For the cold causing Corona virus immunity last typically 2-4 months. If this is like that we maybe just have to accept this circulating indefinitely. A new small pox if you would.
At the other end of the scale, people are still immune to SARS. Also, repeated exposure to a virus while immune tends to increase the immunity period. Between the two, there is some reason to be optimistic.
