Godmod injuries to my players: No

Hand out red cards to my players: Yes, no more then one more then you give yourself.
Godmod other events: TG idea first. If it fits the theme of my team, I probably will allow it.
Nations RP’ing against us are free to use anyone in the “Also On Roster” section as a substitute.

Pandemic RP Note: While I fully respect the right of everyone to RP their nation as they see fit, and that includes whether or not they want to RP a pandemic, please be aware that I will not be interacting with any such RP. Being affected by it in real life (on unemployment with two young ones), this is an escape for me from that reality. If I choose to acknowledge an opponent’s possible pandemic RP, I will simply say that your nation is overreacting to the flu. More then likely though, I will just not do a dedicated match report for that matchup.

Republic of Port Ember National Football Team - World Cup 85 Qualification Campaign

Brief Overview of Port Ember

The Republic of Port Ember is a nation comprising of a tropical archipelago within the Northern Ocean and is considered as a regional superpower and international economic giant. The tropical nation is governed as a constitutional democracy in the form of a Republic. The nation considers itself as a champion for personal liberty and economic freedom, and is seen as one of the most free and wealthiest nations in the world. The two billion citizens are considered to be world wise and innovative, considering the art of world trade & travel, making money and engaging in bar brawls as the foundation of their national culture. The nation also possesses two colonies - Braziliztan and Port Arthur which they gained during bloody wars to uphold international freedom and human rights.

Brief History of Football in Port Ember

Prior to World Cup 83 Port Ember had a very limited football culture and infrastructure, with interest and development on par with international amateur leagues. The sport slowly gained interest within the Republic due to the widespread media coverage the sport received and slowly but surely the masses started calling for port Ember to enter the international football scene. The people's voices were heard and the Port Ember Football Association (PEFA) received a massive financial injection with which to kickstart the road to enter the international scene. PEFA established the "Port Emberian Youth Football Project", which saw a large group of 14-year old children chosen to become the future of Port Emberian football - training together and being developed into future stars. Four years later the team was finally ready to storm the world - and they did so by participating in the Baptism of Fire 70 tournament. Although they failed to win the tournament as hoped, they won Bronze for finishing in third place. Although only achieving third place, this tournament was a massive victory for PEFA since it managed to awake a sleeping giant- the entire nation rallied behind the national team and the team turned into national hero's and idols overnight. Modern, state of the art stadiums jumped up across the nation, quickly filled by passionate fans supporting newly formed domestic clubs. Children and adults alike took to the streets and local stadiums to kick ball - creating a massive pool of new potential players on a scale never seen before in any sport in Port Emberian history. Next, the inexperienced but passionate Dragons entered the qualification campaign for World Cup 83, meeting true professional giants in the footballing world. Although failing to qualify for the World Cup proper, the team managed to make a massive wave on the international stage - showing the world that they had the capability to cause upset after upset, relying on pure passion, fitness and youth despite their inexperience. Their strong showing in the qualifier campaign earned them an invitation to the esteemed Cup of Harmony 75 tournament. Once again the young team was seen as complete underdogs against the giants of the tournament. Again the young Port Emberian squad managed to cause spectacular upsets, finally being knocked out in the Quarterfinals of the Cup. Returning home, the new hero's joined the newly formed domestic league and lay the foundation of a modern and professional football league and infrastructure. The Qualification campaign for World Cup 84 commenced, with the Dragons once again being considered underdogs in the face of very strong and established teams. After a rocky start the team shocked the world as they took their group by storm, winning 10 consequently matches, qualifying for the World Cup proper by grabbing the runner up spot in their group - becoming one of few teams who could manage to qualify for the grandest stage of them all on only their second attempt. The lowest ranked side of the tournament celebrated a bit too soon as they were torn back to humility in the World Cup, losing all their World Cup games, failing to enter the Knockout Stages. The team continued to build and hone their technical skills whilst retaining their passion and fitness in an attempt to prove that they were not lucky - they were here to stay. They managed to prove to the world and themselves that they belonged on the international stage during the Independant Association Cup 9, grabbing Bronze in the end. After another period of domestic preparation, the "constant underdogs" are ready once again to make waves on the international scene.

Roster: Starting Squad

Backline

- Goalkeeper (GK)(#1): Peter Smith. || Age: 22|| Height: 1.8m || Weight: 98kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Lovingly nicknamed The ONLY Keeper, or "Iron Man", Peter Smith is a metaphorical machine between the sticks. He has tiger like reflexes and nerves of steel. He has managed to block shots before which can be considered "unstoppable". This player is considered a "Star Player."
- Center Back (CB)(#2): Josh Richards. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.82m || Weight: 102kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Josh is a very fit and strong young man who is known for playing a physical game, normally resorting to aggressive play when his lackluster technical skills fails him. Many fans and critics alike was surprised at his inclusion into this round after constant poor performances in the previous cycles - as the Port Emberian defences as a whole have been criticized since the inception of the team. Coach Baxter however has stated that he has displayed vastly improved technical skills during the Selection Camp.
- Center Back (CB)(#3): Jason Lee. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.78m || Weight: 94kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Honestly speaking, the only player in the backline who actually deserves to be here, as this young lad has displayed both professional technical skills and chief-like organising skills when rallying for defence. He has proven time and again that he can keep his fast and full pace going for the full 90 minutes. Furthermore his keen eye and agility makes him a utility player, as he is just as comfortable in the midfield when needed. Nicknamed the "Prince of Defence", he is classified as a "Star Player" and has earned several Man of the Match awards as proof.
- Full Back (LB)(#4): Alex Kuhn. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.83m || Weight: 104kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Alex is one of the largest and strongest players on the team, and with his amazing pace and stamina he can become a real problem for the opposing attackers. He does lack the technical skills one might expect from an international player, but his aggression and hard hitting tackles makes up for that (even though it regularly costs his team free kicks and penalties).
- Full Back (RB)(#5): Russel Pierce. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.84m || Weight: 102kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Russel is what can be considered a "typical Port Emberian Defender" - being a large, strong and fit player with not much technical skill, using his strength and agility to overpower his opponents.

Midfield

- Attacking Midfield (AM)(#10): Ray Reddington. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.8m || Weight: 94kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 3 || The first and so far only captain in the National Team's history, with not a single soul ever doubting that he deserves this role. Reddington is arguably the best player on the team today, as he is a true playmaker, creating gaps for his strikers, and a defensive organiser - aggressively fighting for possession while organising his defensive line. He is also a great utility player, being able to perform well in defence, midfield and even as a competent striker. He was a massive fan favourite during the last two World Cup Cycles for his consistent excellent performances on the field. The media and fans lovingly chants "Red" loudly during matches. Has received many Man of the Match Awards.
- Defensive Midfield (DM)(#6): Steven Packard. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.75m || Weight: 97kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 1 || Despite being slightly smaller, Packard is a strong and fast player, excelling well in the midfield. He is good at pressuring his opponents, competent at stealing the ball, and has a good eye to open gaps for his strikers. He has become well known for his physical take-downs in both the last two World Cup Cycles.
- Wide Midfield (LM)(#8): Jason Chamberlain. || Age: 21 || Height: 1.76m || Weight: 96kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 1 || Although Jason lacks the raw talent when compared to his team mates, he is a hard worker and have slowly but surely developed solid technical skills. He might never become a "Star Player" - but his constant solid performance during matches makes him a valuable asset to the team.
- Wide Midfield (RM)(#11): Eric Tosaír of the Tribe of Waterford || Age: 21 || Height: 1.78m || Weight:94kg || Caps: 30 || Goals: 8 || This player is a newcomer to the National Team, as he did not form part of the Youth Program, or partook in the World Cup 83 Cycle, but he did perform absolutely brilliantly in the World Cup 84 Cycle. He was chosen to replace Steve Rogers in this position due to Steve's knee injury obtained during the Premier League just before World Cup 84, and his performances have managed to ensure him replacing Steven for good. This young talent managed to make a good name for himself during the Premier League and last World Cup and quickly became a fan favourite. He has proven to be a strong and fast player, excelling well in the midfield. He is good at pressuring his opponents, competent at stealing the ball, and has a good eye to open gaps for his strikers. He has displayed great bursts of speed and agility which can easily catch his opponents off guard. Interesting to note is that he is a Half Selkie (Selkie Father, Port Emberian Mother), but born in Port Ember. This has made him a bit of an outsider and not a very social person. His great skills and talent compsensates well for this however.

Strikers

- Central Forward (CF)(#7): Leon Moult. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.73m || Weight: 91kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 35 || Leon is a fantastic striker and the rise of Port Emberian football owes him a great deal of gratitude for the effort and spectacular goals he scored. Leon is a fast and energetic player with excellent dribbling skills. He normally plays only one half of the game due to his intensity when on the field. He plays his heart out when given the ball and is a very clinical striker when a scoring oppertunity arises. He has earned the reputation of stealing goals at the last minute, snatching victory for his team.
- Central Forward (CF)(#9): Danny Nicovic. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.73m || Weight: 90kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 65 || Danny is by far the most iconic player in the team and has been called a national hero by more than one media house. He is seen as an absolute world class striker and an absolute fan favourite, having earned the nickname "Golden Child" - which the energetic fans always chant loudly during matches. He always plays his heart out when given the ball and is a very clinical striker when a scoring oppertunity arises. He is considered a "Star Player" with a ton of Man of the Match awards and bags of goals to prove it.

Roster: Reserve Squad

Backline

- Goalkeeper (GK)(#12): Jack Allwick. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.8m || Weight: 96kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Jack is a solid keeper - talented enough to be considered a professional, yet without the adequate play time under his belt to be considered a "great keeper" and is very much a wild card, thus would probably not find himself starting a match any time soon.
- Goalkeeper (GK)(#13): Trevor Carson. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.82m || Weight: 100kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Trevor has had a a decent season during the last Port Emberian Premier League, yet his situation is much in line with that of Jack Allwick, and lacks the required exposure to full time International game time.
- Center Back (CB)(#14): Bruno Martins. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.83m || Weight: 104kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || A solid defender with promising talent who needs a bit more experience on the international level, but is able to hold the backline well enough during late games to replenish the defensive effort.
- Center Back (CB)(#15): Victor White. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.81m || Weight: 99kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Victor might not be ready to start a match yet, but has proven to be a very effective impact player during the late game phases.
- Full Back (LB)(#16): Theo Hermandez. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.83m || Weight: 104kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || A very big and strong young lad, he is an excellent impact player. However he is a bit of a wild card due to his tendency for rough play, quickly picking up yellow cards.
- Full Back (RB)(#17): George Lindsey. || Age: 21 || Height: 1.79m || Weight: 97kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || A solid defender in the making. He still has lots of skills to learn and experience to gain, but is showing excellent promise at his ripe young age.

Midfield

- Attacking Midfield (AM)(#18): William Carvello. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.8m || Weight: 95kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 4 || A solid midfielder in the making. He still has lots of skills to learn and experience to gain, but is showing excellent promise at his age. He stood in for Captain Reddington during a period of the previous WCQ when the latter was injured, and brought an amazing attacking play style to the team.
- Defensive Midfield (DM)(#19): Liam Grimshaw. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.75m || Weight: 91kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 0 || Liam is a talented yet inexperienced midfielder who might see some late game action to rejuvenate the midfield during tough games.
- Wide Midfield (LM)(#20): Fraser Murray. || Age: 22 || Height: 1.77m || Weight: 88kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: || Fraser is normally used as a late game impact player and has been pretty successful in opening gaps during late games.
- Wide Midfield (RM)(#21): John Swift. || Age: 21 || Height: 1.78m || Weight: 88kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 3 || Another solid and talented impact player who has made his mark on a number of occasions.

Strikers

- Central Forward (CF)(#22): Ryan Bowman. || Age: 21 || Height: 1.74m || Weight: 92kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 10 || Ryan is a very talented striker who posesses great pace and excellent dribbling skills. He normally plays only one half of the game due to his intensity when on the field. Perhaps a possible starter in the future.
- Central Forward (CF)(#23): Jason Status. || Age: 21 || Height: 1.69m || Weight: 89kg || Caps: 58 || Goals: 5 || Talented and energetic, still needs to improve on his technical skills if he wishes to become a starter. Has scored some marvelous goals in the past however.

* (This is International Caps and does not include Domestic Games)

Backroom Staff

- Team Manager: Stuart Baxter. || Stuart Baxter is appointed as the Team Manager / Head Coach, who was in charge of the Youth Program since its inception, and led the young team during the World Cup 83 and 84 Cycles. Before this appointment, he was the national coach for Braziliztan for 4 years, which is now a colony of Port Ember. He is passionate about the sport and even more so about his young team, refering to them as "his kids". He was critized by the media during the Baptism of Fire 70 Tournament for his perceived arrogance during Pre-Match Interviews, however he did apologise for this and appeared more humble during the remaining cycle. He was praised alongside his staff and team to have ushered in a 'Social Revolution' which have caused the birth of Football Passion within Port Ember. After the team qualified for the World Cup 84 he has become a household name within the Republic and a true celebrity and national hero.
- Assistant Head Coach: Connor Davies. || Connor Davies worked as the assistant head coach for Braziliztan for four years under Coach Stuart Baxter before moving over to the Port Ember Youth Program alongside Stuart Baxter. He is a very technical coach, regarding the sport as a science instead of a sport. During the World Cup 84 Cycle, the importance of bench players was realised, therefore Connor focuses mainly on developing the bench players during training days, while still filfulling his traditional assistant coach duties.
- Defensive Coach: Daryl House. || Daryl House was the previous Head Coach of the Port Emberian club 'Waterstad Pirates', (prior to PE turning international), before joining the youth program in 2014. Before the commencement of the World Cup 83 Cycle, many sports publications praised his technical knowledge as a defensive coach, and many believed he was in line to become the next possible future head coach, due to his keen eye and attention to detail. However as Port Ember's defence has beem criticised as being the weaklink of the team, this is no longer the case. In fact many has openly questioned why he was not replaced for the upcoming Cycle.
- Attacking Coach: George SinClaire. || George was the previous Head Coach of the Port Emberian club 'Gold Coast Raiders', (prior to the World Cup 83 Cycle), before joining the youth program in 2014. Many sports publications have praised his technical knowledge as a attacking coach, and is well known for his passion and short temper, on and off the training field, regularly landing him in trouble with the law.
- Goalkeeping Coach: Jonathan Peters. || Jonathan was the previous Head Goalkeeper (player) of the Port Emberian club 'Gold Coast Raiders', before joining the youth program in 2014. Many sports publications have praised his newly found talent as a coach instead of a player, allowing his students to gain valuable skills. He has received much acclaim due to the great performance that the team's goalkeepers have displayed in the World Cup 83 & 84 Cycles.
- Fitness Coach: Neil Strauss. || Neil Strauss was a former Mixed Martial Arts Sensei who have trained a dozen champions before joining the youth program in 2014. Many sports publications have praised his vast knowledge regarding human physiology, which he uses to optimise the fitness levels of his players, to almost miracle like levels. The Port Emberian side was clearly one of the fittest teams in the World Cup 83 & 84 cycles, and Neil has received much acclaim for it. He is the 'Most wanted for an interview' in the fitness media at the moment.
- Team Doctor: Dr Toby Curtiss. || Doctor Curtiss is a qualified medical doctor who specialises in sports injuries. He has vast medical experience, which he gained as a truama surgeon during his service with the Port Emberian Special Forces. He is well known as a brilliant doctor and as a 'no nonsense hardass' when it comes to his work.
- Massage Therapist: Sally Jones. || Sally Jones is a young and passionate massuese who is well known for posessing 'Magical Hands'. She has been with the team since the inception of the youth program and have been with the team during the World Cup 83 & 84 Cycles, keeping the players fresh and ready for their games on such a tight schedule.
- Physiotherapist: Dr Jolene Michels. || Dr Michels is an experienced Physiotherapist known to be extremely caring of the players in the teams, sometimes described as a 'real life empath'. She owned her own practice before joining the youth program at its inception. She worked hard during the World Cup 83 & 84 Cycles to ensure her players did not succumb from minor injuries, and kept them fit and healthy.

Team Tactics

Prefered Formation: 4-4-2
Style Modifier: +3
The team has quite an unique playstyle, reflecting much on the genetics of the average Port Emberian. They prefer a fast, aggressive and hard game, playing to their benefits of being a athletic and powerfull race. Their 'Signature Play' is an interesting one, which can almost be seen as a gamble. A possibly effective gamble however. They would bait the opposition to push far ahead to their goal area hard, to lure most opponent players into their half of the field. Thereafter the strong and aggressive defence would steal the possession from the opponents, and powerfully kick the ball deep to the other side of the field, where the Port Emberian strikers would use their athletisicm to chase down the ball in a counter attack, outrunning the majority of the opponents, and pushing hard until a goal is scored. It is due to this playstyle that the local sportswires have dubbed it a "Aggressive Counter Attack Style".

OOC Notes
- I would like to apologize if the majority of my roster seems like a wall of text (it does on mobile). However spacing (which makes the post look good on mobile) tends to give certain folk a proper heart attack/stroke/aneurism.
- Apologies for my logo. I know it's big, but it's what I have. I only have access to mobile and have failed to get it smaller. And it does not make sense to spoiler a logo. So for those who needs to get a proper heart attack/stroke/aneurism because it's big - good luck with your health.
- Same message as above for my team kit. Its spoilered at least. So don't open the spoiler if you are prone on getting proper heart attacks/strokes/aneurisms.
♤ And my proudest work - Hydra Industries - I created all my own military equipment.

The Tranquil Isles of Riena
First-team squad for the 85th World Cup (Qualifiers)

For opponents
I give my opponents permission to roleplay anything within reason, save for cycle- or career-ending injury and death of my players. If you think a particular event may be too unrealistic or outlandish, feel free to contact me either via telegram or Discord to discuss. You can also contact me if you need me to furnish further details for your roleplay.

For this cycle, please do not roleplay anything pandemic-related in relation to Riena or Riennese characters. I will not be recognising the existence of any pandemic in any form whatsoever.

Please also note that I will usually update my records for the Riena national team in the hours following a scorination. I would appreciate it if you could take a minute to check here for the Riena starting XI, goalscorers, and substitutions before beginning work on your posts. In the event that I have not gotten around to updating the records, feel free to roleplay the match as you see fit - given the brand of fluid football Riena plays, as well as the versatility of Riennese players in general - you have a lot of scope to be creative with just about anything football-related!

For hosts
Please apply a style modifier of 0 - and thanks for hosting!

Players listed in orange are starters in their respective positions. All statistics are accurate as of the start of this tournament.

1 • Miho MINATO
Goalkeeper; 20; 13 caps; 1 clean sheet; unattached

A steady and reliable shot-stopper, Minato is a physically imposing presence in goal. She is not a flamboyant technician and dislikes taking unnecessary risks with the ball, preferring to quickly recycle possession into her defenders or midfielders. Owing to her physical advantage, Minato is a goalkeeper who is not afraid to take charge in her own area, often taking it upon herself to catch or punch crosses into the six-yard box instead of leaving her defenders to sweep up the danger. Blessed with sharp reflexes, decent positioning, and a positive approach to goalkeeping - especially in her own six-yard box - Minato is a calming presence behind her defenders. With the erratic Kugimiya and inexperienced Shiina the only other options available to Riena at the moment, Minato looks set to be Riena's first-choice 'keeper for at least the next several cycles.

25 • Subaru KUGIMIYA
Goalkeeper; 19; 7 caps; 1 clean sheet; unattached

Kugimiya is an aggressive sweeper keeper who is not afraid to help out her defenders whenever the side are caught in possession. She possesses the requisite pace and technical ability to thrive in a Riena team placing great demands on its goalkeeper's footwork. Her game revolves around shutting down opposition counterattacks using her anticipation and speed off her line, allowing the team's to adopt a higher defensive line than would otherwise be possible, and initiating attacking moves with accurate long range distribution, bypassing high pressing manoeuvres by the opposition. The high risk, high reward nature of her play style means that Kugimiya is more susceptible to committing high-profile errors and mistakes, and she can be prone to catastrophic lapses of concentration. The eccentric 'keeper can be equally capable of the sublime or the farcical; she managed to save three penalties against the Grearish Union in the BoF, only to let in all seven she faced versus Mavinet in the very next match.

50 • Maya SHIINA
Goalkeeper; 17; 0 caps; 0 clean sheets; unattached

Shiina is a youth-team goalkeeper, and the most callow of Riena's current batch of 'keepers. She is a good reflexive shot-stopper, but her game remains riddled with all the flaws and deficiencies that one would expect from a seventeen-year-old just starting her international career, but she is a promising prospect who may well develop into a decent senior-level 'keeper - if she manages to supplant both Minato and Kugimiya for a spot in the starting XI. This cycle has likely come too soon for Shiina to make any sort of significant impact, but she will get playing time in any dead rubbers in qualifying. If she can show that she is ready for senior multiversal football when afforded a chance to play, Shiina may be able to force her way into the Riena starting XI for upcoming tournaments.

3 • Kano URUHA
Left-back/left wing-back/left winger; 20; 12 caps; 0 goals; unattached

A repurposed winger, Uruha is a pacy left-back whose marauding runs provide Riena with an attacking outlet down the left flank. Despite nominally being a defender, her natural attacking instincts mean that she is often effectively deployed as a wing-back, or an auxiliary winger, rather than a conventional defender. She possesses neither strength, height, or defensive nous, and has an unfortunate tendency to lose concentration when targeted. From an attacking perspective, Uruha is an accomplished dribbler who favours cutting infield with the ball to make space on the flank for her winger. Her finishing is above average for a defender, especially when she has the ball on her favoured left foot, and she is not averse to hitting speculative efforts from range.

22 • Kaede IGARASHI
Left-back/left wing-back; 19; 13 caps; 1 goal; unattached

Igarashi is a useful option at left-back who can be relied upon to do her primary job of defending well. She is a largely conventional full-back, an atypical departure from Riena's abundance of suicidally-offensive wing-backs/wingers, who is actually better at keeping the ball away from her own goal than she is at forcing it home at the other end. While she is not nearly as adventurous as Uruha is, Igarashi still contributes to Riena's attacking play - she is the best crosser in the team, and her ability to strike a ball cleanly has earned her a reputation as one of Riena's dead-ball specialists. She won't score too many goals, but Igarashi will be expecting to embellish her first-team credentials by firming up the Riena defence while getting her share of assists.

6 • Yui NARITA
Central defender/defensive midfielder; 22; 12 caps; 1 goal; unattached

An elegant ball-playing central defender who is equally at home in midfield as she is in defence, Narita's main strength lies in her accurate distribution from defence. Comfortable under pressure, her distribution from deep within the defensive third is a potent weapon, especially against opposition seeking to press the team high up the pitch. Narita's ability to play in midfield also allows her to move forwards and give Riena an extra player in the middle of the park, which is always an option when the team finds itself struggling to maintain control against inferior opposition. Defensively, she can be quite vulnerable; a particular weakness is her lack of dominance in the air, which often leads to opposition attempting to target her ahead of her central defensive partner. She has lost her place in the starting XI to Mao Tsukamoto after a shaky BoF, but her versatility means she can expect some game time, either as part of a back five or at the base of midfield.

15 • Mana AMEMIYA
Central defender; 21; 15 caps; 1 goal; unattached

Amemiya is a solid, uncompromising option in central defence, usually playing the foil to more technically accomplished defenders alongside her. A robust, physically imposing defender, she is particularly strong in the air and in the tackle. While perhaps not as technically gifted as a typical Riennese player, Amemiya makes up for her technical shortcomings by adding a touch of grit and steel to complement her teammates' comparatively adventurous play. Another area in which she excels is in her reading of the game and keen sense of danger, often allowing her to be in the right place at the right time to snuff out opposition attacks at source. Can be a little slow off the pace, though given her age, that is something that she can be expected to improve upon with effort and experience.

30 • Mao TSUKAMOTO
Central defender/right-back/defensive midfielder; 20; 12 caps; 2 goals; unattached

A no-nonsense defender with a surprising eye for a pass, Tsukamoto was once the bridesmaid to her flashy senior Narita, but a series of excellent performances during Riena's Baptism of Fire campaign has allowed Tsukamoto to overtake Narita as first-choice central defender alongside Mana Amemiya. A strong, physical defender in the mould of her central defensive partner Amemiya, Tsukamoto will be expected to bring more solidity to the Riena defence than the relatively lightweight Narita. She is a potent threat at set-pieces, having scored two goals during Riena's BoF campaign, and is someone whom opposing defenders should keep an eye on whenever she ventures upfield to attack a dead ball.

4 • Minami KAGURA
Right-back/right wing-back; 20; 12 caps; 1 goal; unattached

Kagura is a canny full-back who focuses on providing service from out on her flank. She is not as offensively-minded as a typical Riennese full-back, usually preferring to stay deep as part of a three-player defensive line whenever Riena are moving forward with the ball, but remains a useful option when the team are in possession due to her willingness to make lung-busting supporting runs down the right. When on the ball, she tends to eschew overplaying in the final third, preferring instead to head for the touchline and deliver crosses and cutbacks into the area. Mental fortitude is perhaps not one of her strengths, and question marks remain over Kagura's temperament and ability to stay calm under pressure after she skied the decisive penalty against Mavinet in the BoF semifinals.

27 • Emi HIMEMORI
Right-back/right wing-back; 19; 10 caps; 0 goals; unattached

An eager attacking full-back with a decent delivery, Himemori is a slightly raw player who mainly trades on her pace. She is always keen to get forward as much as she can to support her team in attack, but she tries her best not to neglect her defensive responsibilities at the back. Despite her boundless enthusiasm, Himemori is not very good at either defending or attacking. As with most of Riena's players, her age means that there is potential for significant improvement down the line, but the fact that Himemori is Kagura's understudy shines a harsh spotlight on the depth issue Riena have at right-back. If Kagura is injured, it is a toss-up whether Riena will move Tsukamoto out wide to cover, or give Himemori the game-time she needs to improve. The question is whether she will be found out against senior-level multiversal opponents.

5 • Hijiri SAKURANAMI
Defensive midfielder/central midfielder; 22; 12 caps; 0 goals; Mashu Hellownia (Hinodejin Empire)

Sakuranami is a powerful, tenacious wolfhound of a midfielder who is excellent at defending, pressing, and recycling possession. Originally a defensive anchor player, Sakuranami transitioned to a box-to-box role during Riena's BoF campaign, and has truly made the niche her own. From an attacking perspective, Sakuranami tends to arrive late in the area when Riena are on the attack, providing an additional offensive option for the team and potentially causing chaos in the opposition defence. She is not the most precise finisher in the team, but Sakuranami has a powerful shot on her, and will not hesitate to take aim from long range whenever given the chance to do so. While she has managed to improve her attacking game to fill the demands of her new role, Sakuranami remains adept at the defensive side of the game. There is nothing she enjoys more than a well-timed interception or a crunching tackle, and she is perhaps most infamous for her willingness to commit blatantly cynical challenges to break up play as necessary.

7 • Mishiro KAWAKAZE
Defensive midfielder/central midfielder; 20; 12 caps; 1 goal; unattached

A hard-running midfielder who is sometimes unfairly characterised as a water carrier or a jack-of-all-trades. Kawakaze's reputation for being a tenacious player who puts in the hard yards perhaps undersells her a little; she is a tough-tackling defensive midfielder who can do just about everything to a decent standard, including, somewhat surprisingly, putting the ball in the back of the net. While Riena does have specialists who can do specific aspects of Kawakaze's job better, the central midfielder is perhaps the best all-round player currently in the Riennese ranks. But at the same time, Kawakaze is also a victim of her own versatility, having thus far failed to nail down a starting spot ahead of her contemporaries. She may well mature to become part of Riena's first-choice midfield in time, but for now, expect to see her plugged in wherever a hole needs to be urgently filled.

8 • Tomoe ISHIBASHI
Central midfielder; 21; 9 caps; 1 goal; unattached

The playmaking metronome that keeps the team ticking over. Most of the team's build-up play goes through the languid, silky Ishibashi, who is accomplished at dictating play and controlling a game's tempo from midfield. Ishibashi's laid back style makes her a convenient target for accusations of laziness, but her undeniable ability in possession has helped her secure a starting spot in this Riena team. Capable of a wide range of passing, whether it be simple square passes, fizzed crossfield attempts, or chipped through balls, Ishibashi has a keen eye for the defence-splitting pass, an attribute which dovetails well with the speed and attacking flair of Riena's forwards. Ishibashi tends to suffer from bouts of positional indiscipline, often drifting forwards into advanced positions as a game wears on. Her advanced presence can either leave yawning gaps in the midfield for savvy opponents to exploit, or allow Riena to overwhelm less tactically aware opposition. Supplanted by Kirimiya in the starting XI after an indifferent BoF, but is likely to start or to be brought on whenever Riena needs a creative spark.

10 • Aya NAKIRI
Central midfielder/attacking midfielder/center forward; 21; 15 caps; 7 goals; unattached

Perhaps the most threatening weapon in Riena's armoury, and the player most likely to create a moment of magic out of nothing. Nakiri is nominally a central midfielder, but her play style means that she is often either dropping into the hole to link up midfield and attack, or playing off the center forward's shoulder. An unerring eye for goal, a penchant for direct and effective running, as well as an excellent range of passing, means that Nakiri poses a threat to the opposition goal whenever she is given time and space on the ball. Has a fondness for the spectacular; opportunistic efforts from outside the box are a particular favourite. Despite her attacking prowess, Nakiri can be marked out of a game by an attentive defender with the pace to keep up with her. Adept in the high energy pressing style favoured by Riena, she possesses a high work rate and good stamina, and when interchanging with her center forward, is often the first line of defence for the team.

12 • Sara KIRIMIYA
Defensive midfielder/central midfielder; 18; 12 caps; 1 goal; unattached

Kirimiya is an accomplished holding midfielder who understands that her job is to defend, and she does it exceptionally well. Although she is nominally a midfielder, she is perhaps the purest defensive player in this Riena roster. Kirimiya generally plays in a screening role in front of the defence, covering for her less-defensively inclined colleagues so that the they can focus on attacking the opposition third without worrying about leaving the team short at the back. As would be expected for a holding midfielder, Kirimiya has the positional intelligence and discipline necessary for her role, using those key attributes to break up play in midfield and quickly recycle possession to her more creative colleagues. While she is fairly decent at tackling, Kirimiya has a tendency to dive in when challenging for the ball, and has a particular preference for sliding tackles.

18 • Meru MATSUKAI
Attacking midfielder/winger; 20; 10 caps; 1 goal; unattached

Matsukai is a mercurial, effervescent creative midfielder whose favoured position is in the hole, just behind her striker, but she is equally adept at playing wide out on both wings. A purer creative presence than Nakiri, she can be an option for Riena whenever they are playing against massed defences, but given Riena's abundance of attacking talent, Matsukai is generally regarded as an impact sub who can be deployed late on against flagging opponents to provide a spark for Riena. If playing on the wing, Matsukai favours cutting infield, narrowing the team's play, which can be problematic when Riena are up against a team who defend narrowly.

27 • Rie AKAMATSU
Central midfielder/center forward; 21; 4 caps; 2 goals; unattached

Akamatsu started her footballing career as a center forward, but found herself repurposed as a central midfielder due to an abundance of forwards in the Riennese national set-up. Owing to her roots as a Riennese forward, she is strong and physical for a Riennese midfielder, and can offer a different dimension to the team's play whenever she is on the pitch, whether it is in midfield or in attack. Blessed with cultured passing ability, she fills a unique niche within the Riennese midfield, capable of acting simultaneously as a destroyer and a significant goalscoring threat. Akamatsu will often be deployed against opposition with a significant size or height advantage over Riena, and can also play as an auxiliary forward if Riena is chasing a late goal.

9 • Rion KANZAKI
Center forward; 20; 14 caps; 10 goals; Pascal Mashu (Hinodejin Empire)

A powerful, dominant center forward, Kanzaki is the perfect foil for the technically talented attackers in the team. Kanzaki's physical presence in the opposition penalty area often causes chaos in the ranks of opposition defenders, allowing her teammates to profit in the resulting confusion. She is a highly accomplished target man who is in her element when scoring, whether it be sweeping loose balls home from close range or sending goalkeepers sprawling with thirty-yard rockets. While comfortable scoring goals on her own, Kanzaki is also proficient at holding the ball up when receiving possession from deep, which creates opportunities for her teammates to make supporting runs beyond her. Her natural athleticism, strength, and goalscoring instincts make Kanzaki an effective spearhead of the Riena attack.

11 • Tsumugi SUENAGA
Left winger/right winger; 22; 13 caps; 3 goals; Miare CosmoStars (Hinodejin Empire)

Playing on the left wing, Suenaga trades on her raw pace and finishing ability. The left winger is an explosive, direct player whose single-minded running offers a different dimension to Riena's attack. Although possessing decent dribbling skills, Suenaga tends to thrive whenever there are large pockets of space into which she can make her marauding runs, making her an especially potent weapon on the counter against naturally attacking teams. As an inverted winger, Suenaga has a marked preference for cutting infield onto her stronger right foot, creating space for her full-back to exploit out on the flank. She is a capable finisher and, if invited to shoot, can pose a significant threat from close to medium range. She can play as an orthodox winger on the right in a pinch.

17 • Flare STEINER
Right winger/center forward; 20; 13 caps; 6 goals; unattached

Steiner, one of Riena's key attacking outlets, is a technically skillful winger with a dizzying turn of pace that allows her to leave flat-footed opponents for dead. She is yet to prove herself a prolific goalscorer, and can be guilty of overplaying at times. What she brings to the table, though, is a repertoire of attacking skills that help her create an abundance of goalscoring opportunities for her teammates, not least her ability to put the ball on a plate for her teammates to score. Steiner is a proficient dribbler who enjoys nothing more than tying defenders into knots, and will attempt to trick her way right into the opposition area if given the chance to do so. She is a player for the big stage, and tends to turn in her best performances against superior opposition. Can play as part of a front two alongside a physically dominant forward partner.

19 • Shizu SAMUKAWA
Center forward; 21; 7 caps; 4 goals; unattached

Riena has a predilection for strong, dominant center forwards to compensate for their lack of size and height elsewhere on the pitch, and Samukawa is no exception to that rule. More of a battering ram option than the talented Kanzaki, Samukawa nonetheless possesses the predatory instincts all good center forwards have in abundance. She is perhaps more reliant on her physical attributes than Kanzaki is, but Samukawa is no less effective at putting the ball in the back of the net. A particularly good header of the ball, and a useful target to aim for from any dead ball situations.

20 • Cocoa HANEDA
Left winger; 18; 0 caps; 0 goals; unattached

An untested winger from the Riennese youth development programme, Haneda was drafted into the senior squad as one of the programme's top prospects. Her addition to the Riennese squad for this cycle is to address a lack of depth across Riena's forward line, especially on the flanks. A tricky winger with explosive pace and a sweet left foot, Haneda is unlikely to get much sustained game-time across this cycle, but an unexpected injury to either first-choice winger could provide her with an opportunity to make her mark on the national team. Given first-choice left winger Suenaga's inconsistent form over the course of the BoF, however, Haneda may well be given a chance to push her claim for a starting spot if Suenaga's form collapses.

21 • Rinze AYANAMI
Right winger; 19; 0 caps; 0 goals; unattached

Similarly to Haneda, Ayanami received her senior call-up by virtue of being one of the most promising talents in the Riennese youth development programme, and she is not expected to do much more than improve the squad's depth in her position. In terms of style, Ayanami is a creative winger who is more of a playmaker out on the flank rather than an attacking outlet. She possesses the physical attributes to thrive as an orthodox winger, but she prefers to set up her teammates rather than go for goal herself. Ayanami's starting prospects are severely limited by Flare Steiner and her blistering form over the course the BoF, but she may be given minutes on the pitch in case of injury or as a late substitute for Steiner, in order to prime her for a challenge for Steiner's starting spot in future cycles.

KS • Kanata SHIRANAMI
Manager; 24; 7 wins, 4 draws, 4 losses; 46.67 % win rate; 42 GF 30 GA; +12 GD

NT • Nao TOMORI
Assistant manager; 23

Overview
Riena will tend to set up in a highly fluid 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 formation; the team can and will rapidly transition between different formations when necessary. Riena's players will, in general, be given freedom to roam from their assigned position as well as exchange positions with other players. The team is on the short side; therefore, they will tend to play the ball short on the ground rather than looking to go long. In attack, the team will look to move the ball vertically at speed, but will also be content to patiently probe the opposition defence if there are no immediate openings. Riena is particularly reliant on the wingers in attack, and if the opposition manages to stifle Riena's wing play, they will inevitably be muzzled as an attacking threat. In defence, Riena uses a high defensive line and will try to make use of offside traps. Zonal marking is preferred at corners and free kicks.

Stadia
The Riena national team play their football matches at the Wavelet Arena, Nagato. The pitch dimensions are short, but wide, by multiversal standards for football pitches, facilitating wider play on the flanks. The pitch itself is usually well-watered and slick, allowing the ball to travel at speed across the natural grass surface. For teams who prefer a spot of beach football, Riena's original national sport, Riena maintains the Sea Fury Arena, also in Nagato, with the exact same pitch dimensions as the Wavelet Arena, but with a sand surface instead. Riena will usually default to the Wavelet Arena, but opponents are free to specify a stadium preference if they wish to do so.

Set-piece assignments

The following set piece assignments are listed in order of priority. Positions are indicated relative to the opposition goal. Central free kicks can be taken by players assigned to either left or right sided free kicks. Indirect free kicks given within the opposition area are counted as direct free kicks for the purposes of this section.

Brief National Team History
The Kadongo Kamu have played in exactly 343 games, as of the start of World Cup 85. We have participated in 10 World Cup Qualifying campaigns, having previously participated in(WCQ73, WCQ74, WCQ75, WCQ76, WCQ77, WCQ79, WCQ80, WCQ82, WCQ84, WCQ85) and will now play in our sixth consecutive World Cup(WC80-WC85). We have also participated in Baptism of Fire 60, and been a participant in three different Cup of Harmonies(CoH 66, CoH 67, and CoH 71). In three Cup of Harmonies, Banija has never once moved past the group stage in the competition, and in their lone Baptism of Fire, they earned a lone point. In World Cup 80, Banija was eliminated in the group stages, though in World Cup 81, Banija won Group A and went to the Round of 16 before falling in extra time, on home soil, to Turori by a score of 1-1(2-1 AET). in World Cup 82, Banija won its opening game 3-1 before losing its next two games, its last one in heartbreaking fashion to Pasarga to be eliminated in the group stages. In World Cup 83, Banija stunned the world by beating then two-time defending world champions Vilita in the quarterfinals en route to a bronze medal. In World Cup 84, they were eliminated in the quarterfinals.

After not competing at all during the World Cup 78 Cycle due to the RBSA's bankruptcy, they re-entered the world of international football in World Cup 79 cycle. A shocking World Cup 79 Qualification campaign saw them on the brink of qualifying, but the team simply ran out of gas and lost 4 of their final 5 matches to not make it to Ceni/Drawkland. Since then, the U21 team got 3rd place at the 42nd Di Bradini Cup, and the national team advanced to the quarterfinals of AOCAF LV, AOCAF LVI, and AOCAF LVII, establishing themselves as a strong regional side, falling to the eventual champs in the latter two tournaments. They stunningly qualified for World Cup 80, after starting poorly by losing 5 of their first 9, to going unbeaten in the second half of qualifying, where they won 7 of those games. In the World Cup 80 Qualification playoffs, a 3-0 first leg victory in Montreal, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, powered the team through to their first ever appearance in the World Cup Finals, advancing to sport's pre-eminent competition 5-3 on aggregate over Mercedini. While a pair of one goal losses saw them eliminated after two games, they earned their first ever victory at the World Cup Finals in a 2-0 win over New Gazi in their final group stage game. As they hosted World Cup 81, they went directly to the tournament, and went to their first ever knockout stages, winning Group A before falling, 1-1(2-1 AET) to Turori in the Round of 16. They cruised to qualification in World Cup 82, maintaining a top two spot in their World Cup Qualification group behind Brenecia for the entirety of the World Cup 82 Qualification campaign, getting to the tournament with relative ease before bowing out in the group stages.

The World Cup 83 cycle was their strongest yet. Starting with AOCAF LVIII on home soil, co-hosted with the Commonwealth of Baker Park, the Kadongo Kamu won 6 consecutive matches to open the tournament, taking their winning streak all the way to the final. Unfortunately, they were felled, 4-2, at home to their archrivals, the Equestrian States. Co-hosting World Cup 83 as well, the Banijans made a miraclous run at the World Cup, upending 5th ranked South Covelllo on penalties, and defeating the then two-time defending world champions Vilita in the quarterfinals, before falling, 3-2, at the national stadium to Starblaydia. They added to the trophy case, however, earning a bronze medal after defeating Cassadaigua in the 3rd place playoff game.

The World Cup 84 cycle, the first with real title expectations for the Banijans, was a disappointment in the regionals, as we fell 1-0 to Ko-oren in the AOCAF Round of 16, although we advanced to the quarterfinals of World Cup 84 before dropping to Eura in extra time. The World Cup 85 cycle seems to be a promise of hope for the Banijans. Although AOCAF LX was a rough tournament for the Banijans, it was surrounded by two excellent tournament performances for the Banijans. We won the U21 World Cup(DBC 47), and are just coming off earning our first ever senior-level trophy, by winning the 8th Eagle's Cup to be admitted as a full, permanent member of the Eagle's Club right before the beginning of World Cup Qualifying. Following that, the Banijans dominated World Cup 85 Qualifying, going wire-to-wire as the first place team in their World Cup Qualifying group, as well as earning more points in World Cup Qualifying(67) than any other team did throughout the entire campaign. Those strong performances both in the Eagle's Cup and World Cup Qualifying have caused fans to put an up and down AOCAF behind them, and heighten the standard for World Cup 85.

List of National Team managers
1. Kizza Kabila(Banija). Manager for Baptism of Fire 60 and the World Cup 73 Qualification Campaign. Overall record of 0-14-1(W-L-D).

Kizza Kabila is the only Banijan to have ever managed the national team. Hired for Banija's first foray onto the international scene in this sport, his reign was universally derided as a disaster. Managing 15 games, he drew his first game in the Baptism of Fire, and not only lost the next two, he then lost ever single match in the 12 game World Cup Qualification campaign for World Cup 73, with the side only scoring 5 goals across the entire campaign. Unceremoniously fired after becoming one of few managers to go through an entire World Cup Qualification campaign without earning a single point, he, alongside the entire board of the RBSA, resigned after the last game. He was disgraced in the sport after the campaign, and, to this point, has never returned to top-level soccer.

2.Jan Cassallerus(San Llera): Hired before the start of the World Cup 74 Qualification Campaign, managed through the World Cup 77 Qualification Campaign. Overall Record of 27-32-16(W-L-D).

Banija put its eyes abroad, searching for a foreign manager before the World Cup 74 Qualification campaign, and found Jan Cassallerus. He is Banija's longest ever serving manager, being at the helm for four entire World Cup cycles, and being at the helm for 75 total games, a kind of longevity unheard of in the modern game, especially managing the national team. He started winning a game at the Coupe D'Esquarium, in what was known as the group of death. He was largely celebrated for bringing the team into relevancy. The expectations were through the floor, following Kizza Kabila, but he brought the team to Cup of Harmony 66 and Cup of Harmony 67, as well as advancing in Olympic Qualifying and getting third place at the United Valhaven Regional Football Championships. He was forced into retirement after the World Cup 77 Qualification campaign, when the RBSA declared bankruptcy, and could not participate in the World Cup 78 Qualification Campaign due to their inability to compensate players and staff.

3. Randolf Cherry(Drawkland): Hired before the start of the World Cup 79 Qualification Campaign. Overall Record of 20-24-2(W-L-D)

Randolf Cherry, after the RBSA got its act together, was hired- controversially- as the manager of the national team. Not that his own hire was controversial, it was applauded across the sports spectrum here at home. He was given a 3 cycle contract, and everyone knew what the goal was- to make the World Cup Finals at least once over the course of the contract. They understood that it would take time to climb the rankings, and they were willing to give him the leash. However, he came in a very awkward situation. Adama Sowe, the Chairman of the RBSA, allegedly first offered the job to Sarah Owens, out of the Equestrian States. Of course, it is illegal in Banija for women to coach men's professional teams, and that caused controversy. And yet, here he was- the manager of the national team.

His own home country of Drawkland is, of course, very progressive in that area, where the sport is dominated by the ladies. Regardless, he had an excellent start to his reign as a manger, and was initially extremely popular. He won his first game, in a special Eagles Club match, against Aggrey-Fynn Land. He lost his first few qualifiers, but he went on a dear through the middle of qualifying, which included a 7 game winning streak on home soil. Big wins against then 4th ranked Chromatika at home and then 32nd ranked Eshan, put them in the conversation of World Cup Qualification, though they were simply not strong enough.

The Cup of Harmony was considered a disaster, finishing in dead last in their group. The competition maybe simply isn't for the Banijans, eh? But they were strong throughout the offseason, making a surprising quarterfinal run in AOCAF LV and bringing high hopes to the squad going into World Cup 80 Qualification. Hopes were through the roof for the national team, maybe even bordering unrealistic. They struggled, and the campaign got worse as the pressure built, as the squad lost their final four qualifiers of the first half of qualifying. With the campaign seemingly in free-fall, he was fired, as the RBSA said they wanted time to conduct "an open, thorough, search."

4. Marcus Waters(Equestrian States): Hired after the 1st half of World Cup 80 Qualifying, present manager of the national team. Overall record of 133-48-26(W-L-D). All-time winning percentage of 64.25%. All-time points percentage of 68.44%.

Marcus Waters was the national team's assistant manager with Randolf Cherry above him, and the manager of the youth national teams. He first gained notoreity in Banija after successfully leading the U21 team to a 3rd place finish at the 42nd Di Bradini Cup. With his abilities clear, it made sense to move onto him as the interim manager as they searched for a permanent manager ahead of the second half of World Cup Qualifying. However, he was able to complete a stunning turnaround of this team. His first game in charge, he changed nearly the entire backline, and had a massive upset, away to Qasden, by a score of 3-2. A 3-0 victory over Razenthuria in the other mid-qualifying friendly got high hopes for him.

Marcus Waters went out with an intent to keep his team focused, despite everything going on at home. He has proven adept at navigating the political minefield that is this job, especially with his own country of origin essentially at war with Banija. He didn't lose a single game in the second half of qualifying, winning 7 games to get to the playoffs, including when the team was forced to play home games in Montreal due to ongoing violence within Banija. He was widely applauded for getting the team ready to play in Montreal, and winning 1-0 against Turori, the group's top seeded squad, and a 3-0 win in Montreal in the Qualification playoffs. While the RBSA interviewed four other candidates, his successful push through the World Cup Qualification playoffs and into Banija's first-ever World Cup Finals essentially clinched the job for him, as he put pen to paper to take the interim tag off of his title ahead of the 80th World Cup Finals.

Since then, of course, he has done a lot to garner the confidence of the higher-ups, and of the fans. Falling to the eventual champions in the quarterfinals of both AOCAF LVI and AOCAF LVII was widely seen as a positive. As well as, of course, a surprising Fourth Place finish in the Cup of Champions Six, highlighted by a surprising point earned in their matchup against Nephara, while also pushing through to the Round of 16 of World Cup 81, pleasing the home fans. A different sort of pressure faces him this campaign, however.

For the first time in his reign, you could say that Banija had a disappointing tournament, failing to advance in World Cup 82 beyond the group stages. It might be harsh to say that- on paper, advancing from a group with both Pasarga and Farfadillis is a tall order if your team is not Pasarga or Farfadillis. They responded well, however, winning six consecutive games at AOCAF LVIII, and knocking off major nations including Cosumar and Mriin at the tournament, before being felled in the final, in their own capitol of Busukuma, to Equestria. Following up with a World Cup on home soil, they continued that momentum forward from AOCAF LVIII, as the Banijans took on the role of giantslayers on home soil. They beat the 5th ranked South Covello side, and the then two-time defending world champions Vilita, before eventually falling to Starblaydia in the semifinals, though they still earned a bronze medal. Although momentum was blunted after a tough 1-0 defeat to Ko-oren that secured an early exit from AOCAF LIX, they followed that up with their second straight appearance in the World Cup Quarterfinals, where they fell to Eura in extra time.

They're excited, however, for the World Cup 85 Cycle. Even though they had a disappointing Round of 16 elimination in the AOCAFs to Siovanija & Teusland, there are still high hopes that they'll be able to 'achieve something' during World Cup 85.

1. The Equestrian States. All time Banijan record against opponent- 0-6-1(W-L-T).

The Equestrian States are easily Banija's biggest rival, and by a country mile. It has all the makings of a good international sporting rivalry- plenty of matches played, history of competitive matches, geopolitical rivalry, player familiarity, and, of course, geographical proximity- all those boxes are checked. They've played each other 5 times, and Banija has come out on the losing end each and every time, most recently a 4-0 clobbering at the hands of the Equestrian States during Banija's final friendly before this qualification tournament began.

Three times have they played in competitive competition, and three times Banija has fallen. The Equestrian States eliminated Banija from Cup of Harmony 71 in group play, while also defeating the Banijans in both the opening match of World Cup 80, and the final group stage match of AOCAF LVI, though the Banijans still advanced to the quarterfinals of that tournament. The familiarity of players between each other is strong. Banija's present and most successfull all-time manager, Marcus Waters, is Equestrian. A number of players in each country play in leagues in the other. Famous Equestrian NT players like Aaron Aiza, Rosie Tyler, and Josef Lawrenz, ply their trade in the Banijan Soccer League, with Aiza particularly growing to superstar status while winning league titles at Herzegovina City FC.

Banija's first ever major final in this sport, at the senior level, was against none other than Equestria at the national stadium, with the winner to be crowned champions of AOCAF LVIII Final. In front of a decidedly pro-Banijan crowd, it was the Equestrians who dashed Banijan dreams of glory on their home turf as they picked up their first ever major international silverware, with a 4-2 victory. That victory has made the Banijans just that much hungrier to defeat their bitter rivals, and though the history is lopsided in favor of Equestria, that has just fueled the fire on this side of the matchup. The two sides co-hosted World Cup 83 together, and almost had a rematch of their AOCAF LVIII Final in the World Cup Final, though Banija could not fulfill its end of the bargain as they fell to a stronger Starblaydia side in the semifinals. Equestria, of course went on to win the World Cup, and the next AOCAF to boot, establish a fully fledged dynasty. The Banijans, in pre WOrld Cup 84 Qualification friendlies, got their first ever result against the Equestrians, a 0-0 draw in Everfree.

2. Eshan. Banijan all time record against opponent: 3-2-1(W-L-T)

Banija's other major rival is Eshan. Another regional rivalry, it doesn't carry quite the same weight as the Equestrian States, but they've played four high stakes competitive matches against each other, all in the same cycle. In World Cup 79 Qualifying, the two nations were in the same qualification group. Banija had an upset win in the first half of qualifying that vaulted them into serious discussions about making the final tournament, only to fall on the return trip, which effectively eliminated them from attending World Cup 79. And in the ensuing AOCAF LV tournament, they were drawn into the same group, and Eshan easily embarassed the Banijans, winning 5-1.

The draw did not seem to favor the Banijans, as the pair were drawn together in the Round of 16. This time, it was the Banijans who got the last laugh. After a thrilling 4-4 draw, the Banijans won on penalties and advanced to the quarterfinals of their first AOCAF, an overwhelming success. While they have not played each other since AOCAF LV, on a competitive or on a friendly basis, the rivalry is still an important one for many fans of the Kadongo Kamu.

The rivalry was renewed when the two teams were drawn against each other in World Cup 82 Qualifying, with the pair of nations favorites to compete for the group's 2nd qualifying spot, with Brenecia widely favored to win their World Cup Qualification group. Banija won the first match in Busukuma, while they drew on the return leg, as Banija clinched the World Cup Qualification spot as Eshan did not qualify for the World Cup Finals.

1. CAM Namakula Kawesa

Namakula Kawesa is one of the most interesting players to follow on this team. She is the first woman to ever put on the green and white for the senior national side, the first beneficiary of the repeal of the gender segregation law within the country. Implementation has been slow, as there are only a handful of female players in the BSL right now, but the rise in change of culture is always slow. Still, she has smashed that glass ceiling on her own, and Kawesa is looking to ensure that she is well respected on the national and international stage.

With her platform comes great expectation, and with great expectation comes great pressure. So far, she has been able to handle it. She scored crucial goals at AOCAF LVIII en route for the Banijan run to the final of that tournament, as she came off the bench behind Okparro. She did the same at World Cup 83, playing crucial minutes there as well. She was able to earn herself attention in the transfer market, and now she plays for the Gwinevra Barbarians. She has shown her talent for the Barbarians, scoring seven goals in the league and 11 in all competitions in her first season for the Barbarians, where she was a regular fixture in their starting XI, and helped the team get 2nd in the league and earn a Champions Cup berth, as well as scoring in the Marshall Cup Final, which is Apox's major domestic cup competition. She has performed at expectation in Apox.

And now, of course, with Okparro's retirement, she has been handed the #10 jersey for the national team. This is a big moment for her, as she is now a full-time starter for the Kadongo Kamu. There are younger players who are chomping at the bit to wear the #10 jersey- youngsters like Momodou Sene and Abigail Admassu, fresh off of U21 World Cup glory, are making move to big money leagues to try and get her spot. The pressure is also building on her. She had a strong Eagle's Cup VIII, and while she has a stranglehold on the #10 jersey, the RBSA has recently declared the upcoming Olympiad a 'priority tournament', and she's widely expected to captain the women's national side there. Can she push out all the rumors about the Olympics, and focus her energy on the task at hand?

2. CB Kawsu Kaba

The center back has been excellent in his appearances for the Hoima Warriors in the BSL, with his past domestic season earning him plaudits from many around, and him just missing out on a spot on the All-Pro Team. The problem with Kaba, while extremely talented, is that, especially for hte national team, he lacks consistency. HE has been benched on numerous occasions by Marcus Waters, though he always goes back to Kaba to start a game, and play a majority of the match. Then 35 year old Center Back Abate Brehanu, however, repeatedly replaced Kaba defending big leads in big moments, illustrating the lack of the confidence in him.

But now, Brehanu has retired following the national team's bronze medals at World Cup 83, and there will be nowhere to hide for Kawsu Kaba. Ensa Camara and Brehanu have retired, and now, it will be Kaba under fire. The pressure builds as younger center backs are primed to replace him, but he holds onto his spot for now next to the much-acclaimed Galactico, Kuma Bultum. Can he maintain his starting spot? Or will he lose it to somebody else?

3. LW Gitonga Kahara

With the retirements of Chibuzo Afolayan and Assefa Yitebarke from the national team, the boy wonder is the undisputed star of the Kadongo Kamu, and has long been hailed as the savior of the sport in this country. That tells you everything you need to know about the Boy Wonder's meteoric rise through Banijan soccer. He has been given lots of nicknames- the Boy Wonder, Banija's Football Savior, the Deliverer, etc... And he has never played a professional club game on Banijan soil. When he was just 16 years old, he moved to Project Olimpo in Kita-Hinode, and starred in their youth league, one of the world's best. Project Olimpo won a league title, and Gitonga Kahara was the star of the team, winning the Golden Boot that season. He then, of course, went to the U21 World Cup as the player everybody had their eyes on- was he the real deal?

The answer was an emphatic yes. Gitonga Kahara, and the team in general, simply could not stop scoring in Valanora. He scored a stunning 10 goals at the Di Bradini Cup- taking the tournament by storm, and being not only the best player on the pitch for the Banijans, but arguably the best player on the pitch at the tournament in general. His value, and name, exploded on the international scene. Randolf Cherry, much to the chagrin of Project Olimpo officials, was pushing him to leave before the window- see what he'd do in a top-flight league, while his value was high with the memory of the Di Bradini Cup fresh. Of course, during the window, he'd be able to probably get a better deal. But the fact of the matter was this- a move was better for his immediate career prospects, even if it was a serious question mark for his long-term career prospects.

He went to Polaris, in the Terranean League East. He helped lead his team earn the Pablito Numede Trophy, and, with a third place finish, finish with a berth in the Champions Cup. He looked likely to be a star in that league for a long, long time to come- and then, it came crashing down, as the Terrenean League East has faltered. He then made a big money move to OAS Royal FC, becoming the first ever Banijan to make an 8 digit move, being valued at $10 million NSDs by the side from Northeast Atlantian Oceania.

He is in his prime, and now, this is his team. Kahara is going to wear the armband going forward, for the first time at any level in his career. While the 23 went unchanged from the beginning of AOCAF LVIII, through the Champions Cup and all the way through World Cup 83, there has been a correction, with quite a few veterans calling it quits on their international careers, leaving time for the next generation to shine. While he's had his poor moments, including a red card in World Cup 84, he is capable of leading this team to new heights. Will he be able to do so?

4. GK Jumu Sanneh

The 35 year old goalkeeper has had a very interesting journey, at least in terms of his international career. He has been playing in VIlita for years, playing in the country's DeClasse Division. After Delbin Kasekende left the Banijan national team to start for the Islander national team following World Cup 80, there was a competition between the two then young guns- Lemuel Bereket and Jumu Sanneh. After the World Cup 81 cycle, Bereket asserted himself, and gripped tightly onto the #1 jersey for World Cup cycles 82-84. But Sanneh waited patiently. And with Bereket, now 35 years old, deciding to retire from international duty and extend his club career in Farfadillis, Sanneh has finally gotten a chance to wear the #1 jeersey.

He has starred in the DeClasse Division in Vilita- earning the second highest goalkeeper rating, and winning five man of the match awards throughout last season. And he was largely starter throughout AOCAF LX and Eagle's Cup VIII, where he struggled. Marcus Waters took the #1 jersey from the veteran and has declared an open competition for the #1 jersey. Can the veteran regain the manager's confidence? Or will one of the younger goalkeepers on the team swoop in and take the job, effectively ending his dream of ever actual playing in a World Cup?

Team Personality
The Darmeni team will never argue with the referee. Indeed, if anything needs to be brought to the attention of the referee it will be done by either the Captain or Vice-Captain in a respectful manner (or to the fourth-official by the Manager). With regards to foul/dirty play, the Darmeni team will not provoke, or retaliate against any opposition player. Darmeni's expect each team to keep to itself and deal with its own trouble makers; any opposition player who attempts to prevent a conflict by pushing or pulling a Darmeni away from the scene will be promptly told off, as that is the duty of the Darmeni Captain.

Nonetheless, Darmen will play in a relatively aggressive manner. Tackles will be conducted in a way which ensures the opponent ends up on the ground, but causing injury will be avoided as much as possible. On set pieces, Darmenis will stand their ground and will not be easily pushed around, they will not however engage in hugging. In fact, if any opposing player tries to push past them, it is not uncommon for the Darmeni player to feign resistance before simply stepping aside and watching as the opposing player stumbles past on their way to ground. This occasionally backfires however, as the referee may mistake the incidence as having been a foul in the box.

SHARKTAIL NT NOTABLE PLAYER

For wcq 85 edition,3 player have been notted to become the main part for the succes of this team.

1-Gaby-(striker)
-The main striker for the team.Starting playing for Sharktail Nt since 24 years old,he have prove his credibility inside the box.Sharktail machine goal, make a progtess in the friendly match,MAC 4 and nation cup scoring 6 goal in 10 game.He surely will become the main part of Sahami attacking plan.Once again,Gaby gained trust from all the player and staff to lead this team.

2-Maxter

Choosen as the second choice in MAC 4,Maxter patiently waiting his time to shine. After poor performance from Ahmad,Maxter given the job to played in all six match in Nation league. He took that chance to get the No 1 spot.Remarkable performance with good pace and air ball handling make Sahami to give hime the No 1 spot for wcq 85.Now it the time for hime to show and prove to all what he is.The new star may have been born.

3-Hidawi

The young start who now in the eye of the world.Started his career with Kota Lama,he firstly took the starting cb place from Maxi in Kota lama.He make a good progress helping this team winning national cup last season.Getting the call up from Sahami,he never turn back anymore. He once again took away the Center back position from Maxi, even make maxi being dropped from the wcq roster,he have gain big trust from sahami and also from the fans. With his young age, this may be a good chance for him to help him keep improving and in future he can become one of the best not just in domestic but also in international.

Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom Federativna Republika Zeta Reka i Hügeltaldom
World Cup 85 Web Report General Info

National Overview

The Federal Republic of Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom (Federativna Republika Zeta Reka i Hügeltaldom, or Bundesrepublik Zeta Reka und Hügeltaldom), known informally as Zeta Reka, is a federation located in the region of Esportiva. The history of the federation's two primary components stretches back over hundreds of years. The country itself came into existence seventy nine years ago with the creation of the dual-monarchy. The monarchy was overthrown by the August Socialist Organization, who controlled the nation exclusively for decades. Sixty two years after the nation's formation, the federation's semi-presidential constitution came into effect. The population was 12,394,200 as of the last census, and is estimated to be slightly higher. Zeta Reka's people currently grapple with the aftermaths of regional disorder, the slow opening of it's borders, and the aftermath of privatization. Social progress is limited but has taken place. For some, financial stability has been found in the new order. Violence initiated by separatists against federal authorities has declined since the democratization of society.

The nature of organized sport has changed with the fall of the ASO. Private ownership of sports clubs has increased profits and wages, but mostly revenue. Integration into international football was backed by former president Iwan Maurer in his 100 Project, which aims to open up Zeta Reka by the nation's centennial. The government program is controversial for betraying Zeta Reka's traditions and for increasing the influence of outside forces. For some, the national team's second place finish in the Baptism of Fire is a unifying event. The current government hopes for qualification to the World Cup to further reduce tensions.

Team Info
The National Football team of Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom represents the esportivan nation and is organized by the Football Federation of Zeta Reka & Hügeltaldom. They are participating in the eighty fifth world cup cycle. They finished second in the Baptism of Fire event, and accrued one of the larger point totals from the event. In their brief history, over forty five players have been capped in twenty two games, twenty one of which were full internationals.

Roster (starters italicized)
01: Bosko Nowak
Age: 37
Height: 194.75cm/6'4.625"
Caps: 11
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: DD Porto Nowi
The late bloomer of the Zeta Reka prison system is returning to the number one slot on the team. Nearing his end, this could be Nowak's only chance to suit up at a world cup, and he is ready for the challenge. Nowak is a sweeper who could play out if the team plays with a high block. With the opposition close he tends to get to business and save shot after shot.

12: Zlatko Wukowić
Age: 22
Height: 185.25cm/6'1"
Caps: 1
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: Lonngeylin City (Vilita)
Wukowić was the third choice goalie in Zeta Reka's last two competitions. He played for one half and made two saves. He's signed to a club in a top ranking nation. The extra boost to Wukowić's resume makes him a bit of a wonder player to management.

23: Andrejow Werisokić
Age: 25
Height: 209.75cm/6'10.5"

Werisokić has the second highest save percentage in Zeta Reka in the 75th season of the domestic league. He likley won't play, he will be a good third choice who will not have to adjust to the team's style of play.

02: Stanko Yakowić
Age: 28
Height: 192.75cm/6'3.875"
Caps: 12
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: Aleiusia Capital
Stanko is a solid defender who has had the most international cards of any player on the team. The rough play has cause the twin brother to be suspended before. Hot headed on the microphone, and aggressive under the lights, Stanko will use great bursts of energy to humble opposition attackers.

03: Wladmir Bogdanić
Age: 27
Height: 185.66/6'1.125"
Caps: 9
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: VZRH Matov-Uri
Bogdanić played behind Yakowić as a sub in Zeta Reka's last major tournament. He performed well but didn't produce many highlights. His position last time was held by right back Bartolomej Wladmirowić. Wladmirowić was a more attacking player, and Bogdanić's promotion hints at the Rekans running a more laid back central defense.

13: Jan Thimig
Age: 22
Height: 203cm/6'7.875"
Caps: 5
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: Ogroven Vanguardi FK
An imposing player, Jan Thimig is an anti-aerial specialist in Zeta Reka. He applies his trade to one the country's top defenses. Thimig has made five appearances for the national team. The majority of his games came thanks to a spot on the twenty-sixth Campionato Esportiva team.

14: Wuk Koziwier
Age: 22
Height: 177.5cm/5'9.875"
Caps: 0
Club: FKP Ottowić County
Koziwier replaces Wlad Wlad, who did wonders in the baptism of fire. Wlad Wlad was blamed for the team's finals loss. The sudden change is a great opportunity for Koziwier to work up the ladder. Koziwier is a player with dual sided abilities, and his on ball skills allow him to play in a holding midfield role.

Left
04: Janko Yakowić
Age: 28
Height: 193cm/6'4"
Caps: 12
Goals/Assists: 1/2
Club: Aleiusia Capital
Yakowić's ability to play at the line and long passes make him the country's premier right back. A converted striker, don't count him out in set peice attacks. He was the go-to build up man in the national team's most dramatic games.

15: Wladmir Zuzkoff
Age: 27
Height: 174cm/5'8.5"
Caps: 7
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: VZRH Matov-Uri
Zuzkoff was a mover and shaker for the team in his six appearances. What he lacks in stature Zuzkoff makes up for in brute strength. He has a tendency to experiment off the ball, and could be out of alignment at times with the rest of the defensive chain. He is also the most likely player to protest a call. The attitude has come from being awarded a red card in the Baptism of Fire semi-final.

Right
05: Bartolomej Wladmirowić
Age: 28
Height: 171.33cm/5'7.5"
Caps: 17
Goals/Assists: 1/0
Club: Pikveld Rangers (North Quadana)
Struggles at right back in the Baptism of Fire will shift their center-right defender to the right flank. Wladmirowić played for DD Porto Nowi in that position and was picked up by Pikveld Rangers for a six digit fee. The most capped player in national team history, Wladmirowić uses his center of mass to bob and weave around the lines, and has a good stride for a man with short legs.

16: Steffanow Kostessen
Age: 24
Height: 181cm/5'11.75"
Caps: 1
Goals/Assists: 0/1
Club: Aleiusia Capital
Kostessen has not played outside of a minor match for the national team. He hopes to debut in this competition in a big way. Kostessen plays for a club that is a bit more direct than the national team. Making big moves and being an X-factor is what this young man has lived for. Free wheeling players could look silly when this guy counters.

06: Mullow Dorboslawić
Age: 28
Height: 174.66cm/5'8.75"
Caps: 14
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: DD Porto Nowi
Mullow Dorboslawić is one of the highest paid players in Zeta Reka, and his stock has only gone up over this international campaign. He played a few less games than expected from last minute roster change. The night life loving Dorboslawić is the expected starter for most of the campaign. As mentioned Dorboslawić is a man about town, and can been seen with cheep suits and expensive shirts in many drinking establishments. The fun stops when he plays, as he takes away chances from the opposing team, and feeds the ball deep.

17: Stani Gröss
Age: 23
Height: 174cm/5'8.5"
Caps: 8
Goals/Assists: 0/2
Club: FK Banfigrade
An active player for the national team, Gröss plays at the same position for the club as he does for the country. As a defensive midfielder, Gröss is a committed man marker. He has made a plays work from speed, and is still getting better with his tactics. When the team runs a 4-2-3-1, expect him to start.

10: Rybki (Prodanowić) (c)
Age: 35
Height: 176.25cm/5'9.625"
Caps: 15
Goals/Assists: 4/3
Club: DD Porto Nowi
The most famous player in the country, Rybki is an aging but powerful force in Zeta Reka. He has scored a few international goals from free kicks, and he "has been practicing harder at it than ever" according to those in his circle. Rybki Prodanowić small attendance dips have made him a controversial captain, but his comeback rallies for club and country have kept most critics at bay.

11: Želmir Kolarowić
Age: 27
Height: 190cm/6'2.75"
Caps: 11
Goals/Assists: 3/5
Club: Kven FK
Kolarowić is former team mate of Dorboslawić and Rybki for DD Porto Nowi. The trio's lack of silverware caused Kolarowić to be sold to Kven FK, who Kolarowić captained in a championship winning season. The trio know each other well, but have to keep winning to keep outside pressure off the team's back. When Kolarowić doesn't have the ball he can confuse, while his on ball play is direct and works thanks to great conditioning.

21: David Dix
Age: 28
Height: 179cm/5'10.5"
Caps: 12
Goals/Assists: 0/3
Club: Aleiusia Capital
David Dix is a great player for moving the ball forward, but has been criticized for a slowing pace. The physical but graceful player is looking to disprove his critics with strong games on the bench and great starts when they come. He has made a fair number of tight assists for the team. He has slowly become a more technical player, but still can burst forward past defenders.

22: Zoran Koawć
Age: 28
Height: 175.25cm/5'9"
Caps: 3
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: FKP Ottowić County
Koawć was good on his legs playing for the team at the regional level. The young man gave the team some unique passing chances. At a club level, he is used to running off at high speeds to the box. He could play close to the striker, though generally he's not a target man.

Left
07: Jad
Age: 25
Height: 184cm/6'0.5"
Caps: 13
Goals/Assists: 1/2
Club: Aleiusia Capital
A corner expert, Jad is a fast dual footed attacker. His "clutch" abilities have been called into question before. Some of the ill will that faced this player was undone when he played hard in the Baptism of Fire. Jad is "100%" committed to qualifying to the world cup, despite rumors to the contrary.

18: Vladi Di
Age: 26
Height: 191.33/6'3.375"
Caps: 4
Goals/Assists: 3/0
Club: DD Porto Nowi
Out of the roster for the Baptism of Fire, Season 74's hottest hire is back on the national team. At a club level Di tends to play to his right side, but he will be a bit out of position to attack when he is playing far back. Criticism has been laid at Dusan's feet for putting a slower striker on the wings. Dusan has held his tongue on the subject, and Di will be playing on.

Right
08: Miloš Simeoniwić
Age: 23
Height: 178cm/5'10.125"
Caps: 14
Goals/Assists: 1/1
Club: Kven FK
Miloš didn't know if he's play football or another sport as a child, but in his late teens became the best wing prospect for Zeta Reka in a generation. Offers came from club after club, and he went with a club located in a tiny tourist town. Simeoniwić's fast play and good crosses helped bring Kven their first championship. The winger can also play on the other side of the pitch, a trait he shares with starting left-winger Jad.

19: Stojan Heiden
Age: 23
Height: 162.75cm/5'4.125"
Caps: 5
Goals/Assists: 0/0
Club: AK Stanimir
Heiden is the smallest player on the team by both height and weight. His quick pace and great passing makes him a serious player. Being a skilled on ball player forced knowledgeable opponents to play around him. If the other team isn't fast, they risk getting a red card thanks Heiden's acting chops and sympathy grabbing stature.

09: Stajkwon Hokwok
Age: 30
Height: 201cm/6'7.125"
Caps: 13
Goals/Assists: 7/1
Club: ISC Catalan City (Xanneria)
A tall man with a lot physical goals. Hokwok overpowers opponents, even at the age of thirty. While he'll be playing alone for much of the game, Hokwok is used to that position. He was sold by his Rekan club for a cool million, and looks to make himself look more valuable through the World Cup. If he wants to qualify, this striker will need to better hassle opposing teams in their build up phases.

20: Bogdan Rawić
Age: 20
Height: 166cm/5'5.375"
Caps: 8
Goals/Assists: 4/0
Club: Aleiusia Capital
Rawić was the class of the Federal League in his rookie season. A top goal scorer at both a junior and senior level, he looks to punch above his weight against high ranking defenses. His extreme speed has kept every opponent guessing as he causes chaos at the lines. He has some assists to his name, but these are mostly from short passes and stolen goals.

HC: Marko Dusan
Age: 64
Record: 8-2-2 (17 goals, +10 differential)
Coach Dusan guided the team to over eight straight clean sheets, with a majority of those games being either victories or shootout wins. A former sports executive, Dusan returned to coaching to guide his purpose built team to prominence. "The goal these events is to increase or prestige" Dusan told the press after coming home from the Baptism of Fire, "It's about individual players, our stars getting a legacy and our young lions getting to play for the best clubs." Dusan was affiliated with some the nation's largest clubs, and was cup finalist multiple times.

An eclectic mix of players in many positions make up a reserve bench for the Rekan team. Under some circumstances these youngsters and veterans could march into the fray. Good performances could help move them up the ladder early. For some this cycle could be their only chance to represent the country in a major event. For younger players this is an opportunity to build a resume, but could too much come too soon?

Introduced at the start of the camapign
GK: Iwan Trajanić - Age 21 - 183.66cm/6'0.375" - 0 caps* - Ovrâd Fruchtbarkeit (on loan from Aleiusia Capital)

*numbers good as of before the first game in the cycle.

Tactics

The team has generated a buzz for it's defense. The 4-5-1's midfield is staggered naturally, but can collapse into a wide defensive line. Placing that line inside a low block has allowed the team to survive attack minded opponents. Against teams less likely to score, the block rises closer to the midfield line in order to facilitate greater counter attacks. Regardless of where the block lies, it tends to be somewhat passive. Solidity is the aim, and the prevention of through balls has been an asset. The back four play together, while the midfield five play tightly. One exception exists. The defensive midfielder may be assigned to mark important players. The striker is assigned to play slightly away from the rest of the block. He is expected to take away a passing option, and perhaps be ready for the counter attack. The defenders have been carded a few times for rough play. The aggressive defense has worked from time to time against graceful lineups. Sometimes the team plays with a 4-2-3-1 formation that plays with two defensive midfielders and a lot of caution.

The national team on the attack is cautious. Counting all matches, the team averages 1.27 goals a game. They give up 0.72 goals each game, indicating the attack does slightly out muscle opponents. The Rekan team can counter from the block if the ball is collected in a chaotic situation. Most goals in open play come from the strikers, and then the central midfielders. A few good goals have come off the counter attack. The wingers are most useful pulling defense lines. The team likes to build up slowly when employing a low block, the team will build up at the back and center. The idea is to give the wings enough time to advance deep. Janko Yakowić, Bartolomej Wladmirowić and the goalkeepers have built up from the back well. Set pieces like corners are statistically strong at a club level for some of the team players. This makes corners a real weapon for the side. Free kicks from the captain are always dangerous as well. Analysts have noted the team loves scoring in the second half of the game.

Outfits

Commissioned by the Federal Football Organization, and made by Čast, the federation's largest sportswear manufacturer. The home attire takes it's design from the national flag, incorporating the color scheme of the flag and the Star of Stanimir. An brand new alternate attire was made to balance the set.

The Wreckerian National Football Team
Image

Full nation name: The Reformed Republic of Wreckeria
Trigramme: WRE
Nicknames: The Bulldogs
Team Colors: Orange and Black

Info:
Last year, Wreckeria came out of nowhere - literally out of the woodwork - to bring forth its first World Cup attempt in 54 years, to the surprise of many. Considering the team consisted largely of players picked up off the streets, the team did very well for themselves, representing the Reformed Republic magnificently, finishing 6th in their group, with seven wins, four ties and nine defeats. The WNFT acknowledges that this year's attempt will be, potentially, more difficult than last year's, due to the very strong field attempting to qualify, but they'll try their best. There has been very little change from last year's squad to this year's.

MANAGER/HEAD COACH: Marvin Byrnes
Byrnes, 36, like Simmons, has attempted to present football as a way to unite Wreckeria and get away from the decades of violence and infighting that has plagued the nation. Byrnes, who used to play for Sporting Milwood Town before the Wreckerian Premier League collapsed 10 years ago, was a star striker for the team. Now, he's just hoping his fellow Wreckerians can pull off a miracle in the World Cup. Byrnes will focus on a neutral style of play for the World Cup, and will rely on the 3-4-3 formation for most of the time.

Byrnes' staff includes:
ASSISTANT MANAGER: Abner Crewe
ASSISTANT COACH: Nick Donaldson
GOALKEEPING COACH: Quentin Joyner
TRAINER: Charlie Garner
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Darrell Glazier
PHYSIO: Robert Fry

The Fans:
A small group of Wreckerians have vowed to make the trip to whatever nation will play host to the Wrecks during the World Cup Qualifiers. There's not many of them, but they're passionate and want to present as positive image of their land as they can. They'll be there to cheer on their fellow Wreckerians, some of whom they fought in battles with. While Wreckerians will want to present as positive of a picture of their nation as possible, they do like to have fun, and they look to make your World Cup as enjoyable as possible.

Stadium:
Patrick Stadium, Halsted, Wreckeria
Built: 1958 | Seating Capacity: 30,000 | Open-Air | Natural Grass
Image
Built back in the late 50s for the Halsted State University football team, William Patrick Stadium in Halsted wound up becoming the nation's de facto national stadium after the nation's original national stadium, Wreckeria Stadium, was blown up by the True Wreckerians after they thought it to be a outpost for the Party of Pride. Patrick Stadium has seen better days, but the Wreckerians are in the process of fixing the stadium up so it can look about as nice as can be for the World Cup qualifiers. This will be the last year for Patrick Stadium as the home of Wreckerian football, a new national stadium is well under construction elsewhere in Halsted.

The Players:
(Starting players in green, typical subs in red)
GOALKEEPERS:
## POS Player
1 GOL Harold Leslie
21 GOL Florence Northrop
22 GOL Carey Atwater

The goalkeeping squad is led by Harold Leslie, a native of the capital city of Halsted. Leslie was found by the Wreckerian Association of Soccer in a pick-up game of soccer with his friends, when he was seen fending off the challenges of a number of attackers. Leslie's close friends, Florence Northrop and Carey Atwater were signed as well.

DEFENDERS:
## POS Player
2 DEF Scott Murphy
3 DEF Cash Brewster
4 DEF Aaron Boatwright

12 DEF Emerson Danielson
13 DEF Francis Hayward

14 DEF Hayden Derryhouse

Scott Murphy, a native of Minortown, was picked up by the WAS after ruthlessly taking down several attackers in a pick-up game. Brewster, a native of Halsted, was a member of the HFA team from Pinkerton in Hapilopper for four years. Boatwright, meanwhile, has played on a number of amateur soccer teams in Wreckeria for about a decade or so. Said to a pretty decent individual.

MIDFIELDERS:
## POS Player
5 MID Mike Hamilton
6 MID Gerald Heath
7 MID Sig Justice
8 MID Cale Wyatt

15 MID Sid Clifton
16 MID Riley Pratt

17 MID Kelsey Camerson

Michael Hamilton and Gerald Heath are defensive midfielders, while Sig Justice and Cale Wyatt are the team's offensive midfielders. All four are top amateur players in Wreckeria. Sig Justice is rumored to be a huge fan of softball and has been rumored to skip out on league matches to play softball. Sig denies these rumors.

FORWARDS:
## POS Player
9 FWD Claude Tindall
10 FWD Darcy Carman
11 FWD Oliver Bloxam

18 FWD Scott Boatwright
19 FWD Hunter Bell

20 FWD Viv McKinley

Claude Tindall, Darcy Carman and Oliver Bloxam were picked as the team's leading forwards after a shoot-out with the other forwards on the team. All six players could concievably start at one point or another. Boatwright, who is not related to Aaron Boatwright, will likely sub with Hunter Bell.

Style Mod: +1

The roster of the Jamestownnnn FC Juggernauts

Formation (4-3-3)

Style +4.5

Coach- Luke Madison(age:33)

Position-#-Name(age:hometown)

Left Forward- #2-Johnathan LaButte(19:Florence)
After an extremely impressive BoF debut scoring 11 goals, Jonathan LaButte has caught the attention of many major clubs worldwide. His speed is a major reason for his success as he ran a 9.98 100 meter dash in the U-21 Jamestownnnn Olympics in December.
Center Forward- #9-Weston Richards(22:Jimesburg)
After missing a potential game winning penalty in the round of 32 of the BoF, Richards is looking for some major redemption in this World Cup.
Right Forward- #3-EJ Mckenzie(16:Jimesburg)
McKenzie had a very impressive debut in the BoF. He earned the respect of the coaches and has earned a starting spot up top.
Center Attacking Mid- #10-Wallace Thompson(27:Silver Lake)
Thompson sustained an ankle injury in the BoF qualifying rounds. It will be interesting to see if it will hold up long enough for the veteran from Silver Lake to make an impact in this World Cup.
Center Attacking Mid- #7-James Watson(21:Dargonton)
Although he struggled early on, Watson eventually overcame his discomfort and had some crucial moments during the BoF. It will be interesting to see how he responds to the hype of the World Cup.
Center Defensive Mid- #6-Bryce Cannon(20:Brighton)
Cannon came on multiple times as a sub in the BoF and is now making his first start in the World Cup.
Left Back- #22-Walker Williams(24:Jimesburg)
Williams impressed the entire country of Jamestownnnn in 2019 by scoring 4 goals in the Jamestownnnn Super Cup Final in 2019 with Jimesburg FC. He didn't have much of an impact in the BoF and many Jamestownian supporters were disappointed.
Center Back- #4-Clyve Zimmerman(23:Southfork)
Zimmerman is carrying some major momentum from the BoF into this World Cup and will hopefully continue to impress fans with his ferocious defending.
Center Back- #13-Jonas Pugh(26:Jimesburg)
After a sloppy BoF, critics are questioning whether Pugh should have a starting spot on the squad. Pugh stands at 5' 7" and weighs only 130 lbs. Coach Madison has his back, however, and claims that once he can find is confidence, he will become an elite center back.
Right Back- #11-Aaron Black(22:Brighton)
The 22 year old Right Back from Brighton was in major foul trouble in the BoF. he received 2 yellow cards a red card, and 13 fouls during the qualifying rounds. In order to succeed in the World Cup, he must use his head more than his legs.
Goal Keeper- #1-Johaan Legado(26:Wimlech)
After a very disappointing BoF, Legado will be fighting to keep his job as starting keeper for this World Cup.

Substitutes
RF- #12-Tyler Graysun(18:Jimesburg)
CF- #21-Karsyn Hurst(21:Brighton)
CAM- #8-JP Greelish(23:Rockdale)

TAMGU NATIONAL TEAM ROSTER FOR WC85
Image

Official Name: United States Of Tamgu
Nickname: The Hawks
Trigramme: TMG
World Ranking: 85th
    Manager: Yann Şannavaro
  • Style Mod.: 3.75
  • Pref. Formation 3-5-2
  • Alt. Formation: 5-3-2

Tamgu Squad

    Goalkeepers
  • Sami Felter* (GK, N91, A22) This acrobatic keeper is great at stopping 1v1 situations and penalties.
  • Sona Galitas (GK, N52, A31) Old member of the national team who's having a second wind.
  • Hert Yonyi (GK, N35, A27) nothing special, third goalkeeper.

    Defenders
  • Dano Teilar* (CB, N2, A26) A strong and tall center-back that excels at headers and sending the ball up the pitch.
  • Pate Konar* (CB N3, A27) Another strong and tall center-back, is the best tackler the country has seen in decades.
  • Eren Postas* (CB, N4, A23) Has become a vital part of the NT due to his warrior-like defensive performance. Has scored a hat-trick in the league this week.
  • Marke Larsin (CB, N65, A24) reliable defender that could very well be playing in the first 11.
  • Dano Lekser (CB, N41, A28) Defender that does his job simply and very efficiently. His lack of pace gets him benched a lot.
  • Dünser Yakem (CB, N42, A25) Has fallen down the pecking order after Postas' rise.

    Midfielders
  • Sayken Ilko* (CM, N8, A30) Free-kick specialist, also a great passer. Captain.
  • Canke Elak (CM, N31, A27) Nothing special, but very strong.
  • Yann Ulsima* (CM, N88, A19) Wonderkid that has shown good performances in club and country. Has earned his place in the first XI.
  • Uruke Mantes (CM, N12, A24) Recently got back into form and back into the national team roster.
  • Aleida Leima* (CAM, N10, A25) An all around number ten. quick, good passer, good shooter, has great vision.
  • Gardon Tansa-Hasala (CAM, N50, A18) The prodigy has quickly caught the attention of many major Goranian clubs. Recently turned 18, which allows him to play on the main NT.

    Wingers
  • Tanel Tayman* (LM, N7, A27) talented and quick dribbler, makes a lot of assists.
  • Enzo Amor (LM, N77, A21) A failed wonderkid, very talented but doesn't have a professional attitude, plays because nobody else can.
  • Reki Reizo* (RM, N20, A28) Technically strong right midfielder that is good at shooting and long passing, doesn't dribble as much as Tayman.
  • Egan Duman (RM, N61, A26) A carbon copy of Reki Reizo, can be swapped and nobody would see the difference.

    Strikers
  • Ante Nekir* (ST, N9, A24) Striker that can fire rockets with both feet. has good movement to make up for his lack of pace.
  • Paletar Soros* (ST, N11, A25) Tall aerial threat. has great chemistry with Nekir.
  • Federik Umar (ST, N21, A29) Quick striker, doesn't get played much since he can't link up with Nekir.
  • Uras Timider (ST, N88, A22) A supersub, can be really effective off the bench but can't play 90 minutes.

Starters have * next to their name.

NCS United Republic Team
Manager: Zach Sung-Yong
Named the 1st Coach of the National NCS team, Zach Sung-Yong has been Coach of the Year 11 times in the NSSA as coach of the Luminous Centrale Team, who he has coached to 9 championships.

Sung-Yong is credited with guiding Jared Kubos to setting records in the NSSA in Total goals scored(140), Goal scoring rate(89.9), Most Balls Stolen(132), total yards traveled(1400).

Captain: Jared Kubos(Foward, #24)
Kubos is the captain of the NSSA team. He leads the league in around 4 categories. The 24-year-old, while injury prone, when healthy is a monster on the field. At the NSSA draft, he was compared to Messi.

GoalKeepers
#1 Louis Timothie(Alternate Captain)
#15 Kim So-So
#00 Brian Robleas
Timothie is one of the best goalkeepers in the league. He leads in altogether saves and penalty saves. For the last 6 seasons, Timothe has guided Limanoche FC to 4 championships and 6 playoff runs. So-So was picked due to the fact he plays well as a backup(top in saves by a backup goalie, 10th in saves). So-So has been Timothie's backup on Limnoche for 2 seasons. Robleas was chosen because he was #2 in saves, and because tradition says that Syldavia will be guided to victory by the number 00. Robleas has even saved 48 of Captain Kubos's kicks.

Fowards
#24 Jared Kubos(see Captain)
#56 Pierre Mussoli
#12 Nicoslae Cinausceau.
#34 Xia Shang-Zhou
#10 Han Sal May
#98 Tyson Hall
#31 Andre Kubolovski
All 7 goalies are the top 7 in Goals scored by a foward. All 7 have lead their teams to playoff runs in the NSSA, including Kubolovski, who was the main reason for Internationale SC's surprise playoff runs. Xia was also responsible for a surprise Finals win for Limanoche FC, scoring at 105:00 to end the game.
Right Backs
#44 Valdamir Plimskovy
#30 Damavin Choscky
Plimskovy is a blazing defender who will steal the ball from you if you're not careful. Choscky is a grand defender who has studied under stars like Wayne Rooney, and he has lead Right Backs in defending.
Left Backs
#2 Otto M. Slyvia.
#13 Cambodia Yimlivy
Both Slyvia and Yimlivy are in the top 2 of NSSA in Left Backs in defending.

Personality: The greatest national team ever assembled, the National Team will argue with refs only if they disagree with calls, mostly the coach choosing a non-Captain to go argue. NEPHARA
World Ranking:
5th
Preferred Formation: 4-4-2
Secondary Formation: 4-3-3
Style Modifier: 0
Home Stadium: The Farham Arena in Sabrefell is reserved for the biggest games, but Nephara is a large enough country that it spreads its matches across the nation.
Kit Supplier: ediraf
Nickname: The Cormorants

Third in the last World Cup, third in the Copa Rushmori, fourth in the rankings. Suddenly, the Cormorants are nearly as good as any random in Sabrefell's town square thinks. Expectations are high, with it the pressure that the Cormorants have rarely dealt well with. Still. They hope this time it might all fall into place again, if the really good players could just even be so much as the sum of their parts for a year. Juuust so long as they don't draw Savojarna. Then everything will go to hell.

Tactics
Image
Nepharan football is based around playing hard, pressing aggressively, playing for keeps. Occasionally this leaves gaps behind the high defensive line, though most Nepharan goalkeepers are in the sweeping mould these days to compensate. Marchers are, by and large, a physically imposing folk, and eager to throw their size around. The footballing culture is intensely competitive, and those that survive to make their way to the top are hellbent on winning at any cost. Elbows to the face. Subtle digs in the ribs. Diving is dishonest when opponents do it but streetwise when Nepharim do it. In short, Nephara are the bully from two years above who picked you, specifically, out as a natural target.

That is often the foreign perspective, but it overlooks a key fact; Nepharan football can honestly be beautiful to watch. Generations of players brought up on dry plains or asphalt play the ball quickly and fearlessly along the ground, never sideways when there's a forward option open, always looking to stretch and probe and stay one really good pass away from a goal. Nepharim are undoubtedly physical, even cynical, but their success has been built off the backs of ruthless, fast-paced passing football.

The Godhead
For home matches, and during international tournaments, Nephara wheels out the 'Godhead', a giant boulder with an eerie resemblance to Gethin Ramsey, first manager of the Cormorants in the modern era and by now long dead. Nepharim have a superstitious streak, and while nobody's saying it is, in fact, the mystic reincarnation of their most iconic leader, nobody's quite not saying it, either. The Godhead is traditionally 'walked' to the stadium by Nepharim ultras using an intricate series of ropes, and often a flare is wedged into its 'mouth' to simulate a smoking cigar.

Staff
Manager - Daniella Strauss - Age 50
Assistant Manager - Monica Brightwater - Age 62
A former striker, Strauss has never done it at a truly big club - but then, the obvious candidates tend to fail for Nephara. Strauss turned a terrible Corvette side into a credible Premiership outfit for a time, and started to revitalise Southfell United before the Cormorants came calling. Unusually for Nepharim, she likes to keep ahold of the ball, but likes to play quick, aggressive football, with a high line choking the opposition. Monica Brightwater has experienced the Peter Principle first-hand, having managed Treason and Eastweald and failed at both. Even so, she offers a steady hand at the tiller to help Strauss implement her philosophy.

Goalkeepers
Core
1 - GK - Hesterine Mercator (Image Eastweald) - Age 30 - 59 caps, 23 clean sheets
Narrow-shouldered and rather horse-faced, Mercator carries the hopes of Nephara's future. She's outspoken on and off the pitch, unafraid to give referees and defenders alike a piece of her mind. A sharp, acrobatic shot-stopper, a little weak in the air.

12 - GK - Acatha Feldman (Image AFC Corvistone) - Age 30 - 2 caps
Amazing the effect a year can have on a career. Feldman was quietly accepted to be too good to rot in the second tier, got plucked out by the Crows and was everpresent as they fought their way to the top four for the first time in their history. A brilliantly agile shot-stopper, good with her feet in a pinch.

20 - GK - Aranea Provost (Image Holdenberg) - Age 21 - Uncapped
Anyone with any sense has their eye on Provost. She's sharp, spry, with the height and deceptive power to command her area, and only getting better year on year. She broke through at Brookford, playing every minute across a successful season, and is now winning a place at Holdenberg.

Defenders
2 - RB - Rovena Stride (Image AFC Treason) - Age 23 - 22 caps, 2 goals
Stride's surname is apt. She's fast; very fast. She's still raw, and still occasionally slips up in her duties, but she tries to just do the simple things. Just, does all of them at once, racing upfield for overlapping runs to lash in raking low crosses, before tracking back at full speed to put in a crunching sliding tackle.

3 - LB - Marcin Close (Image Brinemouth, c) - Age 29 - 82 caps, 2 goals
An athletic fullback who has boundless energy, constantly chasing up the flank and tracking back diligently, a quiet and unremarkable professional of the pitch. With a maturity belying his years, Close just does what is needed. But perhaps that's reductive. One doesn't achieve what he has without the ability to change a game with the right tackle, or the right cross; Close has the pace to follow one up with the other.

5 - CB - Roxelana Thorn (Image Revolutionaries) - Age 27 - 75 caps, 1 goal
Tall, decisive and muscular, Thorn throws herself fearlessly into any challenge to keep the ball out of her net. The art of defending - the joy of defending - is not lost, not as long as Thorn is here. She has grown into a truly world-class defender.

6 - CB - Ilyana Brosch (Image Brinemouth) - Age 28 - 51 caps, 3 goals
A tall, grave figure, with a dense web of tattoos. Brosch doesn't really get angry. She just stares. It's worse, somehow. She's an uncompromising defender who sticks tight to her task, and is growing increasingly confident in possession.

18 - RB - Valeri Longship (ImageCrisisbless) - Age 27 - 30 caps, 1 goal
Longship's small, unassuming body is inked almost head to toe. A troubled child whose apprenticeship at Morningstar allegedly included bribes from the club to get her a Year 10 certificate, Longship's anger flares up on the field not infrequently. But she's an excellent fullback, particularly on the defensive, forceful in the tackle and never out of position.

19 - LB - Vivica Muscadin (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 22 - Uncapped
Like many prospects from the Moths, Muscadin is sharp and trained to win at any and all costs. She strides the field with an easy arrogance and a ferocious burst of pace, and anyone trying to get past her is due a stud in the back of the knee. So, no, she's not interested in playing nice.

22 - CB - Gabriel Lockheed (ImageAFC Treason) - Age 26 - 16 caps, 1 goal
Lockheed is a powerhouse, someone who was on no lists of future greats until injuries at the Stags thrust him into the firing line and he stood up flawlessly to the task. He combines physicality with intelligence and no small mastery of the dark arts.

Midfielders
4 - HM - Tawny Shone (Image Sabrefell Moths) - Age 27 - 69 caps, 6 goals
A true street-scrapper, from the hard part of Sabrefell. That reflects in her play, uncompromising and full-throttle despite her relatively small size, scampering around and committing niggling fouls.and sneaky ankle-taps. She's far more than a destroyer, though, and that becomes clear the moment she glides onto the ball and picks out a perfect pass from range.

7 - RM - Marica Kuepper (Image Jungle Strike) - Age 27 - 42 caps, 13 goals
Nepharim wingers do not generally have a reputation for flair - nevertheless, here the mercurial Marica Kuepper is, combining the traditional lightning pace, general bittiness and ability to handle herself in a scrap with the... let's be honest, arrogance required to really like humiliating her markers.

8 - CM - Malachi Chalk (Image Falourr) - Age 28 - 39 caps, 7 goals
Make no mistake, Chalk can handle himself in a scrap. He won't start one, but he'll finish one. He's assertive and confident in possession, but more efficient than flashy. His driving runs into the box cause havoc, and he'll be just as decisive at the other end, a true box-to-box man.

11 - LM - Rowena Strongbow (Image Directus) - Age 32 - 145 caps, 47 goals
A powerful, old-school Nepharim winger who burst onto the scene a while back and has impressed everyone for club and country. She's got it all - pace, power, professionalism, and pfinal ball. Surely one of the world's best players, having never taken a step back in her career. The first woman to ply her trade in Eura's leagues, she never looked back.

13 - RM - Monako Saroszi (Image Ulsa) - Age 29 - 85 caps, 23 goals
A fearless, driving winger, unafraid to get their hands dirty to get back the ball. They exude a quiet confidence that manifests itself on the pitch as flashy, decisive moves, and they're unafraid to take on a shot themselves. Their red card was the catalyst for everything going wrong last cycle. They have some redemption ahead.

15 - HM - Mercurio Kastriot (Image Crisisbless) - Age 26 - 8 caps
While Kastriot is a boxy, scrappy bruiser of a man, he's known as one of the Premiership's most progressive, oddly elegant defensive midfielders in possession. He will use any and all tricks to stop the opponent dead in their tracks, and knows just about every way to kill a game.

16 - LM - Morena Deventer (Image Brinemouth) - Age 26 - 38 caps, 12 goals
Deventer's got a real sense of mischief about her. She's a trouble-maker, at least on the pitch. Maybe a little off it. But her impish goblin grin conceals a brilliant football intelligence, which brings the best from her considerable technique and pace. Somewhat lightweight, and has a slight tendency to overthink things at this stage.

21 - AM - Chimera Moxham (Image Crawford City FC) - Age 28 - 88 caps, 36 goals
Aren't playmakers meant to be classy? Moxham isn't. She's arrogant, but not in an elegant way, she just always believes she knows the right thing to do, on and off the pitch. Perhaps annoyingly, she's usually right. Decision-making can be a bit flaky, but she has the pace, the eye for goal and even the defensive workrate to make up for it.

Forwards
9 - ST - Kurtis Bastable (Image Ulsa) - Age 26 - 50 caps, 26 goals
A sturdy figure with a low centre of gravity, immense strength and resilience, a deceptive change of pace and an unerring eye for goal, Bastable has emerged as the natural successor to Estrella Hawke, though he's less versatile in his skillset and better with the ball at his feet.

10 - ST - Aristide Metzger (Image AFC Treason) - Age 29 - 67 caps, 32 goals
Metzger has had to be patient, sticking with his hometown club, but has steadily been able to force his foot in the door as Roddy Fraser aged. And, no, he isn't nearly as clinical a goalscorer... yet. He's an all-action forward, with no setting to dial down the tempo. Plays hard and fast, and prefers power over placement.

14 - ST - Arista Tzorvas (Image CA Paulinthal) - Age 26 - 9 caps, 2 goals
Tzorvas has been around in her time, and swayed in and out of international reckoning. Regardless, she appears to have timed her run well. When high on confidence, and of late she's been high on confidence, Tzorvas combines top-quality athleticism with ruthless finishing, a generally strong all-rounder up front.

17 - ST - Voska Avetisyan (Image Cornellians) - Age 22 - Uncapped
This... this is a sneaky one. Avetisyan's never been to mainland Nephara in her life. But like many Iskandrians, there's mainlander blood somewhere, and it's easy to get dual citizenship. And it's amazing how quickly you can get papers if you're a tall, powerful battering ram of a striker.

23 - ST - Konrad Lovelace (Image19p5irW.png[/img] Revolutionaries) - Age 24 - 13 caps, 5 goals
'The new Estrella Hawke', according to excitable headlines that don't pay attention to anything that matters. They're both from Starling, they're both strikers, they're both athletic, they're both good. Thus far, Lovelace lacks a real dimension besides blistering pace, football intelligence and a ruthless finish - and also lacks a right boot. But he can still do the damage.

Siovanija and Teusland National Football Team, World Cup 85 Qualifiers

Facts

Nation Name: United Republics of Siovanija and Teusland
Short Names: Siovanija and Teusland, the United Republics
Demonyms: Siovanijan, Teus
FA: Siovanija and Teusland Football Association (STFA)
Colours: Blue and gold
Anthem: ‘High Mountain Skies’
Capital City: Borograd
Other Major Cities: St. Jakob, Stelburg, Vlaikograd, Chernovets, Felsenkirchen
Highest Domestic League: Republikaliga
Nicknames: The Goldhorns
Style Modifier: +1.5

Coaching Staff

Manager: Gavin Hughes (APX) - 97 matches in charge, 47-19-32

When Gavin Hughes took over as manager of the national team heading into the World Cup 82 cycle, he pledged to bring the team to the World Cup Finals. 2 cycles later, that goal was achieved as the Goldhorns qualified for World Cup 84 for the first time ever. After a strong debut that saw the team also earn their first-ever Finals win, and an excellent performance at AOCAF 60 - huge wins over Baker Park and Banija to reach the Quarterfinal before going out in extra time to eventual champions Ko-oren - the national team is back and ready to try and reach the ultimate stage again. The Goldhorns have utilized the 4-3-3 formation to great success in recent competition, the midfield of Thorsten Kramer, Viktor Dimitrov and Todor Mihailov a key part in the game plan. With an abundance of great forward options, however, don’t be surprised to see the Goldhorns shift to a 4-4-2 in certain situations. One story to watch as well is a bit of a changing of the guard - 16 of the players in the national pool have 10 or fewer caps, and 7 of those are uncapped.

National Pool

Goalkeepers

All caps and goals up to date as of the end of AOCAF 60. Some players (currently 2, eventually more) have NSWiki articles, those will be linked as well.

GK -- Ewald Heuser -- 23y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 19 caps, 5 clean sheets
GK -- Yanko Zhelyaskov -- 29y/o -- Farrenton Athletic (EUR) -- 41 caps, 6 clean sheets
GK -- Anatoli Sveteikov -- 31y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 8 caps, 1 clean sheet
GK -- Samuel Hartstein -- 31y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- Uncapped

Ewald Heuser has grabbed onto the number 1 shirt for his country and seems to have no intention of letting it go. He had an excellent performance at AOCAF 60, coming into the squad for the key second game against Demot and shutting the door before being a key player in wins over Baker Park and Banija as the Goldhorns reached the Quarterfinal. The sweeper keeper will be expected to continue his great play here. Backing him up is the usual cast, with Yanko Zhelyaskov trying to rebuild his reputation with the national team. He’s had a rough go lately for his country, particularly during World Cup 83’s Qualifiers where he lost the starting job in the aftermath of a disastrous performance in the playoff stage. Anatoli Sveteikov should probably have more than 8 caps to his name for how good he’s been over the years and how often he’s been involved in the squad, and this might be an opportunity for him to get more appearances. Samuel Hartstein, the reliable 1912 Stelburg keeper, gets his first call up here, it’s likely he’ll get a chance to show his worth at least once or twice in qualifiers.

Left Back

LB -- Edgar Steimle -- 24y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 46 caps
LB -- Axel Richter -- 22y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 7 caps
LB -- Lyubomir Dimitrov -- 27y/o -- FK Metropola Borograd -- 53 caps
LB -- Iliya Karapetrov -- 30y/o -- Shamrock Cathair (AUD) -- 2 caps

Edgar Steimle is a key option for the Goldhorns at left back, and despite some struggles due to his inexperience, he grows into a more confident player with every minute he’s on the pitch for the national team. A pacy full back capable of surging down the left side, he can cause trouble for any team who has weaknesses on that flank. Behind him is Axel Richter, the Teussen left back who has had an excellent start to his career in the Republikaliga and has looked good on 7 international appearances. Lyubomir Dimitrov is an always-steady option who can be relied upon at this point in his career, especially as a more defensive-minded player. Iliya Karapetrov had a strong season off the bench for Shamrock in their title challenge last year, and that’s earned him another chance with the national team as he looks to build on his 2 caps.

Centre Back

CB -- Raphael Klopfer (C) -- 31y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 127 caps, 5 goals
CB -- Karl-Heinz Jager -- 24y/o -- Raynor City United (VAL) -- 72 caps, 5 goals
CB -- Erich Thierse -- 27y/o -- FC Rotmunde 1932 -- 20 caps
CB -- Taras Maksimov -- 20y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- Uncapped
CB -- Tristan Niedermayer -- 22y/o -- Chenoworth Harriers (NPH) -- Uncapped

The key duo here for the Goldhorns is that of Raphael Klopfer and Karl-Heinz Jager. Klopfer is one of the few players remaining in this squad that took to the field in the Goldhorns’ first ever international match all those years ago at the Baptism of Fire, and has developed into a key leader for the squad as well as a strong ball-playing defender. Jager is the perfect partner for him, a confident player as well with the ball, and a strong tackler. He’s achieved a great deal of success in his club career as well, named to the Galacticos longlist for his efforts. Erich Thierse was the Republikaliga’s Best Defender last season as Rotmunde came oh-so-close to earning an IFCF birth, Thierse has looked solid when given the opportunity lately for his country and might get more chances here - especially with Jager, who he’s looked good beside. There’s also some representation for the next generation here: Taras Maksimov has developed into a very strong player for Energija Chernovets, and after sitting on the bench at the AOCAF should be trusted to earn at least a few caps here. Tristan Niedermayer also gets his first senior call-up here, a star for the Goldhorns at the youth level who has done well for himself so far in Nephara with the Harriers. He and Maksimov are both going to be relied on heavily in the future as the national team experiences generational change over the next few years.

Right Back

RB -- Pierre-Louis Lotbiniere -- 23y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 39 caps
RB -- Darijen Vesele -- 22y/o -- Rene Skae (FFD) -- Uncapped
RB -- Thorsten Helmke -- 30y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 42 caps
RB -- Trude Spitz -- 26y/o -- Keenan Athletic (COS) -- 2 caps

Pierre-Louis Lotbiniere is similar to his teammate for club and country, Edgar Steimle, in a few ways: speedy full backs who pose danger for anyone who gives them spaces. And much like Steimle, Lotbiniere has grown into his role as the starting right back for this team under the mentorship of former club team-mate and national team legend Lutz Daschner. A challenge is coming for the #2 shirt, however, in the form of Darijen Vesele. Vesele was the lone bright spot for FK Vlaikograd 1896 last season in the Republikaliga, and was considered one of the better young fullbacks in the league. That promise earned him a move to defending Farfadillis’ league champions Rene Skae, where Vesele will hope to continue his development. He’s already an excellent crosser, with great accuracy, and will be given plenty of chances with the national team here. Thorsten Helmke is the more defensive option, the steady Felsenkirchen fullback who is always reliable and rarely makes a mistake. Trude Spitz is here too, the first and only female player to date to be capped by the senior national team, and after a strong season with Keenan Athletic, including scoring a goal in the playoff final despite defeat, may be on her way to building on those 2 caps to date.

Centre Midfield

CM -- Thorsten Kramer (VC) -- 27y/o -- 1830 Cathair (AUD) -- 134 caps, 37 goals
CM -- Todor Mihailov -- 23y/o -- Yeadinn Owls (VIL) -- 41 caps, 2 goals
CM -- Dennis Brotzmann -- 33y/o -- Herzegovina City FC (BNJ) -- 64 caps, 1 goal
CM -- Heinrich Bahr -- 22y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 4 caps

Arguably the most important factor in the national team’s World Cup Qualification in World Cup 84 was the performance of the midfield, and Thorsten Kramer and Todor Mihailov each had a key role in that. What is there to say about Thorsten Kramer? Named to the Galacticos World XI last season as a starting midfielder, he’s a Champion’s League winner with Cathair in addition to many other honours in his career. The smart, skilled Kramer is capable of playing a playmaking role in midfield as well as getting forward and sitting behind a forward as a ‘shadow striker,’ which he did with great success at AOCAF 60 as he led the team with 5 goals in that tournament. Entering his prime, Kramer will be hoping to continue his great success with the national team here. Todor Mihailov is the deep-lying playmaker at the heart of the midfield, capable of dictating the tempo of the game as well as playing excellent passes forward. At a young age he’s become a star for this team and his role will only increase as the years go by. Dennis Brotzmann, the captain for his club Herzegovina City, is even at an older age still a key role player for this team. An anchor option in midfield, he has been particularly useful in matches the Goldhorns need to defend in. Heinrich Bahr has been very solid in his role in midfield for Teussen, and plays the playmaking role very well. He’s expected to get a number of chances in the Qualifying campaign to expand his role in the national set-up.

Left Wing

LW -- Mario Kogler -- 26y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 44 caps, 8 goals
LW -- Lojze Kokalj -- 21y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 11 caps
LW -- Lutz von Bergen -- 30y/o -- SW Stahlberg -- 27 caps, 3 goals
LW -- Linus Segert -- 25y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- Uncapped

Mario Kogler has become a star for both his club and country, and will be hoping to continue that here at World Cup 85’s qualifiers. With excellent technical skill and speed, he’s very tricky to defend. Kogler surprised many by turning down enticing offers from abroad last summer, feeling he still had unfinished business at Teussen, and the dynamic winger is absolutely key for the Goldhorns on the left side. Backing him up will be Olympia Borograd’s hottest prospect Lojze Kokalj, who after getting experience on loan had a brilliant debut year with the club. A tall player, Kokalj is able to outmuscle many defenders and has a scoring touch on him that has been compared to another key Olympia player, Ivo Romanov. Lutz von Bergen has always done a job when called on by the national team, and while his role has reduced in recent years, he’s certainly earned his 27 caps and will be hoping to build on that. Coming into the squad for the first time is Linus Segert, fresh off his big move this summer to Felsenkirchen as part of that club’s massive squad overhaul. Segert was well-known at former club Marnau for his ability to take over the game, and with new opportunities beckoning at the domestic and international level, he’s eager to prove himself.

Centre Attacking Midfield

CAM -- Viktor Dimitrov -- 30y/o -- Energija Chernovets -- 118 caps, 7 goals
CAM -- Kurt Witzel -- 24y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 20 caps, 4 goals
CAM -- Leopold Bliznakov -- 21y/o -- Zvezda Vlaikograd -- Uncapped
CAM -- Julian Werner -- 21y/o -- FC Rotmunde 1932 -- 1 cap

Viktor Dimitrov is a true veteran of the team, having started in its first-ever match at the Baptism of Fire, and has been a key player in this position ever since. As the tip of the midfield triangle with Kramer and Mihailov, Dimitrov mostly excels in the advanced playmaker role, but due to the nature of the Goldhorns’ system is also capable of dropping deeper to allow Thorsten Kramer to get forward. The talismanic playmaker for Chernovets, Dimitrov holds the national record for assists (60) and is considered the national team’s best free kick taker. Kurt Witzel, fresh off a big move to FC Teussen Stelburg, comes into the squad as the heir apparent to Dimitrov, another excellent playmaker who has filled in well on his 20 appearances. There’s also young blood: Leopold Bliznakov was a key part of the Goldhorns’ youth set-up over the past few years and won Young Player of the Year in the Republikaliga last season with Zvezda Vlaikograd, a truly dynamic player, while Julian Werner, the Rotmunde midfielder who also had a great year with his club last year, will also get a chance again with the national team. There’s no shortage of talent here, and all are exceptionally talented playmakers.

Right Wing

RW -- Lukas Tauscher -- 22y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 33 caps, 7 goals
RW -- Ivo Romanov -- 33y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 115 caps, 47 goals
RW -- Sinisa Gaspersie -- 28y/o -- Zvezda Vlaikograd -- Uncapped
RW -- Gerold Tegeler -- 25y/o -- 1912 Stelburg -- 2 caps

An excellent performance for Lukas Tauscher at AOCAF 60 confirmed what many had suspected: he is the new star for the national team on the right wing, and he might just be one of its brighter stars overall. Utterly dominant in FC Teussen Stelburg’s title win, he received plenty of accolades to back that up: Republikaliga Golden Ball, as well as being named amongst the Galacticos longlist. Quick, dynamic, always a threat - Tauscher is hard to stop on his day, and he’s ready to expand his international credentials in Qualifying. Backing him up is the ever-reliable national legend, Ivo Romanov. Returning back to Olympia Borograd and the Republikaliga after a successful spell in Brenecia with Rozelle, he’s not as quick as he was in his younger days but all the other qualities that made him such an excellent player are still there, as seen in his 47 career goals for his country. Sinisa Gaspersie brings yet more speed to a Goldhorns team that likes to play quick, and for Zvezda Vlaikograd he was immense last season as they surged into the upper midtable. Gerold Tegeler made his debut in World Cup 84’s Qualifiers, was key for VfB Marlesee in their fight to avoid relegation, and was rewarded for all of those efforts with a big move to 1912 Stelburg. An excellent crosser, Tegeler will be hoping to add to his 2 caps in this campaign.

Centre Forward

CF -- Michael Ribbeck -- 25y/o -- Kingsgrove (BRE) -- 85 caps, 67 goals
CF -- Ludwig Reichwein -- 28y/o -- FC Teussen Stelburg -- 38 caps, 14 goals
CF -- Stanimir Ilev -- 27y/o -- CA Paulinthal (PAS) -- 5 caps, 3 goals
CF -- Krasimir Kynev -- 27y/o -- Olympia Borograd -- 81 caps, 40 goals
CF -- Johannes Mandl -- 29y/o -- FC Felsenkirchen 1879 -- 3 caps, 4 goals
CF -- Anton Dimitrov -- 29y/o -- Soldarian FC (VAL) -- 10 caps, 5 goals

How do you pick from this collection of forwards? Undoubtedly the Goldhorns’ position with the most depth, all 6 of these names would be very capable starting up top for their country. In this collection are current or former Golden Boot winners from 3 different leagues (Republikaliga, Brenecia and Pasarga), three league titles last season (Republikaliga, Brenecia and Valanora) and 133 international goals. Michael Ribbeck leads the way, however, and is perhaps a class above the rest - after a brilliant debut year in Brenecia which saw him capture the Golden Boot and help Kingsgrove to the A-League title, he recovered from an opening match injury at AOCAF 60 to score key goals in the Goldhorns’ Quarterfinal run. The all-time leader in international goals for his country, Ribbeck is sure to add to that running tally at this tournament. Ludwig Reichwein has always been solid on his 38 appearances for his country, and leads the line for Teussen in the Republikaliga. Stanimir Ilev captured the Pasargan Golden Boot in his debut year at Paulinthal, and had a great start to life with the Goldhorns with 3 goals in his first 5 caps. Krasimir Kynev, of course, is a veteran of this team and has 40 goals to his name. Dropped for the AOCAF owing to the exceptional performances of compatriots abroad, he’s fighting for his place for the first time and can be expected to be a man desperate to perform at these Qualifiers - something he should get plenty of chances to do. Johannes Mandl famously scored a hat-trick on his national team debut in World Cup 84 Qualifiers, he was highly expected to be a part of the Goldhorns’ AOCAF squad after an excellent season with Felsenkirchen but missed out due to an injury. He’ll be looking to stake his claim for a spot in the shortened squad for upcoming tournament play. Finally, after an excellent season with Soldarian FC Anton Dimitrov returns to the squad, he’ll be looking to earn his first cap since World Cup 82’s Qualifiers here. With this level of talent available to Gavin Hughes, it is likely that in at least a few games the Goldhorns will trial a 4-4-2 to make full use of the skill here. The star of the team, however, is Ribbeck, and the #9 shirt is his.

However, due to the nature and length of Qualifiers, most of the players in the national pool will get an opportunity at some point. I will usually name a squad for the next match in the previous MD's RP. Feel free to request a lineup by TG/Discord if needed.)

Group and Schedule

For World Cup 85’s Qualifiers, the Goldhorns have been drawn into Group 10, alongside the nations of Bolgano, Abanhfleft, The Commuinist republic of chinatown, When U Die, St Saratoga, ZSeparatists, Trolleborg, Electrum, Appalachian Nation, Soracana Islands, Free Republics and Ethane. There are a few familiar faces for the Goldhorns here. Bolgano were in the Goldhorns’ group during World Cup 84’s Qualifiers, and the Goldhorns managed a 3-2 win in St. Jakob as well as a 1-0 win on the road. Ethane met the Goldhorns twice in World Cup 82’s Qualifiers, the sides drew 2-2 in Stelburg before a 3-0 loss for the Goldhorns in the return leg. Abanhfleft were one of the Goldhorns’ opponents in World Cup 83’s playoff round, a match the Goldhorns lost 3-2, while the national team have also faced Free Republics once in a friendly match won by the home Republicans 3-0. Siovanija & Teusland have never faced the remaining teams in the group at the senior level, however, the names of Electrum and Trolleborg will be recognizable as well: Electrum as a former World Cup winner, and Trolleborg as one of the sides the Goldhorns U18 team faced at Sporting World Cup 9, the two teams faced off in the Round of 16 in Stelburg in a match the Goldhorns won 2-0. Overall, the Goldhorns will play 24 matches during World Cup Qualifiers.

The long schedule means that the Goldhorns will play 12 home matches during the Qualifiers. The Goldhorns will once again travel around the country during the Qualifiers, this time utilizing 5 different stadiums in the campaign. Half of all games will take place at the Nationalstadion (75,000) in Stelburg, 2 games will take place at the Olimpski-Stadion (60,000) in Borograd, 2 games at the Draistadion (60,000) in St. Jakob, and 1 each at the Kaiserhaven-Stadion (40,000) in Kaiserhaven and the Ivo-Balikov-Arena (35,000) in Vlaikograd. The following is the national team’s schedule for qualifiers:

Matchday 1: Bye
Matchday 2: Siovanija & Teusland vs Bolgano, @ Nationalstadion, Stelburg
Matchday 3: Abanhfleft vs Siovanija & Teusland

Matchday 25: Free Republics vs Siovanija & Teusland
Matchday 26: Siovanija & Teusland vs Ethane, @ Nationalstadion, Stelburg

It’s an interesting schedule for the Goldhorns, which sees them play the pot 1 and 3 teams back-to-back at the end of each half of the group stage. You have to think that the matches against Free Republics and Ethane in Stelburg will be absolutely pivotal in the qualification race, as will the away legs. Of course, it’s hard to tell exactly which nations will have strong tournaments, and as always the Goldhorns will have to be at their best in every match. To prepare for the Qualifiers, the STFA have also arranged friendlies with some of the premier nations in world football. Pasarga, Baker Park and Eura will be the trio of opponents for the national team. The Pasarga match will take place in that country, while fellow Baptism of Fire 67 class members Baker Park will visit Borograd, and the world’s number 3 ranked team Eura will visit Stelburg.

The Stelburger Zeitung will have complete coverage of World Cup 85’s Qualifiers as the Goldhorns attempt to make it two qualifications in a row. Come on you Goldhorns!

Manager: Brandon Sonnabend. Recently won the league with Bassabook Old Boys. Can be quick to substitute players out after perceived injuries; his critics say he has some double standards and is less willing to let women potentially play through the pain than men. He is also returning to the (1)-4-5-1 after the strikerless formation went out of style.

More info about the stadiums (from last cycle's BoF).

The parliamentary republic of Zwangzug, an antisocial social democracy, has a long and--dare we say it--checkered history. The original national team competed through World Cup (qualifying campaign)s 33 through 42; a successor team participated in 64 through 69. After a hiatus caused by the country's sudden and devastating retreat into isolationism, a temporary recovery was made, and the national league (the 1./) which had emerged with the second iteration of the NT resumed play. Since World Cup 69, their involvement in the international world has been erratic; they won the 6th Eagle's Cup, and also participated in the seventh and eighth editions. They also participated in the WC80 cycle but were absent for 81, and re-resumed in 82, qualifying for WC83 and 84.

We finally have up-to-date factbooks with information about our players! And some more in-depth biographies!

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, mostly-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense.

Important RP permissions note for WC85: I will be RPing a small-scale epidemic afflicting one of the professional teams in my nation. This storyline will be isolated to a remote area and will not affect the national team or foreign visitors. (ICly, it's probably taking place over a matter of weeks towards the end of qualifiers, while the qualifiers themselves stretch out over months, but I don't really have cohesive timelines.) I do not expect this to infringe on anyone else's RP boundaries, and have cleared it with the users who have personnel affiliated with this team. Though of course, feel free to ignore it (and all my other storylines) if you find it distasteful or merely boring. If you have questions about this, please contact me by telegram or on Discord. Thanks!

The Astograthian National Football Team

Image
All white away, all olive green home, all blue third

Style: -2
Formation: 4-2-3-1, see below for potential variations
Nickname: Olibondeka (The Olives)
Captain: Baleren Narke
Vicecaptain: Indartsu Lekea
Free Kick Taker: Azeari Duarte
Penalty Taker: Yasone Urdanibia

Manager - Image Louis Vaudrail (Sicoutimont) - Age 65
Louis Vaudrail has had a storied managerial career, and in his last job before retirement has been tasked with guiding Astograth into a new World Cup qualifying campaign. Once manager of Nordique Val-Maurice in his homeland of Sicoutimont, Vaudrail's first experience in Astograth was with Gesterlake FC, where a talented squad that included Sicoutian NT forward Georges Allonts took the club to heights never seen before or since, including qualification to the Globe Cup. In the relaunched Astograthian First Division, his success at Athletic Club Olarria landed him the job at the powerful Royal Rumiatzi. In 4 seasons at the club he won a Royal Cup and a long-awaited league title. His recent sacking after two trophyless years has been called premature, but there's no board in the country more demanding than Rumiatzi's.

The Futbol Astograthiko Federazioa (FAF) have thus placed their faith in a foreign manager for the third time in the national team's history, after the successful tenure of World Cup Hall of Famer Powell Pieran, from Civil Citizenry, and the less successful spell of Sir James Handel, from Yesopalitha. Vaudrail's selection has followed a strict line of form and performance above history, though critics have alleged a bias toward his prior clubs Olarria and Rumiatzi. Nevertheless, the squad's defensive core is formed by players from Sporting Iturributa, the seemingly unstoppable side that have won the league for two seasons running.

Vaudrail will most likely line up with a flexible 4-2-3-1 formation, with two defensive midfielders and wingers that can be shifted up or down the pitch as the situation demands. Ranked just 303rd in the multiverse, on par with Sulsuland, Astograth can expect a difficult campaign and, therefore, Vaudrail has decided the best approach will be a conservative, possession-minded approach; if facing opposition against whom possession can't be achieved, then the plan will likely be to fall back into a 4-2-3-1 diamond and play for counter-attacks. If feeling adventurous, the team may change into a standard 4-4-2 or 4-4-2 diamond may be deployed - Vaudrail has called up three forwards and a brilliant centre midfielder in Beltza Urkizo with a mind for this.

Starting XI:

#1 - GK – Aratz Anzizar - Age 34 - Image Sporting Iturributa - 28 caps
Long-time keeper for Sporting Iturributa, voted Best GK of the Astograthian First Division for 5 seasons. Notable for his consistency, aerial command and organisation of the defense, Anzizar has built a club reputation rivaling that of Sporting's Zernin Aira, the greatest keeper in Astograthian history - and is now tasked with taking that to the national team level one last time before international retirement.

#4 - LB - Urre Remondegi - Age 29 - Image Urbizania Wanderers - 10 caps
Three-time best left-back of the First Division, Remondegi first caught the eye playing for Oyardo FC, later making his way to Ituraitz FC. Gorriaka went on to clinch the club's record-breaking ninth league title and the Royal Cup in their centenary year, prompting Wanderers to make a big-money bid for Remondegi. Resilient and dynamic, he's a versatile player that can play from the back, further up the wing or even shifted to central midfield if required.

#2 - CB - Mogel Doyenard - Age 28 – Image Sporting Iturributa - 25 caps, 4 goals
Doyenard is, many argue, the best Astograthian defender currently playing. Now captain of Sporting, he has been consistently voted the best center-back in the league since breaking into the first team, and in a club renowned for producing excellent defenders still manages to astound. Measuring 193 cm, he's a valuable asset for corners.

#18 - CB - Ugaitz Leskerre - Age 29 - Image Lajuno (Eura) - 7 caps
Despite a low public profile, Leskerre has established himself as a squad player in one of the best leagues in the world at Eura's Lajuno, which has a proud tradition of sourcing Astograthian talent. Having also played for Pasarga's Paulinthal FC, Vaudrail is betting on Leskerre's international club experience to complement the domestic-based Doyenard and provide a solid core from which to structure the team's defensive play.

#3 - RB – Cheru Lizarza - Age 27 - Image Sporting Iturributa - 5 caps
Rounding out the defense is Lizarza, a solid if unspectacular full-back that initially came through at Oyardo and then moved to Eshan's Gracemeria, before returning to reinforce the most feared defense in Astograth at Sporting Iturributa. In recent years he has established himself as the best right-back in the league and an easy choice for Vaudrail.

#14 - DM – Indartsu Lekea (VC) - Age 29 - Image AFC Corvistone (Nephara) - 22 caps, 1 goal
Lekea has had a successful career away from Astograthian shores, after departing from Athletic Club Rumiatzi while still a teenager. Previously at Apox's Barbury Town, he is one of two Astograthian players plying his trade in the top-ranked Nepharim league. With his extensive experience outside the country, something generally lacking in the rest of the team, Lekea has Vaudrail's confidence to serve as vice-captain of the team, presumably to captain most matches given that captain Narke is no longer first choice. He'll be expected to be the primary agent in stopping attacks through the middle, backing up Gurina in controlling possession through the middle of the pitch, and generally serving as a mentor to his younger partner.

#6 - DM - Gaitzka Gurina - Age 25 - Image Sporting Iturributa - Uncapped
One of the younger players in a mature squad, Gurina has emerged over the last few years as a real gem of a player for Sporting Iturributa. Originally a player for Ituraitz Victory, Gurina has proven to be dogged in defense and cerebral in attack, and Vaudrail has singled him out as the team's metronome and crucial to the success of the 4-2-3-1 formation. His first team status above the likes of the more established Beltza Urkizo has rankled many in the public, and despite Vaudrail's faith there may be tactical changes in store as the campaign wears on.

#11 - LM - Iraunkor Berdesagar - Age 29 - Image Scaffield (Brenecia) - 9 caps, 3 goals
A product of East Railway's youth system, Berdesagar left the country in search of better opportunities and found it in Brenecia's Gallant Cross. He stuck them through thick and thin, including several years in the second tier, before earning a move to the top-flight Scaffield. Despite stiff competition, Berdesagar has earned himself a starting spot on Olibondeka and hopes to be a serious attacking threat. Capable of playing on the left or right wings or as a central attacking midfielder, Berdesagar has it all to shine on the national team.

#10 - RM – Ihazintu Malkorra - Age 27 - Image Vermillion Wanderers (Nephara) – 5 caps, 1 goal
Malkorra, voted three times best right winger in the First Division, was a youth product of Miners FC before signing with Royal Association and eventually cross-town rivals Sporting Iturributa, emerging as one of Astograth's hottest talents - his dribbling is mesmerising, and can flow freely from center midfield to the back to up on attack as the situation requires. At his peak and newly transferred to the Nepharim league, Malkorra looks forward to show what he can do.

#8 - AM – Azeari Duarte - Age 30 - Image Royal Rumiatzi – 10 caps, 3 goals
Duarte is widely recognised as the best creative player in the Astograthian league and chief architect of Royal Rumiatzi's successes over the past decade. Over the years he has demonstrated immense vision in providing assists and occasionally get himself on the scoresheet as well; partnering with Urdanibia at club and international level will surely be a bonus. Nevertheless, his backup Sorrosua has been in better form over the last season. This along with some clashes with manager Vaudrail in their time together at Rumiatzi may put his starting position in jeopardy, but for the time being he'll start.

#9 - CF - Yasone Urdanibia - Age 32 - Image Royal Rumiatzi - 19 caps, 9 goals
A six-time First Division top scorer, Urdanibia originally came through the youth system of Rumiatzi 529 and got his first big-time opportunity with Oyardo FC. After scoring 19 goals in 24 matches in the first season of the reinaugurated First Division, he was quickly snapped up by Royal Rumiatzi and, despite a rocky start, has established himself as the league's premier striker and the best local forward of his generation. Relies on the midfield to set up his chances, but is absolutely lethal with his feet and head - and looking to make his mark with Olibondeka before the years pass him by.

Substitutes:

#13 - GK – Gentza Bedigax - Age 29 - Image FC Felsenkirchen 1879 (Siovanija and Teusland) - 4 caps
Bedigax initially impressed the First Division by being one of the reasons that the unfancied Erribe United remained in the top flight during their début season, and continued that form at Urbizania Wanderers by winning the league and consistently being one of the least-beaten keepers in the competition. Now transferred for one of Siovanija and Teusland's top teams, he has already proven himself a capable replacement for Anzizar in prior call-ups and will be looking to establish himself as the logical successor.

#23 - GK – Aurre Laurnagaray - Age 26 - Image Athletic Club Olarria - Uncapped
Most expected the third-choice keeper to be Ituraitz FC's Bihar Raldua, but Olarria's Aurre Laurnegaray has earned himself a call-up through strong form in being one of the least-beaten goalkeepers of the last season. As younger brother of Sporting's forward Egoitz, the Laurnagarays are the first pair of brothers to be called up to the national team, and Aurre will be looking for any slip-up by Anzizar and Bedigax to further stake his claim.

#19 - LB – Marko Martel - Age 22 – Image Athletic Club Olarria - Uncapped
Martel, the youngest player on the squad, was a last-minute inclusion that bumped off the more conventionally expected Musko Uriel. A strong season for Olarria earned him a place on the famous Galáctico's shortlist, which sent ripples across Astograth and certainly played a part in Vaudrail's decision. Martel has much to do to settle into the national team, but will take any chance to keep climbing and perhaps show himself as a good purchase for more powerful clubs.

#12 - CB - Selatse Yrigoy - Age 31 - Image Royal Rumiatzi - Uncapped
Long considered a workhorse but not especially good, Yrigoy has shown himself in the last couple of seasons to have been severely underrated. Picking up the slack for an offensively-focused Rumiatzi, Yrigoy has earned the respect and admiration of the fans and Vaudrail, enough to be a valuable replacement in a highly competitive position.

#5 - CB – Baleren Narke (C) - Age 33 – Image Ituraitz FC - 38 caps, 1 goal
Captain and one-club man for Ituraitz FC, Narke led the club to its best period in over twenty years, winning two consecutive league titles - the second of them a double during their centenary. Square-jawed and muscular, Narke is an expert at keeping his defense in line and skilled at managing dressing room drama. The sole representative of Ituraitz FC given their current poor form, he'll be sitting on the bench but can be relied upon to tighten up the defense at any time.

#16 - RB – Ixaka Echeberz - Age 26 - Image Urbizania Wanderers - Uncapped
There is a relative dearth of quality at right-back at the moment, so Vaudrail's choices have been rather straightforward for this call-up. Nevertheless, Echeberz is a solid, reliable player who can stay in defense or move forward into a more modern wing-back role. Does his job well for Wanderers, and for Sporting Arkamo and Ituraitz Victory before them.

#15 - CM – Beltza Urkizo - Age 30 - Image Iturributa United - Uncapped
Urkizo is certainly the best centre midfielder in Astograth, one-time First Division Player of the Season and the beating heart of Iturributa United for nearly ten years, but he doesn't fit into Vaudrail's formation. Too attacking for defensive midfield, too defensive for attacking midfield, Urkizo would be right at home in a 4-4-2 or United's bold 4-3-1-2, but his current status as bench player has created some resentment among the public and the dressing room.

#17 - LM - Koldo Ibargengoitia - Age 26 - Image Usmer (Eura) - Uncapped
An exciting winger who can be played out wide, made to cut inside or, in a pinch, deployed in centre midfield. Capable of scoring but far better as a creative outlet. Just signed for Eura's Usmer after dazzling at Oyardo FC, Astograth University and Ituraitz FC, but yet to prove himself worthy of the storied #11 shirt of Astograthian left wingers.

#21 - RM - Churio Aragolaza - Age 27 - Image Urbizania Wanderers - Uncapped
A rare attacking-minded product of Blue Mountain Range's academy, Aragolaza has proven himself a dependable threat on Wanderers' right flank. Though often overshadowed by Jê Çìró on the left, Aragolaza is a cunning player that can sneak through the defense's channels and show up to score from unexpected places. His partnership with Sorrosua is one of Wanderers' highlights, which Vaudrail may try to replicate.

#22 - AM - Gero Sorrosua - Age 30 - Image Urbizania Wanderers - Uncapped
Once hyped as the next big thing, Sorrosua was on a meteoric rise from Gesterlake FC to Sporting Iturributa. He spent a single season there, winning the title but spending most of it on the sidelines injured or having little do on the pitch. Sorrosua was quickly branded a flop and offloaded to Basabe Old Boys. He's carried that stigma since then but slowly worked his way back to the top, earning a move to Urbizania Wanderers and finally living up to the hype by establishing himself as a top-class playmaker, and many argue he should be first choice ahead of Duarte.

#20 - CF - Yokin Arana - Age 26 - Image Iturributa United - Uncapped
Iturributa United is a well-oiled goalscoring machine, and a key component in the last few years has been their homegrown striker Yokin Arana. Despite not being a physical player he is quite capable of finding space in tight defenses, and is notable for seeing beyond his own boots and playing smart assists rather than going for goal himself. An interesting variant at Vaudrail's disposal.

#7 - CF – Egoitz Laurnagaray - Age 31 - Image Sporting Iturributa - 41 caps, 15 goals
Laurnagaray lacks flair and showmanship, and doesn't score nearly as much as Urdanibia, but his value lies in his reliability and the capacity to spin gold out of whatever he's handed. If the rest of the team is struggling and possession is scant, Laurnagaray can be an option to change up the attack and make chances count.

THE KINGDOM OF ERAMAN
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

BASIC INFORMATION
Nation: The Kingdom of Eraman
Demonym: Eramanian
Style Modifier: 2
Formation: 4-1-2-3 DM Wide

Head Coach: Tun Sengalang Petara
Tun Sengalang Petara is the prime minister of Eraman, president of Eraman Football Association, chairman of Royal Daulapura Football Club and arguably the richest man in Melayu Archipelago. As you think the CV couldn't get any longer, he has now appointed himself as the national team head coach.

Tun Sengalang Petara took over as the head coach half-way through the last World Cup qualifying campaign and notched back-to-back victory straight away but failed to qualify after a defeat in the final match. He prefers his team to play with an attacking mindset and high pressing intensity. A long ball from the center back into empty space to find the quick trio upfront is his favourite play.

GOALKEEPER
GK: Dundang Bayan, 33, Royal Arupura
The veteran Royal Arupura goalkeeper is back to don the national team number 1 jersey after 4 years absence. He is widely acknowledged as the best goalkeeper in the country but was dropped from the national team due to a dispute with the national football association. With no domestic football for a season, Tun Sengalang Petara had no choice but to re-call Dundang Bayan and some of the best footballers in the country he banned 4 years ago.

Bench:
GK, Yuyi Dunya, 25, Royal Cittapura
GK, Mikla Kala, 24, Royal Daulapura

DEFENDERS
DR: Lipas Kudung, 27, Royal Puncakpura
Lipas Kudung is a modern full-back who loves to gets up and down the pitch for 90 minutes. His speed and ability to cross the ball is his main assets. Very good going forward but can be susceptible at the back. His eagerness to get forward sometimes left the back open.

DL: Cicak Kudung, 27, Royal Puncakpura
Cicak Kudung is Lipas Kudung's twin brother. The abilities and playing style of Lipas and Cicak is as identical as their face. The only downpoint of it is they are both right-footed. Cicak Kudung always supports the attack down the left flank but frequently had to cut in onto his favoured right foot to hoist crosses into the box.

DC: Badang Gangsa, 32, Anara (Vice Captain)
The Anara captain has shown his leadership qualities after leading his club side to a back-to-back league title. The center back was nicknamed Gorilla for his strength and aerial prowess. With promising young centre back emerging around the country, this is probably going to be the last time Badang lead the back four.

DC: Anton Mora, 24, Royal Daulapura
The mass exodus of national team players from Royal Daulapura 4 years ago forced the club to rely on foreign players and youngsters. One of the youngsters who benefited from the incident is Anton Mora. He stepped up to the first team with flying colours. Composed and plays defence breaking long ball often.

Bench
DR, Feleti Arshis, 29, Damaisari
DL, Waka Sentri, 32, Royal Daulapura
DC, Isileli Hiva, 31, Damaisari
DC, Mahar Mina, 24, Royal Daulapura

MIDFIELDERS
DMC: Putra Daulapura Suara Petara, 30, Damaisari (Captain)
The national team will be led in the midfield by the prince of Eraman himself. The third son of Maharaja Nila Petara caused half of the national team to be banned with his transfer move from his uncle's club, Royal Daulapura to Damaisari on a free transfer. In retaliation, his uncle who is now the national team head coach banned him and his teammates from the national team. Left with no choice or better players, Tun Sengalang Petara decided to lift the ban and Suara Petara is now back with the captain armband after 4 years.

MC: Rimau Belang, 30, Royal Puncakpura
Rimau Belang is another domestic club captain in the national team. He led Royal Puncakpura to various championships in the past. Rimau Belang is deployed as defending midfielder for his club but is expected to play in a more advanced role for the national team.

MC: Mano Bosa, 32, Anara
The veteran playmaker will be the main creative outlet for Eraman. The attack-minded center midfield has the most impressive passing range and passing accuracy in Liga Eraman for the past few seasons and is very deadly in dead-ball situation. He is expected to be responsible for corner kicks, free kicks as well as penalty kicks.

Bench:
DMC, Kinta Biru, 24, Royal Daulapura
MC, Milo Kaulawi, 22, Royal Daulapura
MC, Karipa Senawang, 23, Royal Daulapura

FORWARD
AMR: Kilat Saputra, 28, Anara
Kilat Saputra formed a deadly attack for Anara in the league alongside his twin brother Kudrat Saputra. His main ability is his pace. His speed will keep his opponents afraid as he is able to beat defenders in a footrace.

AML: Kudrat Saputra, 28, Anara
Kudrat Saputra, much like his twin brother is very quick. The left inside forward will use his pace and flair on the ball to beat opponents and create scoring opportunities. Very hard-working and have an eye for goal.

ST: Buisan Buayan, 32 y/o, Damaisari
Buisan Buayan will be the focal point of Eraman's attack. He has shown a surprising amount of upper-body strength in the league which allowed him to shove defenders aside, creating room for him to show his skills and make things happen. He also has the ability to get into a great goalscoring position with his movement.

BENCH
AMR, Perda Nasar, 23, Royal Daulapura
AML, Era Hitam, 20, Royal Daulapura
ST, Putra Daulapura Wikra Petara, 20, Center For Excellence - Apox

Fujai (fu:'jaɪ, foo-yEYE) is a small archipelagic nation of just over 7 million residents, located in the north of the Polarii continent in The West Pacific. While it has a long history of domestic football, it never has been a substantial player on the international scale. The Independents' Cup 8 was Fujai's first international football competition, where the Landslag made it to the Round of 16 before being knocked by Drawkland out in a high pitched match ending 5-4 AET. In the short time since then, the team has made it to the Round of 16 at the Baptism of Fire 71, played in its first World Cup Qualifiers, and returned for IAC 9.

The Landslag is made up of the finest players in Fujai, though few would be considered of truly international quality. It is sponsored by Fujais Fotbollforbund (FjFF), a member of Fujais Idrottsforbund (Fujansk Sports Union). Most Landslag players come from Fujai's top league, Fyrstserien, though a few come from the second division, Annarserien, and one comes from a university team. While Fujansk clubs are more equal in skill than the average league, the four most dominant teams, the Store Fyra, are Solbakken IL and Bruland IF from the capital of Keiserholde, Trondsnes FF from Strafsund, and Almoren IL from Almoren in the north.

Fujais Idrottsforbund is the federation of labor unions representing all sports players and workers in sports-associated industries. It is separate from the Fujansk government, but receives accreditation and financial and infrastructural support from it through the Kulturdirektarat of the Kulturministerjon. Its structure includes clubs at the local level (e.g. a local sports club), which are constituents of fylke organizations, which are a part of the larger federation representing specific sports (e.g. Fujais Fotbollforbund for football), which are then members of FIF. FIF is a member of the Rhodoniad and OCTWPUS (Olympic Council of The West Pacific Union of Sports), and is Fujai's representative to the Olympic Council.

Fujais Fotbollforbund is the governing labor union of football in Fujai and represents all players, related workers, and clubs in the country. It governs Fujai's league system, consisting of Fyrstserien, Annarserien, Tredjeserien, and the landsdel leagues. Fylke leagues and lower are organized by the the fylke organizations.

Editor's note on gender: Fujansk culture historically recognizes 4 main genders, though in the last century, gender has been used as a continuum without specific categories (though there are some general categories of expression). Since the Fujansk language does not have gendered pronouns, most Fujar choose choose to use gender-neutral pronouns, such as they/them when interacting in the common tongue. All players on the Landslag use they/them pronouns.

Translator's note: Landslaget translates to "The National Team," while Landslag translates to "National Team." In the common tongue, one would say "the Landslag did well" or "Landslaget did well," not "the Landslaget did well." This is because the Fujansk language uses suffixes to create definite nouns instead of articles. See Den Fujanske Ordboken (The Fujansk Dictionary) for more information.

Team Info

Basic info:
  • Preferred formation: 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-3
  • Style mod: +2.2
  • Home stadium: Nykanalstadion, Keiserholde (cap. 48,300 (34,680 standing, 13,620 seated))
Known commonly as Nykanalen, the stadium is located in Nykanalparken, a park built on the former fortifications that surround Keiserholde's city center. Nykanalen is the largest stadium in the nation, and serves as the home stadium for the Landslag. Like most stadiums in Fujai, it includes large standing areas to increase capacity, lower costs, and help people stay warm by standing instead of sitting in the country's famously cold weather. Nykanalen also recently hosted the second edition of the FFI Liga dos Vencedores.
  • Managers: Systa Hendsal, Iren Sattar
  • Coaches: Eirdis Overby, Lasse Lillegård
Players to watch:
  • Arin Salberg - Captain and star striker of Solbakken IL, one of the winningest teams in recent Fujansk history—has led the team in scores at every competition.
  • Solfrid Hellem - Shadow striker, them and Salberg have made a daring duo the past two years of being together on the national team
  • Erna Höss - A star from Annarserien's Hal Stor IK, until this year they were only starter from the second division, but two high profile relegations meant they were joined by many others.
  • Anton Felland - A master of footwork, they can take the ball even from the most experienced players if given the chance

South Newlandia finally announces roster for World Cup Qualifiers

After a rather successful Baptism of Fire, South Newlandia announced their squad as well as the venues for the home games. The 85th world cup is the first one with South Newlandia participating, and we will see some changes in the squad compared to the Baptism of Fire.

Obviously, there is a lot of stuff to discuss about this roster. In total, 6 new players in the squad replace 6 BoF-Players. Let’s start with the goalkeepers, and work our way up.

Robert Wolverine trusts in the same goalkeepers that went to the Baptism of Fire. Mikhail Trischuk, who played most of the games, also remains the captain, and Rufus Rigby is still the main replacement.

We see a lot more changes in defense. Left to Right, Dhruv Roy got to keep his start, and Jack Schroeder got to keep his start as well. Tommy Anderson managed to receive the start as Right Center Back after just being a sub in the BoF. He used his opportunities well, and Robert Wolverine started him in most of the later games. We see a completely unfamiliar face on the Right Back-Position, Raphael Moreno. The 29-year-old was injured during the Baptism of Fire, and had to watch from home. As the other Right-Backs didn’t do their jobs great, he gets to have a start now.

On the bench, Marcos Pit replaces Simon Taylor as main replacement for Roy. Taylor did not play a great BoF, and will not play in the World Cup Qualifiers. Karl Meyer did not keep his start, but he is still in the squad as a substitute. He will try his best to get his start back. We see another new face here; as Manuel O’Neill made the squad as a substitute, replacing Jeff Peterson. The O’Neill will be the oldest player of the squad at 30 years old. The defenders are concluded with Barnaby Hastings, who got to keep his place in the team even after a bad BoF.

Moving on to midfield, we see that Kevin Mohamed is the official starter as DM, replacing Johan Dorsey. Mohamed already played most games in the BoF, so this wasn’t a big surprise. Otherwise, we see the same starters that played in the Baptism of Fire; Corban Green, Patrick McMora, and Finnley Wallis.

On the bench, Faisal Harworth and Donald Lancaster remain in the team, and are joined by two new players. Jarod Stuart and Abdurahman Bishop get a place in the squad, while Johan Dorsey and Randall Kennedy are not in the selection this time.

On offense, we see one completely new player in the starters. Simon McCabe surprisingly made the jump after not being considered for the BoF at all. Brandon Irving also got the start, but that wasn’t a big surprise. He was the best striker in the BoF, scoring three goals in just 5 full games.

On the bench, Bjorn Cohen is still weakened after his injury in the Baptism of Fire, but he might play in one of the later games. Ricardo Rayner lost his start after a mediocre BoF, but at least kept his slot in the team, while Liam Miller won’t be back.

Venues

South Newlandia has announced 5 stadiums for 12 home games in the World Cup Qualifiers. It will be the first time international soccer will be played on South Newlandian ground, so we hope you have a great experience. In general, South Newlandia is a rather large island of about 4 million people. Their sporting history consists of a Round of Sixteen appearance in the WBC48 and a Quarterfinal appearance in the BoF72.

Elephant Dome (21.500 seats)
Elephant Valley, just a bit away from the western coast of South Newlandia, is not only the capital, but also the economic and cultural heart of South Newlandia. The Elephant Dome is the biggest stadium, will host four of the games. The stadium is right in the middle of the Elephant Valley, and seats a bit over 20 thousand people. The games against Valanora, Pasarga, Juvencus and Eraman will be played here.

Jecken Arena (16.250)
It is unusual for stadiums to be sponsored in South Newlandia, but the stadium of Newport, right on the East Coast of South Newlandia, is sponsored by a well-known foreign food company. The stadium is the second-biggest in South Newlandia, and will host both the first South Newlandian game, and their last one in the qualifiers. Specifically, the games against Tamgu and Mavinet will be played here.

Walstreim City Stadium (13.000)
Walstreim is one of the smaller South Newlandian cities, located on the Southeast. The most interesting fact about Walstreim is being voted “Most Boring City” the last three times straight. The games against Bliuji and Kuriko will be played here.

Coast Stadium (10.200)
Elephant Town is right next to Elephant Valley, although it is much smaller. Located right on the coast, the stadium is one of the smaller ones in South Newlandia. The matches against Plane of Possibility and Pangurstan will be played here.

Kinjestad Soccer Arena (9.000)
Kinjestad is the biggest city outside of the mainland, located on one of the Southwestern islands off of the South Newlandian Coast. Kinjestad is, right after South Newlandia, the place with the most tourists of South Newlandia. The city will host the games against Ottoman Syldavia and The Kitler Peninsulae.
