It's unfortunate that the lifting of protective measures is likely to make those places in a rush to 'get back to work as a nation' those who will have the longest lasting and most economically damaging effects. Not to mention the massive body count, although a disturbing number of people don't seem to even consider that in the calculations.

People rushing in droves to the stores for Jordans proves to me we just need more restrictions for people to actually remain safe. Some people are too stupid with their freedoms and need them restricted.

Some parishes have seen rises in cases, in Louisiana, but it seems our latest spike of 700 cases in one day was due to positive cases being released from a backlog of several weeks. I imagine state-testing is to blame.

It won't cut profits for them to shorten hours, not with the kinda money they're making on Air Jordans. Wearing a mask does help to some extent. It does prevent you from breathing on other people and transmitting the virus. When I had pneumonia in November, I had to wear a mask to go out. Not because I could catch things from other people, but because I could get others ill. (Though I very well could have caught something.)

Since you so desperately want to Broadway open and things like that, shouldn't you support any measures that would limit the spread of disease, the better to allow that?

Like, if every business was open as normal, but people had to wear some kind of facemask, would you be screaming that this will surely destroy the economy and make Ben Franklin's ghost shit his ghost pants?

Hopefully even if the vaccinations only last four months or so for immunity a massive, free and mandatory (except for those who are unable to, obviously) roll-out of vaccinations might be able to eradicate the virus in a way similar to smallpox.

That might be asking a bit much though.

I think it's also worth noting that containing a viral outbreak is not the same as eradicating the virus. Smallpox is extinct in the wild as far as anyone knows. When people talk about SARS being "gone," that doesn't mean it's extinct. I'm still here, just have been spending some quality time with my cats.

i mean, swallowing republican lies about this contagion and the response to it is no good look on them, and so is their revulsion against slightly anything leftist or civic-minded as well as their disdain for collective responsibility as a counterpart for rights in general, the logical conclusion of a libertarianism that does not care about the corruption of all spheres of human activity other than the individual, so long as the individual is free to do as he wishes -- but really, when your welfare state is so threadbare to begin with, and what aid your government has agreed to dole out is so minuscule and/or tied up in vagueness, is there any wonder people are out protesting?

We Republicans and Pro Trumpers have a different view than the Democrats on Trump for obvious political reasons, just like the Democrats and anti Trumpers have a different view on Trump for their own obvious political reasons. I think most of the Protestors are Republicans and Pro Trump.

I think they do care, but they also care about their financial needs, this is the problem, we are damned if we do and damned if we don't and vice versa. Their financial needs and social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands are also necessary and I think are still part of the virus recovery laws of the Governors gradually trying to open their states economies.
