It takes courage!!

Postby Imperial Newfoundland Island » Fri Mar 27, 2020 9:04 pm

It takes Intelligence, Experience, Money, Network Courage only to create Region of your own.

“If you don’t DEPLOY yourself — others will employ you.”

“If you don’t live YOUR dreams — others will use you to live their dreams.”

“If you don’t manage CHANGE — change will manage you.”

“If you don’t make DECISIONS — others will make decisions for you.”

I don't feel any shame in accepting that I am not too good at managing my region. It's okey to be unnoticed independent LEADER than being well known dependent WORKER. (1/∞)

This poll seems biased...where's the "I love being in a feeder" option? So far I've had none of those options happen to me.

Haha.. Yeah a bit biased but I was asking for what you don't like the most so options like I love being in feeder region sounds irrational. Isn't?

Well, I literally haven't encountered any of those options listed, so I guess I can't vote?

ORRRR....or you join a well managed region where members work together as friends and come together to get things done. Where things are based on merit, not favouritism and people are given a safe space to be themselves and enjoy themselves, free of the fear of exploitation by others. It's admirable to strike out on your own, but don't let the fear of others hold you back from finding a great community to join. It's not all black and white, good or bad, us vs. them. Not all feeders are terrible places *gasp*, and this is coming from me, a hard line self proclaimed Userite :P

I have never had any of the above problems and in fact found life a lot easier as a no-name than I have since. It’s also not hard depending on your region to make an impression. Citizenship helps a lot and if you work hard and showcase your best abilities, it’s not like they’ll go totally unnoticed. This is true in both democratic and meritocratic GCRs. They are not for everyone though and there are lovely places in the UCRs as well like Aynia said for those who feel like they do not fit into GCRs.

Not quite. Only the Pacific was present at the founding of NS. The rest have been added over the years, most recently Balder/Osiris in 2011. There are 5 Feeders, 3 Sinkers, 1 Catcher, and 6 Warzones, for a total of 15 GCRs.

Edit: Removed wrong number.

So these are all “admin” regions that take people in based on different criteria.

So these are all “admin” regions that take people in based on different criteria.

Feeders are where nations spawn, the refound sinkers are where they re-spawn, and TRR (also a sinker, referred to as a catcher) is where you go when you're yeeted out of places. The warzones have special ban list rules which mean you can't stay banned. They're an R/D sandbox, but pretty meaningless.

This.

But GCRs scare me away with their size, I feel more confident engaging in a smaller community of nations. It's less daunting to get involved and easier to keep up with the messages.

If you like larger communities feeders are the way to go though ;)

I like them too because no matter what, they will have an active RMB. UCR's aren't as active, even the big ones pale compared to the Pacifics.

But it's much more satisfying building an active community from the ground up. I guess my perspective has changed over these years, I mean I am a puppet founder nation and now I use this more often.

I started a couple of regions. One, which I put a ton of effort into, never took off. The other only got 2 nations who left.

I'm comfortable in my current region. For now.

Me too. But not sinkers, those are strangely inactive.

I'm lucky to have a reasonably active region. The small ones I've been in before have all vanished or left inactive.
