Ohino Sets an Election Date for UoD Election and Referendum

Postby Ohino » Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:54 pm

Ohino Sets an Election Date for Union of Democrats Election and Presidential Referendum

OPOLIS, OCD, OHINO - "Today will start a new decade of Democracy in Ohino as we move away from a Monarch and more to a democratic society." Those where the worlds the queen said as she then signed the document setting the Election date for May 2nd for the Union of Democrats Parliamentary Election for both houses and the new constitutional referendum slated for the same day. With the worrys of the Coronavirus going around. This will be the first election that is done almost 100% by mail as people will have the option of turning in there ballots via the Postal Service or turn it in at their neighborhood drive by ballot box. This has never been done before for such a large election.

The Union of Democrats election will decide the 50 Seats Ohino has in the lower house including the 1 seat which is in the upper house. The rules that are established for the Lower House will be done by proportional representation as people will then decide their favorite political parties to represent them. Parties must get 5% of the vote in order to get a seat on the lower house. In the Upper House its going to be a two person race between the Liberal Party Governor of Gordon Brian Comeck and Conservative Leader in the Mako State House Ralo Dane. Polls show Comeck in the lead with an advantage of 4%.

The Referendum is one of the hottest things on the ballot and it is a proposed constitutional amendment to get rid of the Crown Branch of Government and replace it with the Executive Branch and weakening the Prime Minister's Power as an executive figure and making the minster more of a Legislative leader. Prime Minister Haru Mataki has tried to talk to the Queen against this proposal but it hasn't changed her mind along with the Legislature which overwhelmingly approved the proposal. It also establishes rules on how the president is elected instead of a direct vote. Because the President's job is to represent all of Ohinoans, in an election, they have to try and win over more land then people to win. The people will vote on election day and based on the results, 2 bound delegates are given to the winner of the state and the proportional delegates get split based on the margin of victory of each state. Each state have delegates split by population plus 2. Then all of the Delegates will then gather in Opolis and then vote accordingly. Who ever wins a majority of the Delegate count wins the election.

The Prime Minster has said as a response. "If this referendum passes, I will run for the Presidency to keep the plan I had for Ohino going forward."

But Conservative leader Lucy Kendent said that the Prime Minister is just trying to keep her power. If this referendum passes, she believes she can run for President of Ohino and become the first Conservative to win nationwide in Ohino in years. "The stars are aligning for a victory for right leaning parties across Ohino as I have found a way to unite our people and reach out to people like never before."

The First Election will happen May 2nd.

La Boca on fire

Postby Republic of La Boca » Wed Apr 22, 2020 10:39 am

"Corona-Inflation" in Republic of La Boca"

-QUILMES, Republic of La Boca.- Along with the political instability, the excessive growth of inflation and the massive wave of job layoffs, the coronavirus crisis in the Republic of La Boca is added.

The Minister of Economy, Marcos Lousteau Allo, together with the Popular Institute for Inflation and Unemployment, announced that inflation so far this year is 172.7% and that the unemployment rate is 23.4% .
Beyond all this statistics, the National Government showed that it did not feel concerned about the situation, arguing that "it will pass", as Prime Minister Germán Enrique Repetto publicly expressed for a local radio program.

The Communist Party of Republic of La Boca, main opponent of the current government, denounced that an adjustment plan against the middle classes is underway.
Thousands of people have already bypassed the quarantine and organized "blocks" in protest against the government's measures.

Others, have called for the return of the military to power.

UoD already convoked the Council of Nations for tomorrow at 12 pm (UTC-3)

State of New Wolfassia Demands Independence from Ohino

Postby Ohino » Mon Apr 27, 2020 11:39 am

State of New Wolfassia Demands Independence from Ohino

BORA, NEW WOLFASSIA, OHINO: Today, citizens from around the state of New Wolfassia protested at the state capital to demand for an independence referendum from the national government.

"The Ohino government doesn't listen to our voices anymore. We are possibly the most different state out of all of the Ohinoian states that make this union but the way that the rest of the country votes doesn't align with New Wolfassia's values." says leader of the protest and the Social State Communist Party leader Felken Damon.

"New Wolfassians across this great state demand higher nationalism in government for their state and not for their federal government. Wolfassans deserve independence and not more control." says Nationalist Party Leader Randell Kenyon.

Both the Social Communist Party and the Nationalist Party of New Wolfassia have united to support the movement to leave Ohino and become an independent country. But the federal government has resisted the people's demands on the offer.

"New Wolfassia doesn't make a lot of money in order to support themselves. The Ohino government is listening to them, but their demands are outrageous and are against the federal government guidelines." says Attorney General Keith Brakester.

There has always been a divide between Opolis and Bora. New Wolfassia joined Ohino as a state in 1993 when the country of Wolfassia went into disorder and it was an agreement between the Ohino government and the people to protect them as the civil war was waging. When a government was set up in 1995 their first election started with the newly formed Communist Party and National Party becoming the 2 largest parties there but unable to grow anywhere else in the country. As the years went by, Ohinoians looking for work moved into the state on the north side mostly voting for more known parties like Liberals or Conservatives for the legislature causing the Communitist and Nationalist to lost big in the 2000 election where even though a Communist was elected governor, the legislature had a sudden shift to more conservative parties. As locals preferred anti-establishment candidates, the New Wolfassian Government tried their best to suppress the vote in the north of the state near Lake Arol. The Supreme Court of Ohino then started fighting the state striking down law after laws considered as suppressing voter turnout having the result of Elections being recalled. This has caused the people of the state who are majority Wolfassian to beleive that the government of Ohino is micromanaging and is making sure that the people they elected can't govern.

There is also a worry in Opolis that if New Wolfassians become an independent state then they would ether be a fascist or communist state that borders Ohino and at the same time controls a part of Lake Arol.

The amount of hate crimes against Ohinians and Wazekians in the north side has not helped the situation eather as the federal govenment has stepped in to New Wolfassian politics many times to make sure it is fair for everyone.

"Ohino can't tell our state what to do, we are an independent state just like the rest!" said one of the protesters.

The Communist Governor Danken Sowics is currently negotiating a plan with the Ohino government on the matter but they hope to come to a consensus soon.

Today's Menu: Scrambled Army

Today at noon (UTC-3), the Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of La Boca declared that they "will revolt" until there is a strategy to stop the serious economic and social crisis that the country has been going through since last year.
The Chief of the Forces declared that, if necessary, "they will take the reins of the country" in the following days.
A private pollster conducted a survey on the popularity of the Prime Minister and other politicians.
The Prime Minister has only 8% popularity (30,000 people at least).
The most popular politician in the country is President Juan Eduardo Espíndola, with 96.78% approval.
They were also consulted on the measures taken by the Minister of Health to counteract the effects of the coronavirus, and they have 99% approval.

Camouflage Green Ultimatum

Postby Republic of La Boca » Wed Apr 29, 2020 9:17 am

The military rebels for two days have warned the government of Germán Enrique Repetto, that they must take over the government in the following days, if it is possible to appease the country.
Inflation is expected to continue to rise, along with unemployment.
Meanwhile, the Government has not taken economic measures in this regard. Close sources affirm that the government will take adjustment measures and devalue the currency.
Banging of pots and pans (known as "cacerolazos" in Spanish) were held across the country last night, demanding Repetto's soon resignation and the action of the military.

Negotiations Continue, Queen Suggest them to be paused.

Postby Ohino » Thu Apr 30, 2020 9:24 pm

New Wolfassia Negotiations Continue, Ohino Queen Grace Hunter suggest Pause on talks until May 3rd referendum goes through.

BORA, NEW WOLFASSIA, OHINO: Negotiations between the New Wolfassia and Federal Government where interrupted by the Queen who has detemined that the negotiations should be paused.

"The Ohino People haven't yet voted on the May 3rd Referendum on our constitution. If they vote yes, then I can't be apart of the Negotiations as my office then would need to be terminated. The new future President should be able to get on the conversation which is why I am asking for the talks to be put on hold." She said to reporters.

But Communist Governor Danken Sowics insisted that the negotiations about New Wolfassia should continue. "We won't get anywhere if these talks get nowhere, we need action now and there is no time for waiting."

As Protesters in Bora have set up tents around the New Wolfassia capital and the Ohino Government office nearby to protest the federal government. This made it harder for government workers to get to their offices that morning to work. We have taken the liberty in talking to citizens about what they where thinking.

"New Wolfassia should be independent from Ohino." Says protester Lanken Flank. "We already have a separate party government that we are satisfied with and we have our own policys that we want to enact. But the Federal Government has impeded on our right to be a state by inflicting its laws on us. New Wolfassia should be independent from Ohino as it should be free to make its own rules. The Supreme court shouldn't say crap about what we do."

But Ohinoian Citizens living in Bora disagree. "There is a race war going on here. Simply because the natives don't like us keeping their economy going. This is why they are trying to make sure we don't vote and they keep their power. This is excusably the same culture that used to be here before they where annexed. If New Wolfassia becomes independent, then we would be a communist-fascist state with no freedoms for Ohinoian or Wazekian citizens." says Floedo Volan.

As protest rip apart the federal government's relationship with the state. there is still a long way to go before peace comes back to the area, but until then, we are only witnesses of history as it looks like the government has a long way to to until both sides our satisfied.

The Edington Department of Foreign Affairs has decided to temporarily cut down relations with Republic of La Boca due to the ongoing coup.

Lalit Sharma, the Foreign Minister, said on Friday, "We can only establish and develop our relations with nations which have stability and the Government is serious for diplomatic talks. Currently the situation in La Boca is horrible. If the situation continues for some more time, we would need to reconsider about our trade deals and MOU's.

Independence for one

Floresta.- Republic of La Boca:

The Governor of the Autonomous Community of Floresta, Gastón Manfrín, signed together with other officials before its regional parliament, the unilateral declaration of independence, which declares the Independent Republic of Floresta. The Constitution of the Republic of La Boca prohibits the unilateral declaration of independence of its autonomous communities, on the contrary, the Federal Government must call a referendum for the whole country for this reason. The Floresta representative indicated that the national government has ignored its demands as an autonomous community. The Community must be intervened by the national government until the call for a possible referendum, probably for July 2021.

Tethys Territories Reduced, Confirmed by the Svitkan Senate

After recent negotiations in government, the Svitkan government is selling parts of its canal territories to other nations. Although Svitka used these territories, they served little purpose to making economic gains and decided to sell off these largely undeveloped and virtually underpopulated areas. However, the canal itself and land stretching miles on either side will continue to be Svitkan soil and is still open to settlement.

Subversive groups against quarantine took the main squares of Quilmes and other important places such as the town hall and the churches. There were runs, fires and graffiti against the Government.
The Police reacted by launching tear gas against the exalted protesters.
At the Prime Minister's request, the Policemen used bludgeons and their regulatory weapons to disperse the protests.
After long hours of fighting, the police force was able to contain the bully.
The Prime Minister, today early in the morning announced the execution by firing squad of at least 2700 participants in the protests. Faced with economic adversity and social discontent due to the pandemic, today it is all joy, festive air, sun and hot in Republic of La Boca. May the world smile at us, may all adversity vanish for at least a moment. All this, why is it? Because it is the 17th birthday of our beloved comrade Facundo Matías Pasarín, that handsome young little man who, together with his older brother, our Founding Father, pointed out and marked us the path of socialism. May the sun radiate in his gaze, may the birds and the wind chant his name, may the boquense children be inspired by his example, and above all, may each of his actions be always for our greatest happiness and well-being.

Svitka Kicks Off its Holiday Season Amid Pandemic

Early today, President Glidsit attended the annual Thanksgiving Parade in celebration of Svitka's Thanksgiving Holiday. Despite the global pandemic, Svitkans came out and celebrated the event in sizable numbers. Hundreds lined the streets in snow covered Gredovia as floats, bands, and performers all passed in formation. Finishing up the parade was the SDF parade band and honor guard. Due to the low numbers of COVID in Svitka, citizens have been relatively mobile and active despite warnings from the Health Department and international bodies. Although COVID continues to exsist, it will "not hamper nor dampen our holiday spirit nor put our holiday season on hold" president Glidsit said. Later today, Svitkan College and National Gridiron teams will play in their annual Thanksgiving games, a tradition dating back to the 1920s.

Thanksgiving in Svitka spawns from an early tradition where Aloristani colonists and Svitkan natives held a feast together, symbolizing peace and coexistence in Colonial Svitka and the beginnings of a unified and distinct Svitkan society.

Svitka Retires Seagull Plane

Image

Yesterday afternoon, the last Seagull plane in SDF service was retired after finishing its last flight yesterday morning. The aircraft was the longest serving aircraft in SDF history, with its original introduction in 1942. From its introduction, the Seagull was once the transportation workhorse for the SDF and primary transport for airborne troops. Despite the entrance to the jet age, the aircraft continued to be used and modernized, eventually replacing the radial engines with turboprops.

The aircraft came to fame however with its use in the Colonial War. During the war, troops needed to have readily available fire support during engagements. To fill this gap, engineers fitted out the seagull to become an aerial gunship. It was equipped with mini-guns and grenade launchers and proved to be a very valuable asset against enemy forces. It was also equipped with radar to serve as an AWAC aircraft and in search and rescue roles.

After the introduction of the Albatross, the Seagulls were quickly phased out and sold to the public. The last Seagull in service, Serial Number SG23X was constructed in 1953 and served as a transport workhorse until 1995 when it was reverted to ferrying supplies to the Arctic Islands. She will be refurbished and put on display at the Defense Museum.

It is estimated that due to the La Niña phenomenon this southern summer in our country will be drier than normal, prolonging our dry season.
