The First Roma Civil War

March 14, 2052
Cologne, Germania, Res Publica Nova Roma

Three bridges stood tall along the Rhine River, dividing the territory between the unruly Germanic region and the mainland Nova Roma territories. Barricades and machine-gun nests were piled on the Mainland side, firearms directed towards the bridge. On the Germanic side, there were thousands of rioters. Earlier in the day, a garrison's armory had been raided by these same rioters, giving them access to weapons beyond their swords. Tensions were now overflowing between the New Ceasarians and the Government...

Two men overlooked the scene from a nearby watch-post. The eldest of the two was smoking a cigar, his heavy eyes looking out towards the rioters with a solemn look.

"This damn weather.... It's almost spring and it's still freezing..." the old man said. "Tribune Titus... Have you gotten any news about assistance? We need them to get here before these rioters charge the bridges..."

The younger man, in his dapper blue suit and fur coat, stepped forward and presented three letters. Each with a specific seal of three different nations.

"We have allies... Their generals should arrive soon." Titus said as the older man took the papers. "I would suggest meeting with them at once Scipio... Spies have already said that there are nations supporting the Ceasarians."

"Bring them here."

On the Germanic side, a man in a trench coat stood upon a makeshift stand. The armed rioters cheering him on as he slipped out a paper.

"CEASARIANS. HERE ME.

THE GOVERNMENT OF ROMA HAS FAILED THE BORDER REGIONS. OUR PEOPLE STARVE AND WASTE AWAY AS THE CITIZENS OF GAUL AND ITALIA FEAST AND PROSPER. THIS IS NOT A FAIR AND JUST REPUBLIC. THIS IS TYRANNY. CEASARIANS. FOLLOW ME. FOLLOW YOUR IMPERATOR. AND WE SHALL ENSURE THAT NO REGION EVER SUFFERS UNDER THE FAILURES OF DEMOCRACY AGAIN."

A teenage boy, no more than 15, ran up to the stand; waving two letters.

"S-Sir! Sir! They're here. The foreigners are here." he said.

The Imperator took the letters and smiled. "Good." he muttered. "Take me to them! We must discuss before the assault."

The sounds of the rioters cheering was deafening. Peter Ruso stood on the sideways nearby, drinking a bottle of lime he purchased from the shop where he now stood. Peter had arrived here just a couple of days back. The Travencore government had recalled its ambassador from Nova Rome on account that the government committed atrocities to people who raised their voice against them. This double-faced attitude of the Nova Roma government forced Travencore to become the first to country to recognize the state of New Caesaria. They went a step further and opened their first embassy in the capital of New Caesaria. Peter was appointed as the Ambassador.

A tall, lean man was giving a patriotic speech to the crowd gathered here. He left his podium and started approaching Peter.
"You seem to have gained local support from these folks. Will these people fight" Peter asked.
Peter handed the man a letter, which contained the seal of the Travencore Emperor.

The letter read:

The government of Travencore congratulates you and your people for rising up against the double faced tyrannical rulers who have weakened your country. The government of Travencore will be sending warplanes and weapons to support your cause. Our military is also ready to send in advisors to train your forces, if it is required

The Ministry of Defense was a buzz with activity as tensions in Germania has boiled to armed rebellion. With Gleenish interests weighing heavily for a revived and free Celtic Nation, the Minister had long pushed for action against the Nova Romans indirectly. Now an opportunity presented itself.

With the busy atmosphere, no one noticed as a captain of the Gleenish Airborne moved through the main lobby and its open office floor. After moving to a central elevator, Captain Nathan Patrick pushed the Floor 16 button and began to busy his mind with preparations for his next deployment. He had no official orders yet, but he had been briefed on the situation.

He moved by two armed guards of the Parliament Security Force and entered a room full of intelligence officials and military personnel alike.
"Captain, thank you for joining us." said the Minister of Intelligence. "We know your time is very valuable and we will not waste it."

"Room tench-hut!" The room was called to attention as the Prime Minister and General Staff entered the room.

"As you were," muttered the Prime Minister. "Now, for the situation in Germania." He motioned to the Chief of Staff.

"We have now confirmed rioters have overtaken armories in Cologne and that they are organizing into partisan groups. We do not know their full strength but we know that this indicates what we have been suspecting for the past few months. Civil War is on the door step, and we believe that this will be our most opportune moment to make our move for a unified Celtic Republic. In order to achieve this, we must assist and verify that the Germanian uprising is sustainable and support it however we can. We believe a team of intelligence officers accompanied by military minds will be able to asses their political leadership and if there is a chance of sustained conflict."

The Chief then turned to the young captain, and continued

"For the military representative, we have selected Captain Patrick of the 22nd Airborne Division. He has 3 distinguished service medals for his time spent fighting in South Africa, Canada, and Greenland. He has completed 33 combat jumps and was awarded the Gleenish Order of Green Cross for a daring assault on Arctic Coalition Forces on Nuuk. He is a veteran in insurgency and and trusted by his chain of command. He will asses and decide the viability of the Germanian forces as well as assist in the security of intelligence officials."

"The mission has my confidence. I will go over the details with my ministers later." the PM responded.

The meeting carried on for another 30 minutes, going over intel and logistics for the mission. Captain Patrcik began to formulate his plan of entry, flying into Germania and jumping into the outskirts of Cologne in the next 48 hours. The initial team would consist of of the Captain, 4 other shock troopers, and 3 intelligence officials.

"Someone needs to contact their contacts in Germania, we need them to know we are friend, not foe."

Flight to Paris
It is an extremely sunny day. An Onfandite Government Plane, nicknamed "Heatwave" due to its reddish colors and tendency to catch fire, is currently on its way to Paris after reports of a civil war in Nova Roma. Commander Flaysath is currently in charge of the crew, along with his trusted advisor, Strategist Uokull.

"I have been yearning for action! Today is finally the day we get stretch our legs!" Uokull said, in a joyous manner. "Yes, yes, I know, but we can't be too excited about it. People are obviously going to have to die here... so just, don't act all that excited when we reach the government building, alright?" "Yes, of course sir."

"We are 12 miles from Paris, please be sure to prepare for our landing. We can't risk any casualties right now." Pilot Yanyth says. "Please, be careful when leaving the plane! I don't want anyone to di-" his copilot interrupts. "SIR! You have said the same exact things for the past hour! Please, I think that we are already reminded!" "..." "..." "I... I am sorry, please forgive me, Yanyth." "No, you are right. I apologize for my overly-worried emotions. Thank you for reminding me I don't have to be worried about everything, Laile."

Paris
"We appreciate your request for us to assist you in your civil war, and we have gladly accepted. Currently, there are 100,000 soldiers en' route to Le'Havre, as well as a few dozen ships coming to the Mediterranean to assist you with naval combat, that is, if they have a navy. I am sure that our armed forces will be able to help you as much as they can in this war. Nous devons juste attendre."

Commander Flaysath leaves the room.

English Strait, March 16th

FOdR Enavant Class
The Enavant Class is a type of ship from the Forces Océaniques du Royaume, and are built to carry up to 10,000 soldiers. They are generally designed as troop transport ships, and armed with 6 13mm AA guns Their visibility on radar from 2 miles away makes them relatively easy targets for planes in the area, but the ship is armed with 6 AA guns, so a fight with a plane is easy. There are 10 ships of this class, with two operated by General Parislan: The FOdR Bannière, and the FOdR Remettre

General Parislan speaks up. "Hello, my fellow soldiers. Tomorrow is the day we arrive in Le'Havre. Be sure to get good rest tonight, as we have a mission to do tomorrow, and that is to liberate the Rhin from these rebels. We are to succeed. Remember that we have one cause, and that is to bring peace. We move onwards, now!"

The Travencore air force established a small base near the airport located in Cologne from where they would be coordinating airstrikes. 6 Travencore air force warplanes had arrived at the base along with 500 support staff which includes 100 Travencore Army Special Forces troops whose main objective is to protect the airbase.

~ Lupos Black Dreadnought ~
The skies glistened their diamond blue as the cream coloured clouds skipped across the horizon, above the Vylerian Dreadnought Lupos Black. Lord - Ambassador David Satora Yi enjoyed his coffee as he leaned over the railing of the bridge overlooking the Danish coast. The Lupos Blacks port bow crashing calmly in the waves, the serene salty air blowing the steam of the coffee awry like a small battle of ice & fire... The serene calmness of the atmosphere that hung in the air around Lupos Black ~ crowned warship of the southern seas of Vyleria and one of 4 crowned ships in the Navy ~ was abruptly peirced by Lupos - Eagle Helijet on the rear helipad, preparing for take off as David Yi made his way to the helipad... After a short wait Lupos Eagle was well on it's way to New Caesarian Territory. David Yi had sent a message to New Caesarian rebel leader codenamed: Jackal that Vyleria has arrived and will support them with Naval and on the ground support.

Lupos Eagle
The roar of the engines ruptered the air as Lupos Eagle, came in for landing at the New Caesarian Airport after spotting the suspected Rebel equipment stationed there in the first flyover... Lupos Eagle causing quite a commotion among the men stationed there as Pilot Jack Yu forgot to even ask for landing permits, the Heli-Jet landing on the cracked tarmac with a light bump ~ thanks to the incredible suspension ~ "Welcome to New Caesarian my Lord, enjoy ya stay the weather is" Jack pauses to take a swig at the sky "Spanish" he says before shrugging and opening the port door... With David frustratingly being the last one allowed off due to the Federation Guard escort sent with him by Captain Morgan of Lupos Black.

Americae Roma is deploying 6 carrier strike groups containing 75 ships and 680 combat aircraft headed toward the Mediterranean Sea, to be put on high alert standby, ready to launch air and naval strikes on the Caesarian faction

Americae Roma Imperial Air Force

The primary air base for Imperial Air Force operation will be Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the base is already rather heavily stocked with a variety of combat aircraft such as B-2 spirit stealth bombers, F-22 stealth fighters, F-15 fighters and A-10 ground attack aircraft. An additional 800 combat aircraft will be sent to Ramstein Air Base to bolster the aerial capability of the Air Force in the region.

Americae Roma Imperial Ground Force and Imperial Marines

An Expeditionary Force of 150,000 Imperial Ground Forces soldiers and 100,000 Imperial Marines will be deployed to Central Germany to prepare for a ground assault on Ceasarian positions, while Americae Roma often tries to avoid commiting ground troops and instead rely on air and naval power to militarily intervene in foreign conflicts, but should the situation escalate, the Americae Roma military deems it neccessary to have a ground assault element ready.

"I ASKED FOR AN ARMY! NOT A BUNCH OF WORTHLESS CONSCRIP-" "Sir, please, calm down! We wouldn't want you to perish because of this anger!" General Yanyll said to Parislan. Having brought 17,000 men on the ships FOdR Bannière and Remettre. "Please remember that our goal right now is to rescue the Rhin Rivière from the hands of these rebels." "...yes, you are right. Alright then! Lets move along, now!"
The army begins a movement to the city of Strasbourg, where they will plan an attack on the city of Baden-Baden along the Rhine. Commander Flaysath and Strategist Uokull are also making their way to Strabourg from Paris.

(Parislan and Yanyll are taking the A35 highway, and will head onto the A4. Flaysath and Uokull are taking the A4 due to being in Paris, and will reach Strasbourg first. Metz will be used as backup in case Strasbourg falls.)

"D'accord, I think that we should take a stop here for the night. We will arrive in Strasbourg tomorrow... if the rebels haven't taken the city already." Flaysath says to Uokull. "Oui je suis d'accord. I am pretty tired."

It would be nearing the time of 5:30pm when Lord - Ambassador David Yi would be nearing the rebels stronghold and meetup with Jackal, though not much was known about Jackal, spare the albeit confusing lecture given to him by Lady Sophia and her advisers. David Yi knew that to openly support the rebels of New Ceasarians was the right move in his heart... Davids thoughts are splintered as a familiar voice echoes on the radio... Sophia Lee, David smiles as the Van radio echoes the carefully crafted agitprop of Vyleria's red wolf ~ The Van came to a halt outside of the gate as the group disembarked and proceeded on foot to a large group of randomly assorted people piled around a crudely buillt stage like a can of sardines. David Yi approached two mysterious yet proud figures, catching one of the figures attention their face lighting up like a candle (Rebel leader), "Goodevening Gentlemen, I am Lord - Ambassador David Yi of Vyleria," David Yi said formally glancing at the shadowy figure beside him (Travencore) and lookin' back, before unsheathing a small letter of his gold encrested pocket "Now which one of you is the leader?" David Yi curiously asks before holding the letter up in his hand...

The face of this rebel leader was a rather young and handsome man. He couldn't have been no older than 30, yet he managed to gather the border territory's support in such short time. He gave a small smile while approached by Peter Ruso and David Yi. He dusted off his coat and gave an informal bow to the two men.

"Welcome to the Powder Keg of Post-WWIII civilization, gentlemen." The young man said in a Italian accent. This man was not a border-person, he was an mainlanders. "The name is Gaius Velarius Caesar."

He extended his arm to shake hands with the two.

"I'm sure you're very well aware of the current situation. Within the next few hours, our people will cross the Rhine... But, we currently have the problem of Senate defenses lined up at the bridge. Most of these Outlander have never held a gun in their life, so we will need your assistance in this endeavor. I'm sure you both already have a strategy, yes?"

City of Strasbourg
Commander Flaysath has arrived in the city of Strasbourg. Reports of a battle from downstream have scared the city, so they are relieved that allies have come. Strategist Uokull decides that the main defense points should be at the Rhine River and the Rhin Tortu, and that a fallback line should be held at the Bassin de la Citadelle. Flaysath thinks that it is a good idea to hold a talk for the city, ensuring their safety in this war.

A4 Highway, Lorraine Region
General Yanyll sighs. "You know, if we lose Strasbourg, this war could be useless, you know?" General Parislan replies. "No, I can assure you, we will not lose the city. But, if we do, we will never surrender. Not to these rebellious scum." "INCOMING ENEMY PLANE!" A soldier shouted, disturbing the current peace of the journey. "WE MUST SHOOT IT DOW-" "Wait, stop. The plane isn't targeting us." The aircraft seems to notice the convoy, but doesn't target it. The plane turns around, and heads back in the direction of the city of Stuttgart. "Hmm, that was odd. Lets keep an eye on the skies for now, my soldiers." Parislan says.

Ambassador David Yi lets out a noticeabley proud smile as he places the letter back into his breast pocket, and shook Gaius VC's hand ~ the shake firm yet subtly posh the true hand of a leader ~ "It's a pleasure to finally meet such a famed leader, my friend" David Yi responded in an almost unpinnable Vylerian accent (Irish-Spainish-German). David Yi continued to listen to Gaius VC's strategy of attack against the Nova-Romanian forces stationed across the bridge. His chin resting nicely upon his perched hand.

"Aye I do though it involves a either the lose of all bridges west of us along the Rhine River to make way for the Lupos Black or the trapping of the bridges we have in front of us in the cover of darkness" David says as he glances west down the Rhine "Your opinion?"

Strasbourg, 8:30 AM
The city was quiet. No cars in the streets, no people walking around, no life. The only source of noise was coming from the beautiful Rhine River, with small metal pieces flowing down it, assumed to be from upstream. "Looks like we got enemies attempting to cross the Rhine further south, but it looks to be to no avail." said Strategist Uokull. "We have more troops coming in... right, Flaysath?" Flaysath replies to him. "Yes, we have more soldiers coming within the next few days. We just have to hope that these rebels haven't amassed enough soldiers to break through this city and cause us to fall back."

General Parislan's division is busy setting up defenses along the Rhine River "Alright, men. We are required to protect this city with our life. Show no mercy to these enemies!" He slaps what he thinks is an artillery piece, but discovers that it is not there, and swings his hand. A few soldiers quietly laugh. "Egh... ah... just get back to work!"

Today we fight for our nation and family, we shall help these people fight for their nation, if not for us, if not for our people, if not for our nation that we will fight for to the end, FOR THE GREATER GOOD!"
The troops begin to cheer, today the volenteer divisions head to Roma
