The good news about self isolation is that I'm finally feeling more myself than I have in months. I feel better able to handle the things in my life that have been weighing on me, and making it hard to function properly. Something that made me smile recently was a video of Fiona the hippo. Not sure if anybody knows of her, but it was a video of her jumping to the surface of the water and diving back down over and over again. She seemed to be having a lot of fun. :)

My friend Ty wants to revive my old YouTube channel and commercialize the hell out of it. He wants to hire an animator and a screenwriter to write my lines and wants to be sponsored by companies like how many famous youtubers are. He wants them to run ads on the videos and everything.

I told him no, I don't want anyone commercializing my old content. It's mine, and I didnt do it for the money.

Yesterday I reconnected with someone via Messenger that I met at World Pride last year. We video chatted for almost two hours. When this is all over he wants me to come visit Minneapolis were he lives.

So I found this back! ♥

I found it from a Chinese website, given the nature of the show, but I reuploaded a small portion of it on YouTube because I want to listen to it myself without watching the rest of the show. So... it's a sweet little tune, though I'm not exactly sure what the lyrics meant. I might ask around! ^^

It's important and sunshine to me because when I was a kid and Satellite TV was all the rage, this was one of those things I watched in 2005. Little me didn't know anything then, and I still don't know now.

Even for a 5000 year old sword which has a lot of value, you can be sure that back then they use it as a meat skewer. :P

Well, tonight's smiles (and a whole lot of raucous laughter) were caused by video chatting with my friends since normally we all get together in person every Friday. Then most everyone in the call busted out either the alcohol or the edibles and proceeded to play Cards Against Humanity online until almost midnight. Good times. Also, I'm ever so slightly buzzed after my cider, so that's also fun. ^_^ Also why I'm not doing any modstuff at the moment, because don't drink and DEAT!

I've not seen that but I didn't mind Anna Kendrick in Into the Woods... but please nobody sing that song.

Last night, my light distraction was the 2004 remake of The Stepford Wives. I haven't seen it for about a decade. The original is the classic, and it's best not to worry about the ending of this one too much. But it's silly and makes me laugh, and there are some brilliant actors (Glenn Close is fantastic, whatever she's in).

Nice.

With the caveat that I'm not remotely a specialist in Bronze Age Armenia/Eastern Anatolia, I've been involved in enough Bronze Age / early Iron Age weaponry curation while supporting the development of new museums in the Persian Gulf and Egypt that had Dr (as I believe she now is) Dall'Armellina come to me with a hunch over the sword and shown me a picture, I'd like to think I would have enthusiastically encouraged more research.

That type of sword, made out of a single piece of copper alloy, and in that particular form, is definitely much more consistent with being pre-medieval. Though personally I wouldn't have been able to offer a more precise date or a more specific provenance beyond the latter observation.

So kudos to Dr Dall'Armellina.

I've spent a few voice chat nights (on merry ol' Teamspeak!) with some of my old gamer clan mates from my pre-NS pastimes I haven't heard of for a while as of recently, making jokes and digging out old memories all the time (waiting for my neighbors to complain ^^), involving some good beer and cider as well. Should these regular voice chat nights continue, some of them surely won't mind a round of Cards Against Humanity, even though I'm sure, that we already know each other too well to genuinely surprise each other in that regard. ^^
That made my day - just like this thread, which is almost awkwardly positive! :D

I've put together the basis and starting point of my first 1st Edition AD&D campaign (I'm old-school; several of my rulebooks are even signed by Gary Gygax) in years.

It's designed for 1st-level characters. The starting point is an insane 4th-level druid who's trying to re-wild the territory under her protection by expelling the small human hamlet of 60 souls that lies on the outskirts of the forest she lives in. She'll start by trying to frighten them away by using a family of cannibal pseudo-undead 'ghouls' to raid the village's cemetery. Assuming the PCs defeat the 'ghouls' on behalf of the villagers, her neutral good wood elf ranger henchman (who either doesn't yet appreciate that she's insane, or might be operating under a 'charm person' spell; need to work that one out) will reach out to the PCs to try and bring them to her side; so as things develop they'll be forced to decide who's side they're on. Both sides will need to try and reach out to a local dryad and nymph pair who reside two days' travel away from the village, and who could cause great difficulties to one of the village's main sources of fresh, pure water if they take the druid's side - if they prove contactable at all. The dryad will be less of a problem here than the nymph; 1st edition nymphs are almost impossible to contact directly.

In time the druid's insanity will become clearer; early on she just comes across as a bit fanatical. It's possible that the gods would withdraw her spell-casting ability if she goes too far, but that would have to come at some sort of climactic confrontation. That's still a bit fuzzy, but I have time to develop that as we move on.

It's been great fun pulling this together; and yes, has made me happy.

Running sessions remotely (due to quarantines) could be more of a challenge; but let's see if it works.

1st Edition brings back good times for me. My elder siblings and cousins used to play it while I was too young to really get what was going on.

There was a cool fold out map of Xanzer Tem's salt mines or something, and foldable figurines.

Rediscovered the pleasure of watching old Bollywood movies. Put aside the crappy special sound effects and very high pitched singing voices and they’re all downright cheery. It’s also pleasant to see the changing styles of fashion in women’s traditional clothing. The silly plot lines make me smile and bring back a sense of, I don’t know, simplicity.

Love rewatching Chandni especially, with the late Sri Devi. That lady’s talent for traditional dancing has always been amazing.
