attacking nature of play.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELDER: Josh Montoya | 31 | Oakstone (EUR) | 106 caps | 34 goals | 44 assists
Montoya has a real ability to play and carry a team if needed. He's one of those players you can rely on to deliver when everyone else is having a bad game. Even if he's having a bad game he has that moment of genius that can make all the difference. Montoya is a mature footballer, showing wisdom and intelligence in his style of play and technique. He also has a deadly pace which allows him to rocket past defenders and tear opposition teams open. However, his main skills lie in his passing ability. His awareness allows for deadly through-balls and crucial passes, although when things aren't working out he can get a little frustrated and his performances drop a little. He can struggle under intense pressure, and is more injury prone than other players following a severe injury near the start of his career. He is also fairly reluctant to tackle because of this and doesn't offer much defensively.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELDER: Andy Obrien | 27 | Letson Town | 27 caps | 4 goals | 5 assists
He is dedicated and much more willing to put energy and time into training and into the game, making him an important player to have on the field because of how willing he is to get involved. He isn't necessarily fast either, but he is a great playmaker, and completely unselfish. He is solid at positioning, passing, and dribbling, which allows him to work and coordinate an attack from the front effectively.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELDER: Seth Vaughan | 33 | Birdingstone United | 28 caps | 9 goals | 16 assists
Vaughan is a bad-tempered but genius player who can often provide that crucial pass into the box. He often drifts wide for crosses and drops deep to collect the ball again and move it upfield due to his quality ball-at-feet skills, be it through skill moves or just generic dribbling and passing. He can be quite selfish, but is not stupid to squander a game because he wouldn't pass to someone else. Quite an independent player so doesn't generally integrate in the team community, although he does have a lot to say in the dressing room.

ATTACKING-MIDFIELDER:Leonardo Ford | 32 | Cranequin Wanderers (NPH) | 2 caps | 1 goal | 1 assist
Brought in to bring a bit of maturity into the position when needed and refinement, Ford is towards the older side of the players in the national team. That's not to say he isn't fresh or willing to get stuck in. However, Ford is very much an individual player who subscribes to individuals working together to form a team, rather than a unit of players working together which is the view Comi more aligns with. This probably explains why Ford is generally more selfish than other players and could go some distance in explaining why Southern Hampton City wasn't slightly higher than they finished. Undoubtedly, Ford is good in his role with 11 assists to his name across the past season, but his selfishness and own ambition, which saw him score 8 goals across the past season, also saw his team miss a number of chances and lose out in chances where if he had passed to someone else, they might have scored.

STRIKER: Declan Smith | 28 | IFK Aldenskoett (COS) | 104 caps | 82 goals | 14 assists
Smith has a real eye for goal and always seems to know how to turn every play into an opportunity on goal, even when it seems there is no chance on goal. He can score goals from anywhere and any moment, it's almost magical. His assist number is a lot lower because he is always looking for goals, sometimes meaning he ignores an obvious opportunity that a teammate has to score, making him seem a little selfish. However, he is always trying to do what is best for the team in his own eyes. He can dribble and move well with the ball, although he isn't the fastest striker in the world. However, he does have good vision and knows where to move to shoot and to receive a pass. This makes him a dangerous player to be facing.

STRIKER: Mohammed Hope | 34 | South Saints | 100 caps | 65 goals | 11 assists
Hope is a very useful player to have on your team, specialising in long shots with his accuracy and vision proving integral to his striker talents. He is an impactful player. He is also good at headers - perfect for corners and free kicks. He has a powerful and accurate shot, which can often catch keepers off guard.

STRIKER: Scott Burgess | 27 | Loconstead United | 95 caps | 42 goals | 12 assists
Burgess is a very fast striker, allowing him to breakway and rip apart defences with his speed and surpise. He is especially effective on the counter attack, but is also very useful as a point striker, because of his vision and his short-range shooting abilities. He is weaker at long-range shooting, and is not the greatest at headers. However, he is a strong team-player, and fully dedicated to his team.

STRIKER: Samuel Mitchell | 33 | South Saints | 128 caps | 58 goals | 5 assists
Mitchell is a natural star and is great with the press. He has decent pace, which brings him the ability to zip round opposition players, to get the best shot on goal. While his finesse and technical ability when with and without the ball is certainly not fully developed yet, he has the passion, determination and ability to get the job done, which speaks testaments to the great player that Mitchell is.

STRIKER: Luke Roberts | 28 | North Laithland (NPH) | 0 caps | 0 goals | 0 assists
Pacey, and good at finishing. Not much of a team player. Good with the head, but has a poor left foot. Good on the break. Believes he is better than Deloitte and thinks moving will help him in to the national team.

STRIKER: Lukas Cole | 29 | Falourr (EUR) | 43 caps | 16 goals | 8 assists
He is more of a team player and passes the ball a lot more than other strikers such as Smith. Sometimes, he can be too unselfish, harming his own goal tally, as he misses what could have been an easy goal for himself to pass the ball to someone else. This can also lead to mistakes in passing the ball, resulting in his team missing out on a goal completely because of a mistake. He is a relatively fast striker. However, he is weak on the ball and can easily be pushed off, so needs a little more space to shoot than other strikers. Doesn't like being under pressure too much.

STRIKER: Denis Classie | 28 | New Sarum |1 cap | 1 assist
Classie is a smart, but back-to-basics, young striker. Acting as a target man, he can take it anywhere and make any turn needed. He's good with the head, both feet, or any part of the body needed, and is good running on to the ball with through balls, especially in one-on-ones but also good at longer shots. Basically, he doesn't do much else.

Stadium

King Edward IV Stadium
Image

The stadium is situated in New Sarum, the capital of Ethane. New Sarum is the metropolitan hub of Ethane. Home to around 2.8 million people, it is nestled on the south-west coast of Ethane.
The stadium can hold 50,000 people in the setup as shown above.

The Marianne Detreux Stadium
Image

The stadium is located in Southern Hampton, which is on the southern end of the Isle of Lowe. This is off the coast of Ethane and is accessible by boat and plane, with special ferries and flights put in place for when matches are on. The airport is small however on the island, so much of the travel to the Isle of Lowe is by boat. The Isle of Lowe is a beautiful place with heavy focus on natural beauty. The northern side of the island is very mountainous and is great for hikes.
The stadium can hold 25,550 people.

Newton-Smith Arena
Image

This stadium is located in Letson, located in the south of Ethane. The city is heavily reliant on the tourism industry, with a decent beach and strong historical connections and landmarks as part of a tour of Ethane. The city is very rich in its cultural history and art which can be seen as you walk around the city. Letson is home to around 650,000 people, but feels a lot more homely than the other large cities.
The stadium can hold up to 26,000 people.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Godmod scoring events: No.
RP injuries to my players: Y. (I have the right to change the length of an injury)
Godmod injuries to my players: No.
Give red cards to my players: Yes.
Godmod other events: Potentially. If unsure, give me a TG. Nothing massively ludicrous. No diseases or pandemics.
Esportivan and Proud.
<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.
Best WorldVision Finish: 2nd. Best World Cup Finish: Quarter-Finals. Best KPB Rank: 8th. Best WBC Finish: 1st.

Busoga Islands National Team

Information
Country code: BUS
Denonym: Busogans/Busoga Islanders/Islanders(Busoga Islanders is the formal term; many Banijans call them Busogans, while locals refer to themselves simply as Islanders, which will be the terminology used by the journalists of this country)
Association: Busoga Islander Soccer Association(BISA)
Manager: Bethany O'Donnell, 65, female, native of Brenecia. A very down-to-earth manager who drills humility and discipline into her players, making sure they do the hard yards and don't get carried away with their status. That lead to turning Pikemouth into one of the larger second-tier sides into a consistent UICA challenger. Unfortunately, she lost her way somewhat at Northern Union. With the SRS, she consistently lived up to expectations for four years, but rarely exceeded them. She was let go in her fifth year after a poor start to WC84 qualifying, but a third place finish at IAC8 the year before remains a feather in her cap. She began in AOCAF LX with this squad- while they struggled there, she has made big changes to the squad to mold them in her image for World Cup 85 Qualifying.
Senior Assistant Manager: Xavier Mosobo. 42 years old, male, native of Banija.
Captain: Hibbaan al-Shareef
Alternate Captain: Mohan Thakshak.
Home Kits: Red
Away Kits: Black
Alternate: White

Lakiska City Field
Image

The stadium is located in the nation's capitol, and the largest city on the South Island of Lakiska. It has a capacity of 31,000, and is host to Lakiska Sporting Club, the only team from the Busoga Islands in the Banijan Soccer League.

Orange Field
Image

The stadium is located in the country's largest city, Dukuma, and is on the North Island. it has a capacity of 17,000, and it is host to Dukuma Sporting Club, who competes in the Banijan Northwestern League, one of four regional leagues in the second tier of the Banijan/Busogan pyramid, and who are the reigning champions of the RBSA Cup.

Dukuma Oval
Image
Capacity of 63,000, located in Dukuma, North Island

This is primarily a cricket stadium. It is also located in Dukuma, on the North Island. It is most famous for being the host of the World Twenty20 X Final. However, it will be converted for use for football during World Cup Qualifying, to host exactly one game, due to its significantly superior capacity in comparison to any other stadium on the North Island. It will host the Squornshelous Remnant States match due to both their status as a serious competitor for one of the group's two qualifying spots, and the intrigue of hosting their manager's previous squad.

Lakiska City Cricket Park
Image
Capacity of 54,000, located in Lakiska, South Island

This park is also primarily a cricket ground. This is in the nation's capitol, Lakiska, on the South Island. The stadium has hosted exactly two World Cup Qualifiers, hosting a game against Vilita in World Cup 83 Qualifying, and a game against Chromatika in World Cup 84 Qualifying. Thanks to its superior capacity, it will be used for a pair of designated 'big games' in the second half of Qualifying, as BISA look to increase their home field advantage during the stretch run.

Stadiums
Sun Stadium (National Stadium of Barunia), Porthaven - Capacity: 95,000. Location: Porthaven, Havenia
Sun Stadium is the national stadium of Barunia, and the home of the national team, the Barunian Suns. In honour of these illustrious tenants, the stadium has a strong sun motif. This includes the seat patterning, which represents a yellow sun in a blue sky, and the golden "sunburst" roof. The stadium is multi-purpose too, creating a vibrant sports hub for the capital. It was the obvious choice to hold the grand final of the 66th Baptism of Fire.

Will Host: Sargossa, Cassadaigua, Kelssek,

Bayview Stadium - Capacity 70,000. Location: Bayview, Tildos
Bayview Stadium is home to the West Bay Mariners, one of the powerhouses of Barunia's domestic league system. It is located in the town of Bayview, in the West Bay area of Tildos. The stadium is situated on a mountain overlooking Morgan Bay, and is considered to have one of the best views of any stadium in Barunia. Only a recent addition to Barunia’s World Cup tour, where it replaced Newland’s Blackrock Stadium, Bayview has proven a popular destination for both local and foreign fans.

Will Host: Ziwania, Patistan, Grod Island

Memorial Stadium - Capacity: 100,000. Location: Edwardton, Marion
Home to both the Marion Hawks and the Edwardtion Eagles, the box-shape and grille-like cladding of Memorial Stadium has earned it the nickname of “The Birdcage”. The largest football stadium in Barunia, Memorial Stadium is named in honour of those who fought in the civil war. Memorial stadium was built by Kytlerian company BNW Varin and features a retractable roof, 90,000 seats plus terraces, plenty of room for foreign media and large movable screens at the back of the top tier.
Image

Will Host: Olastor, Timuria, Xuzuqiy

Sam Garcia Field (Northport Sports Complex) - Capacity: 43,000. Location: Northport-San Baptiste, Northern Isles
Located in the city of Northport-San Baptise in the Northern Islands, this ground is the sacred heart of Barunian football. Often considered to be the place where football in Barunia originated, it's a ground known for firsts, hosting all home matches during the Suns inaugural World Cup campaign (due to it being the only safe ground during the civil war) and is the home of the San Baptiste Sea Lions, the first Barunian Football League championship team. Named in memory of former Sea Lions and Suns goalkeeper Sam Garcia, the main pitch at the Northport Sports Complex is ready to once again provide plenty of firsts.

Vilita Roster for World Cup 85 Qualifying

Postby Vilita » Mon May 25, 2020 1:38 pm

Image

Image
The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium (87,000 Seating Capacity) in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali-Ring. The Tivali-Ring complex was constructed as part of the Vilitan bid to host the World Cup 14 Cup of Harmony as a replacement to the former National Stadium in Lopinka that was destroyed during a regional conflict. 'The Ring' has since hosted countless international matches including high profile matches such as the World Cup 31 Final and the 40th Series 'B' Champions Cup Final.

Despite being based at the Ring, The Football Association of Vilita regularly schedule matches at arenas throughout Vilita, especially bigger matches as many of the stadiums that host Stellar Division and UICA competition matches have expanded far beyond the 87,000 capacity of the National Stadium at Tivali-Ring, which is used only for the National Team, and, domestically for the Vilitan Cup Final and Tropical Trophy matchups. The Football Association typically releases a stadium schedule when applicable.

Note: The Home match against Krytenia on Matchday 7 will be played at the Lirai Asku Castle in Yeaddin, Vilita. Other venue changes will be announced in the RP thread as they are finalized.

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

Vilita will often play in a traditionally Vilitan 3-1-4-2 formation with a style modifier of +3.14. Against weaker opposition they may instead play a 3-4-3.

Press Note: The Vilita National Team Official Roster Sheet was overhauled prior World Cup 82 to include both Caps, Goals & Clean Sheets for the Vilitan National Team as well as Caps, Goals & Clean Sheets accrued while playing for the Vilita & Turori unified team as a separate statistical category. For many players, only Caps, Goals and Clean Sheets earned since AOCAF 50 are included amongst the Vilita & Turori statistics. If a player's information is misrepresented or incomplete we are confident the error is only typographical. Please submit any corrections to the Vilitan National Sports Desk.

A member of the Canopii family of Vilitan Goalkeepers, Canopii broke through during World Cup 77 and quickly became known as the 'Shutout King' helping lift the Jungle Cats to the World Cup 77 title. Like his namesake Jungrii Canopii who spent many seasons at Eastal Lunar before finishing out their career with the Yeaddin Owls; Mako Canopii also helped guide the Yeaddin Owls back into relevance in the Vilitan League backstopping the team to a 4th place finish in Season 52 as well as Semi-Final appearances in the Vilitan Cup.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

The departure of Kasper Molak under very humiliating circumstances (namely following the shock defeat by Abanhfleft at the hands of whipping boys Braxil) has marked the end of an era in the national team's history. Holly Jonasson, the Armeian-Anglatian named as Molak's successor, managed to lead the team to third place in their qualifying group in WC 74 and a quarterfinals spot in Cup of Harmony 66, but the men's team was not overly keen in having Jonasson at the helm of their team, and so for the first time in their history as a member of the NationStates World Cup, Abanhfleft will be having separate managers for the men's and women's teams. Ranulph Bustamante, who was an assistant manager under Molak's tenure, becomes the men's new manager, while Jonasson keeps her spot as the women's team's manager. Bustamante has promised to follow in his predecessor's footsteps with regards to playing attractive attacking football, and while his tactics have translated well to the field, there is still the matter of getting past the group stage of the World Cup finals. And there are also rumors floating around that this could very well be Bustamante's final shot at a World Cup. Can Bustamante finally get his boys to get over that particular hump this time? Or will the group stage prove to be the furthest that the Fleftics can get? Only time will tell...

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3
Formation: 4-3-1-2
Head coach: Ranulph Bustamante (58 y/o, Abanhfleft)

STARTERS
GK: Carlos COHEN 35 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image, co-captain
Carlos did pretty well for himself while he starred in the Di Bradini Cup in Abanhfleft's first few sporting forays into the greater multiverse. But once he became ineligible for the Di Bradini Cup due to his age, he found his struggle to break through the senior national team blocked by the very same obstacle which was blocking his ascension to the first team of Sporting Ceneisis: none other than the Blues' stalwart goalkeeper and captain Maksim Varamoninov. The long-limbed and long-necked keeper held down Ceneisis' number one spot for so many years that Carlos must have surely contemplated moving to another club just to become first-choice keeper. But then Fluvique and Mevosa came swooping in with a big offer for Big Maksim and both Maksim and Ceneisis were crazy not to accept the offer, and that is the story of how Carlos Cohen finally became Ceneisis' number one. Sure, Maksim came back to Abanhfleft after a few years when a Catastrophic Termination Event swept through Fluvique but he signed for Arsenal de Releinthi instead so Carlos continues to be Ceneisis' number one.

LB: Daisuke OGIGAYATSU 31 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
Daisuke Ogigayatsu is the younger brother of Flardanian striker Eriko Ogigayatsu, who is one of the star strikers of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies (alongside Zsofia Dolan and Tess Byquist). Daisuke is the only member of the Ogigayatsu family who was born in Abanhfleft, which made him eligible to represent the country by nature of the law which automatically grants Fleftic citizenship to everyone born within Fleftic borders. Daisuke is a speedy fullback whose bags of pace allow him to keep up with the offense of the team while at the same time not shirking from his defensive responsibilities. So far, he's been overlooked by the SFA, but Heinrich Wurzmann hopes that Daisuke will shine enough in the Independents Cup to warrant a real call-up for the real national team. That hope has now come true come the World Cup 77 qualifiers.

LCB: Ainsley GIBSON 31 y/o, 1830 Cathair Image (Audioslavia)
Gibson has large shoes to fill in following the graduation of Rory Edwards to the senior team and Celerino delos Reyes' decision to give the captain's armband to Gibson. Perhaps delos Reyes would have been better off if he had given the armband to Cedric Pearson or Joe Warren, but after Gibson's commanding performance as captain of the under-18s, Owen Bevan would have none of it. Gibson is a speedy center-back, which used to serve as the perfect foil to Kristin Pittmann's rock-solid presence on the pitch, but with Pittmann now ineligible, he's had to work hard to limit his attacking runs, especially now that this tendency of his was exploited by Pasarga in that fateful round of 16 matchup. Somehow managed to get a move from mid-table Submarin Yeralenko in Pridnestrovia to Audioslavia's 1830 Cathair despite all that.

RCB: Horace POPOV 30 y/o, Farrenton Athletic Image (Eura)
A member of the Fleftic under-21 team's backroom staff happened upon Popov while playing Championship Football Manager and noticed that the kid had high defensive potential. Popov is still a diamond in the rough, but some experience under the wing of Melisizwe Afolayan could see him become a potential star. Whether it's for his mother's homeland Abanhfleft or his birth country Pridnestrovia still remains to be seen, but for now, while he's still under the age of 21, he's Abanhfleft's man. With Afolayan now ineligible, it's up to Popov to make an impact that will keep him in a white shirt. Injuries to Jordan Cervantes and Holland Emilianovski have necessitated Popov's inclusion into the senior team where he hopes to make a very good impact.

RB: Melisizwe AFOLAYAN 32 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur Image
Afolayan is a no-nonsense defender that doesn't take being skilled around by the opponent lightly. If the opponent begins skilling his or her way around Afolayan then he will just stick out a leg and trip over the opponent, which has led to a disciplinary record filled with yellow cards and the occasional red card. The Rodrigues management claims that Afolayan has the potential to be a wing-back due to his high offensive work rate, but only time will tell if this will become true. Signed by Locomotive Imgortur as a long-term replacement for Charles Amoroso and was a fixture in Abanhfleft's early Di Bradini squads before finally making the cut with the senior national team.

LM: Andrea MARILUNGO 31 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Malabon is not generally considered to have one of the better football academies within the Fleftic football system, and Adelmio Bandini isn't also noted for being the type of manager to promote from within the club, but Marilungo proved to be the exception to both these rules. Although he's more of a central midfielder for Malabon, his wicked good left foot means that Ranulph Bustamante has put in the left midfield where he can put his defensive qualities to good use and cover for his fellow youngsters Daisuke Ogigayatsu and Kenneth Owobowale. But that doesn't mean Marilungo can't come forward and help on the offense as well.

CM: Luĉjo Miĥaelo KLEINMANN 29 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Kleinmann is finally in the starting eleven of a Fleftic national team, much to the relief of Malabon SC fanboys as well as Kleinmann fanboys even thought it's not the official starting eleven of Ranulph Bustamante. Everyone knows how good he is as a central defensive mid, and now he has proven that he can do it on a regular basis after finally earning the starting spot that the now-ineligible Joe Warren once occupied. Well, except for the fact that he was completely and utterly shit in the big game against Pasarga. Is he really as good as people think he is, or is he just another hyped-up talent who can't perform in the big games? Everyone from Ranulph Bustamante to the armchair managers sitting at home in Abanhfleft will soon find out.

RM: Cedric PEARSON 33 y/o, Samaj FC Image (Cosumar)
One of the four remaining starters of the original Fleftic Di Bradini squad, Pearson used to be one of the more questionable choices in the starting eleven back when the under-21s first competed in international football, but with age and experience he is starting to prove his doubters wrong, but with a history of being injury-prone Pearson hasn't been able to show good performances for an entire season. His presence will help lock up the midfield, but if he gets injured the Fleftic right side will prove vulnerable. Ced eventually grew tired of being constantly in a relegation battle with Bananas FC and decided to move to Cosumar's Samaj FC when the opportunity came knocking despite interest from FC Brimstone over in Apox as well.

CAM: Rory EDWARDS 34 y/o, Riuwiee United Image, co-captain
Consistent for the three years that he'd been playing for the under-21s but never quite managing to lead them to the title, the younger Edwards sibling has made his mark, but will certainly look to make that mark bigger with his inclusion into the first team of the senior squad. His main job will be feeding Potter and Kelvin, but he can and does score some goals from his position. He has the future to be either a false 9 or an actual striker in his own right.

CF: Kareem DAGEN 29 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Image
Dagen can be described as the breakout player of the first Sporting World Cup, scoring 10 goals and leading Abanhfleft to second place in the aforementioned tournament. His amazing performance as a striker led to his signing by Eikborg Club, a Semarlandish club competing in the Globe Cup, making him the first ever Fleftic player to sign for a foreign league other than Pridnestrovia, Oontaz Dert Li Ng and Copper Cuprum. Dagen's quality performance in the Sporting World Cup also earned him a starting spot in the Fleftic under-21s, over the likes of Garrett Krantz and Irina Babarushchik. Now he's starting because those other players are now ineligible as well. After a few years with Eikborg, Dagen has gone back to Rosenpfelblatz on the promise of first team minutes and playing alongside the likes of Max Fetfatzidis and Oliver Ganson.

FW: Damian SELIKOV 28 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
Damian Selikov holds a strange place in the hearts and minds of many Ludogorets fans. He's not the best striker their team has ever had, but he's far from being the worst either. The fanbase is also equally split on whether he is a big-game player or not; those who love him say that he always turns up for the big games while those who hate him claim that Selikov always disappears during the big games. It's come to the point where Markovskites have a saying about him: "He will always make you go crazy, but you never know if it's a good thing or a bad thing." Nonetheless, Selikov appears to have won over the entire fanbase after his deciding goal against Admiral Porcusces won Ludogorets both the game and the Fleftic Premier League title. At the moment though, nobody has any idea how Ranulph Bustamante hopes to utilize him for the national team.

RESERVES
GK: Guildenstern CARDEW 24 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image
Guildenstern Cardew is the younger brother of former Panem striker Silvia Cardew. After Panem was enveloped by a mysterious Catastrophic Termination Event (or CTE), the Cardews eventually managed to wind up on the shores of the Fhulghamous Peninsula Colony along with a large number of their fellow Panemian nationals. Guildenstern was eventually picked up by Besanza Emeralds FC of the Fhulghamousian Premier League. Guildenstern decided to emulate his Panemian idol Walnut Durant and become a goalkeeper even though his sister Silvia is a striker. Guildenstern is also very close friends with Marius Rosenkrantz the soccer player but never got around to telling Marius his true feelings until it was too late. Will this affect him throughout the qualification period?

GK: Roy RINEY 23 y/o, New Llama Capitals Image (Super-Llamaland)
Now this is probably a sight that you didn't expect to see; a 17-year-old among a bunch of mostly twenty-years-plus players with the odd teenager here and there. Roy is the youngest member of Ranulph Bustamante's experimental Independents Cup squad but not by a big margin as the next-youngest player to him is fellow reserve goalkeeper Guildenstern Cardew. Usually, people would be questioning the inclusion of such a young player in a representative football team but once Ranulph Bustamante took over managing Abanhfleft and unearthed such gems as Robin Riedewald and Tanaka Okamoto, no one questions his decisions anymore. Besides, Riney must have done something right for Ranulph to even consider calling him up, even if it is just for the Independents Cup. Not that Ranulph thinks that the Independents Cup is a nothing trophy; it's still a trophy after all for those nations who aren't affiliated with the Big Three regions of Esportiva, Rushmore, and Atlantian Oceania.

RB: Rohan SMITH 31 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image
The signing of Rohan Smith by Arsenal de Releinthi made news back in the day, mostly because of how much Arsenal persisted in making sure the deal crossed the line and Smith put pen to paper. How an 18-year-old in the depths of non-league could warrant such a long and extended pursuit had many pundits and armchair managers scratching their heads, but more than a decade later, those same pundits and armchair managers are now singing Smith's praises, especially during Arsenal de Releinthi's back-to-back title-winning seasons just a few years ago. Ranulph Bustamante will expect Smith to continue his defensive solidity throughout the qualifiers.

CB: Charles VIGER 31 y/o, AFC Langtree Image (Mercedini)
Charlie Viger used to be one of the brightest prospects among defenders in the under-18 group of both Fleftic and Pridnestrovian players and was already knocking on the door of the first team of Vorpommern Nyqvist of the Pridnestrovian Super League looking to become one of the team and league's best young defenders. Then the final of the first ever Sporting World Cup happened and Charlie was part of the Abanhfleft team that conceded five goals against eventual champions Semarland. Charlie's confidence took a very noticeable nosedive and everything that marked him out as a defender for the future vanished and he was eventually released by the club, ending up across the Rheinsee with Kesselburger Kickers. But Ranulph Bustamante still must see the potential in Charlie to warrant an inclusion with the Independents Cup squad. Perhaps Ranulph hopes to re-unearth Charlie's once-again-hidden talent.

LB: Caleb WAYNE 27 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Caleb isn't a regular starter for any of the junior squads before this, but the few substitute appearances that he made from the bench earned him a big money move to Fluvique's Darwin City (3 million NSD, to be exact). Like many of the defensive players coming through Abanhfleft's academies in recent times, Caleb is a defender, specifically a left back, who likes to bomb forward when the opportunity arises, although he does do his defensive duties as well if called upon, thus giving him the potential to be a wingback or even a winger. He's also quite good in the air and could be relied on when defending set pieces or winning air balls. Now plays for Wanda Island Wanderers after a Catastrophic Termination Event engulfed Fluvique and left him among one of the few survivors.

DM: Andor GAÁL 27 y/o, Malabon SC Image
Lucjo Kleinmann's fellow Malabonian "wunderkind" is finally stepping up to the plate after spending a lot of time languishing on the bench of the under-18 and under-21 teams. But unlike Lucjo, who is the kind of central midfielder who gets in between the opposition's passing lanes and works to disrupt their offensive rhythm and win the ball, Andor is more of a box-to-box midfielder, chipping in on defensive duties when needed and ready to restart the attack when the ball gets poked out of the final third by the opponents. He's also good for a long-range shot, especially from his left foot, and he has scored his fair share of screamers. He will look to do so for his country on the senior level thanks to Ranulph Bustamante's belief in his ability.

CM: DeAngelo LEVIN 31 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Image
It's been eight years since DeAngelo Levin last wore an Abanhfleft team jersey, eight long years for some people. But after his impressive performances helping Ludogorets Markovsky to their third Fleftic Premier League title and with many of Abanhfleft's old stalwarts hanging up their boots, Levin has been called back to duty by Ranulph Bustamante, and while he will look to play a supporting role in the qualifiers, depending on what happens Levin could just find yet another chance to make it back to the Revolutionaries' starting eleven.

CM: Toumain VINCELOT 32 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Image
Toumain Vincelot is originally from the Anglatian colony of Patierre. His family fled to Abanhfleft after the Anglatians removed the Communist presence in the colony because the Vincelots had been known socialist sympathizers, although Toumain himself is apolitical. Vincelot is a tough, no-nonsense defensive-minded midfielder and will think nothing of going in for the sliding tackle if it meant breaking up the opposition's attack. Following stellar performances in the Independents Cup in Bonesea (including at least two Man of the Match awards), Vincelot has been called up to the senior national squad to replace the injured Alan Turpentine. Now sidelined for the entirety of the World Cup due to an injury sustained during a match against Revolutionary Nordskania.

CAM: Omar EL SALAH 31 y/o, General Santos FC Image (Oontaz), on loan from Arsenal de Releinthi Image
Arsenal and Godric Wexler have always had a reputation for producing good players from their academy's ranks, and while Omar El Salah hasn't been on anyone's radars before last season, when El Salah came out to play in a few Premier League games to fill in for the injured Elliot Edison, and he has proven to be one of the better things about Arsenal's disappointing season. He scored his debut goal against Marinos Thimpodopoulos to give them a victory against their bogey team, and then El Salah scored his first goal in the Monsanto Stadium against Kimmirut Panhandle, the team that had knocked them out of the SFA Cup just a week earlier. El Salah is speedy and has great composure and finishing which belies his young age, but with many other good players ahead of him, he will have to wait for a few games before earning his first cap.

FW: Arthur MacALISTAIR 27 y/o, Wanda Island Wanderers Image
Arthur started his career as a left-sided midfielder but eventually found himself becoming a great winger, even if just for the under-18 and under-21 squad. His few substitute appearances during the latest Di Bradini Cup earned him a move to Fluvique's Athletic, where is now getting some more first-team minutes than he could have possibly expected from his first club. Owen Bevan got the most out of Arthur in the second Sporting World Cup as a winger, but was shifted back in deep midfield by Celerino delos Reyes, but for his first senior team roster mention, he's expected to be at least a winger once again. Replaces the totally and completely unused Yoshinobu Mori.

FW: Mustafa BENSOUSSAN 22 y/o, Bananas FC Image
With four goals in four games for Abanhfleft's most recent Di Bradini Cup, it was pretty much guaranteed that Bensoussan was going to get called up to the senior team sooner or later, and herein lies the proof. As always with his bench players, Ranulph Bustamante expects Bensoussan to take up the slack for when either Kareem Dagen or Vitaly Zima are subbed off, but he Bensoussan could also expect to get the occasional start or two if either Abanhfleft is flying high or the team's two starting strikers are struggling for form.

STADIUMS
All football stadiums in Abanhfleft now have seats following a mandatory upgrade in 2000, but despite this ruling, many, if not all, stadiums still allow standing spectators during matches. However, in anticipation for World Cup qualifying matches, more security forces had been hired by the authorities to make sure that there are no standing spectators in such games.

Capacity: est. 67,000
Record attendance: 72,308 (Riuwiee United vs. Wanda Island Wanderers; June 3, 2009)
Operator: Riuwiee United FC
Short history: The May 26 Stadium, originally known as Raschner Lane, and later on as Riuwiee National Stadium, was built in 1886 as a cricket ground, and it served as home for two semi-pro cricket teams before it was bought by the Riuwiee Capitals football team, which will later on become Riuwiee United. After the conclusion of the Catholic Revolution of 2008, the national government bought the controlling share of Riuwiee National Stadium and renamed it the May 26 Revolution Memorial Stadium, in commemoration of the May 26 Revolution that eventually established the nation of Abanhfleft. Riuwiee United still play in the May 26 Stadium, but now it is also the chosen stadium for home games by the Fleftic national football team.

Construction began in 1999, and finished just in time for the beginning of the 2001 Premier League season. The Wanderers played in a nearby high school athletic field for the duration of the arena's construction. In 2010, when IKEA entered into a sponsorship agreement with the Wanderers, the arena was consequently called IKEA Arena for sponsorship reasons. This agreement is expected to continue until 2020, after both sides came to a six-year contract extension.

Even then, it was only after Monsanto agreed to shoulder the cost of the new stadium that it was even built, and because of this, the stadium was named Monsanto Stadium. Arsenal de Releinthi and Monsanto entered into a seven-year contract extension this year, potentially extending Monsanto's sponsorship of the club up to 2021.

Turori Roster for World Cup 85 Qualifying

Postby Turori » Tue May 26, 2020 2:18 am

OOC: Well apparently this isn't posted. Which doesn't make sense because it was submitted before MD1 and my field-filler is telling me I've already done this before...

So either the database warped after I posted it or some recaptcha stupidity screwed it up. Anyway, now I know why it wasn't linked in the Group thread.

Turori National Team

Head Coach: Klaillal Tuirma
Descendant of Season 4 Turorian Player of the Season and National team legend Cuolia Tuirma, Klaillal often partnered on the pitch with Restiia Mumamba as an "All-Around" player for the Turori National Team. After being brought up through the academy system at Kionao, Tuirma signed a professional contract with Colonial Sile in Vilita for Season 35, winning silverware in the first match, the Tropical Trophy triumph over Strike. Tuirma's stay in Sile didn't last long, however, coaxed back to the luxury of Arcticala Inlet to help in their Champions-Cup qualifying campaign of Season 38. Tuirma returned to Turori during Season 44 as a member of Mliona-Lpaka AFC. Tuirma retired from international competition after winning the 67th Cup of Harmony with Turori. Playing in a unique role throughout their career - being expected to be able to play every game, in every position - even Goalkeeper, if there were no subs left - resulted in a deep understanding of each position on the pitch and the nuances that made each position different setting Tuirma up to be a well respected coach, ultimately getting the nod as the head coach of Turori's National Citizen Squad.

Tuirma has led Turori from out behind the shadow of the chains that held them back for generations, leading the team to their first ever Quarter Final victory, their first ever Semi-Final victory and first ever World Cup Final appearance during World Cup 82. Now, in Equestrian States and Banija, Tuirma has just one more accomplishment standing between them and a larger than life statue outside Eels Park in Eelandii: The World Cup Title.

Nickname: The Eels

Style: -1.23

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

Note 'Caps" are shown are currently on record for Turorian Players on from the start of World Cup 80 due to federation budget re-allocations during this time period to the Cocoabo Enrichment & Enhancement Project (CEEP)

After a few seasons in Apox, Akarenaa returned closer to home moving back to Atlantian Oceania to join Cosumarite club Real Azuris.

OOC: Due to the poor performance of the U-21 team at the Independents Cup, Theriault decided to retain the same team for this WC. Add 1 to every player and cheerleader's age. I've listed 12 stadiums below for my 12 group stage opponents. My opponent should feel free to choose what stadium their match is at on the condition that it is only 1 Republican home match at each stadium, First Come, First Serve.

Republican National Soccer Team, LLC

Image

NOTE: The Republican National Team will only play a full-strength lineup in Qualifying against the higher seeds or in must-win matches. Against weaker opposition, some backups will see playing time in the interest of keeping the starters fresh for the World Cup Finals. With the longer qualifying cycle this time, the backups will be seeing even more playing time than usual. If the Republicans are playing a BoF side and are scheduled to play a top seed in their next match, they will likely be picking a starting 11 from the bench. All 30 players will see the pitch in at least a few qualifying matches.

Notes

After two years away from international soccer, Republican National Soccer Team, LLC reformed two years ago just as its owner and sole proprietor was awarded the title of Soccer General by Consul Kyle Bolton. Soccer General Rule Theriault held open tryouts throughout the FFR to find the best young soccer players and the hottest high school cheerleaders in the Federation and get them under contract to Republican National Soccer Team, LLC. After travelling across the Federation and holding 60 open tryouts, a total of 27 soccer players and 68 cheerleaders were selected for the team based on their performance, (in the case of the soccer players) game tape and discussions with their coaches. At this time, Theriault is unsure whether any of the players stand out above the rest but he is hopeful that they will be responsible to coaching from the first Soccer General in the history of the Free Republics and his legendary assistant manager Sir Koby Theodore, who shined so memorably in World Cups 68 and 71. While rumor has it that looks were a factor in selecting both the soccer team and the cheerleading squad, Soccer General Rule Theriault denies rumors that Nova Hellstrom-Hancock and Lucia Bolton had a role in selecting players for the soccer team, though he does admit that Sir Koby Theodore and Consul Kyle Bolton hand-picked the cheerleaders.

In the year since World Cup 78, the Free Republics fell into a civil war. Political tensions that had been brewing for a long time between the political mainstream and the progressive left finally boiled over at the Unite the Left rally in Goldberg, Nejax. The small college town, home to the University of Nejax, was the site of disturbing political violence as an extreme progressive ran over 5 people, including University of Nejax pitcher Jurgen Eberhardt, the ace of the school's baseball team. A wave of left-wing domestic terror followed, leading to the passage of the Stop Aggressive Violent Extremism (SAVE) Act which granted extraordinary powers to the Federation Investigation Bureau (FIB) to protect public safety. 32 Republics responded to this by seceding from the FFR to form the Confederacy of Leftist Republics, which quickly became a state sponsor of terror. In the months since, the Republican armed forces have lost battle after battle to the Confederates and the FFR has suffered from many acts of terror, some of which, such as the destruction of the entries into international tournaments of the National Baseball Team and the National Hockey Team have had serious repercussions for Republican international sports. Eventually, the Leftist Republics were defeated and their territory turned into extremist containment zones known as "Charter Societies" as part of an effort to end political extremism in the Free Republics.

As the civil war was going on within the Free Republics, the National Soccer Team somehow managed to qualify for the World Cup, shocking almost everybody throughout the multiverse. However, they did not lost all 3 of their group stage matches that year and very much looked like a fluke qualifier. Last year, the Republican National Team headed into the Independents Cup in Schottia last year, where they announced their return to respectability in international soccer by winning the tournament, albeit with a fairly controversial victory over Mercedini and a poor group stage performance along the way. Then, they managed to qualify for the World Cup again in rather ugly fashion, drawing their first 4 matches, going just 8-7-3 in qualifying and barely managing to finish 3rd in their group. After defeating Apox rather easily in a playoff, they proceeded to lose 2 more World Cup group stage matches before drawing Abanhfleft in a meaningless match on the final day. 2 years ago saw the Republican National Team pick up 3rd place finishes at the Independents Cup, Cup of Champions and World Cup, all of which were held on home soil. 2 years ago was disappointing with the Republicans going out during the group stage at both the Independents Cup and World Cup. Last year's Independents Cup saw the Republicans go out in the Quarterfinals against Kavagrad and the World Cup saw the Republicans introduce a new fight song, win their opening match against Mercedini convincingly and then proceed to lose 2 straight matches and go out again in the group stage. This year, the Republicans would be knocked out by Drawkland in the Quarterfinals of the Independents Cup before the U-18 team unexpectedly finished third at the Sporting World Cup with Archie White, Faith Marshall and Amy Ashbolt earning spots on the roster.

Notes

Between their appearances in the 24th and 32nd editions of the Copa Rushmori, Saintland underwent two time warps with over 50 years elapsing. In the years that elapsed, Saintland split into the Feministvs Sanctvsterra-run west and the Church of Saintland-run east which were eventually unified under the eastern government after King Petrus XX (now officially regarded as a usurper and heretic) died without a male heir and King Paulus XVI, son of King Andreas, refused to recognize the legitimacy of the law permitting Petrus's daughters to take the throne. After conquering Saintland, King Paulus XVI has restored the Church of Saintland to its legally dominant position and has pursued a course slightly more traditional than that of his grandfather. Sanctii time now runs at the same pace as Republican time (OOC: 1 year per WC).

The quality of Sanctii soccer has declined precipitously in recent years as baseball has become the most popular sport due to King Paulus XVI's legendary status in that sport. While King Paulus XVI's son Prince Andreas is tearing up youth soccer at the moment and may one day follow in his grandfather's footsteps, he was nowhere near ready for international competition which means that Saintland returned to international play with a young defensive-oriented team led by goalkeeper Alessandro Suedius, the young goalkeeper for the St. Nicolaus team that had won the Sanctii league championship 3 years straight. Suedius selected a team of younger stars from the Sanctii league due to the low expectations surrounding the team. After being held back in high school for a year due to his conduct, the now 21 year old Prince Andreas has led St. Petrus to a domestic title and will be permitted to join the National Soccer Team at World Cup 85. For the 34th edition of the Copa Rushmori, the same team that scored the fewest goals in both World Cup 84 qualifying and Cup of Harmony 76 will be returning. They also finished with the fewest goals conceded in Cup of Harmony 76 and as one of the top defensive sides in World Cup 84 qualifying.

The team is built around conservative, physical, defensive play. If the officials allow rough play, this Sanctii team will take advantage of it to frustrate attack-oriented opposition with a steady diet of borderline dirty tackles. As for the team itself, none of the players particularly stand out other than Suedius and Suedius will shuffle players in and out on a regular basis. The starters listed are the most likely starters but that exact lineup will almost never be the lineup Suedius goes with for an actual match.

One week before any visitor arrives at the Field of Dreams, they'd receive a Teleportation Scroll in their mail; the team, its retinue, and one film crew would be allowed to teleport to the Field of Dreams. The Field of Dreams is a regulation-sized pitch where all the film crew's electronics would be fueled by the realm's magic; the crew would be allowed to broadcast the match, but that would be all. No other visitors of any kind are allowed in the Plane of Possibility.

Right: An artist's rendition of Solara Vol, star Mrii striker (in her Sabrefell Moths duds).
Style: 4-4-2, +1.5
Nickname: the Reavers

Note that most players are satyrs, as pictured, though with a variety of skins tones--mostly in various shades of blue, purple, and red. They're on average very tall, along the lines of human professional basketball players, and specialize in aerial play thanks to the elevated header control courtesy of their horns. Their stature also lends itself to a fast and aggressive attacking game, leveraging long strides, high stamina, and imposing presence to pressure and wear down the opposition. While there are certain Mrii who show a phenomenal amount of dexterity on the ball, they're generally the strikers; small, quick humans that can "get under" Mrii backs have been a problem spot for the team, though under Tailtiu Brennan's tutelage they've become much more adept at punishing mistakes with brutal counterattacks.

STARTERS

#1 - Berény Phelede - GK - Age 27 - Image René Skaé Image
IPA: /bəˈʁeni ˈfəled/

Phelede has transitional goalkeeper written all over him. He's starting because Íüé Tgô decided to retire after pulling off one of the most sensational performances by a goalkeeper in all of history. In reality, Tgô was only good for that one match, but it was a World Cup final, and that makes his shoes impossible to fill. Farfadillis has only ever had four starting goalkeepers, and they all had very lengthy international careers. With both goalkeepers on the bench showing a higher ceiling, Berény looks likely to buck the trend. But hey, he's still got solid reflexes and is good at organizing the otherwise horribly disorganized defense.

#6 - Baldomero Teijeiro - LB - Age 28 - Image Crawford City Image
IPA: /baldoˈmeɾo teiˈxeiɾo/

For better or worse, la Vherderoja has to have a crazily reckless "fullback". Teijeiro is just about good enough for it to (mostly) not backfire terribly. An enviable ability to always just about not fuck up completely in defense, coupled with the best offensive skillset of any fullback in the Cosumarite league, if not the Multiverse, make Teijeiro the go-to option in this role. His crosses, in particular, are very dangerous; specially so when they find Holsteiner. He can whip them, he can float them, and he can make them rain if his flank is left unattended. More than one game has been cracked wide open because the opponents underestimating him.

#2 - Çìríkò Ûsêtêrnìx - CB - Age 28 - Image FC Felsenkirchen 1879 Image
IPA: /t͡sĭˈɾikŏ uăˈseăteăɾnĭʃ/

Ûsêtêrnìx has big boots to fill: he is replacing one of only two Farf centerbacks to have managed to hold the line decently, and one that lead the defense to a World Cup win no less. He is very much not in Bajnok's mold: he isn't as physical, but much more capable with the ball. He's not as aggressive as a player, and is not as tactically-astute, but compensates for that with athleticism and a tendency to go for sliding tackles which we really, really hope doesn't backfire. He could reasonably play as a center midfielder in a pinch. He's certainly got the skillset.

#4 - Ezequiel Marchiondo - RB - Age 30 - Image Jungle Strike Image
IPA: /eseˈkiel maɾˈt͡ʃjondo/

Every team needs a sane player, even Farfadillis. Ezequiel fulfills that role... to a degree. He is what most nations would consider a great wingback: he defends well, and makes valuable contributions to the attack, but not to the detriment of the whole team. He has been consistently putting in quiet, but good performances for almost a decade now. The epitome of a 7/10 player, if there ever was one. For a team like this one, a guaranteed 7/10 at the back is invaluable: the attack can take care of the rest.

#5 - Sürgân t'Öéséné - CM - Age 27 - Image Marine Coast Image
IPA: /ˈsʏɾɡa:n toe:iˈsene/

A very dependable player. Unlike most Farves, Sürgân does not have a crazy style of play: he's quite measured in his decisions, and never lets pressure get to him. He is the smartest player in the team, and is always in charge of the tempo with which Farfadillis plays. As the most "defensive" midfielder in the line-up, he will also be tasked with
trying to keep the control of the midfield when not in possession. Overall, an unenviable role, which he pulls off to almost perfection. It is also one of the most important roles to be filled in la Vherderoja's tactical set-up. Sürgân is the most unsung of the World Cup heroes, perhaps because his club form isn't his international form.

#3 - Ígnîgo Çí Xôrí - CM - Age 20 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
IPA: /ˈigniăgo t͡si ʃoăˈɾi/

Ígnîgo himself is surprised at his inclusion, but it does make sense: Farfadillis has had trouble finding a good center midfielder in recent years, to the point of playing a winger in that position. Ígnîgo is probably the most promising young center midfielder, despite only breaking into Mâ Âlâmëómë's starting eleven halfway through last season. He's got great technique and vision, and is quite decent defensively. He will have to sink or swim this World Cup: expectations are high after winning last edition, to say nothing of being the hosts for this one. Óliver Tijerina crumbled to the pressure in the AOCAF Cup, will Ígnîgo?

#10 - Faragó rue Cazade - TK - Age 27 - Image Brinemouth Image
IPA: /faʁaˈgo ʁu kaˈzad/

Faragó is the team's secret weapon. How much a player this famous can be a secret weapon is debatable, but teams just don't seem to get the hang of him. You know those late runs some attacking midfielders make that give them space and a few seconds so they can shoot? Farago is, Farves argue, indisputably the best player in the Multiverse at this. He plays as a takilante, a position invented by him by his former manager and teacher Ichi Tuzzio. He will press a lot, play roughly as a center midfielder to increase the team's presence in that area, and commit a lot of tactical fouls. With what little energy he has left, he will score, and often. The second-best player in the team, and the clear successor to Xíxì Êns when the Rulandese retires.

#8 - Vínseslâdís Wìjìnì - LW - Age 29 - Image Busukuma AC Image
IPA: /ˌvinsesla:ˈðis ˈwiʒĭnĭ/

Being the son of the most famous terrorist in the history of Farfadillis hasn't stopped Wìjìnì from setting pitches on fire. Figuratively. Without a doubt the most versatile player in the team, Wìjìnì is good at just about any offensive task he gets assigned to do, and is a natural at the intricacies of every role, to the point he hit the ground running as center midfielder last World Cup, putting in very good performances en route to the title. He will now be played in his "natural" position, if such a thing exists for him anymore. In reality, it's the position he used to play when he was younger. As a winger, expect him to use his pace and strong weak foot to cut in and make something happen. Or maybe run down the flank and do some old-fashioned crossing of the ball. You never know with this guy.

#11 - Tôsgo Alxíkí - RW - Age 18 - Image Lâ Lüs Image
IPA: /ˈtoăsɡo alˈʃiki/

Following in the Farf tradition of one insanely talented young prospect popping up as the last one hits his thirties, Tôsgo is here to take on Êns' role in about five years. Not his role as false nine - their skillsets are very different - but his role as the player that always makes something happen, and the undisputed best player of the team. It is too early, of course. He is just eighteen. For now, he's good enough to start, and that's about it. Astonishing pace, great technique, a good shot and fantastic dribbling - coupled with an indomitable will - make him one of the hottest prospects in the Multiverse.

#9 - Xíxì Êns - ST - Age 32 - Image Sabrefell Athletic Image
IPA: /ˈʃiʃĭ eˈãns/

Ask any Farf, and they will tell you Xíxì is one of the best players in history. Whether that is true is very subjective, but it's clear as day why they would say it: Xíxì carried Farfadillis to a World Cup win. He is by far the shortest player on this squad, but that has never stopped him from making a difference. He can turn any game on its head via a well-timed should drop, or an elegant through pass that travels at the exact speed it needs to, or maybe shot that is so well-placed it almost looks like a chip. He scores a lot, and assists nearly as much. His time in Nephara has made him very difficult to shake off the ball. He is fantastic at finding pockets of empty space. Put simply, he is the complete package, if the complete package had to suck at scoring headers. And yes, he is currently, the Galáctico too.

#7 - Oskar Holsteiner - ST - Age 31 - Image Holdenberg Image
IPA: /ˈuskar holʃˈtaɪnɐ/

Some players are just much better when representing their country, and Oskar Holsteiner is one such case. The striker is definitely almost World Class: he leads the line for a powerful, though not quite that powerful Euran club like Holdenberg. He wouldn't walk into every single starting eleven in the Multiverse, but it's fair to say he'd make every bench. His qualities? Fast, strong, cold-blooded. A real terminator. He's got a penchant for riling up opposing players: if Farfadillis win a game by making it a chaotic affair, it will be because of him. He has a lethal partnership up front with Xíxì Êns, almost psionic, one could say, as evidenced by their combined twelve goals in World Cup 84, leading Farfadillis to their first ever World Cup win.

SUBSTITUTES

#12 - Dieje Ibrelaná - GK - Age 22 - Image Urbizania Wanderers Image
IPA: /ˈdieʒe ibɾelaˈna/

After a couple of good seasons playing for some lowly team in Farfadillis, Dieje finally signed for once-giants Urbizania Wanderers. It's anyone's guess how good the Astograthiko Ligartea is nowadays, but it looks like it's good enough to warrant Dieje a spot in this squad. He's an acrobatic goalkeeper with good positioning, but he can be shaky when playing as a sweeper keeper which is, well, not ideal in a team like this. He is young and, much like most Farves, very fast, so he could very well grow into the role nonetheless. For now, he'll have to sit in the bench, though.

#23 - Isak Aanderaa - GK - Age 23 - Image Bruul Skewers Image
IPA: /ˈaɪzək ˈa:ndeɾa:/

A flashy goalkeeper, Isak loves to be the star of the show. Both on and off the pitch. He will try to dribble his way out of the box, and succeed most of the time. He also has terrible positioning, but likes to make up for it with some incredible saves. The talent is there. In reality, Isaak has the potential to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world, if you ask any Farf. Alas, he is very much set in his ways, and they are not good ones.

#15 - Moisés Fermández - LB - Age 28 - Image Bastion Image
IPA: /moiˈses feɾˈmandes/

While Teijeiro has been the starter for a good while now, nobody can deny that Moisés is every bit his equal: the reason he's on the bench is, mostly, that Teijeiro seems to have a tendency to play at his best in the most important matches. Nonetheless, expect Fermández to get a healthy amount of minutes, and to get subbed in whenever Teijeiro shows signs of not having a good day. With Moisés rumored to be a much nicer presence in the dressing room than Baldomero, don't be surprised if Moisés recovers his place in the starting eleven.

#14 - Drì Lsôs - CB - Age 25 - Image Crossroads Image
IPA: /ðɾĭ lsoˈãs/

Perhaps the most attack-oriented centerback Farfadillis has ever produced. Some say Pam is hoping to start fielding a back four, and Lsôs could be instrumental in that transition. It's all speculation at the moment. Drì is a fantastic dribbler and is very good at passing. You'll see him try to surprise his opponents by surging forward every now and then. He's definitely the kamikaze option at the back and, as such, Pam is unlikely to sub him in unless a crazy match is exactly what she is looking for.

#13 - Soirelí der Reneska - RB - Age 26 - Image Ausharmuj Marusi Image
IPA: /swaɾeˈli deɾ reˈneska/

Farfadillis has admittedly had some trouble finding quality righbacks who are not Ezequiel Marchiondo. Soirelí's call up is the result. Soirelí is by no means bad - he could probably cut it at a few decent national teams - but he's clearly the worst player in the squad. Nonetheless, he is quite fast and adept at crossing, so he might see some minutes if and when Pam feels like the team needs to cross the ball more... something which is unlikely, admittedly, but it could happen!

#16 - Lőrensz Ziczi - CM - Age 18 - Image René Skaé Image
IPA: /ˈløːʁenʃ ˈzit͡ʃi/

When the FFFF submitted a fully amateur team to the Eagle's Cup, everyone would've thought they'd lost the plot if anyone had at all believed they'd ever had it in the first place. However, that team's surprisingly good performances, only barely falling short of winning the tournament, have led to the call-up of the guy who showed the most promise. He's now signed for René Skaé and the jump to professionalism; we'll see how he fares. He's definitely got everything necessary to one day become a key player for this team.

#17 - Çè Löjámangó - TK - Age 19 - Image Dí Maozöxê Image
IPA: /t͡sĕ lœˌʒamaŋˈgo/

The takilante position has been around long enough for a few teams to have tried their hand at using it in their set-up. Dí Maozöxê is one such team, and Löjámangó is the bright young prospect they've chosen to turn into the first natural takilante. He can run a lot, is not exactly a bad tackler, and has a great goalscoring record for his age. He's not exactly a poor man's rue Cazade, though: he's a bit slower and shorter, but also potentially a better dribbler and marker. We'll see what the future holds for Çè, but he has a ridiculously high ceiling, and Pam knows that.

#21 - Emiliano Gallegas - LW - Age 19 - Image La Nueva Avenida Image
IPA: /emiˈljano gaˈʃegas/

A winger with insane pace and a lot of attitude. His pace alone makes him hard to control, but add in good dribbling, good crossing and nerves of steel and you've got someone bound to give Wìjìnì problems keeping his starting spot a few years down the line. Pam is a big fun of his direct style - direct even by Farf standards - so expect him to feature if a game is still unresolved and there's only a few minutes left. He's got the perfect skillset for such situations.

#20 - Folgore Alaminos - OM - Age 18 - Image Jungle Strike Image
IPA: /folˈgoɾe alaˈminos/

The son of ex-NTer Santos Alaminos. His father used to be a sensational fullback for Farfadillis. He was, in fact, arguably Farfadillis' first world class fullback. Folgore is nothing like his father, however. They share their tactical astuteness, but Folgore can't tackle to save his life. He is, however, a fantastic playmaker and a dangerous presence inside the box. A very typical offensive midfielder, really. Football, apparently, simply runs in this family.

#19 - Lojes de Sájajo - RW - Age 29 - Image Cassandra City Image
IPA: /ˈloxes de ˈsaxaxo/

Simply put, a hero. Lojes did not have the best of World Cups last time around - to the point that Pam has decided to bench him - but his legacy is now untouchable: he stopped a goalbound header in the last play of the World Cup final. Beyond that, he is a traditional Farf winger: flexible, fast, incisive. He can and will cause problems to any defense if he's on a good day, though his good days have become rarer, at least when playing for Farfadillis.

#18 - Edmün Çídh - ST - Age 21 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
IPA: /ˈedmʏn t͡sið/

Edmün played a huge role last World Cup, scoring the winning goal against Banija in the group stage. The win eventually let la Vherderoja advance to the knock-outs, and the rest is history. He has been outed for years now as the team's next star, but his development has stagnated somewhat. Alxíkí is better than him while being two years younger, and he's now got competition for most promising striker, too. Nonetheless, Çídh is a very complete player. He's fast, he's good at dribbling, good at playmaking and a good finisher.

#22 - Çè Quîrîjá - ST - Age 19 - Image Lâ Lüs Image
IPA: /t͡sĕ kiăɾiăˈʒa/

Lâ Lüs' astonishing rise from amateur fodder to Champions' League round of sixteen team and FFL runner-up was, mostly, a product of Alxíkí's performances. However, in that squad there was definitely a second best player. As Pam seems to be deadset on giving young players priority in her call-ups, we'll likely be seeing Çè get a few minutes if a game is already decided. Quîrîjá is a very fast striker with lethal finishing. The rest of his skillset could use some polishing, but "run fast, shoot" is, when done well, a winning strategy.

FORMATION AND TACTICS
The more complete the circle next to the player's name is, the more adept at his role he is, compared to the position's other possible roles.
Image

Pam Scott has taken a page from Ichi Tuzzio when choosing the tactics, and it shows. The set-up is not exactly a carbon copy from last cycle's, but it's safe to say it's only been tweaked. And it makes sense: don't fix what is not broken. She has been generally trying to dial back some of the attack-orientedness, but she's been getting mixed results.

In goal, Béreny Phelede will be your traditional sweeper keeper. Though he's not got the best skillset for it, he'll have to adapt: any other kind of goalkeeper would be suicidal with this set-up. In defense, Çìríkò Ûsêtêrnìx will be tasked with starting counterattacks with precise long balls and also defending the massive hole in defense that this formation leaves. He is particularly good at this, unlike his predecessor Kósa Bajnok, but does not shine as much as an actual defender. Marchiondo and Teijeiro will help him out defensively, but they'll still prefer to play wide. The two of them will be extremely tired by the end of any match, since they'll be running up and down the pitch the entire time, as well as trying to keep as narrow a defensive shape as possible. Teijeiro will look for the underlap since he's right-footed. Marchiondo will look to overlap for the same reason. Also, while Teijeiro in theory should track back, he might not do so nearly as often as Pam would like him to.

Sürgân t'Öéséné will be playing the fancily-named role of segundo volante. He'll be responsible for recovering the ball as any other holding midfielder, but he'll also look to arrive late at the box and go for perilous long shots or some smart assist. Ígnîgo Çí Xôrí will be tasked with running a lot, recovering the ball, playmaking, etc. Much like Sürgân, but in a slightly more advanced position. On the left wing, Wìjìnì will be tasked with running up and down the pitch endlessly, something he hopefully has learned to do by now after playing as a center midfielder last cycle. He will, however, cause havoc up front, playing the part of a traditional winger and/or an inside forward, depending on what the situation calls for. On the right wing, Alxìkì will be expected to use some of his youthful speed to break defenses. He sucks at defending, but the youngster cn tear apart any defense at a moment's notice, and it is his brilliance that Pam is banking on if rue Cazade or Êns fail to break past opponents. Faragó rue Cazade will operate as a takilante, something Tuzzio came up with and that nobody's sure is actually a real thing. The gist of it is that he'll play in the position of an advanced center midfielder, try to arrive late at the box, press a lot, try to score, get carded often, etc. His performances will most likely make or break this team.

Speaking of the false nine, he will be none other than Xíxì Êns, Farfadillis' best player, fresh off a triumphant AOCAF Cup run which saw him destroy defense after defense. He's rather minuscule, but it's hard to get him off the ball. As a false nine, he creates space for his teammates by dropping deeper and confusing the defense. He's fantastic at creating chances, so watch out for that. Also very good at finishing them, so overall a very troubling player to face, specially in this set-up. Finally, his partner up front will be (besides rue Cazade) Oskar Holsteiner, a forward that has everything needed to score goals. His job will be to finish the job whenever the ball gets to him.

The team will look to play a vertiginous game, with few passes wasted on recycling possession. Farves live to have the ball at their feet, but also to do something exciting with it. Expect them to press, counterpress and generally look desperate to recover the ball. The further up the pitch you manage to go with the ball, the more in danger they are. However, if you do lose the ball while attacking them, they'll almost always try to start a counterattack. They're very adept at it with their direct passes and astonishing pace, so try to make your chances count. Finally, the three-man defense will obviously use the off-side trap, as it's a natural choice with such a high defensive line and three players.

When holding a lead, the team will be much more eager to recycle possession and wait patiently for a goal. In that case, passes will still be direct, but less so. When chasing a game, though, expect some of the most urgent football the Multiverse has to offer.

As a final note, the players are quite versatile and can and will switch roles for periods of time at some point. Players likely to switch with each other are Êns with rue Cazade, Wìjìnì with Alxìkì and, specially, Wìjìnì with rue Cazade, with the former playing a pretty decent takilante and the latter having good enough pace and dribbling skills to pull off some world class performances on the wing.
