General Information
Full Nation Name: United Free Associations of Akosa (U.F.A.)
Short Name: Akosa
Population: est. 2-3m
Brief synopsis of your nation: Akosa is a small, landlocked country of autonomous communities. It has successfully endured due to relative geographic isolation and the resilient, adaptable mountain peoples, also known as the Hill Tribes. For generations they lived in the highlands to avoid subjugation by lowland valley states, where they would be enslaved or suppressed. The current Capullist iteration, of this long tradition of self-rule, was started from revolution against the Sika Dwa Empire of the 19th Century. Akosa is considered a stateless society, based around a complex of local clan systems and participatory democracy, drawing heavily from Calpullism.

Culture
What languages are spoken? Azni Twi (lingua franca)
What religions are practiced? 73% Nurab (52% Nyam Nurabi sect)
Brief description of your nation’s culture and history: The Anzi people originally settled the highlands fleeing from prosecution in the south. They became the strongest among the pre-existing Hill Tribes, forming eleven clans.
These Hill Tribes would experience profound religious influence from Nurab outcast, mostly brought by the Anzi. Forming Nyam Nurabi, a Nurab spiritualist school which syncretized indigenous with imported beliefs from the south. The Sika Dwa Empire, rising behind a Nurab helm, centralized in valleys, maintaining limited control over the mountains while forming treaties of safe passage with the Hill Tribes. Throughout the 19th century it aggressively expanded, breaking this established status quo.
Sika Dwa's reign ended with a revolution, a mix of collapse and civil war between Calpullist and Nurabi Theocrats. The Empire could not relieve recent natural disasters and the nobility had suppressed attempted popular assemblies, dissent rose. The Revolutionary Conflict lasted from 1947-1979, the land had long been divided into warring factions, but by 1979 mostly capitulated into statelessness. By 1979, Calpullist CCC-backed militia's overrun the little Nurabi and Imperialist forces left. General Akrofi, with popular support and direct aid from the powerful CCC-aligned Calpullist, was poised to install himself as a dictator, and install the Liberation Army permanently to protect the revolution.
General Akrofi, the hero of the Revolutionary Conflict, was assassinated by political opponents. Revolutionaries who opposed Akrofi's coming rule and a Calpullist state. The UFA evolved from the chaos, constructed around the ideals of mutual aid it was decentralized and officially claimed to be stateless. It expanded through its relief of the central valley, stricken with years of war, drought and isolation. Following the Akrofi era, relations with the CCC were distant and the Liberation Army was dismantled.
Government & Economy
What is the current political situation in your nation? The largest faction, the Nsase De Ho, spans the most communities across the country, wanting to maintain local clan political power and structure, striving to protect communal autonomy from state or reform advocates like the Akrofia and some Calpullist.
The Calpullist across Akosa mostly believe in a more centralized government, with close ties to CCC. They are more moderate than their god, General Akrofi, believing in more centralization to carry out Calpullist policies and organization of the country in a mass level, but not the Liberation Vanguardism of Akrofi. Among themselves the Calpullist divided into those that view a the state as a current necessity, within this view are schools that adhere to a centralized republic vs a federation. Other Calpullist believe in complete statelessness, but want to enact organizational reform, especially in regard to the clan culture.
Meanwhile there are the Akrofist, they believe in instituting a strong, technocratic state to better export 'the Revolution'.
Brief description of your nation’s government: At the lowest level there are popular assemblies, participated by the various nations and their clans/tribes. Each clan has their own dialect of Twi and holds their own land, ranging from a city(historically forming city-states) to farmland. With several clans in each, there are four regions across Akosa.
Each state is a confederacy of these clans, and the non-defined, ambiguous and mostly traditional structure of the Free Association owes to its status as a stateless society. There are central representative figures and 'celebrities' of Akosa, however they do not have prominent power.
The Executive Council is a grand coalition of all parties and specific groups(youth, ethnic minority, religious groups), the members of this participatory council are chosen by members of their party or group in their own democratic processes. The council is considered a committee for coordination merely, for the implementation of specific goals. The Executive Council also doesn't perpetually administer, only when it is called upon or necessary. (this rule is heavily bent ofc)
What is your nation’s primary industries?
What are its main exports? Imports? Mainly exports a variety of agricultural and artisanal goods, however is mostly isolated. At most a lot of machinery, appliances and pharmaceuticals are imported.
Brief description of your nation’s economic situation: A mix of a gift economy and Calpullist mutual credit system, used interchangeably by most people. The economy of Akosa is decentrally planned by cooperatives, inspired by the Calpullist as well. This lends more autonomy to the regions/states.
Military
What is the primary purpose of your armed forces? To defend the right of Free Association and Mutual Aid.
What is your military like? There is no official standing military, however efforts are organized through several local militias that cooperate in training. Together, the militia's form the Free Army. Its strategy is guerilla warfare in the instance of an invasion and making use of superior knowledge of the Akosa's rough terrain.
Brief description of your nation’s military’s capability: Very basic with second-hand, strung together equipment imported and appropriated decades ago. No airforce, or navy, just a rifle and grenade in every hand.
Diplomacy
What role do you see your nation fulfilling in the region? for now a companion to Bafeng as a fellow landlocked nation to play with. Expanded importance would be interesting, I'm open to historic interplay, as well as attempted imperialism(maybe going a graveyard of empires route).
Who are its friends and who are its rivals? Rivals: all neighbors and Pavirata most likely, Friends: CCC probably.
Brief description of your nation’s diplomatic approach: Akosa doesn't have an official posture to the world, maintaining ambiguous indifference, yet a culture of openness. Most Akosan figures are friendly to the world. Tensions may derive from economic and ideological motives, considering certain factions and groups in Akosa are also actively hostile internationally, trying to encourage a global revolution.
