Apparently two days. You're proving my point though that there was no cover-up of Kim Jong-il's death. No one knew he was dead outside of the country, and after the government spent the day of his death and the day after thinking about how they would release that information and announce Kim Jong-un as a successor, they put it across state media.

Sorry, but I've seen the video in question. He's never in the same shot as the crowd and there's nothing to suggest it was shot recently. NK is perfectly capable of faking this kind of thing. They're a police state that specializes in propaganda.

Plus, he looked a little off in it too. Like he wasn't feeling well. His movement and behavior was abnormal for someone who is supposedly in good health. Until they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt he's perfectly fine I'm going to remain skeptical.

There are people with masks in the same shot as him. Look more closely.

Also, you're saying that it wasn't him in his first video and that it was in his second. It is more likely that he is not in perfect health; he is most definitely obese and diabetic.

Kim Jong-un is alive beyond a reasonable doubt. I still find it pretty mind-boggling that people have extreme suspicion of statements by the ROK, the DPRK, and America that he is alive, and also of official photographic and video evidence that he is alive, when in the first case there was absolutely no kind of proof that he was ever dead or even unwell.

These things are not in and of themselves against the principles of good governance. In fact, in the North Korean political context, assuming she has enough force of will, she may be able to rule in the event Mr. Kim is no longer able to do so... until a future male heir come of age basically.

Regardless of whether or not you trust their government, a lot of information on the DPRK is freely available if you just bother to look it up, and there are people who study and do reporting on it for a living.

Virtually no information is freely available, North Korea doesn't share and doesn't tell aside from clean scrubbed propaganda. The people who report of North Korea do a lot of fucking hard work but still, why the hell do you think everyone thought he was definitely dead the last few weeks?

Not all information on the DPRK has to be solely consumed through accepting state propaganda. There is satellite imagery, intelligence, common testimonies from defectors, information released by state media on things they wouldn't lie about, analyses of prices in black/gray markets, analyses of state media, and so on.

No one who actually studies the DPRK believed he was dead. Neither did the ROK, which conducts the most intelligence regarding the DPRK and is actually the source of a lot of scoops regarding the DPRK for Western media. Instead, there was heavy criticism from Western Korea experts and ROK liberals regarding the rumors.

TMZ and a bunch of people who couldn't point out Korea on a map do not count as "everyone."

Also, I think we can infer that a lot if what the NK propaganda machine has been saying has had her input. Look at this from Wikipedia:
