Victory or Martyrdom
"When every nation clings strongly to its national identity and seeks independence, political empires are torn up and their components revert to their social origins."

Power however, does not come cheap. Through centuries of conquest and expansionism, the Kesultanan Besar had accumulated and created a great number of nations within its very borders. Nations being, communities united by language, history, culture, religion, and ideology. By enthroning the Bornean nation of Bruneian Malaya as the ruler of all the nations within its territory, numerous peoples find themselves denied their rightly-deserved self-determination as the identity of Bruneian Malaya influences its subject nations by forces it sees benevolent, but in truth does not serve justice to the national identities that it seeks to override.
It would have been only a matter of time, before some misfortune befell the Kesultanan Besar; shaking its foundation, and allowing the occupied nations of Malaya to see the light of freedom through the cracks, and the opportunity for them to uphold their national identities and pursue self-determination.
On April 20, 2069; a man by the name of Hafeez Natzar who claimed to be the descendant of the supposedly childless founder of Bruneian Malaya, assassinated the ruling Sultan and assumed the throne. Many among those that rallied under his banner were powerful people, with ties to influential aristocratic families; dissatisfied with their waning power. However, not many recognized his legitimacy; and soon, all across the Kesultanan Besar, unrest erupted into revolt.
Among the many factions that arose, came the Fardhinist Coalition; led by Farid Harun Sambwrna, the former Bendahara of Bruneian Malaya under its previous Sultan. In contrast to the greater centralization and consolidation of power sought by the Natzarists, the nations of Malaya saw in the Fardhinist Coalition, the promise of both self-determination, and solidarity and support among nations at the same time. The Fardhinist Coalition sought to dismantle the Kesultanan Besar, and establish in its place a coalition of several independent Malay nations all working together towards common goals and supporting each other.
Despite the matter of such affairs being the sole responsibility of the Malay nations however, foreign powers find themselves meddling in the civil war of which they should have little business to. Due to the geographic position of Malaya, the civil war has disrupted sealanes through which a large portion of the world's trade passes through; causing concern among nations whose economies are affected by such. Moreover, there grows the fear that Bruneian Malaya's nuclear arsenal may find itself in the wrong hands, pointing at the wrong targets; in case malevolent factions rise from the clearing smoke as the victors.
Whoever the true victor may be, there will be one truth that will not change among all the factions of the conflict. They will either attain victory, or martyrdom.
