Hi and welcome to a reboot of Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States's Star Wars political RP! Players take on the role of characters with links or connections to the newly established New Republic. As the premier power in the galaxy, your actions will have significant repercussions on how the galaxy will emerge from decades on conflict and what form this new government will take. You don't have to play as a Senator, although I encourage a connection to Coruscant in order to allow easier interaction with other players. But other than that, feel free to apply with a Bounty Hunter, a grizzled Detective, an Officer in the Republic Navy, or anything else that you can come up with! If any of that catches your fancy, then I encourage you to read on to the details that GCOCs originally put together.

When the Death Star was blasted, it was enough to silence the whole battle in an instant. It’s not like we had much choice; the flash was enough to temporarily blind everyone who had their eyes open. Turbolaser batteries and laser cannons fell silent, fighter craft reorganized. Most of the next 20 minutes was spent manoeuvring out of the way of the biggest debris. Among veterans of the battle, it is known as the Blind Truce.

I think nobody among us, at least not in my own fighter wing, had thought about what would happen after the Death Star was destroyed. In our minds, we assumed we would win. Thinking back, however strange it might sound, we believed that there would be a large title card in the sky saying ‘YOU WON’. Of course, as we now well known, that did not happen. The 20 minute truce became 30 minutes… then 45… then an hour…

With the destruction of the Executor, there was no clear command structure anymore among the imperials. While they were deciding who was in charge, both sides performed manoeuvres for the eventuality that the battle would recommence. At the beginning we feared that very eventuality, since the imperial fleet still outgunned us 20:1. But, as the day progressed, more and more Star Destroyers jumped out into hyperspace, and more and more of our own cruisers entered the system. Three hours after the destruction of the Death Star, the majority of the remaining Star Destroyers struck their colours. My guess is that with the shock of losing the Death Star and the emperor in the same instant, as well as Darth Vader, with half their fleet jumping away in disarray, they did not exactly know what they would be fighting for if they resumed, either tactically or strategically.

The next few hours were, and are still, the strangest I have come to witness in my years serving the rebellion. The Star Destroyers were reduced to skeleton crews, in case the imperial captains managed to rediscover their courage. Every two minutes a shuttle landed in our frigate’s hangar bay. Out strode hundreds of imperial marines and storm troopers, helmets and caps removed, disarmed. Some utterly spent and downtrodden, others clearly relieved and let up. One storm trooper even shook my hand and thanked me.

What I remember most about the fall of the empire was… how quiet it was. Admiral Ackbar, probably knowing more than he let on, set a course straight for Coruscant. While he might have figured that it would be mostly defenceless, we of course did not. We did not know what to expect above Imperial Centre. For all we knew, we would be blasted to bits as soon as we left hyperspace. Of course, Home One now housed the biggest collection of naval officers outside of Prefsbelt IV, and they were as much guests as they were hostages. Still, our Nebulon B only housed pilots, sailors and troopers. We wondered if they would be as kind to us.

Luckily, when we fell out of hyperspace above Coruscant, we were not met with a blast of turbolasers. The imperial naval garrison had been stripped in order to strengthen the forces at Endor, and now there were only a few Star Destroyers left. The governor of the planet surrendered in return for keeping his position during the transition. The imperial army units defected soon after, and managed to arrest and execute a lot of courtesans before we even managed to touch down our first transports. I guess they were just as happy as we were that the imperial navy lost its position of power, and they wanted to show how willing they were to cooperate.

It took a while for a civilian government to form, and then for victory over the Empire to be announced. But it was hardly the victory that we expected. Slowly, the situation has begun to take shape. The more days pass, the more we realise that it was not as simple as destroying the Emperor and breaking his fleet. We all assumed that things would revert to the way we wanted it to be… not realising that what everyone wanted is as different as night is to day. Politics was not a topic among rebels. We all assumed it went without saying. Now we are not rebels anymore, and we are waking up to the realisation that we would have done well to at least discuss for a moment what we were fighting for.

Hello and welcome to this; a political roleplay about the rise of the New Republic in the Star Wars universe. First things first: this is neither a Legends nor a Canon roleplay. Rather, this roleplay takes the original trilogy and the prequels, and builds further on that legacy. I’m more than open to players adding in their own creations and flair to apps, as long as it doesn’t dramatically alter the setting. That way, you are allowed a lot of freedom in this interesting time in galactic politics, while not requiring you to hire a rules lawyer just to fill out the paperwork.

This roleplay will mainly focus on what path the New Republic will forge for the galaxy. The Empire is defeated, the rebels stand totally victorious, and yet, the end is not in sight. Unlike what Return of the Jedi seemed to imply, the death of an empire did not immediately herald freedom and democracy. Unlike Legends, however, this roleplay will also not focus on the civil war dragging on, and the splintering of the imperials. The New Republic stands indisputably as the dominant galactic power, and the remaining Imperial Warlords couldn’t hope to fight them in a pitched battle. But now that the Empire has been taken over, the politics begin. The Rebel Alliance was composed of countless individuals and interests that were bound together only by a common enemy. And now, rebels are increasingly finding out that the people they thought of as their brothers and sisters hold dramatically different views from their own.

In this here roleplay you will be able to take on any named or original character, as long as they have political relevance. And that political relevance here is construed very broadly. Even if you do not hold an official position within the New Republic, there are ways to influence those politics. However, I will try to achieve a broad representation of players in the various factions, and I will strongly encourage players to have characters with links to the new Senate on Coruscant. To that end, I’ll be hesitant to accept Imperial Warlords that are overtly opposed to the Republic unless you’re very convincing.

The New Republic is politically splintered into many factions. While I will describe some factions, you are free to think of your own. I am also asking anyone to think about more issues the galaxy has to face. The list below is just a small number of the issues currently being discussed, and there is a lot more, even when not considering that the galaxy still needs to be run.

I will be running the universe behind the scenes based on the choices your characters make, though if this takes off I’ll probably reach out for some Co-OPs to help out. I’m also always open to ideas and feedback from anyone on potential plotlines/galactic events. To that end, realistic simulation and narrative considerations will be equally important here.

FACTIONS
    New Republicans
An umbrella term for a larger group of people, the New Republicans believe that the Old Republic was destroyed because of some form of heavy shortcoming. There is vehement disagreement about what this shortcoming actually was. Some believe the galaxy was not centralised enough, while others believe that it was too centralised. Some lay the blame with the electoral system of having one senator per planet, others still think the Jedi are to blame. The New Republicans are divided into a few subfactions who disagree as much with one another as they do with the other factions.

  • Centralists
Centralists want to create a strong, centralised government. They look back at the trade federation blockade of Naboo and see that the Republic was too powerless to stop such a blatant violation of the constitution. The trade federation having its own army eventually led to the Clone Wars. Centralists want to weaken local planetary governments in favour of a single centralised republic.
  • Decentralists/Sovereignists
Decentralists are of the opposite persuasion. They feel that the fault of the Republic was in being too centralised, laying too much power in the hands of both one person, the Supreme Chancellor, and in the Core Systems. While not very public about this fact, many Decentralists are old Separatists, which hampers them in their public relations. They are also vocal about their support for the Outer Rim systems, which they feel have been neglected.
  • Parliamentarians
Parliamentarians find the ills of the Old Republic lie in its voting system. While some planets have billions of inhabitants and some have closer to the tens of thousands, every planet has equal representation in the Senate. They believe the Senate should be in some way proportional to population. In what way, however, they have not figured out, which leads to much disagreement within this subfaction. The members of this faction have founded their own Parliament, as a rival to the Senate. This body is as of yet only partially elected, and uses most of its time to discuss the fine details of electoral reform.

    Old Republicans
Old Republicans are much more united in their goal. They just want to see the Old Republic restored to the way it was before the rise of the Empire. They believe that the rise of the Empire was illegal, and that the Republic should automatically revert to the old systems. They support electing a Supreme Chancellor and starting over like before the empire, while the New Republicans feel that a new constitution needs to be drawn up. Even the Old Republicans have internal disagreements, however, divided into two factions.

  • Valorumists
These Old Republicans see the election of Palpatine as Supreme Chancellor as unlawful, since it has become clear that the Sith Lord orchestrated the Clone Wars and the trade blockade of Naboo for his own political purposes. Since he lied to the Senate, the reasoning goes, the motion of no confidence in Valorum was null and void, and his removal was as well. So, the vesting of emergency powers in Palpatine was unlawful as well. Legally, this would mean the Republic automatically reverts to the form it had when Valorum was still chancellor.
  • Amidalists
Unable to call themselves Palpatinists, both for fear of attaching themselves to the late Emperor and for confusion with the actual imperial Palpatinists faction, Amidalists believe that the strong leadership of Palpatine was something to be desired. They see the problem in the vesting of emergency power, or alternatively the proclamation of the Empire. However, they see no problem with a strong chancellor, as long as he does not proclaim said Empire. There is vehement disagreement between Decentralists and Amidalists, because their views of the Republic are entirely contradictory.

    Imperials
No faction is as broad as the Imperial faction, but despite the splintering there still is a lot of unity within this faction. The many subfactions of Imperials, only united by wanting some form of empire, have managed to largely put aside their differences in order to influence galactic politics. However, they are also largely distrusted, and unconfirmed rumours are circulating that indicate some form of cooperation between the imperial factions and the still unaccounted for Imperial Warlords. The imperial faction denies these claims, of course.

  • Early Imperials
The Early Imperials are perhaps the most moderate of the imperial faction. It consists mostly of imperial officers and administrators that laid down their duty after Palpatine abolished the Senate after the completion of the Death Star. These are in vehement opposition of the Tarkin doctrine, but believe the galaxy needs strong leadership as well as advice from the Senate. Since some of these defected to the rebel alliance after the destruction of the first Death Star, some rebels share these sentiments.
  • Status Quo
These imperials don’t see anything wrong with the Empire in principle. They just disagree with the way Palpatine ran things, for one reason or another, but do want to come out on top. Despite the Rebel Alliance, they see the Empire as being responsible for rebuilding a devastated galaxy in the wake of the Clone Wars. This subfaction holds many imperial army officers, but also civilians and arms industrialists like Kuat.
  • Palpatinists
More a scapegoat than anything else, this fringe faction of Palpatine loyalists have undying devotion to the late Emperor. Some have not accepted that he is dead, while others want revenge for his demise. They seek to run the empire in the exact same way that Palpatine did, with religious devotion if necessary. They are desperately seeking a force user to take on the role of Emperor. Because Palpatine promoted loyalty above competence, these imperials are the least capable of performing the political wrangling necessary to fulfil their goals, and mainly make enemies through their violent opposition to all other factions. Many expect the faction to die out and fade from the mainstream of galactic politics.

    Radicals
The Radical faction is less a faction and more a collective term for very different ideologies. They are neither imperials nor republicans, but seek some other form of government. There are radicals who want to see some kind of theocracy under the New Jedi Order. Others want complete wealth redistribution or a galaxy without any overarching governing body. These groups are relevant, because they are made up of various well-trained and zealous armed bands that lend their support to the rebel alliance. With the war over, however, they quickly feel their influence slipping away, and they feel that they have a limited window to achieve their goals.

  • Separatists
Unlike the Separatists of old, these planets do not seek to form a new Republic or Confederacy. They simply want nothing to do with galactic governance anymore, having been disillusioned by the way the Republic slipped into the Empire. There are many planets of non-human races that want to follow this course, since the human-centric Empire was hardest on them. These groups were allied to the rebels against the Empire, but with the Empire defeated and the rebellion wanting to recreate some kind of Republic, the goals of these groups have become more and more opposed. For the New Republic, these groups have become most problematic because they make up a substantial arm of the New Republic army, fought the hardest to defeat the empire, and control some vital sectors.
  • Warlords
The imperial remnants. After the battle of Endor, the imperial navy did not cease to exist. The imperial elements which did not surrender or defect to the New Republic, a minority overall, fled to outlying systems to establish themselves there. These systems constantly shift alliances, for there are as many subfactions within these remnants as there are within the New Republic. They join and leave the Republic at will, looking for amnesty or blood money if they so wish. Their main problem lies in their big fleets, which though unassailable require massive maintenance. Also, more and more of the lower ranking troopers desert every day, sometimes taking entire ships with them.
  • Corporatists
After being devastated by two galactic wars, the primary role of any government should be to get out of the way of the rebuilding process. The Corporatists believe that the New Republic should exist purely for the purpose of greasing the gears of interstellar trade. They believe that the free market, lax regulation, and support for the galaxy’s largest corporations is the only way to bring prosperity to the masses. The significant financial support received by members of this faction also goes a long way to securing their loyalty.

ISSUES

Slavery
The Empire instituted a system of racist slavery, among Wookies and Geonosians in particular. This system of slavery persists. Some seek to abolish it, but the Outer Rim economies have for a large part come to depend on cheap labour to survive. Abolishing slavery means dooming these societies, but the evil of slavery cannot be allowed to persist in many eyes, especially since so many freed slaves fought and died for the Alliance. The Wookies are especially adamant in this position.
Current status: NO CHANGE

Criminality
The Empire had an unspoken agreement with the Hutt cartels and other criminal enterprises, wherein they would assist the Empire in return for the empire not upsetting their business too much. Many feel that the Hutt cartels have been allowed to exist for far too long. Yet the galaxy is exhausted by the civil war, and is not ready for another bloody offensive in the outer rim territories where the cartels nestle. Jungle warfare would undoubtedly be the result, and that is without mentioning the many assassination attempts against chief politicians that would follow.
Current status: NO CHANGE

Amnesty
Crimes were committed during the reign of the Empire. Unspeakable crimes. From Operation Knightfall to Order 37, the Tarkin Doctrine, genocide, mass executions, use of slave labour and the destruction of Jedha and Alderaan. Not only the top brass were involved, but many mid-level officers and troopers as well. Outside of the military, civilians and companies cooperated here as well. To make matters worse, the rebels also committed terrible atrocities. There are questions about who is to blame, whether there should be a tribunal set up, and who should be tried by this tribunal. Also, whether warlords should receive amnesty in return for their cooperation is a sensitive issue. The Alderaanians, Wookies and Geonosians are probably the most vocal about their support for a tribunal and capital punishment.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Banks
The banking clan was long under imperial sway, and the empire borrowed enormous sums in order to pay for their construction projects, among which the extension of the Kuat shipyards and the construction of the two Death Stars. Palpatine used his influence to make sure that he had to pay as little interest as possible, and the plan was always to pay back the banks with the scrapping of the rebel fleet and the Mon Calamari shipyards, and selling the captured rebels into slavery. Palpatine also thought that he would one day be too powerful for the banks. This obviously never came to fruition, but if the galactic financial system is to survive, these banks will need their credits back. And while the empire could not be sued, the Republic would be able to be dragged before a court if it chooses to re-establish that accountability.
Current status: NO CHANGE

Racism
Apart from the slavery, the imperial system was also racist in many other ways. Many non-humans lost their property in favour of humans. Many of these humans did not know the origins of their property, and simply settled on imperial worlds when they got the chance. Now these non-humans are returning from the slums and prison centres they were forced into, and finding their property stolen and occupied by others. The New Republic needs to figure out how it will manage this conflict between the original inhabitants and human settlers, along with ongoing racial tensions throughout the galaxy.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Military
The imperial military was powerful. Generals and admirals hold positions of power, and many worlds and individuals are dependent on the military for their income. Some people don’t know any other craft than the soldier’s trade. It is also ridiculously expensive, kept afloat by loans and slave labour, as well as the spoils of war. With the war over, however, and slavery looking to be abolished, the imperial military will no longer be sustainable by the Republican budget. The question is whether large portions of the military will be disbanded peacefully, and what effect that will have. To add to the challenge, the New Republic military stands as one of its most powerful assets. With Imperial defectors, the Rebel fleet and the Republic’s industrial capacity, the military stands without equal. Some argue that the New Republic should leverage its current position of strength and empower the military to ensure peace for years to come.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Veterans
The Civil War was terrible. Some people lost their lives, others lost limbs, hearing, or sight. Some people lost their sleep over the terrible dreams. Others lost their homes, and many Alderaanians lost their entire home planet. These people need help. The question is how much the Republic will be able to give, and who they want to give it to. For every rebel wounded there is an imperial trooper with the same injuries. And there are the old Clones still, many of whom are scattered throughout the galaxy without just compensation for their services.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Refugees
The Civil War has displaced not only towns, villages or cities, but entire planets. Quarren, Mon Calamari, Alderaanians, Wookies, Geonosians, Kaminoans, Twi’Lek and members of every other species have been forced from their homes, either into refugee camps, service for the rebellion, or shanty towns on desolate frontier planets. Their homes have either been destroyed or taken up by imperial loyalists. Whether they are to be resettled, or whether they should make the most of the current situation, is hotly debated.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Economy
Following the destruction of the Civil War, especially in the Outer Rim, basic commodities have become prohibitively expensive. Industries have been retrofitted to service wartime needs, and in peacetime people are beginning to feel the effects of this. Food prices are increasing, as are joblessness and consumer debt. Meanwhile, poverty is rampant due to the lack of social programs within the Empire, where people were forced to join the imperial army if they wanted an escape from their worsening living conditions. Careful economic policy will be required to stave off starvation - whether it be by unleashing the free market or a concerted program of government support.
Current status: NO CHANGE

The Jedi
The Jedi made many mistakes in the past. They were indispensable too. They both protected the Republic from threats and led to her ultimate downfall at the hands of Palpatine and, more importantly, Vader. There still exists distrust throughout the galaxy towards the Jedi. Luke has a clear plan for rebuilding the Order, taking the temple away from Coruscant and rebuilding the one on Yavin, to take the Jedi away from the centre of power. However, the question is how much liberty Luke will have in this. The New Republic has varying opinions on whether the Jedi should be placed under the direct command of the Chancellor, or whether they should exist at all. Many fear force users after Palpatine and Vader, so it will be tough for Luke to build the Order he wants without outside interference and compromise.

  • First and foremost, follow all of the site’s rules and keep things PG-13. We’re all guests here on NS so let’s not overstay our welcome.
  • Be kind to your fellow RPers. We’re all here to have fun, not reach some underwhelming win-state!
  • Follow standard RP etiquette (no godmodding, metagaming, etc).
  • Make sure to keep your grammar, writing quality, and effort up to par, if you need help with ideas or writing tips feel free to ask any of the OPs or Co-OPs and they will be more than happy to help.
  • Five line minimum (from a desktop view); this can be bended in situations where there is little to respond to but try your best to adhere to it.
  • You can have multiple characters, but you have to have at least one character
  • Stay as active as you can and try not to leave anyone hanging. If you’re going to be gone for a period of time and we can accommodate/work around the issue, as long as we’re informed beforehand.
  • Don’t be one of *those* Star Wars fans. We’re going to be taking a fairly flexible approach towards the established lore, as long as it’s all done in good faith.
  • At least one of your characters (and preferably your main one) must have some connection to the Senate on Coruscant. This is to make inter-character interactions easier, though this doesn’t mean that you have to be a Senator!
  • Have fun!

Timeline

4 ABY Day 55 - The Battle of Endor: The Empire is fractured with the death of Emperor Palpatine and the destruction of the second Death Star. For the first time in the war, the Alliance to Reform the Republic starts to plan for its victory.

4 ABY Day 74 - Formation of the Provisional Galactic Government

4 ABY Day 75 - Mon Mothma is elected Acting Chancellor in the first sitting of the New Republican Senate onboard the Hope One

4 ABY Day 242 - Imperial garrison surrenders on Coruscant after a relatively brief siege by the New Republic.

5 ABY Day 21 - The first galactic elections are held on worlds under Republic control. Although the resulting Senate is meant to only be temporary, it lends credibility to the legislative body under Mon Mothma. Turnout is high as voters in Rebel held territory seek to flex their newfound freedom and liberties. The shadow of the ongoing war continues to loom over proceedings, however.

5 ABY Day 127 - The Battle of Jakku: Strangely, a large hold out of Imperial Cruisers was found on the isolated planet of Jakku. It was discovered on a diplomatic mission to Jakku, which barely was able to escape the clutches of the various Star Destroyers on the planet, and soon a reserve force of the new Provisional Galactic Government was to meet them. This marks the end of any ability of the Empire to fight the former rebellion in space, and most Imperials fell in line soon after.

5 ABY Day 131 - The Galactic Concordance is signed, officially ending the Galactic Civil War. The Empire almost immediately collapses into infighting, with Warlords fighting among themselves on the fringes of Republic space. None are willing to risk a confrontation with the New Republic Navy, which now stands supreme as the galaxy’s dominant military force.

5 ABU Day 151 - RP Start date: The Senate is sitting for the first time within the rebuilt Senate hall on Coruscant. Marked with significance, the date is set as the first day of a renewed and victorious Republic. But with the dust settling from the Galactic Civil War, the Provisional Galactic Senate must discuss the New Republic and it’s laws, followed by a voting period to determine what kind of galaxy they hope to create.

That it does! Still need to see if we can garner enough interest to get it rolling again, though.

Personal information
Name: Tiasha Nuvonn
Age: 29 (25 BBY)
Species: Human
Appearance:
Image

Planet of origin: Coruscant/Nar Shadaa
Rank and title: Ambassador/Lobbyist

Short biography:
Although the Nuvonn family had originally established itself on Naboo, but Tiasha’s parents had both grown up in the upper class elite of Coruscant. Born into the upper levels of the galactic centre, she was destined for a life in the modern royalty of the galaxy’s richest and wealthiest. Even though she was born during the tumultuous years of the Clone Wars, you wouldn’t have known the blood and death consuming the galaxy from inside the Nuvonn household. The sudden demand for weapons of war and death, as well as the effective sanctioning of the Outer Rim businesses that had sided with the separatists, truly propelled Tiasha’s family into the upper echelons of Coruscant’s infamously stratified society.

Even in the early days of the Empire, the elite were mostly insulated from the foundational changes going on in the world around them. But unbeknownst to the growing heiress, Tiasha’s father had increasingly been finding new avenues of profit in the shadier sides of the galactic economy. Having become a Senator - as was the fashion for much of the elite - Tiasha’s father would increasingly try his luck by pushing the limits of what the Imperial authorities were willing to overlook. Even though the Empire itself was a prominent buyer of military goods and armaments, he found that even more profit was to be had by arming both the Empire and the myriad of rebel groups that sprung up in futile efforts to oppose them. Tiasha’s father assumed that the occasional bribe and his own prominent standing on Coruscant made him immune to any repercussions, but eventually he would come to the attention of the wrong Imperial agent.

Exposed and branded a traitor, Tiasha and her family were only just able to flee the system before their assets were seized and Stormtroopers arrived at their estate. With little choice, the Nuvonns hired a smuggler to take them to Hutt Space - a common destination for wanted criminals and dissidents alike trying to escape the Empire’s reach. They arrived on Nar Shadaa with practically nothing to their name, struggling to survive in the over cramped domed cities of the toxic world beyond the borders of the civilized galaxy. Leveraging his contacts and connections in the underworld, Tiasha’s father found a role for himself working for the local cartels, but to say that the family had it easy in their new home would be putting it mildly. The experience also changed Tiasha, hardening her from the fragile heiress who had scarcely been forced to venture to Coruscant’s lower levels. It exposed her to the cruel realities of power in the galaxy, and made her realise that might and manipulation are the ultimate deciders of authority. But it quickly became clear that Tiasha had inherited her father’s abilities at playing the system’s game. By the time of the Battle of Yavin, the Nuvonns had established themselves within the local underworld and had gradually even been able to reclaim some of their apprehended wealth. Sensing a change in the winds, the Hutts subtly began to support the growing Alliance in an effort to distract and destabilize the Empire, which had increasingly been cracking down on their operations. Tiasha’s father, already well versed in playing both sides, also began to supply the rebels in exchange for favours and support. Soon, his ‘generosity’ earned him the reputation of a quiet supporter of the rebellion, exiled as a consequence of his firm belief in its cause. The fact that he had just as readily supplied the Imperial forces with armaments, having been conveniently forgotten.

When the Death Star was destroyed and word of Palpatine’s death rippled through the galaxy, Tiasha had already proven herself as an able agent for the Hutts. With her family’s old connections on Coruscant, and her father’s positive reputation among the rebellion, she was seen as the perfect representative for their interests. Sent to the re-established Capital, the heiress established herself as a shrewd player in the politics of the fledgling republic. Petitioning to regain access to what was left of her family’s frozen wealth, and combining it with the resources provided to her by the Hutts, Tiasha set herself up as a prominent lobbyist for business interests seeking to gain a foothold in the new political system.

Political information
Political views: Representing the Hutt Council and their associated interests in the Republic, Tiasha’s political views are primarily motivated by the practical concerns of her employers. Trying to peel away the layers of conflicting interests and interest groups that govern her political actions might be impossible, and even she might not know where her own views end and those of her clients begin. Those who know her well, would come away concluding that she is ruthlessly apathetic - with her political views capable of changing to match the season and the needs of the day.

Tiasha’s office lobbies for increased sovereignty and representation of the Outer and Mid Rims, though she is not outwardly opposed to the Centralist bloc insofar as any resulting central government is suitably malleable for her clients’ needs. She is also a vocal proponent for the liberalisation of restrictive regulations, mobilising her significant resources to try and undo the strict oversight that the Empire used to suffocate the Hutts’ operations. Tiasha also works behind the scenes in an effort to derail the new Republic’s efforts to combat slavery within its borders. As a lucrative trade for both the Hutts and a number of her other clients, its eradication poses a direct threat to their bottom lines, not to mention the dramatic peril it could bring to the already faltering Outer Rim economies.

Political faction and subfaction: Decentralists (loosely)
Organisational allegiance: Hutt Council (Hutt Cartels), Trade Federation, Banking Guilds
Position within galactic government:
Political goal: To promote the interests of the Hutt Council and Cartels, as well as the multiple semi-legal businesses that operate on the border of the galaxy’s underworld.

Faction Relations:
Guided by the necessary pragmatism of a lobbyist, Tiasha relates less to the established political blocs and more to Senators’ stances on specific issues. She couldn’t care less about the nuanced philosophical debates on centralisation or Imperial morality, but rather concentrates on the ultimate impact of any related legislation. As such, Tiasha maintains cordial relationships with most of the major blocs, doing what she can to keep her fingers in multiple pots and hedge her bets in the new Senate’s early days.
Favourable factions: Deregulation, Free Trade, Industrialists, Pro Outer Rim
Unfavourable factions: Anti-criminal crusaders, Palpatinists, Abolitionists

Additional
Relations with other players:
Additional info: Although hardly seeking the downfall of the Republic, it is in the Hutt's interest to see the new state focused on domestic and internal affairs. As such, Tiasha maintains unofficial connections among separatist and Imperial Remnant movements as well as with the more legal political movements.

It lives indeed. I'm going to hold on making an application, since I currently have A World on Fire on my RP chopping block, and this dispatch attached to your sig tells that I'll either lose interest in one or the other. But should I find the time for both, I'm not sure if Space Louverture Gobroo himself will be back this time around. Thinking about exploring some other side of Star Wars politics, most likely involving actually participating in either Galatic Government (be it the one at Coruscant or wherever the Parlimentarians hold their sessions).
NS stats are not used.
This nation does not reflect my IRL views on anything.
Sorry for any mistakes I make with regards to history while roleplaying in historical RPs. Also I am not a qualified historian or academic. None of the make-believe I do is likely to stand up to academic scrutiny.

Application
Personal information
Name: Tandres Apolin
Age: 48 (44 BBY)
Species: Human
Appearance:
Image

Planet of origin: Kuat
Rank and title: Governor of Gyndine
Short biography: The officer corps of the Imperial Navy, generally speaking, can be divided neatly into three categories. Some men entered the Imperial Navy because they were left with no choice, others did so because of a sense of duty to the Emperor, and yet others simply desired the prestige and power that came with the title of an officer. A serpent who played his cards just right to betray a dying Empire, it is of little mystery as to which category Tandres Apolin belonged to.

Born a member of the prestigious Apolin family on Kuat, the young Tandres learned from an early age the importance of playing the political game. The Apolins, while certainly not the dominant clique of businessmen and bureaucrats on the shipyard world, knew how to leverage influence in a way to punch above their weight. In the dying days of the Republic, a particular relative by the name of Ormes Apolin had secured himself in the Emperor's circle, and the family became ingrained with the New Order. With such connections, despite being a few years older than the ordinary candidate, Tandres had made his way into the Imperial Naval Academy on Coruscant.

After three years of training as an officer, Tandres was assigned to the Circarpous sector, where he served with very little distinction defending a luxury liner, Queen of Empire, from pirate incursions. Hardly a notable military man, perhaps his quiet post at Circarpous proved to be his saving grace after news arrived that his commanding officer had died aboard the first Death Star, and that he was now in charge of the few Imperial Navy assets that remained at Gyndine during the course of the Galactic Civil War. Now, the modest shipyards and prosperous grain fields of the planet were in his hands.

Unfortunately for his superiors, Tandres held very little loyalty to the Empire itself, and as soon as news arrived of the second Death Star's destruction, Apolin was among the first to jump ship and proclaim his allegiance to the Rebel Alliance. He seized the Gyndine system, along with the shipyards and the Queen of Empire, ostensibly on behalf of the Rebel cause. In truth, it was simply the final move in his serpentine game of deception, as he established very clearly to his Rebel contacts that the system would certainly 'fall' to the Warlords or to pirates in the event that his autonomy were curtailed.

Tandres Apolin, though more than able to provide for a political ally, is not a reliable piece of any puzzle to be assembled in the New Republic. He is willing to strike a deal with any who come to Yractos, be they Imperial, Republican or even Radicals. Furthermore, his only discernible goal is his own power within Gyndine, opposing any moves to curtail his excesses with a polite threat to supply an enemy.

Political Information
Political views: A warlord with the flag of the New Republic hastily draped upon him, Governor Apolin positions himself as an apolitical governor merely seeking the best for his system, when in reality he is willing to work for any faction that douses enough credits on him and Gyndine. As such, he will publicly support whatever political ideas he is incentivized to do so, so long as they are not implemented in his system in such a way that it harms his rule.
Political faction and subfaction: A New Republican Decentralist on paper, Apolin is effectively a warlord draped in the flag of the New Republic. He supports the confederal style of government that the Decentralists desire for the galaxy, if only to permanently cement his rule over Gyndine.
Organisational allegiance: Possessing a modest but functional shipyard, the Governor is strongly affiliated with the Navy, and the Navy's size is one of the few issues he is reluctant to compromise on.
Position within galactic government: Apolin is the governor of the Gyndine system, one of the more influential worlds in the Expansion Region following the Galactic Civil War.
Political goals: In the short term, Governor Apolin seeks to defend his system's form of governance, including the Gyndine System Militia and the oligarchic nature of his rule. On the Galactic scale, Apolin seeks to use his system as leverage to ensure that he benefits from whatever legislation is passed by the Senate.
Favourable factions: The New Republicans, the Decentralists in particular, and the Warlords share a very good working relationship with Apolin. He uses the former to legitimize his rule over Gyndine, and the latter are always keen to purchase grain and ships, two products that the Gyndine system is seldom in short supply of.
Unfavourable factions: After his defection from the Empire, the Imperial faction has a strong dislike of the pragmatic and serpentine Governor. The Old Republicans and Radicals are also difficult for Apolin to cooperate with, the former on the basis that it removes his original pretext for rule and the latter based on how they view him as a warlording slimeball who would sell out his own mother if he got a new party ship out of the deal.
Key issue(s): The issue of the Military, in particular the New Republic Navy, is of key importance to the Governor. The Gyndine Shipyard depends on the demand the Navy provides, and any downsizing or other austerity measures could push his system into selling ships to the Imperial Warlords, or even radical factions like the Palpatinists. Furthermore, as a way to keep prices down and his luxury liner in service, Apolin supports keeping Slavery intact, at least to the point that his excessive parties and low costs for grain and ships remain as well.
Slavery: Apolin is in favor of slavery, as it is of great benefit to his plutocratic governance.
Criminality: The Governor is not above dealing with criminal syndicates to his benefit; indeed, he is more than willing to cooperate with factions such as the Hutts or the Black Sun. However, he is also willing to work with "hard-on-crime" politicians, if only to ensure that he remains in control of the criminals and not risk the situation reversed.
Amnesty: A former Imperial officer himself, Apolin supports amnesty for those who partook in even the worst parts of Imperial rule. After all, a significant segment of his own officer corps is construed of war criminals who sought refuge at Gyndine, so why sell out such valuable tools?
The Banks: An oligarch through and through, the Governor supports the idea of the banks sueing the New Republic for debts accrued under the Empire, if only to secure the powerful banking clans as another ally to cement his warlordship over Gyndine.
Racism: Apolin sees little benefit in discrimination based on race alone; all it seems to do is back one into a corner where one can only find allies of the same species. At the same time, he is opposed to restitution for alien species and has many underlings with racist views, so he would be an ill-fitting ally of any movement seeking justice for the racist excesses of the old Empire.
The Military: Seeing it as a threat to his monopoly on the Gyndine system's defense services, the Governor would much rather that the Military stay as far away from his system as possible. However, given his ties to shipyards both on his own planet and to his family on Kuat, he supports keeping the Navy at its current size, if not larger yet. All to protect the New Republic, surely.
The Veterans: Even during the course of the Galactic Civil War, Apolin has taken in many veterans from across the Galaxy into the ranks of the Gyndine System Militia, providing a source of income to those who are willing to serve him. He will not, however, consider supporting any legislation that would significantly cut into his coffers to support these veterans.
The Economy: Arguably the area he is most flexible in regards to, the Governor is willing to compromise significantly on his economic policy. Gyndine emerged as one of the few planets that benefited from the Galactic Civil War, untouched by the horrors of battle and seeing a large increase in demand for their plentiful grain and ships. While perhaps averse to radical plans such as the abolition of slavery and the redistribution of wealth to stimulate the economy, he will be more than willing to engage in most economic plans...so long as he claims a share of the profit.
The Jedi: Selfless, unfeeling sorcerers from a bygone era. This is all the thought that Apolin would care to give to the Jedi, as these warrior-monks of the Force do not seem to be as easily persuaded as an inspector from the New Republic's alphabet soup of bureaucracy. He staunchly opposes the re-establishment of the Jedi Order in private, but is willing (in public, at least) to bring back the Jedi, though those who know him agree this is merely a ploy to disrupt allegations of Imperial sympathies.

Additional
Relations with other players: Will discuss later.
Additional info: I'm looking forward to a fun RP, and I thank you for reading my application and not having a horrific reaction to the quality of the image.

This looks good, and no worries about the image! The one question I've got to ask is how you plan on interacting with folks on Coruscant? It might be worth having either Tandres himself representing his system in the capital, or for you to also take on the role of Gyndine's Senator to help with character interactions? Other than that, consider our first self-serving snake accepted ;) I'll add him to a more formal list in the morn.

I think the former of the two suggestions, Tandres himself serving as the de facto representative of the Gyndine system, could prove interesting, especially if a Senator from Gyndine down the line tries to actually do their job, much to the Governor's chagrin.

We always have to have a warrior poet in these kinds of roleplays.

Application
Personal information
Name: Stefan McRaven
Age: 24 (20 BBY)
Species: Human
Appearance:
Image

Planet of origin: Onderon
Rank and title: Major Stefan McRaven of the Partisans
Short biography: Born in a short time of peace on his home planet of Onderon just before the Empire took hold, The McRavens were a trading clan on the planet, known for their sharp piloting skills and their competitive prices. They were early supporters of the rebellion against Sanjay Rash, the illegitimate king of the system, partially because the trade federation threatened their primacy on the market.

When the Empire took over, Onderon was thrust into conflict once more, as the people were in direct revolt against the regime, but the resources of the Empire could hardly be tangoed with for long as the presence on the planet began to increase with time. His family pulled him along with them, trying to escape Onderon when it was clear that Under the leadership of Saw Gerrera, the Partisans saw numerous missions across the Galaxy which included freeing Wookies from Kashyyyk, the assassination of Naboo Moff Panaka, and finally their presence at Jedha.

Jedha was a long campaign, putting the holy city under siege to slow the accumulation of Kyber crystals from the planet. It was during the later end of the occupation that Stefan began to actively take part in raids as he was just reaching manhood. With a life of indoctrination into the tactics and beliefs of the Partisans, Stefan was a quick study once he was put to the fight.

One day, he was sent by Saw to investigate rumors of a nearby station that would prove to cause trouble for the Partisans, but as he was leaving the planet, The Death Star made its fateful first blast on the Holy City, wiping out most of the remaining Partisans before they could escape the planet. After a brief incursion into Hutt Space to avoid capture and execution following the tragedy on Jedha, he joined The Alliance, a decision he would later write extensively about in his memoirs.

Stefan was of no large consequence as a soldier, but grew famous among the dissidents under the pen name of The Raven of Onderon. He wrote mainly pamphlets, arguing and cementing his views on the idea of the New Republic in the minds of the galaxy. Though he had plenty of detractors, his skill with the pen was undeniable and his work was banned by the Empire almost immediately, only increasing its popularity. While famous for his political treatises, he also wrote extensively on the nature of the life of a soldier and was able to capture that experience in a way that few others could.

Through his hardwork, and probably also to increase morale during the Civil War, he was granted the title of Major not long before the Battle of Yavin, leading a group of supporting forces on the Endor ground invasion at the time. Following the Battle of Endor, he retired and returned to Onderon, being hailed as a hero. He was chosen, surprisingly given his vocal opinions and relative lack of experience on the planet, to represent the system in the New Republic after the war as a way to satisfy the public in the face of former Imperial options presenting themselves for the position.
Political information
Political views:
..If one is looking to address the problem of slavery, in the Outer Rim especially, one must first acknowledge the economic reality of the greater galactic trade. The Outer Rim is exploited by those with the Inner Rim, and thus there is no absolved party in the face of slavery. The markets bid on it, the manufacturers profit from it, and the outer rim relies on it to survive. It follows then that in order to do away with slavery, a matter of moral import, one must invest in the infrastructure of the Outer Rim and raise the standard of living there to such a
degree that slavery is not required to turn a profit in the region. However, there are those that seek to quell such an endeavour, including....

.... those that would seek to take advantage of any individual regardless of the standard of living. I speak not exclusively of those organizations labeled 'criminal' by the Empire, as the line between what is moral and what is immoral is far more pertinent than a legal description, but instead to those that would, through intimidation and coercion, take grip within the Outer Rim and subjugate its people in their service, dominating nearly every aspect of life in the region. While I believe in the power of reform, it is imperative that we, the New Republic speak to these organizations in a language they understand, and instead coerce them into submission.

The question of amnesty is a hard one, because while the image of a stormtrooper draws from me a reaction that is deep and visceral in nature, one must overcome such instincts if we are to progress. Stormtroopers were our cousins, daughters, brothers and fathers, forced into a system that required loyalty at a time where dissent was not an option for everyone. As much as it goes against some deep fiber in my being, it is imperative that Stormtroopers remain absolved of their actions. However, it is also important that we place the blame where it is due. There are plenty of former and current Moffs, officers, and generals that would see a civilization wiped out in the quest for loyalty. The tragedies on Jedha and Alderaan cannot be forgotten, and thus we must bring the hammer of justice upon those that truly deserve its thrust.

The question of Imperial debts is a laughable notion for the New Republic to take on. The Rebellion was not a coup, seeking to retake the seat of government that existed and re-establish the government of old. It was, in the hearts of its supporters, a revolutionary body. There is no continuity between Imperial and New Republic chains of command. The Banks made an investment on the wrong body, and for that they should receive from the market whatever it is that is coming to them.

The promise of property under Imperial rule was backed by faith in the Imperial government, With that body gone, it is simply not the responsibility of the New Republic to protect property that was, in essence, stolen from native populations. However, it is not the role of the New Republic, in most cases, to enforce the return of this property, and instead this eventuality should be the role of strongly supported sector governors, the Republic only stepping in when the conflict over the issue reaches a level of bloodshed that is in accordance with the severity of a New Republic response

There still in small corners of the world, exist Imperial holdouts looking out for their own interests. They represent an unsustainable system, and a former government that no longer exists. Any military action taken by the New Republic should be limited to maintaining peace of warworlds, and to quelling the last of these Imperial Holdouts. This war is not over, and it will not be over until the last Imperial admits defeat and is tried in court for his actions.

The right to healthcare is imperative, and support should be given to local governors to provide it where need be. This is truly at the heart of the issue of uniting a divided galaxy. I may receive flak from some of my own allies for this position, but both soldiers of the Rebellion and the Imperials should have access to healthcare.

There is no replacing the worlds lost to refugees of the tragedies of the Galactic Civil War. Refugees must be resettled, ideally one their own planets where possible.

I am truly a proponent of a free and fair market, however, with the current conditions of the market, it must be recognized that the path of the free market will only lead to more suffering. We must first create the conditions for humanitarian growth in the standards of living, and then let free the market to decide who falls and who rises, with social programs for the governors to be supported on.

I am a religious man. I am also a practical one. While I support the reformation of the Jedi, it is imperative that they exist outside of the power structure of the government.

Political faction and subfaction: New Republicans-Parliamentarians
Organisational allegiance: Parliament and the Army
Position within galactic government: Senator from Onderon
Political goals: A working governmental structure, and investments in the outer rim territories
Favourable factions: Dentralists not tied to organized crime. The more humanitarian among the centralists. Ties to the Radicals.
Unfavourable factions: Old Republicans and Imperials, as well as criminal Decentralists and the more hard line centralists.
Key issue(s): The Economy, specifically in the Outer Rim. The Governmental structure being vetted and properly debated.

Application
Personal information
Name: Stebla Eveker
Age: 50
Species: Human
Appearance: https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/the ... 0615233410
Planet of origin: Coruscant, lower levels.
Rank and title: Chairperson of the National Progressive Party.
Short biography: Born into the lower levels of Coruscant, Stebla Eveker had a very rough upbringing. In order to escape the slums of Coruscant, Stebla sold himself to slavery and had himself shipped to the Middle-Rim to work as a factory worker. Once the Clone Wars started, Stebla opted to join the CIS after his planet was freed by said government. From there, he joined up in a CIS organic unit and fought in various battles against the Republic from Geonosis to Mimban. At the end of the Clone Wars and the Empire declared, he went into hiding for a few years. After everything settled down, Stebla sought to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The ending of the civil war brought Stebla into the Decentralists cause but later on, he joined the Centralist faction. Stebla then became disillusioned with the Republic as whole and decided to form his own party to strike out and try to form a new government against the injustice done by both the Republic and Imperialists in the form of the National Progressive Party.

Political information
Political views: Stebla Eveker is best described as a revolutionary radical separatist, a former offshoot of the Centralists in his fledgling years after the collapse of the Empire. Stebla favors more radical action to be taken against the social and economic injustice that the galaxy has to offer and sees the Republic and its democratic-ideals as ineffective tools to combat said injustice. The bottom line for Stebla is to aid the poor, disabled, downtrodden, and the best way that he thinks that it can be done is by socialist authoritarianism and to form a wholly different government separate from the current galactic government. Stebla wishes for a one-party-state that acts as a revolutionary vanguard with a strong executive branch to further the goals of revolutionary ideals. Stebla believes that the state should take an active role in promoting the general welfare and defense by expansive social programs and the built-up of the military-industrial-complex in order to protect against reactionaries. On the question of morals and rights, Stebla believes that access to food, water, medical care, and material needs outweigh the idealist thinking of liberty, freedom of speech, etc. In terms of economic ideals, Stebla believes in the rapid industrialization of the Outer and Middle-rim through a planned economy of five-year-plans in order to get caught up with the Republic and the core-worlds. Maybe in the future, once the process of sufficient industrialization is done then Stebla might think of moving more towards a mixed economy with only key-industries needing to be nationalized. Socially, Stebla favors equity of society, abolishment of slavery, and promotion of anti-discrimination laws. On the topic of amnesty, Stebla wants to court-martial the worst known offenders for both rebels and Imperialists, but also wants to quietly give amnesty towards certain mid-level officers and bureaucrats.

Political faction and subfaction: Radical Separatists - National Progressive Party - Totalist.
Organisational allegiance: National Progressive Party, Totalist.

Position within galactic government: Stebla is the overall head of a large political party known as the National Progressive Party (NPP) within the Outer and Mid-Rim. The NPP is mainly made up of immigrants, former slaves, displaced veterans and soldiers, and working class individuals (engineers, famers, production workers, etc) of low social status and in wealth. Within the Mid-Rim, the NPP has gathered a decent support base of factory laborers, former and current slaves, and the general urban poor. In the Outer-Rim, a heavy political battle goes on with different political factions with debates and shows of arms between the NPP and Imperial units. On the topic of militia/paramilitary, the NPP has various different groups of them in the Outer and Mid-Rim, which only causes more issues for the current party. Infighting is common among the NPP with different internal factions battling it out in the political scene. You have Totalists, authoritarian communists. Revolutionary Anarchists, a radical favor of the decentralists, and then lastly is the moderate faction of the Democratic-Revolutionaries, who advocates for a socialist federalist system. While a bit divided internally, the NPP is held together by the threats of the Imperialists, Republic, and their chairperson, Stebla, who has been working to better unite all the internal factions of the NPP.
Political goal: In the short term, Stebla seeks to enforce party unity and cooperation among the internal factions for the time being. He needs to stabilize the party’s internal tensions and refocus the NPP attention towards consolidating power in the Mid and Outer-Rim. Stebla also seeks to undermine the Revolutionary Anarchists and Democratic-Revolutionaries in favor of the Totalists, which requires replacing key-party positions with Totalist members and taking away popular support from the two internal factions. Stebla also has to keep an eye towards the Republic/Imperialists/Separatists (who don’t agree with the NPP) and try to keep them out of the affairs of the NPP, only if it threatens the goals of the NPP.

Favourable factions: Radicals, New Republican Centralists, Separatists.
Unfavourable factions: Decentralists/Sovereignists, Parliamentarians, Old Republicans, Status Quo Imperials, Palpatinists, Warlords, Early Imperials.
Key issue: Ecomony and Slavery.

I'm here, I'm interested, and I will be posting an application, but more to follow once I've actually read the OP and determined the situation and how to develop it further.

EDIT: Reserving Corellia, again but with a new application and twist.

As One Sun Sets...

Postby Kassaran » Fri May 22, 2020 4:29 pm

Application
Personal information
Name: Balador Roshin
Age: Born 57 BBY
Species: Corellian-Human
Appearance: He's received many implants and cybernetic enhancements over the course of his life in attempting to keep up with the 'trends' of leadership and life enhancement tech.
Planet of origin: Corellia
Rank and title: Chief Councilor, Sector Governor
Short biography: Born decades before anyone had even begun to believe the Republic could ever fall, Balador Roshin lived through the most tumultuous time in the Galaxy since the end of the Mandalorian Wars and the Sith Empire many hundreds if not thousands of years earlier. Serving in the Corellian Planetary Defense Forces as an accomplished logistics officer, he witnessed Order 66 and the aftereffects of Imperialization bring on a new time of villainy, hidden benath the Imperial veneer of 'Order' and 'Peace'. He nevertheless supported his people, working tirelessly with the Moffs and the Inquisition in the years following the fall of the Republic to bring about true peace and harmony upon his planet, only to be imprisoned when he was implicated in a rebel terrorist plot. When the Empire fell, it wasn't long before sympathizers and supporters from his many decades of service to Corellia and her people freed him and publicly pushed for his election to the Corellian Parliament.

Political information
Political views: Chief Councilor Roshin is an avid player on the galactic scale, working tirelessly to advance Corellian dominance over their trade routes and to expand their jurisdiction and control over other nearby sectors.
Political faction and subfaction: New Republican Decentralist
Organisational allegiance: Corellian Navy/Parliamentarians

Position within galactic government: As Chief Councilor of the newly developed and founded Corellian Parliament, he has quickly brought the local Imperial forces into line, begin rapid de-militarization and privatization of vital shipyards while keeping enough to enable refits and reorganizations of the vast numbers of vessels returning to Corellian space. He wishes to effect the overall scale of power the Republic exercises over old republic juggernauts and powerhouses such as Corellia, Kuat, and Mygeeto to name a few. He's made many friends over his years both as a regional administrator for the Corellian sector and advisor to the Imperial military authority, garnering much support from Imperials in spite of his lack of love for them in general.

Political goals: Chief Councilor Roshin is a staunch Soveriegnist and intends to quickly rebuild Corellian private shipbuilding industry while absorbing as much reclaimed and abandoned Imperial war materiel as possible to strengthen the Corellian Sector's claims to nearby regions of space. While he did not support the Centralization and manipulation of private industry and the scaling up of weaponization, he understood that this enabled the Empire to exert influence and achieve a degree of pacification not seen since the days of the High Republic.

Favourable factions:
-Parliamentarians are a close second to his own self-identified/affiliated faction, they have already developed a Galactic Parliament as well, which Roshin believes will be effective in the long run. Supporting them and their democratic approach, he believes that they may represent a means to put a check on the power of the military and the Senate, which ultimately was flawed and required less centralization of powers. He additionally believes that a Parliament made up of demographically representative elected officials would enable more pressing issues to be brought to the foreground and reduce bureaucratic filibuster.

-Early Imperials are a faction most would not expect the Councilor to side with, however he knew many before his incarceration and those who understood that the peace and stability brought by the Empire was desirable in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. While imprisoned, the Senate was abolished and it was only after the Emperor's death -and Roshin's release- that he managed to reestablish contact with many of his old compatriots. While he does not side with their pro-federal/centralist views, many are his friends and acquaintances he has known since the days of the Old Republic.

-Separatists find an ally in the Chief Councilor, his belief in the decentralization and voluntary involvement in the Galactic government that will arise in this new era of politics lends him credibility with those who want nothing to do with it. He knows that many people and many planets suffered under the many previous governments and desire nothing more than to find freedom and independence. They additionally help support his claims that centralization will only undermine the values that the rebellion fought for in the first place, independence and freedom from an unjust and tyrannical government.

-Corporatists and the Chief Councilor are perhaps two sides of the same coin that wishes for privatization and a scaling back of excessive nationalization and 'imperialization' process undertaken in the days of the Empire. The Chief Councilor believes that one of the best ways to enable the reconstruction of decimated industry and begin recouping the banks and the galactic stock market for their losses from the previous governments would be to enable the free market to once again run its course. While many may suffer from sudden shortfalls in stock and wealth, many more will gain the chance to enter the Galactic stage and revitalize the Galactic and local economies.

Unfavourable factions:
-Centralists may want to bring back a strong central government, nothing jeopardizes Roshin's plans more within his own faction than the Centralists, who staunchly oppose the idea of allowing greater degrees of planetary autonomy and authority. He enters into arguments with them often and believes they represent a dangerous descent back into the ways of the Empire and Palpatine's Republic.

-Old Republicans represent a form of lunacy in the mind of the Chief Councilor, the likes of which he only sees reflected in the Imperials and the Warlords, but he takes them seriously as they seem to believe that a return to the old ways is the best way about it all. While the 'Alliance to Restore the Republic' claims primacy in the efforts to defeat the Empire, it seems to completely discount the pain, suffering, and destruction its own carelessness brought upon the Galaxy. Palpatine or not, the weaknesses of the Republic have been laid bare by the machinations of time and to go back to the old system would be insanity to Roshin.

-Status Quo/Palpatinist Imperials are perhaps the group to which Roshin despises the most, representing the group which primarily orchestrated his incarceration and he takes out his frustrations on their representatives and emissaries through passive aggressive negotiations. While he understands that many were simply doing as they were told or perhaps suffer from some sort of obsession with maintaining peace and order, the scale of their activities and the means by which they do so are confoundingly authoritarian and extensive to the point of inducing madness and bureaucratic nightmares gift-wrapped in red-tape and veiled threats.

-Warlords are the one faction that Roshin enjoys a unique love-hate relationship with, in that they are useful idiots for his machinations to orchestrate the necessities of enabling higher planetary autonomy. With piracy, smuggling, and crime on the rise, the threat of a Warlord moving through a sector or a trade route can have devastating effects on the overall Galactic Economy, but a centralized military or Navy would ultimately take too much time to properly respond to the threats. Manipulating the news and responses to the Warlords, the Chief Councilor intends to show Corellian military supremacy against these rogue elements on the fringes of society while also bringing into clear focus the efficiency of the Planetary Defense Forces and similar de-centralized defense schemes.

Key issue(s):
-Amnesty represents one of the Corellian sector's most complex and pressing issues. While the Corellians suffered under the Empire, they also represented a vital backbone and stronghold of Imperial power, their vessels and ships produced from the many shipyards being of notable quality and construction. Many feel that the best approach to the issue of accountability would be a by-case tribunal, carried out by the planets from which those being accused initially hailed from. Seeing as many Corellians -to include famous generals and commanders on both sides of the Civil War- were spread across the galaxy due to the Imperial system of garrisoning, many have stated a desire to recall all natural-born Corellian citizens to the Corellian sector and for immediate cancellation or purchasing of their service contracts to bolster the growing Corellian Defense Forces and the movement for regional autonomy and sovereignty.

-Banking has taken the upper echelons of Corellian society by storm, the impending stock market crash when the now defunct imperial loans are allowed to hit the Galactic Economy will no doubt cause a galactic crisis, the likes of which hadn't been seen since the Separatist crisis of 22 BBY and many fear the repercussions it could have on the fledgling private industries across many recovering worlds. Business-owners, stock-market investors, and bankers alike all represent vital aspects of the looming problem and many ideas and schemes have been submitted to the Corellian Parliament, of which some have been enacted and are being acted upon even as the new Galactic Republic Senate and Parliaments meet to consider the same solutions and issues. Roshin is particularly invested in this issue as an early success and relief of Corellian debt to the intergalactic banking clan, or its successful navigation by skilled profiteers and business-owners could represent an additional feather in his cap and support for his push to enabling high planetary and regional authority over a centralized government.

-Defense will inevitably be an issue for any sizable and exposed planetary system or economic zone, but none is more important to the Corellian people as a result of their many investments and contributions to the defense and security of the Galaxy under the Empire. While these contributions were done under the threat of harm and danger, the Corellian people garnered and incredible reputation for being courageous, tenacious, and skilled fighters. It is with this reputation that the Parliament intends to ratify a law creating the Corellian Defense Forces as an integral part to Corellian society, accommodating the returning veterans from both sides of the Civil War.

Additionally, the Chief Councilor has had multiple new defense schemes brought to his attention, the likes of which have brought his attention to a previously unpopular scheme which may represent the New Republic's best chance at a semi-organized security force.

-Economy goes in hand-in-hand with Banking for the Corellians, the many loans taken out for the creation of the orbital shipyards on the behalf of the Empire now threaten to break their own backs and the need to make up for lost credits is pressing. Quickly enabling the private markets to build up infrastructure and to integrate the existing facilities to their own purposes may be just what the Corellians and many other individual planets and sectors need to remove their debt. Additional economic stimulus plans and checks to help revitalize core industries and public works and projects would additionally assist the Corellians with arguing for forgiveness of their debt, lowering of their interest rates, and creating a newly revitalized economic trade system which encompasses the Corellian Run and the Corellian Trade Spine. These plans for economic independence and revitalization come at a dangerous price as they inherently undermine the New Republic's control over trade in a sizable chunk of the Galaxy and many planets that would stand to benefit from more controlled trade schemes from a centralized government would lose this chance under an independent and sovereign Corellian trade initiative.

Additional
Relations with other players: None as of yet.
Additional info: Among the first acts of the newly independent and freed Corellian government was the forgiveness of the actions of many of its citizens in various far-off locales, offering them amnesty and reintegration into civilian society or possible enlistment in the newly created Corellian Defense Forces. This comes at the cost of relations with many planets which suffered under the Empire, but the Corellians cite their own struggles and the wanton crime which festered under Imperial rule as injustices which they were forced to move past to begin rebuilding.

Corellian Defense Forces are currently being revitalized and bolstered in strength by the reconciliation and securing of vast amounts of Imperial war materiel and skilled personnel which could swing the balance of power in many regions into Corellian favor. Raids on vast warehouses of Imperial materiel and new lines of trade with nearby planets and sectors, offering sums of money in return for discounted war machines, weapons, and ships have spurned some disagreements and fears with local allies and neighbors who view the newly elected Chief Councilor with suspicions of despotism, nepotism, or even worse, totalitarianism.

Public outcry and protests have been forcibly silenced multiple times in the last few weeks as the repatriation of certain war criminals from both sides of the conflict have made the HoloNet and planetary news cycles. As a result, there has been actions taken by the Corellian Parliament to enforce a mandatory civil lockdown of the news and free press to better mediate between the fledgling government and returning veterans, criminals, and persons of interest. Additional sightings of representatives from various organizations, to include the notorious Hutt Cartels, entering the Corellian system have been muted if not censored on their activities and actions. Suspicion has only grown in the absence of an official statement from the government beyond typical deflections from the Press Secretaries and Councilor of Public Information.

Oh yeah, the shipyards, the vast amounts of reclaimed war materiel, and the desire to perpetuate Corellian supremacy in a region of the Galaxy that has been destabilized by the loss of the Empire and the uncertainty that has come about with the founding of the New Republic. The Shipyards represent a nice bartering chip, but only as a source of production and manufacturing, if not the inherent economic value that comes from being able sell them off and use the credits to help relieve some of the debt to the Galactic Banks.

The current Corellian government really wants to reach stability first and then try and go for expanding its borders, but if it can expand and do so while also maintaining debt relief protocols and strategies, it will gladly do so. Additionally, the Corellians are very much set against the Republic in spite of those from their number that wanted to see the Empire end. Many joined it as part of a 'Rebellion', not the 'Alliance to Restore the Republic'. The injustices of the Empire do not equate with injustices against a tyranny by majority or similar 'taxation without representation' schemes.

Oh no, Stebla is not a senator at all. He's currently overseeing NPP forces against Imperial remnants out in the middle and outer-rim and doing a political campaign to separate from the current galactic government. His political officers and cell leaders at the lower levels of Coruscant are his most reliable line of communications on the planet.

Well..would Coruscant allow the NPP to be on its seats? Because the NPP is as much as a political faction as was the Vietcong, being a full tent of armed people who don't like the current government in power. The NPP has advocated for the death and murder of CEOs of known big companies and to separate from the galactic government to form a wholly new state from the core - doing so by any means, be violent or political. If anything, NPP representatives and the agents would meet with other people in various places like a house, shop, pit-shop, etc.

So if a member of the NPP was selected as a world's representative to the Senate, then they're part of the Senate - Coruscant doesn't really have any say in it (yet). Though if the NPP is purely focused on an armed uprising and don't want to engage in the political process at all, that probably won't fly. ICly, they'd know that any open rebellion against the New Republic wouldn't stand a chance - even with guerrilla warfare considering that the rebels know how to play that game too. And OOCly, you might have trouble interacting with other characters since they'd effectively be enemies to the NPP rather than as potential allies. I'd recommend shifting them towards being more interested in political involvement as well as maintaining somekind of paramilitary wing. They could be a party that calls for an independence vote from inside the halls of power a la the SNP in irl Scotland, while maintaining a semi-militarized armed force (some irl cases of that existed in the Weimar Republic).

The Empire of Tau wrote:Well..would Coruscant allow the NPP to be on its seats?

That works too. The NPP will have representatives, but the real work would be out in the middle-rim and outer-rim, where the NPP would try to install their own members into power in the local level, and start the process of separation non-official. There's also likely going to be a lot of political violent going about in the form of counter-protests, street battles, etc, within very unstable areas in the galaxy.

Thank you so much for relaunching this, Bentus. You made it look gorgeous. I’ll app as my own favourite faction in a bit: the Valorumists.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

Application
Personal information
Name: Piodas Marcona
Age: 56 (50 BBY)
Species: Human
Appearance:A younger Piodas, before he ceased dyeing his hair black from grey.
Planet of origin: Anaxes
Rank and title: Grand Admiral and Supreme Leader of the Coalition for the Preservation of Order
Short biography: If there is any single man that can be said to have lived galactic history in recent memory, it is Piodas Marcona. Born to a family that had served in the Republic Judicial Forces for generations, Piodas' career was set for him from birth, as much as he resented it in his younger years. He went through the Anaxes War College, serving in the Republic Judicial Forces until being enrolled into the Grand Army of the Republic, fighting Clone Wars and Outer Rim Sieges, becoming a captain by the time of the Battle of Coruscant and the end of the Clone Wars where he lost his eye.

Although he had loyalty to the Republic instilled into him during his time with the Judicial Forces, he also saw firsthand the corruption within the Republic, and quietly celebrated the transition to Empire, hoping that the combination of peace and new, strong government would restore peace and prosperity to the Galaxy, and so he continued to loyally serve, hunting down Separatist remnants and Jedi who had attempted to oust a legally elected Chancellor. He realised he was wrong too late. The Death Star was a wake-up call to him, a weapon of brute, pointless undirected tyranny. It's destruction he reacted to with silent relief, and he enthusiastically took up the hunt for the remaining Rebels across the northern end of the Outer Rim which he was responsible for both militarily and in terms of civilian governance.

The destruction of the Second Death Star and the surge of the New Republic with popular uprisings and mass desertions from the military in the wake of it resulted in Piodas creating a bastion of Imperial order amidst the collapsing government and petty warlords that rose up in the chaos, subjugating some, allying with others and simply destroying more. Inherently distrustful of the New Republic, Piodas has kept his distance from it, not engaging it in battle and more focused on consolidating his position and preserving his strength. As desertions increased, Piodas turned to the weapon of the Separatists; battle droids. Although many droid factories had been destroyed in the wake of the Clone Wars, he began to rebuild them and repurposed others, having held onto the former Separatist strongholds of Mygeeto and Muunilinst. Having restored order to the galactic north, morale and desertions remain a problem, as does infighting within his rather fractious coalition over their next course of action.

Political information
Political views: Piodas is an Imperial hardliner through and through, but of no loyalty to Palpatine personally.
Political faction and subfaction: Early Imperialist.
Organisational allegiance: Imperial Warlords.
Position within galactic government: Imperial Warlord.
Political goal: Maintain and advance his own power. Solidify his grasp on his coalition. Restoring the Empire remains a long way off and more of a distant pipe dream than anything actively sought.
Favourable factions: Imperial Warlords, potentially Status Quo and Early Imperials within the New Republic, maybe Palpatinists at a stretch.
Unfavourable factions: Everyone else. He's too dangerous to be left alive.
Key issue: N/A.
