New Decade and New Leader MT [Semi-Open/TG for Entry]

Postby Flardania » Tue Feb 18, 2020 1:10 pm

OOC: This is an election thread feel free to join along in the RP whether you want to post international reactions, take control of a resident as they decide who to vote for, take control of a campaign or even some combination of the above. Any user that I have rped with before is automatically invited anyone else needs to TG for entry.
If you seek to RP a party you need to be able to communicate, while there are different political views on things. We need to be on the same page oocly. If interested let me know which party you want to RP (you can tweak and overwrite somethings about the party you chose)

In the eventful aftermath of the new decade, upcoming Lunar New Year festivities, this winter The Taisuist Republic of Kirishima prepares to vote for its newest Dirigeant after Arata Kasuga announced he would not be running for re-election. Kasuga who was never a career politician felt that he accomplished his main goals and did not want to stay in office just for the sake of it. It was both unsurprising considering his temperament but the time was a bit odd. Nonetheless, there will be a new leader to start the decade.

Two of the biggest stories since the last national elections were the disbanding of the H.E.S.L Coalition Party that produced Springfield, Kiryuin, and Kasuga. The party emerged as a Traditionalist Party rooted in making Kirishima true to itself regardless of what others abroad thought. It was branded the Jeontongdang Party. The other major event was a split in the Kirishinan right as the new Prosperity Party formed as a response to the Liberty Party's defeat in the last election. Members of the Prosperity Part felt the Liberty's Party stance against Prostitution and other aspects of Kirishinan sexuality allowed Kasuga to take the Traditionalist stance into victory. The Prosperity Party seeks to be an actual reflection of what the Kirishinan right should be.

Not to be outdone KiriProg seeks to rebrand themselves after their dismal campaign during the last Dirigeant campaign. Kenji Ishida was relentlessly attacked by the Liberty Party for its ties to the Philippine Bayan. Rather than return as the Progressive Party, KiriProg seeks to keep its name and serve as not only a progressive option but be a more effective party of the left than the Liberal Union.

Speaking of the Liberal Union they finished a close second in the past two elections and arguably lost not due to the winning H.E.S.L Coalition Party, but rather as a result of meddling from other parties. When Kasuga became interim Dirigeant after Kiryuin walked away, it was due to the emergence of the Convist Party which sought to gradually transition Kirishima into communism. While people were familiar with the Coalition, voters did not know Kasuga and as a result, the Convist Party was gaining. Last-minute ads online urged voters to vote for the opposition with the best shot at beating the Convist leading into a drastic plateau for Myeong Yi's Liberals and a spike for Kasuga. The second time came when the Liberty Party had plans that targeted sexuality and the majority religion. Once the Coalition painted themselves as the defenders of Kirishinan culture certain key prefectures saw large turnouts for the Coalition. The Liberal union hasn't had a Dirigeant in Office since Drake when he defected from the Conservative Party in the mid-2000s and haven't had an elected leader since Dirigeant Morita from 1996-2000 who was not only seen as a coward in dealing with regional disputes but was unlucky to be the leader during the Asian Financial Crisis. The Liberal Union will not only seek to win this time around but avoid being overtaken by KiriProg.

That leaves the Liberty Party which emerged in the last election as a mix of a variety of right-wing parties such as the Conservative Party, Nationalist Party, and the Kirishinan Renaissance Party (KRP). They came in hard and organized but they were also controversial as they walked a fine line of norms not only in regards to Kirishinan society but also in terms of civility of the campaign. They drew in supporters who were a fan of the Liberty's Party stance on taxes and foreign policy but struggled with domestic policy. The question is whether the party will change its tone or will the split of the Prosperity Party lead to a doubling down with less internal moderate voices?

The party platforms are as follows:

Image
Kirishinan Progressive Party
Dirigeant: Ms. Kang-Hee Han
Sous-Premier: Mr. Tsukasa Mikogami
Domestic policy:
  • Every single individual must be given equal rights to expression, relationship (regardless of orientation) and equal opportunity to education, healthcare and other privileges of a welfare state.
  • Freedom in curriculum choosing in higher education as well as making all levels of education available for all.
  • Religious values should not be taught out of the desire to make people enter a particular religion. Schools should not assist in what is deemed as the 'indoctrination' of the young into religion. Instead, humanist values should be what builds the earliest sense of morality in the human child. Religion only arrests the child's freedom to choose whatever belief system he or she sees fit. Only a mature adult could make a bright choice for themselves as to what religion fits them.
  • Ensure affordable housing through measures such as state housing construction funding and passing laws to control rent costs.
  • In favor of closing down existing nuclear power reactors and moving away from nuclear energy.
  • In favor of strict federal regulations as an effective approach to reducing carbon emissions.
  • In favor of paying farmers to adopt climate-friendly practices.
  • Expand the Kirishinan Health Service
  • Ease immigration and asylum process/requirements
  • Legalize Marijuana
  • Decide in favor of allowing a Sex Workers Union
  • Support the full reproductive right to abortions

Economic policy:
  • Reducing income inequality by creating new social programs funded by increased taxes on the wealthy.
  • Ensure a Federal Job Guarantee
  • Institute a wealth tax
  • Break up large Kirishinan Keiretsu and Chaebols
  • Break up large Kirishinan Tech companies
  • Free College
  • Establish a livable minimum wage

Foreign policy:

  • Reign in Kirishima's defense budget
  • Kirexit from full SACTO membership would look to being a SACTO partner at most.
  • Maintain the commitment to the defense of the Federal Union of Guadalupador.
  • Ban interventions unless it's to the defense of Guadalapador, Bethuana Paix, Mellburg, Zamunda and any nation deemed to be a legitimate ally.
  • Despite being a SACTO member keeping historic ties with the Organized States and keeping diplomatic channels open with former IFC members Aravea and Inyursta.

Image
Liberal Union

  • First two years of College Free
  • Increase the national minimum wage.
  • Introduce a more progressive tax scale.
  • Create an economy built to last & built from the middle out
  • Cut taxes for every working family, but not millionaires.

Foreign policy:
  • Evaluate Kirishima's defense budget
  • Hold a referendum on a Kirexit from SACTO
  • Maintain the commitment to the defense of the Federal Union of Guadalupador.
  • Ban interventions unless it's to the defense of Guadalapador and any nation deemed to be a legitimate ally.
  • Will keep ties and Airforce base sharing open with the Organized States.

Image
Jeontongdang Party
Dirigeant: Mr. Sung-Gi Na
Sous-Premier: Ms. Alisa Dmitrievna Lissova
Domestic policy:
  • While healthcare is not free it is guaranteed by the government. The Kirishinan Health Service is meant to cover health and dental check-ups and helps subsides private insurance costs for emergencies. The healthcare plan also seeks to tackle Hospital and Insurance administration costs as well as make public what they charge for a procedure
  • Maintain current status quo regarding rights for LGBT
  • College costs come from expensive expenditures such as cost for funding various expensive programs that are that way due to clinical requirements and or maintenance of accreditation costs. Cost control of these expensive yet necessary accreditations is a must. Administration costs also need to be reigned in. As Education is a core to national success and is the key to moving up in a capitalist system a task force of Kirishinans and foreigners across the political spectrum will be gathered to determine what works and what else can be trimmed.
  • Promoting good Onjoist values

  • Universal Basic Income - Provide a dividend just below the poverty line in monthly installments to all citizens over the age of 18
  • Reduce funding to welfare while increasing jobs in infrastructure and subsidizing green energy manufacturing
  • Aim to be among the worlds leading exporters of Solar Panels, Wind/Ocean turbines, Electric Vehicles, etc. ASAP with evaluations every half-decade.
  • Moderate tariffs to defend some of the weaker Kirishinan companies but also encouraging foreign competition.
  • Maintain current military spending and being willing to increase over the current rate but not decrease.
  • Reduce tax loopholes
  • Encourage new business by not taxing the first few years of existence.

Foreign policy:
  • Deeping ties with SACTO Allies while opting out of Right-wing Judeo-Christian operations or manifestos
  • Strenghten ties and aid to the Federal Union Gudalapador
  • Draft up official Kirishinan Maritime Borders and enforcement policies inspired by COSTAL guidelines to enforce Tobacco and FIrearm bans, combat trafficking, illegal immigration and anything else unwanted in Kirishima.
  • Readiness to defend and support Kirishinan interests around the world from Zamunda to Bethuana Paix
  • Promote ties and assistance to fellow Asian and Francophone nations

Image
Prosperity Party
Dirigeant: Mr. Kouji Sugawara
Sous-Premier: Mr. Hayato Izumi
Domestic policy:
  • Reducing funding for the Kirishinan Health Service to subsidize emergency only. Create tax-free medical savings account for citizens while also tackling Hospital and Insurance administration costs.
  • Maintain the current status quo regarding rights for LGBT.
  • Expanding junior college programs, technical institutions, private training schools, online universities, life-long learning, and work-based learning in the private sector, to create competition for four-year schools. This is a good way to not only make education more accessible now but to have four-year schools focused on matching these alternatives’ costs and levels of job-preparedness.
  • Promoting good Onjoist values
  • Officially designating the Korean Language as the third official language along with Japanese and French.
  • Provide support for new and young families

  • Cut welfare spending
  • Increase military spending and the size of Kirishinan armed forces to properly defend Kirishinan interests across the globe.
  • Annual audits of the Central Bank

Foreign policy:

  • Deeping ties with SACTO Allies while opting out of Judeo-Christian operations or manifestos
  • Re-Affirm ties to the Federal Union Gudalapador
  • Foregin Policy priorities need to be based on a stable system of security aimed at ensuring Kirishinan well being
  • Draft up official Kirishinan Maritime Borders and enforcement policies inspired by COSTAL guidelines to enforce Tobacco and FIrearm bans, combat trafficking, illegal immigration and anything else unwanted in Kirishima.

Image
Liberty Party
Dirigeant: Mr. Naizen Yukimori
Sous-Premier: Ms. Yoko Kayabuki
Domestic policy:
  • Upholding state as a secular democracy with a visible representation of the people in all spheres of political life.
  • Recognition of freedom to worship and freedom of belief, as long as this will not be harmful to the people.
  • Recognition of Orthodox Chrisitan rights as long as they do not participate in harmful acts.
  • Prostitution should be de-legalized, with heavy fines placed over people who use such services.
  • Containing the global pro – LGBT worldview, including subtle media indoctrination that this mindset is good. As much as we recognize their opinion that it is normal, we expect them to recognize our opinion that this is not normal and should be restricted to prevent the spreading of degeneracy among Kirishinan youth.
  • In our belief marriage is between a man and a woman. While the party is passionately against the persecution of LGBT individuals, neither we believe that they should have anything more than civil unions, which should suit their needs well.
  • Restricting the spread of pornography and its harmful effects on Kirishinan natural growth.
  • Recognition of the family as the basis of social life and plan to implement a program to support it as the basic structure of society.
  • Introduction of several family benefits for those with a large number of children.

Economic policy:
  • Reduce individual income tax to 10% of the total person’s income.
  • In favor of a serious decrease of corporate tax
  • We support majority – free healthcare with only basic services being performed state – wise.
  • The educational system has to be remade also, being replaced with a more efficient system. The government needs to cut down on its educational budget and conduct privatization of the majority of schools, allowing the parents to fund the institutions while encouraging competition.
  • Abolition of the central bank and allowing The Kokumin Gikai to emit money.
  • In favor of imposing protective tariffs to defend Kirishinan companies from being destroyed by foreign competition while keeping international trade at a considerable level.
  • Combating corruption through the establishment of a new anti-corruption task force which will ensure the safety of Kirishinan people from information warfare.
  • We demand replacement of “welfare” with “workfare”. If a person does not work, neither shall he eat. We believe that the poor should receive money through charities, not through governmental commercial transactions.
  • We support rights of inheritance without government confiscation of one’s property.
  • It is in our belief that nature was made to serve man, not otherwise. Therefore our party openly encourages the reduction of money spent on environmental protection as long as no citizen is threatened.
  • We demand an increase in military spending and the size of Kirishinan armed forces to properly defend Kirishinan interests across the globe.
  • Our party demands an increase of veteran’s pensions for their brave service to Kirishima.
  • We support private land ownership and believe that the government should not take it from its rightful owners without proper payback.
  • We do recognize that the working class has the same rights as the upper class, therefore our party is willing to recognize and support all sorts of initiatives that have on purpose to ensure that Kirishinan workers have their rights respected.
  • The rural areas need to be supported, considering that Kirishima needs Kirishinan food.

Foreign policy:

  • Our party seeks to create a stable system of security aimed at ensuring Kirishinan well being.
  • We seek increased cooperation with IFC and SACTO as long as it benefits Kirishima; foreign alliances should not be dictating us our policy.
  • Draft up official Kirishinan Maritime Borders and enforcement policies inspired by COSTAL guidelines

Vidkryttya Theater
Jeontongdang Party: Sung-Gi Na
Prognoi| Slavyansk | Kirishima

A new decade and a new election cycle consisting of some of the usual hot topics. As often is the case in the 21st century the questions regarding culture and migration due to a more globalized world dominate the headlines. In a unique case, the Slavyansk region has nothing to do with globalism and had remarkably everything to do with colonialism. How did an enclave of Slavic people end up on an island in the Pacific? Back in the late 19th century, the colonial government hired Slavic mercenaries to help quell rebellions in exchange for land. The tensions continued to rise post-Kirishinan Independence with the Slavic population hating Kirishinan culture and being the least developed region. On the other hand, Kirishinans saw the Slavic people as hypocritical parasites who despite constantly having their homelands dominated against their will, still came and did the same in Kirishima. The Slavic role in helping a Christian coup against the Empress in the '70s did not help things either.

After an LGBT marriage law was established and Prostitution was re-legalized (was legal before criminalized in the 1970 coup), armed conflict begun in the region spearheaded by the decentralized Slavic Orthodox Army. Which caused mayhem immediately in 2015. Today things are nowhere near its peak but there are still conflicts emerging scattered throughout most of the region. In this context will the region be visited by a candidate for Dirigeant, the first time Slavyansk ever received a visit and surprisingly from the ruling party that set off everything in the first place.

After receiving an all-clear from security, Na Sung-Gi stepped onto the theater stage while being met with either skeptical glances, smug amusement, or various levels of curiosity. What business could a non-christian possibly have in Slavyansk? It was to be expected as not only has no one ever campaigned in the region before for the highest office, but the region was considered an easy win at the national level for the Liberty Party with maybe some inroads by the Prosperity Party this time around.

"Good Evening, I would like to start-off for thanking all of you for attending this event" Na stated before sitting down at the edge of the stage. The foreign minister wore a collared shirt with no tie and some slacks. Beneath the shirt, one could see the outline of a man who kept in shape. "Those of you who choose to give me the time of day is a result of curiosity. Curiosity as to why I am here today especially when I could be in a room filled with energized supporters for the cameras. Curiosity to why I, as a member of Kasuga administration, an administration which is anything but popular here in this region. 19th Century, 1970, 2015." Na began, shifting slightly. "These are various times of tension between cossacks and practically every other group in this nation. This is not only unsustainable but works against everything I believe in. We can't keep looking at the past and we need to move forward together as Kirishinans. Now I understand that being labeled as Kirishinan feels weird or unnatural. Perhaps you want to reject that label because you do not want to give up your Slavic roots. I do not want that I want you to still be who you are but you need to remember that you are Kirishinan as well. Due to colonial forces, we are all here on these islands together. Golden Age prosperity only happens when we focus on our similarities and not our differences. When we unite rather than divide. I do not need a single vote from this region. But I intend on addressing your concerns as Kirishinans regardless if you want me or trust me to do so." Na stood up. "I will not say want you want but know that I mean what I say, I do not fear what I say and know my goal is cooperation, not domination. I'll take some questions."

[Sava] " The name is Sava Omelyanovych Morhun, you say that you want cooperation but Heiwa forces us to accept gay marriage, forces us to accept prostitution. Things that we do not approve of in the orthodox faith. You served in Kasuga's administration so you must have similar beliefs. As Dirigeant will you remove these laws!? If not want makes you different from Kasuga and why should we give you the time of day?"

[Sung-Gi] "I'm glad that you didn't wait to ask that question. I wanted to get it out of the way early so that we can be on the same page and so that you can also understand what I meant by my visit." Na took a sip of water. "As Dirigeant I would not repeal those laws on the national level and neither would I remove things in Slavyansk either." *Jeers* "So I'm going to start with prostitution, this is something that was been in the case of Kirishima, a voluntary tradition that goes back well over two millennia. If someone decides to uptake that craft, a Kirishinan should be able to do so regardless of where they are in the country. That doesn't mean it has to be advertised or public. Federal law can and should be adapted in a way to meets requirements but fits the demands of a prefecture. In the 21st century, there is no need for a grand and obscene brothel. Two consenting adults can make private individual arrangements outside of the eyes of those who don't approve or in search of it.

Now you may feel different about that and that view may never change and that's alright. That is what you are entitled to in a democracy. But in my opinion, if it's discrete that you, your family and your kids do not know it is occurring without seeking it out but those who are interested or are secretly interested can seek it out. That sounds like a reasonable view to me, which again you are free to disagree with. Now in the case of the more controversial topic of gay marriage as that is more of a liberal ideal than a traditional Kirishinan ideal. Personally, I find it strange that a man could love another man on a sexual level. I look at my lovely wife Hyun-Kyung confused as to how another man could pass on a woman, but I also look at my son Dae-Won and daughter Na-Yeon. I think about a society where if any of them became homosexual they may have trouble finding work or be seen as sub-human. I think the left should not require that the Catholic Church, Orthodox Church or Onjoist Temples be made to grant those marriages, I do not think that such a lifestyle should be actively promoted. But should someone feel that way, still be able to live, work and be treated with the same dignity of another human being."

[Nazar] "I am Nazar Ivanovych Soroka, I come from Sitch Tserkievskaya. As you may know, where I come from is well known as one of the first active areas of the Slavic Orthodox Army. You see them as the enemy but many people where I'm from see them as heroes that defend us. Many areas see little prosperity and Sitch Tserkievskaya is no different. Tserkievskaya University is a good school for finance and economics but the surrounding area betrays that fact. What are you going to be able to do for us and what will you do about the SOA who have done more for us than anyone in Heiwa?

[Sung-Gi] "First of all that is a clear example of what happens when you see another group as others and you let lack of communication and hatred fester. The pressure needs to be released and in 2015 that clearly happened. For far too long cossacks wanted to do things there way and those in charge, especially after the 1970 coup, were more than happy to make it difficult on you. This region has never recovered from the Asian Financial Crisis and I intend to address that. First, we need to all come to the reality that this is Slavyansk and not Tokushima. That Slavyansk is not a region but a prefecture, as a prefecture Slavyansk needs to be integrated like anywhere else population-wise but still have its Slavic aesthetics and charm just like Habaedo Prefecture. A Kirishinan prefecture like any other with Kirishinan's of all kind living there but still very Korean sounding and looking. We on all accounts need to visually see and be reminded that we are all neighbors, brothers, and sisters. That the only others out there are beyond our shores." Na returned to sitting at the edge of the stage.

"Second we need to address the Slavyansk Prefecture that was left behind. We start with a large investment direct to the community in the form of Universal Basic Income. A monthly stimulus package that when added to your paycheck amounts to a raise of ₩6.25 Weidais per hour. A pay raise burden not placed local business or on taxpayers but large tech companies and some massive corporate stock transactions. This increase in capital should help increase buying power and demand within your neighborhoods. Stimulating the local economy and providing new jobs from the increased business.

Speaking of increasing jobs, third, I intend to incentivize green manufacturing in Slavyansk. With the Universal Basic Income, we lessen the need for a drastic minimum wage raise, allowing us to keep more manufacturing jobs here. If going green for some nations is not economically beneficial or difficult we should help those nations. There are a few industries that could use a hard-working driven workforce to manufacture solar panels and turbines. I feel confident that Slavyansk can be the source of our next economic boom and be forefront in aiding make our home economically and environmentally secure.

As for the SOA, they are still considered a domestic terrorist group but considering the circumstances. As Dirigeant any SOA operative who lays down arms privately for their safety or to authorities for ease in awarding what I am about to announce. I am speaking of not pursuing any legal action against those who voluntarily seek to join a peaceful development of Slavyansk."

Sung-Gi had no idea if any of his words would make a difference in the grand scheme of things but considering he had people's attention and having and actual discussion. This was worth the trip. Sung-Gi would have to let his local running mate make the next rounds as the elections weren't that long and he had more areas that needed focus.

OOC: Post was written in cooperation with Guadalupador
Otsuka Portopia Hotel
Liberty Party: Yukimori Naizen
Otsuka| Kirishima

As the final glow of orange faded from the sky and the people of the mid-size city of Otsuka went about their business. A lone unsuspecting black Kiwa Sedan pulled into the valet parking area of the Otsuka Portopia Hotel. It was a nice 4-star hotel that provided comfort without breaking the bank. However, lodging cost does not matter to the two individuals who stepped out the vehicle. To Naizen Yukimori and his campaign manager Kenjiro Tengan the hotel simply was close enough to their latest campaign stop.

The two men settled on the Hotel for their interview with Guadalupador News Today. It goes without saying but Naizen was not popular with the Kirishinan-Dorian population at all. He was right-wing, anti-LGBT and had an overall negative view towards the state of the Kirishinan-Dorian alliance. Despite this Naizen took time out of his campaign to meet with Dorian media.

"Yukimori-sama, may I ask you something?" Kenjiro asked as the two men arrived at the foot of an elevator.

"Go ahead," Naizen replied as he glanced at his watch.

"Why did you decide to meet with the Dorian media, Barasele-san is definitely out to bait you. There is no way the Dorians actually want to listen to you." Kenjiro inquired.

"I don't doubt it, but we need to show voters that I don't run from any challenge besides I have a trick or two up my sleeve." Naizen replied as he entered the elevator.

"What do you mean?" Kenjiro asked.

"Just watch an observe....also have a PR team on standby." Naizen added.

After being introduced to the GNT correspondent Georges Barasele, the Dorian production team wrapped up their preparations and began counting down.

Georges Barasele: “Hello Mr. Yukimori. Welcome to the show. In the aftermath of the split of the Kirishinan Liberty Party, it seems you lead what many political observers deem the ‘extremist’ wing of the old party. Are you and your newly consolidated party as ‘extreme’ as observers say you are?”

Naizen Yukimori: "I wouldn't say we are extreme, maybe from your political worldview you see it as extreme. We are the same Liberty Party and it was Liu Shen-Hua who splinted off in a party where he wasn't even selected to run."

Georges Barasele: "Do you think that the split will hurt your chances at the polls?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Actually I think it's great for the right. When we split, the media called it a fracturing. Those who value our economics but felt uncomfortable with our domestic views now have a party and alternative to Kasuga's experiment. The Liberty Party will now be free to stay true to our beliefs and people take to that level of authenticity."

Georges Barasele: "Speaking of economic policy, one of the Liberty Party's platforms mentions the 'recognition of worker's rights,' can you elaborate what Liberty considers 'worker's rights?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Being free from being exploited by globalist elites. Do you not know that globalism always leads to struggles for workers in developed nations. Workers are losing jobs to cheaper labour abroad, automation, and misguided government regulation and taxes."

Georges Barasele: "So how is Liberty going to put an end to this exploitation?"

Naizen shook his head with a smile. "We need to limit trade to nations whose economies are not similar in strength and provide disincentives to the businesses that would otherwise outsource there. We need to ensure that businesses aren't compelled to cost cut workers in a consumer economy by reducing expenses paid in taxes."

Georges Barasele: "Do labor unions also play a part in your party's plan for economic independence?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Not only are unions outdated and unnecessary in today's society, but also unions are often a front for extortion through forced union dues and taxes, corruption including forced membership for the sake of plurality, and political manipulation through liberals as havens for communist infiltration. So while I tolerate the idea, in theory, they do not play a part."

Georges Barasele: "If you and your party are elected, you promise to establish a new anti-corruption task force to 'defend Kirishinans from information warfare,' wouldn't that be a bit out of purview for a bureaucratic regulatory agency, especially one that deals in economic policy?

Naizen Yukimori: "It's both economic and domestic. Such task force, as a result, will not be limited to economics."

Georges Barasele: "What would constitute information warfare on the domestic front?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Fake news, communist propaganda, and anything aimed at undermining social cohesion. Despite being a multi-ethnic state, we do not have the same issues as in the west. We intend on keeping it that way."

Georges Barasele: "That sounds like it could erode press and speech freedoms within Kirishima, how much power would this task force be given, and are there any assurances that will be made to defend free speech?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Free speech is greatly respected but the task force will do it's best to ensure harmful things such as communist propaganda does not make it into Kirishima on the macro-level and at the least at the individual level be flagged so that while someone may be accessing the information. They are notified via disclaimer as to the nefarious nature of said content. We wouldn't actually be punishing people for coming across misinformation"

Georges Barasele: "Interesting, talking about speech brings up a good jumping point into Liberty's domestic policy: What does Kirishima have in store for it, if Liberty gets elected?"

Naizen Yukimori: "A family-centric secular democracy"

Georges Barasele: "Your definition of what a family is has been quite controversial among some in Kirishinan society, some would say they'd be scared of what Liberty would do in regards to LGBT issues here in Kirishima, would you care to elaborate what Liberty's policy is?"

Naizen Yukimori: "It's not a crime to be LGBT, it will never be a crime, no one will be forced to change or any of the usual fears. Our policy is that marriage is between a man and a woman and civic unions provide the same legal benefits of being married, limit exposure to children in regards to being homosexual, and containing subtle media indoctrination that this mindset is good. While we recognize homosexuals and their allies' opinions that it is normal, we expect them to recognize our opinion in the majority that this is not normal."

Georges Barasele: "Is your opinion not already recognized?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Elaborate"

Georges Barasele: "Are you not free already to express your opinion? It doesn't seem like the current government is impeding your party from expressing it, that would imply recognition of the opinion, would it not?"

Naizen Yukimori: "By opinion, I mean that our policies should not be stalled by the opposing opinion. So no it isn't, we have to swallow the pill as children are exposed to content they shouldn't and the average Kirishinan being exposed to media they rather avoid."

Georges Barasele: "Is peaceful opposition in government not apart of a functioning democratic system?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Opposition is fine and as you yourself just implied political. As such Liberty Party voters can be assured that their voice will be heard come April. We are peaceful changing things through the ballot box so I do not know what you are trying to imply"

Georges Barasele: "Forgive me Mr. Yukimori, I seemed to have misunderstood... On to prostitution, it seems from outside observers, that sex work is a part of Kirishinan culture, what do you say to people that accuse you of attempting to unilaterally change your country's cultural values?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Did you know that on Yamatai outside of the city of Hyuga and on the island of Hanarejima where Kasuga himself was originally from as a child. Sex was seen as a free and convivial affair. That in the nation at large Rasuto festival from the feast of Xueli on August 3rd to the feast of the Goddess Kamiya on August 8th nationwide is about "hooking up" with friends or for those truly undesirable with a temple kannushi (monk) or miko(priestess)? I am not aware of where the money part comes in. It's either the worker being exploited or the consumer being exploited and while we had it in the past it was more of trying to stay alive."

Georges Barasele: "You didn't answer the other part of my question. What do you say to people that accuse you of changing Kirishinan culture?"

Naizen Yukimori: "As I said I am not aware of where the sex for money comes into play regards to our culture," Naizen stated with a hint of annoyance betraying his previous composure

Georges Barasele: "Fair enough," The interviewer caught on to the slight change in his tone and it seemed that Yukimori was feeling the heat. Now it was high time for some hardball questions: "One of the big questions in Kirishinan foreign policy is Guadalupador and New Yama, according to Liberty's platform, Kirishinan foreign policy is to be only in the interests of Kirishima, which seems like that would sound like any blanket statement on any foreign policy for any state, how does the Federal Union and Quardya's New Yama play in a Liberty Party administration?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Hands off with no preference among the two Dorian states. We clearly overstayed our welcome in the North."

Georges Barasele: "I'm eager to hear more about this, I am a journalist for GNT after all, heh. Does the Liberty Party see the Federal Union as a subordinate state to Kirishima?"

Naizen chuckled "That status is why SACTO hasn't raised any issues with Kirishinan security operations in the area. Any foreign policy expert can deduce that. Treaty of Heiwa promised removal of SACTO and Kirishinan forces in a year's time. SACTO left and Kirishima increased its presence. Now with that in mind when Kasuga seeks increased trust and cooperation with allies who allowed unbalance in the region you Dorian including Sato lambaste Kasuga publicly. Unlike Kasuga, I won't hesitate to pull plugs due to semantics. So do I see it that way who knows but it's in Guadalupador's best interest that certain nations see it that way." Naizen added

Georges Barasele: "That's one statement to ruffle feathers back home, I'm sure." The interviewer joked. "So no equal partnership is in store for either Dorian states? Would you be open to offers of cooperation from New Yama?"

Naizen Yukimori: "Absolutely not. The government was formed via a coup by Triga, which was replaced by an internal coup. No democracy, a resulting refugee crisis. and in the pragmatic sense provide no value. We would still trade with solely the North but maintain a defense buffer for a government that doesn't appreciate it's importance is an insult and waste of troops as well as capital not to mention no strategic value to Kirishima"

Georges Barasele: "So in a sense, would you rather have the Federal Union be a full-scale satellite?"

Naizen Yukimori: "No need, the Federal Nation is a sovereign nation and for better or worse currently an ally. So long as the Federal Union avoids the disastrous foreign policies of leaders like Yanama, Saiko, Terten, and Kiryuin. I think SACTO will eventually not care about a united union in my opinion. All I know from my younger days, cease courtship with anyone no longer interested"

Georges Barasele: "You mentioned that the Federal Union 'doesn't appreciate' allied assistance in defense against an ever-present threat of New Yaman invasion, however, it seems that the official government stance from the Federal Union is that quote: 'Kirishima and Guadalupador are steadfast and close allies in an equal partnership in diplomacy, trade, and military matters.' Perhaps you're misconstruing the views of people rather than governments?"

Naizen Yukimori: Naizen chuckled and grinned before pulling out a piece of paper from his jacket pocket. "I must say while I didn't expect the exact wording...I was expecting that line of question at some point."

Naizen cleared his throat. "According to this Dorian publication during the trade deal with Cuscatlan, "Grand Premier Marcos expressed "sincere disappointment" in Kirishima and his colleague Arata Kasuga in particular as he spoke to the National Assembly yesterday and pledged that Cuscatlani resources and products would never enter Guadalupadorian markets. Marcos then blasted Kasuga saying: and I QUOTE "In all honesty, this is another slap in the face." Should I continue?" Naizen asked

Georges Barasele: “But of course, go on.”

Naizen Yukimori: "And keeping with the government response compared to the views of the people, the publication goes on to add that sources within the National Assembly have reported that the Yanamaist Party will be introducing a bill into the National Assembly to revoke Kirishima of its "Most Favored Nation" status "very, very soon." Now the revoking never happened but I think I demonstrated that it is not an either-or answer regarding government and people"

Georges Barasele: “And that’s the thing, Mr. Yukimori, it never happened. Official policy still stands, but I digress. If elected, how would you imagine your first phone call with the Grand Premier go, after all of what was just said? Abandoning one of your countries closest, if not Kirishima’s closest ally wouldn’t go over well in either camps, would it not?”

Naizen Yukimori: "As well as it can go given the circumstances. The only thing is I would re-iterate our nation's bonds but obey the intentions behind the treaty of Heiwa. Granted if the south actually tries to start something we would still back the North. Anyways if you have any more questions I only have time for one more."

Georges Barasele: “Now that we pivot from Kirishinan-Dorian relations to the Dorian migrants escaping New Yama and living in Kirishima. According to polls among Dorian migrants, the Liberty Party has the lowest rates of approval among all the major parties in this election, with some polls reporting nearly 2% approval at its highest average. This will be a multi-part question: What is your and Liberty’s view on the migration issue, is there any way to improve your party’s numbers among these new citizens, and does a Liberty Party administration have any solid plan for immigration and integration?”

Naizen Yukimori: "My view on the migration, immigration, and integration issue is that we need people that want to be here otherwise what's the point of living here. Now I am not sure how to improve those numbers nor am I looking to. I am not going to lie to cater to people, I have a vision that I have and will argue. Those who are drawn to it will vote."

Georges Barasele: “Well, that’s all the time we have, thank you Mr. Yukimori.”

Naizen Yukimori: "Thank you for having a dialogue with the other side"

A KBC exclusive of the Interview Series, Sugawara Kouji

Interview by Im Mi-Yeon

Discover the World Intro Song

: Intro begins with a view from space as the world slowly turns below before cutting to hosts Tanosuke Uyeda and Mi-Yeon Im in an open-top Sungwoo Safari SUV driving through the outback. Intro then proceeds to show Tanosuke and or Mi-Yeon in various shots all over the world eating local foods, interviewing people, attending concerts, football matches, etc. The final crescendo shows a pov camera shot of running off a cliff in the tropics before the camera pans up to the skies and the title Discover the World is written in the clouds. The camera cuts to Mi-Yeon and Kouji sitting across from each other in a room presumed to be within the home of Kouji Sugawara. Mi-Yeon smiles and turns towards the camera.

Im: "Good evening, welcome to Discover the World on the KBC Network, I'm your host Im Mi-Yeon. This is the program that shows the world and it's ideas so that we can have greater understanding throughout the world. Tonight with nationals election coming up in Kirishima, we have a special election edition of the program. I am here in the capital city of Heiwa. My guest tonight is the running under the brand new Prosperity Party, Sugawara Kouji!" Mi-Yeon turned to face Kouji and bowed her head.

"Hello and thank you for taking the time to do this interview."

Sugawara:" Well thank you for having me."

Im: "I really appreciate it, now I want to jump straight into some things with you if you don't mind."

Sugawara: "Not at all"

Im: "Why are you seeking the office of Dirigeant of Kirishima?"

Sugawara: "We are in a fortunate situation where we recovered tremendously from the Financial crisis of the 90's but we can't forget how we got there and how we recovered. Kirishima needs to be wise and fiscally conservative. I feel that our tax plan needs to be at a state where businesses can breathe and innovate. While I believe in these things, I also feel that I need to save the conservative-minded people of this country. The Liberty Party is ill-suited to the needs of Kirishima to the extent that most would only consider them if their economic beliefs adequately outweighed their cultural values.

Im: “Considering the Liberty Party, this is the first national election since the split. What personally made you join the Prosperity Party?”

Sugawara: "When the Conservative Party first got absorbed into the Liberty Party during Kiryuin's reign. I was optimistic that we had a unified coalition at steering the country in the right direction. This was until Tachibana-san's (Jaques Tachibana) run in the previous national election-

Im: "If I may, Tachibana-san did finish 3rd ahead of Ishida-san (Kenji Ishida) in the previous election. What would you say to those who said such a split was harmful and premature?"

Sugawara: "Sure we finished 3rd but 11% in the polls and Upper House seat allocation is not acceptable to my standards or anyone in the Prosperity Party for that matter. Tachibana's campaign was alienated a lot of people. So much so that those who considered us supported the H.E.S.L Coalition. We [Prosperity Party] are committed to what being conservative means to Kirishima and it's ideals and values. Not what is trended currently in right-wing circles around the world. They are not us and we are not and must never be like them. Otherwise, we betray who we are."

Im: "Considering that you have fewer resources do you think you are able to overcome the Liberty Party and fair much better in what is a five-candidate race? "

Sugawara: "I believe we can win the whole thing and I am not just saying that. The Liberty Party had tons of campaign tricks up their sleeves which hurt the more left-wing parties but H.E.S.L coalition soaked up the numbers instead. They used their position as traditionalists to show that they were a better right-wing choice despite their economics being anything but. They will not have this benefit this time also they lost some supporters while consolidating. As for the runner up Liberty Party, I think they are going to have more of a challenge from Kiri-Prog as Han-san (Kang-Hee) is not filled with questions and red flags regarding ties to the Philippine Bayan like Ishida-san was. As such I am feeling confident in my chances."

Im: "With that confidence, did you poach some of the advertising specialists from the Liberty Party?"

Sugawara: "Not at all, surely we learned some fundamentals from the last election but we wouldn't want to come across as populist. The Liberty Party has in our opinion set the populist movement back in this country. They said they stood up for the average Kirishinan but they came across as out of touch on certain points. With voters on guard, I feared we would be at a disadvantage to have a...familiar tone to the Liberty Party even if our ideas and policies are different from the Liberty Party."

Im: "Before we go on break I want to make sure we cover immigration and integration. An issue that has become very pressing it seems in recent times. While I don't want to spoil anything for your debate what is your overall view on immigration and integration? ”

Sugawara: "Skilled and compatible, we have never been a nation that assured people that we will take all incomers. We have no responsibility on that front and it should remain that way. We need to make sure that those who come into Kirishima will be functional members of our community and not needing welfare. Secondly, we need to make sure that they are compatible with our culture and not seek to change things to resemble their culture. Wanting to move to Kirishima just to better your life is not enough, we need to be sure that anyone who comes to Kirishima, will not be at odds with core norms of being a Kirishinan. The formation of this population has always been a broad ethnic spread unified under a common identity. We must not let that identity to be tampered with."

Im: "Thank you, we will be back with Sugawara-san after these messages.

OOC: Post was written in cooperation with Guadalupador
Kokubu Bistro
Liberal Union Party: Rita Revant
Heiwa| Kirishima

Former Sous-Premier and current Dirigeant candidate Rita Revant wanted to better understand and better appeal to the Dorian community of Kirishima. If she could have a strong showing in Dorian support at the expense of the Jeontongdang (formerly H.E.S.L Coalition Party) it could make up a big difference compared to her party's runner up position in the last national election.

"Ok Yuno, I'll meet up with you after lunch. I want to keep the conversation personal." Rita stated to her campaign manager Yuno Hayashida in front of the bistro.

"I understand, I'll be eating in this area if you need me," Yuno responded before walking off.

"Table for 2" Rita stated as she walked into the Bistro and was led towards the back.

"I assume the table is under Revant" The waiter asked recognizing the former Sous-Premier and current Dirigeant candidate.

"Why yes, it is" Rita replied before waiting for her guest as the waiter left.

“...over there? Yes. I see them, thank you.” Natalya Saiko, The former Grand Premier of Guadalupador, thanked the hostess for directing her toward Revant’s table. “Hello Rita, how are you today?”

"Ah Natalya, I'm well. Don't be a stranger!" Rita exclaimed standing up giving a friendly hug. "How have you been?" Rita followed up

Saiko returned the hug before taking her seat across from Rita. “I’ve been well, we’re in the middle of exam season at the university, and I’ll be up to my neck in grading.” The exile said. “Though, I’d assume that you’d be much busier given that you’re running for Dirigeant, no?” Saiko asked

Rita giggled "Oh I am definitely busy. Planes, trains, cars throughout the nation making my case. Last two times Satsuki did all the work and the other time Kasuga inherited my services. But I'm sure you don't need me detailing campaign struggles as a former world leader now do you?" Rita smiled

“Oh, I remember the campaign trail all too well, very stressful stuff. Enrique was a big help with his endorsement and all though.” Saiko looked back on her campaign as Federation Party candidate, running to succeed and continue Enrique Yanama’s policies as Grand Premier. “I think I beat Marcos by a small margin back then.” The former Grand Premier mused on the man that succeeded her after she was pressed into exile. “So given the current circumstances of the election, I assume this isn’t just a lunch between friends.” Natalya smiled

"Yes, my campaign is something I would like to heavily discuss but considering the last time I saw you was during your wedding. I'll like to consider this primarily as lunch between friends." Rita replied

“Has it really been that long? Goddess, that had to have been, what? Two years ago? Everyone was there, weren’t they?”

"Yes, even that sadist running CP 9 but considering her relationship with your husband, it was to be expected. How's the adjustment to the culture?" Rita asked

“It gets easier every day... I feel like I’ve been saying that since I made my resignation speech.” She sighed. “I mean it’s been going well, there’s still a part of me back there, but what Pierre and I built here is keeping me tethered. I’m genuinely glad to be here.”

"I'm sure that you must be tired of being asked that so often but it's good to know how your experience is and was." Rita began. "...I didn't want to segue so soon but h-"

"Are you ready to order?" A waiter asked. "Yes, how about you Natayla?" Rita asked

“No, it’s fine. I really don’t mind getting asked.” She said before the waiter arrived. “Yes, let’s order.” Natalya said, eager to continue the conversation.

"Have you had Gogi Ppang yet?"

“I have not, but I’d be willing to try that’s for sure.”

"Excellent, we will have two Gogi Ppang classic but mild spice and two Thai ice teas. Thank You" Rita ordered. "You're going to love it, it's marinated pork tenderloin with pickled vegetables in a baguette...essentially a Kirishinan Banh Mi when simplified," Rita remarked taking a sip of water. "Anyways where was I, yes I was going to ask what have you been hearing among the various Dorian communities if anything regarding needs and concerns?" Rita asked

“Well many of them have their own local concerns, language barriers, integration into Kirishinan society is still a barrier, not as large as it was a few years ago thankfully but it’s still there nonetheless.” Saiko continued to think. “I know that language recognition is still one issue that many in the diaspora are involved in, at least locally. We are a very prideful people when it comes to speaking our language. Some people that I’ve talked to are saying that they’ve experienced discrimination from some Kirishinans about speaking Dorian in public. What else, what else, what else.... ah, there’s still families that are waiting for members still trapped in New Yama, they want the government to tell Quardya to open up the gates again so they can get their family members out of there.” Saiko paused for a second further to collect her thoughts “Ah yes, there is that too... well, they’re quite anxious about Yukimori, after everyone saw that interview that GNT did with him, they’re sure he’ll throw them to Quardya or Silva. They do not like him at all, and you can tell he doesn’t like us either.” Saiko stated

"What do you mean by discrimination? Like denial of business and services?" Rita asked

“It varies from place to place, I’ve heard reports of remarks and ridicule made at Dorians speaking their native tongue, to, rarely, shops refusing to serve people that are speaking Dorian, even when they switch to French, or another national language

"Oh my, that's really a shock to hear. Especially after switching back to French or Japanese. That seems to go against the very history of our nation." Rita began concerned. "Have you ever checked to see if anyone reached out to any news or legal channels?" Rita asked

“I have for a few of the most extreme cases of discrimination: One family is attempting to sue a restaurant manager after the manager allegedly threw them out for speaking Dorian.

Another individual is pressing charges against the government’s relocation bureau for relocating him and his family to Slavyansk. (Which I assume wasn’t supposed to happen.) Apparently he and his family endured months of slurs before he finally had it after a group of five men mugged him all the while yelling ethnic slurs at him. He wants to move out of Slavyansk for his and his family’s safety, at least that’s what he alleged. That’s the most extreme of the cases.”

"That's a significantly careless oversight. If you could give me the contact information for both those families, I will see to it that they have quality legal representation and resources." Rita lamented. "What would you say Dorian-Kirishinans expect from their government and what would they not expect but love to see from their government?"

“I can get you the contact information for both of them and more right after lunch, I can send it all to you.” Saiko said, pulling out her phone and looking through it to find them. “Yeah, that’s a ridiculous oversight, I didn’t even know people could be relocated there.” Natalya shook her head. She listened to Rita’s question intently and thought about it for a moment. “Now, I’m not the sole authority within the diaspora, but a few general things that we expect from our government is simply respect, dignity, and the freedom to express our identity. Kirishima is a multi-ethnic state and even though we’re some of the newest people, we expect to be treated with as much respect as everyone else.

Now, what would we not expect but love to see? I know a lot of Dorians would like to see language recognition at a prefectural level,
The Guadalan Holy Week getting recognition alongside your festival that happens around the same time in August. Media representation is always nice too, I know that there’s a few more but I can’t pin them right now.”

"Not a probably, you've given me a lot. Some of the things I had a feeling of and some of the things were surprising. Nonetheless knowing the concerns of citizens important especially this newer wave from Guadalupador and the Philippines"

“It seems like some of your opposition want to treat all this like a crisis.”

"Fear, I suppose it's fear. Kirishima has never been ethnically homogeneous but has had periods of cultural homogeneity and peace. Outside of Slavyansk, I suppose there are some who feel that there will be more division. Other than that possibility, I don't see where that mindset is coming from"

“Some would like to exploit that, to drum up fantasies of the supposed periods of ‘homogeneity’ and try to get Kirishinans to turn their backs on the newest citizens. It seems parties like Liberty are well on their way to doing that.” Saiko said. “Y’know, keep this off the record, but I think I know where this close-minded mindset comes from, and it isn’t native... maybe SACTO or something.” Saiko leaned in close and whispered to Rita.

"It's lunch between friends everything is off the record, I see what you mean but is there something that you notice about SACTO's influence." Rita whispered back

“So you see it in Yukimori too?”

"Yukimori is the latest making that kind of noise but I have no idea if it's SACTO inspired."

“That interview he did shed tons of light. Every word he said about Dorian-Kirishinan relations was practically lifted out of Carlos Silva’s mouth. I’m serious, look up a few things Silva said after Heiwa, and you’ll see the similarities.”

"I think it's more serious than that. I don't think Yukimori words alone are enough to make people view things in a close-minded light." Rita replied with a sigh

“I just fear he’s another Trigra waiting to happen.”

"Considering what you went through, I can understand those concerns, but I can assure you that there are many other candidates after myself with greater odds of winning in my opinion."

“Without a doubt, but Trigra never won a national election either.”

"Never understood how a representative had the power or authority to manifest a coup in Guadalupador. Unless there is something missing that I am not getting, do not worry." Rita said with a smile

“He was more of the face of it all, really. As a part of a fifth column that we didn’t know about until it was far too late...” She paused, silently cursing herself for not knowing. She took a deep breath and continued: “Trigra was a laughing stock, nobody ever really took him seriously. That was the mistake, with that damned Quardya who was pulling the strings. Don’t brush people like Yukimori off. Take that from me.”

"I will but outside treating him like any other campaign there is nothing else I can do without drawing sympathy towards him for being singled out. I don't think that type of attention is good."

“You’re right. Just be wary of him.”
