"scramble 5 JU-64 Jets to intercept them, however do not engage. Find out their intentions and only fire if fired upon. I also want a SAM Site ready as soon as possible."
The Corporal saluted and ran off issuing the orders. Soon, on the connected air field, the 5 jets were arming and fueling up, taking off as soon as they got the confirmation to the tower. Within a few minutes, they were behind the british flight, visible due to its decals. The lead pilot hailed the British flight over his radio, first in German, then in English. Achtung, Sie fliegen über ein Gebiet unter deutscher Kontrolle, geben Ihre Absichten an oder müssen zur Landung gezwungen werden. Warning, you fly over an area under German control, state your intentions or have to be forced to land."

The RAF squadron, with numbers on their side, decide to engage.

The jets break away, pulling into the clouds. They soon reappear, screaming down from the air, releasing heat seeking missiles. One jet gets hit by fire and the pilot is forced to bail, but the others begin attacking the formation with lock on rockets and its 15mm chainguns.
Meanehile on the ground, the SAM site, hurriedly readied for combat, locks onto the lead plane and fires.

Meanwhile the second-in command (who has the rank Squadron Leader) engages their lead plane flanked by 4 other planes.
Downing the lead plane is their top priority, above the risk to their own lives.

"Black - 4, you got a few bogies on your tail." The lead jet, evading the streams of tracers. The Leader, glancing occasionally behind him, grabbed his radio, switched to his teams radio, and gave an order. "Ich ziehe gerade nach oben, ihre Flugzeuge sind nicht wie unsere Jets und werden in eine flache Drehung fallen. Engagieren Sie sie dann." He leveled his jet out, then quickly pulled straight up. To his excitement, the British planes followed him. As the Gs increased, he pulled on his stick as hard as possible to make the climb near vertical. As he continued straight up, the air got harder to breath, even with the flight suit, and he felt a few rounds smack into his jet. However, the plan worked perfectly, and he turned and looked as the planes engines began to stutter and soon they fell back, getting thrown into a flat spin. He pulled his jet up even more until he flipped it, then grabbed his radio as he screamed down towards the enemy, who were desperately trying to regain control of their craft. "engagieren, engagieren, engagieren!" He locked on to a plane, and fired at the same time, the other 3 jets did so as well

The Republic of India's continued shifting of forces into the Kasai and Katanga regions of the DRC continues mostly as planned. Although some fire was exchanged between 3/8 Company of the Deccan Rangers against an Aeisonian infantry column on the outskirts of Lubumbashi (as well as a smaller skirmish involving 4/8 Company and an armored patrol in Mbuji-Mayi itself), the Commander-in-Chief, Indian Forces (in the) Congo Basin, Lieutenant General Rahul Chatterjee, has greenlit the continued airlifting of logistical units and the first three reserve brigades of the BJP's paramilitary Hindutva guardsmen into the southeast of the country. Some fighting does occur in the seedier (that is to say, the non-diamond-reliant/slummy areas of town, which could arguably be called the entire city outside of the local Indian base, the airfield, and the UN establishment in the center of Lubumbashi) areas of the city, but are quickly quieted down by the army's deployment of soup kitchens and soldiers alike. After a few days spent pacifying the city, specially flown in Indian rolling stock, carrying about three thousand infantrymen and their equipment, allows for the pacification and some semblance of order in a small strip of Katanga, stretching along the national highway from Kolwezi-Likasi-Lubumbashi and firmly anchored along the Zambian border.

In Boma, the first three Indian gunboats arrive and, with their complement of 150 marines, formally seize the port there from the DRC authorities under the banner of the United Nations. Although this presence is rather meager compared to the massive deluge of heavily armed foreigners and the Aeisonian aircraft carrier battle group offshore, this small toehold in the Congo's most important port should help in the enforcing of UN sanctions and resolutions pertaining to trade and warfare in the Congo. The INS Vikrant, India's third aircraft carrier, and its escorts have cast off from their anchorage in Kochi and can be expected to arrive within the next two weeks (as, at last report, they have been sighted rounding the Cape of Good Hope). Further south in Luanda, five more Indian warships, along with three troopships and a tanker, are preparing to reinforce the Boma garrison. The commandant there, Colonel Ranjit Rahimyar Khan, has no intention of ordering his men or ships to go on any offensive missions further than the downriver cataracts of the Congo, but has the High Command's backing to defend his post with all resources available.

A refurbished squadron of Su-31s and MiG-29IFs arrive in Lubumbashi to protect the Ilyushin transport squadron already present in the area, and some take to the skies to enforce the Republic's unilateral declaration of a no-fly zone over Katanga and North/South Kasai. A fighter wing, equipped with Su-33s and based at Hyderabad Airport, waits at Luanda alongside their transports to deploy in the DRC's 20-mile-long coastal region, which by most accounts has been secured by the Indian Army.
Radio Katanga is restarted, with government funding, as the official mouthpiece of the Indian military mission in the DRC.
Anti-beriberi and malaria vaccination drives are initiated in the region, although due to the relative youth of these efforts their effects remain unknown.
In addition, under the guidance of Subadar Noor Vadodara, the head protection officer assigned to the Katangan government, preparations for elections in that province begin under Indian oversight. The Kasai and Boma regions are still considered too restive and uncontrolled for the army to oversee the installation of a new provincial government in those areas.

The Indian government observes the erupting conflict between the British and New Delhi's arch-rival Pakistan against the fascist interlopers with much concern, but publicly declares its policy of armed neutrality, i.e. India will not go on offensive operations against those warring powers, but will defend its area of responsibilities, assets, interests, and forces to the fullest of its ability if attacked. The Indian Navy is to begin patrols off of Indian sovereign waters and just outside of Pakistan's territorial waters in its EEZ in conjunction with the Indian Air Force in response to this new war. Islamabad's attitudes towards India with relation to this conflict are unknown but until assurances of non-aggression are given by the Pakistani side, these Indian deployments in the Arabian Sea will continue. In the meantime, some Indian diplomatic overtures to Zambia are made, offering to purchase Zambian copper at a certain percentage of its national production at a 6.75% markup of their June 2050 market price for five years in exchange for allowing Indian forces to cross Zambian territory and utilize Zambian roads and railways to reach their bases in the DRC and to return home for the duration of the UN mission. If it becomes necessary to resupply the Indian forces stationed in the Congo basin through terrestrial means, New Delhi may have to seize critical rail links and roadways temporarily in the country to keep them from starving; but the Indian government would like to resolve this logistical bottleneck for its forces in the DRC in a diplomatic and fair manner. We hope the Zambians are amenable to negotiations and that we can have a fruitful relationship between our two proudly independent states.

44,000 feet above the all-consuming Congolese jungle, near the lakeside town of Kalemie, a flight of 6 Indian MiG-29s cruised on their way from Dodoma Airbase to Lubumbashi Airport.
"Bandsaw Five, this is Bandsaw Three."
The sky was clouded over, with billowing sheets of grey and stormy clouds, holding the promise of rain as always, 20,000 feet below. The relatively dusty town below would be quite happy to receive some rainfall, considering the unusually long dry streak that this area of Africa had run and its increasingly meagre crop yields. The fighter jets were high; not high enough to see the curvature of the earth, but they could make out over 300 miles of terrain and verdant forest, with the rightmost edge of their cockpit allowing for a view of Lake Tanganyika and with the rest of the windshield permitting the pilots to make out the cloud cover below and a few lush mountains here and there.
"Bandsaw Three, copy."
"Potential bogies on our ten, maybe 15,000 feet below. I can clearly see some tracer fire and some sort of dogfight going on."
"Thank you Bandsaw Three, this is Bandsaw Five, gentlemen, continue on course and do not engage unless fired upon. We should cross their path for maybe twenty seconds and after that we should be safe."
The six ageing jets continued at their subsonic cruising speed of .88 mach, and all appeared to be well. Just in case, Bandsaw Flight switched over their radio transmissions into the clear, so that the combatants would not mistake them for their respective hostiles.

"Bandsaw Five! I've been hit!"
The Wing Commander glanced at his instrument panel, his breath now labored, and took a cursory glance over his shoulder over where Bandsaw Two, the most recent pilot to have joined the wing, had been, and only saw flame. The poor man's ejection seat didn't work, as the rest of the wing's survivors saw, when his canopy flew off into the sky but his seat remained in place as he audibly and frantically pulled on the ejection lever. Angered, the squadron burst into a stream of obscenities directed at the aerial kerfuffle below and the man who'd shot down their comrade. Bandsaw Five hurriedly reported the situation back to Control along with their radar coordinates from his flight computer, and then pulled his aircraft in a sharp turn to the right and upwards, in pursuit of the British aircraft.
"Bandsaw Flight, permission to engage. Hostile aircraft, this is Flight Lieutenant Tenzin Tsyaltsen of the Royal Bhutanese Air Force, in command of Bandsaw Flight of the IAF. We shall show you no mercy, and extract our revenge for the fallen of our own."
Pulling a Pugachev's cobra, he lined his nose up behind the glowing orange cherries of the nearest British jet's afterburners, and pulled the trigger, and the rest of his squadron broke off into the melee and did much the same.

The Orionite Republic condemns in no uncertain terms the illegal attempt to create a colony out of the Congolese nation. The Orionite nation declares the Democratic Republic of the Congo to be a sovereign, inviolable nation. Our current zone of operations is in the province of Kongo Central and will expand to the city of Kinshasa in the coming months. We are sending thousands of doctors to aid in the destruction of AIDS using the new vaccine developed by the Orionite healthcare industry. We are also sending 500 economic advisors to aid in planning the Congo’s new free market economy.

The 4 remaining jets fly off, landing back at their base. The Flight Leaders Jet crash lands with him only sustaining minor injuries. A new warning is sent to British Forces.
