Welcome (back) to the NS Parliament RP!

What is this?
This is a character-driven RP in which we roleplay as politicians in a fictional nation. This RP, now the NS Parliament, has origins in the former NSG Senate. We have two simple starting guidelines:

1. We are located in the Southeast Asian island nation of Banduria. We are a republic with a parliamentary system. The nation has a large Chinese population, with a mixed Dutch-Chinese minority and several other minority groups. The details of Banduria as a nation are listed in this Google doc, and I encourage you to read it over to get a good picture on what kind of nation we're roleplaying in.

The rest is up to the players! In this RP, we will legislate and politick, ally and backstab, and so much more! It is your choice what your character will be. Prominent and outspoken? Shady and quiet? Progressive? Conservative? Fascist? Communist? Centrist? Government? Opposition? Crossbencher? Journalist? Activist? The list goes on!

As soon as you submit you application, unless rejected, you become a Member of the (imaginary) Parliament of Banduria. You can then feel free to begin participating in the RP. You can do things like drafting a bill, voting on bills, and joining or creating a political party.

Who's in charge?
Our administrators run the RP and their decisions are final.

Admins: Van Hool Islands, United Provinces of Atlantica, Crylante, Zurkerx, Martune

We don't have strict rules, other than that godmodding is prohibited and our admins are fully in charge.
In the case of rule violations or unacceptable conduct, the offender will be warned. After two admin warnings within a month, disciplinary actions may escalate to a suspension or eventually a ban.

Kathivaran Ramasubramanian arrives on a motorcycle, taking his seat. After dismounting the motorcycle, of course.

Kuang Jun rubbed his hands together as he entered the Chamber. He sat down at his designated seat with a smile.

Floortje pounds on the keys of her 2017 Macbook, wondering why the Twitter numbers won't go up and why she got hacked and sent her own name on Twitter. She then asks a parliamentary aide for help, and the aide explains that she wasn't hacked, she just confused her tweet dialogue box with the search bar.

Kuang Jun snickers to himself watching Floortje struggle to use her own Twitter account.

Susilo Sri adgitatedly declared,

"Wie en waar is de waarnemende spreker ?!"

Zhang Xiaoqing impatiently walked over to the empty Speaker's chair, sat down and cleared her throat. In Dutch, she said, "Order. Members, if no-one has any objection, I will conduct the election for the Speaker."

Willem van Aldenkamp, who was revelling in his evident status as Banduria's favourite politician, swaggered into the chamber, 2013 Nokia Lumia in hand, and sat in the designated Reform Party seating.

He then immediately proceeded to second the motion.

"I cannot, in good faith, turn my back on the good people of my constituency and my country by allowing the same partisan rot which has plagued our government for years continue. I say, Banduria cannot survive rule by this socialist menace. They would undermine the principles and values that have guided our people throughout our great history. I nominate myself for the role of speaker. As a proud Bandurian Tamil, I am not partial to the ethnic strife or socialist malfeasance that may sway and bias the opinions of other candidates. We cannot afford to reward the socialist party for this blatant power grab, ripe for abuse. I call upon my fellow citizens to unite against this menace."

We need someone who knows the problems faced by the people as Speaker. I'm interested in getting things done for Banduria, including working with all parties, not making empty speeches to look cool."
