Domestic service is a major employer of people in Great Nortend. 28 per cent of all girls enter into domestic service, followed by 10 per cent into commercial service (e.g. secretarial, clerical, sales). A defining quality for families of middle class status is keeping at at least one maid. A defining feature of the gentry is keeping at least one male servant. It is considered unbecoming and even uncharitable for persons of means not to employ sufficient staff as are needed.

Service is considered a respectable occupation, and provides both stable employment as well as usually room and board. Indoor servants may be junior (page, scullery maid, kitchen maid, footmen, chamber maid) or senior (butler, steward, housekeeper, cook, lady's maid, valet). Senior female indoor servants and male servants may marry but housemaids must usually leave service upon marriage. Married servants usually live with their husband or wife, either in the house if both are servants or if the servant is a senior male servant, or in a separate flat or cottage close by.

Working class households also often employ servants. Charwomen, laundrywomen and “women from the village” commonly are employed on an ad hoc basis and are paid hourly unlike maids who live in. Outdoor servants are generally male and include land agents, chauffeurs, coachmen, gardeners and grooms.

Moral Dilemmas
Will an average citizen kill one person to save five? No, but they would kill five people to save one.
- If no, will they do it if they were making someone else kill them? Yes.
Will they sacrifice themselves to save 2 others? No, but they would sacrifice themselves to save one other.
If they had to kill one of two people, and one is begging to be killed to save the other, which will they kill? Your average citzen would kill themselves in this situation.
If an endangered animal was about to kill a citizen, would they kill the animal? Yes.
- If no, what if a person of high authority was getting attacked? No, because Ruritanaises have no respect for authority
- if yes, what if the animal was an endling? The Ruritanaise would enjoy killing the animal more.
If a person who saved 2 lives before was trying to kill someone, would they allow it? No.
- If yes, what if they only saved one persons? No.
- If no, how many people would they have to save beforehand to get allowance? This question is ridiculous.

I don't know if this nation represents my political views.

How does your nation tell time? Meaning, how do they denote a certain hour and a certain minute? Like 9:37 pm for example, if your nation even tells time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours. The government owned companies of Andocara uses the 24 hour clock, while most private owned companies use the 12 hour clock. Andocarians don’t really tell time based on the 24 hour format unless in formal situations, like business meetings. They’ll say things like “We’re having a meeting here on Wednesday at 15 hours.” Denoting that they’ll have a meeting Wednesday at 15:00 or 3:00 pm. Or they’ll say “This project is due tonight at twenty two thirty time.” Denoting that the project is due at 22:30 or 10:30 pm. But this is only for formal settings. In regular situations, they tell time based on the 12 hour format just like any other North American.

Diarcesians denote a moment in time by including seconds as well. As an example, someone might say "This would put the race at 2:22:12." The context of the topic usually determines whether it is am or pm.

Does your country have a WMD program ? Yes
If so, can you explain some of its history: From 1958 the NAU has atomic, biological, and chemical weapons, but the latter two are being phased out by national policy (by 2020) and a ban on usage in wartime or military response since 1970.
An alt-America that had a grand bargain struck with London in the 1760s and remained under the British Crown (Turtledove's "The Two Georges"), mixed with some of Sobel's "For Want of a Nail" and a lot of the anthology "Columbia and Britannia," the sci-fi NZ novel "Anno Domini 2000 or Woman's Destiny", and cameos of other alternate histories. “The Rock of the Britannic Commonwealth,” an alliance of Britannic and former colonies as partner-nations in personal union and/or in association.

Does your nation have a Red Cross, Red Crescent, or other Red society? Yes, the NAU Society of Wartime Aid, aka the NAU Red Cross.
When was it founded? In 1881, during the Turkestan War, as the International Society of Wartime Aid, aka the Red Cross (due to alternate history)
Where are its headquarters? London, United Kingdom, United Commonwealth

The military is viewed extremely positively especially the Royal Air Force.

Are officers viewed positively or negatively:
Extremely positively

Very high intelligence, education, leadership skills, courage, discipline and honour.
Are soldiers viewed positively or negatively?
Extremely positively (military training is compulsory so most people have a better idea of what soldiers do than people in many countries)
What qualities are soldiers viewed as having?
Courage, discipline, strength and honour.

How does the Milltary influence society?
Keeping people safe in times of crisis (such as the Covid-19 epidemic) and being involved in the socialisation of young men.

How does society influence the Millitary?
By providing the military with ethical and legal norms on which to operate.

Are there any festivals linked to the Millitary
Yes.
Rememberance Day is linked to the Military. So, to some extent, are St. George's and St.Andrew's Days.

What clock does YN use by default?
A. 12 hour clock
B. 24 hour clock
C. Both
(D. Other) They often use some kind of computer that studies the sun’s movements in the sky to tell what hour is it.

How does your nation tell time? Meaning, how do they denote a certain hour and a certain minute? Like 9:37 pm for example, if your nation even tells time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours. Depending on the time of day, it’s either Morning (also known as rising time), Noon (also known as peak time), Evening (also known as falling time or harvest time), or night (also known as dormant time or nadir time). There aren’t any concepts of units smaller than minutes.
Not to be mistaken for Suburbia.

How does your nation tell time? Meaning, how do they denote a certain hour and a certain minute? Like 9:37 pm for example, if your nation even tells time in terms of seconds, minutes and hours. While the 24-hour clock has been the sole legally recognized clock in the Democratic Republic since 1922, usage of the 12-hour clock is still common when speaking, although usage of AM or PM is uncommon unless needed to be said due to ambiguity. In common speech, the terms 'half-[time]','quarter-[time]', etc. refer to how long until the mentioned time (so, the term 'half-ten' would either mean 9.30 or 21.30, depending on the time of day).

When it comes to writing times, a full stop, not a colon, is used as the separator and leading zeroes are sometimes used for the hour, but not required. It is possible for times actually be counted past the 24-hour mark, this is most commonly used for business open past midnight or for TV scheduling. (Examples: A store that, in the normal 24-hour notation is open from 7.00 until 1.00 might instead list their hours as from 7.00 until 25.00. A TV channel airing a movie from 23.30 until 1.30 might instead say the film will be aired from 23.30 until 25.30)
