Les Frères, or The Brothers, are a small and poor pair of islands located in the Columbian Sea. In 1508, Azuran explorers claimed the islands for (Nation). For the next few centuries, various powers would pass around control of the islands until they settled under control of Midrasia. In 1810, as an echo of the Midrasian revolution, the slaves on the island began to revolt against the plantation owners of the islands. These attacks eventually led to the landowners asking the mainland for help. This conflict would continue for the next two decades with escaped slaves raiding plantations and executing the slave owners living there. Eventually, the Midrasian government decided that the island wasn't worth the effort and withdrew its troops to better focus on its expansion in the east. Many of the landowners who hadn't already fled or been killed also left at this time. Les Frères was now defacto independent(Midrasia didn't officially recognize the country until 1882) and in 1833 The Articles of Community were completed organizing the islands into 140 communes and establishing the weekly Council of Communal Representatives. In 1875, Midrasia attempted to reassert its authority over the islands but they were ultimately forced to withdraw. After harsh negotiations between communal leaders and the Midrasian government, they officially became independent in 1882. The remaining major events in the history are mostly various natural disasters that have struck the island. Today the country is known as a historical oddity, a stateless slave revolt that managed to hold off the might of one of the greatest armies in the world.

How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): I Fratelli generally likes to keep to itself. Strengths: unscarred natural beauty, vibrant culture. Cons: prone to natural disasters, very little economic power.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Idk maybe have an imperialist power invade. The country is pretty weak to start with.

How did you hear about Aeia?: I am a former member looking to get a new start with a different nation idea.
What other nations do you use on NS?: None that still exist.

IC nation name: Federal Republic of Brilliania (Beriliorszag; Berílet Szövetségi Köztársaság)
Capital: Szaraenközel (largest city is Szentmári)
Government type: Federal presidential republic
RP population: 23,792,090
Ethnic Group(s):
Brillian 88%
Chokashian/Lachlovian 6%
Other/unspecified 6%
Religions:
Marism/Brillian Paganism 33%
Alydianism 32%
Secularism/Ietsism/Atheism 32%

Language(s): Brillian (Hungarian), with some minorities speaking their own language
GDP per capita (USD): $24,575
HDI: 0.822
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):
The current Brillian state was created in the thirteenth century after a royal diet was convened by King Miklós III, who swiftly conquered most of the small pagan kingdoms which constituted the modern area of Brilliania. A deciding factor in the unification was the revival of local paganism by a saint named Mari, resulting in a local religion, Marism, becoming dominant in most areas of Brilliania. The dominance of Marism was partly countered by an Alydian crusade in the 14th century, resulting in an incomplete conversion and sparking major religious tensions between crusaders and Marists, with the dual conversions resulting in major fights and eventually resulting in petty kingdoms co-existing with the Miklós-led areas under the leadership of Marist clergy. The petty kingdoms called a joint diet in the year 1487, forming the Kingdom of the Holy Flame (Szentláng Királyszág), forming a parallel monarchy by the Szábo dynasty with multiple skirmishes with the Marist Brilliania and neighbouring nations until the targeted death of highly popular king Arpád in 1823 resulting in a popular uprising in Brilliania and the Contract of Republican Unification in 1860 which united the Kingdom of the Holy Flame with Brilliania and forming a secular republic. Tensions between Alydians and Marists resulted in a civil war in 1888, resulting in a ceasefire and a return to status-quo in 1901. Despite the civil war, a disjointed and loose Brillian response to Brilliania resulted in both factions supporting the Concordat under pressure from neighbouring nations. The first Brillian legislature was convened in 1905 under terms of the ceasefire, with a disjointed and ineffective constitutional assembly being unable to convene a constitution and resulting in the secular Homeland Protection Units performing a succesful military coup, the Restaurant Coup (Etteremállamcsíny; referring to the planning of the coup taking place in a restaurant in Szentmári), and the National Order taking control until a popular revolution in 1953. After a constitutional assembly in 1955 known as the Effective Assembly wrote a constitution within a year of being elected, the first Brillian constitution was signed in 1956 and resulted in stability for the newly democratic nation. A radical group of Alydianists established the Society of the Flame in 1960, which was responsible for a series of attacks until the Agreement of Szaraneközel was signed in 1988, which established the planned city as Szaraneközel as the new capital of Brilliania as Szentmári is a major religious area for Marists and provided further concessions to the Alydian population.

Geography and climate of nation: Brilliania has a moderate humid continental climate (Dfb) with parts of it in a Subarctic climate (Dfc) under mild influences of the Gulf of Alemannia. Parts of northern Brilliania are affected by permafrost.

IC nation name: Federal Republic of Jiha (ᨁᨐᨈ ᨕᨙᨀᨐᨙᨕᨘ ᨍᨗᨖ, gyata-ekyew jiha)
Capital: Aram
Government type: Federal presidential republic
RP population: 190 million
Ethnic Group(s): Akan peoples, some Indo-Aryan minority groups
Language(s): Niger-Congo languages (the whole family to ensure there’s enough wiktionary pages to make it meaningful) and some minority Indo-Aryan languages
GDP per capita (USD): $1,500
HDI: .49
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):
The lakes region of inner Jiha is home to some of the earliest humans, who developed in small band societies in the lush Brune rainforest between 200,000 and 150,000 years ago. Small stone tools from the area have been dated to between 15,000 and 10,000 years ago, primarily microliths. Pottery and the related pyrotechnology developed later in the same period, approximately 9,500 BCE. Domesticated crops such as millet and rice greatly expanded the population of inner regions at a time when the coastal area was still dominated by pastoralists and band societies.

Urban society developed in two distinct fashions; the interior stone-cutter culture and the coastal mud-brick system. The mudbrick system was generally easier to deploy and spread faster into the interior with brick fortresses to protect small farming communities from hunter-gatherer bands, which still persisted in the area, and from stone-cutter culture encroachments. Some of these sites persist today as “brick fields”, which are the destroyed remnants mudbrick structures and are said to be cursed by the lakes peoples. The turning point between the interior-coastal tension occured at some point between 989 and 976 BCE when a series of tropical storms destroyed important coastal settlements and allowed unorganized migrations from the interior to occupy successively more southern areas.

During the late 9th century, a religious pseudo-state known as Ebo emerged through the unification of several disparate religious traditions. A work of philosophy, called the Heavenly Means, was passed through the population orally and described a cosmology that had influences from both the shamanist and fetishist traditions. Ebo maintained a privileged status in the area until the introduction of Irsad in the succeeding century. Ebo remains an important aspect of Jiha culture although it is now observed by a minority of the population.

The Midrasian South Majula Company gained concessions from the Sultanate of Mihra in 1735 which made them the exclusive exporter for the nation. Contractual enforcement eventually led to the “Field Missions” of the 1750s and 60s which subjugated or destroyed inland nations. From 1760 to 1958, Jiha remained a colonial possession of Midrasia. Following the conclusion of the Black River War, and wanting to avoid those results, Midrasia created a transitional government based on Dagban. The Dagban government ruled for a ten year period, preparing the nation for its first elections. In 1968, the elections were delayed for a year to give the government more time to establish polling places. In 1969, the nation’s first elections took place, but were immediately condemned by the international community when protests across the country erupted accusing the transitional government of failing to respect the results of the elections. Later, journalists revealed that the transitional government had failed to seek candidates for the legislature in many districts and then assigned members of the transitional government to serve as uncontested candidates in those districts. Many protestors complained that they had never even seen their representatives before.

The transitional government attempted to restore order with international help, but failed to do so after the civil service largely defected in favor of the protestors. This was referred to as the Paper Revolution and heralded as an excellent example of civil disobedience. Later, it was revealed that the elements of the civil service that orchestrated the coup had carefully purged their opponents including several who disappeared after they took over as a new transitional government. While distinctly undemocratic, the second transitional government was far more responsive to public opinion and followed up on some of its key directives including the establishment of a ubiquitous (though not universal) education system and the town-by-town election of mayors. A coalition of mayors eventually was able to lobby for a successful election in 1994, which replaced the transitional council with an elected parliament.

Map claim (Imgur): map claim in yellow

Geography and climate of nation: Primarily tropical, but losing humidity on the colder, southern coast.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): It compares to Mawusi in terms of historical role, but has fared much poorer in the post-colonial period.

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Founded with the overthrow of the weak Union of Orkuz States in 1953, the Serene Republic of Orzu was founded through the March 14th coup when military officers and clergy lead a military coup disbanding the old Union. The new theocracy would begin massive modernization efforts to bring prosperity to the poor through a command economy. Peasant violence hindered the modernization efforts, and Orzu's government grew divided over the future of the economy as much of the easy industrial growth stalled. This tension led to another military coup in 1978 where Aktolkin Armanev and the so called "Council of 4" seized power. Armanev began massive market reforms and created the so called "Liberationist Economy" a new model based on church ownership or joint stock enterprises of major industries, private shops and enterprise, and finally community held guilds as well as applying subsidiary to economics. The Liberationist economy led to explosive economic growth. Today Orzu is one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

What other nations do you use on NS? None, first nation on NS. I've done writing elsewhere.
Roleplay sample (Optional, though required for claiming a more powerful role): Walking onto the trail I saw the trees. Green, leaves fluttering in the wind, brown stems holding them to the Earth. It all looked so fake like that. Nature had lost it's imprint of purity for me, for steel had become life with the war.
I took myself to the recruitment office. A long line had formed, plebeians much like myself ready to fall, remembered by no one. "Name", "Papers" and all those tiring questions were asked at the front, and I finally signed up to enlist. They said my first day was in a week, training had been postponed with our loss of men, I was told to tell my regards to my family.

The concept is a little hard to wrap my head around, but I'll give this one an acceptance.

IC nation name: Kingdom of Camria (Camrian: Rheon Kemrad)
Capital: Elysed
Government type: Federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy
RP population: 36,493,200
Ethnic Group(s): Camrians (Latinised Brythonics) are the dominant ethnic group, though border communities exist, and migrant minorities are an increasing proportion of the population.
Language(s): Camrian is the sole official language, though border dialects are spoken along the borders (most notably with Glosmynd and Tricladia).
GDP per capita (USD): $34,318 (nominal)
HDI: 0.823
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): The Camrians are one of the many scions of the Fiorentine Empire; Thiaric stock who adopted Fiorentine customs and developed their own romance tongue. The aftermath of the Betrayal at Mydroll led to the establishment of independent Camrian kingdoms, eventually culminating in a united kingdom that - at times - spread its influence across Glosmynd and Tricladia. Under the Alydian Empire, the Camrian kingdom was able to exploit the discovery of the new world to establish new colonies, eventually also establishing outposts in Majula and Arabekh. The kingdom was considered a counterweight to Atresca within the Empire, though never matched that nation's internal dominance of the Empire. Ultimately, Camria would side with Midrasia during the Pontifical Wars, and help to bring about the end of the Alydian Empire. During the Great War, Camria found itself on the winning side, but found itself humbled with instability, being forced to grant independence to Glosmynd and eventually to a number of colonies. The aftermath saw the rise of a constitutional monarchy, and the eventual establishment of Camria as a middling power in Asura.

IIwiki is here: https://iiwiki.us/wiki/User:Kakletron/Sandbox3
Map claim (Imgur): Former claims of Wradhia & Mardin Isles, cities found here.

Geography and climate of nation: Hilly in the east, Camria is blessed with a beautiful western coast, with tourist-attracting beaches. The middle inland is temperate and ideal for farmland, leading to the rise of large cities, particularly along the navigable major rivers. There is a strong cultural stereotype of Camria as the land of continuous rain, but in reality percipitation levels are not dissimilar to the rest of Asura.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Camria fits as a neat secondary-but-historically-major power in Asura. Much like Spain, Camria is arguably past its heighday (the colonial period, and its brief dominance in eastern Asura with the submission of Glosmynd and parts of Tricladia [confirmation from players pending]), but still retains a great degree of diplomatic sway, economic influence and ultimately prestige. While it retains a far less impressive military or economy than, say, Midrasia or Atresca, it retains an aura of importance far beyond its true middling status, allowing it to act as a leading minor power in that regard.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Decrease GDP per c, decrease HDI, reduce planned colonial role etc.

The shape and location of the nation is identical to Rom's former Romellea, largely because I quite liked the shape and the geography he created for it. Should it be a problem I can change things, but other than that nothing from Romellea was used.

IC nation name: Saria | State of Saria
Fâxtaran | Kešvar-e Fâxtaran | Kœšvar-e Pœxtəran
Capital: Shavand
Government type: Navdarist theocratic republic
RP population: 114,506,546
Ethnic Group(s): Largely Poumeranic, with !Pontic Greek minorities on the coast. Other minorities pending, though possibly some !Turks, !Mongols, !Germans, depends, will develop later.
Language(s): The official language is Standard Firamanian, which is used in education, media, government etc.
Most people speak Poumeranic dialects, the largest being Pactaranian.
GDP per capita (USD): $17,141 (PPP) | $6,016
HDI: 0.799
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):

History
I’d prefer not to solifidy too much history and leave it open to collaboration, but here’s a rough timeline
-Something akin to Mahajanapadas and Chinese Autumn-Spring Warring States period for Poureman
-Ardeshir Empire comes, collapses.
-Antiquity, medieval period, early modern, many states and empires come and go
-x Revolution sees the Shah overthrown, dualist system retained but republicanised

Political
Saria operates upon the usual Navdarist system of dual government, mixed with an Asuran influenced republican system, an x, who is responsible for the spiritual administration, and a y, who is responsible for the temporal administrative duties. These administrations are not separate, though they are in some instances parallel.

The spiritual administration is the senior, with the x usually being considered a Head of State. They oversee several departments, including the military and judiciary, and are the head of the !Religious Council, which oversees and protects the constitution.

The temporal administration is the junior, with the y usually being considered a Head of Government. The y is the Head of the !Politburo, but may also serve as the Premier of the State Council, Chairman of the Military Commission, and President. They lead the executive, including departments shared with the spiritual administration.

The legislature of Saria is bicameral, divided into the !Lower House and !Upper House. The !Lower House consists of democratically elected representatives, while the upper house is selected by the !Religious council, and is usually comprised of religious figures and jurists. The houses do not interact in most instances, bar military and judicial matters. Neither house can create legislation, for the Lower House the !Politburo creates and submits legislation, while for the !Upper House the !Religious house creates and submits legislation. The Lower House creates civil and criminal law, while the upper house is largely restricted to religious law.

Navdarism
Will change depending on feedback and input from others. Intended to be a major religion.

Image
A major religion largely present in Arabekh and Sifhar, it is a monistic faith with elements of henotheism and atheism. It is believed to have been founded by Nawdhar in ~1100 BCE, but did not become a major force in Sifhar until the collapse of Ardeshir’s empire. The religion of the nobility was ~fire religion~, and great pains were undertaken to suppress Navdarism.

The religion centres around an Abyss, which is both a physical and incorporeal place. It is divided into twelve layers, and Earth and Humanity sit above the Abyss. In the centre of the Abyss is a tower which can only be accessed via the twelfth layer. The tower has 25 sections, and at its peak lies the Heavens, where resides the Sovereign of the Dawn.

To descend the Abyss is to tear down one’s ego, to destroy their self and rid themselves of any vices. Once they have reached the twelfth layer they must ritually purify themselves and construct a new self, then they may enter, and become a Rai. To climb the tower they must incorporate into themselves virtues. Upon reaching the 13th layer they become a Mehrai, and upon reaching the 24th layer they become a Charakvartan and are freed from the cycle.

When one dies they are physically transported to the next layer of the Abyss, where they must continue the cycle. This repeats until they reach the 12th layer, if they fail there their Deep Soul is reborn in the first layer with a new identity. Committing evil deeds and hoarding vices will prevent one from descending upon death. The Deep Soul is the spark of life, and some may contain hundreds of former identities, while others may be fresh and new.

In terms of day to day practice, most Navdari assemble in Xs, where the most common activity is singing and chanting, to help guide those descending, and to ask aid of those ascending and ascended. Most practitioners will work on removing vices and bolstering virtues through small everyday activities, and a monthly ritual of purifying oneself through a mixture of light and water. Most Xs and religious households will have a pool designed to trap light, used for !Baptisms, yearly cleansings, etc. Most practitioners aim to live through each layer, and to be ready to ascend upon reaching the end of the twelfth.

Adherents (i.e. clergy, monks) take a more active approach, seeking to descend the Abyss and climb the Tower within their lifetime. Thus depending upon their Order they may take more extreme measures to purge themselves of vices, such as fasting, flagellation, abstinence, poverty, etc.

The religion largely lacks deities, though the Sovereign of the Dawn was commonly considered by Asurans to be the main deity. Instead the Sovereign acts as a culture hero, trickster, devil, and first and greatest Charakvartan. He ascended long ago and achieved oneness with the Deep Soul of the universe. He seeks to protect the system, and so will guide those who accept it, and trick and punish those who deny it or seek protection from false deities and spirits.

I’d prefer for the religion not be neatly divided into sects like Christianity or Islam, but instead softly between canons followed and orders adhered to and patronised. Orders are essentially mystery cults-cum-Buddhist sects-cum-Sufi orders. They are dedicated to Charakvartans and seek to open up the mysteries of the universe and the abyss.

In the modern day the religion has opened up to modern science quite reasonably, having always had a strong scientific element (particularly in astronomy, optics, geometry, etc.), and with a lack of deity has not been adversely affected by an international rise in atheism, though it has been by irreligion.

Clergy is largely monks, with a smaller contingent of non-monastic scholars and community leaders. Rules for monks largely depend on canon followed and order they are part of.

Religion Terminology:
Mihrab (sun in the water; common name, and commonly accepted name of the Sovereign of the Dawn)
Sovereign of the Dawn (Sepide Farmânravâ)
Deep Soul (Žarf Ravân)
Abyss (Mağâkmân)
Charakvartan (Čarxvártan | ‘one whose wheels are moving’)
Rai (Rāy | King) Mehrai (Mehrāy | Great King)

Nomenclature:
Šahrá [Šahr-e-Sheharyar] -> Myrian: Sári -> Saria
*pr̥Hā́mā́n (place of the first people) -> Old: Pairiiə̄mān -> Middle: Pērēmān -> SP: Pərəmən | SF Fīrāmān - Poureman

Geography and climate of nation: I am hoping to use Rom’s topography, it’s nice and simply makes sense regarding the rivers. Climate it is likely mediterrenan in the west, going into middle eastern for the interior
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure?

Mihrab (sun in the water; common name, and commonly accepted name of the Sovereign of the Dawn)
Sovereign of the Dawn (Sepide Farmânravâ)

Geography and climate of nation: I am hoping to use Rom’s topography, it’s nice and simply makes sense regarding the rivers. Climate it is likely mediterrenan in the west, going into middle eastern for the interior
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): I figure it’ll be something like Iran or China in terms of anti-Asuranness, probably aligned with Tagamban. Definitely in the upper echelons of the developing world. Suffers from strongmen, internal corruption, bouts of jacobinism.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce population

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki):
The state of Hanita is one of the most consistent and oldest nations to exist. Thanks to the writings of ancient "Prophets", historians have a rough knowledge of the very archaic periods of Hanita. In the first century BCE, the nation had a major division due to political as well as religious differences, causing the kingdom to go into a dark age. During this downturn period, the nation competed with its neighbor, Teleshmun over control of the Upper Hever river as well as the Yatta River regions. West Hanita was finally reintegrated into the kingdom once again under the rule of Jeroboam III (r. ca. 30 CE - 75 CE) who also was able to reform religion as well as government, restoring much of the power back to the monarchy. His military genius also enabled him to reclaim much of the Hever river, the historical lifeline of the Hanitan civilization.

By the time the Fiorentine Empire fell, the Hanitan kingdom attempted to fill the vacuum left by the Fiorentines. However, their attempts were unfruitful, and overexpansion costed the nation to have lots of issues into the coming centuries, having to fight with many different Arabekhi states on all sides. The middle ages were a constant struggle, with numerous periods of occupation by groups including not!Arabs, Alydian Crusaders, and illegitimate monarchs.

By the 1800s, Vvarden had occupied the nation where it remained a colony until the end of the Great War in 1899. It was then handed over to Atresca where it remained its colony, only to gain independence and establish a western-style democracy inspired by its colonizers.

The app is very good, and will fit the intended region perfectly. I'll only write down some stuff you should work on with your neighbours/allies as a priority (we discussed them on discord but just so you have them in a more accessible place):
- Figure out the geography to fit the plan for developed agriculture you have
- Work a bit more on the economy, talk with Artesca about skilled labour outsourcing to Hanita
- Write to your neighbours about the potential Berber state in the heart of the continent

Apart from that, I am glad to give you a second acceptance and welcome you to Aeia!

Capital: Daliqiyah
Government type: Federal Parliamentary Republic (De-Jure) Federal (Not!Saddamist) Military Dictatorship (De-Facto)
RP population: 47 Million
Ethnic Group(s): Arabekhi's (87%) Asurans (11%) Other (2%)
Language(s): !Arabic, Atrescan
GDP per capita (USD): 8,338
HDI: 0.763
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Laqraa, officially the United Republic of Laqraa, is a sovereign state located on the continent of Arabekh in which it is the largest country on the continent by land area. In 1911, nationalists began a military conflict, seizing much of the South and Nasca Island whilst the colonial government was in control of the North; the ensuing war, which was fought with Guerilla tactics ended with the Atrescan forces retreating to Aramas. The country from 1915 to 1977 modelled itself on the Midrasian Political System inside an Navdarist Democracy.

In 1977 President Kaarim al-Obeid and his supporters overthrew the Parliament after it voted to remove him from office, from 1977 to 1999 President al-Obeid created a personality cult around himself and ruled with an iron fist. During this time separatists in Barlecchia, the former Atrescan Colonial capital and the only majority Asuran province in the country attempted to secede sparking the Laqraai Civil War which lasted throughout al-Obeid's rule as President.

On December 31st 1999, the military overthrew al-Obeid in the Millennial Coup, three months later the Tel Khanarah Accords ended the civilwar creating a Federal State with Barlecchian Autonomy. al-Obeid was executed along with 30 other former senior members of Government two years later and a Federal Assembly was formed, elected by State Legislatures and appointed by the President with 25% of seats reserved for the Military to prevent unauthorised changed to the constitution.
Map claim (Imgur): Image

Geography and climate of nation: Much of Laqraa is desert with the areas around the various rivers being arable (think Egypt and the Nile). The country has a hot desert climate although temperatures are more moderate around the rivers and coastline. Nasca island has a moderate temperature with no deserts and has far cooler temperatures than the inland.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Laqraa has a stable currency and an emerging middle class as the country transitions into an industrialised country. However the country is dealing with a Spillover of the Aramas civilwar, several separatist organisations and a lack of democracy.

Geography and climate of nation: The country contains a tropical rainforest climate in the proximity to coastal areas and lowlands (can be compared to the Dominican Republic). Due to its diverse geography, climates vary greaty (ranging from wet and hot climates to drier weather in the islands' highlands and mountains). It is also frequently hit by hurricanes and tropical storms and can receive much precipitation, eventually causing storm surges and mudslides.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Although it plays a certain major role in Columbian politics and affairs as a small power, it doesn't maintain any global importance or political weight (membership in CDN possible, Mydramonde membership sought after).
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Decrease economic development or increase internal corruption, authoritarianism, and devastation by natural causes (similar to Haiti).

How did you hear about Aeia? I was originally a member of Aeia, and after a few months I am returning to the region for some worldbuilding fun.
What other nations do you use on NS? The Crowned Republic of Mascylla and the Tayari Republic in Gaia (both on IIWiki)

Any other info you wish to add (Optional): It isn't meant to be anything like a real power or important factor in geopolitics, but rather an addition to the development of the Columbian Sea region.

Government type: Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy with significant military intervention
RP population: 59,408,010
Ethnic Group(s): Sudanese Arabs (82%), Beja (10%), Nubian (4%), Dinka (2%), Nuer (1.5%), Other (.5%)
Language(s): Arabic is the only language with a status that is legally recognized, all other languages are not recognized by the national or devolved governments
GDP per capita (USD): $12,391 (PPP), $3,256 (Nominal)
HDI: 0.700
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Cassalia was a part of the Fiorentine Empire and later other empires that developed in the South Asur region. It has been conquered routinely and integrated into various empires originating in both Ramastan and Saria. The first Cassalian entity was the Houna Sultanate, which spanned much of coastal Bahra and held territories in neighboring Arabekh and Sifar. The Houna Sultanate is a modern name, while the contemporary name for the empire was the Sultanate of the !Arabs. Various successor sultanates existed in different capacities after its collapse. Its territories were also annexed by other empires in the region. Cassalia was colonized by Atresca in the 1870s and came under majority Atrescan control by the late 1880s. Several coastal cities and forts were held by Midrasia and Veleaz held a strip of coastal territory along the eastern coastline. It was given independence during the 1920s. For most of its history, Cassalia remained economically backwards and development was concentrated in the main colonial cities. After a brief civil war in the 1950s between the central government and various tribal groups, the current monarch came to power. He has ruled since the 1950s and plays an important role in Cassalian politics and society. The monarchs powers were curbed in the 1980s and a more parliamentary system began to develop. Tensions with non-Arab groups continued and spiraled into insurgency starting in the early 2000s. A military coup against a reformist government in 2015 has elevated the power of the military. The government continues to fight insurgents, remains supportive and protective of the monarchy, and continues alignment with Ramastan.
Map claim (Imgur): Claim

Geography and climate of nation: The northern coastline has a standard Mediterranean climate. Rivers define much of the country, creating fertile regions along their banks. Most of the population resides on the northern coast or along the riverbanks. The inland regions in the east and west are defined by deserts. A large mountain range runs along much of the southern border. These areas are home to many of the African groups that live within Cassalia.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Cassalia is aligned with Ramastan, though their ties had been slipping under the last democratic government which sought more favorable relations with Saria. The 2015 coup saw a reversal of that policy and Cassalia ended attempts to warm relations with Saria. Cassalia also maintains favorable economic ties with Atresca. Separatist groups active in the south of the country provide opportunities for other nations to interfere with Cassalia and to back rebels that oppose the Ramastani-aligned, military government.
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: GDP per capita, HDI drops

Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): Vialenia is a Federal Presidential Republic located in North-Western Rennekka. The country was colonised by the Kingdom of Callura-Friola. Most Indigenous people were forced inland into the area around the City of Uaxactun. During the early 1700s part of the country, mainly around the North revolted against the colonial government. The war lasted three years until it was put down. The industrial revolution the country benefited from new industries with the at the time capital, Pordenzio quickly became the heart of the industrial revolution in the country. IC nation name: The Kingdom of Fonualei (Fonualeian: Puleʻanga Fakatuʻi ʻo Fonualei)
Capital: Nukupule
Government type: Democratic elective monarchy
RP population: 347,139
Ethnic Group(s): 82.6% !Tongan and !Samoan, 16.3% Misaian, 1.1% others
Language(s): Fonualeian (Tongan- sole official language)
GDP per capita (USD): $4,109.84
HDI: 0.707
Brief background of nation (or IIWiki): https://iiwiki.us/wiki/Fonualei

Fonualei is a confederation of several tribes and traditional chiefdoms ruled by a Paramount Chief elected from amongst the High Chiefs of the six main tribes by the Council of Chiefs, composed of 'lower' chiefs and other members of the nobility. Prior to colonization, the country was dominated by a multitude of chiefdoms and tribes led by an Ali'i (a high chief), warring with one another frequently for control over land, resources, and control over maritime trade. In the 1550s, the territory of present-day Fonualei was conquered by the Kingdom of Misai. The local chiefdoms were made vassal states of the Misaian crown, paying tribute and under the nominal protection of Misai. From the late 16th to 18th centuries, Misaian control over the chiefdoms increased and most lost their independence, reduced to mere ceremonial positions. The territories of Fonualei were made part of the Kingdom of Misai's holdings on the continent. This period was marked by the arrival of Misaian settlers. By the 19th century, the native peoples outnumbered the Misaian settlers by an extremely thin margin and most chiefs had lost their political power. Following the Ebiwan Revolution and subsequent Misaian Civil War in the 1920s, Misaian control over the southern colony waned as the war raged on the main island. In 1920, the matai (paramount chief) of six tribes met and proclaimed the formation of the 'United Tribes of Fonualei' and declared independence from the Kingdom of Misai and subsequently the Misai South Islands High Government. The 'Matai Rebellion' was extremely bloody- Fonualeian warriors, armed largely with traditional weapons such as shark-toothed clubs and spears, scored early victories against Misaian forces and captured many pieces of equipment in the early days of fighting. The rebellion was characterized by many massacres on both sides, with rampant attacks and ambushes against ethnically Misaian settlers. The Fonualeians suffered heavy losses but continued in a sort of guerilla war with native men and women inflicting suicide attacks or sabotaging Misaian infrastructure. Upon the takeover of the Misai South Islands High Government by the Republican faction, a ceasefire and peace agreement was signed at the Treaty of Namiwan in 1923. With the annexation of the Southern Provinces to South Misai, the South Misai granted independence to territories under the rule of the six Matai and the country gained independence as the United Tribes of Fonualei in 1924. Relations with South Misai continues to remain close due to the Republicans granting independence to the former colony whilst Fonualei has close economic ties to both North and South in the present day.

Map claim (Imgur): https://iiwiki.us/mediawiki/images/d/dc/FonualeiMap.png

Geography and climate of nation: Fonualei's interior consists mostly of dense tropical rainforest and is sparsely populated. Nearly the entirety of the population lives on the coast, in the towns of Nukupule and Te'emoa. The coastline is primarily flat and swampy with many lagoons. Inland, the country's landscape is characterized by a rocky, volcanic mountainous region. Off the southern tip of the peninsula, there are several volcanic offshore islands including the township of Sapa'ata- the southernmost settlement in Fonualei.
How will your nation fit within the existing regional power structure? (strengths/weaknesses): Fonualei is an elective monarchy, with the Paramount Chief (king) of Fonualei being elected from the rulers of the several traditional chiefdoms on the island. I think this has potential for future worldbuilding and RP with the possibility of events such as a succession crisis and inter-tribal violence. this will benefit the Savaian region greatly as it opens the possibility for a regional organization to develop and we get to worldbuild fun things like multinational peacekeeping
If asked to reduce the strength of your nation, how would you do so?: Reduce the HDI and GDP per capita further.

Second acceptance to Vialfreia with a note that that HDI would need raising given it doesn’t seem to mesh with your GDP per capita.

First acceptance to Founualei on the condition that you agree your history with South Misai and thst your nation shows the effects that a brutal civil war such as that would have in its modern history.
