I know that feel. I remember keeping my copy of Ace Combat Zero around for years after I lost my PS2. When I finally had a gaming computer, and when PS2 emulators finally supported the game, my copy was nowhere to be found.
Luckily I didn’t, ahem, need the physical disc.
