The World Health Organization should be scrapped immediately

Their influence from China is obvious, and gives us good reason to suspect it's the real reason they downplayed this pandemic.

Remember when the right lied about Iraq weapons of mass destruction, getting thousands killed for nothing? Trusting the World Health Organization is arguably the left-wing equivalent of the Iraq War; a grave mistake with a body count in the thousands.

We need a new organization, accountable to open, transparent societies, and not beholden to such dystopias as China. Every dollar sent to the World Health Organization is, at best, a dollar that could've been spent coming up with something more trustworthy; and at worst, a dollar it can use to do China's bidding, peddle China's lies, and cause more harm than they would if they ceased to exist. So why not throw out the whole thing, and all involved in it, and start over, with a new, more trustworthy set of officials involved?

Let's actually give this a serious response, because there are problems with the world health organisation.
The world health organisation shouldn't be scrapped, firstly, however it does require major improvement. I won't discuss whether it is improperly influenced by one country or not, as doing so is likely to stray far too close to the misinformation rule, however it is worthwhile to point out why such a thing might be possible. The WHO has less funding than a moderately-well resourced hospital trust in London, and is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of health around the world: furthermore, much of its funding is ring-fenced, so the money it actually has to respond to pandemics is severely lacking. Additionally, its lack of funding prevents it from using its treaty-making power effectively, as international treaties are notoriously expensive to create: think diplomats travel and accommodation expenses from over a hundred countries for a year. Thus, the health law framework is lacking.
The WHO is also not ran by the most qualified person, but by which candidate gets the most votes: in the last election, a coordinated effort from developing countries was responsible for the result.

I genuinely believe that the WHO are doing the best they can with not very much, however there's a limit to what a badly resourced organisation with little power and less international respect can do.

China's been very active in developing nations, especially in Africa. In any case this guy needs to go, his conduct has been unacceptable and his past is questionable enough on top of it.

Lima, you need to review moderation's COVID-19 policies and the site owner's statement. "China is manipulating WHO to downplay the pandemic" most certainly falls under the umbrella of "posts that claim the virus is a government conspiracy."
