Kuntsevo Dacha
Moscow Oblast
Russian SFSR
USSR

Joseph Stalin was sitting at his desk, as was his habit during the working day. Although the leader of the Soviet Union had been alloted a magnificent office in the Kremlin, he preferred to do most of his work at the dacha, with the Kremlin office now used mostly for greeting foreign diplomats and leaders. Although the dacha was smaller, Stalin found it to be more comfortable. Its isolation from the hubbub and constant noise of Moscow allowed him to be more productive and, in his mind, made it easier to root out and destroy enemies of the state. He had let down his guard before, and that had resulted in the damned Krauts invading the Motherland. He was now determined to remain eternally vigilant, and this was demonstrated by the dacha's various security measures. Besides the normal bodyguards and personal staff, it was also equipped with two rings of tall wire fences, camouflaged anti-aircraft guns, and 300 specially-selected MGB troops.

However, the most recent threats were not from within, but without. Despite his continuing attempts at strangling West Berlin into submission, the closure of East Germany to American and British convoys had not stopped them from resupplying West Berlin with food and essential supplies. Even now, enemy transports were flying into West Berlin at a rate of one every seven minutes or some other ridiculous number. Stalin had refused to issue shoot-down orders to the Red Army or the Soviet Air Forces in fear of provoking the British or Americans into retaliation. As a result, all he could do was hope that the enemies eventually decided West Berlin was not worth the money and effort required to keep it supplied by air.

Stalin sighed, then shuffled the reports from Berlin to one side and scanned the next paper. After a few seconds, he perked up and began reading it more closely. The report, from a heavily protected area of the USSR, detailed the progress made in the last few days on the Soviet atomic program. Although progress had been slow, the scientists attached to the program were steadily making progress on the development of an atomic bomb. At this rate, a weapon would be ready for testing in the second half of 1949. That was an acceptable result to Stalin.

Finally, to the reports about developments overseas. Various nations were still looking to the Comintern, and thus to the USSR and Stalin, for protection, but had declined to make any significant political or economic commitments to the cause of international Socialism. That was an issue, but for now, the fact that they were reliant on him for security was acceptable. Besides, he still had enemies inside the state to root out. The MGB had recently reported that an elderly doctor in Moscow, and a Jew at that, had been arrested for treason. Perhaps it was time for him to initiate a new roundup of any cohorts and conspirators within that social group.

Valois, Polaria

Polaria Republic

"The Polarian Commonwealth"

  • Continued usage of the blue-and-white flag, as the flag doesn't represent DemSoc or RevSoc, but is just a generic "Hey, we're not Monarchist anymore!" banner. Note that Orange represents Royalty and other things dealing w/ Monarchism.
  • Dual capitols (Lisbon and Valois)
  • Oligarchy status; both execs are now leaders.
  • The other political figures of both Polarian and Portuguese govt's are pooled together.
  • Democratic Socialist and Polarian Progressive Union statuses are in question, as Socialism seems like it has failed Polaria and the Polarians keep trying to reconfigure the system in the name of Identity Politics. The State was officially "colorblind," and didn't see any differences in the ethnicities in Polaria, though just grouped them all together as "Polarian."
  • Religion is left up to the Commonwealth States; no one can truly say the Commonwealth is Secularist, Secular Pagan, or a religious duality with the Christian-Catholics.
  • Which means that also the Commonwealth is neither Venusian, Athenian or Minervan. This also means that there'd be no state sponsoring of the Venusian Church, and also the many different ways to worship one's patron deity.
  • The autonomous regions of The Azores, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands will lose their autonomous statuses; they will now be full states in the Commonwealth.
  • Since Polarian China, Italy and Africa are full parts of Polaria, they'll also be Commonwealth States.
  • The Commonwealth has no right over the monopoly of how Pagan deities are depicted, meaning that creative liberties will be left to the States themselves and also the citizens of said States.
  • The 'commune' level shall be abolished, as it is too small a level to work with. 'Township' will be the smallest it can get inside of a State.
  • The Polarian and Portuguese constitutions will be combined, and all diplomatic relations also combined aswell.
  • The Portuguese green-yellow-orange cross will still be flown, however, as a diplomatic flag. The Polarian flag is the National and Official flag. Macau and other named areas of Polaria will keep their flags.

Alicia examined the proposition.

"Seems good to me, but what about the official language? Or is that left up to the Commonwealth State?" Alicia asked.

She was on the phone line w/ Valorie.

"Well, we wouldn't have an official language." Valorie said over-the-phone.

"So what language would our legal documents, addresses, orders and whatnot be in?" Alicia asked.

"Okay, so, we just use Polarian as the one-size-fits-all, or the Lingua Franca, since essentially Portuguese is a pigeon-tongue of Polarian, no offense." Valorie answered.

"None taken; that's actually true. I just don't want this to look biased towards Polaria." Alicia told.

"It won't be, Portugal's getting alot from this, or atleast the Commonwealth States formed from it." Valorie responded.

"Well, hopefully, when everything's all said-and-done, we can gain more bargaining chips than just Madagascar." Alicia replied.

"They just offer us food and animals. Frankly, I don't see the point in having an agreement with someone when they're not giving you what you need. We're trying to focus on full urbanization. We'd need Iron, Titanium, Steel and other metals to make that happen; to make more buildings. Oil's pretty-good, I won't dismiss Oil; that's pretty-much how we were beating the French at the Car Industry, but now they're adapting and competing with us, which is also good." Valorie told.

"That's essentially Calvary and Animal Warfare. We Iberians, and dare-I-say-it, Polarians could do better. Heck, we oughta be doing better." Alicia stated.

"We think that France was dogwhistling to fascists; to say 'You have a huge population, but not enough landmass, howsabout you takeover some land?' " Valorie said.

"I don't know. I just hope we don't go to War." Alicia replied.

"I don't want war either, Portugal or Polaria. We're just focusing on Security and Peace." Valorie agreed.

"We need to put more money where our mouth is, and speaking of Monies, what will we do about Currency? Do we combine the Dinero and the Guilder or do we have currencies for Commonwealth States?" Alicia asked.

"Well, we'd go with the Former. The latter sounds like Anarchy. We need to have a stable - and unified economy. Hopefully all of this would give us a leg up." Valorie answered.

Alicia laughed.

"Which is why you'd need to quit Socialism." Alicia said.

"I know. Sadly, it was only a means to an end. It didn't work, no matter what we did. We're a Progressivist society anyways. Socialism is holding us back. Let's just be proud that we didn't go full Communist-Socialist." Valorie agreed.

"The Polarian Vision is working though. We'd need more cities." Alicia stated.

Valorie agreed.

"So, when do you want this to be ratified?" Alicia asked.

"Take as long as you'd want. No rush. We already are having issues with the English, so that may delay us for some time." Valorie answered.

'Anything else you'd like to say?" Valorie asked.

"Yeah, sure, girl! I found that part about France and the Ratcatcher to be hilarious!" Alicia cheered.

"...I do not claim to be perfect - nor do I claim to know everything. But, I do know enough to understand that when you have a rat in your restaurant you call a rat-catcher and not the clown! We, my fellow French citizens are the rat-catcher. But instead of doing the right thing and calling us, they called the clown - the UK..!" ~ French President Coty

"I need to visit France someday." Alicia thought-aloud.

"Well, Elena's going to Lille, as-we-speak." Valorie told.

"Sounds good. I hope everything works out. Also, you may need to increase your security and guards. This is no joke. They're trying to destroy us from the inside, that's why I had to start strongmanning and acting Populist with my black dress on!" Alicia shouted.

Valorie laughed.

"Populism sounds good. I just don't want any Nazi or Fascist accusations. At this point, I'm done with these fools insulting us. They need to shut up - and for good." Valorie told, getting serious.

"Mhmm, girl. They think we're all about Rhetoric and Jokes, but we're serious. We will actually join the Warsaw Pact. We just need one more insult hurled our way." She continued.

"Oh yeah. I forgot to ask about the PPU. So, what we're going to do is, we're going to have to bust them since they're a political monopoly, and thus 'too big to fail.' That'd give us so many political parties and movements, but that's alright." Alicia said/asked.

"We can do that, that makes sense. Plus, we need to root out some of this lobbying and colluding nonsense. I feel like something's up." Valorie said.

"Well, that is it, y'all! Buh-bye!" Alicia declared the ending of the phone meeting.

'Bye!" Valorie said.

She'd slam the telephone down, it'd then auto-hangup.

Polaria had enough with being seen as "the Basketcase nation" and "The European Pariah," now that both Anarcho-Communists and Communist-Socialists rose up and also the economies collapsing, there was no choice but to ratify the Commonwealth document.

England also remained silent, for some time now.

Effectively, the PPU would be trust-busted and turned into a myriad of smaller parties and also Polaria would cease being a Socialist country (both Revolutionary Socialist and Democratic Socialist)

Polaria wouldn't become an Unregulated Market/Economy, though, as many in the Government and State feared becoming Hypercapitalistic like the Polarian Empire.

Capitalism had many pros, but also many cons. The Command Economy structure in Revolutionary Polaria was viable and feasible, not to mention Polaria was Socialist but had some capitalist elements in a few places. Macau/Polarian China was also a moneymaker.

Now, Polaria was a quasi-empire, but had to always remember not to become greedy like the Polarian Monarchy, or self-flagellating like the USSR with Stalin purging everyone. Or, even the Chinese and their Cultural Revolution.

A wave of Francophobia swept-up Polaria, not just because of how Coty acted and the Economy, but also because of Napoleon.

The Police had to be very wary of Fascist sentiment, seeing as Polarian Fascists were anti-French. Polarian Communists were also Anti-French. Either way, France was forced w/ the Polarian status-quo of Chancellor Alora Tristine and Chairman Elora Isami.

Now, if the Fascists and Communist-Socialists unified forces, they'd be a menace to Europa herself; the National Bolsheviks would be a spook far greater than the Nazis and the Polarian Empire.

Since the Polarian Commonwealth was Capitalist, would they be joining NATO?

No, because of past treatment under the Republic. Although Socialism is a faulty system-of-governance, Republican Polaria was fairly globalistic and pan-European, though Europe treated Polaria like a misfit just because of their ideology. NATO is essentially the Mean Girls' club. A club of snobby teenaged girls saying: "No! You can't sit with us!"

Also because NATO is essentially England's fanclub, and Europe should move to condemn those warmongers, not condone.

Polaria would probably move into making a partisan, anti-OPEC and Anglophobic alliance. Maybe a francophobic one also, since France had crossed the line/point-of-no-return in not backing-up Polaria.

The plane would finally land in Lille.

Elena'd sigh.

Alora already knew of the Iberian Union and the Commonwealth document, also endorsing it. She planned to stay in the shadows for now, as her paranoia grew to fester. She already enjoyed her vacation, but was starting to fear assassination attempts.

Daniel caught on to her suspicions and began to adopt her quiet tone, "We do have plans for a sack and grab if that option is preferable to all of you. Of course, Discretion will be top priority if this option is taken. We can also simply blackmail him. The main objective of these operations should we decide to go after him is to find out if he knew about the attacks that were being planned and whether his decision to donate to the group was of his own will or if he was compelled to by the British government."

"Yeah. A blackmailing sounds good." She answered.

0730 Hours, 1st Jan 1949,
Çankaya Mansion,
Istanbul, Turkey.

"Salim, you put way too much sugar in this. You don't want me to die of diabetes don't you?" exclaimed İsmet İnönü commenting on the coffee prepared by his office butler jokingly. Salim proceeded to apologize which was dismissively replied by the President. "Salim why don't you take a day off today and spend it with your family. I can handle things here with my secretary. You've been a big help to me for the past few years."

"I am only doing my duty as a servant of this mansion. Thank you sir, I appreciate it." Salim bowed with a smile and exit İsmet's office. The president calls for his secretary through the phone to discuss a few things in his office. "Yes sir what is the matter?" asked Hamza, the 30 year old secretary. He is the son of İsmet's old friend in the days he served in the Ottoman's military, now one of the young prominent figures in the party. "Hamza, the cabinet has been discussing for over 3 days now on whether to militarily align ourselves with the USSR. What do you think?".

"Well sir, I personally believe that it's just a matter of when and not if yes or not. We have already been purchasing our military equipment from them for our ground and air assets, besides the fact that our political views are somewhat the same with a few differences here and there. I'm pretty sure everyone on the cabinet is thinking the same thing including you right sir?" Hamza replied with confidence and a slight smile.

"Haha, good one Hamza, you took the answers right out of my mind. You see, the situation around us is evolving. The world now is no more than a giant tinderbox waiting for someone to ignite the fuse. Allies, and strong ones that is are crucial for our nation. I've been meaning to convey this to them, but some of them are still scared and reluctant of the current development since the end of WW2. However it would be premature to decide now. It is in our best interest to keep increasing our strength economically, militarily as well as better public opinion since there's an upcoming election this year. In case of a looming threat or in a case that it would be in our interest, we will seal the deal. There will be another meeting tomorrow, so I will make sure that this would be the majority opinion.", explains İsmet's, in tandem with Hamza's opinion.

"For now, make sure arrangements of our campaign is in order. If we don't act persistently, the public may no longer support us in waves. I'll approve some budget increase if we need to."

"Alright noted sir. Anything else?" asked Hamza. "Let's schedule a meeting between the cabinet and the military heads. I think it is better for us to procure more assets from the Soviets for preparation. Also, we should plan the biggest military parade so far for the Independence Day, since it is a month before the general elections. It would make for a great propaganda tool in swaying the public in our favours, don't you think?", replied İsmet's in a snarky way. Hamza agreed and chuckled slightly before letting himself out of the room.

The President looked at some of the paperwork before setting his eyes on the globe on the right side of his table. "I wonder what will the Americans & Europeans do now. Huh." He murmured to himself. He gazed all around his room and caught his eyes on the painting of his friend and former President, Kemal Attaturk attached high on the wall decorated by ornaments. "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Yeah I remember your words, friend." he smiled as he gazed emptily on the office doors. 10 years of service, and this would be the second most crucial time for him after the Second World War.

20:00, New Year's Eve, 1948
National Capital Region

It was New Year's Eve when the citizens turned on their radios (if they had one). A few fireworks and firecrackers can be heard exploding in the distance but far enough away you could still hear the radio. Citizens changed their radio frequency, skipping past the few AM radio stations that happened to be doing late night broad casts, to a certain number: 738. That number belonged to the radio station DZRB meaning Radyo ng Bayan (Radio of the People) which is a government owned radio station, which are being used for public broadcasts. The citizens tuned in this day for a certain radio program which only aired once a month. A voice finally came out speaking the words "A fireside chat with The Honorable President, Elpidio Quirino."
Good evening fellow countrymen, it is the end of the month again and this time it is the night bring the old year to a close and welcome a new year. In a few hours, the year one thousand, nine hundred and forty-nine will begin. It will be the year my term comes to an end. In a few hours, the month of January will begin: the 1st month of campaigning. The nation hopes you vote wisely on March.

Now let's stop talking about future matters. We should be talking about the acts and setbacks of this Republic. The Huks have made major gains against government forces but they are still a manageable threat. We still haven't been able to contact Taruc which for those who don't know is the leader of these rebels. I advise you to be careful if you are visiting or are living in Central Luzon.

Next matter on hand is the modernization of the military. We are trying to build up our forces to protect ourselves against the Communist insurrection. The United States is providing help on that for that front with their aid in military equipment and aides to reform our military in addition to them creating military bases here for at least 50 years. It will also help us in case our claim in Sabah goes hot and we have to enforce our claim through force.

I am also pleased to say that the Philippines is recovering nicely from the Second World War and has an economy that is growing rapidly.

The fireside chat continued on for several minutes about many minor details including his family, his experiences in Malacanang, and many others before finally ending.

The grandfather clock hit 12:00. Besides the distant fireworks and snoring residents, it is the only thing that can be heard in the entire house.

It is now January 1, 1949. It is now the start of the new era.

Communications Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Kremlin, Moscow, USSR
17:48, 03 January 1949

Dimitri Danilovich was hard at work at the wireless telegraph set. The telegraph operator had been working steadily since 8 that morning, and he had hoped that the slow trickle of outgoing messages would remain at that pace until the day ended. However, around noon, outgoing traffic had suddenly increased, and he had noticed from the uptick of foot traffic in the corridor that the incoming message traffic had also shot up. With any luck, this was related to his own outgoing messages, and not the announcement of another surprise war from the Americans. Dimitri's own messages were less interesting to him and, probably, to the rest of the world, but still had to go out. Besides, it wasn't like he could refuse to send it.

The one that was next on the docket for him to send had something to do with an organization called the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, whatever that was. Dimitri had recently sent a flurry of messages trying to organize regular economic aid, and he supposed that this was just another aid package or something along those lines. Dimitri slid the new message next to the telegraph set and got to work tapping away.

TO: Soviet Ambassador to Turkey
MESSAGE: Ministry of Foreign Affairs has authorized Ambassador to make an offer of economic assistance to the gov't of Turkey for development of heavy industry in the name of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON).

TO: Soviet Ambassador to Mexico
MESSAGE: Ministry of Foreign Affairs has authorized Ambassador to make an offer of economic assistance to the gov't of Mexico for development of heavy industry in the name of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance.

Soviet Embassy in Mexico
Mexico City, Mexico

Viktor Petrovich read the message slowly, then leaned back in his chair. Although the position of Soviet ambassador to Mexico was often seen as a backwater posting for men at the end of their careers, Petrovich felt differently. After all, Mexico was already ideologically friendly to the USSR, so why not make the two nations politically closer as well? And this offer was just the way to do it. Viktor had heard rumblings on the street of a new plan for industrialization in Mexico, so he felt that the Mexican government would be very appreciative of aid from the Soviet Union. That settled it. He would try to get a meeting with an economic minister or even the leader, if possible, and see if they were receptive to industrialization aid in the form of technical advisors. Or maybe raw materials. Or maybe equipment. Or even all three.

Coincidentally, at about the same time that Viktor was writing a note for his secretary to arrange a meeting, the Soviet ambassador to Turkey was doing the exact thing.

Soviet Ambassador to Mexico is seeking a meeting with a Mexican government representative to discuss possible Soviet aid

Soviet Ambassador to Turkey is seeking a meeting with a Turkish government representative to discuss possible Soviet aid

Republic of North Arabia
Image

North Arabia had taken many strides in recent years to better organize and conduct itself. Nasser's plan of a united Arab federation called for the creation of several joined provinces, and as such the parliament got to work creating them after taking office in early 1948. There was Al-Iraq (Iraq), Al-Suria (Syria), Phoenicia (Lebanon), Al-Filistin (Palestine), Al-Ardan (Jordan), and Al-Ajybt (Egypt). Each province had a written charter and their own devolved form of governments, where were soon elected in the summer. In early October the national rail strategy was announced, construction of rail hubs in Baghdad, Basrah, Damascus, Jerusalem, Cairo, and Alexandria. There would be the large Mediterannean Line starting in Aleppo, going through Homs, Tripoli, Beirut, Sidon, Tyre, Acre, Jaffa, Sdud, Gaza, Arish, Port Said, Damietta, Baltim, Rasheed, Alexandria, El-Alamein, and ending Marsuh Matra. The next line was the Mamluk Line starting in Aswan, then moving north through Luxor, Qena, Sohag, Asyut, Mallawi, Minya, Samalut, Beni Suef, going through Cairo then east to Suez, Eilat and Aqaba, then north to Beersheba, and Jerusalem, east to Amman, north to Irbid, and ending in Damascus. There was the Abbasid Line going from Beirut to Damascus, then further east to Deir Ez-Zur, south to Ramadi, El Fajullah, Baghdad, Hillah, Nasiriyah, and ending in Basrah. These three lines would be the core lines of the new rail infrastructure project. This was what Nasser had been thinking of as he sat on his porch in his villa in the Old City of Jerusalem, as midnight fast approached guests came and ate a dinner with him and then they watched as the fireworks exploded in the night sky signifying a new year in the world.

0800 Hours, 4th of Jan 1949,
Presidential Office,
Çankaya Mansion, Istanbul.

President İsmet İnönü was sitting on his chair, looking out through the window behind his work table. Yesterday a cabinet meeting with the military officials was held to discuss about purchasing a large number of military assets from the Soviets, which was approved. Three knocks on the office doors break the silence of the room. "Yes, enter." İsmet said in a stern voice.

"Sir, we have just received word from the Soviet ambassador this morning regarding an economic assistance offer. Here's the official letter." Hamza hands the letter once he stands in front of İsmet's table. "Well, it should be us reaching them first but this is definitely a delight. Let us see." the President reads the letter attentively and gathers his composure to make a reply.

"I see, i'm sure our Foreign Affairs Ministry is already aware right? In that case let's schedule a meeting tomorrow between the Soviet's ambassador with me and Orhun Zeybek (Minister of Foreign Affairs)." Replied İsmet with a slight smile.

0800 Hours, 5th Jan 1949,
Meeting Room, Foreign Affairs Ministry,
Istanbul.

Just before the meeting, the President and his minister went through the details of their agenda for today.
Official Commune
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Turkey

Regarding Economic Aid Offer From the USSR
We gladly accept your offer and would like to ask assistance in the form of technical advisors as well as equipment for us to further develop our heavy industry to bolster Turkey's economy. Currently, there will be a general election held this 5th of March to appoint the government. Once the elections are over and the Republican's People Party win again, we are looking to further tighten our government ties by joining in a military alliance with the USSR.

In this aid request, we would like to also purchase a quite large number of military assets to help guard our sovereignty. As we know, Turkey is already using an arsenal of assets almost exclusively Soviet made, with some numbers of other previous Allied assets during WW2 and before. Therefore we are also looking at the future possibility of making factories and sites that are able to produce Soviet designed tanks and airplanes here in Turkey. This does not have to happen now but in the range of years from now. In return we will reduce or remove goods & services taxes from important Soviet businesses or trade that are passing through Turkish territories.

Attached below is the details of military assets that we are hoping you could allow us to purchase from the Soviets. Thank you once again for extending this aid offer and the whole of Turkey extends their utmost gratitude for your help.

Military Assets Purchase
    *T-34-85 (mod 1946) Medium Tank - 180 units
    *SU-100 Tank Destroyer - 30 units

    *La-9 Fighter Aircraft- 80 units
    *MiG-9 Jet Fighter- 30 units
    *Tupolev Tu-2 Medium Bomber - 20 units
*Ilyushin Il-10 Ground Attack Aircraft - 40 units

8:00 AM, Philippine Standard Time
January 8, 1949, Saturday
It was a loud Saturday morning. Saturdays were usually loud due to the streets bustling with activity but this Saturday is usually so. If you listened to the noise, you would be able to figure out why. Campaign jingles and promises of action were heard across the town. If you turned on the radio, you would hear seldom hear anything that isn't related to the elections.

Here is a brief rundown of the political situation:
The Republic has the Malolos Constitution as its basic law. Although not stated in the Constitution, the Assembly is limited to 100 seats which may be adjusted due to increase in population. The president is not chosen directly but voted by Assembly (like a prime minister). Quirino is the current president and has extended his term to deal with the everything after the war (which thankfully, isn't that much compared to Japan politically). There is a slight disdain against the Americans but not that much.
Nacionalista Party
Led by Jose P. Laurel, it is a party founded before the war and cooperated with Japanese occupation. Known to be anti-American but also anti-Communist. It has party platform built on nationalism and militarism. Popular with nationalists, the poor and those devastated by the war.

Liberal Party of the Philippines
Led by Jose Avelino, a person who has worked very closely with Manuel Quezon, the president who led the government-in-exile when he was chased out of the Philippines by the Japanese. The party was founded out of the former liberal wing of the Nacionalista Party. It is pro-American and against using military force in any offensive war. Popular with business men, the educated and the victims of Japanese rule.

13:45 CET, Reichstag, West Berlin.

Kaiser Wilhelm the 3rd looked out of his Reichstag office onto the plaza below, even with the airlift food shortages were still a problem . It angered him that the crimes of another nation were being repayed by the suffering of his. He had only been Kaiser for 4 years, and was responsible for putting the pieces of a shattered nation back together, all under the boot of the Americans and Soviets. At that moment an idea came to him. He turned to his Cheif Aide.

"Otto, who is someone the Soviets want dead?". A flash of surprise passed over Otto' s face but was soon suppressed.

"Hans-Ulrich Rudel of the former Luftwaffe, other than that, basically the same people we want dead." Wilhelm nodded thoughtfully at that. He turned away Otto and back towards the window.

"I want agents on the hunt for Rudel. Prioritise Haudegen Reich as a search area. He's probably hiding there. When you find him, alert me." With that he sat in the Great chair of his office, composing a letter to General Secretary Joseph Stalin. (It'll be posted in a later post)

15:57 CET,

The first of the Agents arrive in Svarlbad, they get hotel rooms and begin the hunt for Hans-Ulrich Rudel.

The Kremlin, Moscow, Russian SFSR, USSR
10 January 1949

"And with that, we'll be able to begin a fuller political and military integration," finished Vyacheslav Molotov.

The conference room was silent as the rest of the room, which currently contained the members of the Council of Ministers, awaited the reply of Stalin. Molotov's proposal, which was to fully embrace close economic and political cooperation with friendly states through the liberal use of foreign aid, had originated with a suggestion from Stalin, but no one every made assumptions when it came to him. After all, that was how you disappeared.

After a few seconds, Stalin spoke.

"Very well. If the rest of the Council sees this proposal, this Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, as acceptable, then I will approve it as well. All in favour?"

Everyone around the table quickly raised their hands.

"Good. Molotov, I trust you can arrange the details, and the Ministry of Defense will provide you with military support as necessary." And with that, Stalin stood up and left the room, leaving the rest to quietly chatter amongst themselves. The room slowly emptied out as Molotov approached some of the key ministers in the room for a brief discussion, but within ten minutes of the departure of the boss, the Council of Ministers had retreated ti their various offices and ministries. Molotov, in his capacity as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, rushed back to the Foreign Affairs offices in another wing of the Kremlin. He knew that the Turkish government had already accepted an offer of assistance from the Soviet Union, and he had to ensure that the aid began flowing before they abandoned the request.

Before he even stepped into the doorway of his office, Molotov began speaking in the general direction of his secretary.

"Get a message to the telegraph men. Tell them to tell the Turkish government that the technical aid has been approved immediately, along with some of the military aid. And get me the head of the Ministry of Defense on the phone!"

TO: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Turkey
FROM: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Union of Soviet Socialist Republic

On behalf of the people of the Soviet Union, I am pleased to be able to immediately provide both technical advisors and industrial equipment for the development of heavy industry in Turkey. In line with your mention of possible future procurement of military industrial resources and equipment, I have specifically set aside resources and equipment for the establishment of iron production facilities in Turkey, to be made available at a very deep discount should they be requested. In exchange for this metal manufacturing equipment, I ask that the Republic of Turkey exclusively use only iron ore from Turkey, the Soviet Union, and other worker-friendly nations.

As for military equipment, at this time, we are able to make available for purchase the tanks and tank destroyers that were requested. As for the aircraft, while the Soviet Air Force has set aside for your purchase the requested La-9 and IL-10 aircraft, we are currently unable to provide the requested MiG-9 and Tu-2 aircraft at this time. If the Republic of Turkey is interested in a closer military partnership sometime in the future, the Soviet Air Force will gladly arrange for them to train on the aircraft.

"Hamza, how's our soft campaign going?" İsmet went to bring a new topic into discussion. They were having a talk on several administration issues. "So far we're continuing our offer of help to businesses as well as put up murals and propaganda on walls and advertisement boards wherever possible. We have made sure radio channels throughout the nation are broadcasting about the good economy progress we had during our time as government since Kemal Attaturk's rule as well as the goodwill that we had shown to our people in terms of welfare and education. Not to mention the newspapers are also a viable medium. I'd say we're looking good despite some small resistance from the opposing Democrat party." explained Hamza.

İsmet didn't manage to reply as audible knocks on the door were heard. "President, Mr. Secretary. I'm Cairul. I am here to deliver a message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs." Hamza's assistant speaks through the door to introduce himself. The President allows him to enter and Cairul gave the dossier. "Ah, that's good. The Soviets have approved the economic aid as well as our future needs of military power. Hamza, read it and give the go to the Ministry to send an agreeing reply to the Soviets. Also give the heads up to the military branches about the details of the successful purchase request." İsmet said as he looks to both Hamza and Cairul.

FROM: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Turkey

As the representative of Republic of Turkey, we are glad and in your debt for your agreement to our requests. Regarding the establishment of iron production facilities, we are in tune with your offer and will gladly accept it. We will begin appointing representatives from our Ministry to handle matters regarding to the transfer of equipment and resources for the iron production facilities as well as for the transfer of industrial equipment and technical advisors for our heavy industries. We also agree to the conditions of using only iron ore sourced from local mines, the Soviet Union and other worker-friendly nations.

Regarding the military equipment purchase, we are thankful that you have approved the request. Therefore, we will be in close contact to deliver the payment and to make sure the delivery goes smooth. As for the offer of military training on these aircraft, we are thankful for the offer and accept it. The Department of Armed Forces of Turkey will be handling this matter and will be contacting you soon. We look forward to more partnerships and greater ties in the future.

The Greater Korean Republic
Image

Pyongyang
Greater Korean Republic

Another cold, busy day in the nation's capitol. Citizens roaming to & from through the city like ants, all apart of a sophisticated system proclaimed by none other than Kim Il-sung, the nation's great leader. The northern half of the Korean peninsula was deemed the Administrative region by the government, while Japan was the business and industrial center for the Greater Korean Republic. South of the 38th Parallel, citizens lived a much different life. While Japan and Northern Korea enjoyed a relatively "free" way of life, those to the south were under a tight, unwavering grip of oppression by the government. Of course, none of that was to be known outside of the GKR's borders as state-run media shoved pro-government propaganda as far as the eye could see.

Getting the rebels to the south acclimated and ready to contribute to the state was indeed a task, but with a constant military presence and martial rule prevailing throughout the region Kim Il-sung knew it was only matter of time before they'd accept the way of life he had championed. His work, though, was not finished.

The Korean People's Army, despite being able to handily defeat the South, was fairly unequipped to handle more than that. Kim Il-sung knew this to be true but with the backing of the Soviets he knew that the sky was the limit for his nation. Though, he wished to not be in the shadow of the Russian bear for too long. He needed to find a way to improve upon this military without suckling on the teet of Russia.

He was set to introduce the Military Organization and Reformation Act at a rally later this week, which would reorganize the military into several different branches and subsets; the Korean People's Army (KPA), Korean People's Navy (KPN), Korean People's Air Force (KPAF) would stand but be broken down, respectively, into the KPA Ground Force and KPA Special Operations Command, KPN Marine Force, KPN Coast Guard, and KPN Command for Maritime Operations, with the KPAF being left open for later reorganization as time goes on.

This reorganization and regrouping of the military was deemed necessary by Kim Il-Sung to continue onward with his agenda for complete control over the South Pacific. Which brings up his next goal on this quest; the Philippine Islands.

Somewhere in the Philippine Sea
Some 300 miles off the coast of the Phillippines

"I'm worried.." said Yi Ju-son, a sailor tasked with the most lethal of mission. A mission that involved killing innocent civilians.

"Don't be, the Great Leader gave us the honor of asking us personally to carry out this mission. This will turn into something that will go down in history and be celebrated for all eternity." Suu Il-jung, his captain replied.

"It's still scary though. What if something happens to my family?"

"Our families will be cherished. Pain and grief will follow with our mission's success, but you must remember it is for the greater good of the Republic. We can't be selfish."

"You're right. I guess.."

Some time passed by without anyone saying a word. Just the noise of military equipment running in the background and the engine of the submarine vessel drowning out the silence that plagued the close-quartered ship. Their mission was simple, follow a Korean civilian ship destined to make port in the Philippines, send out multiple messages identifying themselves as a Filipino sub and for civilian ship to state their purpose, then gun them down

"Yi...it's time." Suu said as he instructed him to ready the ship's weapons. "For what it's worth..it's been a pleasure." He said as he began sending out messages to the ship. First one, then another after some time with no reply.

"They're ready." Yi said after some time of saying nothing.

The two looked at each other with soft eyes, tears welling in both of them for they knew the sins they were committing. Suu began reciting the national anthem of the GKR, with Yi closely following suit after some lonely bars being sung. Without any semblance of a warning, Suu fired the weapons. Sending the ship into oblivion.

As one of the closest allies of the Korean state, I would like to formally invite a representative of the Soviet Union to Pyongyang in order to discuss matters of continued diplomacy and unprecedented levels of unity between our two nations.

Signed,
Kim Il-sung

As one of the closest allies of the Worker's revolution across the globe, I wish to establish formal diplomatic ties between our two states by offering an embassy here in Pyongyang and hopefully you will hope to reciprocate the offer by allowing us to build an embassy within Mexico. Along with this, we wish to establish trade and other agreements at the earliest convenience.

Kim Il-sung

An accident or a false flag?

Postby Alistan Democratic Nation » Thu Apr 30, 2020 10:46 pm

9:00 AM, Philippine Standard Time
12th January, 1949
Malacanang Palace
Shocking news hit the palace that could result in a diplomatic incident or worse, war. A Korean vessel has been sunk 300 miles from the Philippine coast, squarely in the Republic's Territorial Waters.

Quirino: This is a tragedy for sure but what does is it mean for us?
Minister of War and Marine: This could be an accident or an intentional false flag incident. Either way, since it happened in our waters, we will be blamed for it. Judging the attitudes of these Communists, we are going to be attacked for this. I suggest mobilizing for war now!
Minister of Foreign Affairs: We should not mobilize immediately because it would look like we sunk it with the intention of going to war. I suggest we send a diplomatic statement to help with their investigation.
Minister of War and Marine: But we will be blamed anyway and this will be an embarrassment on a global scale. We should expose their possible ploy for the world to see. Mr. President, we should prepare the army now!
Minister of Foreign Affairs: But that would risk war!
Quirino: Enough! I have now decided the course of action. The Minister of Foreign Affairs should send a telegram to the Americans asking them to defend us in case this goes hot. They should accept due to their military bases on these islands. The Minister of War should prepare the navy to blockade the coast of Northern and North Eastern Luzon. He should also prepare the air force to bomb the Kyushu and Southern Korean ports just in case. We should also conduct an independent investigation and publicly announce it
Ministers: Understood.
Greetings Imperial Republic of America,
We urgently need your help. The communists in Korea might possibly have caused a false flag incident that may lead to war. We ask you to station more troops in the Philippines and backing in the possible war. Please make it hasty as time is of the essence. We wish you best of luck whatever the reply may be.
Sincerely,
The Philippine Republic

Summary:
Public independent investigation on incident is launched
The Navy and Air Force is being readied for possible war

Elysee Palace, Paris
3:00am Paris Time
January 12th

Vincent Auriol sat awake in his office chair. Despite the early hour and the fact that sleep was recommended, President Auriol enjoyed seeing the one time Paris was silent. Ever since 1944, Paris had been trying to regain it's pre-war glory. And in many ways it had a leg up. Paris had survived WW2 with only moderate damage to it's buildings and had been spared the fate of Warsaw and Dresden. However the violent, bloody, and brutal war with the Axis had drained the will of the French people to fight a war.

At the moment, the French nation rather focus on rebuilding the war damage and rebuilding the French armed forces which where in a poor state after the war. So at the moment France was neutral despite her leanings to the west. And Vincent Auriol knew that any war would mean his removal from office since after the strikes of 1947 and some previous colonial struggles along with the disgraced pullout from Indochina in 1945 meant that French politics where in a precarious position.

So as the soft glimer of lights from Paris filled President Auriol's office, it was almost like the calm before the storm for France. Little did Vincent Auriol know that sooner rather than later France would need to once again serve on the global stage as a major power. But that was a distant if worrying thought for President auriol. He had bigger issues like DeGaulle gunning for the spot of president and strikes. A foreign intervention was the furthest thing on his mind.

But the daily intelligence report which was due in four hours would soon tell another story. As President Auriol took a seat for breakfast and was given the intelligence report whch mainly was filled with notes on French inssurgents he just sighed.

"What is it?" Asked his wife Michelle.

"Oh some Korean vessel sunk in Philippine waters, and there is a risk it could become a diplomatic incident." He grumbled as he took a sip of coffee.

"And you plan on doing nothing?" Michelle asked.

"Precisely. The French people don't want war. We've got enough issues as it is. No need to add another in. And after Indochina, the will of our nation to fight in Asia is gone." Vincent explained as his wife just sighed.

"Yet France pretends to be a great power. You can't play both sides." She chided.

"You can. And that's exactly what the French people want me to do." He sighed as he out the coffee cup down.

"And if we get sucked into it?" Michelle asked with worry in her voice.

"We won't." Vincent Auriol replied as he got up from the table. "Now I've got to go to the office." He sighed as he walked away.

Lacho Nacho II was pacing back and forth clicking his pen in his office while other officials watched.

"Sir.. what.. are you doing?" Someone urged to point out.

"Oh, c'mon! We have to convince the people that there is no communist takeover in the Federation!" Lacho exclaimed. He proceeded to ramble while continuing to pace. "There is no big Red Scare! We have a strategic territorial location in New Ochlandia, all I need is your permission to set up spy bases and a couple missile silos."

"That sounds great and all but what are the Ochlandians going to think?" Said Tom Tomathan, governor of the Southern Territories.

"..You think they need to question above actions? Ha! They don't want a communist takeover either now do they? No, because there will be none if we build missiles and spy bases!" Rambled Lacho.

"It's great and all but-" Tom was cut off while other officials watched.

"Yes, it is great! You don't a communist takeover, neither so I!" Shouted Lacho then he proceeded to say "If New Ochlandia has weapons in or on it, we can terrify the Soviets into not taking our strategic point in the Pacific!" Lacho was trying to convince Tom, which he finally did.

"Ok, ok fine, we'll set up 3 missile silos in each end, and spy bases hidden across, sound good?" Tom said.

"Just what I like to hear!" Lacho agreed.

Reichstag Parliament Chamber, 7:45 AM CET.

Kaiser Wilhelm had organized a meet of the Parliament to discuss various issues in the country and in the world. MP Heinrich Bauer was speaking of a Korean civilian ship being sunk in a Filipino harbor. Wilhelm raised his hand to silence the MP

"Herr Bauer, Germany is in no state to get involved in Asian politics. We can barely feed our people." He said

"Of course Mein Kaiser"

"Herr Kullmann, what news from Svarlbad?" The MP stood up coolly and spoke

"We know he is in the city, and we have a rough approximation of his location, should have more specifics within 4 days Mein Kaiser"

"Excellent, keep up the good work, but don't be to aggressive, we don't want the Reich antagonized." Kullmann nodded and sat down.

"Now gentlemen, we all know we are in dire need of assistance. The majority of the Empire is fine but Berlin is struggling, food shortages are rampant and there is barely enough for the West part of the Empire and damn little for Berlin. So. We must appeal to someone for help, the Americans and British tried with moderate success, do you think we could call upon the French?"

The MPs thought for a moment, the MP Weiss stood up

"In my mind their is no harm in asking Mein Kaiser" the others grunted in affirmation.

"Well I shall have a letter drafted immediately. That is all for today Mein Herren" with that he stood and after the proper bowing and such of politics left for his office. He had Karina, his secretary, draft the following letter:

To the Government of the Honorable Country of France,

As you well know, both of our countries were impacted severely by the ear instigated by the Nazi traitors, but I fear that Germany has not been able to recover as well as France has, and we now call for your aid to feed our people and get Germany on its feet again. We are will9ng to cooperate with demands that you may have, whether those be military support, support in the UN, or financial compensation.

To the Honorable Emire of Germany and Kaiser Wilhem the 3rd,

It would be an honor to cooperate with your nation. We're willing to aid in feeding and providing for Germany, especially as we rebuild our military and economy. Our demands are that you agree to form a cooperative military and trade alliance with France. Financial compensation will not be necessary. It is in the best interest of our two nations to maintain a stable and peaceful Europe. As threats rise around the world, it is a necessity now more than ever to have an ally.

Robert Schuman
Foreign Minister of the French Fourth Republic

"You think the Germans will like that?" Asked Vincent Auriol

"I'd certainly think they will. Necessity makes people contemplate their best escape from the situation." Robert Schuman replied.

"If you think this is a good idea, send it." Henri Queuille, the French Prime Minister said.

"I think you two are overlooking how important this letter is. It sets a new precedent of an allied Germany and France." Robert Schuman explained as the Prime Minister and President listened.

"I say send it immediately." Vincent Auriol said brusquely.

"Very well. And with this letter dawns a new era." Schuman said excitedly as he walked out of the room.

"Are you serious?!" Queuille asked in shock.

"As much as we want peace, we can't be left without allies. And this is an oportunity to seize." Auriol replied.

"Grandeur Bash sir, there has been an explosion of the coast of southern Florida, and our intelligence is telling us it was a foreign power" said the Minister

Henry sat up straight "what? who?"

"We don't know," said the MInister "However our forces our looking into it"

Henry sighed "This is hopeless if we don't get allies soon the confederacy won't survive to even see 1950"

"Then we need to find some," said the MInister " what about Germany Grandeur?"

"what do you mean," said Henry

"Germany right now is in a precarious state if we sent them supplies like food, and money, I'm sure they will be very appreciative," said the Minister

Henry thought a bit "I'm sure they would, I want a conference with the kaiser right away"

"yes Grandeur I'll get right on it" said the minister walking away

The Kremlin, Moscow, Russian SFSR
USSR
13 January 1949

Molotov was dozing when a sharp knock on his office door awoke him. The startled foreign minister sat back up and opened his eyes just in time to look serious as a messenger entered his office without asking. The crisp uniform with the dark blue bands on the cap and epaulets indicated that he was an MGB man.

"Comrade Minister, I have an urgent message from the Ministry of State Security, First Directorate."

"Alright, give it here," Molotov replied. He had been worried it had been a message from the boss, but the First Directorate was foreign intelligence. It likely had something to do with that recent sinking of a Korean ship.

The MGB officer handed him a sealed envelope and wordlessly left the room. As soon as the officer was gone, the Foreign Minister tore open the envelope and quickly read the contents. Apparently, the future Soviet ambassador to Korea had decided that the Filipino incident could spark a war, and had included tactical and strategic information in the communication. Molotov chuckled to himself. Korea had only recently expanded, at the cost of a lot of manpower and capital, and the Foreign Minister calculated that Korea was unable to respond with anything beyond diplomatic anger. However, this was beyond the purview of the new ambassador to Korea, who had just been doing his due diligence. All the same, he would arrange for a special Soviet delegation to go to the Philippines and ensure that nothing went horribly wrong.

Molotov decided that he would set the ambassador at ease and made a note for his secretary, then turned to the next paper on his desk. It appeared to be a notice from the Soviet representative in Mexico City, stating that support had been requested from the Mexican government. After a few seconds of thought, the Minister decided to send both technical advisors and some heavy equipment to establish a tractor factory. After all, what was better for the prospects of International Socialism than a prosperous, productive, Socialist tractor factory in the backyard of global capitalism?

To: Foreign Ministry of the Worker's Republic of Mexico
On behalf of the people and party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, I am pleased to announce that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has provided technical advisors and training facilities to support the development of industrialization and the Socialist Revolution in Mexico. Additionally, the Ministry will provide the machinery and resources necessary for the establishment of a tractor factory in Mexico in the name of the workers of the world. In return, I ask that the Worker's Republic consider giving preferential tariff rates to Soviet trade with the Worker's Republic.

To: the Republic of the Philippines
On behalf of the people and party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, I am requesting that the honourable government of the Republic of the Philippines allow the entry of a special Soviet delegation to the nation during this turbulent time to provide consular services to Soviet citizens, encourage local trade with the Soviet Union, and establish diplomatic ties with the honourable government of the Republic.

On behalf of the Dear Leader and de El Partido Comunista Mexicano we will gladly comply, we will even allow the establishment of military bases within our borders, we would also like some technicians to better extract the oil in the gulf of Mexico because currently Pemex is having some problems reestablishing a constant stream of oil. Of course the USSR can acquire our natural resources with priority.
Next a small paragraph written by El Querido Líder:
"Fellow comrades I feel like formalizing a mutual Defence pact would be beneficial for the two of us, we will allow the entering of Soviet troops and personnel to Mexico."
As the Dear Leader said your nation also gets military access.

30 minutes earlier

Tldr:
-Mexico gratifies the terms and conditions
-We also give military access and hint to a possible military alliance
