Live 2020 Election Coverage

Postby Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom » Tue Mar 31, 2020 4:25 pm

World Assembley Election Coverage 2020; indecision
from the Boot's Leg Network

After four years finished, a world of polls, posters, and so much more has returned! It's election season in the World Assembly! With early voting underway, candidate are still finding their way to weigh in on the ways and means of the WA(y). An expert commentator with no credibility is ready to be your guide, unless his priate broadcast gets hit with the mighty moderation no-dachi Kiritateru Teikoku.

Poll topic: What Five candiate will place in the top 5?
So far it seems that nine candidates are placing themselves ahead of the others, and between them tiers are already forming. But with a day to go, anything can happen.

Incumbent Caelapes is looking solid in the top ranks, but challengers like Wymondham, Racoda, 9003 and The Bigtopia are doing just as well. These establishment challengers have plenty of regional endorsement, and are looking to cash in. One should never underestimate the niche votes. Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls is performing better than many candidates. The NS sports candidate Eura did well last year and has returned. Jar Wattinree is annexing the furry vote. Who knows what other political blocs and personality cults will form. Last time, rouge supporters of dictator Idi Amin surged in the campaign. What personality cults and demographics will be represented this year?

Voting is nowhere near complete, but we'll keep you posted throughout the next 24 hours.

We consulted multiple candidates and it appears that are willing to talk to the people. Eura, who promotes himself as a sports candidate, will also give people three course meals and a lot of salt. He should know salt is bad for you, being an RPer of athletics and all. The incumbent also responded to our query, he has been the number one target of critics. Giant Meteor, who is doing far worse, claim “I'll get a whole lot more votes next election” Other candidates are confident in attacking Caelapes. 4chan Unity posted “Ew, Communists” while endorsing himself, The Bigtopia and Giovanniland. Both Bigtopia and 4chan Unity are pro bazooka candidates. Most others appear apathetic to the issue.

Bigtopia got into the headlines for another reason. The nation Tinhampton claims Bigtopia dismissed a major recruitment scandal in his region. Bigtopia asserted at the time that it is “our choice how we conduct our recruitment.” As of writing, Bigtopia has not responded to any questions in hours.

As of right now Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls has rocketed into second, while voting shifts see Caelapes taking an important early lead. The Bigtopia is in the bronze position, Kuriko is celebrating his birthday in fourth, and Racoda has gone from first to fifth. With 22 hours left, anything is possible. We will keep you posted.

Seems like three pacifics are already together supporting Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls. That might be enough for them to go all the way.

Bigtopia’s bazooka fires back!
Surrogates of the surging challenger have downplayed the spam allegations against Bigtopia’s regional government. The man himself stated his biggest accomplishment was being a winner.

“My biggest accomplishment? I'm a winner. I'm a big winner. That's why I'll win this election, but only if you vote for me. Trust me, I'm a winner. And that's what really matters, you have someone who will win. Just as long as you vote for me.”

Caelapes on the ropes?
While Caelapes was the first candidate to pass the 100 vote barrier, not everyone is smiling. A claim of homophobia was lobbied publicly by the Giant Meteor mentioned in our second bulletin. The large space rock posted a link from 2010 in the Bigtopian campaign thread which shows the Secretary General calling himself a “gay baby.” Many candidate for office have had posts from the past unearthed, the question now is how, or if Caelapes will respond.

A second attack has also been leavened against the incumbent. The Secretary General is accused to forcing regions into a blacklist that removes their WA authority. Caelapes has vehemently denied these accusation, and claims the blacklist was a piece of humor. Caelapes also cities that the alleged victim was fully aware of any and all satirical intent.

Endorsement talk
Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls is gaining ground with endorsements at their side. The East Pacific, The Pacific and The South Pacific all endorse this Elon Musk fan’s dream babe. Dream bird? Dream cat?

In addition to major GCRs “The Black Hawks” have endorsed this cat girl candidate. The Black Hawks are an almost fifteen year old raiding organization which has been highly controversial in the past. While unfriendly to defenders, this LGBT rights campaign could endear them to progressives.

As of writing other GCRs such as The North Pacific, The Rejected Relms, and Lazerus have no main candidate. Osirus has nominated Wymondham, who is in sixth place. The largest user created region, Chicken Overlords has not placed an endorsement either. These regions can act as a good starting points for campaigns who want to break into the top 5.

Odds and ends
One interesting campaign is that of “The Divine Potato Empire of The Salaxalans” Salaxalans has promised two potatoes for all. Outside of Caelapes, Salaxalans has the most likes on his campaign platform, but has only has five votes. Could Salaxalans be the candidate of ineligible voters?

Candidate 9003 is granting legendary cards to volunteers, an interesting from of bribery if you have the empty space in your deck. Is this something the authorities should worry about? The staff is definitely tired of people posting “vote X” in people’s campaign threads. It was a bit common last time. Please try to keep it down for their sakes.

Right now Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls & Caelapes are neck and neck at 155, we don’t who will be in the lead when this post goes live. The Bigtopia, Kuriko and Racoda round out the top five. The Boot's Leg Network will keep you posted into the night.

His Excellency Idi Amin, running under the Aminist Uganda banner is starting to make big gains, hoping to maintain the strong electoral base he secured last time round when he ran as Kaalami. He has a strong anti-Obote agenda and has been vocal in calling out the trickery of the raiders, and representing the interests of the RP community. What an incredible and brave individual!

Right now the election is in an early stage, we’re not even a tenth of the way finished. However, there are notable candidate already in the race. We’ve made a quick list of them. No major details, but they all have potential to win.

Running to support LGBT+ issues. Especially Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls
Has the most votes, and has the most major regional endorsements.
This is the establishment candidate, wrapped up a meme filled package.

Running for re election, Caelapes is the major left wing option in the campaign.
He has done well with the incumbents advantage, but is in second place. This could be an issue. However, last time the winner was only decided in the final round.

Running to promote the influence of the WA Security Council and its supremacy over the General Assembly.
Is the delegate of the 10000 Islands region, the 15th largest region in the game.
Has slowly risen up the ranks. As the honeymoon period ends for other major candidates, he could strike big in the final rounds.

Running as the main anti-WA candidate
Not endorsed by his region, he doesn’t care.
For nihilists to the NS process, this is a potential favorite.

Bigtopia is running on a platform of granting free bazookas to everyone.
Foreign Affairs Minister of Thaecia, a region with around 600 nations. They have been endorsed by the region.
Bigtopia has the most replies on his campaign thread of any candidate, indicating he is a major figure in the discussion.

Running on a platform of General Assembly abolishment, liberation abolishment, doubling the power of delegates, and quadrupling the votes of GCRs “cos why not?”
Vizier of Foreign Affairs for Osirus. This position in government is likely why the regional has backed this candidate over any others.
Endorsements help a figure with a limited platform. If they campaigns hard, they could do well.

Running on the promise of free cards
Not endorsed by their home region of the North Pacific
Throwing around his weight, but not dominating. Perhaps a more active campaign could help. Wants “Noah” to finish 2nd.

Running on “Continuity with Change”
McMasterdonia is the delegate of and endorsed by the North Pacific.
Being endorsed by a major region and a mass TG helped them get out the vote a few hours into the campaign. They could be a strong contender.

Running as pro crab candidate.
Endorsed by The West Pacific.
Crabs!

Running as the non-interventionist party candidate
Politically active the ~200 nation “Commonwealth of Liberty” region as a former President, Vice President, Secretary of State, and Chief Justice.
They have a custom flag for this campaign, and that could help get the word out.

Also top 25 should currently include...
Aexnidaral, Anarchitaria, Bohseon, Castle Federation, Dekks, Ecclestia, Eura, Fungsland, Kakazagistan, Pencil Sharpeners 2, The American Empire, The Salaxalans, Suvmia, Todd McCloud, and Valentine Z

Others were noticed by the Boot’s Leg Network. They are either endorsed by multiple regions, are near 25th place, posting frequently on threads, or are just plain interesting in eyes of the editor. They are...
Aminist Uganda, Atlantian Oceania, Cheesy Cheese Island, Jar Wattinree, New Texas, Noahs Second Country, The Derpy Democratic Republic Of Herp, The Stalker, The Traditional States, The World Capitalist Confederation, Tinhampton, and Treadwellia

Chicken Overlords, the largest user-created region has endorsed Valentine Z. However, they are a region with very few WA members, so they may not be able to swing the election.

As someone who placed top 5 last time around, I feel I should have been included in the options. May have gotten a late start, but i'm rising through the ranks, already in the top 25.

We at Aminist Uganda's campaign can summarize very clearly His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, CBE, Lord of all the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea, King of Scotland and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular's campaign platform with this one image:

This is true, endorsements are something that we do not know the power of yet. An interesting endorsement bloc could be large founderless nations because they by nature have a high amount of World Assembly members. The GCRs Balder is a good place to find support, but votes could still be pulled from regions like NationStates, if interested, or The Communist Bloc, which has endorsed Caelapes.

The initial poll was the top nine as of a few hours ago. It will likely be changed out before the end of the first round. There will also be a new compilation of the top 25 nations of which I have seen you go in and out of.

As of 18:48:29 left, these were the rankings. Any candidate outside the 25 after he first two rounds will have to refile, preventing them from getting a quick lead in the standings. The top five in round three advance to the finals.

Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls

Postby Comackia » Tue Mar 31, 2020 8:50 pm

I mainly just talk about the current leading candidate and who I have voted for
Trans Anarcho-Communist Lesbian Catgirls is certainly doing very well, but it is odd for such a relatively new nation (they have about 400 million population) to be doing so well, especially when compared to other candidates that have over 10 billion population and have had much longer careers. Naturally bribery is happening for votes, but what is the main attraction for someone so new to have such a big lead as of now? Is it the Black Hawk association, LGBTQ+ support, or is it just a bigger scheme from the Pacifics that continue to have unrivaled power as the few NS created regions? Either way, vote Jocospor! You have to support clearing out corruption even when faced with civil rights issues that we can all agree on. Jocospor also runs the Confederacy of Corrupt Dictators, which may be a contridiction to his running platform, but he truly believes in it. I have not seen many regions reach the level of success as his and that has to say lots about his leadership potential.

Valentine Z has slid into 9th place by passing Giovanniland. The Cat campaign has done well for itself, collecting over a percentage of the vote in a very large first round. Horse races like this are getting more and more rare as voters lock in their choices. The western world is also well into the night. We’ll see more votes from those places in the hours to come.

Balder has been getting attention as it has yet to back a candidate. Various draft efforts and endorsement requests are being made in the founder less region, full of WA members.

In a Boot’s Leg exclusive press scrum with McMasterdonia, the nation indicated what it stand for and how it’s a contender. Citing a "process of continuity with change" and a "hollow and oxymoronic" slogan.

McMasterdonia wrote:
Zeta Reka and Hugeltaldom wrote:
McMasterdonia, your candidacy started a few hours into the election with a major ad blitz. You’re running on the slogan, “continuity with change.” What is continuity with change? A process? A philosophy?

Many candidates are promising change. Some are railing against the elites, the world assembly, raiders, defenders, or even Max Berry. What are you changing?

Thank you for the question. Can I say that I love what you're doing here? You're doing an absolutely tremendous job. Unlike the other fake news media outlets, that is precisely why your show is doing so well in the ratings. Not as well as my show, but you know, you're doing well. More well than anyone else alive could have believed, so congratulations on that. Truly amazing. Fantastic, outstanding job. We're committed to a process of continuity with change. We will both exercise continuity of the world assembly and change it. That is what we have said we will be doing. That is precisely what I fully intend to do. I keep to my word. We needed a slogan to be both hollow and oxymoronic, truly an amazing feat for a campaign to achieve. It both says nothing, but has depth and meaning. This is precisely why we will win."
