Name: Gwendolyn (Gwen for short) Sirrade
Age:24
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Appearance:
Mage?: Yes
Bio:
Being the child of wealthy Dascus nobles, Gwen’s life looked like it would be one free of strife and difficulty, reality however, proved to have other plans for the girl. Gwen’s birthing came prematurely and went on to be a litany of complications and problems that ultimately claimed her mother’s life and very nearly took hers too. Wracked with grief and desperation, Gwen’s newly mourning father, an influential lord and respected hero of war, used his contacts and wealth to seek out help from the country’s most prominent physicians and mages. While close, the young child managed to hold on to her life and through dozens of trials, developments and a miracle, managed to emerge victorious against her body's affliction.
Ecstatic at his daughter’s recovery and reeling from the loss of his wife, three years went by before Lord Raullin began to realize a strangeness about his daughter. After the procedure, those involved warned him that his daughter may never fully recover and while alive, could remain frail for life and dependant her pool of magika to survive. But instead of being the vulnerable child he expected, Gwen seemed to continually grow faster and bolder with every new moon and despite her condition, the signs of her magical gifts only became more and more pronounced. Unsure of what to do and fearing for another loss, the lord did the only thing he could and tried to teach her discipline and restraint through military studies.
From then on, Gwen’s upbringing became a blur of studying, sparing, training, and admiring the many heroic tales of old. Stories of individuals facing armies to protect brothers, of farmers rising to defend their homes from monsters and of the world's races uniting to defeat the demonic scourge of old. The stories filled the young girl’s mind and planted a seed that would grow within her, a desire to be like those in the books, a legend. Despite her father’s best efforts, a sense of pride continued to develop within the child and while he was prowd to see her excel at her studies it only went to further her already oversized ego. When she finally came of age, much to her father’s dismay, she left the safety of his side and went off to join the Shotarr knights.
After a gruelling boot camp, Gwen was allowed into the holy army of knights. Starting from the bottom rungs of the order, her ambition, focus and skill quickly propelled her through the ranks. In the skirmishes she was brought into, she fought with unmatched valour, bravery and ferocity as she worked to dispatch her enemies and protect her allies. Away from battle, she spent her time continuing her studies of magic while assisting the scribes and knights with their tasks and working to promote herself and the honour of the knights through assisting the local populace. From the outside, she seemed like the perfect knight but to those that had the misfortune of meeting her, she was stuck up, arrogant and solely focused on her own gain. Though despite her less than desirable personality, her actions gained her attention and while failing to make any friends along the way, ultimately pushed her rapidly up the ranks and resulted in her becoming one of the youngest knights to achieve the rank captain in the order’s history.
It was here however, that she met her downfall. While leading what should have been a simple hunt to track down a group of renegade mages, their targets somehow discovered the knights on their trail and set an ambush in wait. In the end, the over eager captain walked straight into the trap and the group of knights were forced into a fight for their lives. It was in this battle however, that Gwen saw an opportunity, when she spotted the leader of the rogue band and several of his accomplices fleeing from the field as the others held back the order. Making a split-second choice, Gwen abandoned her forces and chased down the fleeing mages alone. Though as fate would have it, she finally met her match and was ultimately defeated in the encounter. Returning to her men empty handed, she unknowingly sealed her fate with the order. Her rise to power garnered her no allies and little love from the men she commanded and abandoning them in a desperate battle only to fail at stealing glory for herself was the final push. When her conduct was formally called into question, dozens came with accusations against her. She was stripped of her rank as captain and excommunicated for breaking her vows of honour. Furious at the ruling, Gwen flung curse after curse at the order and vowed that they would one day beg her to return before being escorted off the site and flung to the streets.
From there, the next chapter of her journey began. No longer an official knight of any faction or kingdom, she wandered alone on the search for glory and fame while performing deeds of heroism and virtue wherever she could (all still in the hopes of growing her prestige). Her journey however, eventually brought her across an out of place goliath woman fighting against a group of bandits trying to steal from an otherwise unguarded trade caravarn. Seeing it as a ripe opportunity, Gwen leapt into the fray and together the duo secured an easy victory. After the fight had ended, the goliath introduced herself as Ylva of the nomadic Pathmaykr clan and before long the two began to share their stories, by the next sunrise the large goliath had made the executive choice that they would continue as a pair. While hesitant at first, Gwen accepted the goliath's company and in time, and after more than a few close calls, a bond of friendship started to form and deepen between them. Now close to a year later, they continue to wander together and even managed to earn enough of a reputation to join the most recent expedition into the ancient temples.
Fighting Style: Spellblade
Abilities:Limitations:
- [Swift]: While never the strongest amongst those around her, Gwen has always been quick and precise. Now with years of experience, training and a bit of magical assistance on her side, Gwen can move like a blur on the battlefield darting in and out of enemy lines as she strikes harshly into their flanks and around their defences then pulling back before they have the chance to properly strike back.
- [Maelstrom of magika]: Gwen has a remarkably large pool of magical energy within her that she been studying to control and direct into the world around her with life force magic.
Main combat spells;
- Propel: Launches Gwen in a chosen direction at break-neck speed.
- Cushion: Creates a solid circle of runic like symbols that can absorb the force of impacts and varies in effectiveness from the energy put into it. (very useful for catching herself after propel)
- Soul Spear: Fires a spear of raw magical power that can vary greatly in strength, casting time and range depending on the power used.
- Aura leak: Gwen releases her control and lets her magika run wild. As well as covering herself and her immediate surroundings in burning magical blue flames, her spell casting becomes more powerful though highly erratic (doing this for even a short time though will drain her magika and potentially leave her on death’s door).Equipment:
- (Weak constitution): Ever since her birth, Gwen has always been a relatively frail individual. Even after years of training and making it through the Shotarr knight’s rigorous boot camp, she is ultimately physically weak and susceptible to injury.
- (Stillborn): Complications during her birth should have left Gwen dead upon entering the world but quick actions and decisions from her wealthy, desperate father and her own unnaturally plentiful pool of magika ultimately saved her life. However, her body is now dependant on the flowing magic within her and having it run dry or be nullified would drain her of all strength and could even lead to her death if not allowed to recover quickly.
- (prideful): While having mostly noble goals and ideals, Gwen is a self-centered, haughty individual with near limitless confidence in her abilities. From this, she can be easily goaded into making poor choices both in and out of combat.
Optional Questionnaire
- [rapier]:
- [Half-Plate armor]: (Partially shown in appearance image) The half-plate armour offers decent protection over limited parts of her body but allows for nearly unhindered movement.
- [several magika potions]: A potion made to increase the recovery speed of magika. While it won’t make a difference in combat, Gwen often takes these after long fights or after having her mana drained to help her recover.
Personal Quest: To earn her place as a hero of legend
Favorite Factions: the knights of shotarr, wanderers
Least Favorite Factions: The Merry Men of the Vine (they’re too loud)
Favorite Memory: Her promotion to captain
Goals: Become a famous hero, re-join the knights of shotarr.
Greatest Fear: Losing control of her magic
Religion: believes in the existence of gods but follows the ways of Magika
Name: Ylva Pathmaykr
Age: 29
Gender: Female
Race: Goliath
Appearance:
Mage?: No
Bio:
Ylva’s story is one best kept simple. She was the first born of Olvir, current chieftain of the nomadic Pathmaykr clan and as such, first in line to lead her people as the next chieftan. Being the most likely heir, her childhood was one of hunts, violence and merrymaking as she learned the ways of her people firsthand. The goliaths often held a strong sense of culture and the Pathmaykr's were no exception, they lived freely as nomads and being a herd of giant like warriors, rarely ran into those brave or foolish enough to try and harm them. They recorded their history and legacies in stories and carvings that they passed down through the generations and while the laws of the harutan were followed, a few exceptions were made as while the clan members were often violent and harsh to one another, it never abandoned its own.
Growing up with such heavy expectations on her, Ylva was met with challenge after challenge as the others tested her right to lead. As she emerged from the challenges victorious and with nearly a dozen younger siblings to take care of (and occasionally beat down) Ylva was steadily recognised as as a powerful warrior amongst her people. But her greatest strength as a leader came in her nature, she met each challenger with honour and ferocity as she handled their request with respect but when the bout was over and a bruised, broken goliath laid before her, she praised their attempts and offered a hand of friendship. Through violence and battle, bonds of trust were formed and over time, the challenges began to stop all together. She had earned the trust of her people. Fights and brawls against her continued unhampered, as they always would in the tribe, but now the focus was joyful and strengthening rather than testing her metal.
When she reached the age of 27, her final trial began. Her father, now contemplating the future, gave her one final challenge. Ylva was tasked to leave the clan, walk the world and find something that would bring them newfound power and strength. It was a right of passage for all chiefs of the tribe and not one taken lightly. Olvir himself took over half a decade to learn of the outside and eventually returned with both riches and a new, fertile land for the tribe to wander and thrive in. The task was not meant to be an easy or short one but was made to ultimately prove the chieftain-to-be as worthy without question.
Knowing what was expected of her and ready to take on the challenge, she was given her father’s war hammer, several days’ worth of food and let loose upon the world. Admittedly more than a little naïve about the workings of the lands, her stature and power kept her mostly safe throughout her travels until on one fateful day, she came across several travelling merchants being robbed by a group of bandits. Seeing it as a chance for exercise and a way to punish those preying upon the unarmed, she spoke a calm greeting to alert them of her presence, then charged into battle. Halfway through the fight however, she noticed several of her foes falling before she had the chance to hit them and come the battle’s end, an interesting individual made herself known. A small, ashen haired human who could move like lightning. Though something about her pride and confidence struck a chord with the goliath and reminded her of home. Despite everything, she found herself enjoying the young woman’s company and saw through her words to her actions and decided to travel along with her. Before long, an apparent legend began to spread about a powerful, nomadic goliath and after close to another year of wandering and adventuring, an invitation to join the coming temple expedition was sent to her. Not wanting to wound her friend’s pride however, she burned the letter and said the call had come for them both, knowing that none in their right mind would question the extra help or the large, war-hammer wielding goliath bringing it.
Fighting Style: Barbarian
Abilities:Limitations:
- [Titanic wrath]: Even amongst the other goliaths of her clan, Ylva’s raw strength stood unchallenged. In combat she uses this power to tear apart foes with reckless abandon and protect her allies with unmatched ferocity.
- [Mountain Spirit]: Goliath’s are well known for their resilience and once again Ylva outshines some of the best from her race. In spirit and body, she is an unbreakable force of will able to shrug off pain, fear and hesitation until her very last breath.
[box]
- (Arm’s length): While priding herself on being a near unstoppable force of destruction up close, Ylva has no real ranged options in combat and lacks the speed or finesse required to close distances safely.
- (Friend Maykr): Despite appearances and her innate love of violence, Ylva is quick to trust and fiercely protective of her friends. More dangerously though, her lack of any real shrewd features or traits leaves her easily surprised in battle and far less likely to notice ambushes, traps and betrayals.
Equipment:
- [Smalls] A monstrously large and crude looking war hammer fashioned from ancient wood and hardened mountain stone. Made for the sole purpose of crushing, its handle is adorned with dozens of intricate carvings made by its many wielders.
- [carving knife] While not much use in conflict, Ylva carries her carving knife with her at all times as a memento of home.

Goals: Protect her companions and uphold the pride of her pride of her people.
Greatest Fear:dishonouring her clan

Aaaaannnndddd done. Need to go through the grammar still (will try to get to it tomorow) but other than that here be the first drafts.
Wasn't too sure about how magic should be written up but figured I'd give it a shot and see how it comes out. Anyways, as always let me know if there's anything that seems iffy or like should be changed!
