The Firearms Branch of the Special Operations division of a constabulary, commonly known as the Gendarmery, is the equivalent to an American SWAT team. Unlike regular constables, who are not routinely armed with firearms and if armed, only carry pistols or shotguns, Armed Constables carry automatic or semi-automatic rifles and pistols regularly and are trained in high-risk situations with armed or dangerous persons.

The Ivorian Gendarmerie functions as the Ivory Coasts' police tactical unit, dealing with incidents beyond the capabilities of normal patrol officers including riot control, high risk warrants and hostage situations.

Zhouran has no SWAT equivalent due the fact that the Public Security Corps is the gendarmerie branch of the Zhouranese People's Army. Because Zhouran is the most hyper-militarized nation on earth due to being a several-millennia-old stratocratic civilization with a highly-impassioned warrior culture and fervid martial-ethos, the country has never had any civilian police force in its entire history and instead only having gendarmes instead. Because of Zhouran's gendarmerie police model, created in 1860, the Zhouranese concept of gendarmerie is different from foreign counterparts. While foreign gendarmerie tend to be lightly-armed paramilitaries that provide assistance to a nation's civilian police force, a Zhouranese gendarmerie on the other hand is a military police force with civilian law-enforcement duties and is either a civil law-enforcement component of a land army or a separate service branch of a military. Zhouranese gendarmeries are not to be confused with provosts, and under the Zhouranese military provost model, also created in 1860, a military provost is essentially a military police within each service branch of a military. As a result, gendarmes are themselves policed by provosts. In comparison, foreign civilian police forces and gendarmeries do not utilize such mechanics as these mechanisms are uniquely found within the modern Zhouranese military model, also created in 1860. In Zhouran, gendarmeries within the Zhouranese military model are seen as the closest modern equivalent to the Kangmuketaluojia of ancient & medieval times, which is a type of military law-enforcement individual, specifically a military commander, that patrols a certain area, is responsible for enforcing all law being upheld within their jurisdiction, has troops under their personal command, and has the power to try, sentence and even execute a criminal on the spot.

The Public Security Corps is the gendarmerie branch of the Zhouranese People's Army. Being a service branch of the ZPA, the PSC is heavily-armed to the point that it has more firepower than low-to-mid tier foreign militaries. PSC gendarmes on the beat carry the usual common police equipment such as taser, baton, handcuffs, pistol, etc., but unlike foreign civilian police forces, the average PSC gendarme is also issued with military-grade gear such as soft- to hard-plate bulletproof vests, a primary weapon such as an assault rifle, shotgun or even a battle rifle, and for high-level situations such as violent riots, military helmet, gas-masks, as well as riot shields or ballistic shields depending on the actual situation.

Within Zhouran, the PSC is described as "being a bigger better-armed military than actual foreign militaries", and while the battle-hardened highly-experienced personnel of the ZPA Ground Force are the most heavily-armed, heavily-equipped, and heavily-mechanized than their foreign counterparts of any other militaries in the world, PSC gendarmes on the other hand are known to be well-armed and well-equipped and even well-mechanized to the point that they even rival foreign military infantries. The Public Security Corps itself is also heavily-mechanized as it operates a large number of armored vehicles including APCs and IFVs, not to mention that the PSC operates the third-largest helicopter fleet in the nation behind the ZPA Air Force and ZPA Naval Aviation.

For several years, Zhouran has always been known for having some of the lowest crime rates in the world as well as some of the highest safety indexes as well, this is in part due to social security and providing easy-access to jobs without restrictions in order to promote social mobility and basic right to employment, thus preventing the radicalization of potential criminals since crime especially seen in the western capitalist world is mainly due to various factors including lack of social mobility and job opportunity along with poverty being a reflection of a nation's society & economics rather than being a "personal choice" as touted by the 1% and their corporate loyalists. With very-low crime rates and a very-high safety index, this means the Public Security Corps can focus on dissuading potential threats such as terrorism or mass shootings. The PSC also engages in liaison operations with local communities in order to promote the Zhouranese People's Army's mission of serving and defending the Zhouranese People & Nation from internal & external threats. Most of the time, the PSC mainly deals with small-scale petty crimes and from time-to-time they'll also be tasked with supervising political rallies and prevent both the political-moderate and the political-hardline from engaging in massive protest brawls since the Zhouranese are known for holding massive political rallies and turning into bloodbaths in the streets between the two political sides.

Our entire police force is heavily militarized, to the point that we are under martial law. We don’t use regular police cars, we use tanks. Our entire law enforcement is like a swat team, but much more militarized and much more brutal. Hundreds of thousands, of not millions, of people are massacred each year by our police. We show no mercy and execute even newborns. We also have elite death squads that are used for targeted assassinations and forced disappearances. The Mcnernian/Archinian equivalent of a SWAT team depends on the situation. In most situations the local Provincial Police are effective enough. The local Special Response team which is made of trained officers and responsible for a city or county area is not as capable as the Mcnernian/Archinian Royal Constabulary. Which is the National Police force of mcnernia which handles everything from Organized Crime to Terrorism and everything in between.
The provincial Police have SRTs. Which train to handle most things a US SWAT Team would be tasked with handling.


The Royal Constabulary has their own Special Response Units which are like FBI SWAT teams in the USA.


The finest and the Bravest of the Brave are the Special Task Force, trained in the finest methods of Counter Terrorism and CQB they are called on like the FBIs HRT or GSG 9 in Germany.

Riot and disturbance situations are handled by the Support Units which like their SRU counterparts are Specially Trained. All officers have powers of arrest. The riot gear looks like something like this.


Each province also has its own support units. Vehicles range from the humble SUV 4x4 to large 8x8 APCs which are rarely used by the support units.

Known primarily as a CIT - “Crisis Intervention Team” - the SangMarian equivalent to a SWAT team has a slightly different purpose to other police tactical units seen on this thread.

For one, a CIT is a unit under a joint security-health command structure, and as such, it’s primary duty is to help, not kill those who it is called out to. Of course, in some cases, this cannot be helped. But for those that it can, a CIT contains the following:

4x Officers armed with semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and other light weaponry.

2x Paramedics, who are much more lightly armed - carrying no rifle, or other armament except a pistol. In addition, paramedics mainly carry medical equipment - chest seals, dressings, tourniquets, wrist-worn blood pressure readers etc.

1x Mental Health Nurse, who also carries only a pistol - but whose value comes from being able to advise the rest of the team on potential mental health conditions applicable to each incident.

1x Battlefield Surgeon, although the term is frowned upon, a “Battlefield Surgeon” does just that - carrying a pistol, and a variety of small medical tools and equipment that can be used to perform emergency medical procedures should they be needed in a timely manner.

1x Mobile Surgery Unit - a heavily modified van, typically stationed just outside of an area containing an active incident - contains heavier equipment that the battlefield surgeon cannot take with them. Is staffed by three nurses, a second battlefield surgeon and two officers, who are tasked with protecting the vehicle and it’s occupants, they’re equipped, uniquely with with select-fire rifles and pistols.

In Monsone there are two forces that can perform the duties of a SWAT team. The first is the Policija Estatalek Monsone (PEM) which besides acting as a regular police force can be used in the SWAT role.
