You could try Ironbreaker shields - that is what I used for my Skavenblight albino Stormvermin. You could also look at some of the less-corroded non-wooden Skeleton Warrior shields, or perhaps the Dwarf Warriors ones with the flying hammer.

However, I more prefer the Mechanicus overall. That said, I recently finished painting some Mechanicus Skitarii, or rather as I call them, Crumpcanicus Swagtarii due to how ornate they are dressed in silver, gold, and purple with rifles made with wood.

I just like painting the models and reading the lore.

I am heartbroken that Salamanders aren't #1 for you.

They were, but then I found myself being someone who loves sieges and siege warfare so I chose them as my #1 but Salamanders are still my top 3.
As of yet, i don't own a squad of Space Marines just Mechanicus to reflect of how much of a nerd I am.

They are a successor chapter of the Blood Angels, not the Blood Ravens.

I love the Lamenters though. They have some of the most inspiring lore in the setting. I have not heard what they are up to in 8th edition yet, however.

I find the Warhammer universe interesting in only one way, that being the massive irony that if everyone wasn't such a miserable bag of cunts and they were friends with each other, the Chaos Gods would have no power, and united, the non-Chaos realms could easily defeat the Chaos Gods.

Which is why my favorite kind of Warhammer stories are the wholesome ones

Amen. Space marines are cool and all, but the Guard are the true badasses to me.

But I do like chapters like the Salmanders and Space Wolves who actually give a shit about the common people.

How good are the Necrons on the tabletop? I've grown to love them and the Mechanicus so much since I started playing the computer game Mechanicus.

Also are mixed armies like Guard/Mechanicus or Astartes/Guard allowed? I can't see myself playing a main army of ADMECH unless they really vibe with me but if I can have them support my main forces that'd be much better.

My ideas for armies

1. World Eaters with Horus Heresy White/Blue colour scheme so as to really show off the bloodstains
2. Small army of Iron Warriors Loyalists lead by Narik Dreygur with automata, dreadnoughts, and a motley crew of infantry representing the surviving defectors.
3. Cadian Dakka Regiments MORE BANEBLADE COMMISAR
4. Necrons

Last I heard, they were supposedly finishing up their 100-year penance crusade. After that, they would be bolstered with the Primaris Marines... Maybe... Don't quote me on that I am just speculating.

Yes imperial soup armies are very much a thing. Admittedly they aren't as popular as they were due to how many strategems work but its perfectly legal as long as each detachment has the imperial keyword. It's pretty much how you include an inquisitor and his band of merry followers.

This was going to be an 'Imperial Soup' army, with the idea being that they were the volunteers who remained behind on Medusa V when the warp storm hit. I have yet to more than dabble in anything other than the Vostroyan contingent, however.

I have not added anything to it in several years, but it is my largest Warhammer 40,000 army. My Tomb Kings army for Fantasy was larger, but then Fantasy exploded. I have heard about The Old World, but am withholding my excitement for now.

Or if non-GW stuff is okay, Scibor are my go-to for alternate shields; their Roman or Egyptian ones could work well with Stormvermin: https://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?group=155

Fantasy is still played, though it's harder to find an opponent. The Old World looks promising - they're bringing Kislev back, so it can't be bad.

10 normal marines per rhino, 5 in a razorback.

On an unrelated note: DISASTER! I had converted up a kick ass big foreword for my wip inquisitor out of the cattle prody thing and the sword out of the skitarii box but when I went to work on that mini tonight I discovered that my liquid poly had leaked and turned everything beyond the hilt into jelly...

Plan B is to find a decent skull or something to replace the head of the power maul in the kit and make it into a force rod.

On the other hand I solved the two bionic legs issue using a sprue of warlord german panzer grenadiers I got free off a magazine.
