Deadline for Entries; Voting Begins - 1st June, 20:00 BST
Voting Closes - 8th June, 20:00 BST

A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

  1. To start, you must sign up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You won't be penalized if you sign up and don’t end up posting a song. You then post the song in the IC thread after a host vote (see previous contests to see what a "normal" post looks like).
  2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
  3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory, and other languages are encouraged.
  4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the Committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real-life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

  1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one edition in order to qualify to host a following edition. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic and fair result.
  2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real-life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgment. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
  3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in one strike given to the player.
  4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
  5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the Committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
  6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes a peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification or an appropriate measure as determined by the Committee. If at any point, you feel you are a victim or feel someone has been victimized by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
  7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
  8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if you do so and don't finish your entry by the deadline, you will receive a strike. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalized or not. You may also state that you are withdrawing from the contest on the OOC thread.
  9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee. If you'd like to edit something in after the deadline, please ask the Committee for permission first.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee - it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Axuva, Besen, Ertzei Kishim, Izmedu, Todlichebujoku) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Host Bids (1)

Disqualified Nations (1)
  • Zamboodle

A reminder that this a ban on the user, not the nation: using a puppet to attempt to circumnavigate this will not be allowed.

STRIKE SYSTEM

As it was introduced prior to the start of '79, the same strike system for punishments will be in effect, where players breaking certain contest rules will receive strikes depending on the severity.

    • One Strike: No immediate consequences;
    • Two Strikes: One-contest ban;
    • Three Strikes: Two-contest ban.
  • Strikes expire after five editions; however, a strike expiring during a ban does not edit or shorten it.
  • Bans stack; that is, a nation reaching three strikes within one edition is immediately banned for the following three editions.
  • Bans erase strikes once they are completed.

Here are the following issues that can net you a strike:

    One strike:
    • Not voting in the contest (will also disqualify a contestant from competing)
    • Changing votes without Worldvision Committee supervision.
    • Posting halftime results when not the host or WVC & refusing to remove results (which also results in disqualification)
    • Posting an incomplete entry.
    • Not declaring a puppet.

    Two strikes:
    • Engaging in tactical voting.
    • Intentionally refusing to vote.
    • Attempts to evade a ban.
    • Entering more than one puppet in the contest.

If you have any questions regarding the new strike system, please contact the Worldvision Committee and we can assist you.

The WorldVision Committee is proud to announce:

WorldVision: The Teams

Image

This is the first edition of a new WorldVision spin-off, WorldVision: The Teams. This special edition will see the greatest WorldVision nations pair up as teams to create a single entry together. You will fuse the best aspects of your nations' music, culture and traditions to create an unbeatable song to take the world by storm. If you know the WorldVision rules, then this special edition will be no different for you, as the basis of the contest will be like the main edition. This edition will run between the 82nd and 83rd WorldVision Song Contests, but we will start sign-ups now so each pair has more time to think about and coordinate their entries. See below for the special edition's calendar:

IMPORTANT DATES
Sign Ups Close/Ranking For Partners Deadline/Pairs Announced - 18th May, 20:00 BST
IC Thread Up - 1st June, 20:00 BST
Voting Begins/Deadline for Entries - 15th June, 20:00 BST
Voting Closes - 22nd June, 20:00 BST

Special Rules for this Edition

The special edition will have the same rules as a normal WorldVision, however with these editions. If a rule posted here contradicts a WorldVision rule, assume the special edition rule takes precedence:
  • You may choose your partner: To sign-up, please express interest in the regular OOC thread of the contest. You may submit to the committee via telegram a preference list of 3 nations (in order) as to who you would like to work with by the sign-ups deadline. There is no guarantee you will get your preferred partner, and only those who rank each other in their top 3 will be matched together. Those who do not submit a preference list will be randomly allocated a partner in a committee hosted draw. Partners cannot be changed! The partner you have been drawn with will be your partner for the edition and you must create an entry with them, and them alone.
  • The entry must be representative of both nations: The IC delegation which you send must be representative of both nations, whether that be through the artist's joint nationality, a multi-national band, or extensive backstage team which is composed of both nations.
  • Voting - Each nation votes individually and not in pairs. You cannot vote for your own entry. Permitting there is enough entries, we will use the WorldVision voting system, if not, other systems will be discussed.

These rules are not exhaustive so if you have any questions feel free to contact a member of the committee.

Due to ETV running a domestic-only online poll instead of a proper NF, they've decided to display this message to social media instead of announcing a proper entrant:

Image
Note: That's 9am in my nation (UTC-10 and we don't have daylight savings), which'll mean the reveal will be at 7pm UTC time, 8pm UK time, 3pm EST.
Also, since Elejamie uses DD-MM-YYYY, that's 1st May instead of 5th January.

OOCly, I also sign up for WorldVision: The Teams and I'd also like to pre-confirm my puppet Placely Placington for another bog-standard joke entry.

KDAM-WORLDVISION - 82 - קדם וורלדוויזיון

Saseh Kounmourzah's 4th place in WV81 was a solid result for the team at HARESHET, and they were confident with their plans for the coming editions. The entry was controversial because of its internal selection, and thus HAREHSET decided to return to the Kdam format, with a revamped look and feel. Around 183 entries were sent to HARESHET, with the revamp seeing a marked upturn in interest. The only problem remained was the diversity of entries, which as always, tended towards the dancey, consumable market. This genre had become increasingly irrelevant in WorldVision, and so in order to create diversity, a number of more "ethnic sounding" entries were placed in the final. Eventually, ten exciting entries had been selected to potentially represent Ertzei Kishim in the 82nd WorldVision Song Contest.

Song #1
Yair Dayan - Strangers

Duke Dumont - Ocean Drive

Song #2
Kafeh Shakhor - Habibi

KEiiNO ft. Electric Fields - Would I Lie

Song #3
Neta Kanarit - Ice Heart

Jack Wins ft. Rothwell - Familiar Strangers

Song #4
Naomi Dimyani - Rose-Tinted

Renaida - Dansant Ångestattack

Song #5
Hanna Abd-Elsaba - Green Eyes

Brigitte Yaghi - Albi W'Oumri

Song #6
Yona Begrou - Neon Tigers

Alexandra Burke - Elephant

Song #7
Jameela Idham - What's Behind You?

Nina Abdal Malak - Ezza Hajarta

Song #8
Ahmed Shapaseegh - Let It Down

Topic ft. A7S - Breaking Me

Song #9
Miriam Hadani - Alive

Agnes - Goodlife

Song #10
Mashe Menshaq - Bleeding

Sandro - Running

International juries are invited to vote, ranking all entries according to the WorldVision voting system (12, 10 8-1 points). This will be combined with a public vote to determine the representative of Ertzei Kishim at the WorldVision Song Contest.

AMUAPLYE WITHDRAWS FROM 82ND WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST, CONTINUED PARTICIPATION PUT INTO QUESTION

The head of ATV posted an image on Twitter, saying, quote, "We are officially withdrawing from the 82nd WorldVision Song Contest, and it's highly likely that we aren't participating in the 83rd contest. Further consideration will be done, but at this point in time, it's highly unlikely that we will be in the WSC anymore."

The statement went onward, citing reasons such as "A downward trend in the quality of Amuaplyean entries, sacrificing national identity in favor of a series of 7s" (implying that the head of ATV has no part in the internal selection process), "The abject failure of our entries in the past 3 editions, with our worst result ever being merely 2 editions ago.", and "The fact that we are, for lack of a better term, mediocre at best, downright making the audience wish they were deaf at worst."

He ended the statement, saying "Much more deserving nations need the titles, like Darkmania and Mr. X. We're simply standing in the way of other's success."

I just need a break. I'll be back soon, just consider this an over-dramatic flounce, and nothing more. If you really feel like talking to me, TG me.

I'm a dude.
Also, call me Amuaplye, not Amuapyle, or Amu.

Who will it be? You choose!

Despite placing 6th place in WorldVision 81, Scotatrova received its highest amount of points to date at the contest. The success of the internal selection of Diego Pousa has led many to speculate that the SSTR would do so again, especially with the abrupt return of Scotatrova to the contest and its cancellation of its National Final last edition. However, Ll'acteade Scotatrofina eu Cançis returns as Scotatrova's selection method for WorldVision 82, albeit with an updated format. Ll'acteade Scotatrofina eu Cançis will now be expanded to include 10 songs instead of the previous five, and is divided into two semi-finals, which 5 songs in each. A mix of domestic/international voters will rank their favorite song in each semi, and the top three in each will move on to a six-song final. In the final, the domestic/international juries will then come together and vote for the song that will represent Scotatrova at WorldVision 82.
(To vote, rank your favorites in each semi from 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 points for your least to most liked songs via TG or Discord DM. Voting for the semis end on May 2.)
