Yes, SWEN Uses a player coach, but Dekker and HC Frank Kavinski were members of the SWEN team that played in the IBC 17 tourniment, while didn't do terribly well there the aging player coaches will try and right some wrongs along the way and make this run more successful than the one from 24 years ago.

TWO TIME CHAMPS ARE BACK

Postby Drawkland » Sun Apr 26, 2020 3:34 pm

DRAWKLAND NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM (NET CORPS)

CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 25
CHAMPIONS, International Basketball Championships 28

Name: Net Corps
Colors: Black with Crimson trim
Denonyms: Drawkian or Drawkish, personal preference
ELEVENTH IBC, Rank #3
Head Coach: Cody Morgan
Assistant Coach: Sally Hardin
Assistant Coach: Tom Chalk

Basketball is an avid sport in Drawkland, with huge cheering crowds and near-constantly playing pep bands the norm. If you've never been to a basketball game in Drawkland, you may want to bring a pair of earplugs. Or two. You'll need them.

As you may notice, the Drawkian team is sorta massive, as far as height goes. This is perfectly natural for Drawkians, as the national height average is 7'5" (they're not related to humans evolutionarily besides the shape and proportions and such). They also may seem like they're "middle-aged," but that's wrong. In fact, most professional Drawkian athletes don't retire until around the age of 50, since the average lifespan is around 150.

After having their best group stage in their history in IBC 24, the Net Corps went on to get annihilated in the Round of 16 for the fifth straight time (once by Royal Kingdom of Quebec, once by Vangaziland, once Abaja, once by Ceni, and now once by Banija). Finally, they decided they weren't going to take no for an answer. A decade of playoff disappointment took a heel-turn as the Corps made an unprecedented run to the championship game. Drawkland won the game in convincing fashion to Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and finally claimed the title of IBC Champions.

While they lost in the semifinals of IBC 26 to the team they defeated in the previous semifinals, Newmanistan, they still had the skill to make a deep playoff run. And that they did, by making it to the finals of IBC 27 against Vangaziland. Unfortunately, Vangaziland was the outright better squad and took the series in two straight games. The Net Corps was far from out of the mix, though. Despite the short format and taking a loss in the group stage, Drawkland stormed through the IBC 28 playoffs and defeated Vangaziland by 30 points in the final to capture their second title.

For the Net Corps, the Drawkian International Sporting Council (DISC) hand-picked team members, some high performers from last edition, a couple different all-star club players, and even a few collegiate players who REALLY shined in the NSCAA. The team is co-ed, and even the coaches are specifically selected now.

Group Stage Venue
Since IBC 29's group stage is held in a home-away format, Drawkland will be hosting their home matches at The Ring, in Metropolon. Nestled inside the massive and perfectly symmetrical grid of the pre-planned capital city, The Ring plays host to the Metropolon Towers pro team, and Metropolon City College's basketball teams. Covered in neon lights inside and out, The Ring is one of the most beautiful arenas in Drawkland. At least, if you like futuristic architecture. If you're a more traditionalist guy, maybe not as much.

At 50k, The Ring is pretty big for a Drawkian basketball stadium (though understandably massive for non-Drawkian citizens). It may feel cavernous, but when it's filled by tens of thousands of Drawkian fans, it'll be hard to hear yourself think.

Presents The National Team for IBC XXIX

Image

Basketball is the most popular sport in Hudson Islands, Auguste du Nord and Agosto del Sud, and whilst it is popular in the former Marianne, the national team is largely made up of players from the former Placid States. In fact, whilst Alexandre Marchand and Luka Kjaer are Mariannois and two of the sport's biggest stars, they are the only two members of the team from Marianne. There has been some political and linguistic tension around basketball specifically due to this variance in enthusiasm, so a strong performance in IBC XXIX would do a world of good for national unity.

SQUAD:

GUARDS:
LUKA KJAER- Trevona BC, 6'2, 200 lbs- Simply put, a superstar. Led Trevona to their first title in decades and has few weaknesses in his game, averaging an absurd 29.8 PPG/9.0 APG/8.0 RPG and at just 22 years old there's no reason to think he's done improving. He is neither very tall nor strong, so should he bulk up it's hard to imagine there being a flaw in his game. Kjaer takes most of his shots from beyond the arc and makes them at a pretty good clip, and despite his slight frame is adept at taking it to the hole. Kjaer is, as all Donnaconan basketball fans are now sick of hearing, a first generation Donnaconan son of Polarian immigrants, so he's uniquely suited to be the unifying star of the sport at the moment.

DAMIEN LABONTÉ- Trevona BC, 6'2, 224 lbs- From Auguste du Nord, Labonté is Kjaer's club backcourt mate and has freakishly similar statistics- he averages over 30 points per game for his career. He is willing to take mid-range shots that are going out of fashion in modern basketball but is good enough at them it doesn't even matter- and at the international level opposing teams unfamiliar with his style may not expect it. Labonté is an excellent perimeter defender who was fourth in defensive win shares among guards in the LDB (former PlacidBasket) last year.

MARIO SANTERAMO- Stratford Storm, 6'7, 219 lbs- From Agosto del Sud, the 33 year old Santeramo is an all-arounder whose numbers are less gaudy than those of Kjaer and Labonté but still has a tremendous reputation as a defender and is incredibly fast off the dribble. Santeramo will get more minutes against teams who have a star who shoots a lot of threes.

TANEMAHUTA GOLDSMITH- Outremont Étoiles, 6'8, 221 lbs- From Hudson Islands, Goldsmith has been a revelation, his huge body more like a conventional forward but his speed and crisp passing are all point guard. His physical gifts are considerable, and he can be used to defend positions 1-4 easily.

JOJO ALLEN- Marianopolis Huskies, 6'6, 229 lbs- From Hudson Islands, something of a wildcard. Allen is 32 and still among the league's most complete offensive players- nearly averaging a double-double over his career. He's greatly improved his shot selection to become a brutally efficient scorer, and he is an extraordinary playmaker as well. However, Allen simply doesn't try on defence, and has earned a reputation as a coach killer as a result. He's been brought to score buckets in bunches, potentially late in the game.

FORWARDS:
JAHJESH SINGH- Botley Bulls, 6'9, 251 lbs- From Hudson Islands, probably the all-time most famous athlete from the Hudson Islands, but at 37 has only a few years left as an elite competitor. That he still is one at all is a miracle in and of itself. He's done it all and won it all outside of international play, so he was a natural for the side. He averaged 33.9 PPG and 9.3 APG last season even still and is a tremendously adroit ballhandler. He's more of a swingman so especially when on the floor with the likes of Kjaer and Labonté, they may play something resembling positionless basketball.

KELLY DOUGLAS III- Patriotes de Toureuil, 6'4, 228 lbs- From Hudson Islands, the 26 year old is an unusual and controversial choice, his skills are seemingly deteriorating from some brilliant seasons at the beginning of his career. He performed brilliantly in the two exhibitions against Quebec and earned his way into the team, and since Patriotes missed the playoffs last year he hasn't played as much basketball as some of the others. His presence on the team will be controversial, especially since head coach Nicolo Curare seems to intend to start him. This is a make or break moment for Douglas for sure.

ANTONELLO CIUFO- Charlottetown Mastodons, 6'10, 250 lbs- From Agosto del Sud, a powerful player who loves to get to the hole and who is so strong and fast, he's very difficult to guard and a brilliant defender himself. He averaged 22.9 points last year and was second team all defensive last year, putting up a top 5 Defensive Rating. If Kelly Douglas is given some big starting minutes, expect Ciufo to finish games more often.

TELVIN LOPEZ- Manchester Tigers, 7'0, 260 lbs- From Hudson Islands, The 22 year old big man is one of the rising stars of Donnaconan basketball and one of the game's best rebounders, averaging 10.3 a game last season.

JABARI MASON- Manchester Tigers, 6'2, 224 lbs- From Hudson Islands, More of a swingman, Mason is a tremendous "3-and-D" type player who also rebounds extraordinarily well.

CENTRES:
ALEXANDRE MARCHAND- Marianopolis Huskies, 6'10, 247 lbs- From Marianne, a great young player but perhaps more famous because he's local to Marianopolis playing for the Huskies. Marchand is a matchup nightmare, as he can shoot threes and stretch the floor whilst also defending 3-4 positions. He averaged 24.7 PPG/14.3 RPG last season and also is a tremendous free throw shooter, shooting 90.4% from the line.

EVAN WATSON- Summerside Jets, 6'11, 260 lbs- From Hudson Islands, the defending league MVP and possibly the best player in Donnaconan basketball, he suffered from patellar tendinitis and missed most of the playoffs and is not necessarily 100% healthy. Of course, a player of that talent has to be brought to this tournament, although he may end up with limited minutes. He averaged a ludicrous 40.4 PPG and 13.5 RPG last season and along with MVP he was both the Defensive Player of the Year and Leading Scorer. If he has a single weakness it is that he had a poor turnover/assist ratio, although he's not necessarily paid to be a distributor.

Home games will be played at either the Hudbank Arena in Botley, Hudson Islands or Arena Elettricagosto in Trevona, Agosto del Sud, which hosted the recent IUBC Final Four.

Starting Lineup
PG #2 Amadou Secka. 6'3. 33 years old. Can create his own shot, very quick. Almost automatic from the free throw line. Star player for the Summerside Jets in the Donnacona Basketball Association. Has lost a step physically, but still the team's fearless leader. Captain.
SG #5 Saihou Uster. 6'4. 30 years old. Runs around like crazy, relentless motor. Team's best perimeter defender, team's best spot up shooter. Is a poor isolation player and struggles to create his own shot.
SF #23 Wassa Itraba. 6'6. 34 years old. A poor outside shooter, but quality rebounder, ball handler, and very skilled at taking the ball to the rim. With his age, his offensive abilities have taken a step back but his defensive have taken a step forward, as many say he's essentially the "quarterback" of the Banijan defense.
PF #4 Labanzi Nabongo. 6'7. 29 years old. Third IBC appearance, first as starter. Starred for the Manchester Tigers in the Donnaconna Basketball Association, finishing First-Team All-League, averaging a stunning 35 points per night. Taking over as the team's primary scorer.
C #10 Sadio Bartaba. 6'11. 28 years old. Third IBC appearance, second as a starter. The team's best rebounder and most physical player- the emotional heart of this team.

Bench
PG #3 Ibezimako Akabueze. 6'1. 25 years old. Team's 6th man. Second IBC appearance. Led University of Moravica to appearance in NSCAA 10 Championship Game. Known for quick transition plays. Plays for the Outreomt Étoiles in the Donnacona Basketball Association.
C #13 Azmera Gulema. 7'1. 23 years old. Rookie in Banija's professional basketball league. Big rebounder, physical rim protector.
PG/SG #12 Janko Jawo. 6'5. 31 years old. Third IBC appearance. Highly energetic, quality perimeter defender. An offensive liability.
SF #14 Ezekiel Bullo. 6'7, 22 years old. Strong small forward capable of getting to the rim almost at will. He's a crazy good athlete, but he's on the bench because he has poor shot selection, often far too willing to jack up bad shots early in the shot clock. Still young, however, and the heir apparent to starting at the 3.
PF/C #9 Antouman Ceesay. 6'11. 22 years old. Star player for Kizza I College in NSCAA 11. First IBC appearance.
SG #7 Ebrahima Faye. 6'5. 19 years old. Banija's highest rated basketball recruit coming out of high school. Star player for University of Moravica in NSCAA 11. First IBC appearance.

The Closeout lineup is the same as the starting lineup.

Notes:
- We almost always play a 1-3-1 zone defense. It works well with this team, which has lots of size, and is getting faster, especially at guard.
- This team is built very different from past teams. They space the floor much better, and though Itraba is a ball stopper, they have spread the floor with a lot of players who can hit jumpers, especially three pointers. They also like to play fast.
- This team will run at almost any chance they get. While rebounding, especially on defense, is the team's weakest link, when they do get a rebound, they are able to push the ball, and so quickly.
- For the group stages, this team's rotation runs 10-12 deep, as they will almost certainly shorten the rotation to 8 players come the knockout stages. But for now, he wants to get everybody playing time, and give the starters rest for the later stages of this tournament.

Recent History
The recent history of the national basketball team, or the Lions, has to start with Banija’s return to the international fray in the 24th IBCs- when they first made a name for themselves on the international stage. With Alonzo Busk hired as the head coach, and their play centered around their star front court players, the pair of 7’2 foot twin brothers, this was a team that won with a front court based game. The two were quality free throw shooters for their size, of course, and they stunned everyone in the IBCs by even getting out of their group, finishing with a 7-3 record in IBC 24 after starting 0-2.

They then made a deep run into the tournament, until they ran into the buzzsaw of St.Kanye- who beat them in the semifinals en route to their third IBC championship in a row. Running into one of the sport’s all-time great teams, things seemed to be looking up for the Lions. And then, came IBC 25- the first time they truly faced disappointment. On home soil, in a tournament co-hosted with Filindostan, they went 10-0 In the group stages, emerging as a favorite to cut down the nets in Filindostan. However, for them, they ran into Drawkland, who stunned Banijan fans by pasting the Lions by 20 on their home floor, en route to winning the tournament themselves.

After that, the team got their first major trophy- winning the Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games for the men. That gave them hope flying into IBC 26, and they did well in that tournament, winning their group for the second straight tournament, this time from Pot 2, and getting into the knockouts. They ran into the defending champs, Drawkland, in the quarterfinals, and that was the end of the run for the Lions.

Three IBCs, three knockout stage appearances, three knockout victories- not a bad run for Alonzo Busk. But it was all a disaster at the Olympics. They went 3-3 in the group stages at the Republica Olympiad, the Savaneh twins swan song with the Lions. And that was it for that iteration of the squad. The Savaneh twins retired, and Alonzo Busk, the head coach, resigned after the Olympiad, saying that it was time for a new era of Banijan basketball to commence.

And IBC 27 was the beginning of the new era. With a new head coach in Isaiah Lavaga, they run a different kind of offense entirely- the team running through a pair of quick, quality guards. They shoot a ton of 3s, and try to stretch the floor- almost the opposite of teams past. And with their #4 ranking in the IBC standings, the expectations for this team are extremely high- with even Lavaga himself saying that anything less than a quarterfinal appearance, with the talent on this team, would be ‘a failure’. This team, though almost getting eliminated in the Round of 16, won four in a row over Valanora and the Royal Kingdom of Quebec(respectively), to run into the Vannish buzzsaw in the semifinals.

The IBC 27 Semifinals, going into which Banija had so much hope, was humbling. Vangaziland is clearly a cut above the rest of the multiverse in terms of basketball skill, and they will be the measuring stick, as the Lions hope to do what the national soccer team did to Vilita- prevent them from winning a third consecutive championship. IBC 28 was another strong start for the Banijans in what was a surprisingly short tournament- just 3 group stage games. They won all their group stage games, and their Round of 16 game to boot, before being upset by the Free Republics in the Quarterfinals.

The team's expectation, of course, is the semifinals. Many think they're kidding themselves- their lost in the IBC 28 Quarters to the Free Republics was humbling, and their group at this tournament is absolutely brutal. However, Lavaga still has high standards for himself and the squad. Can they reach them?

It has been more than a decade since the Andromeda Eagles played in an International Basketball Championship. Since Coach Al Gooden’s team cut down the nets in IBC 19, the Eagles have been absent from International Basketball. Now that they are back, let’s look at this edition of the Andromeda Eagles.

Like their team in IBC 9, the Eagles will feature an all-female squad, led by Head Coach Steevie Payton. Payton led the Syracuse Lady Commodores to their first Andromeda Women’s League Title in 2020. Her Assistant Coaches are Joppa Jaguars Head Coach Julia Gallo and Portsmouth Head Coach Annie DeSilva. The coaches of the top three teams in the Andromeda Women’s League will join forces and coach 15 of the best female basketball players in the Allied States.

Here are some quick points about each player:

CENTERS

#10 Jane Russell – Syracuse

The youngest member of the 2020 Eagles, Jane Russell has established herself in the paint, averaging 18 ppg.

#11 Melissa Long – Joppa Lady Jaguars

The consummate finesse player in the paint, the aptly named Melissa Long made over 60% of her shots last season.

#12 Shawanda Brownlee – Portsmouth

One of the most feared centers in the league, Shawanda Brownlee isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint.

POWER FORWARDS

#20 Odessa Paige – Syracuse

Rookie Odessa Paige has won a collegiate title and a WBL Title in the past two years.

#21 Quick Tillis – Joppa Lady Jaguars

Known for her quickness on the court and her rapid-fire delivery off the court, Leslie Tillis is also a rapper.

SMALL FORWARDS

#30 Rosie Johnson – Angeles City

The oldest player on the Andromeda Eagles, veteran forward Rosie Johnson led the WBL in scoring last season.

#31 Jane Kano – Joppa Lady Steelers

One of the smartest players in Andromedan basketball, Jane Kano is pursuing a Master’s Degree at U. of Joppa.

SHOOTING GUARDS

#40 Hattie Williams – Syracuse

Along with Jane Russell, Hattie Williams won a collegiate Championship in 2018 & a WBL Title in 2020.

#41 Peg Harper – Joppa Lady Jaguars

A clutch shooter, Peg Harper scored 30 points in the Semifinal series finale against Silla.

#42 Sadie Smith - Silla

In her rookie season, Sadie Smith turned a previously winless Silla squad to within a basket of the WBL Finals.

#43 Ruby Jordan – East Portsmouth

Ruby Jordan’s last second shot helped the Lady Admirals clinch the final spot in the WBL Playoffs.

POINT GUARDS

#50 Gigi Flores – Joppa Lady Jaguars

Genevieve Flores helped the Lady Jags to win the WBL Title in 2019. They made the Final Series three straight years.

#51 Kelly Waters - Syracuse

The League leader in assists, Kelly Waters helped the Lady Commodores to their first WBL Title in 2020.

#52 Liv Stuckey – Portsmouth

The league leader in free throw percentage, Liv Stuckey made 75 consecutive free throws over 13 games last season.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM

This will be Abanhfleft's fifteenth time participating in the International Basketball Championships. It's the end of an era as Abanhfleft's old stars are now bowing out of the international stage (and some of them are even bowing out of the FBA as well), paving the way for new and rising stars to take their places and hopefully bring massive and much-needed improvements to the team's performances. Really, the old guard should have moved on maybe a few years earlier, but they all thought that they still had what it takes, but IBC 26 finally proved both to them and to everyone else that they don't got it. But how about this new batch? What do they bring to the table? And what can they bring back to the Democratic Republic at the end of this tournament?

HOME STADIUM (The Fleftic Arena, Riuwiee)
Image
Presenting the Fleftic Arena, the largest indoor arena by seating capacity in the Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft

Situated in the north of Abanhfleft's capital city of Riuwiee is the National Sports Park, a 140-hectare "special national designated area" in which a majority of Riuwiee's sporting facilities are located. Standing out among the stadia and gymnasia is the massive and imposing structure and flat roof of the Fleftic Arena, officially the largest indoor stadium in the whole of Abanhfleft with its official stated capacity of 100,786 seated spectators for indoor sports. The structure broke ground on September 26, 2009 as part of the capital city's reconstruction efforts following the aftermath of the Holy Catholic Revolution of 2008 which left nearly the entirety of Riuwiee devastated, and construction was completed over three years later in 2012. The Fleftic Arena is the official home arena of the Abanhfleft national basketball team and has played host to dozens of matches during the International Basketball Championships. Aside from that, the Riuwiee Presidents of the Fleftic Basketball Association occasionally uses the Fleftic Arena as its home stadium when it plays marquee match-ups against well-known teams from the league such as the Malabon Black Ops or the Markovsky Red Army, taking advantage of the arena's huge capacity when the capacity of their usual home stadium, the Sterling Arena, is deemed to be not enough for games of such popularity. Aside from that, the Fleftic Arena has also played host to at least four FBA All-Star Weekends since its inauguration and opening in 2012.

As for the stadium's location, Riuwiee is the capital city of Abanhfleft and is home to over 20 million people. The Fleftic people are very crazy and passionate about basketball, and even though their home side the Riuwiee Presidents has been disappointing in the FBA as of late, the fans still come out in droves to support and cheer for their team.

About the Nation & Basketball

Mkabia is a small, coastal nation which comes out of a series of devastating civil wars. The economy is tattered and the sense of unity damaged but sports have played their part in the slowly starting redevelopment of the country. Whilst football is the national pastime, basketball makes a serious case for being the number two in the billboards. Especially in the rain season, the focus shifts to the courts, although the big cities have numerous small squares and rings where youngsters hone their skills and dream of going pro. Especially as Mkabia has a young but thriving MBL, a basketball league with twelve teams and a growing level of play. Growing, but not bulking. Two participations to the IUBC did not see them get past the group stage yet and many would be surprised if this happens on this tournament.

About the Manager

In a nation where everyone above the age of fifteen considers himself a potential candidate for the role of boss of the Lions (as goes the fairly uninspired nickname), it’s strangely harder to find a suitable candidate to take up the position of national manager. So somehow, they decided to not bother about being suitable but just go with the one who would be able to present the best image. Beiya Koanda earned his stripes in the sport as a player but never really made his marks as a manager. Nonetheless, he’s an appreciated figure in the media as a sympathetic yet outspoken opinion leader – many wonder how much of that status will be left after this adventure. One thing towards his advantage: the public considers a next round in a group with Quebec and Filindostan rightly as a mission impossible, so he might get away with mixed results as long as he can assure some victories against fellow novice nations.

About the Team

#09 PG Abdou Sangaré 26y Kada Rebels
#16 PG Aliou Bakary 24y Yourougou Royals
#18 PG Salim Tamboura 24y Djalenga Titans

Abdou Sangaré kicks off the starting line-up after a season which saw him take a next step in his career. The title victory from the Rebels under his inspired command got him indefinitely in that small inner circle of the absolute best of Mkabian basketball. Being 1m79, he’s the shortest member of the selection and some claim he can get bullied out. But Sangaré has the vision to turn the course of a game, combined with a lot of focus and sense of duty. If he would zone out, there is an adequate replacement in Aliou Bakary, an archetypal playmaker and motivator. Of the two, Bakary might be the best technically and on his day, he’s an unstoppable force but he can be sloppy at times. Rounding up the selection, Tamboura will act as a relief player and to gain experience for the future.

#08 SG Francois Diabaté 29y Massagui Dragons
#19 SG Mamane Sankoh 28y Kouarou Gold

Some claim this is the weakest position in the Mkabian starting five and that is quite unfair on François Diabaté. The main man of the Dragons can find the tiniest of spaces and combines that with a clear shot – his amount of swishes is testimonial to that. But he’s also a proud and stubborn man, which makes his relation with Coulibaly a difficult thing to manage, as has been proved by the all-star games where he didn’t excel. It might make the manager turn to Mamane Sankoh, a remarkably bulky player who comes off a difficult season with his team. After surprisingly making the finals in 2020, Kouarou Gold fell flat and Sankoh couldn’t turn it around. Will the fresh air of the Lions revive his skill or has he been oversold?

#03 SF Kanfory Mawuena 27y Garo Leopards
#10 SF Fodé Sangaré 31y Inter Garo
#14 SF Bourama Maiga 24y Kada Rebels

Beiya Koanda got a lot of stick for his choices in this part of the selection and it’s not too hard to see why: no Gerard Sory, the silent force behind Royals, no Dagano who took a next step with the Dragons. The coach keeps his trust in Kanfory Mawuena of the mediocre Leopards. It must be said that Mawuena has a stellar partnership with Coulibaly and the two can find one another telepathically but after his departure from the Titans for wage reasons, he hasn’t yet been able to make his mark as before. A hard worker, but he will be followed up close by fans and press to prove himself especially as there are two highly motivated understudies. Fodé Sangaré from city rivals Inter Garo has the passing and the infiltrations but misses consistency. That’s why many look to Bourama Maiga, current title holder with his Rebels and a player who grows every year – his play-offs were so good he could land a starting spot just by virtue of his form.

#01 PW Hervé Coulibaly 33y Djalenga Titans
#12 PW Adama Fornah 20y Etoile Tangbou

The King and the Prince – sometimes nicknames tell you everything you need to know about someone. Hervé Coulibaly is the defining force of Mkabian basketball and the only reason that he only holds the last two editions of the MVP trophy is that there have only been two of those going around. He’s tall, strong, clever, cocky and dominates the game. Whilst his might is recognized and respected domestically, even if the years start to take their toll, observers wonder if he can bring the same to the international scene. In his shadow, Adama Fornah is eager to take over the crown even if their personalities couldn’t be further apart: Fornah avoids the press, is modest and quiet and at times struggled to exert his dominance – despite playing for an unheralded team that leaves him all room to develop. But he’s also a force of nature and a talented scorer for whom the sky is the limit.

#05 C Daouda Condé 22y Djalenga Titans
#15 C Ousmane Suma 21y Jeunesse Massagui

No Yago and no Boni – Koanda decided to leave the really big boys at home and give his trust to two young guns with a bit more technical skills. An admirable decision but will these youngsters have the cunning, the slyness and the brute power to survive the battles under the ring? If one has, it must be Daouda Condé. He has become a cornerstone for the Djalenga Titans – arguably the best Mkabian team – by now, so smoothly that one tends to forget he’s still only 22. His development, from a bit clumsy to very reliable, deserves praise and shows his professional ways. And don’t be mistaken, he’s powerful enough to make his mark. Ousmane Suma is a bit of a surprise call-up but could fit in a scheme where one plays a fast passing game. Some tend to call him a unicorn with whom you can play small ball, others see him as not powerful enough to carry the national team.

Oh, look, another major sport that TJUN-ia is debuting in. We get it. You've had enough of these "TJUN-ia enters a new sport" post on your local TV network. But we have to do this if we want to succeed in any sport, especially a sport like basketball.

Basketball is, apparently, the easiest sport to pick up. All you need is a ball and a hoop and you're ready to go. But to play this sport professionally it takes the right genetics and the rights skills. With the intention of providing platforms for future TJUN-ians to prosper with, the BFT has searched the collegiate and semi-professional game to find players that can be a potential cinderella in IBC 29. The coaches, assembled on mass and sent with the team (as per usual), will try to bring some hope to the future of basketball in the International Community. With home games involved before the knock-out rounds in Equestria, the aim of the game is to get as far as possible.

TEAM CASSADAIGUA- IBC 29

OOC Note: The reason the team is so young is not because of any age restrictions I am self imposing. As I get back into the IBC, I am using players that I have had participate in recent editions of the NSCAA tournament instead of creating older players out of the blue now. Eventually, I will hope to develop some continuity in my basketball rosters as I plan on entering this regularly now. (It also conveniently provides a justification as to why they may not be as good this time around since we are unranked).IC-ly, you can simply say we have opted for the younger roster if you want to reference this fact.

Head Coach: Kelsey Jackson, 47

Starters:
PG: #3- Tara Hamby, 22 (6'1") College: University of Northbury

Team Valladares Roster
International Basketball Championships 29 - Team Info
Presented by the Valladar Basketball Association

About Valladar Basketball:

Basketball is Valladares' second most popular sport by number of players and registered clubs, behind association football which is the most popular sport by far. Even though there is such a massive gap between both in terms of exposure and marketing, basketball has slowly gained momentum, especially between the young population, and has started receiving more attention from both the media and sponsors, which has helped reduce that gap. The establishment and consolidation of the Liga Superior de Baloncesto as Valladares' professional basketball league has also helped to the growth of the sport in the nation as the league's top clubs have established the Valladar league as one of the leading basketball leagues in the multiverse with their outstanding international performances. The sport is overseen by the Valladar Basketball Association (Asociación Valladar de Baloncesto or AVB in Spanish), which is sending its national team to this IBC edition in the hopes that it will make a decent showing and will take a new step towards establishing Valladares as a powerhouse of international basketball, just like it is at club level already.

Kriegiersien National Team (Basketball)

As always playing in black.

For the Kriegiersien Sports Federation the International Basketball Championships are the chance to prepare the Basketball teams for the next Olympics.
As in Volleyball both the men's and women's team were nominated to show their skills as a unified team. How they make the lineup was left to the coaches.

After the disaster in the IUB the president seized the opportunity to place some more of the players from clubs from capital Schoenwetter in the national squad. Most of the players are humans, but Orcs and Elves from champion Ancient Tomb showed too much promise to be ignored.
With Ivory Fire even a pony got a place in the squad. Some called her a token player, like Bigtopian Immigrant Ivana Condor, but her scoring record in an elsewhere mediocre club suggests otherwise.

Johanna Laetitia
Arvid Florine

Assistant Coaches:
Lorrin Ryder

NEWMANISTAN ROCKETS

“Two Time IBC Champions”

Basketball in Newmanistan: Basketball has a solid following in Newmanistan, though the fans are drawn to the college level a little moreso then the pros. It’s popularity is regional in nature, with the Loudon area in northeast Newmanistan being the most fanatical towards the sport. This is a competition that Newmanistan had success in back in the day, winning both IBC 4 and 5. That was a long time ago, but the Empire has been on the right track since its return, making the playoffs in their return in IBC 23, then taking a run at Saint Kanye in IBC 24. The progression has continued, making it to semifinals in IBC 25, then the final in IBC 26. We know what should be next in line, right?

Basketball is played differently in Newmanistan. There is an additional line behind the three-point line that serves as a four-point line. Shots behind the half-court line are worth six points. Players are taught how to shoot from longer then expected distances at a young age, so they will have a higher level of success at these shots in comparison to those who have not routinely practiced them. Be aware of this in the IBC, because while the four-point line will not exist in the tournament, our players are comfortable putting up shots from distances that you’re team might not be used to having to tightly defend. They are unlikely to put up shots from beyond the half court line, though, in this tournament. The big key to remember is that within the halfcourt, be expecting a shot from anywhere.

Coach: James Parsons, 67 (Loudon Leopards)
– Parsons has announced that this will be his last coaching venture for any team as he retiring. He is resigning from the team after the tournament, and has also declared that he is not returning to the Leopards.

Uniforms: Envision the uniforms of the University of North Carolina as the best comparison.

Starting Five:

Image SF: Lucas Bennerman, 25 (6'8", Centralia Firebirds) (#33)
Image PF: Brian Danielson, 31 (6'9", Tundra Falls Mariners) (#30)
Image C: Byron Storm, 32 (7'2", Olympia Gladiators) (#55)
Image SG: Warren Peyser, 24 (5'11", Southport Tigers) (#23)
Image PG: Travis Warden, 27 (6'2", Loudon Leopards) (#22)

– This is the first time that any of the players in the starting five have been in this role, but Danielson, Storm, and Warden have all been a part of the roster and have come off the bench. As we are open to using our bench more then most probably do, this meant that they still had considerable playing time. Peyser is an all around juggernaut, exciting people all across the Empire. He will put it up from anywhere, and leads Newmanistan in four-point shooting percentage, so if you are playing us, I highly suggest guarding him tightly as soon as we cross half court. Storm is obviously the big rebounder, but don’t snooze on Bennerman doing the same. He is very productive for the team.

Bench:
Image F: Shaquan Bateman, 24 (6'8", Tundra Falls Mariners) (#44)
Image F: Marquis Scott, 25 (6'6", Loudon Leopards) (#35)
Image C: Donavan Freeney, 23 (7'2", Pocono City Capitals) (#55)
Image G: Dwayne Murray, 30 (6'4", Putnam Lake Eagles) (#4)
Image G: Kevin McCarrick, 22 (6'2", Jessicaville Millionaires) (#5)
Image Utility: Duvie Fayette, 23 (6'1", Jessicaville Millionaires) (#25)

– All of these players are stars at home as well, so they should not be considered “bench players” like you may consider such players on a real-world NBA team. They are simply more reinforcements of players who are all able to play at a very high level. Therefore, coach Parsons will not hesitate on using them, and giving them a fair amount of minutes as well. These players will get quite a bit of playing time, too. Bateman and Murray are a very exciting players, there is simply no room for them in the starting lineup. When he’s used, there is no let down.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my Scorers: Yes
Choose Scoring Events: Yes
Godmod Scoring Events: Yes
RP Injuries to my Players: Yes, but only say they are hurt. I will determine the severity.
Godmod Injuries to my Players: No
Godmod Other Events: No

Also: While you are free to say any of my players “foul out”, keep in mind that the bench does get considerable playing time, too, so players in early foul trouble will likely be on the bench for longer stretches. This doesn’t mean they won’t foul out, but if you go that route in RP, you might want to add in caveats that the coach did try to manage his foul trouble at times.

Home Game Schedule:
MD2 vs Juvencus (@ Tundra Falls Proving Grounds, Tundra Falls)
MD5 vs Trolleborg (@ Emperor Michael I Arena, Pocono City)
MD6 vs Kita-Hinode (@ The Jungle, Loudon)
MD8 vs Puppeted States (@ Empress Jessica I Arena, Jessicaville)
MD9 vs Nova Roma (@ Gladiator Arena, Olympia)

Jersey is green with black stripes, or black with green stripes, and says "The Nuclear Fallouts" on it.

Edit: A newly made stadium named "The Bunker" has been made, in the place of a rundown bunker. With a maximum occupancy of 20,000 people, and a $2 to watch a game, or a $40 season pass, will make the basketball team be able to improve in the future.

Commissioner: Welcome all to the NKBL draft lottery announcement, today we will announce the draft order. We will start at the number 1 pick.
Congratulations.... Lismore! Lismore will take the number 1 pick and get the first selection in the draft next week.
The team with the number 2 pick will be... Kempsey! Congratulations to Kempsey!
The team with the number 3 pick will be... Yamba! That is the first large surprise of the draft today!
The team with the number 4 pick will be... Ballina! Surprisingly Purple Town has not received their pick yet.
The team with the number 5 pick will be... Purple Town! Purple Town had a 1-13 record last year
The team with the number 6 pick will be... Gold Coast! Gold Coast 6-8 record last year
The team with the number 7 pick will be... Coffs!
The team with the number 8 pick will be... Murwelldobah!

Okay now that concludes the NKBL drat lottery this year now onto the experts mock draft.

Pick 1: Joe Green, he is only the third player ever to go straight from high school to the pros. He is a Combo Guard.
Pick 2: Oluwasegun Tionge, he is a 7-4 center from the Banija neighborhood of Gold Coast.
Pick 3: Greg Cox, an athletic power forward from Ballina community college, he lacks size but has a great shooting touch
Pick 4: Frank Hughes, he is a 5-11 Point Guard and he a great shot and an amazing crossover
Pick 5: Kaulana Akoni this small forward from the north New South Wales has great basketball IQ, he was a 2 time high school All-Welsh Forward
Pick 6: Knox Blythe, Knox is a center who is very athletic for his size however lacks strength. He also competed in the high jump at Akers State
Pick 7: Grant Reyes, Reyes would be a great pick for Coffs because he has the good shooting that the team lacks. If Coffs picks him he will play Point Guard there.
Pick 8: Perry Hill, perry is a great defender who might fall to the second round because of his size, he is 6-7 but still plays power forward.

RP Permissions
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Anything: Yes - So long as you don't do anything stupid that I'd have a serious objection to, such as portraying my players as being evil, insane, stupid, or killing/seriously injuring them. Teams from Equestria are generally clean, meaning they don't cheat and try to avoid fouls if possible. If you've got any questions, shoot me a TG.
