Cryptids are creatures whose existence is not proven. Examples include Sasquatch, Yeti, Loch Ness Monster, Champ, the Kraken, giant 40+ foot anacondas that allegedly live deep in the Amazon rain forest, tarantulas as big as people that allegedly live deep in the jungles of South America and Africa, chupacabra, Mothman, and Jersey Devil.

Some people believe that cryptids are not real, some firmly believe that they exist, and some simply consider themselves open-minded to the possibility. While most cryptids have very little evidence beyond anecdotes to support their existence, the fact is that this is a very big world and I do think that it is possible for a something that is rare or obscure enough to slip under the radar and remain undiscovered. After all, the colossal squid, frilled shark, platypus, and even the giant tortoise were all originally thought to be just myths and tall tales and are now known to be real creatures.

While I personally do not believe in any particular cryptid, I am open to the possibility that some may be real undiscovered animals.

What about you? Are there any cryptids that you believe in or do you have something related to cryptids you would like to talk about?

The only one that I really consider to be a possibility is the Chupacabra. I love in that area, and I have seen animals from a long distance while I’m hunting that are a little larger than a coyote, jet black, and move fast. Is it a chupacabra? A Mexican wolf? A coy wolf? A subspecies of coyote? I don’t know, but I have seen enough to be open to the idea of it being real in some form. And I’m always open to the possibility of new animals that were previously considered myth to be real, I just don’t think most “cryptids” are.

The only one that I really consider to be a possibility is the Chupacabra. I love in that area, and I have seen animals from a long distance while I’m hunting that are a little larger than a coyote, jet black, and move fast. Is it a chupacabra? A Mexican wolf? A coy wolf? A subspecies of coyote? I don’t know, but I have seen enough to be open to the idea of it being real in some form. And I’m always open to the possibility of new animals that were previously considered myth to be real, I just don’t think most “cryptids” are.

The chupacabra is definitely pretty interesting, but there are two different versions of it seems. The first version to be reported was said to be a reptilian-like creature that was 3 to 4 feet tall, a biped, hopped like a kangaroo, had colorful spikes along its back, a canine-like mouth, and large red or green glowing eyes. This version seems to be the one that is reported most in Latin America, Russia, and the Philippines.

The second version is said to just look like a mutated dog which is the one most reported in the United States. This one is easily explainable as either wild hybrid dogs or coyotes infected with mange.

I'm of the general opinion that the majority of them are not real. However, that's not to say we know about all of the species which inhabit our world, so who knows, a few of them (or similar creatures, at least) may well exist.

A population of 8-foot tall apes living in the US countryside is almost certainly false, but a strange creature living in the dark depths of the ocean that we don't know about is far more likely.

Depending on your definition of 'giant', snakes of such a size do reasonably exist. Spiders can't grow beyond a certain size however, at least not with our current atmosphere, without dying of suffocation (I think).

I am a believer of the existence of Bigfoot, or at the very least, open to its existence. I'm also confident that moa were not rendered extinct, and that there's a small population of them living deep in the mountains of Fiordland.

I would love if many of them turned out to be real, but I lack confidence that most are. There are a few I have hopes for, such as extant populations of thylacines.

That's interesting and it certainly be wouldn't surprising to me if Moa and Elephant birds were still living in remote areas.

Some of the Cryptids, in my opinion, are probably animals that hunters misidentified in my opinion, but some of them are very wack that it's hard to believe someone saw an already identified animal and went "OH GOD ITS A DEMON"

I strongly believe that the sightings of the Mothman in the late 1960s in SE Ohio were factual as Keel noted in the Mothman Prophecies...people don't make that stuff up on their own. Bigfeet seem very likely as well and I still have no explanation of the Alien Big Cats.

There are some good stories of one-off cryptids from Tom Slemen's collection of tales based in Liverpool that seem very plausible to me, too. Parasitic grave worms and some thing that lived in a garbage chute.
