Well things are extremly centralized in a number of MegaCorps now.

Ten years ago the Internet used to be a lot more decentralized in structure.

I'd argue that in many ways the internet was very nearly as centralized then, with the likes of Yahoo and AOL in place of today's Google and Facebook.

Its not comparable. Yahoo hadn nearly as much clout as Google or Social Media do nowadays. I remember those times. Basically there were a few big ones and much, much more communities and websites like NationStates.

NationStates is basically a relic from those old times.

I'm a super far leftwing communist-libertarian. (Luxury goods and vacation packages should be the only commercialized services). I have never met anyone not call me an idealist. However, I am a militant (ento)vegan as well and identify very strongly with the Party for Animals.

Well, I identify as a democratic socialist and occasionally a libertarian socialist, and my worldview borrows some elements from Trotskyist and anarcho-syndicalist thought. I support direct democracy - decisions should be made by the people whom they will affect. I prefer worker-owned cooperatives to other forms of enterprise, and my economic views essentially come from extending my support of direct democracy as a form of governance to the economy as well. I don't know if I am far-left or just left-wing, although I'm definitely not as far-left as some of the other people on this site.

How is it possible to be a socialist and a libertarian? That's like democratic autocracy.

That's a question us libertarian socialists get a lot.

To use Dictionary.com's detailed definition, which is close to how I define socialism: "a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole."

Shifting control of the means of production to the community isn't just compatible with libertarianism - in fact, if your goal is maximal freedom, it's actually more beneficial for the means of production to be collectively owned and democratically organized than it is for the means of production to be consolidated in the hands of a lucky few.

TL;DR - Libertarianism doesn't necessarily mean the full American definition, it just means liberty.

I'm a left-wing libertarian. I'm for secularism and humanism. My two biggest issues are that climate change is a menace that requires mass mobilization and strict rent control should be enacted.

That's a really good question that I don't actually know the answer to. Let's just go with center-left with a sprinkle of some right-wing beliefs (or at least traditionally right wing....wait, is being straight edge right wing? conservatives definitely drink....)

I guess I'm at that point where it's better to ask me about my opinion on a specific issue rather than use a label, because on the surface I probably look like a typical non-hardcore liberal, what with my desire to conserve the environment and acceptance of LGB, but then you realize I'm somewhat of a nationalist and you're hearing this song blasting from my Ford F-150. Yee yee.

My views generally align to the Progress Party of Norway, though they have in recent years moved into a more moderate direction which I don't particularly support.

Then in what way would you consider yourself right wing?

As toward the topic at hand, I identify as an Eco-Socialist. I care about the environment in a way that could occasionally be considered extremist, but I also care about social issues and providing a strong support system so that, when people are having a hard time, they don't have to sleep on the streets or starve. I care about combating those social situations in an environmentally-sustainable fashion that will put humanity in balance with the world around us, so that we're not ultimately moving ourselves and most of the creatures on the planet toward extinction.

I am a general leftist, and if I had to adopt a label it would probably be democratic socialism.

I consider most leftists to be ideologically aligned with me, and I consider some moderates to be allies to the left.

My current top ideological allies are:

Leftist: democratic socialism, libertarian socialism (like anarcho-communism), spiritual/religious leftism (like Christian Socialism), radical leftism, green politics, and pirate politics

Moderate: social democracy, georgism, distributism, non-neoliberal progressive liberalism, and radical centrism

If reading this post when it first is posted, I should have a RL Politics page linked in my signature that has all that information as well as the results of numerous political spectrum/compass/ideology/party quizzes.

While I find both labels and the left-right spectrum quite reductive, I suppose I would classify myself as an adherent of communization theory, although I bear influences from a wide range of thinkers.

An eco-socialist, but with democratic socialist characteristics thrown in there. I support a regulated economy, strong protections on the environment, free universal healthcare and other stuff like that, equal rights for everyone regardless of race, gender, ethnicity or orientation and also internationalism.
Pro: Environmentalism, Eco-Socialism, Democratic Socialism, Left-libertarianism, Luxemburgism, Progressivism, Choice, LGTBQ+ rights, Bernie Sanders, Secularism, Democratic and Secular Two-State Solution, Alter-Globalization.
Anti: Conservatism, "TERF" movement, Fascism, Stalinism, Totalitarianism, Laissez-faire capitalism, Anarcho-Capitalism, Trump, Religious Fundamentalism, Ultranationalism, Identity Politics, Islam

Left-wing libertarian. I support extensive individual liberties (including the right to nudity), but also support egalitarianism, because life isn't equally fair/unfair, everyone should matter the same and have a shot at life. I support republics over monarchies, because I cannot stand Spanish hereditary gossip girls. I despise tradition and think that everyone should chose his tradition or lack thereof/it should not be forced upon me. I oppose intellectual property (i.e patents and copyright) since everyone should be free to copy and improve concepts and believe in privacy rights and full government transparency. I fancy direct democracy and federalism. I'm a cosmopolitan and think that all nations, borders and trade restrictions are obsolete (I never felt attached to my nation aside from the financial aspect). I support Esperanto as a global lingua franca, because it is simple, conserves native languages and doesn't favour any culture over another. I believe public education and healthcare are essential for a functioning society and that an advanced civilisation must have a sustainable economy.

This poll reminds me of a quote attributed to Winston Churchill . . . .

"A woman is only a woman, but a good Cigar is a Smoke." -- Kipling
