My dear Prime Minister, I thank you for your letter dated the 13th instant relating to the search and rescue operation initiated by the Grand Duchy for the lost Air Nidwalden aircraft on flight no. AI180. I understand that immediate international co-operation is required if those 221 souls are to be found alive. To this end, the Privy Council, in consultation with the Lord Staff Board, has authorised the deployment of Navy Royal sailors and officers to the Atlpacinarcticadian Ocean, with the immediate despatch of four (iv) ships and two (ii) aircraft, both with crew and with orders to assist in any way possible with the aforementioned operation. I trust that the Navy Royal will efficiently provide valuable contributions to the operation. I have directed Commodore Sir Edward Courtenay to provide further information to the operations head quarters, through the usual channels.
